Introducing Piper 💙

So many people is starting to like my integrity design what- I recieved three / four artworks for him and I decided to push away the procrastination block and make a colored reference for them. Here you go!

If you're confused by his palette, the main/base colors are the dots next to Piper! Don't mind me using other colors to darken some parts, I'm not used to digital lineart-

A summary and more information about Piper's backstory down below: ----------------------------------------------

If you were to meet Pre-Fallen (before falling down Mt. Ebott) Piper, you would've seen him as some sort of a golden child. A girl who is honest, graceful, always sticking to the good morals strongly, and the top student of their school and one of the greatest young ballerinas.

That's not the case for Piper. His life went down the moment they shared his dream to become a ballerina after his parents divorced. Their mother agreed, but as time passed, his mom became too obsessed with perfection. This led to Piper being sent on so many ballet competitions and dances, having extra strict ballet lessons on their free time, getting punished if mistakes and failures are present. This caused a growing hate in Piper, hating his mother, school, dreams and passion, even themselves.

It grew to the point Piper failed an important ballet competition for the first time. He snapped at their mother after that and was harshly slapped by his angry mother as response. That was the final straw. Piper ran far away, to the point he reached Mt. Ebott and fallen in.

(Small spoilers for Undertale Yellow in fourth paragraph)

Piper went through a pacifist run through the Underground when they met Flowey the Flower. He and the flower's goal was to originally go to King Asgore and get back to the surface, but as time passed, Piper became attached with the monsters they met, leading him to a road of self-discovery.

However, it didn't last long as Flowey became frustrated from the human straying away from the original goal that he absorbed Piper's SOUL, forcing them to engage in combat in Flowey's mind. Eventually, the latter becomes bored at the end of the fight and resets the timeline back to the start, thinking that they will forget and will do another better ending.

However, Piper remembered the last run. To say he was traumatized and betrayed was an understatement. This time, they attacked Flowey which meant no SAVE POINT. Piper went through a neutral run in the Ruins, attacking those he encountered, believing they will hurt them. He spared those who he believes won't hurt them.

However, when Piper reached Snowdin, he resorted into a genocide route when they encountered a large group of unsuspecting monsters. Dalv was one of the victims that survived, and Chujin ordered Axis Model 014 to hunt the human down. Piper ended up being tracked down by Axis in Waterfall, getting killed and having his SOUL contained. Their soul was eventually used for Chujin's experimentation until the scientist died and the SOUL was given to King Asgore in the end.

Okay I cant -- I need to say it out loud.

I am 100% sure, at this point, you are my favourite artist so far. And I have to honestly thank you for a lot of stuff so let me get to the point before my anxiety takes me back --

I came across you less than a month ago. I don't remember if I saw your art before reading your fictions (Mon Horrible Cherì was my first) or the other way around, but both inspired me so much I can't describe it properly. Art itself is my absolute weak spot. In my past years I always struggled working on that, I was never happy with my results, and mostly had drawn to pay bills than for my own happyness. In the end I hated it at the point that every line I drew was a cut on my hand instead of a moment of joy. And that was horrendous.

But then I came across your art, at some point - and I was amazed. Your style is something I wished to achieve years ago, or very similar to that at least, so I was totally into looking for more, and more, and more. I can't produce art of that quality, but for the first time I wasn't envious of another artist's ability and talent, I was just... Amazed. I felt very happy, can't say why, but your style totally fascinated me. It still do. Anytime you post something new it gives me a shot of serotonine, it makes me feel happy and inspires me to get back on my Huion and draw something too. I started to push it through everyday, and in less than a month I grew a lot. You don't know that, but you pushed me into art with a passion I didn't had since I was 16, and I turned 30 couple months ago. Now it gives me joy everytime I draw. It doesn't matter if the art I produce is no good, or if I change my style everytime (I'm trying a lot of styles right now), the only thing that matter is the way I feel when I sit here and just let my inspiration go. And I feel happy. Happy to draw. Happy to experiment. Happy to share. Somehow I don't feel ashamed of my art anymore, and I was for a long time. I improved so much in these weeks. I watched carefully almost all of your timelapses (I am in love with all of them btw) and followed your tutorials more than once. Your examples, the way you work, is just inspirational for me. I've seen someone was thankful to you for the way you use references and says people out there to do it too: I want to thank you for that too. References was a taboo until last month for me, and I was SO wrong! Those helps so much!

So, well. I am not sure I wrote this all correctly, english is not my native language (I'm italian) and I may have done some mistakes, well, I do not care. I just hope I was able to express you my gratitude for all you did for me - I had to let you know how much this means to me everyday.

Oh also: I love every part of your art, but I could stare at your linearts for days and never get bored by that. And the way you color! Don't make me start on that. I could speak for hours. Not sure you'll want that, believe me.

So, thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for making me believe in myself again. Thank you for giving me back my passion. Thank you for reminding me everyday I can draw for myself, for my own happyness. And thank you for making me happy.

some of the palworld redesigns are genuinely better than the original pokemon i hate ai art and as an artist i can tell when something looks like ai (it does not)

I don't think the actual legit models are ai art, I think they used the same concept of copy/paste/trace over with filter to make them. They didn't reinterpret similar concepts into a new style to make their own world in a familiar genre. They just recolored it like a old deviantart sonic OC.

For example, this is a wolf:

These are different ways artists have depicted wolves in a cartoonish style. Some emphasize ears, some teeth. Some are realistic, some are cartoonish. Some have heavy lineart and some have light.

This is a fucking recolored lycanroc. It's not a coincidence. There are millions of ways to stylize a wolf. This is what they came up with.

And I have heard tons of people telling me that some of the palworld designs are better and some are original and really good.

If they were capable of making good and unique designs, then they should have actually made ALL of them good and unique designs. So they have the ability, but are too lazy? That should make you *more* angry. Because instead of a new game with genuinely new and thought out designs, this is what they gave you.

I don't even know the names of these things. I typed in "palworld Eevee, Palworld Meowth, palworld luxray" because they're not inspiration take, these are direct knock offs of individual pokemon. Also like....they're legit less creative than the pokemon? It's just "what if eevee was an electric type, and lets make the cat more cat-like and the lion more lion-like"

2) Are a few good designs worth supporting a company that is showing other companies they can get away with ai-like low creativity and frankendolling designs together? Genuinely, truly. Would you even like that lion on the right if you didn't get attached to Luxray as a kid?

Baldurs Gate 3 won GOTY by being a smaller company who went beyond what most massive companies couldn't do. BG3 has blown DA4 out of the water and it hasn't even come out yet. BG3 is making big companies sweat because they proved that fans of games are fans of art, appreciate and recognize high quality, and that hard work and love for a passion project has benefits.

And people are shitting it all away for a couple weeks of "Pokemon with guns" simulator instead of, idk, modding ARK?

Also, I want to be clear. I am not advocating for copyrighting of art styles because that will be bad for everyone. I am begging and pleading people who are not artists and just consume content to appreciate the work that does into it so we don't end up with all of this for the foreseeable future. The layoffs are already happening and you'd not be wise to think that this wont include artists with AI imagery on the rise.

And if you are an artist, I really wish for you to look at this very critically, because our livelihoods are being threatened and you're paying for it to happen.

Fellow Artists:

I'm assuming we all have a passion for at least one part of the art-making process, yours might be drawing anatomy, or designing characters, or painting environments--but how do you deal with the parts that don't interest you as much or even at all? Those parts that are still crucial to the piece but don't give you the fun brain juice.

For example, I've heard a lot of people say they hate the lineart part of the process because it's boring (I myself find it incredibly satisfying and calming), so how do you get through that part? Do you just power through, or play mind games with yourself, or some other tactic to convince yourself to get it done?

And ESPECIALLY for those who used to hate certain parts but eventually learned to love the whole process: please, I beg of you, tell me how
