Be honest with yourself, are you proud of your actions? Yes. If there’s one good thing going for me it’s that I’m happy with the things I’ve done, overall. I regret few of my actions.

Have you ever had an operation? No, and the thought scares me to be honest. I get uncomfortable with the idea of being put under anaesthesia or being cut open D:

What books do you usually enjoy reading and which do you not enjoy? I enjoy autobiographies. I don’t like the fantasy and epic genres, or anything that has too many fictional or supernatural elements.

What is something that you really want to try, whether it’s a hobby, food, etc.? Baking! I feel like it would be therapeutic for me, so it’s something I want to get into. It’d be awesome to master chocolate chip cookies.

This is what first came to mind, a scene from Idyllwild where Claire is having dinner with Jamie’s immediate family... a family that is stolen from him in canon and I love reinventing in this AU. You can find the whole chapter here. I feel like it really captures their personalities and I just love it.

“Could you pass the dirt pudding, when you get a moment?”

Jamie’s younger brother Rob’s request jerked me out of the proverbial bedroom and back to the dinner at hand.

“The what?” I nearly choked at what he’d called the dessert in front of me, as well as the embarrassment of being caught with my mind in the bedroom and not paying the slightest bit of attention to the conversation around me.

The teen grinned, answering, “Dirt Pudding.”

I picked up the nearly empty bowl — its contents smeared and stirred and smooshed, giving it a rather interesting appearance — and handed it to him.

“Is that a Scottish or American delicacy?”

“American,” Ian piped in as I eyed the cream and chocolate dessert.

“What’s in it?”

“Dirt, Sassenach.” Jamie quipped with a smile, reaching around me and taking the serving spoon from his little brother’s hands. He dolluped a small serving onto my plate as he encouraged, “Try it.”

I nudged him with my foot and he nudged right back, almost smooshing mine beneath his as I tasted the dish. It was very sweet and the crumbs of — what I assumed to be — some sort of chocolate biscuit still held their crunch as it was layered between thick swaths of rich vanilla pudding.

“It’s Oreos,” Jenny explained with a roll of her eyes at her brothers’ antics, “with cream cheese and cool whip.”

“You didn’t put the gummy worms in this time, Mam,” Willie, the eldest, complained with a wink.

Winking must not be an inherited trait, I surmised, for all of Jamie’s siblings seemed to be able to do so with ease, while he could not. It was one of the many, thousands of things that I found endearing about Jamie and the lazy, almost owlish blink he used in its stead never failed to make my heart skip a beat.

“How old are you, Willie Fraser?” his wife Maia chastised him in good fun, “Twenty-nine going on ten?”

Ellen chuckled, “Tha’ sounds about right.”

“Is the s’more stuff here or at Uncle Collum’s?” Rob turned to his father in question, provoking his brothers to join their mother in laughter.

G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

This depends. Idyllwild was started as an exercise in writing out of order and I’ve been writing Metamorphosis out of order for most of its lifetime... I have the ending of “Season One” pretty much already completed, even while I’m still stuck on the next chapter. ;D Stones has pretty much been written in chronological order, as well as my other fics.

M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?

@thefraserwitch and I have a brainchild growing. It’s not really ready to share, but, if you’ve been paying attention, we’ve dropped some hints.

V: If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

So ive been cooking a lot recently and I quite enjoy it. As time consuming or tiring as it can be, its actually quite a welcome and energizing task 95% of the time. I know that because I've eaten probably three bags of it this month — plus one smaller bag of the candy corn's elegant older sister, the pumpkin mellowcreme — and I am still alive today, typing my feelings about candy corn. "ACTUALLY, candy corn is disgusting." —this guy Candy corn is a very real food. A very real GREAT food. If You Don't Like Candy Corn You're A Dumb Idiot Here's why. 1. Its design is an homage to actual corn on the cob, which is delightful. You must love it fiercely for the short time that it is here, because then it's November, and the fall flavors bow out in favor of mint. So you stockpile it. The number of bags you believe will last you the month will last only half, because it's so good, and because you keep sharing. Lots of people like candy corn but won't buy it for themselves because they think it's for kids. So they'll come get it from you. It feels very rewarding to provide people with candy. I get why the Easter Bunny does it. There will come a few moments during the month of October when you will want to give up. Candy corn has an interesting effect on even the strongest of stomachs. 「私の夢は嘘だ」かな。

they say most dreams have no meaning. most dreams are a reanimation of unused thoughts that were never relevant to bring to the conscious mind.

some dreams are an intimate processing and storing of memories.

every once in a while, dreams expose the desires of reality. every once in a while, my dreams really are too good to be true.

i woke up quite literally only 10 minutes ago, but my dream is so compelling that it drove me to write.

the first dream i had, i was with my girlfriend in my kitchen. an exact replica of my kitchen, which is reasonable considering how often im there. she was cooking something. i believe it had legumes in it.

“i like legumes in some instances but it isnt my favorite”

i said. i dont believe there was anything in between, but time skipped forward and suddenly the air turned very dark and aggressive. my girlfriend stormed out of the kitchen and came back in, saying

“im finally going to tell it to your face.”

before she said the words, i knew what she was talking about and stayed quiet.

“every single day! 'why do you clean? why are you messy? why did you wake up late? why did you wake up early? why do you eat away from your family?' why why why?”

“we have different values, and thats fine! why are you always questioning me?”

she was enraged and her face was red. before i could respond, i woke up by accident. i couldnt finish it.

but in an effort to finish that dream, i fell back asleep and began a new dream. the content was relative because i was trying to dream a similar dream.

i was with my girlfriend and my family at an amusement park. the beginning was fuzzy, but i believe there were scheduling conflicts and we were late to several events because it was raining and each of us kept having to go back and purchase raingear.

we go to a restaurant and give up on the amusement park. im very despondant and i dont recall ever talking to anyone.

my girlfriend notices, and excuses us so that we can both go outside. she takes my hand and guides me out.

outside, we walk for a few minutes. she says

“we dont have to go back to the park. they told us we're staying here and then going home.”

“are you ok?”

i look at her and smile small. my girlfriend then hugs both arms around me and i do the same while we walk. its quiet, but the embrace means so much to me.

she then disappears into a small shop and buys a bag of chocolate pretzels with oreo bits mixed in with regular pretzles (if only those were real, it sounds good). we share the bag and she gets me to smile more, wrapping an arm back around me.

the dream ended with me talking about how i used to love taking giant pretzels and dipping them in cheese and mustard.

so, what do these two dreams mean to me?

dream #1 i believe is a recollection of feelings and conversations ive been having for the past few days. they havent been lighthearted by any means.

perhaps the most outstanding thing to point out is that my girlfriend would never react that way, at least i dont believe so. she hates criticism towards herself and anyone. i, however, value it in small doses as it keeps me in check. im not perfect. i need to fix things. sometimes, criticism is constructive and helps me rethink and solve. my girlfriend isnt that type of person and will never be giving me any sort of criticism. the very fact that my girlfriend in this dream became enraged and attacked me is a very extreme version of my mind reciprocating for what i want so badly.

i break myself enough. sometimes it provides relief for another person to break me instead.

but my girlfriend isnt that kind of person. i think its for the best that she isnt.

dream #2 is similar motive if i point out to myself that unfortunately, i dont think my girlfriend would react in the exact fashion she did if it would actually happen.

ive revealed to her that i wasnt feeling well in person before, and an embrace almost never follows if i dont prompt it. i know she cares a lot about me, but her first reaction is never physical. she isnt a physical person, while i am. she also will almost never ask if im 'ok', which is way more confrontational than 'how are you?'. she isnt a confrontational person, which is fine also. im aware of it.

i suppose what im understanding from both dreams is that they are an attempt to fulfill my wants and needs that sometimes are neglected in real life. it is my job to prompt and ask for things, so it is also my fault that my needs are unmet because i never ask properly. we are different people, and i need to be compromising by prompting directly. im such a fool. i never remember this until its too late.
