Yeah yeah linux having problems is a big joke but honestly have you considered that linux wouldn't run like shit if it didn't have to reverse engineer byzantine proprietary drivers and hardware architecture and deliberately hostile BIOS firmware and one thousand other things that exist solely to force everything that isn't a corporate OS to suffer miserably on every computer ever

As someone who is not technically savvy and who uses Linux because fuck Windows, I have a hot take that some programmers might not like: under no circumstances should the end-user of a program have to interact with the eldritch monstrosity that is github!

It's overwhelming, makes no sense, and absolutely should not be necessary for me to use your thing.

some newbie questions I'm thinking about and trying to figure out~~ cause even though I've been a linux user off and on for a bit I still consider myself a newbie.

what is systemd? should I avoid it? why all the hate?

cause "it doesn't follow the unix philosophy/is bloated/etc"

should I find a distribution that doesn't use it and install it and give it a whirl?

or should I try to install freebsd and give that a shot? I've thought about that for a while too but worry I'm not smart enough to get it to work....

and scared I'll break something and not be able to fix it~~ :(

surely there are linux distributions that don't use systemd~~ and hopefully they're just as easy to use as linux mint~~ but I've also tangled w fedora way back when..... so hopefully I'll get a handle on stuff and normalize it fast~~~

here is me failing to install Arch Linux 0.1 at 23:00. ft my untrained tranny voice, my shitty (greasy computer), and my messy bedroom.

I have some ideas as to why the install failed. those being (in order of most to least likely): I did something wrong when compiling Arch, I did something wrong when making the fstab, and I did something wrong when setting up the lilo.conf

If your wondering how I setup the GPU without an x16 pcie slot then your gonna hate me.

There is an MXM slot for a laptop GPU but those fuckers are expensive, so my train of thought was I can get a cheap x16 GPU so I just need to jam that fucker into it. So I did some digging on AliExpress and things, discovering you can take the mini Pcie slots for WiFi cards and jam a USB adapter in it, jerry rig that to a GPU extender.

All of this is shown below
