when characters have poofy messy but otherwise straight hair, i like to headcanon that their hair is actually naturally wavy/curly and they just don't know how to/don't care to take proper care of it. bc irl that is often the case (speaking from personal experience)

Page 2: Luz says "we were just going through all your old human music!" While holding a CD case. She continues "I've been getting nostalgic listening to some old latin pop CDs, like what my mom used to play around the house! (You have a surprising amount of merengue music btw)". Gus sheds a single tear and says "I've sampled human music before but, wow, just, wow! The technique...the inspiration...Carly Rae Jepsen is a genius". Willow looks to the side and says "and I've been listening to your old breakup mixtapes!".

Page 3: Eda looks at her blankly before saying "my what?". Willow says- "your breakup music! There's a whole box of it. I'm pretty over it now but back in the day...when Amity stopped hanging out with me...it hit me hard. I kinda had a phase of only listening to angsty breakup songs for like...a month. Maybe more. It's kinda sad in retrospect".

In the background we can see a flashback of young willow sobbing in bed while summoning vines to cover photos of her and Amity on her wall. Willow continues "things are a lot better now don't get me wrong...but I still listen to that playlist every once in a while when I need a release". Eda contemplates, then grimaces, remembering breakup with Raine (who's pictured saying "it's over, eda").

Page 4: Eda looks at Willow. She eventually says "wanna trade?" And Willow looks up. Final panel shows Luz standing in the doorway concerned as she looks at Willow and Eda. willow is kneeling in front of a casette player and headphones with a shadowy expression and Eda is in the family guy death post with a phone and headphone wire next to her. Both have annotations- Willow's says "got One of Us by ABBA" and Eda's is "got Nightshift by Lucy Dacus". Luz says "you guys good?". End ID]

i'm working on the next wwaitsoatl chapter, which as i've previously mentioned is by FAR my most involved story as far as, like, technical process goes. i finished the second draft of the chapter and went "god, wow, this is all shit, this all sucks so bad, i'm never gonna be able to make anything usable out of this" and then stepped away for a few hours and now i'm midway through the first editing pass and i just keep going "oh my god. oh my god. holy Shit this is gonna bang so fucking hard once i fix it all. oh this is gonna go so hard there's so much potential. fuck YES oh my GOD my HORRIBLE LITTLE BITCHES ARE BACK-"

All I want out of life, truly, is Raine Whispers and Luz Noceda interactions.

I want Luz to see Raine and immediately FREAK OUT because her mentor/mother figure's ex is RIGHT THERE and she has SO MANY QUESTIONS!

I want Raine to introduce themself nervously to who they know is one of Eda's kids while trying to make a good first impression since the last two times they've met her she didn't even know they were there.

I want Raine to be bombarded by a max energy, gushing, stimming Luz as she hops back and forth on her feet rapid firing every single question she has about Raine and Eda and what was Eda like when she was her age and how long did you two date and she saw one of your records at the market once did you write it about Eda and oh my gosh i know someone at Hexside who would literally kill me if I didn't get your autograph and can you teach me bard magic i still haven't found a glyph combo that works i at least know the light and fire glyphs are important but it's kinda hard to find any books on advanced bard theory i don't know why people think it's just for music i think it's actually really cool and

I want Raine to immediately understand why this is Eda's kid because by the Titan it's like meeting a 14 year old Eda all over again except this one is somehow even MORE energetic how is that even possible??

But most of all, I want Eda to watch one of the oldest parts of her life meet one of the newest parts of her life and feel more content than she has in a very long time.

I keep thinking about Eda's first day having a holoform - in the context of TFA, in this case. it's such a strange sensation for him, to be so small, to look everywhere around yourself and have a landscape that towers over you rather than the other way around.

it'd be at least several years after the Autobots crashland but still within the 50-year timeskip; the presence of the Allspark reactivated his defense mechanisms which in turn reactivated everything else, and after a while he gets a scope of where he is physically and figures out how to tap into various data systems to learn what life exists native to the planet he's on (Earth, of course, but he doesn't know that). when he does manifest a holoform he's in a full-body suit of armor and severely out of place, shaking poor bystanders by their lapels and demanding to know where and when he is a la Kyle Reese from The Terminator, screaming and ranting about the Allspark and how it signified "the beginning of the end for this world", eventually attracting the attention of the Detroit Police. after a brief scuffle and the destruction of at least one police robot, Eda gets apprehended - but he allows them to bring him to the station because he understands 1) he's not in any real danger, and 2) past experience tells that whoever leads the law enforcement often is a source of information. he gets questioned by Fanzone but is calculated in what he reveals, speaking largely in riddles and omens much to Fanzone's frustration, all while taking in more intel about Earth and humans than he provides about himself. he's put in the station's holding cell but vanishes overnight, having dissipated his holoform - but given that the police didn't know he was only solid light, they assume he somehow escaped and put out a warrant for his arrest. all broadcasted images are of him in armor, his face largely obscured.

across town, far from where he was first apprehended, Eda reappears in a more casual outfit, brazenly maintaining the same base appearance but blending into the crowd all the same. it'd be an immense inconvenience to be caught again so soon, but he wants to be certain that he can be found when everyone realizes he was right.

"You're betting against our son?" Camila demanded, eyebrows raised.

"Yes," Darius said.

Alador nodded. "Yeah, my money's on Willow," he said.

Camila threw her hands up. "Am I the only one who has any faith in him!?" Camila vs Hunter's sort-of-dad and sort-of-step-dad; it wasn't a battle of wills that Eda expected, but it was one she enjoyed watching.

"I agree," Perry said. "I'd say Willow."

Raine looked contemplative. They hummed, tapping a rhythm on the table, but didn't offer a side yet.

"Actually, I side with Camila," Lilith said slowly. She looked like she was thinking hard. Weighing the pros and cons would be Eda's bet. "Hunter is shyer than Willow, but he loves her dearly and he's brave. He can be very determined. I can see him proposing."

Darius and Alador exchanged dubious glances. Camila smiled smugly.

"Well, what about Luz and Amity?" Raine asked, tapping their chin.

"Luz," Camila and Eda said.

"Amity," Lilith said.

"Honestly, considering their track record, I expect them both to propose on the same day," Alador said with a shrug. "Or they'll try to anyway. Hopefully without Hooty's involvement this time."

"Is something wrong with Hootsifer?" Lilith demanded.

"You don't want me to answer that."

"Okay," Darius cut in quickly. "What about Gus and Matt?"

Perry snorted. "They'll need to actually date first," he said. "And my hair will be entirely grey by the time those boys sort themselves out. They're both painfully oblivious."

"Are they still calling it a rivalry?" Camila asked sympathetically.

"Unfortunately," Perry sighed.

Alador snorted into his apple blood. Eda gave him and Darius her most shit-eating grin.

"Yeah," Darius sighed. "We'll all be waiting a while on those two."

Since someone is live-blogging it rn and reminded me I am still thinking about how when Luz died and Eda and King went beast-mode, that they made it clear that they didn’t blame the Collector at all

Which is so important for this little kid who just witnessed his first real actual death and probably blames themself SO MUCH for it

Eda being sure to let them know that she’s about to be furious beyond any reason - but by doing so keeping him out of harms way and thus letting them know they’re not at fault

It was just such a good little moment
