people I dont know how I did this. the gods guide my hand. Im so proud of the lineart, of course I have problems with some parts, like the background, and the center, and proportions, but it look so good despite this
(I'll probably still hate this tomorrow though T^T)
*In case you dont understand because the placement is awful the text says - YOU ARE FORBIDDEN FROM DYING ON ME - (I apologize to any english speaker or graphic designer for this abomanation)
this was inspire again from a publication of @br1ghtestlight (i feel like a creep for doing this again i'm so sorry, but they have such amazing ideas!) it was a post about Louise being terrified seeing movies like terabithia or my girl cause she imagine Rudy dying on her and that ignite this idea on my brain. I actually make it surprisingly fast for me. I wasn't even expecting on coloring no less everything else, but I just couldn't help it. I was totally invested in the vision.

My Updated Belcher Kids, Zeke, and Jimmy Jr. Job Headcanons
After "What About Job" I became inspired to update the job headcanons. I know Bob is one of the most unreliable narrators in the show, but it's still the closest thing to canon I'm going to get for now so I'm going to tweak my headcanon a bit to slightly fit what Bob hypothetically thinks might happen. Tina: She went to get a degree in literature at community college. I still think she'll be an author of trashy romance novels, but now I like to think she'll also own a small, (sometimes) peaceful farm by the beach. It just has plants to start out with but it will have horses eventually too (sorry Tina, no going big XD). Bob comes by to help Tina with her plants every now and then. They both enjoy the bonding experience. I also didn't say who she married in the original job headcanon post because I thought it would be better if I left it up to interpretation. Screw ambiguity though, Tina is married to Zeke. He helps out when he can and he got some of his family to work at Tina's farm as well. Part of the plants she grows is for Bob's Burgers while the rest is for selling at the farmers' market. Gene: I'm going with he will become a traveling musician, but I still say he got his start by doing miscellaneous things on Bob's Burgers equivalent to YouTube like in the original post. He travels with Courtney and Alex I'm leaving their relationship up to interpretation because I'm fine either way I just think they are cute all together.
Louise: Has trouble finding herself at 18 but eventually decides to go to community college for chemistry. She started out just wanting to do a field that would help her make explosives. However, she later realized that cooking was just chemistry and she started specifically learning food chemistry. She knew in her heart she wanted to keep her family's business alive and used the knowledge she learned to help experiment on alternative burgers and other food they could sell. She's platonic friends and roommates with Rudy. Rudy works at Bob's Burgers as well, he provides the smoothies and suggestions for allergy-free options for the place. Zeke: He didn't have the means to afford college so he decided to join the navy for action, adventure, and money. They rejected him due to his ADHD though. To make matters worse his dad kicked him out at 18. So he offers to work at Bob's Burgers for a place to sleep as payment until he figures out what to do with himself. Zeke becomes part of the family really fast and Bob is happy to have him as his pupil in the upstairs kitchen. Zeke was still sad that he wouldn't be able to see the world like he hoped if he joined the navy. While he still couldn't join the navy, Teddy did offer to help Zeke at least get a captain's license through his connections. Zeke accepted the offer because it sounded cool to be an official captain if he ever actually had a chance at owning a boat. So during that time he balanced getting his captain's license, working at the restaurant, and earning whatever he could so he could go to culinary school. After he earned his captain's license, he is approached by Mr. Fishoeder (who was probably one of Teddy's connections in the first place) and he offers him a job to captain his booze cruise (which is also totally not used for smuggling anything illegal under the captain's nose, no sir!) at the sexy, adult, night hours on the Wonder Wharf. Not what Zeke had in mind when he got his license but he loved to party and thought it could be fun mixing drinks. Thinking of the chaotic memories that could be made sounded appealing as well. Zeke still works at Bob's Burgers when Louise takes over the restaurant. Louise, Rudy, and Zeke all workshop burgers and food ideas but Zeke is the final decision on if the food is worthy to be sold or not (Louise can never be trusted after the bubblegum burger incident even after studying food chemistry XD) So in the day, he works at Bob's Burgers and Tina's farm while at night he is the party animal captain of the Wonder Wharf booze cruise. Jimmy Jr.: Nothing has changed for him. I still say he's a dance teacher. I don't really have anybody I ship him specifically because none really stand out much. Douglas obviously has a thing for Josh so that's out, I don't want Becky Krespe to give JJ another chance, and while I think the concept of JocelynxJimmy Jr is hilarious, I don't think they would work out. So I'm flexible with whatever as long as it's legal.
Anyway, that's all. This all started because I couldn't brush off what Bob thought Zeke would end up doing. I figured I might as well update all of them after that. Yeah, I know the writers needed at least one person with a boat for the "Children of Men" parody but it's still funny out of all the characters he could have chosen, he picked Zeke.

here's a list of bob's burgers episodes that focus on a specific relationship dynamic between main characters (examples: bob and louise episodes, linda and tina, gene and louise etc) obviously not including every episode where they interact with each other bcuz that would be uhh every episode. but episodes where their relationship or dynamic is the heart of the story and some silly subplots focused on their dynamic w/ each other (with probably a few exceptions)
hopefully this is helpful if you feel like watching louise/tina or bob/gene etc episodes but don't remember all the titles!!! in the future I would like to do a similar list but for ship-related episodes (fischoeder/bob episodes, rudy/louise etc) but we'll see if that happens lol

Do you know what I find the funniest thing? In Louigan fics, Rudy is often portrayed as the 'bad guy' or ex and in Roudise fics Logan is portrayed as the 'bad guy' or villain.
When in reality, we all know these boys would have nothing to do with each other! Even Louise would make sure of that. If Louise was with Logan I don't think he would ever hate Rudy or see him as a threat. And if it was the opposite, Rudy wouldn't certainly ever start anything with him.
A lot of the time it's mischaracterisation, and also the fact that we are writing about over-the-top characters that are like 9 and fictional. But it does make me laugh cause' I see it all the time.
Also random question:
If anyone out there does ship Chloe and Rudy, I just want to know why? Like genuinely! No hate! I really do want to know!

This was sort of inspired by some posts by @unclefathersantateddy and @ratguy-nico talking about some of the ship names in "Bob's Burgers" fandom. I'm a big Louise/Rudy fan and I've always found it kind of funny that it has two different names and I was kind of curious to see if one was more popular than the other. So, the poll is to satisfy my curiosity. (I'll probably still keep using both tags).
I personally prefer Louwheeze. I love ship names that are a little clever and refer to something about the characters or their relationships rather than being a name-combining portmanteau, which just seems like kind of a default option across all fandoms now. (Although some portmanteau names can also be really fun and clever, like Trickey for Trev/Mickey.)
On the other hand, I suppose the downside to Louwheeze is that if you are actually saying it out loud it would be hard to distinguish from Louise (but, all my communication this stuff is in writing so that doesn't really matter.)
Anyway, this is just a silly poll about a silly thing I've thought about! Feel free to vote even if you don't really care about the relationship (but please don't put any negativity in the comments or tags)!

For the Ship Ask meme, can you please share your thoughts on Roudise, Pom?
the noise i made when i saw this was totally normal i swear-
Ship It
What made you ship it? i actually saw a compilation video of them before i got to any of their episodes when i first started the show and thought they were really cute. then i got to Carpe Museum and just died because they were just?? so cute?? and Louise making Rudy a little rebel was my favorite thing. and then they kept bringing Rudy around and i was so happy. and then Bob Actually happened and i just *screams*. it was so frickin precious okay i can't even omg.
What are your favorite things about the ship? listen i am the BIGGEST sucker for childhood friends to lovers. there's just something so sweet about two people who grew up together realizing that somewhere along the way they fell in love, it gets me every time. they also balance each other out really nicely and it makes me smile. i just love them.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? i genuinely don't think they'd ever like officially date. i think they'd either realize that they've basically been dating for years and be like "screw it let's get married" or they'd do what they did in my fic and get married for some kind of purpose (i still vote taxes because it's funny) then realize "oh crap i've been in love with you this whole time." i also can't ever see them having kids, at least not biologically. i don't see Louise as ever wanting to be pregnant, and my personal HC for Rudy is that he's infertile.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks to @daddygrandpaandthebeaver for the tag.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
30
2. What’s your total word count?
44,659
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I write for mostly The Legend of Zelda and Bob's Burgers, but I have written for Escape Room and had thoughts about Six of Crows stuff. And that one Uncle Obi-Wan fic I did for flufftober last year.
4. Top 5 fics by kudos
Too Late
Seeking Solace With You
A Life Interrupted
Stay in Bed
I Met You in a Closet
The first and third aren't surprising, they're both older works of mine. Too Late is an angsty coldfalsh fic I wrote back when I was into the the Flash/Legends of Tomorrow. A Life Interrupted is my unfinished Roudise soulmate au (perhaps the upcoming theme week will motivate me to finish).
I was actually really happy to see Seeking Solace With You to be the second most popular. It's one that I'm proud of, and put a bit more into emotion-wise.
I'm actually surprised Stay in Bed and I Met You in a Closet (both zelink) made it into the top five as I didn't think they were my best works.
5. Do you respond to comments?
I respond to some of them. I'm a bit shy/anxious and I tend to overthink what I say. I absolutely love every comment I get, and I read every one even if I'm slow to respond.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
That would be Too Late, as it deals with the aftermath of The Flash's season three finale where Barry enters the speedforce (I had to refresh my memory of what happened it's been so long, haha).
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Since I love happy endings, there's a few of them. I'll highlight two and cheat a little:
A Call to Ears: A roudise fic where Louise catches Rudy trying on her bunny ears.
And
Dancing with Freckles and Glasses: a Telink fic post Wind Waker where Link helps Tetra practice dancing before a ball.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Luckily no, even when I make typos and errors.
9. Do you write smut?
I do not. The most I do is hint and let readers make their own decisions.
10. Do you write crossovers?
No, not really.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
As far as I know, I have not.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have not.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I cheat again, as I love both Roudise and zelink.
But I also love a lot of ships that I don't write, but read and enjoy canon material of.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
There are a few I have in early stages of writing in notebooks or scraps in a word doc, not much of note.
I suppose A Life Interrupted is one that I have no idea if I'll actually finish since I would have to think of a new way to end it. A good gist of what I may have originally meant as an ending can be read in Hidden in Plain Slide where I have some of my headcannon of Louise not liking things changing is on display, as well as the running away after a confession.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I had a comment on a fic that mentioned nonsexual intimacy and friendship underlying the characters attraction, and I would say that I always try to write relationships that feel balanced in their romantic elements.
I also think I've learned how to tell when something is working and when something is needed to make it work. Especially keeping character's true to their characterizations as best I can. So long as it sounds proper, I'm happy.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing multi-chapter fics. It haunts me that I haven't finished A Life Interrupted, and every so often I think of it.
I could stand to go over my writing for typos and mistakes more. If I think about it too much, I'm sure I could think of a million things.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
I could only do French outside of English, but I wouldn't. While I'm technically bilingual, I'm fairly rusty and don't have confidence to write a whole story in French.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
It would either be Harry Potter or the City of Ember all the way back in my fanfic.org days.
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
I'm going to cheat again and list some I haven't mentioned yet:
Morning Person (roudise)
Burger Approval (zekina, with the Bob and Zeke relationship as a focus)
Lies Carved in Stone (zelink)
This was an interesting one. For tags, if anyone wants to do it, then feel free.

Haven't posted on this blog in 37271 years but I have thoughts about S14s first episodes
First of all how can any of you say "not impressed with this season so far" when there are literally 2 episodes out
Second, ep01 absolutely wasn't my favorite but I enjoyed getting to see louise acting like a 9 year old? She's done a lot of maturing in the last few years (look at ep02?) And it's nice to be reminded she's still a kid
Third, ep02. Ugh yes. I think even people who don't ship rudy/louise can enjoy the platonic lore and the love and support she shows. But shippers are here for it 🤌🏾

Okay, so I feel kinda bad about apparently being the only person to use the Ship Ask game to ask you about something you don't ship. So, in the spirit of "Moody Foodie" (one of my top 271 favorite episodes of "Bob's Burgers"), I'm giving myself a redo.
What do you think about Rudy/Kaylee, Babs?!
Ship Ask Game
Oh none of that! I try to keep ships I don’t like under wraps, so they probably just don’t know which buttons to push lol
What made you ship them? The last scene in Prank You for Being a Friend! Kaylee joins Rudy in the Thinkgineers and tells a corny joke that Rudy loves!
What are your favorite things about this ship? I love that they would have so much to connect over. They’re both nerds, they’ve both gone to Louise to see what the “wild side” is like but ended up maybe not being cut out for the more extreme pranks (except when they are!), they both want to be good kids at the end of the day. I could really see them spending hours inventing things together around the house or playing fantasy games like dnd with no judgment from the other person. They’re just fully allowed to be their true selves! Kaylee in her wizard cape would love Rudy’s magic tricks, while Rudy appreciates Kaylee’s sense of humor. Library dates anyone?
What’s an unpopular opinion you have about the ship? None that I could think of!

Kaylee, Jessica, or Chelsea for this one. You could do either one or all three for the ask opinion game thing. Either works fine
Kaylee
character: hate them | don’t really care | like them | LOVE them | THEY ARE MY PRECIOUS
ship with: Rudy (thanks @babs0987!)
important friends: Louise, Rudy, The Thinkgineers, Tina perhaps in a year or two
general opinions: As much as I feel for Tina in "A Fish Called Tina," I don't blame Kaylee for being put off by Tina's desperation. Kaylee could have dealt with the situation better but she's only nine. Kaylee's not particularly unique in that the show has several cowards and shy characters but she's fun. I think that Kaylee and Tina are too much alike which is why they clash at first. However, if they could find a shared passion they'd be perfect nerd friends.
Jessica
character: hate them | don’t really care | like them | LOVE them | THEY ARE MY PRECIOUS
ship with: Harley, Louise, Megan, Millie (crackship)
important friends: Harley, Louise, Megan, Rudy
general opinions: Jessica is great and so is her relationship with Louise. As much as I love platonic Roudise, Jessica is special because she's Louise's equal in cleverness and mischievousness. Jessica may seem bland at first but she's the one who believes in conspiracy theories and gets the best of Louise without appealing to Louise's conscience to the point of saccharine moral lessons. I mean, Hell: Jessica knows how to pick locks, too!
Chelsea
character: hate them | don’t really care | like them | LOVE them | THEY ARE MY PRECIOUS
ship with: No one at the moment
important friends: Louise maybe?
general opinions: I honestly didn't even remember who Chelsea is until I looked her up on the wiki. She's fine, overall. I'd need someone like @babs0987 to give me a reason to like her as an angry, somewhat-bullying one-off character. Despite what it may seem, I don't actually usually like those types of characters, lol. However, if someone passionate enough about Chelsea came along and gave me headcanons and meta, I could be swayed fairly easily.

I asked the ship question for Bob’s Burgers. Sorry, I should have specified.
No worries XD But I recently got an unclear question on another blog and did a whole thing about all kinds of characters and the person was like "I was only talking about the ship" so I figured I would ask XD I'll just copy-paste something from my main blog.
In before: These are just my ships! That doesn't mean anything. Also we still only focus on Zekina on this blog while all other ships are on a lower tear but worth equally! I won't judge any other ships! (except maybe TinaXJayJu bc they are our direct rival ship...)
Of course the OTP is
Zekina (Zeke X Tina):
Tumblr media
But here are two more I really enjoy...
Rudiese (Rudy X Louise): (I'm just a sucker for a leader and their second in command)
Tumblr media
Bob X Linda: (They are just so wholesome. Relationship goals.)
Tumblr media
I'm pretty simple about those things... but let me tell you a bit more.
I really enjoy the idea of Kathleen X Teddy because they were cute. Teddy has to relax a bit about it though.
I also have two crack-pairings for you because I think they would be fun and very chaotic.
Gale X Felix and Duncan X Jocelyn*
Just think about them for a moment. Both of those ships would be either incredible or so, so awful. But either way VERY interesting.
Now, if you wonder if I ship Gene with anyone... not really. I think all candidates for him are interesting: Courtney, Alex, Todd... but I don't actively ship him with any of them. So, he is a wild card.
*I also think Jocelyn X Tammy makes sense but I also think that they won't stay friends after school.

Zekina Wedding Headcanons Because Why Not!
I did a glimpse of a wedding headcanon for this ship in one of my other Zekina posts, but now I want to make it its own thing.
Before I start though. There's a line of dialogue from the episode "So You Stink You Can Dance" that I have been stuck on for a while. I didn't want to make another post for that episode because I already have two. So I'm pairing it with this because it sort of fits the theme. Jimmy Jr.: I know what this is! Tina: Two friends who care about you, and their cousin Leslie. Tina what do you mean "their"?! Leslie isn't your cousin and last I checked, Zeke didn't use they/them pronouns (Not that I'm against him using they/them if the character decides to because that's mean, but I'm just making a point here). Tina could have said "and Zeke's cousin Leslie", "and cousin Leslie", or even just "and Leslie". Either Tina had a Freudian slip moment or Dan Mintz really needed to redo that take so it would stop crazy people like me from overthinking lines like that. XD You don't just involve two people in a sentence and then imply both people have a familial relationship with a third person when it's not the case like that! XD As a self-proclaimed crazy person, I'm taking this as Tina is eventually going to marry Zeke after all so that line can be true and Leslie becomes Tina's cousin-in-law. XD Okay now onto the wedding headcanons 1. Tina and Zeke get married on the beach. (I already said this before but now I'm clarifying it again)
2. They get married on July 28th (it was the day the first zombie movie, "White Zombie" was released. Also, a summer beach wedding seems more fitting than a fall one. The first "Night of the Living Dead" was released on October 1st while the remake was released on the 19th of the same month)
3. Their cake toppers are a tiny, bride mustard bottle and a tiny, groom ketchup bottle (originally wanted to do sea urchin and sea cucumber but condiment bottles fit better in my opinion). The cake is white and blue with yellowish-orange (like American cheese) stars lining the bottom of the layers. I wanted to combine an ocean theme and a burger theme combo for the cake. 4. Bob's Burger of the day for the wedding will be called the "Something Blue" cheeseburger (it was originally the longer version, but he shortened it down when he realized less was more for this one). It's a burger topped with blue cheese, fried zucchini (though Gene insisted to go with the Italian translation, zucchina. Bob didn't really get it at first because he didn't know what ship names were. A whole new world of burger ideas was opened once he got the concept of ship names), and ketchup (because it kind of rhymes "getcha" XD)
5. Since the "something blue" is the burger, here's the rest. Old - Tina's glasses. She inconveniently loses the yellow ones that I gave her in my adult design of her and has no choice but to use her old, thick, black ones. New - The fresh, blue daisies she has in her hair. Borrowed - The barrette Zeke keeps on his ear. He lets her borrow it for bangs to keep them in place. That's right, the yellow thing on my design for adult Zeke wasn't another earring. Instead of barrettecklace, Zeke just clips the thing onto his ear like a clip-on earring. Does it hurt? Maybe. Regardless now you all know that it wasn't another earring but Tina's barrette. 6. Cheryl's kid is the flower girl and Sidecar is the ring bearer. (Though if Cheryl's kid turns out to be a boy then Sidecar is the flower boy and Cheryl's kid is the ring bearer because I thought it be cute and funny.) 7. Louise and Gene share the status as the maids of honor while Dillon and Susmita are bridesmaids. Louise wears a suit, Gene wears a suit-dress combo, and the rest wear dresses. 8. Jimmy Jr., in spite of everything is Zeke's best man while the other groomsmen are Rudy and Leslie. They all wear suits. (Zeke needs another friend just so I can make it even between the bridesmaids and groomsmen lol. open to suggestions for the fourth member. I could do Andy and Ollie and just add Jocelyn to Tina's side but I'm not feeling it for multiple reasons) 9. Zeke, of course, tells the Wagstaff Whaler story like he said he would. Meanwhile, Tina surprises Zeke and everyone (except Louise and Gene) when she provides a stitched-together version of all the moments she wrote about Zeke in her diary in chronological order. It was a very sweet way of showing Zeke the progression of her feelings from when she first meant him to now. Louise and Gene helped her with the idea before the wedding to be sure that it didn't get too spicy and for another Buttloose incident to occur. 10. Gene provides the music for the wedding but I'm having trouble deciding who will sing. For me, it's between Linda, Gayle, Courtney, or Daryl. 11. Zeke takes Tina's last name which represents to Tina that when Zeke first said "he was going to get her" it wasn't to "win her" as if she was an easy trophy but that he was determined enough to do whatever it takes to earn her love no matter how unlikely. 12. Susmita did the best she could juggling being a bridesmaid and wedding photographer. Tina and Zeke appreciate her pictures regardless since they know that she's not an official wedding photographer, she's just really good at taking pictures. Get what you pay for and all that jazz. 13. Zeke and Tina spend their honeymoon sailing and then being marooned on Quippiquisset Island because of boat troubles (and for real this time, for the sake of comedic/dramatic irony. I got the idea from vaguely remembering season 6, episode 1 of the Nanny.). Don't worry the rest of the Belcher family gets the 2 off the island eventually. XD
14. They had lobster at the wedding as well as burgers. Couldn't not let Tina have her fantasy lobster wedding feast. XD Bob wasn't particularly pleased by it but he let it go because it was what Tina wanted in the end. As long as Bob, Gene, or anyone else allergic doesn't eat any of the lobster it should be fine. What the heck, Zeke gets his braised lamb shank too. lol 15. Tina's wedding bouquet would comprise of white gardenias, red roses, and lavenders.
I think 15 is a good number to stop at. Hope you enjoy the headcanons and that it gives you inspiration for later.

AWLRIGHTTT, just a quick reminder that on this day, "bob actually" released ❤️ how do you feel about this special episode?
*sigh*
Well, you asked for this!
This episode means a lot to me. Weird, a silly Valentine's episode from an adult cartoon means more to me than my childhood pet. No joke!
Bob Actually has to be hands down my favourite Bob's Burgers episode ever. Now I feel some of you reading this going: Oh Devil, you only like it because of the ROUDISE! And you would be correct to some degree. However, this episode is so much more than a shipping moment.
I love the storylines throughout the episode, how they all interlink and create an overall message of love and acceptance, and that nothing can stop love. Now I haven't watched Love Actually (SCANDALOUS) but it's probably similar and they have taken inspiration from it for this episode. Putting that aside, it was still the most plotlines we have ever had in a BB episode, and they did it so well. We had Tina's storyline with her diarrhoea and her sky kiss with JJ, Bob and Teddy taking a dance class with 'Hip Hop' teacher Shelly and Flips White Fudge (Funniest side character ever), Gene with Isabella making Chocolate, Dark chocolate. Linda and Miss Selbo, an underrated and quirky pair that we see again in season 13. And of course Louise, Rudy and Chloe Barbash, and how jealous and protective Louise gets over her friend.
All of these storylines were hilarious and balanced the episode out perfectly. OH and how could I forget Speedo Guy and Mermaid-Unicycle Girl!
This was the first episode I ever saw of Bob's so I may look at this episode through Rose-tinted glasses, but I don't care. I still enjoy the episode to this day, and that's all that matters, isn't it? It's a timeless classic.
Of course, Louise and Rudy were a massive part of this, and they were the first ship that I ever drew fanart for. And just for Lols here is my first fanart of them compared to my latest:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2019 - 2024... Crazy right.
These two got me to where I am today! An awesome YouTube channel where I met a ton of amazing people, I literally found some friends for life on there. Some amazing mutuals on here and Insta sharing my passion for these little dweebs. And then finally creating art for others and starting up my own projects. I mean it gets me emotional sometimes...
AND THIS IS ALL BECAUSE OF THAT EPISODE.
So yeah I love Bob Actually... And I have watched it many (20) times, and I will be watching it again tonight.
Thank you for the ask <3

"Bob's Burgers" Season 6 Episode Ranking Rewatch (Long Post)
So, I've been rewatching "Bob's Burgers" from the beginning and ranking the episodes using the spreadsheet that @babsvibes created! If you want to know why I'm doing this or how I view the 1-5 rating scale, you can check out my Season 1 post! If you want to check out any of the other seasons, I've been using the "bob's burgers episode ranking rewatch" tag for all of them.
Now, on to Season 6:
Tumblr media
Average (Mean) Score: 4.47
Mode (Most Common) Ranking: 5
Ranking breakdown: 11 5s; 6 4s; 2 3s
Season as a whole thoughts:
Another really solid season! The thing that I remember standing out to me even as it was originally airing was the number of callbacks to earlier seasons, and especially the first season, with the title (and plot) of "Sexy Dance Healing" and the title of "Sacred Couch". I remember wondering at the time if there was some sort of significance to it (my fear being that maybe the show was preparing to wind down- a lot of my favorite shows ended after 7 seasons). I wonder if maybe the production staff was feeling nostalgic with the 100th episode coming up- or if they just enjoy making callbacks as much as I enjoy spotting them (and making them in my fics)! Either way, it's the thing that stood out the most this season.
Some thoughts on specific episodes (and feel free to ask if you want my thoughts on an episode I didn't comment on):
"Sliding Bobs": Doing the rewatch, I've noticed that I generally enjoy the three-story episodes but I think this my absolute favorite because I love the framing story so much. I honestly find what Linda says to Tina at the end, about the universe being random but sometimes everything lining up and going your way, to be really beautiful and meaningful. I'll take random crap going my way over fate any day.
"The Land Ship": One of the rare episodes from the middle seasons of "Bob's Burgers" where neither the A plot or the B plot interests me. There are some funny bits ( I mean, Mr. Ambrose is in it, so of course there are some funny bits) but overall it's pretty meh in my book.
"The Hauntening": As I mentioned when discussing Season 5, I got to see a clip from the animatic of this when I saw "Bob's Burgers Live" at the Chicago Theater, so that will always make this special to me. Even without that, it would still be one of my favorite Halloween episodes, and I love Boyz 4 Now song and video at the end!
"The Gene and Courtney Show": Another follow up on Season 5, but as I mentioned when discussing "Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl", the rewatch has made me realize that I really love the way Courtney's character and her relationship with Gene developed over the show, and this is a big part of it. Gene's song at the end of the episode is so beautiful! This isn't my favorite Valentine's Day episode (that's next season...) but it's probably in my top 5.
"House of 1,000 Bounces": Bob: "Can pigeons open doors?" Teddy: "Do you mean metaphorically? In the right situation, I suppose." This may be my favorite Teddy line on the show, and the pigeon subplot is absolutely fantastic in my book. But, you're probably expecting me to talk about the Rudy plot, so...I think it's fascinating the range of takes there are on this episode. I've literally seen people list this episode as the reason they ship Louise/Rudy and other people list it as the reason they don't ship it. For me, it isn't either of those things (I was already on board the ship) but I to think it is a good story about their friendship. One of my (many) similarities with Rudy is that as a kid (and honestly, still now) I cried pretty easily. And there were definitely other kids who noticed this and would just try to get me upset because they thought it was funny. So, I love the fact that as soon as Louise realizes how upset Rudy is, she works to fix the situation. She cares that he's upset. I also think it's fascinating to watch "Bridge Over Troubled Rudy" after this one because it almost seems like the show realized they resolved Rudy and Louise's conflict a bit too neatly here and needed to explore that further (several seasons later...). If you want more of my thoughts on the role those episodes played in the evolution of this relationship between two cartoon nine year-olds that I overthink about, you can read my best non-fic piece of "Bob's Burgers" related writing.
"Stand by Gene": I've mentioned before that I love episodes that involve the Belcher kids and a diverse group of their friends going on an adventure, and I think this might be the best of them all. In my mind, it's kind of the Trope-namer, I think of those types of episodes as "Stand by Gene"-episodes (even if "The Belchies" was probably the first one).
"The Hormone-iums": This episode is really one of the two that inspired me to this rewatch! Honestly, I just sort of vaguely remembered its existence and had no clue if I liked it- so if I rated it without rewatching it I probably would've given it a 3 or maybe a 4. But I happened to catch it on TV and realized how freaking funny it is! A wonderful Tina puberty plot; the wine shoe B plot (complete with Louise wearing mouse ears on her bunny ears during their presentation to Calvin and Felix, which is basically the cutest thing ever); great songs; a joke about Tony Danza- this episode has it all, in my book! Definitely a 5; the original sleeper hit.
"Pro-Tiki/Con-Tiki": This is a pretty funny episode. Chris Parnell is a hilarious actor, and as an "Archer" fan it was fun to have him act opposite H. Jon Benjamin in a different role. But I give this one a 3 because I hate the central conflict and the way it is resolved. It's one of the few episodes of the show where the actual plot and its ending really bother me. Warren and Bob are both kind of idiots in this one. Bob has a super-rich friend who is willing to lend him money to help his business, but instead Bob chooses to frequently be on the verge of going broke because of American small business owner macho capitalism self-reliance independence nonsense? Screw that. The other Belchers were right to be mad at Bob for his actions in this episode; he's lucky they forgave him.
"Bye Bye Boo Boo": I love Louise's crush on Boo Boo so much! It is an absolute treat any time it gets brought up! It's one of the few things that completely knocks Louise off her game, and it is wonderful for that. (Also, a pretty accurate portrayal of what it feels like to have a crush, regardless of your age or gender.) Honestly, after Roudise, Louise/Boo Boo might be the Louise ship with the next most appeal to me (do they have a ship name? It has to be "Lou Boo", right?)
"The Horse Rider-er": Did you know that being the voice of Jericho is widely considered to be Paul Rudd's second most iconic role after Peter Klaven in "I Love You, Man"? (It's not, I'm just making a weird joke to amuse myself.)
"Glued, Where's My Bob?": They did a great job for the 100th episode! Honestly, if the show ever gets a planned series finale, I kind of hope the last scene is something similar to the climax of this episode- all our favorite recurring characters hanging out in and around the restaurant and supporting Bob. (Except, maybe it would be for something good, like Bob making a really amazing burger, rather than him being glue to the toilet...)
Random thoughts (stuff that doesn't affect the ratings):
-I wish they had handled the Frond/Gayle relationship a bit better. I actually think they make sense as a couple and I wish they had done more with them before breaking them up off screen. Or, they even could of kept them together (although, I understand the writers thinking it's funnier to have them single.) But at the very least, I wish they could've aired the three episodes that discuss the relationship in an order that makes sense! Why did they air "Gayle Makin' Bob Sled" before "The Cook, the Steve, the Gayle, & Her Lover"? (I mean, probably something to do with Fox's schedule and holidays and football and so forth but it still annoys me.)
-I literally just noticed that the title of the episode is "Gayle Makin' Bob Sled", I'd always read it as "Gayle Making" and thought it was just a straightforward title and now I am realizing it was probably actually supposed to be a pun on the Jamaican bobsled team immortalized in the movie "Cool Runnings" (and discussed by Gene in my favorite Christmas episode "God Rest Ye Merry Gentle-Mannequins"). God, I love the "Bob's Burgers" writing staff and the length they will go for a silly 80s/90s pop culture pun!
See you in Season 7! The post could be up relatively soon, since I've actually completed the rewatch of it, too. (Spoiler: Season 4 might be getting knocked out of first place...)
