hot take maybe but the only reason most show runners/producers/writers/etc. age up the (female) characters from book to show adaptation is to overtly sexualize them and not face mass amounts of scrutiny for it.
put 13 year old daenerys next to 30 year old drogo and the audience understands that daenerys is a victim to him and not an equal. put 22 year old emilia clarke as daenerys next to 32 year old jason mamoa as drogo and they’re seen as a budding romance with a tragic ending (by the general audience) due to their on screen chemistry.
flash forward to today, and now we’re dealing with 21 year old milly alcock playing rhaenyra from 14-19 and how her relationship with (28 year old fabien) a mid twenties criston is seen as -morally acceptable- and not a result of a degenerate pedophile taking advantage of and grooming his charge. “ser criston protects the princess from her enemies, but who protects the princess from ser criston?” rhaenyra was 14 when rumors started speculating that she slept with an almost 30 year old criston. a criston who had know her since she was 8 and had been her sworn shield since she was 9. obviously seeing a teenager in the early stages of puberty next to a fully grown man would emphasize rhaenyra being THE victim, as opposed to the show having an 18-19 year old explore her sexuality and seek out ‘consensual’ sex with her peer bodyguard. the discourse has even reached the point where certain stans try to paint the much younger woman as the perpetrator and aggressor of this event, who forced the unassuming man into having sex with her.
i’ll even take this a step farther, and bring up how if they had shown a 19 year old alicent abusing a 10 year old rhaenyra it would be identified and mutually agreed upon as a reprehensible act on alicent’s part. instead they’re of similar age, so people can attempt to paint the picture as two women of equal standing hating each other, and not a much older woman bullying a motherless child. once again however, some stans even go so far as to try and paint alicent as a victim of rhaenyra, and not the other way around. further cementing this is how both versions of alicent are younger than both versions of rhaenyra, AND how criston is still played by an actor who is younger than older!rhaenyra despite his character being the same age as daemon in canon.
they know exactly what they’re doing too, considering they aged alicent down to give her that innate compassion one typically feels when seeing children being abused on tv (something that can no longer be applied to rhaenyra). despite that never being her story; *she* was the abuser, and rhaenyra was her victim. criston’s victim. it’s a nasty cop out, and i wish more people would call out how sickening it is to flip the switch and attempt to make abusive individuals more sympathetic than the *actual* victims of said abusers.

God, I hate neutrals in proship discourse.
Like, I respect people that flat out don't care about this-
but people that pretend the "death threats" stance and the "anti-death threats" stance are the same amount of bad are either wilfully ignorant, or okay with teenagers getting fucking death threats online.

Genuine question (you don't really do this but I'm too scared to ask anyone else 😭) but when I see Mario and Luigi fanart/fanfics the artist/writer sometimes adds a disclaimer saying "NOT A SHIP" or "PURELY FAMILIAL" etc. Why? Everybody knows they are brothers, even people who barely know Super Mario series, nobody is thinking of it in any other way. Of course it is not a ship. It confuses me that they feel the need to defend themselves just because they are drawing two brothers being happy 😅 Sorry for bad English lol
Never apologize for “bad” English (though your English is perfectly fine)! Writing in a tongue that’s not yours by birth is hella awesome and more than most native English speakers would ever attempt. You’re golden! 💗
Sadly, you’d be surprised. There’s a shocking number of people who either 1.) ship them or 2.) think that any display of verbal or physical affection is indicative of romantic or sexual attraction, because they’ve got weird internalized holdovers regarding affection between siblings and/or affection between men. Just the other day (yesterday I think?) I got an anon suggesting that I stop writing Mareach fics because the Brothership trailer “proves who Mario loves more,” and while I’m not sure if they were suggesting that you can’t love more than one person at a time in any manner or if they’re suggesting Mario’s love for Luigi must be romantic/sexual in nature… you see where the holdovers come in.
I’ve seen perfectly innocent brotherly love art reblogged under the mariocest tag, and I’ve seen what LOOKS like wholesome brotherly love art, only to find that same artist has drawn them making out or, uh, going at it. So, sadly, such disclaimers do need to be made sometimes. Some people are just sick.

instead of trying to replace humans with artificial intelligente they should make a new ai that's just... kinda dumb.
like you ask her a question and sure she'll answer but it might be wrong. or she'll forget a couple of details. or she'll simply say she doesn't know. if you ask her to make you a drawing instead of stealing from google she'll make a crude version on mspaint based on the first tutorial the algorithm could find on youtube. she makes typos every other message and if you'll call her out she'll get embarassed and say she's still learning. and if you ask for classified information instead of saying like "oh i can't tell you that" she'll straight up lie to you. do you see my vision

New challenge just dropped:
If you're going to make a post about someone who isn't you's political views, PLEASE link a source or explain why you believe that.
And if you don't do that, don't turn off replies for the love of god.
I've seen THREE of those types of posts calling celebrities Isreal supporters with zero evidence provided except their religion. And sure, you can suspect that someone might be a zionist based on that, but you cannot claim it factually unless you have evidence ready to point to.
I know PLENTY of Christians who do not support Isreal and support Palestine. You cannot point at someone, say "they're far right" and then call them a zionist with no other evidence. Unless that person has done something that supports Israel, directly or indirectly, then it's pure speculation, you are spreading potentially harmful rumors, and I don't want to keep getting blocked by people simply because I asked to see where they were getting this info from.
And, once again, when asked what your source is, if your first response is to get angry instead of finding a fucking link that proves your point, then I don't wanna hear it. You can speculate. You can be wary. In fact, you SHOULD be. But don't just say "X person is a zionist btw" and then hit post. If a person I at least somewhat look up to is, in fact, a zionist, I want to learn more. Direct me there so I can actually reblog your post, eh?

i keep seeing “it doesn’t matter if this post about anti semitism was made by a zionist, it’s still relevant” and i think this is a really deranged thing to say, but it’s a deranged thing that happens all the time so i guess it makes sense that people keep saying it. like, this was also a discussion when the crypto terf thing started going off, where people would say “it doesn’t matter if the op is a transmisogynist it’s a good post” but the op is specifically including trans women in their argument about male privilege which means their fundamental argument is incorrect and at odds with any and all feminist discussion!!! the same way that like, it doesn’t actually matter whether jackson hinkle is making a good point about palestine or not, he’s a far right anti semitic pos grifter and we should be blocking him any time he tries to engage because his fundamental argument is not “palestinians deserve a right to life, dignity, self determination, return, and safety” his argument is “the jews are controlling the media” a zionist will follow up their post about anti semitism with some shit like “i mean these leftists get mad when you call it the israel hamas WAR instead of a genocide, bc they’re anti semitic” while pictures of mutilated children’s corpses are being blasted all over my twitter feed. yes objectively anti semitism is on the rise, but that doesn’t mean you start platforming genocide deniers, sorry. there are plenty of people who don’t like, straight up refer to palestinians as rats that you can reference when discussing the rise in hate crimes!!

it really does piss me off when people call the war against the others 'the north's war' or 'the stark's war' or 'jon's/sansa's war' and claim that daenerys was helping because she just wanted to or something along those lines
as if the north/night's watch/the stark's/common sense wasn't saying the entire time "if these guys manage to defeat us they will come and kill all of you too, and have an army of millions of soldiers that cannot die to do so."
dany deciding to fight in the war in seasons 7/8 was not simply an act of compassion or allyship or whatnot, it was an act of self-preservation and (kinda) proactivity, considering that the war against the others is everyone's war. not just the north's, not just the stark's, and not just the night's watch.
the show and the books have been telling us the entire time that, when people get too caught up in politics and playing the "game of thrones", they end up ignoring, if not helping, the actual threat.
in fact, her fighting in the war is beneficial to her if she wishes to establish a reputation as the hero, and the liberator, coming first to conquer or reclaim, but then deciding that stopping the apocalypse is actually more important than ambition for the throne. whether or not i agree with that statement is a bit iffy, considering she needed the north to help in the fight as much as they needed her, but it is good PR.
no-one is indebted to dany because she decided to fight against the long night alongside everyone else, who had been doing it/preparing for it for far longer than she had. if the north/house stark had not sent word to dany, she would have been caught completely unawares and likely suffered a far worse fate at the hands of the others.
they helped each other, as just because dany had dragons and an army, she had no way of knowing what would kill the others or the wights, or what the legends surrounding them were, or even that it was a threat to be addressed until it would have been too late.
now this isn't me saying that i at all agree with the directions of seasons 6/7/8, or with how D+D handled the aftermath of the war with others, or jon, or dany, or any of the show in the later seasons really. dany (among others) absolutely deserved much better treatment, and so many characters were absolutely assassinated for no reason (*coughjoncough*). but, working with the material we have, dany made the only intelligent choice in those circumstances. the north are not supposed to worship for acknowledging what they have been saying and preparing for since the beginning: 'winter is coming'.
they helped each other: just because dany arrived at the war with the westerosi equivalent of nukes does not mean that everything else that was done by the north was useless compared to that. it was their land, and funds, and food stores, and shelter that was providing for dany's army and dany's dragons. "what do dragon's eat, anyway?" is a legitimate concern when you are trying to feed an entire nation of people during winter. "whatever they want" is not helpful here, babes, even if it is a badass line. my girl was just trying to figure out how to feed your kids without starving everyone else.
what happened after the long night is a different story entirely, but when it comes down to the actual war, there was never any question of what dany should do/should have done. had she ignored the others, and instead focused on "conquering" westeros, in the end, there would have been no westeros for her to conquer and rule.
tl:dr: the north is not to blame for what happened to dany during the long night, as if she had chosen to simply ignore the problem, it would have been so much worse for her in the end. nor are they indebted to her, as the problem would have become hers anyway, except on a much larger scale with much worse consequences. they helped each other, because it was never the north vs the others, it was humanity vs the others. life vs death.

(I agree with you, if your inbox is getting slammed right now)
But Vulcan, it's OK to tell people to kill themselves! 🙂 Especially if they're "bad" people 🙂 who do "bad" things, 🙂 because "bad" people will always be "bad", and this is in no way whatsoever antithetical to the series at all! 🙂
(Just in case, I'm being facetious, and yeah, I've seen people say Author and Friend deserve to die.)
Like, all the artists remotely involved (and people who aren't!) IMMEDIATELY have to drop everything and write an apology of how they aren't a racist bigoted kiddie-diddler and provide proof of how they're a Good Person. And no one thinks this is weird or fucked up at all.
Thank you, I was starting to think I was the fucked up one for thinking this isn't okay.
not getting my inbox slammed thankfully haha. but yeah, it is strange to me. it sucks that the fandom for the show whose message is "nobody is beyond forgiveness" is so hell bent on harassing people they deem as having stepped out of line. im sick of bad faith readings assuming the absolute worst intentions behind actions, and im sick of people forgetting that there is another human being behind the screen. i'll just leave it at that.

now i feel the need to open your eyes to the glory of tim. tell me your problems with him. what makes him uninteresting. i can fix it
Okay, there’s nothing INHERENTLY WRONG with Tim, I just like his siblings better. But please know that I come from a place of only reading fanfiction and little-to-no source material, so some of my reasons here may be factually incorrect.
Damian was raised by assassins and has a really proper way of speaking, he uses swords (katanas?), and he really likes animals and the arts. He’s everything young me wishes I was, and everything I wish young me was now, just with more trauma, but it adds flavor, anyways.
Jason is a literature nerd who was a goodboy Robin, before he died and came back and started beating the shit out of people who deserve it, and also Tim. I am very biased and you can tell whose side I’m taking here. Also he’s hot
I don’t know too much of these three, but Steph seems to be One Of Us, in simple terms, Cass is selectively mute(?) and really nice to everyone, and Duke works during sunlight hours, so I think we should cut him a break, because he probably deserves it.
I don’t really even like Dick that much; he comes off as that annoying older brother character who cares too much sometimes, but usually his well-meaning actions don’t seem to have any huge repercussions most of the time. But also he’s a cop, and apparently obsessed with redheads, so I don’t know, man.
Most that I know of Tim is that he’s a stalker to worrying levels of obsession, he’s really good with tech and hacking, and he’s an insomniac whose eye bags are a brand that new money can’t get their mitts on. Weakly relatable, and not in a good way. If someone destroyed everything I love and framed it on me, I would become Tim, which is an ending no one would want.
But Tim is better than Batman no contest
