Burning down a home
I was desperate to leave it all behind,
To burn the memories from my mind.
I wanted to forget what happened here,
I wanted to forget the way you once held me near.
And despite wanting to burn everything down,
This had been our home, it was our town.
But now without you, the walls were closing in,
I didn’t know where to turn, or where to begin.
So I packed my bags, I walked away,
Because in this place I couldn’t stay.
I had to find myself, I had to go alone.
I lost everything, and now I had to rebuild a home.
I travelled far, never staying anywhere long.
It was difficult to find somewhere I belong.
Yet eventually, I settled down,
Stopped roaming from town to town.
I built a life, though I’d left everything I’d known,
And I found somewhere new to make my home.
Yet something happened, somewhere along the line,
And I had to go back to our town one more time.
I never thought I’d go back. I wanted to hate that place.
Around every corner, in every shadow, I saw your face.
I made the visit as short as I possibly could,
Hoping I didn’t see you, wishing I would.
I retraced the steps, the ones burnt in my mind,
The ones I used to take with you, not knowing what I’d find.
I left again before the nostalgia could settle in,
Knowing that if it did, then I’d come home again.
Because this place had always been my home,
Despite the fact I denied that when I left you alone.
Yet I couldn't tell you that, so I left once more.
But this time I won't go back, I've finally shut that door.

Spam posting about TDIM again bc I am emotional. Once again the culprit is the Ultimatum ending. As much as the whole "I always loved you" speech Kate does if she has a high relationship with Mark DESTROYS MY SOUL AND RIPS IT VIOLENTLY TO SHREDS I just tried that ending but had them with a low relationship and she just says "Mark, I'm scared" I WANT TO SCREAM AND CRY AND THROW UP URURGHHHH HHHHH I HATE ULTIMATUM
Bonus: If they have a low relationship and Mark accepts the deal, Kate gets upset with him on the ferry rather than her usual "You had no choice" and all that. What if I threw up

A Celebration of Robin Oliveria
Now, several of you will likely recognize the name Robin Oliveria. This may be because she's a wonderful local author, or because we've had the honor of hosting her several times, or because you're a lover of historical fiction. However it is that you know her, she'll be here at Island Books once again on Thursday, February 15 from 6:30 to 7:30, to celebrate the release of her newest book, A Wild and Heavenly Place! We are always excited to welcome friends and supporters of the store who happen to be amazing local authors as well *wink*, and love having them for book signings and Q&As.
A Wild and Heavenly Place is a historical fiction that begins in Glasgow, Scotland with the happenstance meeting of two individuals from very different walks of life. Hailey MacIntyre, the daughter of a rich banker, has everything. Samuel Fiddes, on the other hand, is raising his sister in the tenements of Glasgow while trying to survive. But when Samuel saves Hailey's younger brother from a runaway carriage, their lives become intertwined. When Hailey's father impulsively moves them across the world to the burgeoning coal town of Seattle after the City of Glasgow Bank fails in 1878, Samuel follows. As they try to make a life for themselves in this unfamiliar place, their roles reverse and they have to deal with the many challenges that come from living in a rough frontier town. Full of Seattle history and featuring Newcastle and the San Juan Islands, this is a book I can't wait to read!
Robin Oliveira is the New York Times bestselling author of My Name Is Mary Sutter, I Always Loved You, and Winter Sisters. She got her BA in Russian and an MFA in Vermont. If you want to learn more about her and her love of the places she's lived, check out this recent Seattle Times article (which provides some excellent behind-the-scenes looks into her inspiration). You can preorder A Wild and Heavenly Place now, and we'll have it ready for you on February 13 when it is released. Or you can pick it up when you come for the event on February 15, where there will be chocolate, bubbles (both of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties), and books galore. We can't wait to see you there!

I think it's sad that most people always think of bottlenoses as the "classic dolphin" since its the one that's always used for shows, and always think of dolphins as just straight grey when in reality there's so many varieties with so many different amazing patterns
Look at the common dolphin! They have a gorgeous X pattern and even some dull yellow/gold!!
Hourglass dolphins have gorgeous white streaks
Spinner dolphins have really pretty banding as well, AND they have a really sleek cute silhouette!
The atlantic spotted dolphin!!! Theyre spotted!!!!!!
and the pantropical spotted too!!
Dusky dolphins have a gorgeous airbrush look going on like straight out of a 2000s fantasy illustration
Striped dolphins sure have stripes!! How cool!!
And these I've shown you aren't even all of them at all, there are so many of them:
There's so so so many different types of dolphins people dont know about this isnt even all of them and some are SO gorgeous and underrated because people just dont know they exist so I'm here to fix that
