i really hope y’all are choosing your morals over kpop; because we do not know these men at all. i will never side with or defend a predator and a criminal, even with little to no proof. even if there is the smallest chance he may be innocent, i will always believe the victim first.

for sm to just outright put out a statement on their own before any rumors even surfaced and immediately kick him out? this has to be insanely serious and i’m terrified of what he could’ve done. the crazy thing is with everything currently happening in korea with the telegram situation, and korean women constantly being in danger in general because of the men there, i’m not at all surprised that celebrities are being exposed. sm has protected criminals before, and held onto lucas when his scandal came out as well as other artists who have been exposed for similar crimes. i can’t even imagine the severity of the current situation. we’ve seen what happened with the burning sun, and these men are not immune to being misogynistic, vile human beings.

members have already unfollowed him and deleted posts with him in them; his best friend of 17yrs has unfollowed him. the company taking the initiative and him getting kicked out of the group in less than a second before anything even came out, no denying the claims or even trying to defend him. that should be enough to tell you and understand how serious this actually is. i am beyond disgusted with him and this whole situation.

i sincerely hope the victim is doing okay and praying for them to heal and get the justice they deserve. and remember that your love for these celebrities should always be conditional, because we do not know them. it’s their job to put on a show and show you their public persona, but behind closed doors? we don’t know what they’re actually like. we put them on a pedestal and yet we don’t know what they’re really capable of. they are still men after all. i hope the police are taking this seriously. there needs to be consequences and these women need to be protected.

let this be a lesson to all of us. they don’t know us, and we don’t know them, not really, not at all.

ALWAYS choose morals over these strangers you idolize. and as women, we should be standing with the victims.

i hate dc twitter fans… like a lot, at this point i have to be honest. theres a reason i’m on tumblr and not twitter. the good people on there who like unproblematic things, all they know how to do is fight and harass people and make fun of things people enjoy and on the other side is problematic people. im seeing a lot of people generalize a curtain type of shippers like jayroy, birdflash and jondami shippers and that is a seriously bad habit. (not calling you this or saying just having that habit makes you this) but the only people i know who have that type of habit are like… racists or something, the type of people who take curtain characteristics of a group of people and use it to assume things for anyone similar. all i want to EVER do is talk about and enjoy my ships cause they make me - us happy and i cant do that if im weird about them or always fighting. but oh well, im going to have to use their same mentality and assume because youre a dc twitter fan, you’re like the anti christ so i dont die before 20 from an aneurism.

Long time no see, huh? First I wanna apologize for such a long hiatus. I know last time I posted I said the new chapter of Bloom was almost done. But I had some life stuff happen and was very overwhelmed. For the last few months I’ve been in sort of a depressive episode, normally they don’t last that long, but this time it did and it caused me to become behind in work, on top of a lot of other stuff with family and myself in general. I won’t go into detail but I have some mental health issues and I am unmedicated so when this happens it’s a bit difficult to cope.

I’m ok! Don’t worry. I just could barely function for a bit other than working and doing the bare minimum. I’m really sorry for being gone for so long.

But… I am back! And before anyone asks, YES BLOOM IS STILL ALIVE! I am going to absolutely be updating Bloom. And I will continue to, along with other one shots/stories at some point. But before I get ahead of myself, I am going to focus on getting the newest chapter of Bloom out.

Please be patient with me. I’m not going to give an exact time of when Bloom will be updated, but it will be soon. I still need to finish up the chapter, and I am hoping to this week. But we will see how things go.

I’m doing a bit better now. This might be really corny, but I found a group of online friends to talk about kpop with and be delusional with in the midst of all of this. I never expected to become such good friends with these girls but seriously, they have helped me through the last few months. Without them I think I would have been so much worse. 🥲 so thank you to them for keeping a smile on my face and making me laugh when I normally wouldn’t have been able to. I honestly don’t care too much about the whole jk 🚬 thing, just like I didn’t care with V nor with Suga. I can not like something and still love/like and respect the people who chooses to do those things. Like me not liking the idea of vaping and my sisters doing it — you do you I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️. Now, the only thing that intrigues me about this whole thing is why now are we being bombarded with so much… idk a good word so I’m just gonna name it “crude/sensible/private moments” of them (all of them in a way). Like the V and Jennie video, I just don’t see how 10 years in the industry have been so relatively “smooth”, but now in this second chapter it feels like we have had one revelation after another ? I’m not saying it’s planned, but I also don’t think it’s entirely coincidental, specially with how the members (like RM and JK in recent lives) have been expressing themselves and slowly removing/breaking the “idol standard” frame.

I think I mentioned in one of the Asks I posted a couple of hours ago, that I think the reason we are seeing more of the guys' private lives is because fans are not respecting those moments like they used to. I don't think it's because the guys are now doing this or that, I want to believe that no one is naive enough to believe that before those 7 men stayed at home doing nothing, apart from working. Now the lack of content has caused many to look for any way to find out about them. And now they are quicker to justify why a video or photo etc. spreads much faster. Many don't care about the guys and respecting their private lives, many care about feeding the parasocial relationship they have created with them. Or feeding that obsession. That addiction; because what's the point of knowing what they do in their spare time if we're supposed to be fans of their music and variety content?

As for this part, I think it's because they really understand the power they have, not just in Korea but in the industry in general. I don't know much about other kpop groups but it's clear to me that no other group has the power that bts has. And it's important to clarify that I'm not talking about popularity, that's something different although no one has the popularity that bts has but in this case, I'm talking about power. Of influence.

Although there are some groups that are quite popular globally they don't have the power and influence that bts has and this is proven by the participations that bts has had in important stages outside of music. Yes, those appearances are also due to the popularity of the group but mostly due to the power and influence they have. Even if that influence was only on their fandom, that would be huge because bts fandom is huge and that's something that I think everyone with full knowledge of the facts recognises.

And BTS knows it. The members know it. They are positioned enough in the industry and society I think, to shake up the status quo - once again - of what it is to be an Idol. A kpop artist and even a Korean artist. I think that also applies to their relationship with the fandom. Joon and jungkook particularly, they're more vocal in expressing what they don't like, in calling out the fandom for doing or saying something they don't agree with and that's important. I think they've understood that the image that we had of them and that maybe they were projecting was a little bit unrealistic and in this new stage of their careers, they're trying to be more honest or honest enough. i mean i don't know how unpopular this opinion is but.... sometimes they probably lipsync. and that's okay.

sometimes they might not have a choice due to the whole production behind a performance, sometimes they might just not be feeling their best. hell, they're performing. they aren't just sitting there and singing as beautifully as we know they can. they're dancing, doing stunts, pretty much acting as well, so i think it's very understandable when kpop groups in general lipsync sometimes, and i think the fandom should stop the whole "my group is better than yours because they don't lipsync💅" like??? sometimes they've got to. all of them do it at some point for many different reasons we won't ever know... and that's fine. they'll still deliver an amazing performance that they've worked very hard for. it's entertainment, it really isn't that deep lol

the problem with kpop fans in general they dont get that some groups dont actually self produce the song themselves so bashing the group is unfair unless its made by the members. they just dont get music and they arent really following the group for the songs mainly the image of the group or the interactions between the members so they dont know nothing about production of music, when somethings not a copy and when something has or hasnt been "stolen" also that word seems to get thrown about so often these days. like yes music producers

kpop fan bases are literal hell for so many groups, they can make or break an artist and at this point its got so toxic that id rather just quietly admire a group from afar these days instead of participating in fan bases cause most these groups demographics are geared towards younger audiences so they dont yet know how to react to something and they could even take such extremes towards members or even other artists

going off on that other anon talking about tarot readings on idols that when they really get into the relationship and dating aspects, personally idk people can argue and disagree with me on this but when it comes to those kinds of readings when it gets SUPER specific all the way down to having “exact names” of people/‘partners’ and stuff along those lines where people start going in with guessing games of names in ask boxes and the tarot readers being like “hehe nope but it’s another idol 😜” , it kinda just gives off the feel of them trying to start drama/rumors/unease amongst stans and to help have their accounts gain traction. kind of like those kpop prediction and sasaeng accounts you see where they share all this “tea” they have and people eat it UP constantly. esp when they’ll say oh take this stuff with a grain of salt and then proceed to state everything like it’s a real fact and all that they’re saying is definitely happening, help fuel the fire with their own inputs/opinions/biases and let their followers defend them if someone thinks that their stuff is iffy.

makes me feel ?? about it not just because of the ethics of it but when you really think critically and rationally about it, the ‘accuracy’ of it seems quite flimsy particularly when things they’ve said in the past contradict their current things but then they can brush it off with some other excuse being like “oh it was like x but now it’s y haha oops”. idk lately it’s been giving me off vibes with the gossip mongering of it all. minus the whole “how would you even know THIS much so specifically from cards/pendulums/etc. alone”, all these sorts of accounts always have the upper hand because of the status they’ve given themselves with the “power/ability/info” that the rest of us don’t have - be it that they’re a tarot reader or predictor, or so called sasaeng, because they refer to themselves as these things they can easily say just about ANYTHING post it and have people run with their words. literally in the past there have been accounts that have straight up said that they were lying about everything they said, the stuff they said wasn’t even accurate and yet maintained a following with people saying how accurate their stuff was which is 😭 for all we know these kinds of specific accounts will just throw together whatever for the heck of it because they CAN and hide behind the “oh but take it lightly though and you don’t have to believe me buuuuut 😳 cards do be saying that” to scare people.

readings seriously vary where look at any four accounts that do these monthly tarot readings on group members and they have different things based on their interpretations (hoping that they do these unbiased though cause being biased seems like it affects the whole thing) so ultimately they’re not the best things to really pay heed to because in the end, what do any of us really know especially with the things we’re reading on the internet? idols are capable of being nice, doing things can be not as nice at any sort of degree, and anything in between but what’s most real is what happens in front of us whether if we see it or not. if your gut feels like this stuff seems way off and ridiculous, maybe you’re not all that wrong actually and try to not let these kinds of things mess with our heads and perceptions of people we never fully know even if it can be hard.

i think that’s why i kinda would give more credence to astrology and natal charts because there’s something about it that feels more ?? grounding about it even if those too aren’t 100% accurate (since we’re all capable of being different and changing). but reading the breakdowns of it with specific aspects that can suggest something about someone’s personality and what they can be like now and later on - they’re sorta just laid out there for you and more digestible/interesting/not ominous which is why yours and others’ natal chart reading posts are better food for thought content. (general readings on future potential stuff is interesting/fun to read though it’s really those current readings that are like huh 🤨 even though people will counterargue everything i just said lmfao)

Hey! I agree with you on most of these posts and I personally would choose astrology over tarot blogs for kpop information.

I read tarot myself and do follow tarot and P.A.C blogs but I don't participate in looking at 'current' readings on idols because I just don't feel it's our business, like does it really matter if our bias is single or not?

At least with astrology right, you can offer a more in-depth analysis with using physical evidence like natal charts to visually see and understand what I'm interpreting.

I just go off based on how I would feel and if I were a kpop idol, I wouldn't care if people analysed my natal chart, I wouldn't care if people made edits, I wouldn't care if people wrote smut about me.

But I would care if someone was saying things about me that weren't true and without any type of evidence or proof.

Particularly if it was really inflammatory and I know how much value stans put on their idols and a simple comment could change how a person views an idol so quickly.

I would first like to say that I based this mostly off his birth chart and personality listed on the fandom wiki. Now I know that there’s an general apprehensive nature about using Idol birth charts, saying that it’s an invasion of privacy. However I would like to point out that all you need is a birthtime and place. Many people don’t know their own birth times so when that happens you just enter 12am, the day you were born and your home town (unless you moved beforehand.) His birthday and hometown are listed in the fandom wiki and I’m assuming someone entered 12am for the exact time or he gave out the time himself. If that is not the case, I’ll take this down for the sake of their privacy.

Doyoung has a lot of air, earth and water in his chart. I’d like to think it’s a healthy balance of all three and with one fire sign (Sag) acting as his Pluto.

As mentioned before your sun sign is your ego which is Aquarius. Like in Johnny, hes very open to anything, he’s a creative at heart and willing to explore new ideas. While I haven’t kept up with NCT recently I do know Doyoung is really connected to the idea of singing and besides being in a kpop group he’s also done some really good covers and even a musical. Beside that, he’s also branched out into other forms of media entertainment such as acting in a drama.

Aquarius are people who constantly think and hard to know on a deeper more intimate level, and I think this especially applies to Doyoung. He distances himself a lot which can come off as awkward at first and he’s very distant with fans compared to other idols (I mean in the fan service aspect.) which I respect because if he doesn’t wanna do it then he shouldn’t.

On the other hand Aquarius’ are so interesting because they draw you in. As an air sign they are constantly doing something and have this “air” about them that draws you in. An Aquarius always has something going on in their life and Doyoung seems especially busy even outside of work. Whether it be with Taeyong, Haechan, Dreamies or even others in NCT. He’s always going out of his way to make everyone comfortable. He’s such a sweetheart in that aspect.

Which transitions into his moon sign, how you feel or present your feelings. Doyoung’s Cancer moon is so so beautiful, because not only is it under its ruling planet but he’s so open with his emotions which are healthy. Of course we as fans don’t know what happens off camera but Doyoung’s cancer moon allows him to open up a little bit emotionally.

Like I said before Doyoung is always accommodating to NEOs, like he’s always there for them and even allows himself to be the butt of the joke for their amusement. Ravenclaws are creatives and stubborn people. They like to push through what they want and while they won’t be as ruthless as a Slytherin, they’re not above going a little to far in the wrong direction (See: Gilderoy Lockhart).

They’re resourceful and like to explore their interests, theyre also willing to give up everything to achieve their goals (see: Xenophilius Lovegood) which while doesn’t really represent Doyoung in any way, but I do believe in the past he has given up something for NCT to succeed (I’m not saying the other NEOs probably didn’t as well,) it’s just that he cares too much about his success: their success as a group.

And even if you take away all of that, he’s so smart and just has thoughts about everything I just know it.

most times when I read for ateez, specially as a group, the energy is very lighthearted and comfortable, they seem pretty close to each other and really emotionally intelligent. their troubles are very common, with the support they have of close friends and family, they will be fine! it's temporary, it's situational 😁

and, like, it's fine and normal to be attracted to people and have explicit thoughts and conversations about them, but people are too comfortable on the internet saying things that we usually keep private. I've said it before, but I think there's a big difference between east asian fans of kpop and the rest of the world, because it's general knowledge for them that they can pay for events and people to play a part when they're lonely, idols aren't the first people to do that. but, for some reason, foreigners, specially westerners, think that when idols are interacting with them, it's not pretend and they're somehow freeing them from the oh so oppressive asian culture. you can easily find videos online of fans comparing idols in korea vs the usa, for example, and it's so dumb because in both cases, they're just doing their best to get paid.

i think instead of giving up on your passion because you see the troubles, you can learn from them! ateez, specially, are people that you can learn so much from just observing them. ask questions, what can you do differently, with no hurry? how can you slowly introduce music career, in a way that makes your soul happy, into your life? and if you ever meet them, I'm sure they would love to give advices and help, they're good with that.

The group didn't see eye to eye with him and TOP did know about burning sun in general but he did not know the details of what was really happening and he had some form of investment financially in it or loaned seungri something then ended up upset & shocked with seungri. he is no longer close to any of them anymore.

Racism and kpop: speculations based on my minimal knowledge of the history between African Americans and Koreans

I have been thinking a lot about westernization lately and racism in kpop. Please note that I am not referencing idols saying slurs or mimicking blaccents when I define “racism”. In this brain dump, the term racism will be used as a replacement for behavior such as wearing cornrows. This is by no means me defending any specific idols or saying racism is okay, because it’s not. For context, I am a white person in America that lives in a primarily white area. I am not trying to say something is racism and something is not, because whether it is racism or not the fact that it hurts people’s feelings is completely valid. In this, I just want to evaluate some things I have learned and use them to start conversation to learn more to better understand the world I live in. Please, if you would like, share what you think on this with me.

I don’t really know where to start, so I’m going to start with defining racism. According to Google, racism is prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism as an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group. Racism can be both intentional, like physically hurting someone because of their skin color, and unintentional, like saying somebody is a certain way because of their skin color, even if it isn’t necessarily intentionally negative.

I’ve noticed a lot that when idols do things such as wear cornrows, international fans are quick to call said idols racist, especially if they do not apologize for doing so. When I first started actually thinking about this, I wondered to what degree is it actually the idol’s choice? I know from behind the scenes videos and things like that that some idols, rookies especially, have no control over their wardrobe or hairstyles on stage. If it is all up to stylists and the company, so why is it the idol who is pegged as the one at fault? But I also know there is really no way to definitively peg if the idol chose the hairstyle or if it was chosen for them because fingers rarely point inwards. Another issue with this is often the hairstyle isn’t addressed as racism by the company. Whether the idol apologizes or not, nine times out of ten, is up to a handful of rich men only concerned about getting richer and not about a few international fans trying to educate on racism. Addressing the issue would bring more attention to it, so the company might just tell the idol to ignore it, whether the idol wants to or not, because negative attention might cause stocks and investments to go down. However, like everything in this post, these are all just casual assumptions. I do not work in the idol industry, so I do not know if these supposed things actually do take place.

The other point I have been thinking about is how westernization, specifically Americanization, affects how international fans view idols’ behavior. Americanization, for those who don’t know, is the idea that American culture and thought affects the global viewpoint in a more interconnected world. Obviously, America has significant history with racism against everyone, but in this case I am focusing on black people because that is what the majority of racist behavior of idols is going towards. Things like wearing cornrows and doing blackface have been done to mock and hate crime African American people time and time again, making them extremely sensitive topics here, and, with the spread of Americanization, we place those viewpoints on people who are not American and have never learned the negative context behind those behaviors. In a more globally connected world, especially with the rise of hip hop in South Korea and Eastern Asia in general (because I have seen similar things in Chinese media), African American culture has spread, and to some people, it has spread without the context of the racist history behind non-Africans using their culture to harass them. To further this point, I know that during the Korean War African American soldiers often inspired Korean people, allowing for things like Korean-style fried chicken to exist now, so who’s to say other aspects of black culture didn’t also spread? (I did a little more research on this to make sure that wasn’t misinformation, and apparently Koreans had fried chicken before, but African American soldiers and KFC have helped the Korean fried chicken that is popularly known today come into existence.)

This is off topic, but I do think westernization, to some degree, impacts how we view the world. I saw a video of a Chinese woman explaining that in some regions of China, there is a festival where people cover their entire bodies in black ash because it is part of their culture, but many people, due to westernized viewpoints, saw this act as blackface and bad rather than a completely separate activity. This isn’t to say an idol wearing cornrows isn’t racist, as cornrows were never part of Korean culture as far as I know, it’s just to say that westernization can close our minds to the differences around the world.

Back to Korean idols now. I realize that to some people, even just one act of racism is enough to hate a person forever and while that is understandable, considering I have never experienced racism myself and therefore have no right to judge how people interpret others’ behavior, I am an eternal optimist that will do nothing but believe in the good of people to the very end. There is really no way to tell if some idols do racist things and commit cultural appropriation because they want to claim it for their own, or if they just think it’s appreciation. There’s no way to read their minds and see whether they did it while knowing the historical context behind it, whether they thought American history is applicable in Korea, or whether they thought it was fine but eventually learned it wasn’t and feel sorry unless they say so themself, and even then we don’t know if that’s how they truly feel. We have no way of knowing if they are choosing to keep silent or if their company has chosen for them. Racism is a difficult topic because it has been the driving factor for atrocities on a global scale, but sometimes I wonder if racism is the actions of a person or just how others interpret it? Realistically it’s probably a mix of both. I don’t really know where I’m going anymore, but that was my brain dump. Once again, please share your opinion with me on this, especially if you’ve read to the end. Am I just believing too much in the good of people and am making excuses? Does my privilege as a white person allow for me to make these excuses, if that’s what they are? I genuinely just want to learn and grow and I won’t be able to do that without getting honest responses.
