31 year old soggy loser touya that can't drive or stay out after curfew and that was released from prison 7 months ago and has to keep his job at ace hardware and has to go to his meetings and is figuring out how to both apologize and forgive and is so far behind socially among his peers because of all he had to endure during his child/teenagehood my beloved

it is probably very obvious I'm a filthy pokemon casual when I say I died like 5 times to Pryce in HG/SS because I didn't know Piloswines typing and didn't want to look it up at first.. it also probably does not help my case that my team consists of croconaw, togetic, ampharos, onix, growlithe, and weepinbell all of which were lvl 30 or under (not to mention 3 of those pokemon require an evolution stone that I can't get until I'm given the national dex, so good job me)

Tldr: light screen was my friend in that battle, and I heal stalled until I finally won, but hey results are results right? Now on to foiling team rocket

i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you

#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what #allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of #the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than #to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do #im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt #take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was #mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their #mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that #explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain #direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in #arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to #engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out #theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive #a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked #picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing #sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example #for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war #is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old #wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for #steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with #especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can #look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never #treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time #but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made #feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them #accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me #yapping #diary

#terranigma #terranigma ark #terranigma elle #terranigma meilin #art tag #im going to write a little review in the tags bear with me #first the negative:#the magic system is weird to use and basically useless apart from one boss thats almost impossible without magic #it has some weird racism like most old games where you travel around the world. a little more egregious since its supposed to be real earth #i found the main character to be slightly insufferable for about 3/4ths of the game. i came around on him by the end tho. he grows up a lot #and i found whats by far the largest section of the game (chapter 3) to be the least interesting #im not really into helping cities develop and trade quests tho so it might just be me #oh also it is STUPID easy to permanently lock yourself out of like 15 sidequests #and theres a lot of mandatory things that are really hard to figure out. you need to use a walkthrough for this #anyway thats what i didnt like #what i DID like tho. i dont want to get into too much detail but #its a genuinely beautiful game for so much of it #there were so many moments that left me speechless #its high-concept and thoughtful and fun to play #you dont really need to do much grinding either #at its worst its obtuse and cliche but at its best its breathtaking #and i really recommend more people check it out #special shoutout to my friend seona who modded my 3DS and downloaded a bunch of roms including this one #so in conclusion. terranigma is an underrated gem. play it if youre a 90s jrpg junkie like me #just have a walkthrough open also lol

#sadly i did not grow up with the papa louie games #i fucking love games where you get to customize shit and or own a pet #but sometimes i just play flash games that were cutesy and or pleasing to look at #i didnt like games where it has membership on it because it was so limiting to me as a child and i was poor #so i was very spotty with club penguin animal jam and moshi monsters but i still played them at some points nonetheless #for the multiplayer ones i would often play them with my cousin we would all sit on the same computer butting each others heads #newgrounds was too inappropriate for us at the time so i didnt grow up with that. just flash games found in a website called y8 and y3 #i miss the facebook games so dearly. happy pets was destroyed to the ground by corporate greed and laziness.#horror shooter and generally gory games disturb me as a child. i would rather look for games with cute and easy going themes #anyway ill be surprised if theres someone out there who has played all of these games.

Merry Little Batman is out on Amazon Prime! i went to the screening over the weekend and it’s such a cute movie 😭 basically 90% Damian which was a pleasant surprise haha

#it’s a surprise mostly bc the trailer showed a fair amount of bruce #rambling #spoilerish rambling lol #I HAD A FUN TIME DAMIAN IS VERY DIFFERENT BUT STILL SO CUTE #personal Damian fan peeve w slight spoilers Bruce has a speech believing Damian would grow up to be batman GUUHHH….#it’s a kids film so i didnt bother stressing about much LOL #there was a quick scene where i pointed and was like I GET THE REFERENCE just bc i played arkham asylum recently LOL #i was so taken with the expressions in this style esp with Damian whether he had the cowl on or not #ALFRED AND DAMIAN RELATIONSHIP IS CUUTE #a silly time if you want something lighthearted!#i need to watch again to check the credits for the artist of this one specific scene that was RAD #basically a scene entirely in the style of woodcut printing!! just SO COOL

i always ponder about to what degree limes family knows about magic and how much hes involved in it....like it is one of those things where he has to constantly make weird excuses for where hes been and where all these injuries are coming from? do they know and help cover for him when they need to?? it remains to be seen

because i think that the capitol guard uniforms are similar enough between the regiments that post-timeskip they know he joined the capitol guard, but dont necessarily know hes in the magic-specialized regiment, so its just one of those "How are things going over there?" "Oh you know. Catching criminals, protecting the general public, the usual." while he fights magic creatures on a daily basis

#i havent decided what route to take yet...#one beta version is that tiramisu is old friends with limes parents so thats why she chose to move there #(limes family owns both shops and rent out the other one to tiramisu)#but on the other hand i dont think anyone would want to involve innocent bystanders into the magic world if they dont have to #lime loves his family a lot and wouldnt want to endanger them #(generally if youre not involved in the magic community already then all parties leave you alone)#(including the coattails / bad guys)#theres not a lot of people who attack non-magic innocent people for funsies #mostly people get involved accidentally because they were caught in the crossfire of a fight like lime #i think his parents would be proud and surprised #(why didnt he go to college and play baseball its what he wanted growing up right?? and he was so good???)#(he had so many scholarship offers??)#he just kind of avoids the topic #going to play baseball for a living seems silly and dumb to him after being involved with the magic community for so long
