FYI...

Everyone is their canon ages. With the acception of Butch and James, whom I'm headcanonning as 20 year olds-Mid 20's. I'm gonna try to keep everything as in universe as possible. Also I am writing a more AFAB!Reader but that doesn't mean you can't read (Y/N) as any other gender(s) ^^

Also if you've come from Quotev, this is a rewrite! I changed some minor details to the whole scenario even for a few of these guys so yeah. Sorry for any possible confusion. ^^

Ash

You were running around in the forest laughing along with your (P/O/C), when you ran into a boy and his pikachu. You groaned, rubbing your behind from the hard impact.

"Hey! Watch where your going!" The boy yelled, fixing his cap.

"I'm sorry! I didn't think anyone would be in this part of the forest." You stood up and stretched your sore muscles. Once making sure (P/O/C) was alright, you turned to the boy and his friends with a smile, "My names (Y/N), (Y/n) (L/N)."

The boy smiled at your kindness, "Hi! I'm Ash Ketchum and this is my buddy Pikachu." He introduced as Pikachu gave a 'pika'. His two friends, a red head and a taller boy, looked as though they were gonna say hi but were cut off by this Ah Ketchum boy; "I'm sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to snap like that." He scratched his cheek.

You shook your head, "No worries. I don't blame you. I'm sorry but I gotta go now." You turned around on your heel, "Bye guys!" You waved with (P/O/C) not too far behind you.

"She seems nice." Misty commented.

"Yeah. It's too bad she had to leave so soon though." Brock adds.

"I wonder if I'll ever get to meet her again." Ash smiles looking off in the direction you ran off in.

Brock

Today you were at a local Pokemon centre waiting for your best buddy, (P/O/C). It wasnt long before they came out with Nurse Joy leading the way. You got up and ran over to the duo with a smile, "You're okay-!"

"Nurse Joy! You're so beautiful I could melt away!" A boy around your age jumped in between you and the nurse.

You snorted at the boys love sick performance. You peeked over his shoulder and made eye contact with (P/O/C). "There you are!" You pushed passed the boy and grave your dear friend a hug.

"Woah." The boy sighed in astonishment. Suddenly instead of (P/O/C) in front of you, you were met with the eyes of the boy from just a moment before. "You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen." He held your hands.

"Oh!" You blushed, "Thank you." You smiled.

"Come on Brock!" A little boy in glasses dragged the boy away from you.

"Let's meet again someday!" 'Brock' called out to you.

James

You stood off to the side as you watched your best friend (BFF/N) and a girl with long violet red hair argue over who should get the wild Eevee that kind of just came out of nowhere.

"Hurry it up Jessie or its gonna get away!" A man with blue hair shouted. He wore an all white outfit, paired with black gloves that match with his boots, a belt, and an undershirt. Not to mention the huge red R on his shirt.

"Come on (BFF/N)! If your not gonna catch it, I'll get it!" You pulled out your pokeballl and out came a (P/O/C).

"No! (Y/n) I'll get it!" Your friend pulled out her own pokeball and out came her Pokemon.

"I don't understand why I don't just ditch you already." You sighed which (P/O/C) nodded along too.

"Sometimes I wonder the same thing with Jessie." The boy beside you sighed. You glanced at the guy who was now standing right beside you. You gulped. He was... actually quite cute.

"Do you, um," You coughed, "...do you want a rice ball?" You held out your lunchbox. The mystery man happily grabbed the offered food.

"Where I come from, they call these jelly filled donuts." He took a bite, "Pretty funny if you ask me." You guys shared a laugh. He caught your eyes, "Thank you. It was delicious."

Quickly, you felt your heart pounding and your face heating up, "No...no problem!" You smiled.

Butch

Walking to the nearest restaurant you can find, you kept conversation with your little (P/O/C); "The ice cream in this place is supposed to be really good. They even have specially made ice cream for Pokemon! Isn't that cool?" You smiled down at your little buddy.

They nodded and made a little noise, which you can only assume meant some form of agreement.

Right as you entered the place, you were behind two people in dark coats. It was... a little intimidating if we're being honest.

"U-um," You stuttered out, the two turned to you, "if you're done ordering... I'd like a turn please." You shyly pointed at the counter.

The girl huffed, "alright. We were done anyways," she turned around, "Biff, bring our order when it's ready." She stalked off to a back table.

"It's Butch!" He called out aggravated.

He stepped aside to let you order.

The employee, who seemed a little suspicious, came back with all three orders; one for the duo, one for you, and one for your pokemon. The green haired man grabbed his order and was about to walk away when he noticed how you quickly retreated your hands from your sundaes. He rolled his eyes and sighed, "Here," he gently pushed you aside, "I got it." He grabbed tray to carry all your orders on.

"Thank you." You nodded.

"Hm," He hummed, staring down at you with his dark shades, "where are you sitting?"

Ritchie

"(P/O/C), can you set up the blanket over there please? Thank you." You smiled.

"And (P/O/C), can you carry this basket please. I'm afraid it's too heavy for me." You blushed sheepishly as another one of your pokemon carried the basket to where the other was.

"I'm sorry for having you guys do all this work for me. I'll give you guys some extra yummy food to make up for it, okay?" You got up from the river having just filtered your water to keep fresh and healthy for the remainder of your trip to the nearest town possible.

"Wow! This all looks great!" Someone shouted. You looked across the river and saw a boy about your age with a Pikachu on his shoulder. aww how cute! The pikachu had a little tuff of furr on his head!

"Sorry I didn't mean to disturb you. Its just that I saw some Pokemon and wanted to catch them but it looks like they are yours." He scratched his head.

"Oh no worries you didn't disturb me at all! Would you like to have lunch with us?" You gestured to all the food.

"If you don't mind." He smiled. The boy began to look around, "their must be a way over somehow." He spoke out loud. You stood up and quickly ran to a bush.

"Here!" You called out, "a bunch of kids from a small nearby village have things like these everywhere," the kid watched you pull out a long and sturdy plank of wood, "it's pretty convenient." You placed the plank over the river.

"Well I'd say!" He laughed. Him and his pikachu made it over the little makeshift bridge safely and quickly. "My names Ritchie." He held out his hand.

"(Y/N)." You shook his hand.

Gary

You sat in a burger restaurant eating your order with your little buddy, (P/O/C), sat across from you eating their pokepuff. A bell chimed signalling someone came into the restaurant. You curiously looked up and saw a boy around your age with a lot of teenage girls following behind him to the counter.

"Hey dude, check it out. Rich kid in a place like this? Seems weird don't you think?" You whispered to (P/O/C) as he cutely looked over the seat.

"Alright girls. Let's eat at this big table over here." The boy and his cheerleaders all walked over to a big table. Which was beside yours.

"Hey," You whispered to (P/O/C). He looked up at your from his pokepuff, icing bits on his furr.

"Let's get going." You whispered once more. You were about to get up when the boy from the other table stepped in front of you cautiously-trying not to be rude but eh, it's Gary.

"Excuse me miss. But I was wondering if I could get your name. I've seen you somewhere before but I just can't get my finger on who you are." He looked at you in thought.

You looked back down at your little companion, exchanging a similar thought on if you should tell him who you are. 'Mom always said don't talk to strangers.'

"(Y/N) Ketchum." So much for stranger danger. "I gotta go now, sorry. Bye." You walked passed the boy.

"She's a Ketchum!?" The boy exclaimed which startled his cheer squad.

Barry

"Alright so if this equals that then that mean this should be...ah!" You friend screamed as theywas trying to figure out a math problem. They want to be a pokemon scientist one day and math is often involved in science so they have to learn both subjects and be excellent at them.

"Um, (BFF/N), is there anything I can do to-eh!" You got cut off.

"You can help by shutting up! The math I was just trying to figure out! Ugh! It's left my brain forever!" She face cried.

"Ehh! I'm sorry!" You then got up to go grab yourselves some ice cream across the street to calm you both down.

"Ah!" You yelped as you were tackled to the ground.

"Ah! I'm late! I'm late! Hey stay out of my way-whoa..." You looked up and saw a blonde boy with orange eyes staring at you in awe. You could have sworn you seen him somewhere before.

"I'm sorry. I guess I should watch were I'm going." You groaned as you got up. The boy gulped and stood up quickly, a noticing pink hue dusting his face.

"Huh. Oh no! It's ok! I'm Barry by the way." Barry held out his hand. You grabbed it and stood up.

"Barry? Oh I've seen you on TV." You smile excitedly. You had to admit, watching the pokemon league on TV was quite fun. Especially whenever Barry was battling. He was just so cute! Of course you had a crush on him!

"Woah! Really?" His eyes lit up.

"Yeah! You lost 2 rounds in!" You mindlessly say.

"ugh." Barry falls to the ground.

"Barry?"

【As you've probably noticed, I try to keep a lot up to the readers decision. Like gender of your best friend, your pokemon, hometown ect. But in Paul's, I am writing that (Y/N) does indeed have a Togepi. Happy reading!】

Paul

You watched a boy your age with purple hair battle against your friend Ash with ease.

"Is that all? I should have expected at least a little bit of a challenge. Shame on me for thinking the weakest trainer can put up a fight with pokemon like that." He insulted.

"C'mon Ash! We're wasting our time! Let's just go." You heard your friend Dawn say. Ash looked like he was gonna get into a nasty fight with this 'Paul' guy. You took this as your cue to get going on your own solo adventure-seeing as you didn't travel with them or anyone else.

Your eyes casted to the boy who seemed to have too little patience in the world. "What are you looking at?" The purple haired boy glared at you-if it could somehow get even more harsh. It seemed he had a constant glare on his face.

"Hm. Oh! Um... nothing!" You stuttered out with a heavy blush, "Hey...Hey lets go Togepi." You turned around as your Togepi followed with his cute little 'Togepiiii'.

"What is that thing? It looks so... useless." Paul pulled out his Pokedex.

His comment caused you to turn around. He was too busy engrossed in his pokedex and trying to drown out Ash, Dawn, and Brock's voices. You hesitated but walked back to the boy so you were face to face.

"It's.. a Togepi." You said almost a little too quietly. Paul had just barely heard you. "and it's cute. And kind of scary." You looked down at the little guy running in circles chasing some butterfly pokemon.

"Sure it is." Paul rolled his eyes. "Do you have any other pokemon?" He crossed his arms.

"No." You shook your head.

"That's probably why." He pointed at Togepi before walking away without another word.

Trip

You walked around a city looking at all the cool colours, buildings, Pokemon shops, restaurants and all that other stuff. Your eyes sparkled up at everything you saw.

"Wow! Hey look at this (P/O/C)! Everything's so bright and beautiful and shiny!" You ran around some more, your pokemon right behind you, looking at everything in awe just like you.

Click!

You turned at the sound and saw a boy your age with a camera, facing a cute little cafe. You made eye contact and smiled, "What are you doing?"

The dirty blonde haired boy glanced at you, "Documenting my journey." He puts his camera away, "what are you doing?" He returned the question. He had probably expected you to take some hint and to leave him alone to his business but unfortunately for him, (Y/N) doesnt really work like that.

"I'm here for my next contest." Suddenly you had a bright idea, "if you don't mind, will you come watch?"

He blinked, "What? Why?" He looked almost offended by it. Like why would some random person just come along and ask him to take time away from his day to do that?

"So I can show my mom back home! We don't really have a tv to watch these things. Please! Just one picture! That's all I ask!" You beg.

"What's in it for me? I'm not just gonna do this for free you know-"

"I'll pay for your dinner tomorrow!"

He placed a hand on his hip, now smirking, "and with what money?"

"When I win the contest tomorrow, duh." You smiled.

The boy rolled his eyes, "Fine. Come find me at the pokemon center tomorrow. Then you can get your picture."

do people on this website post tierlists for fun idk does anyone care about my opinions on pokemon and miku probably not but I'm finally giving into the urge to be really annoying about music (not a music analyst) (doesn't know how to identify a lemotif) (Was in High School Marching Band)

Anyway gonna be real fuckin annoying about this one its called i talk about rankings that are mostly personal bias

Let's just go in release order lol

DECO*27's Volt Tackle

ok so i have a confession. when this song came out, I knew it was going to end up pretty low on the list lol

Deconina (i can't. type that every time guys) is one of my favorite producers and almost every song he makes I nod my head at and go "yeah. that's a banger." But. BUT. He's started mixing his harder rock styles with his poppier hip hop styles and it comes to a head in this song. The bridge is really really distracting lol, feels like a different song and tone entirely from the kind of intense, battle like ferocity of the main part to a cutesy pop chant... It has a purpose, I'm sure, but there's something too dissonant about it for me to like.

The like, rest of the song is Deconina at his Deconina-est, I love the cute take on love (as he always does) with a pokemon flavoring... The visuals are also quite cute and fitting. It's really solid, but that one point holds it back from Funky Fresh, which is my baseline Very Solid.

Electrical Forecast by inabakumori

The second song, by a producer I don't follow nearly as closely as Deco. Uhh I did listen to lagtrain as homework before this and yes it bangs. It's always nice to see people using people other than Miku and Kaai Yuki actually has a real solid appeal to me.

This is a song that slaps. It bangs, even. I don't know enough about inabakumori to comment on its relevance to their personal stylings or themes but we were still in the romance period with pokemon puns and tie ins so I was already tempted to put it higher in the list. In actuality, every song does an excellent jobs integrating game sounds and puns so no extra points are available for that stuff lol

Taking the idea of catching pokemon is always dangerous, I think, because pokemon fans aren't really here to catch things, we're mostly interested in battles and the journey with our faves, not completing the pokedex (because it's hard, and kind of chore) at least, to me. This song feels like a journey through the tall grass, scouring the lands to find pokemon... I just like the inabakumori style man. It gets points for getting on the playlist, but not really speaking to me.

Mitchie M's What Kind of Future

Silly songs.......... my weakness and Mitchie M's strength oh no.........

Yeah Mitchie M really plays to his strengths, using cute visuals and nonstop puns to ooze a charm you can only get from haplessly indulging in the most whimsical of vibes. It was also quite surprising how well their TL team did with all the puns given some of them barely work lol.

"I love them all" is the type of pokemon fan I am, so that might also help explain why two of those songs are up so high...

Pinocchio-P Kills You with The Pokemon Inside My Heart

Im a pinocchio-p fan. I don't always like everything he puts out, but when he really hits its insane how hard he does.

1) i fucking love his little pinomikus... having them all in a costume is so fucking cute they're little slit eyed freaks and by far my favorite trademark a producer's ever had lol My favorite. is lapras...

2) This isn't the first song to fuck me up by him lol 2:30 Life Remaining also damaging as hell, so it wasn't surprising to see him go for a quieter angle but man when its something you grew up with, a nostalgia you could relate to, an experience you lived, its way worse. It's such a soft song, with an upbeat backbone, I've no idea how he got the music to scream "nostalgia" so hard but the reverberating "aah"s are so cool too...

Anyway this song would be the best song if I weren't horrendously biased. It should honestly be up their with the top two but it was funnier to keep it in the crying tier.

Battle! by cosMo@Bousou-P

I honestly did not like this song all that much when it first came out, but that was almost certainly because it was right after Pinochhio-P's lol

The high concept of people in the comments talking about some sort of Miku AI champion that was tired of winning got me more into the song now that I'm not directly comparing it to a song that spoke way more to me, there's just something a little unhinged about it in the way that cosMoBousou does well with machine intelligence/the meaning of digital media.

He also plays p well into his strengths with the breakcore fast bpm lol this song screams GO GO GO! I think it makes total sense why he'd go for a battle theme, and I really like the way the pokemon sfx are incorporated into the backing... drums? Unfortunately, I like battle songs not that much, and the lyrics leave a little to be desired because the story's a bit... confusing lol Maybe it's cheap of me to prefer nostalgia baits over whatever strange original story cosMo's thought up but that's how it is.

A little evil with Kasamura Tota's I'll Fly in the Sky with You

Another producer I've not heard of before! No one talked about this song either, in my circles, I actually missed it until I came back for Giga and Jin's. I passed over it on first watch, put it on in the background and said "yeah, that's a nice soft song," thinking nothing of it. Boy was I fucking WRONG

edit (not an edit I'm writing this all in one sitting), I LIED I *have* heard this guys stuff before!! Araki covered one of his songs lol ok I'm getting the sense their skillset is Violently Sad Songs and goddamn are they good at em.

Anyway this song's MV is adorable and uses mudkips status as an adorable fave as a double shot directly to your sadglands as it tells a story of a pokemon that stays the same to continue to fly with its friend. Its fucked up, and a little evil, and totally took me by surprise because I was a fool. Little Guys Deserve Love Too is something you don't always remember as pokemon fan and it takes the implication of evolution seriously its really some pokemon Mystery Dungeon type heartstring pulling that got me good.

Musically I love the quiet backing that really lets the vocals (the story) breathe, its a musical narrative. The back and forth between Luka and Miku is done really well, plus having it based entirely around an existing pokemon song really helps it achieve its heart punching effectiveness.

Also I have a horrible bias toward piano please don't look up at the tierlist and where I placed Marasy

(Hilarious it got a kids rating on youtube btw. Another youtube kids L, probably)

We couldn't draw miku at a fucked up angle this time guys: Giga's Gotchu!

lol yeah they had to sanitize this one's visuals a little bit, probably worked with a different artist than usual... It does show, a bit, in the kind of bouncy visual style Giga's used to being flatter and less 3D than usual. This leaves the music video a little lesser than the others that move... I also don't know if I've ever been a huge fan of Giga's recent animation style.

In terms of actual song: it's good! Giga puts his swing on classic pokemon motifs and it feels very him, with a nice mix of hip hop beat and electrical edge.

But uh, remember how I said before "catching pokemon is the weakest element of pokemon"? That point stands here, especially since the song itself is just simple and peppy. It's stylish as hell but doesn't give me a sense of journey or scouring like inabakumori's.

Sorry, but someone had to be last.

Jin's Secretly Miku the whole time: Juvenile

I'd like to say this is the first full on deadass whole animated story. I should be right. Also I don't think I've followed Jin since Kagepro lol (but I did hear Neo, and I did scream really loudly at it!)

dude the eevee is drawn so fucking cute im rhhdghh im not even a huge eevee fan (too mammal) but man when he do the lil paw to cheer up their trainer it got me. I also really like the compassion of the story, the trainers just want to support each other even though they fight... It's like, that's kind of what pokemon is, it's not necessarily about winning, even if Every Voice on the internet Ever (including myself) tells you otherwise. Turns out all you need from a friendly rival to make them better is to lose against them and not let them speak (im joking.......)

I just realized I never looked up the lyrics, actually, but I totally got the emotions through the fantastic MV and the general upswings of the music. It's a bold swing to take a trainer through their whole journey, but both songs that try this hit it justtt right, actually. Building yourself back up after a loss is like, The pokemon story, because turns out you can't win them all. Plus it takes time to focus on the mundanity of the pokemon journey, the stuff you don't really think about in game but is the meat of any fanfic... depicting hanging out w your pokemon is a huge bonus points.

The music combined with the visuals made me cry what can I say, I don't cry easily so it deserves it.

Syudou's I'm a Ghost Type

I honestly don't know a whole lot about Syudou, not to say I don't know who he is, i do, i play pjsekai, but none of his "popular" songs really captured me.

I can mostly say the same for this one lol This is the first one where I have to actually explain the Funky Fresh tier: it means they play well to their strengths but they don't have a whole lot of staying power to me. This is where my pickiness starts kicking in, they just weren't swanky enough to make the cut.

The lyrics and visuals scream joy of ghost types though, I really dig how much energy is in the song... I think it's just personal preference for electric beats that puts the song the highest in Funky Fresh.

BIPPA!! Wonderful Opportunity with Go! Bidoof Group!

Wonder Opp never fails me they got my back every time. I was hoping for something silly happy peppy fun and oh boy did i get it. A feverish dedication to a silly not strong pokemon, a basic rat you can get in any route that the pokemon company loves making fun of, BIPPA!!

All these dumb mfs so relatable to the Len that wants to evolve for utility, to the Rin that loves him as he is, to Miku who thinks all pokemon have their appeals... I've seen some people say WonderOpp's songs border on just speaking over beat, but I don't really see what's wrong with that. The comedic timing is solid (Len getting shot down is so funny) and the setup is inherently funny, a team of bullies that go after Only Bidoof. Team Rocket but Bidoof.

Joy radiates from this song and who doesn't want to hold a pokemon in front of your friends and go "Look!! this is my favorite child!!!" I think that's the real essence of pokemon. Pick your faves and then be really annoying about them. That's why this is the best one.

Huh? Muddled... (Weird title... it's sfx, really) by Kuriyama Yuri

This project got me digging around in new producers libraries, quite fun. In this one I found Jitterbug! I love a good Meiko producer... But I don't particularly like their style, sorry to say.

I do like it though! It's fun, spooky and very stylized! I love the rhythm it gets into and the expressions on the people, even if I'm not entirely sure what's going on besides some good ol fasioned spooks. I think it accomplishes what it sets out to do, which is make a spooky ghost house experience song. Just doesn't appeal to me enough to rank it higher.

Orangestar's Encounter

Look. This is pure bias. But I also think it's good!

I've gone on record (no record. just talking to friends lmao) saying Orangestar's music feels like running alongside a ocean during a sunshower. All their music is kind of same-y but by god does it hit that niche so good for me, using vocaloids to go way above what any human would sound good. In this song the synthwave really elevates it to something I'd recommend a non-Orangestar fan, it really carries you up, gives the song a rising energy... just like Lugia.

Breath is a key of Orangestar's songs, besides being very high, there's a lot of running vocals and held notes, meaning singing them is again, very difficult (if you're trying to copy miku) and I think the breathlessness of the vocals and synth really works with the concept of a legendary encounter. It's always so cool when you finally run into the thing on the box... and in the surrounding media, everyone always oohs and aahs. The lyrics support this, but I'm not very good at reading, so I actually just skim them to make sure they aren't total nonsense lol

Eon Ticket by Marasy

I saw somewhere an author's comment about this song, something to the effect of "I always chased Latios and Latias"... So this is just a song about your faves, just like pokemon should be. It also has Kaito, which is *my* crypton bias.

Uhh I'm always back and forth on Marasy songs, I love him as a pianist, but his compositions don't always speak to me working with the others on em. But? I think this one hits nicely. It's a little toothless still, not as emotionally impactful as those on the top, won't make me scream in excitement but I do think this is one of my favorites in a while.

Kaito and Miku... it's always nice to have duets in this Miku focused project lol. I think the Eon ticket, Latios and Latias in particular was a good pairing for Marasy's flighty fluttering piano trills and runs, they're the kind of pokemon that dash around the skies like the music does. Part of what makes me rank composers higher in these miku songs is whether they play to their strengths or not, because you're already adding the twist of subject matter, and I think this does. I also think the framing device of the newscasters is cute

Party Rock Eternity by Hachioji-P

Ahh Hachioji, another name I know and don't really listen to on purpose... Rad Dogs goes insane though an all time fave (but I say that about half the VBS commissioned songs). Maybe that's why I biased it higher, because it's a style of music I really like. A lot of bias is probably involved in this lol (poison type fan)

I like the perspective of a rocket grunt a lot, leans extremely well into the harder rock of Hachioji's natural lean, but the lyrics don't really tell us much, it doesn't quite lean hard enough into character for me to give it a funky pass... plus I find it's missing a POP that makes it appealing. It's extremely pleasant, but I can't give it a pass.

Iyowa's Journey's Prequels, Journey's Traces

Hmm, I think the only producer I know truly nothing about, didn't even really recognize a song on their page. Doesn't matter since this song's extremely cute and appealing on its own.

The button mashing making up the backing track I almost didn't like but it totally grew on me, it gives the song more life. Visually the MV compliments the cutesy subject and the wonder of a child's first pokemon. But... it's just pleasant. It suffers the same fate as Party Rock Eternity before it, there's just nothing pushing it beyond musically, likely in part because I'm not as familiar with the composer. I like songs that go somewhere, and this one stays in the same place, which doesn't make it bad, it just makes it less interesting to me.

Esper Esper, Psychic Psychic! by NayutalieN

I don't listen to a whole lot of NayutalieN's stuff outside the Rhythm Game Staples (most of which I like, at least passively), but it's enough that I know generally what I'm getting.

Musically this song doesn't stand out to me all that much, I like the rising tones during the chorus, but it actually doesn't use as many of the kind of flourishes on the top of vocals I really like about Nayutalie's tuning. The sfx in blend with the background are also really fun but for me, theming tops out anything.

When I went into the song, I wanted a cute silly fun song about psychic type pokemon that LOVED psychic types. I wanted to see them clap. And they did! There's just so many psychic types doing the classic flip back and forth dance, and isn't that, really, what makes a NayutalieN song?

Kairiki Bear's Melomeloid

So Kairiki Bear I actually spent like, a day lying in bed listening to their entire lineup on their channel lol I wanted to determine whether I liked them as a producer or if I just really liked Bug. Turned out I just really liked Bug (and venom). That's to say, I wasn't expecting something standout in this song.

I was not disappointed, but I wasn't blown away either. That's ok, I think the most important part of Kairiki Bear songs are their texture, the rhythm of the vocals mixed with the instrument. I like Bug because of its punchiness, its extremely harsh tones, and Melomeloid's are a bit softer. It's good for a song about fairy types, but it doesn't make up that loss in musicality through the melody, which makes it average to me. But! I think it really hits where fairy types lie, a cutesy "I love you" mixed with the signature sharp, kind of off tune vocals with a harsh, present beat... It screams "cute but dangerous."

A Glorious Day for Miku Yuri by EVE (it's Glorious Day)

wh what if u were a dragon type trainer and and I was a fairy type trainer and uh uh hhhhh and we were rivals............

Um ok, I just have to say, before I talk about Eve or whatever. The fact that they animate Every Miku in Voltage's art run and place them in this mikuverse where they all fight together is like, dude talk about an excellent finale. Deadass that touch alone put this to its ranking by itself.

That's not to say the music's not pulling its weight. It's Eve, and though I think is one of his weaker compositions, not being able to play into his more off beat rhythms (and having to use miku) it's still got all the bones of an extremely solid hype journey song. But to be honest, I think the music is the weakest part of Glorious Day, even if its flow is perfect for the story they're telling.

But the story..... God I do love a fully animated MV, there's just so much they put in it to make a pokemon fan happy, from the sakuga of the battle and the possible red cameo. Plus YURI!!! I love miku miku relationships I just think this one has the most potential to live in my brain rent free, so it goes up a tier. As a pokemon fan, this one's got the most for me, even if as a vocaloid fan, I wish Eve would just sing all his songs forever lol

they are my first ever pokemon, they just wandered into kanto and i caught them after choosing my starter! my best friend!! they are really close to me and protect me like their life depends on it lolol

such a sweetheart.. very clingy too! and they are kind of tired all the time hehe!! they have a good sense of humour and feel like the one out of all my pokemon who really gets me

not to say the rest don’t,, flygon has just known me for way longer!! i even use my z-ring on them.. and besides they’re my main pokemon for a reason

he’s a sweetheart! so nice to everyone else and he LOVES attention, he begs for it all the time (he reminds me of my old ragdoll cat hehe)

he is the pokemon i tried to get the most (and got the easiest) when traveling over to paldea, cause i love cats! and grass types are like my 3rd fave type (bug and dragon 🔛🔝 though ofc ofc)

he’s really strong for a meowscarada idk why.. i did train him a lot though lol!! he loves to fight, very active kitty

ESPEON ᡣ𐭩 •｡ꪆৎ ˚⋅

she’s a bit more independent than my other pokemon, and only really is affectionate towards me.. but when she wants attention she’s really clingy!! she just sits on my lap while i do work or something

overall she isn’t that hard to manage compared to my other pokemon (especially my pidgey i caught back in kanto.. he’s so hard to deal with ಥ‿ಥ)

she’s also a shiny?? forgot to mention earlier but it’s pretty cool imo.. :0

RAICHU ᡣ𐭩 •｡ꪆৎ ˚⋅

now it’s time for her!! little buddy,, i love her so much, she’s so sweet!!

for some reason she always wants me to make her waffles, maybe she just has an addiction to them cause of how often i eat them hehe…. (and maybe i slip her a bit too many waffles a bit too often..)

she was actually the starter i picked in kanto, then she evolved into a raichu.. we traveled to alola….. you get the rest

Oh yeah I guess I should do that

In an out of universe sense, Robin is my particular brand of Juliana. I designed her to fit the experience I had with Scarlet... which basically involved me poking my nose into every. single. corner. of Paldea. She's a hiker, backpacker, and budding photographer, because all those things are what I spent the entirety of my playthrough doing. I think I got like forty hours in before I finally was convinced to stop fucking around and go for the non-Path of Legends badges. A lot of the DLC I did as wing-sister to @the-starkindler, who was playing Violet, and we developed a lengthy headcanon winding the two versions together using our respective characters -- you know, like an Emerald version. This bit is key because it means there are two bike-dragons running around Paldea and the Academy, instead of being represented by one fruit, is more of a basket of them. (Insert jokes here.)

I'm going to put a cut here, because I have a lot to say about my silly girl. Beware all who enter here, for there are OC headcanons afoot.

In-universe, Robin is an established student at the Naruva academy, in her second year, arriving sometime after the Team Star dust-up. She is Kalosian, from somewhere in the vague area of Anistar City (if you don't remember your Kalos locations, that's the place with the big red sundial). She's an introvert who grew up in a family of extroverts, and, as you can imagine, that need for a moment of peace fueled her early interest in backpacking. This got markedly worse when the little sisters started arriving. She has five younger sisters, all between the ages of eight and four at the time of her second year. For context, she's going on sixteen at that point.

(I love my little sister dearly, but she alone was almost enough to send me howling into the wilderness. Five of those? Yeah, Robin's a backpacking pro for a reason.)

At ten (because that's such a sane age to do this), Robin's mom nudged her out the door to do the traditional Kalos Gym circuit. Robin came home from that with a level 100 Espurr, several memory cards' worth of pictures of Kalos, and like, two badges. Her mom wasn't overly surprised.

This is kinda how Robin is. She doesn't want to be a powerful Trainer for the sake of being powerful. She makes herself strong so that she can easily do whatever it is she actually wants to do, which is See All The Things. She's not real worried about whether those Things are supposed to be Off-Limits or not, either. So, as you can imagine, she's fascinated by the stories of the mysterious and/or off-limits places of the world. Cerulean Cave. Mount Silver. Mirage Island. The Great Crater of Paldea.

So when her mom suggests Naruva Academy for her, well, she leaps at the chance. Mom figures hey, her kid may be a little odd, but she clearly has a way with Pokemon, and she's sharp, so send the kid to a good school and see what develops. Robin, on the other hand, is plotting her first Great Crater expedition within seconds of the conversation.

Does this mean she's in and out of the Great Crater a lot? Well, not really, though it's not for lack of trying. The Great Crater really is hard to get into without a flying Pokemon at the very least, and the strength of the wild Pokemon there is considerable. She never gets very far in before having to turn back for simple survival. Nevertheless, she's determined to see the bottom of it someday. (Also she does have to attend classes, which cuts into her exploring time severely. Gotta keep dem grades up or mom might pull her home! The grades net her a Tera Orb though, so hell yeah.)

One question that could be asked is, did she know the Paldea Pals before, since she's an established student? Well, yes and no. She knows of Arven, because the poor guy is utterly overshadowed at this point by his shitlord parents. She knows of Nemona -- there probably isn't anyone in the school who doesn't, to be utterly fair. She doesn't really have any opinion on either. They run in different circles, and the most she's interacted with either is whenever Nemona pounced on her looking for a battle. (Yes, she accepted. No, she never won!)

So how does she get pulled into the Scarlet story? Well, one weekend, while she was out chilling with her Pokemon in the wilds of Paldea, there was a really loud sonicboom overhead, and a few minutes later, a tired-looking red lizard Pokemon walked into her campsite. Like most people, she assumed he was a rare breed of Cyclizar at first, because who expects an ancient legendary Pokemon to just waltz into your life and ask for a sandwich? He's injured, but not badly, and she has the brilliant idea to take him back to the Academy with her and see if the teachers can help. She cuts her picnic short and does just that. No problem, right? Nothing life changing about that.

As you have no doubt guessed, the sonicboom was Miraidon fleeing the crater after being attacked by his nasty counterpart. Koraidon, in this melded universe, was brought over as well before <redacted>, and he and the Miraidon actually bonded and are buddies. When Mirai ran for his life, Kori tried to follow, but he's not as fast and had to land. (Miraidon has that jet butt, after all.)

From here, she gets enmeshed in the Scarlet and Violet storylines -- or, well, some of them anyway. The storylines are divided between her and Mirai's rider Alanna. They sort of swap between player one and player two frequently. Robin was involved the most with the DLC stories and Starfall Street. She was the one Ogerpon chose as a partner (maybe it was all that little sister experience!), and she ended up with Chien-Pao out of the four Treasures. (This is not quite as cool as it sounds. Pao just wants to PLAY. All the fuckin time.)

Let's see, what else. Oh, she has a massive crush on Perrin (unrequited), and though she starts out wanting to shove Carmine into the river, they bond over time and Robin kiiiinda thinks she's cute. (Does this count as Carmine x Juliana shipping? Probably not lmao)

I'm probably one of the few who finds the bits we got from Aegon as a character—while "inconsistent", disorganized and tonally a whirlwind—compelling, fascinating and worth inspecting and exploring (and maybe romanticizing and sexualizing :P). And this includes the textual sexual violence, and the heavily implied child sexual assault (whether pedophilic in nature or not aside for now). And though I understand people creating a fanon version expunging these sociopsychologically horrific, and fictionally hard to stomach aspects of his character, I can't say I even want to! I find him compelling because of these aspects, wanting the presentation of it may be for now.

His narrative, arc, symbolism and themes, and not to mention TGC's performance so far, are all just too compelling for me to pass on! Obviously biased, but frankly it's difficult to believe someone would read f&b and not realize the potential of his character and the entailing entertainment... On this note, I do have to say I find the complaints of certain fandom parts (they happen to be Aegon stans, and both team green and team black) about the choice to centre Alicent (both in the narrative and in Aegon's life) pretty disagreeable. It's wack, trite, and bitter. There are clear timeline oopsies and confusions due to the changes, and behind the complaints are genuine arguments to be made for an Update House of The Dragon that could have been, but the game ain't always fair... Just accept you are stanning a minor character, cast villain, stuffed like a pigeon with turkey filling, and eat your 10 minutes of beady eyed screentime. And just make everything about him? When someone takes a sip of wine, it's secretly about Aegon btw. All windows are about Aegon, when they are not about Alicent. Every dragonbond is secretly about Aegon/Sunfyre if you squint hard enough, George told me himself.

I think the major reasons why he comes off as deeply unlikable to the casual viewers (not even addressing the green/black tribalism for now) are due to unflattering framing and POVs that position him as either a gross nuisance, obstacle or clear antagonizing force. Some of this is due to needing certain characters covering certain aspects of a certain themes. How do the royals treat their servants? Good—bad is a big spectrum. Sexual violence is on it, and it happens to fall into Aegon's realm. And while considering the many other unflattering characteristics, u could argue this is overkill or unfair to Aegon, I gotta counter that's a deficient way of looking at fictional narratives. This character-lasered reading misses the forest for the trees. Not every character has to be likeable, relatable, or sympathetic from the get-go. And honestly, I think the many atrocities Aegon is collecting like Pokemon balls to be amusing and kinda compelling.

In another narrative, a character like Aegon's would b a byronic obsession in someone's romantic/gothic story, or a horror villain, or a god harassing poor mortal souls. There are very fun bits and pieces stuck in this guy and even in this age of many studios bucketing under fanbacklash, a guy can just hope the writers find him worthwhile enough a character. And rant into ur lovely inbox ofc.

And at the end of the day, people are just not gonna like a guy LOL. No amount of screentime or birthing scenes or dragonriding can make me find Rhaenyra compelling, and no lack thereof can make me find Alicent, Helaena, or Baela less compelling, speaking of female hotd characters only.

Okay almost.

Being they plan to introduce golden boy turned war criminal Daeron, I believe a both fun and horrific decision would be to make him compassionate towards Aegon's plights and woes and thus give the audience an entry into sympathizing with Aegon, which the writers clearly want us to do, all interviews and panels considered, cope and seethe as I have!

Are we even going to get a Daeron/Greenfam interaction? LOL What a deeply unserious show.

I would like to start off by thanking you for leaving such an interesting ask in my inbox! I think this conversation is a little overdue, since there’s been perhaps an emergence of the school of thought (lol) that suggests that greens upset or critiquing Aegon’s extra dark portrayal in the show are somehow whitewashing him or woobifying him. IMO that fundamentally showcases a divergence in people’s priorities in storytelling and how they interact with this fictional universe. I, myself, am very intrigued by dark!Aegon in fics and most of the works I enjoy tend to deal with taboo topics, so it’s a little unfair to paint everyone with the same dismissive brush.

However, I’m not just a HotD show watcher, I have been engaging with ASOIAF one way or another for over a decade now and I think I can mount a workable interpretation of how this series operates. One of the reasons I actually love it so much is because it has internal thematic logic and because, generally speaking, the characters that inhabit it are appropriately rewarded or sanctioned by the narrative (or at least it seems to be heading in this direction re: its endgame). Believe it or not, I was thinking of answering this ask by ranting about Ned Stark, but I decided not to, because we’d be here all day. 😅

Anyway, point is that I’m not very willing to sacrifice that aspect for the sake of character exploration that contradicts with the main themes and messages of the story. People are certainly free to disagree with me on this, of course.

I imagine it is a tricky business for authors, trying to decide exactly which and how much of a flavour of awful to assign to a character without ruining the rest of the story. Some might start with an outline or a feel for where they want the story to go, but, if you happen to create a character that veers off your intended path or seems to write itself in a direction you never planned for, it would be honest for you as a writer to acknowledge that and accommodate that accordingly in your story. Which isn’t truly a possibility here, as we need the characters to hit certain beats in the narrative and, ideally, they should do it in a believable way. This is often a problem I have found with Fire and Blood and lord knows I’ve already dissected it enough times here, if anyone cares to take a gander - the fact that characters are sometimes prevented to grow organically, because George needs them to perform certain actions in order to move the plot along. So, ideally, a good story would find a balance between these two scenarios.

So to me my main anti-argument is that the Dance was never a story just about Aegon, this is not the exploration of a fucked-up psycho rapist and why he does the things he does and how he thinks the things he thinks. While that certainly might be an interesting avenue, I am not super convinced the Dance of the Dragons could offer the appropriate space in which that kind of exploration could be pursued in a satisfying manner. This is an ensemble piece, and while Aegon is an important part of it, he also exists in relation to other characters. This exaggerated degradation of his would inevitably bring down his entire “side” with him and that, in turn, ultimately throws off the balance of the entire story.

Let’s stop for a minute and take a look at what they decided to go with in the show. Rhaenyra has consistently received the framing that her “mistakes” amount to (at most) victimless crimes (she is absolved from murdering Vaemond and the show makes no effort to explain the havoc caused by screwing up inheritance laws). Whereas what do we have for Aegon? 1. raping and terrorizing servants to the point of panic attacks; 2. enjoyer of the child-fighting sport; 3. implied sexual assault of children. This is beyond caricature. The addition that he enjoys watching his own children fight and that they file down their teeth to make them more formidable, stuff that wasn’t even in the books, is just downright infuriating.

These are not traits you endow a character with because you’re interested in exploring the deep dark depths of human depravity. That task was always impossible in the first place with a character who has so little screen time anyway and I would argue it was never really a priority anyway. The intention was always to make Rhaenyra look good by comparison and that’s not something I can respect from a storytelling perspective.

Note that this is the starting point for Aegon and Rhaenyra. This is supposed to show how they behave before the war, in a relatively stress-free situation, when they’re unburdened by war trauma and their family dying - explanations that could be given as reasons for their later ruthlessness. But nothing show!Rhaenyra (or even book!Rhaenyra) has ever done could ever hope to amount to the trifecta of awfulness that they assigned to show!Aegon.

So, what exactly are we doing here? The point of Aegon and Rhaenyra as direct adversaries was always that they inhabit a similar plane. It’s not even about Aegon being likable or sympathetic, it’s about the fact that it separates him too much from Rhaenyra and it positively sanctifies Rhaenyra by comparison. You could certainly prefer one over the other, but their differences are meant to inspire conversation; they cannot be so completely removed from one another as to operate in different leagues of morality. If we monsterize Aegon too much, we don’t even have the space to properly explore that in the story and it would mess too much with the way his character needs to evolve in order to hit the particular narrative beats that George decided are set in stone. So giving him these massive transgressions as a starting point and turning him basically into the Antichrist throws the rest of his arc off balance for me and the thematic parallels become too off-kilter for me to be able to enjoy it.

To me Rhaenyra’s story is very reminiscent of (white) feminism, very “rights for me but not for thee”: a rich, white, privileged woman fighting for her own advancement and not caring about the plight of anyone else. The Dance of the Dragons is meant to inspire conversation and debate, both on the legal front and on the political utilitarian front. Is male primogeniture fair, even if it maintains stability in the realm? Can we change that? How? Does shifting to simple primogeniture when it comes to royal succession engender progress in some way? Should royal succession reflect inheritance laws for the rest of the population? How are laws changed in a medieval common law system? Is it fair for the King to change laws however he wants, at the drop of the hat, or should the lords have some say? What can/should the King do if his vassals refuse to abide by his choices? When it comes to waging a destructive war to replace one “unworthy” candidate for the throne with another “unworthy” candidate, where do we place that on the moral spectrum? Is the population thriving/not dying in war more or less important than maintaining male primogeniture? Is it really worth it just to have a nominal female successor that won’t really bring about systemic change? These questions are really worth exploring and there are no straightforward answers to them, but if Aegon is Satan on Earth, none of these questions matter anymore, because Rhaenyra automatically becomes the better option and no price is steep enough to pay to get rid of Aegon. And the point never was that Rhaenyra would make a better ruler than Aegon or is even a better person than Aegon; trying to shoehorn her into that narrative only hurts the story overall.

There’s something to be said for the fact that in the last stages of the war, Aegon’s and Rhaenyra’s journeys inversely parallel each other: while Rhaenyra is rejected by the population and kicked out of King’s Landing while she’s occupying the Iron Throne, Aegon manages to convince people on Dragonstone to fight for him and he takes the castle with little resistance. There is something to be said for the fact that it’s Aegon who gets to kill Rhaenyra, not the other way around. That he’s the one who gets to live that little while longer. The author could have simply chosen for them to have one last battle and end up killing each other, but he doesn’t. And IMO we would not be able to get to that point in the story in a way that feels true and organic to the internal logic of this fictional universe if we corrupt Aegon’s development and make him so reprehensible to begin with.

TLDR: I take issue with HotD’s portrayal of Aegon in direct comparison with the text of Fire and Blood, but I am open to dark!Aegon explorations in fic. However, I do not feel like this is appropriate in canon, as it messes too much with the balance of the story and corrupts the wider themes and messages, both of the Dance of the Dragons and of the ASOIAF series in general.

Diamond In The Rough Ch10 A New Life- College Life That Is P3

Gordie looked about ready to give his siblings an Earful but everyone froze when the lights were switched back on and everyone froze as Melony stood there with Gordie third little brother next to her. And she stood there staring completely bewildered at the scene before her. Staring at all of you and the strange setting you all were in.

"....Can someone tell me what's going on here?"

Gordie just sunk down defeated in his seat and covering his face. "P-Please just get me out of this situation, Ma."

From there things seemed to be going alright. Dinner was less awkward, and when Melony found out what the siblings had pulled, she scolded them and made the four of them apologize to the both of you before continuing on with Dinner. Gordie seemed less tense only when the two of you were able to get out of there and finish walking you all the way back to the hotel where he kept apologizing for everything that had happened today but you reassured him it wasn't his fault and you had a fun time. Poor guy seemed so stressed over it. From there things went back to normal. He did swing by about two days later on Sunday when he knocked at your door but when it opened he was met with a BIG surprise. A thrum sound of question answered the door and he came face to face when your new scolipede poked her head out of the door and spooked him enough to fall backwards as the thing looked down at him. You arrived pushing her out of the way, upon hearing his yelp.

From the ground he pointed up at her. "W-W-What the heck is that thing doing in here?!"

"You mean, Venom? She likes to sleep on the floor. Isn't she just the sweetest bug type?"

He could only stare as you cooed and patted her happily thrumming head. "...*sigh* I think we need ta have a talk."

Despite his warnings you still let the large pokemon along with your knew Glaceon, which you affectionately named Rena, out along with all your other pokemon. With it came new challenges. You can to go out more in order to make sure they all got exercise, you got more strange looks from people walking so many strange pokemon around, and you had to buy more expensive pokemon food. Considering Scolipede's only existed on other regions and on the Isle of Armor, you had to make sure Venom had special food and it had to be specialized food. You had to buy separate bags of poison and bug type food and mix them together for her as well as buy them more frequently considering she was much more larger than your other pokemon. Sigh. Hard but nothing you couldn't manage. Gordie did let Officer Jenny know the scolipede was caught and in good custody but other than that it didn't seem much of the investigation was known to you...until much, MUCH later. It was months later actually. You had gone back to work on Monday morning and it seemed the shouting Gordie did at your bosses shook them up enough to be super apologetic and more accommodating to both you and Sapphire, which was a better change of pace. You weren't planning on staying anyways. Only until the school year started back up again then you'd quite to move back into the dorms and take your second year of the standard course. Gordie continued to come in and like usually would greet you and Sapphire before ordering and chatting with you, once and a while apologize again for the date you two had, but other than that things were mostly back to normal. Until one day Gordie came in seeming somewhere between really happy and really miffed. About two months later in Early March. As usual the doorbell rang, you looked up smiling expectantly, and Gordie walked on up to you silently. You noticed his look and blinked.

"Hey. Are you ok?"

"Yeah...I got some news but not all of it's good," he said sighing.

"What happened?" Did something happened between himself and his mum again? Did his siblings do something?

"Remember when I told ya about those pokemon poachers sneaking other regional pokemon into Galar?" You were surprised he suddenly brought that up, but you slowly nodded and he groaned, a hand rubbing his temples. "Well, it turns out the investigation finally turned them all up."

Your eyes widened. "You're kidding."

"Nope! They found the main ring leaders through some informants and undercover cops. The reason it took so long was cause o' all the problems the new Chairwoman's been havin' ta fix. Turns out there was a decent sized poaching team smuggling in other regional pokemon and shinies of all kinds and then sellin' them ta the highest bidder. They were able to put a stop to it and recovered most of the pokemon to be relocated, but they're still crackin' down on the buyers and any other pokemon that was lost in the shuffle."

"What do you mean 'lost in the shuffle'?"

"Well, turns out in order to smuggle 'em in, some of them would pay some other guys of theirs to catch pokemon from other region and return to Galar pretendin' ta be breeders, the problem was sometimes the pokemon would actually be accidentally shipped to different pokemon daycares and nurseries for other breeders to study. That's why the guy Officer Jenny apprehended a few months back broke into Circhester's Pokemon Nursery. He was after the scolipede that escaped from there." He tilted his head with a hum towards you. "...In fact I think that might've been how your Zangoose ended up in that claw game somehow too."

That...Actually explained so much. It wasn't really a surprise or shock to you really that this would be the case, but that still begged the question. "So what happens now?"

He shrugged. "Most of the problem has been taken cared o' and the ring's shut down, although they're still after some of the buyers and confiscating any pokemon who were given to bad owners. Some people's come forward and given the pokemon over but other than that, Officer Jenny n' her best team's gonna handle it from here. As far as I know, any involvement of mine's no longer needed unless something happens here again."

"And....what about my pokemon?" You frowned. "Will I have to give them up too?''

"Absolutely not," he assured you softly, "The pokemon in your care care about ya a lot, and you take really good care of them. There's no reason for me to think otherwise so you don't have ta worry 'bout anything."

You let out a sigh of relief smile back on your face. "Thank goodness. ....*ahem* S-So anyways, did you want your regular?"

He nodded. "Sure! Although I-...U-Um..W-W-Wanted to ask y-y-you somethin' in return."

"What?"

"D-Do ya wanna watch another movie with me t-t-this Sunday?"

And life continued on as normal. You worked. Gordie kept coming around. You worked and even got all your major assignments done! ...well Most of them. There was still two others you needed to do. One required you to have a partner so you had to wait until you got to college, and your quest to capture a third pokemon. You did try, but you barely had time between your job, taking care of your pokemon, and your other assignments you did. Along with going on a few more dates with Gordie. Until the fated month was almost there. August. When you'd have to go back. So the month before in May you decided to resend in your application remembering what Sonia did so you could do it again. It was finally time to fill out the form including your Birth Region, current address, name, which course you were applying for (Standard Course, 2nd Year), etc. You still remembered the 'hometown' you said you were from. Vaniville Town. To this day you still had no idea what compelled you to say it, but you chalked it up to your brain just blurting out a random town to not raise suspicion. Now was the easy part. You had to select five or six of the ten classes you took last year, and you knew EXACTLY what classes you'd be picking. You wouldn't pick all ten again like last year. With the new responsibilities of your pokemon and focusing on other things, it'd be too big of a burden to take on. They had all the same classes as last year as well- Science and Culture, History, Languages and Writing, Arts, Home Ec, Math, P.E., Battle Studies, Health and Medical, and Pokemon Care.

You chose science and culture, Pokemon Care, Battle Studies, Home Ec, health and medical, and languages and writing.

Six classes sounded like a decent amount and since you had most of the tough assignments concerning those classes out of the way, it should help a little bit. So you sent it all in and waited for a reply back, which you received the first day of August. An email, stating that they had accepted your application along with a date for the first day of the new school year. You were expecting you'd be accepted and you made sure to give a call to Leon to make sure the scholarship the Chairwoman gave you also covered your second year and thank ARCEUS it did! You should be able to pick up your new books and be able to just focus on your studies which as a relief. You gave your bosses your two weeks notice and informed the hotel of your eventual departure and packed up most of your essentials to be ready to go at the beginning of the new year. You were expecting everything, but what you weren't expecting was the sudden visit of Gordie's. The Sunday before the school year started, there was a knock at your door and when you answered it, Gordie was there which wouldn't be surprising as he sometimes visited you but there was something...different about his stance that made you pause in your smile to greet him. There was something more...serious. Stoney about the way he stood there, hands in his pockets and mouth pressed in a thin line when you opened the door to greet him.

"Gordie?"

"Hey, Y/n," he greeted in a monotone, almost tired voice, "Can I come in? There's somethin' real important I need to talk to ya about." You stood blinking for a moment before you nodded and stood aside to let him in. "Thank you."

"So what brings you here?" You slowly closed the door behind him as he calmly stood there and turned to you. "Did something bad happen?"

To your relief he shook his head no, but still had that serious face. "Sorry if I came in the middle of anything. I actually just wanted to talk to you, but it's about something serious so I figured I'd do it in person when you had time. I know the new college year's comin' up and with all the new people comin' in I-..." You blinked when you noticed the shaky breath he took. "I-It made me realize I had ta ask somethin'."

Well he wasn't wrong. The hotel was overcrowding with the sudden arrival of so many new people coming in the bundles and more and more were arriving every day for the new upcoming school year. Which meant you were going to be going back there too soon. But what about that could've prompted Gordie to come here to you?

Slowly you nodded your head yes. "Ok. What is it?"

He shakily again took a breath and his hand reached up to rub his head, the serious melting away instantly and replaced with a sheepish. "I-...I-I know these last few months we've been..." he gestured at nothing. "Seein' each other, but w-w-we never directly defined what we were. I-I know it's somethin' more than just friends but I mean-..D-Do you want it to be more? I-I mean more than friends! Do you wanna remain friends? Which I'm totally fine with staying! B-But what I-I'm tryin' to ask is that-..W-Well that being-...D-Do you wanna-..." He sucked in a breath. "Y-Y/n, d-do you wanna be m-my...girlfriend? I -I mean...Is that what we are to each other?"

And you went silent. Surprised at what he was asking. He came all the way here to ask you if you wanted to be...his girlfriend?

"Y-Ya don't have ta give me an answer now!," he assured you holding up his hands, "I-I get i-if m-m-me bein' in the limelight so much sounds off puttin' o-o-or if you wanna keep things casually n' not serious! O-Or you don't think of me that way at all! Or- I-....UUuuhh-"

His voice trailed off as one of your hands grabbed his and he looked wide eyed from your hand to your smiling face. "Aw, Gordie. You were worried about something like this? It's sweet." His face boomed a red as you just laughed at his reaction. "But to answer your question, yes. I wouldn't mind being considered your girlfriend despite everything."

He stared at you silently. "....my girlfriend?..."

You chuckled. "That's right. If you really want me to be." He didn't answer and you blinked. "Gordie?"

Gordie's face was somewhere between pale 'I saw a ghost' like and flustered 'I just got my first kiss' pink. He stood there for a few more seconds as you tried to figure out what to do, before leaning sideways and falling to the floor with a thud.

"Gordie!?" You shouted as the rock type gym leader tilted sideways to the right and with a loud thud sound collided with the floor. You immediately dropped to your knees next to the dazed man sprawled on the ground blankly staring at the ceiling. Your hands immediately went under his head and chest pulling his shocked form up towards your concerned face. "Are you ok!? Speak to me!"

He continued staring up at the ceiling in a daze, sunglasses crooked on his nose. "...You're...g-gonna be my...g-g-girlfriend?"

"I-..Y-Yeah." You blinked. "But are you ok? GAH!?"

You were sat up really quickly by a blur and Gordie was all of a sudden sat up clutching your arms looking serious and lost at the same time, sunglasses falling off in the process. "Did ya mean it!?" He looked at you wide eyed. "You wanna be with me? A-And ya don't mind? Y-You.." His hands slowly let go of your arms staring like he didn't believe you. "You said you w-wouldn't mind goin' with me?..Really?" You slowly nodded. "....Why?"

"Because I like you-like you back?", you tried raising a brow at him before you reached your hands up to gently patted his shocked shoulder with a smile. "And because I think your dorky attitude's really cute and you treat me with respect. And I really, really like you."

Gordie could only stare at you before a dopey smile crossed his face and he sighed. "Oh thank bloody Arceus. I thought for a moment you'd say no. ..I put way too much pressure on myself don't I?"

"Oh yeah. You do."

And thus..you had gained a new relationship. And it felt so casual. So normal. So....natural. Is this what a real relationship was like? You were sure you had feelings for Gordie now. It was hard not to when your heart fluttered in your chest and he made you smile so much. So it was official now. You had a boyfriend. A boyfriend who happened to be a very famous, popular gym leader. ...The thought made your head spin. Being friends with someone like Leon felt like a dream enough, but dating someone like that? That was a whole new level. But...You were ok with this. Gordie made it feel so smoothly, and he was probably the best guy you could've ended up in a relationship with. Kind, caring, attentive, understanding on a another that you two could understand each other with your similar pasts- The list goes on. But soon enough you did have something else more important to worry about when the day came. The first day of school. You woke up bright and early, and with all your pokemon and things packed up, you began walking back towards to the school. And you weren't the only one.

Lots of young people around your age or slightly older walked around you. They went back past you back towards the town and back up the pathway in the same direction you were headed, LOTS of them carried various forms of backpacks, boxes, books, papers, and a slew of other things. Sometimes even having a pokemon with them helping to carry more boxes, books, etc for them. You all started coming around the GIANT snow covered hill behind the rock type gym, down the cobblestone road, and was met with familiar sight. A GIANT building almost thrice the size of the Rose of Rhondelands Hotel was standing there proud and tall, and you did mean tall, it was taller than Rose Tower even as you still stood there staring up at it. And it..was in the odd shape of a castle-ish like design a lot like Hammerlocke's gym. The cobble stone pathway lead up to the giant building's giant double doors and split off between two other large (but not AS large as the school) buildings that was in front of it on either side of the pathway. What must've been HUNDREDS of people and their pokemon walking around all three big buildings and the pathways.

"Ah. Well it's good to see this again. *sigh* C'mon guys. Let's go get this over with."

It all took a while. You had to have Venom and most of your other pokemon wait in front of the main school building as you went in with Zen and just like last year, you went through the entire process of standing in the line in the front hall/library and waited until you got up to the front where the same two people were handing out papers. And you went through the same thing you did last year-

"Here's a map of the university," he spoke handing you a folded piece of paper he pulled from the desk. "And here's your room key." He then held out a small metal key which you also took. "Hold onto it. You only get one and you'll be paying for a replacement if you lose it. You're room's in Dorm B Room 35 on the second floor and you'll be sharing the space with two room mates." He then held out stapled papers. "This is a list of all your class schedules with the times marked as well as your teachers' names and the calander of what days classes are out, holidays, and when the college year ends next year. As well as all the rules of C.U.." He then squinted his eyes. "Read. Them. Thoroughly. Any rulebreakers will be expelled as consequence." He then pointed towards the double doors. "Before you get your package you need to report to the cafeteria for your Student ID card. According to your file with us, you also have a pre-ordered book package. Be sure to pick it up from the Dean's office."

Well it was easy enough getting your new student ID card, and then going back to Mr. Snow Flake's office to retrieve your new books for the year. It was still heavy which was why you brought along Zen to help carry it. The Director seemed 'happy' to see you again though he did express 'how sad' he was for you not choosing all the classes again. Ugh! After that it was only one last other stop before meeting back up with your team, and that was the school's supply store! You still had some leftover school supplies from last year but it wouldn't be enough to last the whole year, so it was off to the store to get all stocked up and then back to meet up with your team who seemed happier seeing you there and were even MORE happy when you said you all would be going back inside now. You knew exactly where this dorm room was because this was the same room you had last year, you just wondered who your new roommates were. It couldn't be Stacy or Emerald (Thank Arceus-) again. Both graduated last year. You just hoped it wasn't another room mate from heck situation. Never the less, you all headed over to the same dorm room, people of all kinds giving you strange looks especially since a GIANT scolipede was being walked through the halls. You ended up going over to Dorm B Room 35 on the second floor and stopped in front of the wooden door with all your things as people continued to walk around you and go in and out of other rooms around you. Hello again old home. You didn't even bother knocking this time. You just went ahead and used your key to go instead, and the inside was completely the same. A small common area/kitchen area was there just stuck in one space with a sink and such and across from that was a small carpeted area with a sofa and small coffee table. Across from that was three random doors and inside the room was another girl around your age. Not Emerald or Stacy. This girl looked to have been in the middle of moving in stopping in the doorway that was once Emerald's room, box in her hands. She had the lightest blue hair you'd ever seen, in fact it was such a pale blue it looked almost white, with dark purple eyes that almost looked black in coloring in a short ponytail. And a pair of glasses were sat right on her face. And she stared at you like you'd suddenly walked in with a whole circus behind you horns blaring..Well you guessed she must've been surprised when a slew of pokemon came shuffling in behind you.

"Uh...H-Hi!," you greeted with an awkward smile and wave. "Um...I'm Y/n! You must be the new room mate huh? Miss-..."

She ever so slowly...blinked..before shaking her head. "Uh. Y-Yeah." And she rose a brow. "Uh...Why are you parading so many pokemon out?"

"Well the school's rules said we can have our pokemon out as long as they're not huge like an onix or damage the walls. And my pokemon are all well behaved, so as long as they don't so anything it's fine right."

To your surprise she seemed to think for a moment before slowly nodding. "Hm...Well that's fair enough." She again shook her head before looking at you. "My name's Topaz. I assume you're one of my roommates for the year?"

"Yeah! That's me!" You smiled. "It's so nice to meet you! Are you in the standard course too?"

She shook her head. "Third Year Historian Major on the Ultra Course. I'm here to gain more knowledge on the history of the Galar Region and preserve it for future generations." Oh! Kinda like Sonia's science research. That sounded really interesting. "Are you a first or second year Standard Course student?"

"Second! It's gonna be my last year here." You then gestured to what used to be Stacy's room last year. "Is our other room mate in there?"

At this Topaz rolled her eyes and scoffed making you blink. "You mean my cousin? Yes and no. She made me move all her things in here for her, but she's insisting on spending the first two months living in the hotel back in town."

You...blinked. "..She's what?"

"Yes. Something about 'needing to be alone for her sanity' or something ridiculous like that," Topaz scoffed before rolling her eyes again, "Honestly I think my aunt spoilers her too much, but you should see her here soon enough." She then looked at you. "But if I were you, I'd avoid her as much as possible. She can be super annoying."

So..Another Emerald. ..Great.

You groaned. "Well..thanks for the warning. Are you sure my pokemon being out won't bother you?"

"As long as they don't disturb my sleeping or studying time, go into my room, or tear up they place, then you can have an snorlax in here for all I care. I don't really stick my nose in other people's lives anyways."

Ok. So Topaz was blunt, and doesn't seem like the socializing type, but you'd still take her compared to Emerald any day. She seemed respectful enough at least, and didn't seem to care about you having all your pokemon out in the room. Which was good enough for you! You got to move in and make yourself at home, setting up your room again and letting your team make themselves at home. And that was it. Your whole set up was..well set up! And you were ready for the next year to begin. Most of the hardest assignments were already done awaiting you to turn them in, and all you had to do was take the classes between that time! The first month seemed to go by completely normally. You went to classes with Zen, took notes, did any work assigned- The works. Nothing really happened. It was all mundane to be honest. The only thing different was that different was it was less stressful now that you weren't taking so many classes. Topaz was really chill as well. As you thought, she didn't REALLY interact with you a lot. Most of the time she didn't even talk to you when she was around. Not out of rudeness, but because she seemed always swamped with studying and constantly surrounded by books and papers despite the year just beginning. But sometimes she'd say hi or ask how your day was if she had some time to spare, which was nice. And most importantly-

SHE WAS QUIET!! YOU GOT TO SLEEP IN PEACE!!!

There wasn't any constant jabbering on the phone from the other side of the walls, or loud complaining at two in the morning, or music blaring when you were trying to sleep. IT WAS FREAKING FANTASTIC!! The most noise Topaz would make was every once and a while listen quietly to recorded lectures or some notes she recorded on her phone speaker. It was like a roommate from heaven! THANK YOU ARCEUS!! August passed by peacefully and then September was starting. And again nothing really, really out of the ordinary happened. Classes got a little harder now but still nothing you couldn't handle. Although you still saw no sign of this mysterious third roommate that was still M.I.A. You did try asking Topaz about it once to which she only groaned and said-

"She's still coming to classes surprisingly, but she's still refusing to come liver here."

"Isn't it expensive to pay for both the dorm room AND a hotel room? Why doesn't she just stay in one?"

She shrugged. "My aunt can spare the money, so really she doesn't have to worry about it. But I think she's just using it as an excuse to try and meet the gym leader."

"...Melony?"

"Gordie. But unfortunately she's forced to attend classes because of the school's strict policies which doesn't give her a lot of time to look for him. If she skips classes she'll be expelled. My aunt only agreed to pay as long as she attends college. She's also the one who's paying for everything. So no classes equals no money and that equals to her being unable to stay and look for 'Prince Charming."

And that made you pause. "....She's a giant fangirl of Gordie's?"

"That's one way of putting it. *sigh* I feel so bad for the guy. I just hope she grows out of these ridiculous fantasies."

That stirred a little bit of annoyance in you, hearing the fact someone was fangirling and had a crush on YOUR boyfriend. Maybe a bit of jealousy there, but you had to remember. Gordie was a popular gym leader with a large following almost as big as Raihan's. Of course he'd have fangirls/boys like any other celebrity, so you couldn't really get mad at anything. But other than that you still didn't hear much about this 'fangirl roommate' from Topaz other than one or two phone calls you accidentally overheard. The first time it was Topaz talking on her phone to someone with an irritated tone in the kitchen-

"Are you even going to come unpack all the stuff you made me drag here for you?....WHAT!? No I'm not going to unpack everything for you! Are you nuts!?....BECAUSE I'M NOT YOUR BUTLER!! THAT'S WHY!! I'm not going to unpack everything just for you to not ever use the room and then just leave me to repack everything at the end of the year! I'm already stuck holding onto your room key! Wha-....UGH!! Fine! Just make sure you at least remember to get your things because I won't be carrying them back for you!"

She had cut the call short when she noticed you standing there and just acted like none of that ever happened, and frankly you just minded your own business. It didn't really concern you or bothered your life so you decided to stay out of this one. More days passed and that was when the second phone call happened just a few days before October started. You were just writing down a small essay for your writing class when a loud angry voice could be heard from the living room area-

"NO!! I don't care if you're 'busy'! What do you think I'm doing with my time!?" The loud voice of Topaz made you jump and blink at your door. "I can't just drop everything and do stuff for you whenever you want! Let alone THIS!! Why would you think it was ok to ask me to do your homework!?.....WHAT!? NO!! Why would I?!... Don't use 'but we're family' as an excuse!! I've already gone out of my way to help you by watching over your room but I absolutely REFUSE to help you CHEAT!! No wonder you have to retake your final year! Don't call me again unless it's for your room key or to apologize! I don't want to hear from you until then!!"

And then you heard her stomp off to her own room, slamming the door behind her and leaving you in silence once again. ....YIKES!! It sounded like Topaz was having a hard time dealing with her cousin, and you didn't blame her. She sounded like a pain to deal with, and you hadn't even MET her yet! Hopefully when (or even if she ever did-) show up, you could just avoid her and she'd leave you alone. The last thing you wanted was ANOTHER Emerald around here. But for now you'd just keep your nose to your own business and focus on school. You couldn't afford to get into any drama right now nor did you want to after that year. Well September ended without a hitch and then October started up. The spooky month. One week passed and then came the middle of the second week. You had just turned in one of the major assignments of one of the classes you prepared for! For your writing and language class you had to interview someone of your choice and then actually take notes of what they said similar to what a journalist would do, and you chose a unique subject to interview. Why your own pokemon of course! Using Sparky to translate what he said to answer your questions. Certainly was the most convenient one to do. Hopefully the Language teacher will like it enough to give it a passing grade. Now you only had to worry about your regular classes. But you'd soon get an unexpected visitor. And that visitor turned out to be someone who you wanted to really see! It all started one Saturday when there was a knock at your dorm door, and you went to go answer it, but when you pulled open the door you were met with a surprise. A surprise that came with white-blonde hair and sunglasses. You recognized the man in an instant.

"Gordie!" You practically threw the door open startling Topaz who was studying on the sofa.

"Hey, sweetie- OOF!"

He barely had time to react before you hugged him, arms thrown around his neck almost knocking him over but he managed to remain upright due to his sturdier build. ''I missed you so much! Where have you been!?"

He chuckled before reaching up to pat your back. "Helping my lil sibs with school, tryin' ta help Circhester with the backed up crowds o' people here- Y'know. The usual. M' so sorry I couldn't contact ya sooner-"

"Don't apologize." You finally let go of him smiling. "I've been pretty busy too lately, so it's ok." You took a moment to look back at Topaz staring back at the two of you surprised still. "Oh. Uh right. Gordie, this is my roommate." You gestured at Topaz. "Topaz, this is my boyfriend."

He nodded. "'Ey! How ya doin'?"

She still stared wide eyed at him, then at you, then back at Gordie. Before pointing. "Gordie? As in like...the Rock Type Gym Leader of Circhester Gordie? THAT Gordie???"

"Same one!"

She pointed at you. "And SHE'S your girlfriend?"

"Yep!"

"....Do you mean girlfriend as in you're romantically involved with each other, or 'girl friend' as in she's just a friend who happens to be a girl?"

At this Gordie gave her a look. "Um...The first one? Tho I don't see why that'd be any of your business."

Topaz stared at you for a long moment before groaning and flopping her head into her hands. "Great....She's going to flip out once she figures out her crush's girlfriend is her dorm mate. I'm too old to be dealing with these things."

"What is she talking about?"

"Nevermind. I'll tell you later." And you'd deal with that later too. You looked back to him. "Anyways what are you doing here?"

"Tch. Other than the fact that I missed ya?" he smiled wider. "I finally got a day off an' I wanted ta ask if you wanted to spend it with me?"

"Uh, yes! absolutely! I need to take my team out and buy some more food anyways. I'm starting to run low."

He smiled. "Great! Then we can watch a movie at my place?"

"Sounds good! Let's do that."

With that you and your team left with Gordie, grabbing your coat and bidding the now tired looking Topaz good bye before you all took off. You knew you were in yet another soon to be mess probably, but you didn't want to get into all of that right now. UGH! Like every other day, it was cold and chilly outside with only your coat and scared being the protection between you and said cold. Your first step outside and hearing the snow crunching under your feet was a strange peaceful sound as was the atmosphere which smelt clean and of pine trees and whatever food stands were out this time of day. Peaceful. Serene. A few other people were out today too, not as many as there was on the weekdays when classes were going on, but still a lot. Circhestor was right around the giant hill you walked back around past the rock type gym. The small town was hustling and bustling full of college students and possible buyers to be wooed into spending money from all the stands and open stores advertising their wares to the masses. However you were busy talking away with Gordie, arm wrapped around his, and smiling a lot more than you remembered for a long time. He asked you some questions about your classes, how they were going, what you were doing and you both caught up with what each other was doing. The first thing you both did was stop by a small open place where you could just let your pokemon run around for the next two hours freely while just sitting and talking to Gordie. It was all peaceful.

....Maybe too peaceful as you'd soon find out.

After two hours Gordie suggested watching some movies together and you agreed but first you really did need to stop by the general store and buy some more pokemon food. With the rate these guys were eating (especially Venom-) you'd be needing it. So it was agreed. You'd stop by the store and buy the food before hanging out at his house. Shouldn't be a problem since you coaxed Venom into letting you use her back to help carry the heavy bags. So the both of you stopped by the store but you didn't think the store owner would allow you to bring all your pokemon inside, so Gordie being the sweetheart he was offered to stay outside to watch the rest of your team while you got the pokemon food you needed with Zen. Sounded good to you so with Zen you entered the store and went straight towards the pet supplies-...Uh..Poke Supplies aisle. And there Zen helped you out as you loaded his arms with food bags for different pokemon-types. Dark and fire for Cerberus, Normal for Zen, Bug and Poison for Venom, Ice for Rena, Water for Silver, and of course a twenty four pack of batteries for Sparky. You couldn't forget about the little Rotom in your phone. It took a moment to get all the heavy bags to the counter to be paid for and checked out and....YIKES!! You knew the high quality stuff was better for them but if they kept being this expensive, you'd run out of funds. Soon it was paid for and with both yours and Zen's arms full, you both made your way to the front of the store and through the automatic doors. But-....Something made you stop instantly in your tracks. Smile instantly wiped off your face. Because as soon as you stepped out you noticed it-

...Noticed HER.

She had her back to you at first but it looked to be a girl around your height and age talking to Gordie, hands behind her back and rocking on her heels. By the way she was acting, you'd think she was talking to her crush. Gordie seemed to be very, very, VERY offputted because he just looked at her with a deadpanned look behind him Cerberus seemed to be growling for no reason and hiding behind a confused Venom's legs. You probably would've stopped either way but that wasn't what really made you stop...It was the green colored hair that was attached to the back of the head of the girl who spoke to Gordie. She spoke too softly for you to hear other than mumbles where you stood but you caught a few words-

"...sometime-....know....handsome.~"

Well whatever she said it seemed Gordie was very displeased because he held up a hand. "M' sorry. I'm very...flattered that a fan of mine would think highly enough o' me to ask for a date, but I already have a girlfriend."

The reaction was instant-

"WHAT!?," the woman shrieked loud enough to finally be heard by you...hey...Did that voice sound familiar to you? "WHO!? Honestly who could be better than me!?"

This time he scowled and looked about to say something but stopped, and looked up towards you.......And then smiled. Naturally upon seeing him smile away from her, the woman whipped around to look at what he was looking at. You looked at her. She looked at you. Both of your eyes made contact....And INSTANTLY your stomach dropped as you recognized who it was.

"Emerald!?"
