So I told myself, very firmly and using my I'm-very-serious voice, that I wasn't going to just jump right back into Supernatural after finally finishing my full rewatch. I've built up a backlog of other shows I want to watch (so far I've gotten through Sweet Tooth season 2 and working through Good Omens season 2 now) so I can't give into the urge to just dive right back into Spn. But, but, I decided that cold turkey might not be the best way to go, so I let myself watch Ghostfacers this morning and, fuck I love that episode. It's a perfect standalone thanks to the format and I just love it. Aaaahhhhh. So now to go back to Good Omens (which I am throughly enjoying) and resist watching more Supernatural... I can do this.

1 - Brooklyn 99

I can chose any random episode if I need a laugh and am never not amused. Just love this show.

2 - Parks and Recreation

I don’t want to know how many times I’ve rewatched this, it did get miles better after Ben and Chris came in though

3 - The Good Place

Another show with such re-watch-ability, this and Community are top of my list of recommendations for friends looking for new things to watch.

4 - Community

Probably my favourite comedy show of all time.

5 - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

My childhood favourite Star Trek, although I’ve only recently started watching the final season (I held onto that Jadiza death grudge for a very long time indeed!)

6 - ER

I watched so much of this when I was at university, and it’s still one of my comfort shows now for some reason.

7 - Selfie

Another sitcom and something that was cancelled at the end of the first season, but I throughly enjoyed it. I wish it was streaming somewhere as I’d very much like to rewatch it.

8 - Good Omens

I just love Anathema, that’s all.

I think many people expect that we should be grateful for the Duffers for putting the minimum effort to include Vickie into the show. They didn't even give her enough screen time yet alone a surname while giving all of those unnecessary screem time to other characters like Jason, Eddie, Jason's mob group etc. Plus, they gave the Russia plot way too much screen time that it got dragged way too long.

They obviously cannot manage with the time and managing the main characters' arcs at the same time.

Especially when we have so many characters. They add new side characters into the show, and then give them unnecessary amount of screen time when they should be giving that to the main characters. It is very jarring, considering that those side characters are written into the show to die in the first place and only got added to exist in one standalone season. But they still get screen time unnecessarily, whereas the main characters get trashed or sidelined in favor of those characters.

They painfully sidelined Will, Mike, Jonathan. I like Argyle and Eddie, but let's be real, their characters were unnecessary and took way too much screen time away from the main other characters. Vickie is only given 1-2 minutes, while Jason gets a huge focus despite the fact that Vickie is supposed to be a rep character and is supposed to be Robin's love interest, she does get next to zero characterization, lines and screentime.

The Duffers might talk about how it is important for them to be finishing the characters' arcs in a satisfying way but with how they continue to write this situation, I am afraid many of the characters' arcs will either be dropped, sidelined, ignored or will be underhwelming again.

They should have fixed this problem after S3, however they haven't. They capitalized more on focusing the Russia plotline when it was already way too much in S3. They still preferred sidelining Will to a great extent, minimizing Jonathan and Mike's characters but in a worse way in this season. Now they have to develop and fix those things and close the main characters' arcs while developing new added characters like Vickie and giving Robin and Vickie screen time and it is way too much already when you also consider that they have to portray Byler in a more explicit way, break up Mlvn, fix Mike and El's relationship, focus on the supernatural plot, fix the Stncy and Jncy drama, give Jonathan the screen time he deserves, save Max, focus on Max, Lucas and others, and concluding the supernatural plot in a satisfying way and... and it is way too much already.

I'm so glad we're all finally talking about this!

I wholeheartedly agree, except for the part where you say that Argyle's screentime was unnecessary. If anything, Argyle was part of the Cali plot, which was paid dust; they deserved more. He brought a freshness to the plot and made it light-hearted. Argyle deserved a surname as well! The Byers and El together as a family deserved more screentime too.

Now, I liked watching Jason & the jocks, Eddie and I guess I must be one of the few who throughly enjoyed the Russian plot, but yes, they could have shortened those a bit to distribute the screentime more evenly between our main characters. But wanna hear something? I genuinely think The Duffers (and the crew/team/writers) planned for it to be like that and that's what they actually wanted. They've been doing it since S3 already; it's disappointing.

Like, honestly, what more would I need to know about El and Hopper that I already don't? Those 2 are the MOST fleshed out characters out of the entire show. Notice how they always get amazing complete arcs each season, but what about Will, Jonathan, Mike, Lucas and Joyce? if anything, Will and El are the center of the main supernatural plot (besides VH1) and we still know NOTHING about Will's abduction after 3 seasons.

Even Steve (who already has a lot of screentime but as a comic relief character, which is all right, but that has eclipsed his traits as well as being obsessed with getting a girlfriend) and Robin could have had more of an arc that makes me learn about them and connect with them in a deeper way, but it seems they don't even want to do that.

But I don't know what is their thought process or how many things they have changed in post-production given the fact that they shot Season 4 for 300 days, like Finn mentioned on Fallon, which is insane. Do they have unused footage that didn't make it and will they include it on Season 5? I'm not a director so I don't know the struggles or pressure they must have or the ideas they have had to come up and ideas they have had to quit to deliver a great season for their show, and I guess we will have to wait for the last season, but so far, the disparity on screentime is their biggest issue.

There are many TV Shows that are able to juggle many plots and storylines without abandoning some characters for others, so it all seems very intentional with Stranger Things. Nonetheless, the cast always speak very highly of the show and The Duffers...

And just like you wonderful Anon, I am also worried about how they will "give each character and storyline a satisfying ending" given the fact that the neglect they've given to many of those lowers my expectations considerably.

The thing I must be most mad about is how they seem to hate Jonathan and gave him NOTHING this season.

Besides Byler, the main supernatural plot, Milkvan's relationship, J*ncy vs St*ncy, Jonathan's much needed and necessary screentime, save and focus on Max, Lucas, Joyce, R*ckie, the rest of the characters and don't forget Dustin, the consequences of Eddie's death and how that will affect him as well. Eddie's death is the new Barb for sure and that will play out into this last season.

So many things that they could have already begun to tie up but they left it all for Season 5...

November walks are exceptionally lovely. The funny thing about having babies (and most things) is no matter how hard it gets in the moment, nostalgia will blanket the challenges and mental pitfalls.

Currently my life is predictably small bc of caretaking. Here’s my daily schedule:

Wake up at 3:30 am. Pump. Try to go to sleep on the couch (babies stay in the living room with a parent) If sleep isn’t possible, then it’s my time to watch various adult shows! In the very beginning I watched Nailed It! and season 2 of The Office. I watched two seasons of The Vow and the documentary Mama’s Boy. I just finished season 1 of The Bear on Hulu (which I throughly enjoyed and highly recommend). I get a cup of coffee and a biscuit and wait for Leon to wake up around 7 am. Then it’s breakfast, clothes, teeth brush, and shoes and off to school. My best friend Cody takes Leon to school. I usually begin tidying and daily chores. Baby chores. Feeding, changing, nursing. Jason will wake up around noon and we finish whatever needs to be finished before Leon comes home. I usually enjoy a walk around this time. Then it’s playtime and dinner prep/dinner, baby needs, pumping, bath time, books, and off to bed at 7/8 pm. On and on ad infinitum.

Journal Entry; Monday 07/25/2022

Dear Journal,

It’s been a while since I’ve written to you! I apologize. I was thinking of putting this on my finsta but I figured I don’t necessarily need to overshare ALL the time. But let’s have a run through of the week.

Last Monday after coming back from work, I saw a cat in my apartment’s parking lot. As I was driving up the car seemed unbothered and walked his way into a bush in the corner of the lot. I got out of my car and still seeing his tail going back and forth, I called to the cat and he trotted over to me. He was so friendly and cute. He had a collar on him and his name was Paco! I called his owner and she came out to get him. Felt like I saved him from any potential dangers (cars, dogs, etc)!

On Tuesday I made my TikTok debut, looking v cute as always.

On Wednesday I had my first covid test for my extra role on Swagger and on my way back to my apartment, a car crash happened right in front of me! Luckily the other two vehicles barely missed me but I stayed behind to make sure everyone was okay while the police and paramedics arrived. I hope the guy that was hurt is doing okay, I met a lot of people involved in his life and they seemed grateful that I stayed. 

Thursday was nothin special, I was moreso excited for Friday!

and on Friday I had my first shoot for SWAGGER SEASON 2! I was an extra yet again this time a high school student :) I’m excited to see when it comes out and if they are able to fit me in to film more. I met some cool people Jarette, Paris, and some others. The main character played by Isaiah also recognized me which was cool. I got to walk across the cafeteria by the table where all the main people were sitting and I felt so cool lol. It was a long day though stayed for about 13 hours! Didn’t even get to go glow bowling with my gal pals in Hampton but it’s okay they understood I was doing it for the fame and the money hahah. 

Saturday was glorious all I did was chill and sleep (and also smoke but we won’t brag too much about that).

Sunday I had my YWD and Non-Binary SGI meeting where I gave my experience. Sharing about my experience navigating my journey on love including self love! Realizing more how important healing is and to take things a day at a time. Trying to surround myself with good people always. I also got to see my parents and finally my gal pals again! 

Sometimes when I have so many things going on and then I come back to my regular life I get a lil sad reminiscing on the good times. But I’m so grateful to have had them in the first place that I try not to stay sad for too long. But this is my LAST WEEK at my summer school nurse job and it’s definitely bittersweet. I am excited to start my new job at the Sports Medicine Clinic but this will probably be one of the easiest jobs I will ever have. Everyone is so nice and I love getting paid to sit and chill, maybe give a few bandaids here and there. I’m also so grateful because I was offered another job within the school being a 1:1 nurse for a student however I had to politely decline although that was an area of nursing I was hoping to explore. Maybe later down the line but I’m hoping to stay at my new job for at least a year. Actually scratch that I am DETERMINED to throughly enjoy my new job and make it the best experience! New, healthy habits will be picked up and I am slowly turning more into the person who I meant to be. 

Healthier habits also include going to visit some doctors before the year is over. Definitely going to find a new PCP, OBGYN, dentist, endocrinologist and perhaps a dermatologist. I think my thyroid may be acting up again. It’s crazy how it seems like so many negative aspects that I’ve been experiencing links back to my thyroid (hyperhydrosis, fatigue, memory loss, anxiety/depression). I wish I could more so treat my actual thyroid than just to alleviate symptoms. Peaks more of my interest in holistic medicine.

Anyways sorry to go on this random rant. Just kind of wanted to get my thoughts out and written so that way I can go back on this entry and revisit to see how much has changed. Maybe my next journal entry will be a letter to my future self. That would be kinda cool.

I throughly enjoyed the new taskmaster episode, maybe it's because of the lack of enthusiasm in the dark void of my current life, maybe because it is good indeed, or even both who knows? I like all the contestants so far, especially my beloved Alan, and I think the series is going to be a good one

let's talk about it!!!

i'm really optimistic about the series based on the first episode! i'll start off with some actual observations and slowly derail into just...all of my thoughts, probably:

victoria coren mitchell

the contestants have a bit of an older average age, interestingly! if you think back to some of the 40-something+ contestants (richard osman, bob, mel, hugh, noel, rhod, mark watson, liza, etc.), they all 1) didn't try too hard and sacrifice comedy in the meantime, and 2) had great, comfortable rapports with greg. their seniority in the industry gives them the confidence to dick about, challenge greg, question the format, flub on purpose or cheat and get away with it — and all without trying too hard. plus, a lot of these comedians know greg and alex from being in the same business for a while. so i've alwaaays loved the more mature contestants, and this season the youngest is 35! i'm so excited about that!! you can tell from the first episode alone they're mostly gonna laugh at themselves, which i love??

on the whole, the tasks weren't overly complicated — BLESS

is there a studio audience or did the editing team just NAIL the laugh track? IT'S SO MUCH BETTER WITH LAUGHS. the dry echoes of s10 (which i just rewatched) fucking scarred me oml i'm so happy with this

i think desiree dressed a little flamboyantly for the recorded tasks, but i'm actually so happy no one wore a totally ridiculous outfit for the duration of the series. it's kind of an worn gag at this point (kudos to the first contestant or two to do it, and phil wang's cock which i'll probably never forget). victoria's outfit? the long skirt with the boots and her lil gloves? so cute ogdkjfghflkdhzk

not to call victoria out but did we not all predict exactly how she was going to be? mocking/question the tasks while also being the most competitive one there? the way MORE THAN ONCE she didn't even digest all of the information on the card to do the tasks correctly yet clearly cared enough to feel a little demoralised at botching them... so victoria. WHICH WAS VERY CUTE ;_:

why is alan already so tired omg LMAO let my man take a nap and get a bonus point for no reason, he's already been through enough IN LIFE!!! also unrelated but his skin is beautiful

guz is the only contestant i wasn't really familiar with before the series but he's already...so funny. i'm CACKLING when he breaks out the pure pakistani accent and his comedic beats are gold. can't yet decide if he's an affable weirdo (à la paul chowdhry) or a lowkey nutcase (mel giedroyc) but i cannot WAIT to find out

guz's fit in the studio was sick. i also love that alan's look was exactly hugh dennis', sean lock's...just. that classic 50yo button-down and kicks. which warms my heart for some reason

greg has had quite a few crushes throughout the series, i'd gander morgana is next on his list but i won't be surprised if it ends up being guz... the absolute slut that man is smh

not to put pressure on myself to make a gifset but to the people who requested it i clocked many alex breaking character moments and they have been DULY noted.......

The majority of his fans went wild, they were happy for him but very curious who you were, they knew you had been friends with Henry for ages and had always said how beautiful you were and had recently learnt that the two of you were dating after Henry had posted a cute video to his story of Kal kissing you before Henry said "I'm getting cheated on with my own dog" . Infact it was often joked that both you and Henry were the hottest nerds ever (you too were a massive gamer and a huge fan of the Witcher amongst many other fantasy games and films).

However, a few nasty people had to comment about the age gap between the two of you. You were 25 and Henry was 37. But the age gap didn't matter to you or to Henry and the horrible comments about it made you both annoyed and upset.

 Today Henry had invited you to bring Kal, his beloved American Akita, along to an interview he had. You agreed because you knew it meant you could spend more of the day with Henry and you throughly enjoyed watching him work.

 "Today we are joined by Henry Cavill, known for being Superman, August Walker, Geralt of Rivia and many more. How are you today Henry?" The interviewer said, introducing Henry and smiling at him.

 Henry offered a nice smile back before saying "I'm very good thank you, how are you?"

 "Good thank you, very excited for this interview. So the trailer for season 2 of the Witcher has just been released and we're all very excited" he said making Henry chuckle.

 "I'm excited for everyone to see it" he said. Henry and the interviewer then spoke about the filming of season 2 for a long while. You sat petting Kal who had found comfort in between your legs resting his head on your thighs. You were admiring Henry when the interviewer asked a question about you.

 "So we are joined by your lovely girlfriend who is a massive fan of the Witcher games and books, yes?"

 "We are indeed" Henry said, winking at you before continuing "she's a even bigger nerd about it than me. She's played the Witcher 1 and 2 twice and has played Wild Hunt, 3 times now I think?" he said glancing at you for reassurance, in which you nodded, making him nod to the interviewer.

 "Wow that's impressive" the interviewer said, genuinely impressed.

 "Now we have to ask, do the constant criticism about your age gap affect the both of you, or do you just ignore it?" he said referring to you being quite a bit younger than Henry. 

 "Um, yes and no" he said the gravelly tone of Geralt peaking through a tad. "The age gap isn't a problem in our relationship, we're both adults and we're both fairly mature" he said trying to make light of the situation and making the interview laugh. 

  "No but seriously I am very happy with y/n. She is the most amazing woman in my life, sorry Mum, she is caring and loving and so talented and passionate. The thing that does get annoying about the comments are the ones saying y/n is using me for my money or for the fame. Because that couldn't be any farther from the truth " he said making you smile (and the interviewer). "Anyone who knows the first thing about y/n knows that she is the most career driven person in the world, just because she doesn't share what she does with the world in the same way I do, doesn't mean she doesn't have a job" he said addressing many rumors that said you don't have a job, which quite frankly made you chuckle.

"And its not as if y/n doesn't talk about her job at all, in fact it's something she loves talking about because she's so passionate about it and she's so good at it" he said.

 "She owns her own stables, is that correct?" The interviewer asked reading from a card in his lap, making you smile at how he researched you before this interview (Henry was asked if he was comfortable talking about your relationship, in which he said of course because he often loves talking people's ears off about you).

 "Yes she does. But she also works on film and TV sets" Henry said making the interviewer hum.

 "Her horses have been used many times in films right?" the interviewer said making Henry nod proudly.

 "Zeus who plays Roach in the Witcher is actually one of y/ns horses. She works on TV sets and films, training actors on horses. She helped train all of the actors in the Witcher on their horses, including me. Everyone on set, especially Freya, Anya and Joey, absolutely loved her" he said proudly.

 "I'm even more impressed now. And hopefully that puts some of the rumors to bed. It is honestly so lovely to hear the way you speak about her" the interviewer said making Henry gush a little.

 "She's lovely, I'm very proud of her" Henry said looking off camera at you, making you blush.

 "And she's easy on the eyes too which is a bonus. Think my dog Kal loves her more than me though" he said making you and the interviewer chuckle and making Kal perk up, upon hearing his name.

 They wrapped up the interview after talking about season 2 a little more, showing some teaser videos and playing a game of who's most likely to. Henry thanked the interviewer for being so kind, signing some stuff for him before walking to you, you filming him as he did so.

 He pet Kal on the head before placing a quick kiss to your lips

 "You're too sweet Hen" you said, placing your arms around his waist as his rested around your shoulders.

"Only speaking the truth love. The fans are going to go crazy when they see that interview" he said leaning down to place a proper kiss against your lips, making you sigh against him.

 "Hmm, come home with me" he says in his Geralt voice making you chuckle against him and shoving his chest jokingly, making Kal buck his head in between you which made Henry grunt.

 "Stop getting jealous" he said rubbing behind Kal's ears making him pant up at him.

 "Now who's cheating with his dog?" you said making him chuckle and place his hand in yours.

 "Let's go home" he says, placing Kals leash in his other hand, saying goodbye to the people along the way as you were leaving.

You both got into Henry’s car, Kal sitting inbetween you legs again then posted a video to your Instagram feed.

A curator drove all the way to Montreal to meet the last known heir, a certain Mrs. Julia Nowak, who greeted him on the threshold of a cosy downtown apartment. She offered him a coffee and a slice of a Polish sweet bread: the recipe was a family heirloom, she explained, beaming. She was in her late fifties, a therapist, she said. Her hazel eyes gleamed when she added, in a pleasantly soothing voice that betrayed a hint of excitement: "I must confess I am so incredibly happy that you contacted me about the retrospective. I adore the idea and I will make sure to attend it. Also" she nodded to a wedding picture hung to the wall "did you know that my wife is in politics? She campaigned for the legalisation...yes, Madeleine Fournier: see, you know her! We got married right after the law passed. If anything, your call and project made me twice as happy". She took a pause, smiling over her coffee in remembrance. "Anyway, back to the matter of your visit...yes, as far as I know, I am Zetta's last heir. As you probably know, my family wasn't officially related to her but she stated otherwise in her will". She moved to the couch and gestured the curator to follow her as she opened up one of the boxes and chests piled into the living room and picked out an old album, the leather cover worn at the edges. Dust waltzed in the air as she opened it with caution and gentle care. She showed him a slightly discoloured black and white picture of a young couple kissing for the camera in front of a church. Another wedding picture, from a different era. "Nana Hileni and Papa Maciej's wedding picture. I still remember them even if they both died when I was barely a teen...as if one couldn't bear to live without the other. Or so I like to think. She would help me with the homework, mathematics particularly, and he baked this bread for me till he was too weak to do so. He always claimed that he won Nana's heart with his pastries but she always denied it laughing". She passed another picture of the same couple proudly standing in front of the Nowak family bakery in Hoboken. "Frankly, I believe that Papa's broad shoulders and Marlon Brando smile are more likely to blame for this coup de foudre" she laughed. "And he knew how to deal with her no-nonsense attitude and vice versa. They...balanced each other, if you wish". She picked another picture and handed it to him. A woman was looking down in tender adoration and awe to a baby nestled in her arms looking up at her, outstretching a tiny arm in an attempt to touch her face. "There! This is Dad" she pointed at the baby before turning the picture where someone wrote 'Alex meets Auntie Adele'. Turning it again, she pointed at the woman. "This is Adele Carrem. Or Auntie Adele as I've always heard calling her. Nana's sister and Zetta's publicist and companion" Putting it back into the album, she carefully picked a bunch of other old pictures. "You surely know who this one is" she smiled, handing out the one on top. The photo was rather grainy but you could still recognise the same kid, slightly older, around two, sucking his thumb, cuddled up in Zetta's lap. The actress had aged a little but her features were unmistakable and it was endearing to see her sitting by the fireplace to read that kid with the sleepy face a bedtime story. "Sadly, I have never met them. I wish I did, oh you have no idea...but stories of them lived through in our family" Julia continued. "My Dad loved his Aunties - as he called them - dearly and by what I've heard and read, they loved him in manner as if he was their own. He knew little of them or Zetta's career back then...to him they were just the sweet ladies who would buy him ice-cream in Central Park or take him to see his favourite pictures over and over again at the movie theater. He said he will never forget the afternoons he used to spend with them in a Manhattan cafe that no longer exists around Christmas: Nana and Papa worked like crazy as the festive season approached and the glorious cup of hot chocolate with an elegant puff of cream on top with the Aunties became a tradition to him. He kept it alive somehow as he did the same with me". She handed the curator a bunch of other pictures: Zetta cleaning up Alex's face smeared with jam, the both of them laughing; Zetta posing with Maciej and her Dad at a table in the Hoboken bakery. He eventually mirrored her smile seeing a five years old Alex at the beach all engrossed in building a sandcastle with Hileni and Adele, and he standing at the water edge hand in hand with Miss Carrem, looking out into the distance. "These are family pictures. I'll show you the Zetta's private memorabilia we cherished". Julia searched a little, opening an old chest and handling every item inside with tender care. When she found what she was looking for, she showed the curator an elegant set of smaller boxes containing letters, dried flowers and photos. "I have already received an offer to get these published. I'm still pondering it. Before agreeing, I want to consider throughly if this is a thing they would have wanted, even if they're no longer here" The curator nodded as she kept searching. He skimmed a few letters and smiled as his eyes fall on the photos hidden away in those boxes: the two women sitting together and chatting at Hileni's wedding, Zetta's reading a script, lazily sprawled on a chaise long in her apartment. Some had short lines handwritten on the back, like a promotional picture with "Missing you" written by Zetta herself. The curator showed another to Mrs Nowak: a visibly excited Miss Carrem proudly showing to the camera a document announcing her voter registration. On the back, in Zetta's penmanship: "On the way to vote...my sweet Adele won!". "Oh you didn't know? Auntie Adele was a suffragette! I couldn't believe it when I first heard it! Nana told me that she was in and out jail when they lived in London because of protests. You know, like those suffragettes you read about in history books but less famous. Yet she fought for women's rights and kept fighting for them even in America. She was quite disappointed though by some major decisions of some feminist movements and eventually joined a socialist Union 'more rightfully welcoming working class individuals, immigrants and black brothers and sisters'. It's all in those letters but yeah, you couldn't possibly know. So little is known about her outside family". A little smile drew on her face as she put back the photo. "That photo was taken the day of the first election open to women. I checked the date. I suppose Zetta wanted to immortalise the moment...it was sweet of her, huh? Auntie Adele must have been so proud and overjoyed that day! You know, my Dad was born in 1920 when women's right to vote was legalised nationally and Nana once told me that Auntie commented the lucky coincidence saying she was incredibly happy her nephew would get to live in a fairer world. She was a true force of nature...she never talked much of the sinking of the Titanic just like Zetta and Nana actually but when one day Dad asked...he was barely a child and probably found an old article about the tragedy...Auntie Adele minimised but Nana assured him that her sister saved her life that night, risking her own to go down to the belly of the sinking ship to bring her to safety. Auntie simply shrugged, saying that it was what sisters do and that they made it to the lifeboats only thanks to Zetta, who shouted protests to stubborn officers and eventually found them a spot on a boat. I cannot even bring myself to imagine how scary that must have been: I cried so much when Madeleine took me to see Leo and Kate...to think they were there and it was all real!" She picked a few other objects out the box: a Shakespeare Sonnets book in a leather cover with golden engravings, with a little handwritten dedication 'To Adele, my sonnet 116. Happy birthday! With all my love, Zetta'; old scripts with annotations, a framed photograph of Adele and Zetta slow dancing barefoot in the living room of a gorgeous Long Island mansion. "These have a sentimental value" Mrs Nowak noted, her voice betraying the flicker of emotions as she picked it up. She took a deep sigh and continued. "I remember the day I told Dad I was gay as it was yesterday. We had always been quite close so it came natural to tell him first. We were in his car, he had come straight from college to pick me up at ice-skating practice. I..I dropped it in the middle of a conversation, bracing myself for the worst. I heard so many bad stories about coming out to your parents I was terrified of the consequences but I couldn't hide it anymore. I mean, yes, in public: bullies get even nastier if they know and I didn't want people shouting me "dyke" at school. But I needed to get it out of my chest...with someone at least. He kept quiet for a moment and I felt like drowning in shame. But then he spoke". A nostalgic tender smile formed Julia's lips. "He said he had two amazing Aunties that contributed to make his life a wondrous adventure. It was thanks to them that he, the son of a baker, could attend a prestigious college, for instance: they offered to pay for it without asking a penny back. They also helped him write his first romantic letter to his childhood sweetheart and consoled him when the little girl turned him down. But his Aunties had a secret, he added. He said: to my kid eyes they were no less a couple than Mom and Dad and at home we all treated them in manner but one day Mom made me promise to behave differently when we were in public. In public I would refer to her sister as 'Auntie Adele' but call Zetta by her name. He didn't get it and it took some getting used to. He soon noticed that even the Aunties behaved a bit differently out in the sun: they wouldn't hold hands or use endearing words in the street or when other people were around. They simply behaved like good friends did. He understood it later when he, as stubborn as a mule, asked them directly". Julia gently grazed her fingers on the glass of the framed photograph, caressing it. "And they told me everything, he said. That they were in love, just like mom and dad were, but people out there could be uncomfortable and extremely rude to women loving other women and men loving other men. That they kept their companionship a secret in public because those people had no problems with women being friends and they didn't want to have bad words or worse happening to them. I remember asking him what he thought about it. He smiled. 'I cried. Since Auntie Zetta mentioned people claiming that women like them were sick and would burn in hell, I actually started crying. I sobbed desperately in her arms, crying that I didn't want them to burn in hell, I loved my Aunties and I was happy they loved each other. Eventually they explained me it was just a vile lie spread my malignant people. But I got quite a scare and kept staring at them with puffy red eyes and my face wet with tears for a while. It required lots of cuddling to bring a smile back on my face'. He shook his head, laughing of his endearing naivety. Then he pulled over and looked at me. He continued: 'I still don't get why people keep spreading those mean lies but I know for sure that my Aunties weren't sick and didn't end up in hell and so won't you. Don't believe bullshits like that for a split second, okay? And I also want you to remember that it doesn't change a thing for me and mom too. You will always be my little girl, our little girl and we love you'. We shared a long hug before driving back home. On the way back he insisted to buy my favourite chicken and waffles for dinner, saying mom's veggie soup could wait. For my birthday, a month later or so, he asked me to follow him to the attic and showed me this chest. To meet the Aunties that 'would have surely been there for me'". She tipped away a tear. "I told you I married Madeleine right after the legalisation of same-sex marriages. My wedding was also the last public event Mom and Dad attended together before his health worsened irremediably. He passed away last year". For a moment she looked on the verge of tears but she recovered quickly. "Sorry...anyway, that day Dad insisted on walking me down the aisle even if he was getting weak. He beamed with pride when a friend fixed a rainbow ribbon to his jacket. Later at the lunch he read a speech he had written for the day, his hand shaking. He shared the story of his Aunties. He said that despite the hardships their situation forced upon them, they had quite a happy life together, a happiness carefully hidden from the world. He wished us to find something similar to what they shared without needing to hide anymore. He said Adele and Zetta would have been so happy and proud to celebrate with all of us that day" Mrs. Nowak picked the Shakespeare Sonnet book and gave him a fond look. "He brought this to the wedding. And he read for us the sonnet 116, the one Zetta mentioned in her dedication. You know, the one that starts with 'Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments..." ----------------------- A few months later the exhibition on old Hollywood queer cinema and artists opened. On the other side, the hidden half of her life. Her life with Adele no one suspected back then. A life kept secret that now unveiled in front of the eyes of the visitors. The curators discovered that finding public pictures of Miss Carrem was nearly impossible, true to the nickname she acquired as time went by: The Shadow. She stayed at Zetta's side until and even after she stopped acting, showing rare loyalty and devotion, but ever surrounded by this mystery allure. No one, even the most stubborn reporters managed to know anything about her and she was soon dismissed as a Titanic survivor, possibly a fan, who worked as Zetta's secretary and somehow gained her respect. Little they knew about the depth of their relationship and what stacks of secret letters and family memories revealed of the life of Miss Carrem. A panel finally told her story and her secret achievements: Adele, or better Adal, kept fighting for a fairer world and society her whole life and marched for women's right to vote on the famous parade in 1915. She also passed the teaching of Edith Garrud to her American sisters. The only pictures of her came from the Nowak family, except for one. The only photograph of a public appearance of Miss Carrem as well as the only known public appearance of Zetta and Adele. An old grainy photo accurately framed showed Adele shaking hands with The Unsinkable Molly Brown on a podium. In her free hand a shiny medal and a few steps behind the mayor of New York. According to the panel, the survivors' committee founded by Mrs. Brown decided to award Miss Carrem a medal for bravery and a generous check "to help her and her sister starting a new life in America". With great surprise, Miss Carrem received the medal and the check, thanked the board but refused the honors. Instead, she asked to deliver them both to the family of a certain Charlie Stoke, a stewart that lost his life in the sinking to save her life and those of many passengers. She added that her friend expressed the desire to study naval engineering one day and she wished that the money kindly offered to her would be enough to establish a scholarship for boys like him across the ocean. In another picture, Miss Carrem and her sister chatted with Moll Brown in company of Zetta. Eventually, other philanthropists and wealthy socialites signed checks for her cause so that the Stoke family received a generous contribution too. And today, as another picture confirmed, the faculty of naval engineering of the University of Newcastle hosts a marble engraving of Charlie Stoke: to his memory a scholarship had been instituted one year after on the anniversary of the sinking. Since 1913 it has been helping students of poor background to get an education and improve their life. Zetta herself became a philanthropist during her Renaissance and ever since. The first act of her new phase of her life was joining the Moll Brown survivors committee to provide help to the second and third class passengers families and survivors. Some said that the tragedy she witnessed touched her heart, other claimed that it was to be attributed to the influence of her publicist. Jokingly, she used to say that after all, she had too much money yet all she could have wished for in her life, so why not doing some good with it? A considerable donation under her and Mr King was received by the main hospital during the Spanish flu pandemic; she was particularly active in providing financial help to struggling neighbourhoods and female education institutions. In the middle of the room, a long glass display hosted the Shakespeare Sonnets opened at sonnet 116 and a selection of the private correspondence between Zetta and Adele. My darling, You will receive this letter tomorrow morning when I'll be already off to Chicago. The suitcases are ready and packed, this is a goodnight note scribbled the night before leaving you to remind you how much I love you and care about you. Loving you always, Adele Only one letter was copied on a panel of its own on the main wall side by side with a blow-up of the picture of Adele and Zetta slow-dancing barefoot and free, for a blessed moment immortalised in a discreet shot. Adele pressing a tender kiss on Zetta's forehead, drawing a soft smile on the acrtress' lips. Many visitors commented it was heartwarming to see such a photograph that conveyed the intimacy and the warmth of affection radiating from the dancing couple. Some said that Zetta was even more beautiful like that: free, hair slightly askew and genuinely happy, loved. What stole their hearts away though was the letter attached to it. It was no surprise that the curators decided to name the retrospective Underwater. Dearest Adele, Forgive me for the tone of this letter. Masked Singer Season 5 Episode 3 Recap: Group A Returns With a Wildcard (Commentary & Guesses)

Hi guys! Welcome or welcome back to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. Ok, so I'm on time this time I swear (I try to do these the weekend after the show airs or Friday), and now we are starting to get the wildcards which was super exciting and Joel Mchale was guest judging so it was a very fun episode to watch! We’re back onto Group A but this time someone new joins the group, so stay tuned until the end to talk about that someone. Anyways, let’s get into it, starting with the eliminated contestant:

Commentary: honestly, I am not even the slightest bit surprised that he got eliminated... he should have gone home earlier but that’s neither here nor there, the Masked Singer likes to do that to us so whatever. But like honestly this is gonna sound mean, and look, not everyone is a singer, and he gave it the good old college try and I respect the hell out of that, but omg all I gotta say about his performance of Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash is yikes. That’s it, that’s all I gotta say about that... anyways, let’s reveal this rodent or mammal, idk man who told you guys I was an animal expert?!

Danny Trejo

Yeah, I guessed it baby! I even have proof, just look at my 1st recap of the season and it’s there, I got it! Yayyy! Anyways, I mean I know him, I have seen him around ofc (he has done a lot of acting and he even has a restaurant and everything), but like he can’t sing and that’s ok, he had fun, it’s what matters. Good job Danny Trejo and thank God he’s gone because finally my ears can be in peace.

Having said that, let’s move onto our remaining 4 (yes, 4 because wildcard baby!):

1. Seashell 🐚

Commentary: Her performance of Confident by Demi Lovato was to me much better than her last performance. It seemed like she was more confident (hehe no pun intended) in this one, kind of came into her own and let out the power in her voice. She was a bit timid and nervous in the first performance and it kind of reminded me of how Jellyfish started out, but this one was a lot more diva and powerful, I enjoyed it a lot. I really love Seashell, she is quickly becoming one of my favorite contestants (except nobody can beat my favorite who you will see in a moment)

Tamera Mowry

Clues/Reasoning: ok, like this one I feel super confident about and the clues kind of seal the deal for me:

The doodle of “Seashell with the shell mask on”= reference to the intro of Sister Sister

A certain shell man asked her out and the baseball on the screen= she is talking about her husband, Fox News correspondent Adam Housley (which btw is another reason why she is on this show, bc it runs in the Fox family), who used to be a professional baseball player (oh and the required her to do things she was scared of means that he helped her feel more comfortable about being on TV aka when she was on the Real)

2 minute stopwatch= she’s older than her twin sister, Tia, by 2 minutes haha 😂 (this was a very weird thing to be like yeah bro ik that... again I say, Google is a magical thing)

2. Robopine 🦔

Commentary: He sang All of Me by John Legend and honestly song choice was 👌, like I would have picked that for him too. It was absolutely stunning and I can just close my eyes and enjoy the song, which that’s what some of the best ballad performances tend to do. I absolutely loved it, he is my favorite, if you can’t tell, and this was my favorite performance of the night. I have a prediction that Robopine might make it to the finals honestly because he is just that amazing.

I am changing my guess and I am more confident now with:

Tyrese Gibson

Reasoning/Clues: alright so I know that he isn’t 60 but I have a feeling he is lying about that and that he’s from Costa Rica (that’s too direct of a clue to be true you know and I feel like he is lying... Ken did say in the beginning that Robopine is the most confusing, so I do think that he is lying)... anyways clue time:

A lot of superhero clues= he will be playing one in Jared Leto’s Morbius film from Marvel

The lying means something = he has an album called Alter Ego, someone in the YouTube comments told me that he did a shoot with GQ called “60 the new 30” so that’s where the age thing might come from

IT SOUNDS A LOT LIKE HIM, OK?! Legit this is the most logic bomb I can give you right here... he’s trying to fool us but the voice is what matters... if you wanna compare voices go ahead, here’s a video that can help (it helped me even though the background singers kinda took over, but you get the point, it was live)

3. Russian Dolls 🪆

Commentary: THEY DIVIDEDDDDD... omg there’s 3 now! I FREAKING CALLED IT!! Anyways, they sang Wonder by Shawn Mendes and again I say their harmonies are so on point, it’s fantastic! I throughly enjoyed this performance, it was great! Their voices work really great together (ofc duh because they are a band... they have to be) and it was a really great song choice as well.

Again, I am gonna double down here (and them being 3 makes it even more convincing for me):

Hanson (All 3 of them this time)

Reasoning/Clues: ok, so now that there’s 3 of them, I don’t have to sound dumb and be like ummmmm it’s 2 of the Hanson brothers, which two I am not sure, but two of them. This time I can say it is all of Hanson, all 3 of them! WOOO! This performance really solidified it for me. Anyways, here are the logic bombs aka clues:

He was doing what he loved and rushed to the hospital = Zac, one of the brothers, was involved in a motorcycle accident in which he (get this, it’s really bad like reading it on Google made me go ouch that must have been a terrible accident) broke three ribs, his collarbone, and scapula.

The fire truck= the fire department was involved in the accident, which he spoke about in October 2019

4. Surprise! It’s Wildcard Time: Introducing the Orca (whale) 🐳

Commentary: ok, so he performed We’re Not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sister, and it was meh, it was ok. He sounds like a comedian, and his voice is so familiar, it’s killing me. Anyways, he is talk singing the entire time and there are parts where he sounds out of breath, so I don’t think he is a professional singer. The costume though (since I couldn’t really review that beforehand) looks like a pool floatie on top and a blue version of Banana from season 3 from the chest down, which is kind of cool (I would give it a 8/10 if I were to rate it). I really love that top head part, it looks super great, the costume designers killed it.

Ok, this one I am more unsure about but I am gonna say that I am between these 2:

Bill Burr or Adam Sandler

Reasoning/Clues: I am gonna have to skip this one... because I am not sure about this one, I am just going off of voice, the clues confuse me, but you have any ideas, feel free to comment them please, I need all the help I can get.

Reverse Harem Anime Recommendations

I’m not quite clued in on new anime but from my experience, reverse harem anime don’t seem to be trending (They just don’t seem to be making new ones!!!???). As a littl’un I’ve been finding it difficult to find good reverse harem anime so here, recommendations for those of you who are finding it difficult:

(These are all my personal opinions, therefore they may not suit everyone out there, don’t take my word for it.)

Diabolik Lovers

The classic Diabolik Lovers, needless to say art is top-notch, loads of ikemen to drool over.

Plot: Favorite cliche of girl in the clutches of vampire brothers.

Reason for recommendation: Well, tons of ikemen vampires for one. There is some semblance of plot AKA something interesting actually does go on and it’s not just a ton of guys chasing a girl (though that does stand out as a main theme here). The MC is weak (Yeah, I’m not gonna hide that) BUT she does have personality which is something, escpecially in reverse harem anime. There are 2 seasons - so more ikemen (They just get better and better) and for those who like slightly deranged characters with shady morals, this is the one for you.

The only thing: there’s no season three, so if you want more, you’ll have to buy the video game.

Amnesia

I’d say this is another classic in the circle, but there are quite a lot of bad reviews of it, so why am I recommending it? 1. The art again is pretty top-notch for a reverse harem anime (Loads of Ikemen) 2. The OP Zoetrope is actually really good.

Plot: MC wakes up with no memories, goes on a journey to regain memories whilst meeting handsome guys.

Reason for recommendation: Thought the plot sounds pretty cliche (Well, ok, it is), the story turns out to be a whole lot darker and deeper. Each male lead has their own ‘difficulties’, and as a whole it just made an impact on me, as in I wanted to buy the video game after watching the anime.

The only thing: The Plot may seem jumbled and inconsistent due to it being adapted from an otome game, and the story does not reach a conclusion (That’s probably why there are a ton of bad reviews). There are elements of romance, but it’s not as strong as some other anime e.g Diabolik Lovers.

Akatsuki no yona

Another classic whoooo! Artwork: great, Music: hmmmm, eh? (For me at least, OPs and EDs are pretty important to me).

Plot: Princess finding mythical dragons (ikemen) to save her country.

Reason for recommendation: PLOT, there’s an actual PLOT forgoodnesssake! Yep, there is actually logic behind the events that occur, and there are reasons for each guy to like her (they don’t just fall in love with her magically). There is character development especially for the MC, it’s amazing really. The world the story’s set in is quite unique as well - historical + mythical dragons.

The only thing: Well, you have to bear with the MC, she is quite selfish and ‘spoilt’ at the beginning, and I guess in some ways, it is quite slow to start (romance aspect, character development).

Kamigami no asobi

This one probably doesn’t class as a classic, but I throughly throughly enjoyed it. Art: Again, amazing ikemen, Music: Can’t quite remember but does it matter?

Plot: Magic sword transports MC to a different world with roman gods at school.

Reason for recommendation: Plot successfully attacked all my sweet spots: Isekai, high school, roman gods. We have another MC with character and her own personality. Originally rather ‘mundane’ plot turns slightly dark as the anime goes on, and the male leads are not all generic, due to the fact that they are based of the roman gods. You get to learn some mythology as well! There is some actual true romance in it as well (Which is a strange thing to say considering it is a reverse harem anime)

The only thing: One season!!!! WHY????? I need more! (Get the video game) uhh.

Hanayaka nari waga ichizoku kinetograph

Like Amnesia this is another anime with quite a lot of bad reviews, so why am I still recommending it to everyone? I don’t know to be honest... I just stuck in my mind. Art: IKEMEN, music: Can’t remember, probably meh.

Plot: Maid MC working in big mansion, serving the young ikemen masters in the Taisho era.

Reason for recommendation: I’m genuinely still wondering why... 1. It’s set in an historical era which is quite fascinating. 2. Ikemen???? I don’t actually know, but it just keeps popping out whenever I think of reverse harem! Am I into guys ‘bullying’ the MC?

The only thing: MC is a weak character compared to the MCs in the other recommendations. Some of the ikemen get on your nerves due to their arrogant behaviour. (See, I don’t actually know why I’m recommending this, it’s just good in a weird way)

Hakuouki

This is a definite classic, and one I have a very strange connection to. Art: I don’t even need to say anything, music: pretty good.

Plot: MC searches for her missing father disguised as a guy, and ends up living with the shinsengumi. (Very very abbreviated plot)

Reason for recommendation: Haha, so this is the story of me and this anime. I actually watched it three times before actually finishing the first season. First time I only made it through the 1st episode before dropping, 2nd time made it through 3 episodes... Yeah, and yet now I’m recommending it. The plot goes from Eh? To OH MY GOD WHAT IS THIS really really fast. (Don’t want to spoil anything but there are vampires in the edo period). Storyline is very important and heavy here, it sometimes requires some understanding of the policial ongoings during the edo period. Don’t get me wrong though, there is romance in the anime, and gaaaahhh the whole thing’s just sad.

The only thing: The romance is slow, you won’t see it right away despite there being so many ikemen hanging around. The MC is also slightly weak at the beginning BUT she powers up quite drastically in terms of character as the story goes on.

Yumeiro Patisserie

Slightly old anime aimed at younger audiences, but it’s just too cute! Art: hmmm, not as ikemen as the others but Cute, Music: can’t recall anything.

Plot: Clumsy MC who loves desserts gets accepted into prestigious baking academy.

Reason for recommendation: Again, plot. Can’t say this enough really. It’s an upgrade sort of anime where the MC goes from terrible at baking to... well, amazing at baking (Sort of similar to a baking version of shokugeki no Soma, though Soma was already rlly good at cooking). Interestingly enough, the Male leads dislike her at the beginning, but through the MC’s effort and quirky personality fall in love with her. The whole anime is generally really cutesy and healing.

The only thing: It’s aimed at younger audiences, so MC starts out at 14 and grows up. There are a LOT of episodes, so if you are older, you may require some patience.

1. Uta no prince sama (Not enough romance for my liking)

2. Brothers conflict (too many brothers?)

3. Dance with devils (I dunno, the singing in it is kind of off-putting)

4. Meiji Tokyo Renka (The MC and plot are both strangely lacking?)

5. Nil Admirari no tenbin (Hmmm... the plot is slightly distracting)

6. Magic kyun renaissance (How do I say this? Just not memorable)

7. Kenka banchou otome (Just cringe)

Voltron Legendary Defender (I refuse to acknowledge that seasons 7-8 happened lmao. Still love the show and characters otherwise. Working on a fun rewrite with my friends.)

Young Justice (Finally watched season 4 and I am now in the process of recovery from the emotional damage I received from this season jfjfjfj)

Pokémon (Including most niche games like the ranger series and mystery dungeons)

Monster Hunter Stories (Need more of these games honestly. They’re so fun and beautiful. Especially Stories 2. God I hope we get another stories game that continues with the characters from the first one. I think that would be so cool seeing them interact with you as the rider being older.)

Mech Cadets (I just finished season one on Netflix and I adore it! Beautiful Mech designs and just so much diversity in this show! Please give it a watch if you’re look for something like pacific rim and evangelion! And the art style is so prettyyy!!)

Castlevania (Just finished watching it and it’s amazing! I was throughly impressed with the story and all the characters. Trevor, Alucard, and Sypha were just so refreshing and fun to watch. They all have great chemistry and bounce off each other well. Loved seeing all the vampire diversity too.)

Castlevania Nocturne (OMG!! What a way to start a first season! Gosh I can’t wait for the second season! We got even more diversity and dope magic fights. Still great chemistry between the characters. Also, how dare they end season one like that! I need season 2 as soon as possible! Ahhh!!!)

Transformers (AUTOBOTS ROLL OUT!! I have had *major* transformers brain for the past month now. I finished reading through mtmte and lost light and cried my eyes out😭 I’ve rewatched my beloved show transformers prime and got to watch shows I hadn’t watched yet such as rescue bots, transformers animated, and I even managed to watch some of the cyberverse show. I watched season one of robots in disguise too and they did Bumblebee and Optimus so dirty!😭 Anyways, I’m deep in my transformers phase and I don’t plan to leave anytime soon🩵)

hellatus survival part 2

I am back with Hellatus survival guide! Let’s see what we got in store for today...

Okay! So my tip of this edition:

Find an episode. It can be any episode, any season. Just choose a random episode. Now that you have chosen a episode, throughly watch it through. Scan it for any plot holes or any cool things about it. Note any new information that they find out about some monster. Look for what got accomplished in the episode and how it advanced the plot. Research the episode, finding out who wrote it and directed it. Find out who played the minor roles. Even memorize a few scenes or bits of dialogue, if you can. Now, make a PowerPoint or presentation about the episode. Include the tiny details and pictures. Add cool effects and transitions. Make it so thorough that someone would think you wrote and starred in the episode.

Boom, you are now expert on that episode. What does that have to do with surviving Hellatus? Well, it’s a fun way to pass the time and you get to become an expert on an episode or two! They have said before that when you reread a book, you notice new details! It might be the same for television shows! (Spoiler alert: it is. I did a whole science project on it and all the test results supported that theory.)

Add the spices mentioned above and finally the pre cooked rice.

Add the remaining seasoning and stir fry for 3 more minutes or until its fully cooked..

Note that you can do the last step in batches, so that the rice can be fried fully..

For the chicken.

Heat the oil in a pan and semi fry the chicken, to sunrise color.

Place 1/2 cup of oil in a pan.

Add the habanero peppers, spring onions, and seasoning to taste.

Add your semi fried chicken, and toss throughly.

Add the onions, curry and chicken seasoning mix.

Toss for about 1 minute and turn off the heat.

Serve with the fried rice.
