The collector is just there for the laughs, and sometimes helps Philip plan something wild (but like, it'd be funny)

feelin like that dude who ate an individual slice of cake alone in his car just to have a single thing to himself that he didnt have to share with anybody or make anybody else’s business. not his wife wanting some or kids begging for a lick of frosting, just a moment for himself to be himself by himself and enjoy something all for him. quite literally as i was plating my small batch of cookies my mom comes in and goes OOHH COOKIES HUH??? THATS FUNNN LOOK WHAT A FUN THING YOU DID like i cannot even make cookies at 4 in the fucking morning without her finding out about it. and of course the feeling is guilt; i look like the asshole for getting upset since she didnt do anything wrong. but she “caught” me, as she always does, and that’s the real message. 

my mom is such an overwhelmingly oppressive force in my life. i want to be able to move out and be independent so badly. im going to be fucking 32 this year. and every single year has felt exactly the same for the last ten, where im just stagnant and stymied at every turn. ever since i had to come home from college because i got hit by that fucking car, ive felt like i’ll never be able to escape. i cant sleep at night because she snores through the walls, i cant have a single conversation with her without her turning it into a therapy session for her (despite me setting boundaries, kicking her out of my room, and nagging her to see an ACTUAL THERAPIST). i even struggle with my own therapy because i know she’s listening in the next room. i cant withdraw from my own bank account without her seeing. the car i drive and the insurance on it is specifically in her name, and she keeps procrastinating on giving me the title (despite assuring me it’s “my” car). and of course, her hoarding. my parents have so much control over my life that it feels insurmountable to get out from under it. and they dont want me to leave. my mom keeps calling me her “roommate”, as if i selected her as a candidate to live with. as if i looked at all my options and chose my mother as a roommate.

r crumb is a fucking asshole, but there was a documentary that delved into his family life, where his brother and mother lived together, both severely depressed, and the brother morosely commented how he would probably never be able to leave, as he had to take care of their aging mother. he made self-deprecating comments about how he was stuck there while robert got to move on, and eventually he just killed himself. the only way for him to break the tether was for him to take his own life. i saw that documentary as a teenager and it’s haunted me ever since.

it’s so fucking cliche and stupid but tumblr is genuinely the only place i can be myself and express myself. i can’t put up pictures on my walls so i put them on my blog. i used to be able to draw with the touchpad, so i loved making silly doodles for friends about whatever dumb shit came to mind, without the pressure of it needing to be “worth my degree” or profitable. i cant express my political opinions, as scant as they are, because my family is full of conservatives. and despite my mom cornering me and forcing me to come out to her, she’s quite comfortable being a bigot, only making efforts to “be woke” so as not to upset me, rather than from a place of empathy. 

tumblr is the only place my parents cant find me, mostly because they have no fucking idea how to use the site. everything else, no matter what it is, they’ll eventually find out, because no matter where i go and what i do, i have to fucking come back here. i feel like unless i can make a full, clean break from my parents—my own car, my own bank account, a job or school where they can’t just “swing by” and visit—i’m never going to get to be my own person. im never going to be free. but i dont know if im strong enough to break away with absolutely nothing. i dont think im strong enough to survive on my own with nothing to my name.

im...not sure if its royal edition?? I think windows edition has all the features of royal edition, although im not completely sure. I think luna has a cutscene in Insomnia thats only in royal edition, so once im there ill be able to tell. technically im in Insomnia now but ive time traveled back and it might be a while before i push on to the finale. after dealing with Altissia --> the start of Insomnia linearly i wanted some time to chill with the bros and pretend

everything is fine for a while. it has been a WILD ride for sure and yeah I haven't even started up any of the dlc yet! theres so much content!! ive been practicing playing as the other bros during medium-hard combat which has kept it feeling really fresh too. also its hilarious just blasting bad guys with a bazooka while the other people are in there swinging around swords and knives. and i haven't done any of the crossover quests yet, which seem big and exciting!

ill be forever sad that i missed the assassins festival but theres definitely plenty to do that I'm excited for. and im getting really into the fishing!! charmed is definitely the right word like..its not perfect at all but this game is so genuinely endearing with its characters personalites and development and its themes and music as well and it really does some things SO well.

hell yeah pc is royal edition with a bunch of other shit and the dlcs (bar ardyn) incorporated, dont worry, also i would die for that one cindy in a decent outfit mod i know the exact one youre on about LOL (also i can recommend you some other mods if u like!!)

if i can share some knowledge with you right quick cuz i had the same problem and wouldve died to have someone tell me i went from barely 20fps on a good day to being able to run multiple programs with ffxv in the background; specialk is a very quick install and majorly helped with multithreading; otherwise for the in game options are using low resolution texture pack (assets option); shadows look near visually identical on the lowest option compared to the highest; all nvidia effects can be turned off with no significant graphic change; turning off anti aliasing entirely genuinely makes the game look better for me; i can post my full settings if itll help you and ive also read through a few tutorials for modding around lag so i can try and help you with that, i do get pretty major lag spikes though and frequently find it near impossible to stream/record, but i manage to nail that 60fps on average if im solely running ffxv with a few cut corners like those

also dont blame you with altissia, ngl i boiled through the story rollercoaster right quick after exploring most of the open world before even touching altissia and ended up ignoring all postgame content for starting a new save immediately and replaying just to get that hangout time in the open world that wasnt just go-back-in-time-through-magic-dog. but i feel you so hard dude i just want more of them chilling. literally i have 300 hours in this game already and i know half of those have been using the car listening to tunes LMFAO

yeah the crossover quests are funnn the one with terra wars is sweet and the ffxiv one is SO funny its literally hysterical i was roaring with laughter a couple times!!! and good on you practising i didnt touch any of the extended combat until my third save and yeah honestly if you want to do the postgame menaces those skillsll come in useful, its funny because the maingame bosses arent that hard but the postgame is mental. but yeah i love blowing shit up with proms bazooka it fucking rules nerds can keep their swords

honestly so much of this game for me is literally just booting it to go hang with the guys its really relaxing lmfaooo... hiking around with these goofy dudes. sometimes i just wanna chill with the anime boys. YEAH literally its sweet and charming and then fucking heartbreaking and even though the writing is hammy as hell im honestly so willing to forgive it. not only for the clear amount of care and love that went into specifically building the guys relationship (which anyone knows is the best and most realised part of the game) but the details and amount of lore you can uncover if you take a step and interpret a little. maybe thats too generous a statement for what was an executive nightmare and critically underdeveloped but i grew up on ffxiii and knowing the versus 13 lore and that ffxv was part of that extended canon im satisfied with it being another side to that story and running with that. i think supplemented with its additional content years after release ffxv isnt a complete experience but enough of one to leave an impact or at least it did majorly for me! ive been obsessed.

“jihyun–jihyun! it’s your aunt, listen–i need you to sit down okay? are you able to talk right now? it’s–this is serious.” haewon spoke, her voice calm but she was anythin but calm. she just got off the phone with her brother in the states for the 5th time and now she knew it was time to tell jihyun. her niece being in the same city deserved to be on the know, even if she’s so busy right now. 

“i know hyunjoon told you about the trip the boys were going on–they left today but… but..” she paused, choking up a little while looking into the room her youngest was in. “there was an accident–they got into a car accident. im calling you now because hyunjoon is stable, the doctors think he could wake up any time but they aren’t sure when…” she takes a breath. “jaewon… jaewon comes in and out of stable, but their dad… he’s the worse off right now…” her voice breaks, hyunjoons brother jaewon and their father were both still in the icu and she wasn’t allowed in to see them yet. “they’re allowing family guests for hyunjoon though.”

“i dont know how your schedule is–and its okay if you can’t make it–but i knew you needed to be told… especially should the worse happen… im so sorry to be telling you over the phone but–” she lets out a shaky breath, taking a moment before finishing. “but i didnt want to risk you not knowing the situation and something–something happening…” she finishes by explaining which hospital and room and that jihyuns name has always been put on the list for visitors. and yes haewon already called their family in the states, and yes the grandparents know.

maybe this will teach jihyun that she should never turn her phone off. that unlike what modern society thinks having your phone on you at all times is more life or death than one would think. the message doesn’t reach her until she’s on her phone in the middle of a break at work. having been so busy full of another day of practices, of hurdling through vocal runs and lessons in order to achieve something before their comeback as a group, as five instead of six. they were all expecting simultaneous shock and dismay when the news hits but none of they were really sure what will come of their next comeback. whether it’ll be a hit or not was up to god.

and jihyun was no saint, praying for something to happen occurred once in a blue moon. she wasn’t sure whether her prayers would be answered this time.

she comes to work, ready for the day and hidden by face masks and hastily-tied hair, minimal makeup because she was there to work not to look her best this time. her phone lays in her bag, where she had left it the night prior, untouched and reserved, dead with messages she didn’t even know she needed to hear.

when she goes for her bottle of water, when the producer finally lets her off the hook to rest her vocal chords – she’s finally realized the status of her phone; watching as the screen does nothing. that’s odd, she hadn’t remembered powering it off nor did she remember charging it the night before. so she does what any millennial would have done, going back into the practice room where her coach kim had been to ask for the use of his charger – and despite the look he gives her, he relents and hands it over long enough that she’s able to get the device working in record time.

the blurry faces of her and the girls appearing in her view first thing as she checks the time and the alerting 0% that’s quickly being rejuvenated. the next moments come too quickly, enough that jihyun, who was so used to worrying about other people is even more worried because her aunt rarely calls her these days.

then she listens and something breaks because no, this was why she worried. this was the accumulation of horrors she had never wanted to happen. this was why she never let her phone die.

her breath catches in her throat, fingers finding the strength in the wall at her side as her aunt’s voice is drowned out from her ears and the hastiness of her heartbreak overtakes her. in a flash, as color pales from her skin, she checks the date and time. 

                                      NOVEMBER 15 , 11:28 PM

what – immediately, she’s back on the phone, calling her aunt, a broken, “what happened?” thrown out, nearly hysterical. the questions once more repeating despite the elder having answered them all in the message. there’s nothing more jihyun wants is to know more, the how – the why, god, why hyunjoon?

the call breaks thirty minutes later after her aunt reassures her for the nth time that she didn’t need to hurry but all jihyun wants to do is run – run towards the fire, run to where she can be assured that life didn’t hang in the balance. jaewon was okay, she told herself; hyunjoon was okay, she tells herself shortly after. but their father was another story and this time, despite her own reservations against the man and her own qualms for his treatment of her beloved cousin, she knew she had no ill bone in her body to wish him death – he was above all hyunjoon and jaewon’s father and for that, even jihyun had a string of prayers set aside for him. 

when her break ends, she tries her best to calm herself but she ends up cracking in the middle as her vocal runs become messier and coach kim turns a concerned eye towards the female. she’s out of excuses and jihyun doesn’t know where to run, all she knows is she can’t be here.

( by the end of the day, she’s exhausted: on the phone with her sister as they board jfk for a one-way ticket to seoul; her mother, father, and brother in tow. it had taken a while for grayson to get off work and given an emergency leave, but it had been done. her father hadn’t even given it a second thought before buying the tickets, her sister and mother all the same, throwing garments into their stashed bags and would have left if it hadn’t been the airline’s wishes that they be grounded until the weather cleared up. 

jihyun leaves work after telling the rest of the luxe girls to go home before her – that she’ll be home later than usual. she tells the girls not to worry when all jihyun wants to do is cry. her usual smile doesn’t reach her eyes but she makes it clear that she’s okay through words that are more reassuring than her actions. because everything was always better said than done, and jihyun is trying to be a better actress: following the motions as she gives them hugs and takes the first taxi she finds near the dongdaemun building because riding a bus in her state was something jihyun didn’t have the energy for. 

she tells the driver the hospital address and in the next instance, all jihyun feels is arms, wrapping around her as the tears finally fall and all the questions finally spill out in the open:

It has been quite okay, didn't do that much! Mostly stayed at home, studied a bit and watched a few movies with my brother! BUT WOWW that sounds so funnn, here the weather is just a bit chilly, it was way worse in fall tbh, so idk if we're gonna get any snow :/ I have never gone skiing so i can't really agree or disagree with you hahah but like why don't you like it??

wow im like 2 mins into the first round and they’re introducing fruit planet and im already convinced tencent did a better job at making this finale ep than youku did for snzm LOL 

oof these questions hit home right away. wow xiao zhi changed a lot to become the leader he is today, someone who wants to see his band grow together. you can tell youzi has done some serious reflecting too, to call himself too unrestrained before. ughhh you can just see how much they love runze and how much he loves them. i love parents. xiao zhi really gave runze the confidence he needed and they all gave qiang ge the encouragement he needed. im surprised the suo na worked as well as it did with the disco song and im so happy to see how happy they were on stage. 

LOL muji is the real one to rein in szb and is harsh on him bc he needs it. the way muji says hes not afraid to get on people’s bad side and be the bad guy kinda reminds me of huang enyu

hope hyt and xiao xiong have really learned through their growing pains (same to ljt and szb) does that mean fruit planet is the only group where the main duo’s main fight wasn’t against each other but tencent? lol i cant imagine xiao zhi fighting any of his kids? wow i still find it amazing that zhao ke can so proudly say that 熱帶低壓 was his happiest times in front of the rest of 氣運. like thats legit love he feels for 熱帶低壓 and they respect that. wowowowow hyt’s “i can be strict towards myself, but i gotta let go for them” is like the ultimate lesson for micromanagers and he’s learned to believe in and respect his teammates and not feel like he needs to control everything. good for him.

maybe im just biased but the pitchy-ness of 氣運’s singing (xiao xiong and ma zhe /cough) just bugs me so much ugh it makes me sad bc the song is nice and id like to add it to my playlist otherwise, but i cant listen to this without frowning at the vocals. to be totally transparent, I didnt like the 午睡 song much at all (sorry ljt TT) and disco is not my style (sorry fruit planet) but at least the fruit planet perf was fun. im just kinda disappointed by these perfs in general :\

tencent putting the order as fruit planet first and 午睡 second and 氣運 last is a sign they already know 氣運 is gonna win... bc fruit planet was first place last week but if they go first that puts them at a disadvantage aka no one will be a match for 氣運 lol

OMG I CANT BELIEVE THEYRE DOING “I WILL MISS YOU” ARE THEY ALLOWED TO DO THIS SONG??? omg omg thats such a attack in the feels tho wtf this is such a throwback ugh i still remember this song from when zyx and ljt performed it on the first mrzz and now ljt’s bringing it back? omg but it has so many memories from the first mrzz kids and wow idk how i feel about this. i mean i know its HIS song so he’s perfectly entitled to perform it but its wild bc this song is so mrzz1 its kinda strange to bring it back for mrzz4. like does it feel like the mrzz1 kids are being replaced? or maybe i should take it like ljt is singing it in their honor and bringing it back to where he began. lol like zzn and mby know the lyrics bc theyve performed this song themselves before :’) okay so the beginning was a tiny bit pitchy but ljt is the best singer compared to everyone else!! the way he sings 揮揮手 with such power is so oof and i still just love his vocal timbre. one thing i like about 午睡 in particular is that none of them are trying to fight ljt to be a vocalist, which is unlike the other two group, and i think its nice that he can just be trusted to handle the vocals and it keeps it cleaner bc hes a capable vocalist on his own. im happy to see muji on bass too bc its cool he can be so versatile. LOL LJT introducing everyone in the middle of the song i love him hes so funnn. i will say, the arrangement of the song felt a little frame-heavy? idk if that phrase is the correct way to describe it, but i felt like there wasn’t enough sound filling the song, but jym is really jamming out in the background (im so happy whenever i see a glimpse of his drumming smile) and ljt is carrying with the vocals in the foreground. maybe its just bc im not used to this arrangement so it sounds strange to me. AW ljt going to zzn and mby to get them to singggg and AWWWWW muji running to yingge, sam, tyler, ruiyang they look soooo happy to hug him aawwwwwwww i love roommateesssss and also i still see them as this crowd of misfits who dont really fit in but can find solace in each other. can you imagine what wouldve happened if 太���餐廳 had stayed in this race? wild, i feel like they couldve made it to the end too. okay i honestly think xiao li is the best singer in 氣運, maybe im biased but even he started a tiny bit pitchy but he adjusted quickly and his voice is just so nice and he puts a lot of care into his vocals even while playing piano! 

unrelated to the music, but honestly i thought i liked xiao li with short hair better but i do like the bangs he has framing his face here. i just prefer the back of it to not be so long LOL 

WOW i said all that about xiao li’s voice before xiao xiong started singing (and i immediately wished xiao li would sing again.. oops sorry to xiao xiong, but he gets off key easily when singing soft and low contrast pitches) and then xiao li SANG THE CHORUS AND WOW his voice is so nice i like it so much!!! i really hope he feels satisfied with this perf, as its their last perf and hes said before that he couldnt face their songs straight-on yet. wow i just have to go back and listen to him sing the chorus again wow the way his voice sounded on "傷心" OOF. 

what is zhao ke looking at when he raps? lol i feel like hes always looking off in a random direction but maybe im just not remembering correctly. but also the vocal effects they put on his mic make it hard to understand what he’s saying? but he also sounds like he has an accent. I dont know much about zhao ke like where he’s from or anything, but im curious if thats just bc of the vocal effects or he actually has an accent. 

UGH im sorry but then xiao xiong starts singing again and hes still off key and im still cringing..... i mean id noticed he was pitchy in previous episodes but this episode seems particularly noticeable?? im not sure if its bc they did any autotuning in the past but idk xiao xiong’s kinda not doing so great today :\ also the transition from zhao ke’s rap to xiao xiong’s singing was weird??? okay xiao xiong is fine once he starts projecting and puts more strength behind his voice, and then his vocal color is pretty nice! but prior to that.... 

lol am i think only one who thought it was weird that they recorded the guitar solo instead of having someone play it live? was it xiao li that played it on the recording? also zhao ke outside of rapping is basically a accompanying bass vocalist at this point lol

honestly looking back, this was a good show. i started it not really thinking id get invested bc i was also simultaneously watching snzm and since snzm is an idol show i knew id naturally get more invested in that. BUT these mrzz kids have really grown on me. theyre good kids and theres lots of talented kids among them. im curious how wjjw will deal with having 3(?) bands to promote now, but who knows, im just hoping to see more of fruit planet, ljt, and xiao li’s music in the future. i went into this show for ljt, and i came out of it with more music on my playlist (which is always great) and a high appreciation for xiao zhi and xiao li. hoping to see more of them in the future!
