With the genetically modified attack tribbles come questions.
A) Did starfleet forget the origin story of the humble tribble, Or did their hubris interfere and allow them to, once again, meddle with their genetic code for their own gain?? (it’s a short trek. watch it. I was howling.) Imagine a tribble infestation but the tribbles are carnivores? That’s a made for syfy movie if i ever saw one.
B) Are regular bog-standard tribbles Not round as assumed, but in fact a hedgehog like creature that curls into a ball at rest that just has fuzz instead of spines? Are tribbles Actually pancakes with mouths and strange possibly leg like apendages?
C) do regular ones have those big old teeth to chew with, or is that part of the modification???
I need like, a stat book on tribbles immediately. And frankly, there have been Far weirder Trek books published so that’s no excuse not to do it, so I think they should actually do it. Just for me.

Okay gang, here's a silly little game. I've assembled six teams of blended Narnia and Tolkien/LotR characters. Here they are:
For bonus points, tell me in the tags where you're going on your road trip, who has what role (driving, snacks, aux) on the road, and what you'll stop off and see along the way

rechecking all the asks i've gotten, and, oh boy. they all date back from August 20
so i'll be closing the inbox tomorrow morning when I wake up, and keeping it closed until it's gone down somewhat. Or at least until the box only has big story/lore points left.
So uhh :O !!! prepare for that!!!

since more of like the class swap etc started going up every once in a while there will be a question in my inbox that would take me literally multiple comics' worth of art to answer adequately lol. and I don't wanna do that under an ask I want that to have its own space! so if I don't answer ur question know that it's probably that^ above there and not that I think ur question sucks

if we may be so crude as to ask. what size are the boys (quinncent) packing in the meat department
asdfghjkl god bless
lucky for you, I *have* thought about this, thank you very much
nsfw under the cut
lmaoo ok, so Vincent is definitely bigger 🤙 He's got a nicely-sized Thang, slightly darker than the rest of his skintone. It's decent while hanging, but it perks up to a pretty big and thick size under the right circumstances, lol 👍 no complaints
Quinn is fairly average, maybe a bit small when flaccid. It has a good thickness for gripping, lmao, but doesn't get too long when excited. The head is quite pink....
oh, and they're both uncut 🙌👑
thanks for listening 🤌

*politely raises hand* Ayo do you have any thoughts on if fear toxin is even anything to worry about in the face of the Courage of Achilles?
Like Billy Batson would obviously have a terrible time if he’s exposed to it but would Captain Marvel, setting aside the fact he doesn’t need to breathe, be fine?
I don’t have a penny to give but I request thy thoughts.
Hey there!
So my answer here is two fold:
Technically there have been canon comics where Captain Marvel is affected by fear toxin (Shazam #12 i believe), bringing his greatest fears as Billy to the surface despite him being powered up. There have also been other non fear toxin induced events to a similar effect.
But to be perfectly honest, the comic I'm thinking of largely included him being affected by fear toxin as an excuse for a more experienced Batman to save the day and highlight his own inexperienced fighting style.
So as with most things, Cap's immunity to toxins (including fear toxin) varies based on what the writers want to happen in their story.
Personally, I think that he should be immune to standard fear toxin or at the very least be able to power through the hallucinations because of the courage of Achilles. I mean what's the point of having supernatural courage as a power if you can't overcome a chemical to induce fear? Especially if perfectly ordinary human Batman can do it with sheer willpower?
Mostly I think a lot of people have the tendency to downplay Cap's abilities while at the same time hyping up Batman and his rogues. If Cap's powers are actually understood and respected by the writers there really shouldn't be much to worry about with fear toxin (unless there's a a team up with a magical villain enhancing it or Billy is caught in it before he can transform. Then we might have an interesting story).
So that's my two cents on the subject! I'd love to other people chime in!

sooo. im thinking a bit about what cosplay im gonna make next, and i think ive narrowed it down to a couple options, but i want you to have all the options!
other options on the list include: Sailor Neptune (school uniform) - Sailor Moon (i think ive got a group for this!), Janet - The Good Place, Loki - Avengers Academy (the one i started last year), or Female Stede - Our Flag Means Death. a lot of these projects i have some level of plan for & wanna do some day, i just have stronger opinions on Kyoko/Toph. but if any of those sound more interesting to you! i am down. i wouldnt list options i didnt want
propaganda + images below
Kyoko is a costume that i have been planning for SO long, and finally feel like my skills are somewhere where ill be able to do her justice. i have a lot of the materials for this costume, including the wig, and even have a pattern plan for the main part of the garment. HOWEVER. my main material is velvet. and none of my other materials are any nicer to work with. i want to make the boots from scratch, i want to learn new wig making techniques, i want to make the spear to its full potential. this is going to be a big, complicated, time consuming project, and ill probably put it down at least once for my own mental wellness. its a dream costume of mine and i want to do it justice. its going to be a challenge, super technical and precise, but i think itll be worth it. its also going to be less comfortable, corset & velvet are not... the best con combo (also its a shorter skirt than i usually like, so ill be emotionally uncomfortable)
(also the more i think about it the more im... eh about the colour of my main velvet so um. might end up rebuying that)
Toph on the other hand, i have none of the materials for. i do have a source idea for the cream fabrics but nothing else at all. my design plan is sorta NATLA inspired- still the animated Toph costume, just drawing on the fabric and textures the netflix show used (especially with the Kyoshi warriors), which means some Sourcing will have to be done to find fabrics with the right weight & drape for my plans. this style of looser patterning is also new to me, not to mention pants.... though i think Toph would be a good project to avenge myself there honestly.
in general, this is gonna be a much easier make, and a nice comfy costume for cons, but at the same time, its a lot of expense out the gate, fabric shopping i dont neeeeed to do, and definitely still has some areas that test my skills (wig in Particular). i havent put as much time and energy into thinking about this build, but it has been on my list for some time and i wont regret making it.
(pictures of the others i mentioned. obviously no picture for my stede design but i was thinking of drawing inspo from the historical dresses in the show- some of marys, and evelyns, and the crowd scenes- and obviously stede himself, and then also reference real history. i dont own anything suitable for this time period so the first project would be stays i suspect!)

how fluffy are andalites? like 20% fluffy or 50% fluffy?
Okay, you know beagles? You know how their fur is mostly coarse and tough to protect them from branches and thorns, but their ears are so so soft? That's my headcanon for andalites. They mostly have coarse deer-like or rabbit-like fur on most of their bodies, but their faces and ears are as ridiculously soft as a well-groomed golden retriever.

🪆would love one featuring Russian thoughts on God! ✝️
SO. I could have sworn that I've posted "Avvakum in Pustozyorsk" on this blog before, but I can't seem to find it so here it is.
(For context, this is written in the voice of a 17th century Russian Orthodox priest and religious dissident (an "Old Believer"). Avvakum was sent to the military outpost of Pustozyorsk where he was imprisoned four fourteen years, then eventually burned at the stake. It uses this historical voice to reflect on the religious persecution of the Soviet era. Also, it's fairly long, so I've highlighted my favorite stanzas.)
Avvakum in Pustozyorsk
The walls of my church
are the ribs round my heart;
it seems life and I
are soon bound to part.
My cross now rises,
traced with two fingers.
In Pustozyorsk it blazes;
its blaze will linger.
I’m glorified everywhere,
vilified, branded;
I have already become
the stuff of legend:
I was, people say,
full of anger and spite;
I suffered, I died
for the ancient rite.
But this popular verdict
is ugly nonsense;
I hear and reject the
implied censure.
A rite is nothing –
neither wrong nor right;
a rite is a trifle
in God’s sight.
But they attacked our faith
and the ways of the past,
in all we’d learned as children,
and taken to heart.
In their holy garments,
in their grand hats,
with a cold crucifix
in their cold hands,
in thrall to a terror
clutching their souls,
they drag us to jails and
herd us to scaffolds.
We don’t debate doctrine,
of books and their age;
we don’t debate virtues
of fetters and chains.
Our dispute is of freedom,
and the right to breathe –
about our Lord’s will
to bind as he please.
The healers of souls
chastised our bodies;
while they schemed and plotted,
we ran to the forests.
Despite their decrees,
we hurled our words out
of the lion’s mouth
and into the world.
We called for vengeance
against their sins
along with the Lord;
we sang poems and hymns.
The words of the Lord
were claps of thunder.
The Church endures;
it will never go under.
And I, unyielding,
reading the Psalter,
was brought to the gates
of the Andronikov Monastery.
I was young;
I endured every pain:
hunger, beatings,
interrogations.
A winged angel
shut the eyes of the guard,
brought me cabbage soup
and a hunk of bread.
I crossed the threshold –
and I walked free.
Embracing my exile,
I walked to the East.
I held services
by the Amur River,
where I barely survived
the winds and blizzards.
They branded my cheeks
with brands of frost;
by a mountain stream
they tore out my nostrils.
But the path to the Lord
goes from jail to jail;
the path to the Lord
never changes.
And all too few,
since Jesus’s days,
have proved able to bear
God’s all-seeing gaze.
Nastasia, Nastasia,
do not despair;
true joy often wears
a garment of tears.
Whatever temptations
may beat in your heart,
whatever torments
may rip you apart,
walk on in peace
through a thousand troubles
and fear not the snake
that bites at your ankles –
though not from Eden
has this snake crawled;
it is an envoy of evil
from Satan’s world.
Here, birdsong
is unknown;
here one learns patience
and the wisdom of stone.
I have seen no colour
except lingonberry
in fourteen years
spent as a prisoner.
But this is not madness,
nor a waking dream;
it is my soul’s fortress,
its will and freedom.
And now they are leading me
far away and in fetters;
my yoke is easy,
my burden grows lighter.
My track is swept clean
dusted with silver;
I’m climbing to heaven
on wings of fire.
Through cold and hunger,
through grief and fear,
towards God, like a dove,
I rise from the pyre.
O far-away Russia –
I give you my vow
to return from the sky,
forgiving my foes.
May I be reviled,
and burned at the stake;
may my ashes be cast
on the mountain wind.
There is no fate sweeter,
no better end,
than to knock, as ash,
at the human heart.
