Your characters are in a zombie apocalypse. They've already secured food and weapons and a safe zone and everything is going good, so now they can actually think about what to go out and retrieve that will be a fun thing or just something they specifically want to get to enrich their lives. I know that Guzma would put the kids first, but AFTER doing nice shit for them and if Plumeria basically forces him to go get whatever is the thing he wants for himself, what would he get? And what would Plumeria and Leon get?
Oh! Oh! I've got it!!!!
Guzma:
Surprising many people, Guzma would get himself some sick new threads. Although, when ya think about it, it's not that surprising; he's a show off! His light hair and skin plus absurd height and stature that always turned heads (and once felt like a curse) he now gladly uses to fill his ego. And it doesn't have to be expensive shit, just anything that looks good; anything from suits to street wear. Plus, the way he sees it, surviving a zombie apocalypse don't mean he can't look fine as hell! What was that video game where you're fighting zombies in a mall? Dead Rising, I think? Yeah, just imagine that but it's Guz trying on awesome clothes while seamlessly beating zombies down with a lead pipe when they interrupt him.
(ZZ Top's Sharp Dressed Man playing over the montage of Guz ransacking various department stores)
***Plums and Lee under cut***
Plumeria:
Plums would compile a massive collection of books and other physical media like CDs and DVDs. The preservation of both culture and knowledge is important in a zombie apocalypse! Plus, she gonna need some sort of entertainment to survive safe house life with these numbskulls. Plus plus, those who control the flow of knowledge, control everything. (Not as nefarious as it sounds, at least in her hands)
(Beyoncé's Run the World plays during the montage of her delegating groups of grunts to gather and organize all her spoils)
Leon:
Very little known fact about Leon... he's a major car guy. He doesn't know a ton of technical knowledge about them aside from what can be transferred over about tractor maintenance, but we all know Leon's a fast learner and, if he puts his mind to something, he gives it 120%. But, "why does he have such a fascination with cars", you may ask. Maybe it's just because he grew up in such a rural area or maybe it's from watching hours and hours of Unovan action films, bored, cooped up in the various hotel rooms he frequented in his early days in the league. Maybe it has something to do with how he absolutely loves the thrill of riding Charizard at breakneck speeds. Or, maybe he just thinks they look cool as fuck and that they'll make him look cool as fuck too. Hell, he thought he was gonna drool on himself the first time he saw Guzma on his chopper! But, long story short, he gets himself a car that is fast, strong, and sexy. Yessir, Leon finds and mods himself what is essentially the post-apocalyptic, zombie-killing version of the beloved poekani "carizard".
(His montage music for finding and working on the car is Ginuwine's Pony no I do not take constructive criticism)

Let's talk about the genius of music in OFMD once again, today in s2e1:
Strawberry Letter 23 begins as Ed appears as "the Devil" on board the wedding vessel. We know the scene well. His crew slays the wedding party in a seemingly heartless fashion, followed by a short montage of previous violent raids.
Tumblr media
But let's back up to what comes before this scene:
Tumblr media
We see Stede on the beach throwing a letter in a bottle out to sea, all while we hear Stede narrating this letter aloud. It's very clearly a love letter, and Stede says he's sent quite a few letters before this one.
This scene immediately moves into the shot of Blackbeard's new flag with the broken heart, which clearly communicates a message of heartbreak.
Tumblr media
Followed by Ed's new tattoo, also very clearly communicating a message (a letter in its own right).
Tumblr media
We see the exchange return to Stede, where he kisses the damn bottle as he throws it out to the ocean.
Tumblr media
Then we move to the wedding boat, where a priest is reading aloud part of the wedding ceremony. That's when Blackbeard's crew jumps on with an OBJECTION.
As Ed says, "Demon? I'm the fuckin' devil" - Strawberry Letter 23 begins playing.
Tumblr media
It's interesting, because in the full song, the lyrics that should indicate the name of the song are Strawberry Letter 22 - NOT 23. So I went on ye ole Wikipedia to see what's up with that:
Tumblr media
It's about a couple exchanging love letters.
Ed's wedding massacre is his letter number 23, in response to Stede's letter.
The lyrics are so spot on. David Jenkins, how do you do it?!
“Hello my love, I heard a kiss from you.
Ed is thinking back to the first kiss he and Stede shared on the beach - and this is coupled with the kiss Stede gave the message in the bottle before he threw it. This lyric plays as Ed picks up the Stede cake topper.
Tumblr media
Red magic satin playing near, too.
Ed is thinking back to the fine things fabric he carries for so long, the fabric Stede so tenderly folded and placed in Ed's pocket. This lyric plays as a different red magic satin - blood - sprays violently as people are killed.
Tumblr media
All through the morning rain I gaze, the sun doesn’t shine. / Rainbows and waterfalls run through my mind.”
This is breakup Ed at his peak. Sadness, depression, tears flowing. But also the moments where Ed allows himself to enjoy softness and fine things. We see Ed licking icing from his knife in a moment of peace amid the chaos around him.
Tumblr media
Ed's letter number 23 is such a stark contrast to Stede's letter number 22. It's heartbreaking and oh so brilliant.
I remain indebted to David Jenkins. The gift of this show is tremendous!!!

Back with a request but not Agere :0 I know mad I have one of those to send next so don’t fret my love and how is your day going? Remember you’re so loved
Prompt~ so I feel like an angsty Larissa x reader fic based off the song “ceilings- Lizzy McApline” would be perfect. It goes on about how they wish to be with someone yet it’s not a real opportunity. They can’t be with them for some reason. I feel you could write that beautifully ~ shy anon🕊️
Lonely dreams
Larissa Weems x reader
Tumblr media
A/n: im hanging in there babes, it’s lovely to see you here like always, I hope you enjoy. Idk how to do songlyric fics so I won’t cuz scary but I’ve actually had vivid daydreams about this song and this is how it goes. Requests are open
Warning: fluff, loss, grief.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
You had the perfect life. Everything you’ve ever dreamt of came true for you. Your dream job, the love of your life, that easy going, calm, day to day and you’ve always craved, you finally had it.
A safe routine that repeated every day, you and Larissa worked and lived together like you always wished. You’d wake up every morning with littered kisses all over your face, making you giggle and pout. Making breakfast together was probably the best part of your day, you and Larissa together in a spacious kitchen with everything you could possibly need for the perfect meal, it felt like those love story movies, when they’d show those baking montages filled with laughs and attacking eachother with food.
Walking hand in hand through the hallways made you feel so confident, having Larissa Weems proudly showing you to the world. She walked you to your class with a kiss on the very tip of your nose, making you giggle and turn away to compose yourself before you had to start class.
“I will see you at lunch, my love.” Something made you want to pull her back, to stop her from walking away and give you just another kiss. But you didn’t, instead letting her go, “Have a good day, Issa” you said, before running off to start class.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
You had this unsettling feeling running through your bones the whole morning, but it all went away when you met Larissa for lunch. Routine. Just like always, your pre-packed lunch that you made together the afternoon before, a conversation filled lunch or maybe just enjoying eachother in silence. A second to just breathe and be, you hugged and kissed so softly, so sweetly you never wanted to go back. It was a movie, it was your perfect life.
And the day went on, you’d come back to her office after class was over and wait the two hours she stayed extra working after you. You mostly bugged her to get out of the office and come home with you, occasionally you’d poke her for attention and get a quick kiss which made you feel giddy all over and sedated you for another few minutes before you inevitably poked her again.
You were resting against Larissa’s shoulder when she closed the computer and looked your way, a sweet smile on her face. “Okay darling, we can go now.”
Larissa’s warm and dazzling smile, was the most comforting thing on this planet, you couldn’t love anything more. It was contagious, whenever she smiled you couldn’t help but follow.
Tonight you’d order take out, every week twice a week, Routine. You’d always pick something new to try for the first time together, and you’d sit together on the couch with nothing but music playing in the background, the second you were done eating you were always the first to fall asleep.
Shuffling down to get confortable as you nuzzled into her chest with a pleased sigh, you could hear her calm heart beat, how her chest lightly moved up and down with every relaxed breath. Your perfect girl, the perfect movie life.
But you woke up, and it was over. The fresh memory of her funeral as if it had been just yesterday. A year, a whole year. And your mind refused to give in to the idea, that was it. She’s gone forever.
There was no such thing as her soft lips waking you up every morning, you didn’t laugh and dance every morning with breakfast, you walked alone through the halls of this now so monotone school, you ate lunch at your desk with nobody but yourself, and you went straight home after school. Losing yourself in daydreams of seeing her again, until you cried yourself to sleep, all to repeat again the next day, routine.
You were harshly slapped by reality each morning. You woke up. And that was it, the end of your perfect movie.

A Comprehensive List of my Thoughts on Elemental (STILL WITH SPOILERS!)
So here's the rundown I promised of my feelings toward Elemental
SPOILERS BELOW PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
The Good
The music--I found it memorable and unique; the main theme had soft vocalizations that felt almost ethereal, like it was an ancient hymn. I also found the song that played during the montage of Ember and Wade's dates catchy and fun. It was pretty great soundtrack imho.
The design of the world--I really loved how they creators took into account how all these different elements would move and interact in the city. It made the setting feel, for lack of a better term, more "real" to me. It also set up some of Ember's conflict as a Fire element living in a city that wasn't made with her people in mind.
The designs of (most of*) the characters--for the most part, the characters looked unique and, even better, they looked like average people (for lack of a better term) to me; call me a sap or whatever, but I've always preferred characters that have all the "flaws" of average folks than the ones that look like some iteration of "perfect," they just feel more relatable to me I guess. I also found it fun to see how design features such as "hair" were incorporated in the characters and how those same features varied between the elements. If there's one thing I can consistantly praise Pixar for it's for not being afraid to play around with design.
The animation---I loved how the characters moved and interacted in the world. The felt like living things and I appreciated that.
Wade and Ember are adults implied to be in their mid-to-late 20s--This is probably just a me thing, but I find it nice when I see shows where the protagonists aren't adolescents or barely-18 young adults going through some sort of coming-of-age scenario; there's nothing wrong with those kinds of stories of course, I just find them a bit boring and over-done myself. That and whenever I see films like that it always feels like they're insinuating that people over XYZ age can't be protagonists, so I tend to avoid them these days. On a related note, here are some other reasons why I like that Ember and Wade are adults: a) They both still live with their parents but neither of them is shamed or mocked for it--I've seen waaaay too many "comedies" that pick fun at the "25-year-old-living-in-their-mom's-basement" so I found it nice to not have to sit through that kind of "joke" again, b) Neither of them have got their lives "figured out" yet--Wade's gone through multiple jobs, and Ember's just begun to understand what she actually wants for her life--as someone who's gone through multiple jobs, earned 2 bachelor's degrees and is in the process of getting a master’s, and is still trying to make sense of their life, I found their struggles extremely relatable; it's nice to see adult protagonists be allowed to struggle with figuring out who they are and what they want to be, c) They're allowed to have fun and goof off--in a lot of films I've seen, the adult characters are always depicted as being so serious and "boring" it's nice to see adult characters actually have fun and enjoy life.
Ember' relationship with her parents, specifically her father--I found the interactions they had very sweet and moving; it made Ember's conflict between choosing to take over her father's shop or pursue her romance with Wade all the more relatable, imo.
How Ember and Wade's romance developed--it wasn't a love-at-first-sight kind of thing; they actually had to spend time interacting and getting to know each other before they fell in love--and most importantly, they showed us on the actual screen how/when they started to fall for each other. They went on dates, opened up to each other, fought with each other, etc--all the things that normal relationships have; while sure, there's still an aspect of "forbidden romance" to their relationship, it's more subtle and in the background than the trailers implied it would be. It also doesn't end with marriage and kids--they leave together for Ember’s internship and it’s implied that they’ve moved in together but that’s all; idk I thought it was nice that they could just be a couple.
The Bad
1. The blink-and-miss representation LGBTQ+ representation--I've gotten reeeeeeaaaally tired of how LGBTQ+ characters are treated in films; to clarify, there's a scene where Wade introduces Ember to his family and he introduces her to his youngest sibling, Lake (who is described as being nonbinary in supplemental materials) and her/them girlfriend, Ghibli. Lake's identity as nonbinary is a bit ambiguous in the film (Wade does refer to them as his youngest sibling, but that's all we get--without the tie-in material it's to mistake them for being WLW). Further, between them Lake and Ghibli have at most 2-3 lines in the entire movie--like I appreciate that us LGBTQ+ are being recognized and put in films, but I'm tired of all our rep always being the side characters that hold no weight in the story; I think they can start making shows with LGBTQ+ leads now, thank you.
2. Wade's fake death--I'm not a fan of having characters (and the audience) go through huge, life-changing events only to have the events "fixed" and everything be all hunky-dory again--imo, it's a cheap trick to manipulate the audiences' emotions at best, and at worst, it's a disrespectful act that not-to subtly implies that the audience "can't handle" seeing the characters go through heavy stuff. I'm a firm believer that if you're going to have your characters go through something as serious as having one die on screen you need to commit to it--you need to take it seriously, pulling a 180 and undoing all that development is cliche to the point of annoyance. Now, I'm not saying I wanted Wade to die, I'm not even saying that I think he should have stayed dead--what I'm saying is that I don't think there should have ever been a "death" scene in the film at all--there are plenty of other ways they could have had Ember realize her feelings for Wade/be honest with her father.
Mixed Feelings Section
1. Ember and Wade's designs*--it's not that they're terrible or anything, but they are a bit generic imo. In comparison to their family members and the background characters, they both have that "typical protagonist" look that I find a bit cliche
2. Wade's family being 'good' rich people who don't mind that Wade's in love with Ember vs Ember's father who spends most of the film being aggressively anti-water--I'm kind on the fence with this tbh; on the one hand, if both sides had been against Ember and Wade's relationship, I feel it would have put too much emphasis on the romance and taken away Ember's story as the child of immigrants, and it's not like Wade's family weren't bigoted at all--they threw plenty of micro-aggressions at Ember when she first met them; that being said I do have to side-eye how they made the ones more accepting of fire people Wade's rich, probably-descendents-of-the-founders-of-Element-City family and made the one most aggressively against water people Ember's immigrant-built-his-family-a-home-and-business-from-scratch father. Idk, it feels iffy to me.
3. Most of the Wade and Ember's interactions takes place within a week--As much as I felt that their romance was pretty well-paced, I can't deny that they still fell for each other very quickly--I get that the main plot point had set it up that they only had a week to fix the broken water-spill doors, but I don't know why it had to be a week; why couldn't it have been a couple of weeks or a month? It would have made a lot more sense both for the romance and the main plot, but I digress, I still found their relationship adorable.
4. The experiences of immigrants is homogenized--The culture of the fire people draws on a lot of different types of immigrants, the Irish, different Asiatic groups, maybe some Middle Eastern groups, etc--and while I appreciate that the story was about immigrants and experiences they share in common I also felt a bit iffy about taking all these different cultures and merging them together. I feel it would have been better they made the fire people's culture more of a unique entity than a combination of cultures.
Like I said before, I highly recommend this movie; it's cute and tugs at your heart-strings.

Last Monday of the Week 2024-07-22
There are many upsides to the city in the summer. But there's also the horrors.
Listening: I am (I think) almost but not quite done with Paradise Killer, a first-person detective game set on the extradimensional luxury island headquarters of an eldritch cult with a truly incredible soundtrack. A mix of city pop and vaporwave that really goes hard if you love the sound of the perfect imagined city. Here's "Knife and Crystal"
The entire Paradise Killer soundtrack is great, and in game each song has a little snippet of text to go with it, this one's is
The heat helps cook mysteries. People get weird in the heat. They get dangerous. Dangerous people create mysteries.
I'll write this up probably separately and it'll go in next week's monday, since I haven't called the trial yet and still have some snooping to do, but it really is a fantastic game. Try it, if you have the time, I got most of the way through it in about 8 hours.
This music sounds like a perfect summer day in the city we all wish we could be in, where there are exactly as many people around as you want, and you always stumble into what you need.
As a note, I think it is an interesting comparison to the Marielda soundtrack, which feels to me like a very different kind of summer city, a languorous city on the edge, an, overwhelmingly hot city, with only a few afternoon thunderstorms and passing clouds to break an almost oppressive heat. So you know, where I am now. I'll link the title song here too:
I mean the podcast helps sell it, but this would also fit into uh. The spanish civil war? Clarinet is like that sometimes.
God damn I have opinions on city-esque music huh.
Reading: Had a bit of a slump coming off of The Traitor Baru Cormorant but I finally picked up Monster and was immediately blindsided by the perspective change. Very interesting. The letter Baru receives from one of the other cryptarchs is making me go insane.
Watching: Movie night this week was RRR, which I have seen a couple times already but did get the joy of watching with some friends who had not seen it at all. There is so much going on, it turns out if you run out of making one movie you can just pivot to making another movie with the same guys and if you do that for long enough you have a three hour feature film.
RRR has lots of subtlety that can be debated but it is also so much fun to watch. It is up front and largely unironic in a way that is very refreshing because it is also done well. There are a lot of bad movies that are unironic and unfortunately that mostly hurts them because they can't deliver on their earnestness.
The thing that really stands out is that it knows how to hold a shot well. So many scenes in the movie just go on forever, whether that's the extended BFF montage or the torture scenes or the slow motion action, it just holds a shot in a way that feels obnoxious at times.
It helps that they're both impossibly hot.
Playing: I picked up a couple VR games in the steam sale to try and expands my horizons. One of those is The Utility Room, a fairly old VR experience based on a VR museum that's even older. Its age shows, it lacks a lot of the creature comforts of more modern games, but it is clever. It uses VR to put you in huge spaces in proximity to enormous objects that move way faster than anything like that does regularly for most people. It's a fun little experiment.
Also got Half Life: Alyx which I am really enjoying, I just got to the part where you get the flashlight which I assume means I'm about to get sosososo scared. VR so dramatically changes the way you think about interaction especially in games. Most obviously, this is a shooter, but in a normal shooter you shoot things by putting them in the middle of the screen and pressing "shoot" and then some HP is deducted. Here I am reminded that even when I handle real pistols I have a bad habit of raising the barrel a few degrees too high and I have to compensate for that. You have to fumble with magazines and rack the slide in the heat of panicked combat where you feel very much like a headcrab is about to tear your face off. It's great.
You also get the sheer physicality of the environment. Valve did not skimp on this game, it's not a little demo or a toy, it's a whole-ass game, and they made sure that almost anything reasonable you can think to do works. You just reach out, you can move barrels by grabbing the rim and rolling them, you can open boxes, you can smash crates. You have a really smart gravity grabber system that makes interacting with the environment less arduous, and some very intelligent use of the fact that you have to switch what's in your hand to make you feel endangered any time you have to put your pistol away to hack a circuit or move an object.
Making: Disastrous burfee making misadventure when a friend said she had been wanting to make burfee and I invited her over. Got mixed up while trying to host and cook simultaneously and didn't boil the syrup long enough, resulting in liquid burfee that did not ever set up into something usable. Salvaged haphazardly with some dessicated coconut to form a structural mesh, but it was not good. Syrup is the most important and least fixable part of a burfee recipe, you really just have to learn to eyeball it to make sure it's right before you continue. Learn from my mistake. Make sure your bubbles are stacking to know you've driven off enough water.
Tools and Equipment: Thin, fine cotton sheets are a great way to avoid messing up pillows if you aren't able to wash your hair as regularly as you'd like, or if you just don't like generic grease build-up. You can keep so many of them on hand and toss them in for washing every couple days.
I didn't have hot water this week because of the annual maintenance cycle, so. You know.

PMK DVD Booklet Interviews 6
Here’s the last part of the PMK Omou Michi DVD booklet interview series. It also includes a final word from Nanae Chrono himself! Thanks one final time to @/pmkloveadmin and their kind friend yuunsoba who provided the raws for these interviews! Please enjoy!
THE JETZEJOHNSON (Theme Song)
Please tell us your genuine first impression when you were told you’d be in charge of the theme song for this work.
It’s THE JETZEJOHNSON’s Kojima here. Since I’m a fan who enjoyed the original work, I picked it up right away when I received the request. I’m very honored. The request was for “a ballad with English poetry”, with scenes from the original work appearing as a flashback montage. It was a really happy production time for a fan, since I got to create the song and lyrics while imagining what scenes and whose point of view to write from. As an aside, my biggest favorites are Tatsu-nii, followed by Yamazaki and Hijikata(-sama). I’m so sorry.
What did you have in mind when making the music? Did you stick with your initial concepts? Please tell us if you had any difficulties or points that you paid extra attention to.
After getting the request, I decided on the concept for the world of the lyrics immediately. After that, I decided on the point of view. The song is based on “a certain word” which can apply to any character, and I focused on creating “a feeling which is interchangeable for anyone”. The first part overflowed with big hopes, dreams and ambitions, so this is a song in which we – or the characters – can look back on the “beauty”, “ephemerality” and “glitter” that made up their beliefs. The main character of this song is watching the slow fall of the world by themselves from the dirt of a castle somewhere. Past that red-stained horizon, it’s easy to imagine all of the friends who ran together with them. I think that scenery is very ephemeral and precious.
Please let us know if there are any particular parts of the song that you want us to pay attention to.
The title means “rust”. These characters are just running through the end of the Tokugawa period, one of the greatest periods of unrest in our history, without seeking the “right answer” – just valuing their own beliefs. The song’s main character is looking at the setting sun and asking, “what was the right answer?” And their “technique is rusting”. What do they see when they hold their sword in their hand, when that sword and their skills are no longer needed by the times? We’ll see the answer to that for all of them in this movie.
Finally, please leave a message for the fans who watch this series.
The song “Rust” by THE JETZEJOHNSON will be released after screening. Please check it out at your local shop or online distributor! If you listen to the song and then watch the movie again, you might see it in a different light. On top of that, I made this not only with this first part of the movies in mind, but also drew ties with the currently ongoing Hokujou Arc. It’ll be great to listen to this as background music while re-reading the original, now that you’ve seen the film. Finally, I’m a big fan of Tatsu-nii (the gun is mightier than the sword), but please listen to the song not just imagining Tatsu-nii’s perspective, but also Tetsunosuke and Hijikata(-sama).You might see a different point of view. Especially with Hijikata’s POV, it warps to Goryokaku… No, never mind. Well then, please watch part one to the end!
Ryosuke Nakanishi (Music)
Please tell us your genuine first impressions when you heard you would be in charge of the music for the Peacemaker Kurogane movies.
I was really honored and happy! There are a lot of gadgets with a lot of general purpose that we use when making music for TV animation, so I was a little nervous and worried about carefully expressing the scenery and emotions of each scene for the movie versions. But when I was shown the dynamic storyboard and script for the opening scene, my anxieties melted away and I was more and more inspired. I remember learning about the end of the Edo period as a child in school. I felt that I really wanted to express the chaos, hope and feelings of the characters as well as possible.
Due to the series being set at the end of the Tokugawa period, the music likely differs from modern music. Did you have any troubles with this? Also, do you have any favorite music you’d like to share?
This was my first time composing music for shamisen. To really nail it, I listened to a lot of songs performed in the kabuki and geisha districts between the Edo and Meiji periods. It was interesting to learn how many love songs were sang in the geisha districts at the end of the Edo period, which is when the story takes place. Up to now, I only managed to capture the mood of traditional instruments, but this time I had a great opportunity to study them seriously. I had the idea of wanting to express love with just Japanese scales and instruments, so please enjoy it in the movie.
What requests did you receive from the director?
I received orders to act freely and not get too hung up on the idea of making it super Japanese. Of course, I pulled away from Japanese music a bit while making it, but I think I managed to incorporate various phrases and instruments into other songs without getting trapped by genre.
Finally, please leave a message for the fans who watch this series.
I tried very hard not to be defeated by the lively characters on screen and their delicate, swaying emotions. Please go to the theater and have fun!!
WORD FROM THE MANGAKA, NANAE CHRONO
When I received the offer for a Pisume re-animation, it was around the time I was getting serialization back on track. For me, I was just drawing in the hopes of getting old readers to come back and forgive the follies of the past, so my immediate strong thoughts were, “huh!? Are you going to make this into an anime now?! Will people even watch it?!”, which I felt more strongly than anyone. To be honest, all I could think about was the negative idea that “this will definitely fail…”
But as I got to know the enthusiastic people on the production committee and the technical capabilities of WHITEFOX, and learned more about the specific compositions planned, my feelings began to change. They went from “I’m thankful but mostly I’m just sorry” to “this is seriously a great honor, I’ll give it my all, too”. In the past, I pushed onward with a sense of obligation. But now that I’m involved in the main production, the exhilarating feeling I have gives me more of a sense of purpose, so it seems more like an exciting mission.
It’s another TV anime that was broadcast long ago. All of the voice actors who took care of us during the drama CD have a chance to reunite now, and I can’t wait for the movie’s release! There are the character drawings, the movement of it all – not only the voice acting, but everything from the accessory designs to the backgrounds are really wonderful, so I would love it if you watched it again and again!
Even though this is just a shounen manga drawn by an inexperienced person who isn’t super familiar with history, it’s a great honor to release a new animation in the year of the 150th anniversary of the Meiji Restoration, which borrows the names and parts of the lives of people who actually existed. I’m grateful from the bottom of my heart. Please watch the second part of the movies, too. Thank you for reading this far.

HSM (2006) rewatch pt 5
5: Audition time!
The ad cuts are taking me out hahaha
We see Sharpay give Darbus some sort of gift, we can guess she’s one of those students where the teachers think she’s the most loveliest thing on the planet but to other students she’s a nightmare
Ah, the first of the classic silly Chad shirts – “I come with my own background music”. How much time does he spend picking these out? And the watches from earlier?? If you think about it the only other guy with an outfit quirk is Ryan- /shot
Chad you’re a terrible spy
Obsessed with this kid who can’t speak because otherwise they’d have to pay the extra more. They actually try to dub over with a voice but it’s so faint it's not even subbed, looks like this kid just randomly grabs Chad’s hand to greet him it’s so funny, but Chad is just like “Oh, hi! :D”. Actually I am now proclaiming this guy is mute.
There’s an auto shop in this school???? So apparently some schools with a focus on trades do have these, huh pretty cool
Tumblr media
I love Kelsi’s fit. It’s just so her <3
The first girl is me when I try to sing
Girl with the pink flower's singing skills are about right for the plays I did tbh, it was a small thing in a church hall and not a single one of us kids were actually good at it. But it was fun!
Hey what was with the 2000s and thinking bad opera singing was the height of comedy? We’re only missing their glasses breaking
Darbus: What... courage! To pursue a note that has... not been accessed in the natural world! Bravo, uh, brava! Darbus: Perhaps the spring musicale?
SAVAGE. Also, spring musicale? SO THERE IS A SPRING ONE. WHEN?? If you’re doing AUDITIONS for the winter one in JANUARY, when is the spring one supposed to be??
Mad respect to this ballet guy. Maybe they let him join the ensemble? This reminds me, I caught Billy Elliott on TV the other day and I'm planning on watching Jump In soon, I'm just watching the same old themes this month huh
Darbus: Well that was just... very disturbing. Go see a counsellor
HELLO??? 😭😭😭 I mean I see they were going for the originality points and tried to do some interpretative dance, honestly it’s not too far from GCSE drama productions that always seem to have something to do with peer pressure, drugs or a car crash lmao
Reaction montage because same:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OK now that Gabriella’s here I want to point out that Troy did actually come here of his own accord, of course he’d hoped Gabriella would be there as he was checking the audition sheet earlier, but I see this as being an “it’s less scary if it’s the two of us” thing, rather than him only being interested in the musical because of Gabriella. Sure, she sparked his curiosity as he realised how much he enjoyed the karaoke singing, but once he got to the theatre he wasn’t looking around searching for her - I think due to the sequels where Gabriella has to convince Troy to do the performance and he’s all reluctant at first, we kind of forget that initially, he was the one to take the first step, even if he’s too scared to actually audition here. I kind of wish they’d kept this and progressed it into the sequels so he’s more confident with his love of theatre going forward, but instead they keep repeating the whole “ahhhh I don’t sing” thing.
Gabriella: So you decided to sign up for something? Troy: Uh... no. You? Gabriella: No...
Hahaha Troy and Gabriella are basically like “No I won’t do it uh, unless you wanted to”
Tumblr media
Haha, little callback to when she asked him why he's whispering and he said his friends don't know about the singing thing.
Tumblr media
RYAN DID THAT CARTWHEEL ONE HANDED??? KING!!!!
Okay Sharpay and Ryan’s version of What I’ve Been Looking For is more fun than Kelsi’s original for sure, but look Kelsi wrote the song that way for a reason – it probably fits the vibe of the scene and the emotions of the characters at that point in the story. So to see your vision ignored, and your song reworked without consulting you, that’s a pretty big insult for an artist. Like, that’s her song! Her creation! Also Sharpay and Ryan don't have the chemistry for the roles for obvious reasons, and their choreography can be a bit… idk... literal? At the line “that you were always there beside me” they often look at each other like “Oh! Haha there you are!” which is a bit of a shallow interpretation of the song imo. Like I get their limitation because they’re siblings, but that’s just showbiz you can’t expect to fit every single main role you audition for? Anyway it’s B tier for me, catchy enough but nothing show-stopping.
I like how there’s little hints at conflicts between the two though, like Sharpay stopping Ryan so she can walk out first, bumping into him during the number and her telling him not to do the jazz squares but Ryan doing it anyway. He’s not completely subservient to her.
Tumblr media
Sharpay is so mean to Kelsi and y’all wanna say she was the victim here? She’s an elitist that doesn’t encourage new talent or cooperation, she just likes to be on top.
Gabriella: I'd like to audition, Ms Darbus!
I feel like they could have portrayed Gabriella’s motivations a bit better because they’re a tad unclear for me – with Troy we had scenes about his conflict and we can see he’s genuinely curious about singing on stage, but Gabriella seemed pretty certain she didn’t want to do anything like that right at the start of the year, plus she’s got major stage fright. So what exactly got her to go to the audition? Did she guess Troy would be there? If anyone's got any thoughts or meta on that I'd love to hear it
Tumblr media
Troy is so kind to Kelsi aw, taking the time to boost her confidence. It’s not like he knew she’d play them the music, he genuinely just saw someone being mistreated and wanted to boost them up. In the novelisation, Kelsi is freaking out because THE Troy Bolton is talking to her and turns out he's just a nice sweet guy who doesn't think he's above everyone else, it's sweet.
OK I know people laugh at them being able to sightread here, but they already heard how the tune goes as they saw Sharpay and Ryan’s audition, and this is essentially just the same thing slowed down, with some prompts from Kelsi. It’s not thaaaaat farfetched.
So for Troy and Gabriella’s version of the song? I’m sure this version suits that part of the musical more, they have great chemistry when singing it and they can sing well, so I can see why Darbus would consider them. It’s just that in my personal rankings I wouldn’t really listen to this so it’s C tier, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. The song does exactly what it needs to do at this point in the story.
Aw Kelsi’s so excited! Even inviting them to her house for breakfast practice ^^

Fic Rec: Fan Edits/Vines as Players
I know that I haven’t posted a fic rec for a while (I work on a mega fic rec at the moment, but between school and exams I don’t have much time or energy). But I thought I would do something different right now. I don’t know if it would be the most entertaining or comfortable, however that’s the best I could manage with the limitation of this site.
In general I think that there are so many tallented people on this site, and I am a big fan of seeing what people come up with. When it comes to hockey edits I salute my hat every single time. You need to think about the perfect song, the footage to pick from, think of the nerative. So, in order to show my appriciation, and to tell you some of my too detaled thoughts about it, I present to you this fic rec.
I put a link to every one of the videos, but in order to put them all in this one long post I didn’t use reblog. I hope that you still enter the links and read what I had to say about them.
enjoy!
General
-When you touch me like this
What can I say, sometimes you just want to see players beating the shit out of each other while a romantic song is played in the background. Other than that, I love the disonance between the song and the vibe of it and the visual content. It crack me every time.
-Nhl as Vines
I just love how people have the time and energy to think about those sorts of compilations. There are a few good ones in here, but if I have to choose the highlight one it would be the TK/Nolan Patrick one.
-Mine
This is just plain cute and fluffy. It got a number of pairs with cute moments with the song “mine” in the background.
-Vine compilations part 2
Once again, there are some good ones in here, in the highlight I would put the Quinn Hughes one the the FCC line one.
-Vine compilations part 1
This is also really good.
-Hockey Players being in Love with Each Other
It’s basically what the headline says.
-Yet another NHL vines
This one as well has some good stuff in it.
-I like Big Boys
This was the first ever edit about the song that I have seen. And I’ve rewatched it a thounsand of times.
-Bad Blood
This is the way to advertize the league.
-Total eclipse of the heart
I always liked bloopers reels. (when I was young they used to show those clips in so many birthday parties. Plus I really likes to laugh). And the combination of the song with the visual espect it’s just precious.
-The leagus as vines
This one has some good ones as well.
-Vines
This one has some good ones as well. But I would like to refer you to the last clip. It got such a vibe of its own. I really want to read a fic about the double night hang out of the Switzerland boys and their afore-mentioned boyfriends. I really want to read about it.
Chicago Blackhawks
-Crack Video
The highlight here I think is the John Mulaney one and the Let it Be one.
-Mean Girls
This is a perfect edit. I think that the charachtarization is accurate.
-I like big boys
I liked all the edits of this song in all of its variety.
Patrick Kane
-I want watch the world burn
As a continuation of the mean girl verse, this is from the musical. I really liked the atmosphere.
Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews
-Sabotage
I just like the song and the pictures.
-Forever Young
I think that everyone loves nostalgia and in general we like to focus on the glamorous espects of our lives. We love the glory days and not the decline afterwards. So something about this song with those two just struck me inside so much. I lost the amount of times that I would just watch this video in loops. Plus, the fact that they are the last of a certain era of the team didn’t help.
-This clock never seemed so alive
Every pairing needs a sappy montage with a cute song.
Dallas Stars
-Dallas Stars as FRIENDS
Amazing, what’s not to like about it. Friends opening sequence, but with the Dallas Stars.
-Dallas as Vines
This is seriously accurate to the core and just fun.
-Another Dallas as Vines
This is also funny as hell, and I think that the ‘watch the light Kevin’ is the most funny one.
-Dallas Vines
When it comes to Dallas there were a lot of vines edits that spoke to my sole, and this one was no exception. I can literally quote the whole video now.
-Dallas as Vine
This one right here is one of the legendery edits of the Dallas Stars. The accuracy is just funny and hurt. I watched it so many times.
-Dallas Vines once again
I don’t know why, but I just love all the edits about the FCC line and the power play vs. penarlty kill that just do it for me.
Daryl Reaugh
-Calls
This is an out of context greatest calls of him. There are some great ones in here, but the ‘double bennetration’ is living rent free in my mind.
Michael Ruffl (& Matthew Tkackuk)
-Take a hit
I just love the song along with the grittiness of the two of them. I didn’t know the song before, so it also introduce me to a great song. This playoff series was a great fun, and I enjoyed watching this edit come out of it.
Tyler Seguin
-Tyler Seguin as Vine
The funniest part was that it wasn’t even intentional.
-Or Nah
Tyler Seguin needs a sexy edit.
-Sexy as fuck
Sometimes a person needs more than one sexy edit about them.
Tyler Seguin & Jamie Benn
-What do you mean?
A short vine about them.
Jason Dickinson
-I got it from my daddy
I always thought about how he looked too similar to Tyler. This video is not wrong.
New York Islanders & New York Rangers
-Game Recap
That’s some funny and accurate game recap.
Philadelphia Flyers
-You want a guy that’s sweet
I love it when people do this sort of edit to a group with the Bo Burnham song. And she literally nailed with the discription of every single one.
-Results of Group Chat Questions
This is exactly what the headlight says.
-Mean Girls
I always love the mean girls edits with hockey players.
-Man, I feel like a woman
There should be no reason for this song to work this good with the promotional clip.
-Rickey Thompsons edit
They are funny, but the first one is just hilarious.
Claude Giroux
-Take it off my shoulders
The edit is good. But also I had to put it here, because if you read the rest of the post you will see how she posted a primer of Claude Giroux. And when I mean a primer I mean a detailed book, including pictures. about each and every stage of his career. This is unreal with how much this is good an an awsome reading. I will recommend it to everyone who is listening.
-Claude Giroux as Vine
It short but it’s literally what he did.
-You’re the last of the real ones
This song just capsulate perfectly how we as fans sees him and his departure from the team. Players are humans, but sometimes we as fans see them as so much more, and we see them as those unatainable. However, at the same time they help us with ours lives. And I just think that she did such a good job with this song, and how she poposefully picked the upbit parts with the happy footage of Claude. Because that’s what it’s was all about, and he loved this team, and gave it his all.
She mentioned it in her post, but also the fact that he was the last remaining peace of the old Flyers team, made him the last one. So with him gone, it’s literally not the same Flyers team anymore. And as a relatively new fan of the sport, recently is the faze where I need to deal with this phenomenon for the fist time.
-I think I’ve seen this film before
And if the last vidoe showed the upbeat part of Claude Giroux, with this one she just hit me in the feeling. Claude went through the Flyers trading their captain, he’s been through the Flyers not knowing if they’d make a mistake to name him captain after what happend with Richards. But Claude showed them and to anyone who doubted him, how it was the right choice. And to see how it all just forgotten and they traded him regardless how he wanted to stay in this team for the rest of his career.
The lyrics that stood the most to me were “Who am I defending now?” because it showed perfectly how on one hand he capsulated this team and its image so much that when you think about the Philadelphia Flyers, you think about Claude Giroux. But on the other hand, now he no longer is part of the team. And the fact that he didn’t even have a cup to show for all those years, kind of put you on this inbetween place where you don’t know how to think about this team, this city that yo gave your life to it. That yo literally built your adult life in, and now you just need to leave and move on. Whether you want to or not.
-Don’t take the money
this one is also on the more upbeat videos, but I really like the verse with the “While we fight”. Beacuse it really shows the relathionship between Claude and management. Plus the song brings up the constant scale (that we as fans like to forger sometimes) between “This is the team, and this is how fun they are” to “Hockey is a besnuess and we need to look at the numbers, regardless of the player”.
-Nothing New
And if all the other Claude Giroux videos gave me feelings, this one is the one that made me ugly cry more times than I could count on.
This video is just amazing. It shows how the cycle is always reapiting itself, sometimes it’s abrupt and sometime it takes some time, but in the end it always repeats itself; It also show how as players grow old their place in the legue, in their team, gets questioned time and time again. Despite the fact that they could still be producing, or can have an integral part of the team. And especially when it came to Claude Giroux, it’s really showed how despite him wanting to stay, it didn’t matter. and the fact that the team as a whole had a meltdown didn’t matter, it was easy to blame it on the captain.
And on a more personal note. I didn’t heard this song before. And it wrecked me to hear it, especially the part about “How can a person know everything at 18, but nothing at 22?” I mentioned it on a different fic rec, but I enlisted to the army of my country when I was 18. And in highschool I was very optimistic about this and thought that I knew I it would go. But after I enlisted I found out it was nothing like I imagined it to be. So last year, as I literally was 22 and had to figure out my life after the worst 3 years of my llife, this song just hit me in the feelings. I know that you didn’t really sign up for this rambling, but I had to talk about it, because that’s why this edit have a special place in my heart. Because it’s not just the nerative and the emotional song that hit me.
Travis Konecny
-Don’t you want to?
I just really love the family dinamic in this edit. I could and have seen this video on loops on end.
-I like big boys
I really liked the twist in this edit.
Pittsburgh Penguins
-Penguins as Vines
This is the first part of the Penguins ones. All of her edits are so good.
-Pittsburgh as Vines
This is just plain funny and so put together. But the careless whisper one (and the first clip) just wrecked me.
Sidney Crosby
-Compilation of Crosby’s high pitch voice
Sometimes you just need to hear a compilation of someone high pitched voice and laugh.
-Look what you made me do
This is absolutely amazing. And out of all the players I think that Sidney Crosby is the perfect example for this song. Especially for how his attitude with the media and in general changed through the years. Can’t count the amount of times I watched it.
Toronto Maple Leafs
-Learn the Alphabet
It’s just hilarious. I love out-of-context footage.
-First Time
Sometimes when the pain is strong enough, you just need to laugh about it.
Mitch Marner/Auston Matthews
-Thunder (credit to @sunshinemitch)
This video is so good. It’s the perfect song. It got the right hype to it, but also when you think about it it shows how lighning and thunder are always together and you can’t have the one without the other. And I think she showed it really well at the video, especially with the line “I was lightning before the thunder”. I also love how she showed the fact that one of them came before the other, but in general how they came at the same time.
Washington Capitals
-Caps+ John Mulaney quotes
It’s just funny, and if I had to pick the highlight I would choose the Tom Wilson part.
Nicklas Backstrom
-Fan Cam
Everybody need some appreciation with a mood song.
Nicklas Backstorm/Alexander Ovenchkin
-You’re 36
That’s just funny and short.
Those are all the post I had saved. I’m about to do another one (it will be shorter) about the vidoes I have saved on youtube).

boog what is your fav sk show
I may have taken forever to answer this, but that's because I've been THINKING ABOUT IT CONSTANTLY!!!
In all honesty, I can't pick ONE favourite, but I'll give you a little list (in no particular order mind you)
The first sk musical I ever watched was The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals (probably a few months after it originally came out???) and it will ALWAYS be one of my favourite musicals of all time. It's funny, the premise is unique and inventive, the score is PHENOMENAL, and THE PERFORMANCES??? Corey as Bill made me SOB (and still does if I think about him and Alice's story too hard). Now that the productions rights are out and I'm headed to uni and they have a theatre club there... 👀 (It probably won't happen but a Boog can dream)
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE Twisted. Yeah it's silly, but also absolutely devastating. It would be an understatement to say I'm obsessed with Dylan Saunders' performance as Jafar. Twisted is my Roman Empire. I think about No One Remembers Achmed at least five times a day. AND JEFF BLIM AS FREAKY ALADDIN??? HIS JEKYLL AND HYDE MOMENT??? IS FOREVER ENGRAINED IN MY PSYCHE. And also just the Disney villains montage type thing they do is iconic and wonderful and 'If I Believed' is the only song ever actually.
I also just love The Hatchetverse as a whole. Black Friday was a real treat and I absolutely freaked out when I found out Dylan was in it, and was still absolutely astonished by his performing as Tom. That man is MAGICAL. A lot of people put "what tim wants" and "if I fail you" pretty low in their song rankings but like... They are EVERYTHING to me. Also KIM WHALEN??? A FELLOW GINGER SOPRANO WHO IS JUST SO GORGEOUS AND TALENTED AND I LOVE HER??? Also Jon as Wiggly is HORRIFYING and seeing him go from Paul in tgwdlm straight to Wiggly was JARRING. Linda Monroe is also ✨iconic✨. (I could ramble about this musical forever). It was definitely different in some ways than TGWDLM and was more serious tonally, but I really enjoyed it (and the music is AWESOME).
Trail to Oregon is also great!!! It's so silly and I LOVE seeing Joey Richter scurry back and forth putting on different hats to play almost the entire ensemble. Corey as Cleetus and the grandpa (Titty Mitty in the proshot) was phenomenal, and Lauren Lopez as Craphole is probably one of my favourite roles she's ever played. My absolute favourite moment of this entire musical is Joey Richter playing the baby buffalo whose family is about to get slaughtered. Baby buffalo Joey lives rent free in my mind. Also the best theatre blooper of all time comes from TTO (Joey forgetting his lines in independence my beloved)
NERDY PRUDES MUST DIE. THE SOUNDTRACK. THE SOUNDTRACK. I haven't watched this one as many times as the others, and it hasn't been around for as long so I don't think I've fully grown to appreciate it yet (and that's saying A LOT because I LOVE NPMD). ANGELA AS GRACE CHASTITY??? HELLO??? SHE IS EVERYTHING??? AND MAX JAGERMAN??? All of the performances in this are absolutely incredible. ALSO FINALLY GETTING MARIAH AS A LEAD IN A STARKID SHOW??? AS SOMEONE WHO'S BEEN IN THE FANDOM SINCE TGWDLM??? WE WERE WAITING SO PATIENTLY FOR THIS AND HOLY SHIT DID IT PAY OFF. Peter Spankoffski is everything and Cool As I Think I Am is ALSO everything. And omg Richie Lipschitz. I need to see him again in a nightmare time episode or something because that boy deserved SO MUCH BETTER!!! I think the score for this one was also incredible, and it was a super fun musical!!! It didn't permanently fuck up my brain and ruin my life like I was afraid it would, which disappointed me at first honestly, but it's nice to have a hatchetfield story that doesn't result in the immediate end of the world (although grace is totally gonna fuck shit up let's be honest).
Also I LOVE Nightmare Time. So much. Especially characters like Miss Holloway??? She. Is. EVERYTHING. Killer Track and Time Bastard are probably some of my favourite episodes, and I just think the effort put into the writing and editing and everything about nightmare time is just awesome. Hoping we get more down the line ✨🙏✨
I've also watched some of AVPM but I don't think I finished it. HOWEVER, Granger Danger is a certified BANGER and is also everything to me.
Thank you for coming to my TED BOOGtalk

Maybe it's recency bias being the latest chapter but in Indi-Quack! when Della and Gandra are just stoned out of their minds jamming out to Gwen Stefani. I think I called it montage vibes. If not I definitely meant to
“Montage vibes”, I love it! And thanks!
I knew I just HAD to make those two sing together because I just love that one time Della and Dewey sang ‘Stand Out’. It’s just a great character moment for those two and it works thematically for their story in that episode and I guess I wanted to do something like that
I gave myself rules for the song choice before I actually picked something:
1. It has to be a song from the 2000’s era (more specifically 2000-2007) since both characters were around for that era of music
2. It has to be a song that I could see them both enjoy in some capacity
Originally it was going to be a P!nk song that I love but for some reason it just didn’t feel right for them both or the story. I later found out the song I wanted to use was released in 2008 so that option was done
But don’t worry! Della Duck will be singing that P!nk song in this WIP I’ve been workin on and will be uploading soon!…Okay well not in the first chapter, but the second chapter she will for sure! And honestly I’m glad I saved that song for this WIP because it will be used during a fight scene

Morely & Friends: Revenge Of The Chalupacabra. Part One.
The opening credits roll as a montage is shown of workers transforming Morely World into it's Hallows Day variation. Decorations are placed, attractions are changed, even the music playing around the park has become more..dare we say..spooky?
Time passes and the theme park has opened it's doors to the public for all the Hallows Day festivities. We're shown everyone enjoying themselves as the days go by. Finally the camera stops on a pair of park workers standing in front of a new attraction, The Chalupacabra's Maze of Terror.
The workers discuss how the attraction has had more problems than anything else in the park. They've had to work on it constantly, and now the animatronic Chalupacabra seems to be malfunctioning.
They head through the maze, stopping every so often when a strange noise is heard. The camera changes to the point of view of something watching the workers make their way through. It follows them but remains out of view.
The workers head in separate directions. One heads to where the animatronic is supposed to be only to realize it's gone. He calls out to the other worker but there is no response. He heads back through the maze and eventually finds his partner's flashlight. Picking it up before taking a look around. He turns around just in time to catch a glimpse of the previously unseen creature pouncing on him. All that is seen is the flashlight hitting the ground as the camera pans back up to the sky and the movie title comes into view.
MORELY & FRIENDS: REVENGE OF THE CHALUPACABRA!
Morely & Friends have arrived at Morely World to help with all the strange occurrences. Morely is wearing a knight costume, Bill is dressed like a pirate, and the Taco Felon is dressed like some sort of space marine. Piper has stayed behind to help the Nacho King handle Taco Land's own Hallows Day festivities.
Tumblr media
Morely: "Well it's a pleasure to be here..I mean I'd say that under regular circumstances but it sounds like ya'll got a major problem on your hands. People goin missing, the park havin all kinds of problems, the Chalupacabra movin around.."
Tumblr media
Bill: "Chalupacabra? Nobody said nothin about no Chalupacabra!"
Morely: "Relax Bill, it isn't real. They built a fake one for the Hallows Day fun! Look, it's over there!"
Bill and Morely look over at the animatronic Chalupacabra exactly where it's supposed to be.
Morely: "But the workers say sometimes they find it missing or it winds up in different parts of the park."
Olivia (Played by Blanche Bolingbroke) enters wearing an "Alice in Wonderland" style costume.
Taco Felon: "Well look who it is, taking a break from your booming bakery business?"
Olivia: "I heard you all might need a little help, I asked my sister Sally to man the bakery for a little bit. After all, the last time we dealt with the Chalupacabra it was after me."
Morely: "Must be a little weird seein a theme park attraction based on somethin that was chasin you and your sister around last year."
Olivia: "Well it is a little odd but I mean, it's just an animatronic." Olivia walks over and taps the Chalupacabra's head making a metal clanging noise.
Night begins to fall as our heroes investigate the park for any signs of mischief.
Morely: "Ok so it should just be us and a few of the workers, we don't have to worry much about the general public."
Taco Felon: "If that's the case..who's that?"
Morely looks over and sees a group of people suddenly split up and head different directions.
Bill: "Ok well that's a little suspicious.."
Olivia: "Uhm, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but.." Olivia points back at the stage at the end of the maze where the Chalupacabra is supposed to be only..it isn't.
Morely: "Oh crud..."
Taco Felon: "Alright listen, two of those kids ran towards the Haunted Castle attraction. I'll go after them. Bill, go after the one that headed toward the Spooky Swamp area. Morely and Olivia can.."
One of the people makes their way over in a panic.
Rosie: "You gotta help! Listen, I know it's weird but I came here to visit my friends, a few of them are working here but something is wrong! It's like something has taken them over! They.."
Morely: "Turned into what their costumes were?"
Rosie: "How did you know?"
Morely points to the fact Some of the kids were now being chased by something resembling an actual werewolf (Played by Tally).
Bill: "We gotta.."
Olivia: "RUN!"
The chalupacabra suddenly leaps down and growls..sounding very real.
Our heroes split up and run through the park pursued by various monsters as well as the Chalupacabra itself.
Taco Felon and Rosie manage to barricade themselves in the Haunted Castle. Morely & Olivia take a wrong turn and end up in the Spooky Swamp.
Bill: "Man...I lost track of everyone..Morely? Olivia?" Bill turns a corner in the maze and comes face to face with a strange woman wearing a hooded cloak, and worst of all..the chalupacabra..
TO BE CONTINUED.

This past weekend, Madrid’s Cívitas Metropolitano stadium traded soccer balls for lightsticks to host Kpop Lux, another macro concert K-pop experience in Europe, this time boasting acts like SHINee, IVE, ENHYPEN, and Ateez, among many others, in its lineup.
Tens of thousands of fans congregated on site on the outskirts of the Spanish capital (with even more tuning in online) to enjoy over three hours of songs, segments, and games from their favorite K-pop acts. Though there were many memorable moments throughout the night, it was clear that all eyes — both from fans and fellow acts — were on SHINee, the inimitable second-gen representative celebrating their 15th anniversary this year.
As the time came for SHINee to take the stage to close the event, the stadium, which is home to the Atlético de Madrid team, traded its traditional red color scheme for SHINee’s pearl aqua green thanks to the many shinning Shawol lightsticks. After a quick introductory montage featuring fellow idols highlighting SHINee’s journey and legacy, the act finally took to the stage to perform “Don’t Call Me,” fan-favorite “View,” “Juice,” and “Hard,” leaving the crowd ecstatic but also craving more.
Before they headed on stage, Teen Vogue briefly caught up with SHINee's Key, Minho, and Taemin backstage at the Kpop Lux SBS Super Concert in Madrid to chat about their time in the city and the role fashion has played in their 15-year trajectory. (And, yes, also teeth brushing.)
Tumblr media
Teen Vogue: Hi, everyone! How are you enjoying Madrid? I've been getting some of your antics online and saw some of you went shopping during your downtime. What have you been buying in Madrid?
Key [to Taemin]: What did you get?
Taemin: First, I went to Loewe and noticed that the price was considerably lower than in Korea, which impressed me. Then, I went shopping at a department store and found a lot of clothes with discounts. I think they were having a sale so I was very happy. I actually saw the photos that were taken [of me on social media], too. I think I did a good job because I bought many things that aren't available in Korea and that aren't as cheap in Korea as well. That was a win for me. [Laughs.]
WATCHGOT7 Creates The Playlist of Their Lives
TV: Nice. Yeah, that was good thinking. So, you had your 15th anniversary not that long ago. Congratulations!
All: Thank you!
TV: You also won your 69th no. 1 trophy at Inkigayo not that long ago…
Key: Did we?
TV: Yes. I don't know if you saw this online, but there was a tweet that went semi-viral after that that pointed out how SHINee is now one of the very few acts to have won first place across three decades in these types of broadcasts. I think that's wild because you are all barely three decades old. How does it make you feel to be hitting these types of milestones when you're still pretty young?
Minho: We are thrilled to have won first place in three different decades. But I think it's not just our efforts; these are trophies we have achieved together with our fans, so I just want to say once again how immensely grateful we are for that. [To do it with our fans], it's really a feat that makes us feel happier than anyone in the world.
Tumblr media
TV: Across the 15 years that you've been active, you've done a lot of music videos, stages, everything. Is there a style or look you've worn that's your absolute favorite ever? And are there any that make you go a bit like, “Ehm, I shouldn't have done that”?
Key: When we film a video, we can't help but reflect on the trends of the time. If you rewatch our old music videos, most of them do feel somewhat dated, but, at that time, that was the best fashion. Of course, it feels old school now. For that reason, I think I'd be the least embarrassed to pick our most recent music video, "Hard," as my favorite style-wise. [Laughs.]

TV: I don't think all of them feel that dated…
Key: You think? I mean, we love "Sherlock" and "View," but it was seven or eight years ago, so…
TV: "1 of 1." I like that one a lot.
Key: Oh, yes. "1 of 1," actually.
TV: I think that's timeless.
Key: Yes.
TV: Have you ever liked an outfit that you've worn for a music video so much that you felt like you wanted to steal it? Or have you ever kept anything from a music video set because you liked it so much?
Taemin: Yes, I have. [Laughs.] There are many clothes I wear in music videos that I like actually, so I sometimes buy the same thing or just borrow them from the production team. I actually [really liked] the clothes I wore in the music video for "Hard." We wore brands that are on the up again these days in terms of popularity, such as Chrome Hearts. I actually loved the Chrome Hearts beanie I wear in the video, and I really wanted it for myself, but it was so hard to get because of the limited stock, so I searched through the web, in foreign sites, etc., and I finally managed to get one second hand.
TV: Well, that almost answers my next question, but here it goes anyways. How would you say your personal style differs from the style that you wear on stage?
Minho: Honestly, for me, I think it's very different. I think we have to be flashier on stage since our clothes need to be seen by people who are far away and we need our fans to really notice us and, naturally, the styles end up not being just your regular everyday clothes.
Taemin: I'm the opposite.
Key: [Laughs.]
Taemin: I think my thing is to take away a few elements from my stage outfits. Of course, on stage, it's going to be flashier, bolder, and over-conceptual…
Key: But whatever you're wearing in that era informs your personal tastes?
Taemin: Yes, that's exactly it. My personal style is kind of similar to my stage clothes, but I just dial it back a tiny bit. It's the same vibe but a bit more subtle.
Tumblr media
TV: Going into beauty a little bit, I know Taemin, you recently went super viral because Key exposed your teeth-brushing habits…
Taemin: [Laughs.]
TV: Do any of you have any other peculiar beauty habits, or fashion habits, that you have not shared with anyone?
Minho: Mmm, habits…
Taemin: I've been doing this lately. Because my personal style is very cool and trendy normally, I like to spice it up by adding cute items. Key rings, specifically. I recently got a Donald Duck key ring to attach to my clothing, and the fans really liked it. I saw a lot of fans getting the same key ring and attaching to their clothes as well. That was really fun. I was really feeling that for a while.
TV: That's really cute. Any other "weird" habits?
Key: Any weird habits? Well, there are times when we go abroad and [our skins] are not really used to the type of water, so we have to wash our faces with bottled water.
Taemin: [Laughs.]
TV: Been there. Okay, last question. I know you haven't been performing as much because all of you were away for a while, but now you're back together. You had a fan meeting in Seoul in May and are back to performing live again. Do you have any backstage rituals that you do before you go out and perform? Or something that you 100% need to do before going on stage?
Taemin: Brush my teeth. [Laughs.]
Key: We talk too much. We talk too much behind the scenes.
Taemin: We do.
Key:  And what else is there?
Taemin: But, hyung, I think you also know the taste of brushing your teeth before going on stage. It's refreshing!
Key: Um. We just get ready; that's the feeling.

Vladdy, can you pick music that you'd use to underscore the TV show of your life? Not because I want to make a playlist or anything....👉👈
You love asking me about music, don't you? Ask away, I love talking about it!
(to return to another thing I liked about the TV show, Lestat being....weird...about music. Louis will tell you I come alive talking about music or theater. I've never killed a tenor for sour notes. But I don't...put it past me. I enjoyed the scene completely. )
Anyway, I decided to take this very literally and think of what songs would actually be used in TV show of The Vampire Lestat.
(amc, take note)
So!
To establish Auvergne and the emptiness of days and my desire to get out of there we look to that universal voice of those needing to leave their hometowns, Bruce Springsteen . Use "My Hometown" to establish, and "Growing Up," for the wolf killing.
The song playing under Nicki and my first.... conversation...is Bon Jovi's "Bed of Roses." Yes, it's dramatic and Too Much, but isn't all of our first loves?
For Gabrielle's establishing moments we need Billy Joel's "She's Always A Woman To Me" "and the most she will do is throw shadows at you but she's always a woman to me". That's my mother. Or perhaps we use this when she's turned. Haven't decided yet.
As Nicki and I leave for Paris we use Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run!" Because what else could we play?
Meeting Armand and the Children of Darkness requires the original Goth Rock song "Bela Lugosi's Dead," by Bahaus, more for ambiance than anything else.
I think the song for Stalking Louis has to go back to Billy Joel. "Only The Good Die Young." I know it's about convincing a girl to put out but ...."I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints/the sinners have much more fun" is something I've basically said to Louis.
Claudia's turning is underscored by Guns and Roses' Sweet Child of Mine, and perhaps if she gets a Claudia Hunts montage, we step out of my comfort zone into a 60s band, the Monkees' "She Makes Me Laugh." Because that peppy upbeat song has always sounded to me like it was about a little girl, not a lover. And I think it would be funny to juxtapose her bloody antics with the happy lyrics.
And I think we need to turn to Queen's "Who Wants To Live Forever?" When Claudia kills me and takes off for the old world. And when I get to Paris and find out Claudia is dead, Louis hates me and Armand won't help, it's "the show must go on" to underscore a montage that leads to my burial and long sleep.
For the triumphant return to life, I think I have to go with the classic, the song that has become associated with me more than any other. The Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil." I assume it needs no introduction?
There, I've done most of the first two books. Interesting playlist? Do you like it? Somewhat unexpected I hope?

I'm glad to see you answer (and no pressure at all, this particular fic has been so precious to me, I'd already made the playlist asdfjsk) You're too kind omg, I thank you for writing it in the first place, and this is just a token of my appreciation <3
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3VXYoJIvkgV2Fu4CZwrhaB?si=859c50fe23b74936
(just a warning lol idk how my taste in music differs from you, so you might not like it in which case i apologise before hand 😭 I tried to mostly pick songs that fit the feels/plot overall, some songs (nearly half to 2/3rd LOL) is kinda from Sergio POV? I hope it comes across that way atleast, and a few instrumentals that again I *hope* fit the general mood, I tried (key word - try) arranging in order of the events that happen in the fic but you can also listen on shuffle! I also apologise for how long it got, please listen to it only if you have the time/energy lol (it's also got a few nods to hc's from some of your other fics but it is primarily based on the hermanos in rain fic)
PS I understood your struggle to choose a title, I literally titled it "rain" in the beginning XD I ended up going with one of the other options to match the cover pic, hope you don't mind! I love the actual title of the fic too, it just looked too long on spotify 😅
Firstly, sorry for how very looonnngggg it took me to answer! @ everyone, this an amazing hermanos-themed playlist that perfectly captures every beat of I'd rather be dry (but at least I'm alive). Thank you so much for taking the time to make this and for sharing it with me (as you know, I 100% RACED to listen to it as soon as you shared it with me). No really, thank you so much for always being there to support my hermanos fics! I really appreciate it and means a lot to me!
My music taste is also all over the place LMAO and I always have the toughest time thinking of songs that match the "vibe" of whatever it is I'm looking for, so I'm super impressed at how you picked out such a wide-range list that manages to capture every scene and mood I was going for :D The fact that it's chronological too blows my mind! I'll definitely be listening to it a lot while rereading that story ;) And all the instrumentals you picked were so beautiful and exactly what I enjoy listening to too!
Remembrance - This sets the mood so well, not just for a moody intro but also Sergio's mindset in general (+ his life with Andres), like this is something I can hear from show canon!
He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother - Perfect title and perfect lyrics for our brotp, made for the hermanos! Also love how it coincides with Sergio literally having to carry Andres in the next scene lol
Carry You - Same thoughts apply here! Thematically perfect; also something that feels like a track the show would play over a montage
West - Sleeping At Last song!! haha I've used their songs to set the mood so much whenever I'm writing for hermanos or berlermo, and the song you picked here (both instrumental and lyrics) fits the story so well, especially the "we'll be just fine" being repeated
Blue Ridge Mountains - Another beautifully themed brotherly song! Can definitely see this playing through the scene of Sergio trudging through the rain, or of him and Andres "contemplating" in the motel together during the storm
Repeat Until Death - The lyrics :'D really perfectly captures Sergio's feelings about Andres' (impending) death; this one's so sad omg but so fitting
The Emotion - the vibes! I can hear this suiting Sergio's flashback to the day on the beach (and events in Hermanito!) and Andres comforting him in the present
Recuerdos - Another beautiful instrumental that captures the same mood as #7!
It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday - this one reminds me of Sergio telling Andres his fears out loud in the motel :') also fits his mindset regarding Andres (and their father) in general
Across the Sea - el mitad del oceano reference!? haha either way, another bittersweet instrumental that suits the melancholic mood
Song for a Stormy Night - literally captures that entire picture of Sergio listening to the storm while Andres sleeps XD the lyrics somehow took all of Sergio's words out of his mouth
The Golden Age - I'm also a woodkid fan and I remember hearing this song the first time and going 'hmm hermanos' asdfasdf You came to the same conclusion, love that!
Stay Alive - Another one that really captures the narrative's mood, especially from Sergio's pov!
Brother - this gives me strong "Hermanito" vibes! And to me, this feels like a rare one from Andres' pov
Jacob and the Stone - Another great instrumental that fits the tragisweet mood in the motel!
I Don't Want to Lose You - This playlist digs through Sergio's emotions like an onion, and this one really suits his confession about never wanting to lose his brother :') Even the lyrics perfectly fit the hermanos (like the part of past loves at the piano!). I know the singer wrote this with a couple in mind lol but out of context, this is a song for the #hermanos
Same as above!
Carry You Through - we're 18 songs in and you still manage to find a song with lyrics that matches Sergio's angst so well that I'm just impressed XD "we couldn't be closer but still out of reach" AHHH
In Case You Don't Live Forever - Another PERFECTLY matched hermanos song, especially taking in the events from the "Hermanito" timeline; exactly what was going through Sergio's head towards the end of Rain too
Isaac - And we're getting to the end of the storm ;) OHH another rare one from Andres' pov that perfectly captures how he felt about seeing Sergio panic through Rain. And yes, always insane about Sergio is the Isaac to Andres' Ishmael
You'll Be Alright - a comforting one that feels like it's from Andres when he's comforting Sergio!
Yellow - Ah, coldplay, Alex Pina's favorite band XD not an lcdp playlist without them! This really fits the mood at the end, after the climax, and I like to think of it from Andres' pov as he's reminiscing about little Sergio
Save You - Immediately made think of Sergio's , "This time, I'm protecting you" :') and the overall last scene of the fic; it's what all his fears have been boiling down to, and the lyrics about searching for an answer/trying to understand --> that's so El Profesor!!
We're Gonna Be Okay - perfectly paints the mood of Andres hugging Sergio in the living room, telling him it's going to be okay after that hell of a day they had :'D
Si, Te Quiero Mucho (Hermanito) - LOSING MY MIND THAT THERE IS A REAL SONG NAMED THIS!????? wonder if it's a lcdp reference lol anyway, definitely Andres' final thoughts about Sergio both in the canon timeline and the end of Rain; literally the perfect thing to close out the playlist with and what I can hear playing over the "credits" of Rain. Mood and lyrics match so well (Andres' pretentious ass asdfadsf) and the culmination of what he feels about Sergio + inevitably leaving him behind
Thanks again for sharing this with me! A lot of wonderful new songs here I didn't know about and so many great hermanos-themed tracks too :D This was such a sweet gift and I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart!
And loved the title you chose too ;) PLEASE, I of all people know the pain of trying to choose a good title!

I watched the pilot ep of The Truth S2 so you don't have to, or so you can decide if you will. Please bear with my overuse of the word creepy, but it's kind of the whole point of the show.
I really enjoyed The Great Escape and was thinking this might be similar and maybe it is, but not exactly.
youtube
It opens on each of of our celebrity contestants (half from S1 Bai Yu, Liu Yuning, and Zhou Keyu, and the newcomers Dilraba Dilmurat, Wang Xun, and Zhang Linghe) alone in a car at night. They are dropped off alone in a very dark old town. They have a flashlight, a camera apparatus around their neck to catch close facial reactions, and someone they can't see is filming them from far away. Each one if dropped off alone, near a creepy ringing phone booth and given a map and task to get through the village in the dark and find the mayor to get a resident card.
As they make their way through the dark they are met by creepy dolls, animatronic… things, and people in costumes doing creepy things starting with a scary opera singer, and some sort of ghostly apparition.
Honestly I was really only paying attention to the actors I knew, so I will mostly speak about them. (Also please just insert a laughing emoji from me after almost every sentence. It'll be annoying to read if I put them all in, but they are definitely there in spirit.) Liu Yuning is immediately established as having already pre-scared himself so much that he's vulnerable to every jump scare and quite shriek-y about it. Dilraba is cheerfully game to do it but with an absolute attitude of "oh fuck no" at every encounter, insists she scared but that she can definitely play it calm. Zhang Linghe has absolutely set himself up as a problem solver. He meets a giant animatronic spider with a benign "it creeps me out" and then kicks it as far away as possible.
Each player meets the 'mayor' in a creepy room, and he tells them that get a resident card they have to go to a second location, find a music box and a key, learn the lyrics and tune to a creepy nursery rhyme song, find a third location and sing the song correctly to win the resident card.
Along the way they meet a creepy lady with a loose chicken. Dilraba wants nothing to do with the chicken declares herself scared of chickens period, but then says that if it's fat enough they should just eat it. Zhang Linghe cheerfully agrees to help catch the chicken then with obvious regrets says that maybe he's scared of the chicken. And then there's a very scary groundskeeper who rightfully scares every single player, except maybe Zhang Linghe who just backs away slowly. And an animatronic monster baby crawling around which Dilraba just picks up and carries with her. And woman who 'accidentally' throws water on them as they enter the first task building. Liu Yuning is very accepting of this, but everyone else is very WTF about it. (For clarity they are each still alone and walking through the dark as all of this is happening.)
The first location has a puzzle to solve to get the key they need and the music box. Zhang Linghe is very much an engineering student about it, but it appears his 'fold it in to a triangle' solution really helps solve it quickly and everyone else either partially solves it or takes only a trial error approach.
Each individually finds the music box and it is indeed a very creepy song. The whole thing is played with a like a combination Blair Witch Project and haunted house montage vibe. They all do their best to learn the song. I already knew Zhang Linghe couldn't sing but he really proves it here. Everyone does at least a passable job, except Liu Yuning who of course comes through on the learning a tune quickly and sings it well. They all find the microphone room and sing until the mayor reappears and gives them their resident card to this spooky haunted house village.
Then it's morning and we get a montage tour of the creepy old town (the historic town of Chikan in Guangdong province) looking very picturesque, and all the players arrive at a church and sit in a row to talk about the spooky game of the night before.
Zhang Linghe asks his geges from the first season to help him because he is very timid and they and laugh and say it's fine because Liu Yuning is definitely a much bigger scaredy cat than he is. Dilraba says it's easier for everyone else because they are all over 190cm tall and she is not. They all claim to also become short when scared in the dark.
Everyone is given a puzzle box to solve together which they finally manage to do and they get the rules of the game. Essentially in each episode 4 of the 6 players will become 'suspects,' 2 will be 'detectives.' Of the suspects one will be the murderer and have the ability (after solving a puzzle) to conscript another player into being an accomplice to help them escape. So a dinner party murder mystery game every week, on a large scale, across a whole little creepy town. Yay!
Then they have to come up with a team name, which they are very bad at. Then they have to say the name in unison, which they are even worse at. And I already love everything about this whole ridiculous show.
