Steddie where Eddie moves into a small house in a retirement mobile home park. He is the youngest guy there and is pretty handy. All the old ladies in the neighbourhood start to talk about him when he begins to offer his handyman skills to them as well.
One day after finishing up winterizing Mrs. Harrington’s water supply to her trailer she invites Eddie inside for some tea to warm up. Winter hadn’t hit yet but it was already nippy out she told him. Once inside she invites him to come over Sunday night to join her and her friends ‘book club’. At first Eddie politely declines but once she explains to him that its all the old ladies in the neighbourhood sitting around drinking wine, smoking joints, and gossiping he’s in.
Enter Steve who visits his grandma every Sunday for dinner and sometimes stays for her gossip sessions with all the other bitties in the neighbourhood because the snacks are always great. Steve is surprised that week when the door bell rings and a hot long haired pierced man covered in tattoos is standing there instead of another old woman handing him her coat and cane. Steve sputters for a moment but then his grandmother is coming up behind him explaining this is the young man who fixed her water supply for her.
“Well um, thank you for that.” Steve nods awkwardly, watching over his shoulder as his grandmother waddled away back to her friends. “You didn’t have to come though, sorry if she twisted your arm about it, she’s stubborn.” He rubbed at the back of his neck with a small chuckle.
“It’s okay I really don’t mind.” Eddie smiled easily, inching his way into the house and Steve’s personal space. “Smoking weed with a bunch of old ladies and gossiping about my new neighbours sounds like a great way for me to spend my Sunday.” He winked.
“I- yeah it is pretty fun.” Steve agreed having not moved at all. “The snacks are always great too, you’ll have to try Betty’s blondie cake it’s always my favourite.” Steve leaned in to whisper conspiratorially.
Eddie beamed back at him, eyes roving all over Steve’s face before pausing at his lips for a second then darting back up to his eyes. “Lead the way then big boy.” Eddie bit his lip at how red Steve’s face got, he decided to push it slipping his hand into Steve’s.
“Yeah- uh sure yeah.” Steve nodded dumbly staring at their connected hands for a moment before snapping out of it and tugging Eddie along. “Everything is set up in the living room, I just got the fire going to so it should be warm.”
By the end of the night Eddie and Steve were melted into one another on a small single seater in the corner of the room. They watched as all the ladies gathered their coats one by one as their husbands came to collect them.
“It’s sweet.” Steve sighed unprompted, his head lolled against Eddie’s shoulder. Eddie made a questioning noise so he continued. “Seeing their husbands come walk them back home at the end of the night. They aren’t annoyed that their wives are giggly and a bit wobbly they are just happy they are happy and want to be there to take care of them.”
“You are a sappy stoner Steve.” Eddie teased, he moved his hand over and dropped it onto Steve’s thigh giving it a squeeze. “Can’t say I blame you though, it is very cute to see.” Eddie sighed before unsticking himself from Steve’s side and making his way to the door himself. “I better get going, no husband to come walk me home”. He blushed at the implication of his own words.
“I’ll be your husband.” Steve blurted then immediately turned red. “I mean- I meant that I uhum-“
“You can walk me home Steve.” Eddie smiled wide and teasingly. He looked his arm through Steve’s and tugged him through the door, waving goodbye to Mrs.Harrington with a promise to be back next week.
The walk was short considering Eddie was only 2 houses down and one across. They kept their arms looped the entire 3 minutes they walked, and once they reached the door Steve still hadn’t let go.
“Well goodnight.” Steve spoke first, ducking his head away. He took a deep breath then looked back to Eddie determination on his face when he spoke. “See you next week?”
Eddie smiled but shook his head, “I was hoping sooner, how does Wednesday sound?” He moved in closer his hand sliding down to Steve’s waist.
“Wednesday is great I love Wednesday.” Steve nodded frantically then cringed. “I mean I don’t actually love all Wednesday’s just this one because we are-“
Eddie cut his rambling off with a kiss. He leaned in and connected their lips, his free hand coming up to cradle the back of Steve’s head.
Steve melted into the kiss, his body going lax in Eddie’s hold, “Thanks for saving me from embarrassing myself further.”
“Anytime sweetheart.”

Hello!! Years ago you recommended an anatomy book you carried with you all the time and it really helped you... Can you please tell about this book again? Your art always inspired me <3 have a great day!!!
Of course! Since then I've actually picked up a few more books that are great for anatomy:
Classic Human Anatomy by Valerie L. Winslow This is probably the book I recommended years ago and it's excellent. It goes in depth into anatomical breakdown and how motor functions affect how the body looks visually with plenty of drawn visual references.
Anatomy for the Artist by Sarah Simblet This one includes both drawn and photographs of live models to visually explain anatomy. It even has a neat feature in each section where a translucent page with a drawing of the skeleton overlays the next page of a photograph of a real body. It really helps you visualize and understand how the different structures of the body line up and affect each other!
Morpho: Fat and Skin Folds by Michel Lauricella This book is essential. It does a phenomenal job of explaining how weight, fat, and age affect anatomy and express the variation of the human form. It's abundant in visuals and I highly recommend it!
The Body: Photographs of the Human Form by William A. Ewing I actually picked this book up from my artsy grandmother's collection haha. It isn't really an anatomy book per se, it's actually more focused on the art of photography but some of the poses included are very gestural and would be great to use as reference. Fair warning: some photos included in the book are disturbing! The "Estrangement" chapter specifically includes depictions of death, disease, and genetic deformities.
line-of-action.com I know this isn't a book at all but it's a wonderful resource that allows you practice some life/figure drawing! It even includes a setting that simulates the timing they use in an actual class setting. I highly recommend doing a session with friends! My friend and I do a call in discord and I share my screen of the website while we both draw off it. We even compare and critique each other's drawings after. It's a great way to learn and a lot of fun!
Hope these resources can help! Have a great day :)

A few days late, but I'm lazy...
My favourite books that I read during 2023!
I got really lucky this year, I read some ridiculously good books, to the point that I had a really hard time narrowing them down. And I cheated on a few and bunched them up so I wouldn't have to choose 🙃
I did more detailed assessments of the books in my month reviews, but for anyone that's interested in something I read, here's a quick description:
Annie: An Old-Fashioned Story by Thomas Meehan -- A novelization of the Little Orphan Annie story, close related to the film musical including references to the songs. A charming read that captures the enjoyment of the film but adds a lot more details into the struggles and hardships Annie would have gone through during life on her own in the Depression.
Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild -- Three girls from a poor family in London end up being welcomed to a ballet academy where they have the opportunity to learn not only how to dance, but to begin attending performances that let them earn money for their family. Follows the heart warming adventures of sisters with a nice balance of financial hardship and obligations during the Depression.
Camp Damascus by Chuck Tingle -- A possession horror based around religious trauma and sexual identity. Fantastic prose and genuinely chilling at points without ever feeling hopeless. Here the demons that start stalking people in this God-fearing Montana town are both metaphorical and literal.
A Christmas Story by Jean Shepherd -- A collection of radio stories that follow the childhood misadventures of Ralphie; these stories would go to make up the classic film A Christmas Story, and Shepherd's hilarious, clever prose makes it a very fun read whether you know the film or not.
Doctor Who: Scratchman by Tom Baker -- I actually read a number of pretty good Doctor Who novels this year (13 Doctors 13 Stories, Time Lord Fairytales, Silhouette) and even a Torchwood one (Skypoint) but Scratchman was probably my favourite of the lot. The Fourth Doctor, Sarah, and Harry find themselvese in a horror adventures as they try to defend a host of villagers against an invading force of evil, skeletal scarecrows that are attempting to infect the humans around them.
Dogsbody by Diana Wynne Jones -- The star Sirius is accused of killing another luminary and losing a powerful instrument called a Zoi. His sentence for this crime is to be stripped of his powers and cast down to earth, to spend one lifetime living in a humble, mortal form - that of a true dog. If he can survive and find the Zoi within that lifetime, he will be welcomed back to the cosmos.
Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire -- A novella that explores the rehabilitation of children who had been chosen, who found a doorway and stepped into another, strange world. Adventures done, they now need to acclimatize themselves to living in the rigid confines of the real world.
Grandpa's Great Escape by David Walliams -- A hilarious and surprisingly heart-warming story about a boy and his grandfather who was a flying ace during the war. With his mind beginning to fail him, the grandfather is sent to live at a sinister and definitely evil old folks' home. Only Jack can save him.
Hazel's Shadow by Nicole MacCarron -- Hazel has always been plagued by strange visions - the ability to see and speak to ghosts, as well as the knowledge of a strange, nameless horror living in her grandmother's house. Things come to a head though, when a sudden, zombie-like illness explodes through her town leaving only a few left alive, too many ghosts to count, enemies at every turn, and the shadow waiting for them.
Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree -- (as well as it's sequel that came out later in the year, Bookshops & Bonedust). This was such a pleasant, low-stakes, domestic fantasy about Viv, an orcish ex-mercenary who has decided she's tired of fighting and would rather settle down and open a coffeeshop. One of the sticking points being, of course, that no one knows what coffee is.
Love Beyond Body, Space & Time by assorted authors, anthology -- An Indigenous queer sci-fi anthology with a really excellent collection of stories, including an author I already knew and loved! The stories explore a wide range of gender, sexuality, magic, machines, and ways of being, I highly recommend picking it up!
A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske -- Robin, a young baronet, thought he was being shunted into the most out of the way and miserable public servant position imaginable. He expected things to be tedious but necessary. He did not expect to suddenly learn that magic is real and to be tangled in its machinations in a potentially lethal way.
(MDZS) Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu -- Rejoice, because the feared Yiling Patriarch, the necromancer terror who slaughtered thousands, is dead! And has been dead the past decade. And is now very, very confused to wake up in a new body that isn't his, in a room he's never seen before, and to be thrust into the middle of a murder mystery where everyone would want him dead if they were to learn his real identity.
Moominland Midwinter by Tove Jansson -- Moomins hibernate through the winter, that's how it has always been for them. So when young Moomintroll wakes and finds the rest of his family still fast asleep, he's left feeling lost and isolated in this new, strange, snow covered world beyond his door.
A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers -- (and its sequel A Prayer for the Crown-Shy) A very gentle, compassionate sci-fi novel that explores a world humans have created post-climate-crisis. Life is different, the past distant, and a young tea monk never expected to run into an actual robot, who had so long ago left humanity to live their own secluded life in the wilds. Now they're both struggling to answer the question "What do humans need?"
The Radium Girls by Kate Moore -- (and Kate Moore's other book The Woman They Could Not Silence) The Radium Girls is a narrative non-fiction book that looks at the lives of the girls who were paid to paint luminous watch dials using radium paint. It explores the horror, exploitation, and suffering that came from work place negligence and the world's gradual learning about what exactly radium can do.
Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston -- Presidential son and British prince are forced together for the sake of publicity - to prove that they don't actual hate each other and aren't going to cause a diplomatic incident. They cause a whole new and exciting diplomatic incident by falling in love! Do not read this for the politics, but it did end up being way way better than I expected, this author creates quite compelling characters.
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett -- Sour, spoiled, and ill Mary is sent to live with her distant uncle on the Yorkshire moors. Set to be as contrary and unhappy as possible, little by little Mary begins to come out of her shell as she experiences nature, play, and love for perhaps the first time in her life.
System Collapse by Martha Wells -- Newest Murderbot book!! Murderbot, ART's crew, and the humans from Preservation are doing their best to defend the colonists on a plant that's cursed with a strange, alien plague from being consumed by the more immediate threat of corporate slavery. Something, however, seems to be wrong with Murderbot and its worried that if it can't fix the problem soon, it may cost its humans their lives.
(TGCF) Heaven Official's Blessing by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu -- Xie Lian is a god. Was a good. He has ascended to godhood twice, and been banished back to earth twice. Once a favour among the gods, he is now a laughing stock, a scrap-collecting god who has been forgotten by almost everyone. So it is with some shock and exasperation to all involved when he ascends for a third time.
This Is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone -- A ridiculous poetic novella written through improbable letters that are written between two time travels on opposites sides of a time war. Seriously, this is probably the most beautiful book I read this year, go read it, the hype is justified.
Wave Me Goodbye by Jacqueline Wilson -- As World War Two rages, Shirley, like many children of the time, is sent from her home in London to be housed by a foster family in the country in order to avoid the Blitz. Put up with two boys in the strange, mostly empty Red House, Shirley has to find a new life for herself out in the country.
When The Angels Left The Old Country by Sacha Lamb -- Uriel the angel and Little Ash the demon find themselves drawn from their usual lives when a young girl from their shtetl goes missing after emigrating to America. Both with their own reasons for wanting to leave the old country, they set off on a sea voyage that will change everything for them.
Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame -- The classic stories of Rat, Mole, and Toad. The story begins when Mole, venturing out of his little burrow, meets Rat and winds up living with him in his little home by the river rather than returning to his own, lonely, little hole. From there they have a variety of domestic adventures over the seasons, most notable being Toad's ill-fated obsession with motor cars.

Re: Your Addams Family Post, I now have the mental image of Gomez pretty much adopting Hob as another brother/cousin/what have you. "Children! Met your new Uncle!"
It starts with the auction.
Hob doesn't think of himself as a collector, but he's also self-aware enough that his doing so is more of a defense mechanism than anything else. Because he does. He collects. He can't help himself -- so much of his life can only be traced backwards through the shapes he's left behind, his self, of a necessity, always needing to vanish into the background. He follows his own history through letters to Dear Robert Gadlyn, portraits painted with one of his hats in the background, an authentic Victorian jacket supposedly worn by Wilde himself, and which Hob vividly remembers shucking from Oscar's shoulders, leaving it to puddle forgotten on the floor while they'd kissed in sweet silence on the settee.
So when he gets an email from his friend Kev at Hansons, a "check this book out mate" sort of deal with an eyes emoji appended to it, Hob is already intrigued. Kev is good at finding him the more esoteric things for his not-collection, and hasn't steered him wrong before, and he's not disappointed when he opens the link to find a listing for a book. A book, specifically, from the 1600s. Being an Account of the Dread Pirate Sylvia, her Ancestors, her Descendants, and Her Pets, it says, though it's not the title that catches his eye so much as the provided scans of some of the pages. The handwriting is beautiful, flowing and elegant and heavy on the page, and it makes his heart ache for a time before keyboards and typewriters, when gorgeous penmanship could be counted as a virtue and not just a hobby. There are sketches of fantastical sea beasts, navigational maps, the most beautifully-rendered charcoal drawing of an orca he's ever seen, and.
And a drawing of him.
Not him as he was in 1699, when this was apparently written, but him in 1374. Him, younger, fresh-faced, just a slip of a beard still, his head tilted back, laughing. Great great etc grandmother's cousin, says a caption beneath it, in that same heavy and flowing hand. Late 1300s? Must track him down
Motherfucker, Hob thinks, and sends a few emails.
Twenty-four hours later, he's the proud owner of a fantastically well-preserved diary/travelogue/grimoire, having shelled out a significant amount of funds to even get the thing, on account of some American trying to outbid him at every turn. He's not surprised, then, when he gets an email shortly after his final bid has been locked in, from the rather posh-sounding [email protected]
The contents of the email, though. Are, to say the least, alarming.
I say my dear boy, it starts, I don't suppose we could come to an agreement as to a different price for Lady Penelope Addams' only surviving diary? If you're interested in antiques of rich and unusual history, I am certain I can provide. Only it contains one of very few references to a lost branch of our family, the Lady Penelope's great great etc grandmother and her kin, and I, being invested in genealogy, am eager to explore this hidden part of our family tree.
Absolutely not, Hob thinks, shutting his laptop with a click. Absolutely buggering bloody fuck not, he thinks, shoving a sweater into his suitcase, because it's winter, and it's Chicago, and he has no idea what sort of weather to expect. This is fucking insanity, he thinks, hands folded in his lap on the plane.
What are you doing? he asks himself, as the door to the grand gothic manor opens, and Hob, who has just trekked a portion of a mile through a swamp and had to kick an alligator to keep it from lunging at his suitcase, looks down at the man who had identified himself in emails as Gomez Addams, his. His relative. Somehow, far distant, but his.
"Robert Gadling," he says, with obvious relish, and Hob feels himself hooked by the crook of his elbow, hauled into the foyer with surprising force. "Come in! Come in! Children! Come meet your new uncle!"

Warnings: are tattoos even a warning? I know some people are squeamish so just in case. Fluff! Quaritch being all sweet. Talk of life experiences, loss of friends/pets.
(Y/N) drank down her water eagerly, finally relaxing after an intense work out session. Heading back to her room she collected her hygiene products, starting her shower. Once she stepped into the hot stream of water a sigh leaving her mouth as the relief the water brought her muscles.
Once completed with her shower she slipped into a towel, securing it around her chest. Picking up a bottle of moisturiser walking out into her sleeping area surprised to see Quaritch sat on her bed, waiting for her. He had done this before. Only when he needed comfort, she was simple to him. He knew exactly how he felt about her and that gave him a sense of great comfort. A chuckle left her lips as she walked past him rubbing some of the product over her arms paying special attention to the areas that held ink within the skin.
"I never asked" Quaritch spoke, eyes lingering on different parts of her body "Do your tattoos have meaning?" He was sat with his elbows braced on his knees, he was clearly interested, maybe even a little guilty he hadn't asked before in the previous month that the pair had been dating.
"Some" She smiled, "But not every tattoo has to be special-" She dropped the towel to attend to the rest of the her skin, once again paying close attention to her tattoos. "My first was kind of impulsive, I knew I wanted to get tattooed for a long time. One day I decided to say fuck it" She shrugged and opened her arm to him, showing small octopus on her forearm. "It's my favourite animal, this" She traced a larger floral design tracing up her right thigh and over her hip. "My great great grandmother used to tend to her garden daily, my grandmother pressed some of the flowers before things got really bad on earth. When I found the scrap book with the flowers I knew I had to get it"
"It's beautiful" He spoke in awe, she was naked, stood before him but all he could do was admire the art work that covered her skin.
"This" She leaned down running her thumb over the words 'whore' that were written above her knee "Was a dare from a friend, and honestly I regret it a little. But its funny"
"I don't get it" He was puzzled leaning forward to pull her towards him by her hips. A laugh left her lips.
"Whore, Knee" He rolled his eyes at the pun
"What were you, 17?" He shook his head chest rising and falling with a chuckle.
"18" She corrected. "I have several tattoos of show's and movies I watched growing up"
"What does this one mean" His thumb ran across a complex connection of knots over her lower abdomen, just above her pubic bone.
"Its Celtic, it's connected to femininity" He nodded understanding. His fingers dancing over different parts of her body, her shoulders, collar bones, neck and hands. Inquisitively asking the meaning behind all of them.
"Okay how about this one" He placed his lips against a solid black cat underneath her collar bone where the shoulder meets the chest. A hearty laugh left her lips.
"I was drunk, and I don't remember the logic but it had something to do with proving I had bigger balls that one of my friends." He laughed with her. "Tattoos, they are stories." She spoke "They detail you're life, explain growth and maturity and they don't all have to be special. But every one has a story behind it, they are made special by the people who do the work" she smiled placing a kiss on his nose "Plus I like the pain a little" A twinkle shone in his eye at the confession.
"Well I think you make the art work look way better" He began littering kisses down her chest. "You sweetheart are a work of art" She laughed embracing his affection.
"Plus tattoos are super hot, right" He hummed against her skin. licking and sucking leaving light bruises in his wake.
"You are so much hotter because you wear your body with pride, as you should" He moved his position to lay her down on the bed, smirking up at her as he kissed over the different tattoos covering the skin of her thighs and legs. "How about now?"
"What?" She giggled in confusion she looked down to see him wiggling his eye brows lips littering over her knee.
"Ya in the mood?"
"You mean am I Whore knee?"

Second-born daughters of Y/N Targaryen Aemon and Jocely Baratheon. Y/N Targaryen has Targaryen hair and Targaryen eye color. She is the rider of Ancalagon the Black. She has an excellent sibling relationship with Rhaenys. Y/N Targaryen and Otto have 5 sons and a daughter (maybe they have another daughter besides Alicent.) Except for Alicent, all the children are dragon riders. The children have their father's hair color and Targaryen eye color. She does not have a single Alicent (Targ) eye color. I think Viserys will be jealous of Otto because of the sons. Daemon will be jealous of Otto for marrying a Targaryen. I think Rhaenys will take the green side for her sister. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren are obsessed with their great-grandmothers. Aegon does not get drunk, Aemond's eye does not get injured for helping Aemond adopt a dragon, protects Helaena, Daeron gives the love he did not receive.
despitent alicent not claiming a dragon or not looking like a targaryen would not make you love her any less. you'd love your daughter all the same, refusing to hand her off to a wet nurse or let maids dress and tedn to your daughter. up until she was five years old, you bathed her yourself. always doting on your daughter and giving her so many jewels and books. she was the apple of your eye. You loved your sons just as much, nursing them yourself when they were babies and being there for them always.
when alicent became queen, you almost lashed out at your husband. could he not have thought of alicent for a single second? how she felt marrying a man nearly three times her age? whose daughter was her best friend? otto managed to calm you down but nothing could stop you from moving to the red keep to be near your beloved daughter.
you didn't hate your cousin viserys or his daughter rhaenyra, they were dragons but you had always been closer to your older sister and she, you. She had your support from the beginning.
You held her many nights as she sobbed into your arms and struggled to maintain her composure. "We do what we must, as women, you sweet girl." You had told her and she had taken those words and locked them in her heart.
It went without saying that you adored you grandchildren. You doted on all four of them heavily. there was nothing you would not do for your grandchildren, that's why it angered you to see viserys only pay attention to rhaenyra.
You understood that he had loved Aemma. You understood that Rhaenyra was his daughter from her but that did not give him the right to disregard his other children and even yell at them then act like he cares.
just like you had done with alicent, you took joy in braiding helaena's hair. you went with her often when she looked for bugs for her collection.
you kept aegon away from alcohol. you kept him in his studies, encouraging to do better. "if the stress is too much, take to Sunfyre, or come to me. You are more than anyone knows, my lovely boy."
when it came to Aemond, you were much more overprotective. You knew that Aegon and rhaenyra's son teased him for not having a dragon. it did not make him less in your eyes but the words of boys are cruel.
"Don't pay any attention to them." You had told him once as you brought him to visit your own dragon. "You will have a dragon one day and everyone will swallow their words like bitter poison."
you never acted out, always being the perfect lady but inside you couldn't help but despise rhaenyra and her children for the insult to laenor and your sister. you took care to be around them as little as possible, constantly doting on your family and showering them with love.

Hello, sorry if you’ve already said this before, but where are you finding your folk songs? like a specific book or website? (i’m always looking to expand my collection and i have never heard of long lankin before)
thanks in advance :D
Hey!!
So originally I just got folk songs from ones I heard growing up, because my dad was fond of folk music & played me a number of bands I'm still fond of. A lot of ones I come across now are still basically from rabbit holes of songs I fell down with these.
However! If you're looking for more thorough catalogues of folk songs, the main ones you come across are:
Child Ballads -- These are only ballads. They were collected by Francis James Child in the 19th century, and they're all numbered, so if you've seen songs mentioned as like "Child 93" that's why, especially because a lot of these songs don't have consistent names. They're primarily collected in his 5 Volume book The English and Scottish Popular Ballads (Vol. 1, Vol. 2, Vol. 3, Vol. 4, Vol. 5), linked there to where you can read it for free. The great thing about these is it will list all the variations of the songs he found as well as where he found them, with a little scholarly discussion of the song and its history on each. As someone that loves like. the process of transmission & the context of songs this is very appealing to me personally. It is old fashioned in its scholarship etc though.
Roud Folk Song Index -- This is a Much larger more modern index of songs: for comparison there are only 305 child ballads, whereas the Roud Index has nearly 25,000 songs (including all the Child ones). These also have numbers, so you'll often see something like "Child 93; Roud 6" where they overlap, or "Roud 2989" where they don't. Obviously because it's so big there's no book for them all, and likewise not as much commentary on individual songs. You can search them by number here, or by subject (!!!) here. The fact that this index exists is really cool, and especially that you can search it like that, although sometimes I find it a bit hard to get what I want, or have it layed out as clearly as in Child, I think just because it's so big.
This isn't really a major index like Child and Roud so you won't get it cited anywhere, but Mainly Norfolk is an index of folk songs mainly focusing on more modern recordings of the songs and their different variations. So for example you'll get a page for a songs and it'll tell you all the bands that have recorded it, and the differences in their lyrics, and what they said about the song on the back of the CD, etc. Which is fun for me particularly because I'm often accessing them through having listened to modern recordings and I'm curious about that.
You can also find various collections of broadsides and things (Roud includes a lot of broadsides I believe but if you want to look at them specifically), one of my favorites is the Bodleian Libraries online collection, which even has images of a lot of them I believe. This is fun if you like print sources.
And then a lot of these I'm just searching in Youtube as well, haha. You never know what old man recording a song he heard from his grandmother with 10 views and 2 likes you might find.
I hope this was helpful & answered the question! I will say I don't have any sort of expertise in this, it's entirely based on me just fooling around, so if anyone more knowledgeable than me has anything to add or any corrections to make feel free!

1! 6! 11! 25! 26! 33! 41! 42! 48! 52! 54! 69! hoo boy that's a lot. also how's 30s
hi! oh wow that is a lot. enjoy??? (for the 30s ask meme)
gonna answer the last thing first because honestly i've loved my 30s, and since i'm going into my final year of them it seems apt to reflect. i figured out i was queer like a month before i turned 30, so my 30s have been about queerness and community, about taking risks on things that previously i thought i were too old for. i moved cities and careers, i got a masters degree, i found sooooo much friendship and interests and hobbies and got every single one of my tattoos. i am more myself now than i have ever been before. i used to joke that i had been waiting my whole life to turn 30, but i think that was true actually. getting older rules.
What was the first piece of furniture you bought?
off with a BANG. i think it was probably a knock-off saarinen tulip table i got from craigslist when i was in grad school the first time, long long ago. i think the guy had found the base (which may in fact be genuine) and he built a wooden top for it. it's lovely and i think i paid $100 for it. we don't have room for it in the current house (it's dining room sized, about 5 ft across), so it's hiding in my aunt's basement for now.
6. Most precious thing one of your pets has destroyed?
this wasn't actually one of mine, but my parents' dog punkin. the first and only thing i won at auction was a poster for the 1976 50th anniversary of the 1925 exposition des artes decoratifs (which cemented the art deco style and later contributed its name), and punkin ate it. i can still barely talk about it. looked like this:
Tumblr media
11. What’s something you saved up for and then regretted buying?
weirdly the first thing i think of is an inflatable chair i got from kb toys in the mall when i was a kid. i thought that thing was going to change my life. it didn't. i cried. my mom helped me return it.
25. Favorite old person activity?
playing solitaire with real cards. when i was a kid, while the rest of us were rolling in the sand and getting our teeth knocked out by waves at the beach, my grandma would sit inside and play solitaire. one year i joined her. she taught me SO many varieties of solitaire and i remember em all.
26. Would you rather sit on the porch drinking sweet tea or sit by the lake drinking beers?
i don't drink alcohol so sweet tea gets my vote. lake vs porch really depends on the breeze situation, but most likely lake. i love a body of water.
33. What’s something you collect?
edward gorey books, including paperbacks he did covers for. also linda ronstadt records
41. What’s the oldest thing you own?
i don't know! i have a lot of old furniture i inherited or found in thrift stores so i really don't know how old any of that is. it might be a ring that belonged to my great-grandmother. it probably dates to the mid-19th century.
42. What’s an unjustifiably expensive appliance that you really want?
a roomba! which is unjustifiable in part because of the weirdness of our house. but how will we know until we try it!
also: this coffee grinder (unjustifiable because we have a perfectly good one already but this one is red) and this milk pan.
48. If you could build your home from scratch, what outrageous feature would you want to build into it?
A CONSERVATORY!!! i want a glasshouse i want to fill it with plants and enjoy the OUTSIDE while INSIDE. that's the dream.
but also like. so many secret passages.
52. Did your relationship with your parents get better when you stopped living with them?
i think it got worse, actually.
54. Do you decorate your house for holidays? Which ones?
i decorate the yard for halloween (full graveyard babey), but any spooky decorations that go up inside the house usually become permanent. we don't have room for anything more than stockings in the current house, but i put christmas lights up on the porch and around a doorway inside.
69. What are you looking forward to next week?
my paycheck lol

I was gonna draw out tiny little sketches of these but fuck it idgaf
Here's some 𔓘⭒๋࣭ ⭑Lottie lore/headcanons 𔓘⭒๋࣭ ⭑because she's my favorite character to think about right now.
Tumblr media
Lottie has this uncanny fight or flight response to where 2 things will happen. 1: If you make her scared or frightened by accident or on purpose she will gain the strength of a 800lb gorilla and beat you're ass to atoms. Or 2: She will book it like Usain bolt, straight up Tom and Jerry yo ass. Nobody, and not even herself knows why - or how she does this.
Lottie is canonicaly friends with the Devil, yes... Satan, Lucifer himself. She frequently summons him to "dispose off'" her more embarrassing fanfics. They have BFF bracelets :)
Lottie enrolled to school after the school shootings happend.
Lottie whole big story arc is her overcoming her shyness and getting together with Darnell, she's just taking baby steps right now though.
Lottie really likes to bake, from cookies, to cakes, you name it and she's really good at it. One time, she made these Chocolate bon bons for Pico n' gang and they loved them so much, that after they were doing eating the whole fucking bag, they asked for more. Lottie, however, declined their offer because its was her great, great, grandmother recipe and her mom only just passed it down to her. (So just think of that one fosters home episode with Ms. Foster's cookies, and Pico, Nene, and Darnell as Frankie)
Her favorite drink is milk and honey tea (that one drink from ponyo, goated movie btw)
Pico is currently training Lottie to become stronger.
Lottie has the fanfic writer curse so like, ever other month or so, she'll get into these batshit insane adventures, (aka getting jumped by über kids for no damn reason)
Lottie doesn't like to cuss or lie.
Lottie was raised in the "nicer parts of Philly" (aka the suburbs)
She stutters alot.
When she's nervous, she'll usually fidget with her knuckles or comb her fingers though her hair, or worse, pull on it (but that's only when she's in distress)
Out of everyone, Lottie is the most normal girl in there school, she basically sticks out like a sore thumb.
Lottie doesn't like hurting/killing other people, she just does it out of self defense, she'll feel bad immediately afterwards and mourn them, no matter how dangerous they were.
Lottie likes My Little Pony. (We stan a proud pegasister) her favorite is fluttershy :3
Lottie writes some of the most, gut wrenching, toe curing, uterus clenching smut you will ever see.
Despite that, Lottie isn't all that dirty minded. In fact, she'll get embarrassed if she even thinks about it.
She loved collecting Cute stuffed animals, and useless knick-knacks. She also likes wearing cute clothes.
She likes to illustrate, her artstlye is based off of Strawberry shortcake/ Shojou Manga/ MLP.
Lottie completely lacks social intelligence, making her seem awkward and clumsy to others.
Lottie learned how to bandage up other people since becoming friends with Pico (and also nene I guess but she doesn't really know if their friends or not and she's to scared to ask)
She tired weed once and she got so fucked up that she cried for hours until she passed out (blame pico)
She's a couple inches taller than Pico.
She's a bit clueless but she's very academically smart.
Shoutout to the two, maybe three people who's actually gonna see this and care about my oc's :]

i sent a long with citations response to the strawberry shortcake post but hello! historical food enjoyer?? :)
YEAG
mostly from a standpoint of ‘i like seeing how foods have evolved and spread and adapted, and Why’ esp with a focus on where a food Originated from and then going from there, but not quite as much specific-recipe-based
MOST of my knowledge is specifically soups and stews bc I am obsessed with them and I am on a quest to collect as many recipes as possible. one of my favorites will always be a traditional Hungarian goulash that takes, like, eight million hours to cook/hyp
Food is very important to me (very very large family who are all very very big on cooking and baking) and it sort of merged with my interest of history
Also-I was gonna reply On the strawberry shortcake post abt it but figured I shouldn’t further clog OP’s notifs lmfao. so, my thoughts on the strawberry shortcake thing (putting a readmore bc this about to get long cause I’m full of Words):
Good Housekeeping 1933 is one of my own sources-it’s one of the few actual Book cookbooks we have in my house, but I do admit that most recipes I know for shortcake are handwritten ones we keep in one of the two Very Large Binders Full Of Recipes (of varying degrees of age-some are no older than 20 and some are from my great great grandmother) collected by my mother from culinary classes, family members, etc.
Some of the recipes (both my own collection and your citations) I do sort of raise my eyebrows at (no sweetening at all????? Bestie what?? bro must be throwing a shitload of strawberry on that thing)
Before this post I genuinely didn’t know people used Straight Up Actual Biscuits for strawberry shortcake, whcih prompted me to go looking through the recipes (I did in fact find a few that were definitely more of a biscuit and one that was just. Muffin as a substitute??? I guess????) and also take a look into the general history of shortcake, & strawberry shortcake
I’ve usually only ever seen them actually made with just normal cake (never has the right texture imo) or with actual shortcake
So what I’m Gathering is:
there seem to be three types of strawberry shortcake: regular cake, just a biscuit, and actual shortcake.
As the name suggests, it should be made with actual shortcake; a type of cake characterized by a thick dough-like batter and crumbliness similar to a biscuit. The ‘short’ part is in reference to the high amount of fats(typically butter) which give it the crumbling texture, which it has in common with biscuits/scones. But, traditionally, shortcake IS made with eggs and sugar, and is still a batter rather than dough (if you have achieved dough then you have in fact just made a really sweet biscuit). To me, biscuits, shortcakes/shortbreads, and scones are all just siblings. They’re very similar but they’re still they’re own separate things.
I believe the earliest shortcake recipe we know is from a 1588 English cookbook; it reached popularity the in the early 1600s(largely due to a Shakespeare play, in fact! In “The Merry Wives of Windsor”, there is a character named Alice Shortcake!). Strawberry shortcake itself was a popular type of fruit & shortcake dessert by the time of the Victorian era, and then becoming popularized in America (they used to have straight up strawberry shortcake PARTIES apparently! as a celebration of the fruit harvest in summer!! That’s sick as fuck I wanna do that!!! I think some places might still do it but I do not think it’s any around here lmfao)
also fun fact June 14 is national strawberry shortcake day
Anyways. Um yeah that’s it for my shortcake knowledge. do you have a favorite soup?

The Great Depression
It’s odd to admit that The Great Depression fascinates me, especially since it was a dark period in American history. But it does fascinate me, enough so that I’ve written several short stories and a couple novels (unpublished) based in the era. How people lived, what they ate, how they entertained themselves – most of all how they survived that period – it intrigues me.
Tumblr media
Following WWI, during the Roaring Twenties the economy and America thrived. The present and future appeared bright. A few economists predicted that the good times couldn’t last forever, but the world paid little attention. Throughout 1929, there were signs of a slowing economy, and then on October 24th – what is now known as Black Thursday – the stock market crashed. In the following weeks, it was confirmed that the perpetual party of the 1920’s was over and that a new, bleak era was being ushered in.
Tumblr media
For the next decade, America and the rest of the world endured the Great Depression. Images of bank closures and people lined up for soup kitchen often crop up in the history books and on the internet. As well as the famous photograph of the careworn mother and her children. My four grandparents lived through the Great Depression and that part of their lives affected their experiences and behavior. Even late in life, they couldn’t shake off those memories. Growing up, I heard countless stories of those days. My grandmother, Margaret, was very candid about the past. She would have just turned twelve when the stock market crashed and she would have been sixteen in 1933, which was considered one of the worst years during the Depression. Her memories were vivid, painting a picture that the history books couldn’t. She was the third of six children – her eldest brother died as a baby – her father was a boiler maker and her mother a housewife. They were a loving Christian family, which is what I believe brought them through the hardest of times. Grandma and her family never went hungry, however, there were many times they didn’t know they’d make ends meet. Yet somehow, they always did.
Tumblr media
Hobos would show up on their back porch. A picture of a cat had been drawn on their fence, signaling to other hobos that a kind lady lived there. And my great-grandmother, Edith, was kind, feeding whoever was hungry. If great-grandpa, Charles was present, the visitor would be welcomed in the kitchen to eat and for a nice conversation. Charles always had a job, unfortunately he didn’t always have work and was often sent home. By 1933, his health began to fail and two weeks before Margaret’s sixteenth birthday, he died. Extended family planned to help, by splitting up the family. So-and-So would take Margaret, So-and-So would take Bettie, So-and-So would take Russel…but Edith was adamant: “We may starve together, but we will stay together.” For the remainder of the 1930s, they banded together to survive.
Tumblr media
The weather seemed to turn against the country as well. Dust storms struck all over America, costing lives and ruining livelihoods. It soon became known as the Dust Bowl. Lightening accompanied the storms, and folks would hang chains off the bumpers of their cars to prevent them from being stuck. If caught in a dust storm, one would have to cover their face with a cloth and walk backwards against the gusts. Houses had to be shut up tight, windows closed and key holes plugged to prevent the dust from seeping in. But old houses had their crevices and dust would get in somehow. Decades later, Margaret and others who lived through the Dust Bowl, out of habit would place cups and bowls upside down in the cabinets because that is what they did to prevent dust from collecting on their dishes.
Tumblr media
Clothing was rarely store bought. Dresses were made from stylishly printed feed sacks, using patterns, and sewn by hand, or by sewing machine. Sweaters and cardigans were knitted or crocheted. Shoes were worn at work and school, but at home if the weather was seasonable, they went barefoot to preserve their shoes. Clothing was patched and mended and passed from one sibling down to another, then onto another family. Like many of that era, Margaret left high school early to work. She was first a maid, then she worked in a number of factories. Her earnings of $4 a week went to the household. Later during WWII, when she earned $16, she was allowed to keep $4 for herself, and felt she was rich.
Tumblr media
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was elected president and was eventually voted into office three more terms, holding the position until his death in 1945. After Herbert Hoover, who was oblivious to the suffering of the American people, many trusted Roosevelt would lead the nation through the dark times. His New Deal, his relief programs, his steadiness, his fireside chats were a beacon of hope. His assurances that they had “nothing to fear but fear itself” spoke volumes. Despite his attempts to alleviate the financial woes and troubles of the 1930s, the US didn’t rise out of the Great Depression until the onslaught of WWII.
Years later, Grandma told me that her life had been a hard one, but it had been good and satisfying. I believe many of that era would say as much. I don’t know if it is the Great Depression that is my favorite era, or if it’s the people who lived during that time. They possessed an indomitable spirit. After the Great Depression, they endured WWII and more or less saved the world. That generation proved to us that whatever trials we may face today, this too shall pass.

FALLOUT 4 HEADCANON MASTERPOST
two and a half years ago (👀) I posted a list of headcanons right around when I started playing around with the ideas in my fallout WIP
I've decided they ( 1 + 2 ) need to be updated and added to especially after Death Shroud gave me so many great ideas/things I want to steal. Added break to save you dash my loves <3
I will keep adding to this lmao
SECTIONS:
Death Shroud Stuff I'm Kidnapping
Misc Stuff From Asks, Mods, and My Brain (AKA THE LONGEST SECTION)
From #1 (Link Here)
We are keeping chair bound Murphy
I may or may not be recanting my gangly tall 'n thin Hancock HC. I oscillate wildly between wanting him to be Eldritch God™ tall and "gimme uppies! :3" short. He may end up being both. His height will be whatever is funniest for the bit.
oh yeah Sarah Lyons got merc-ed B)
We are still kicking with Kellogg in Nicky's skull but with the added angsty-ness brought in by Death Shroud. Oh the plot! Oh how it hurts so good! Kellogg wanting to find someway to punish the SoleSu(s) and Nick for picking through his memories? Ugh! Give me it all.
We are cutting Billy and the Fridge. I don't want to deal with the nightmare plot holes it will bring up and Quincy will already have enough BS. Plus the more I think about it the less I like the whole quest and its placement. Fuck! Maybe he'll be referenced in Publick Occurrences? I don't care! We're loosey goosey bay-be!
- 10. can stay. I have no issues with them and nothing funny to add
From #2 (Link Here)
Now I can bring up my beloved Vault-Tec Rep. Him in the Death Shroud? Perfect. Beautiful. Stunning. I no longer have to call him Paul Eiding as a very direct nod to his VO. Our Beloved David Dwecker is married to Sheffield and they have a house in Sanctuary filled with Nuka-Cola memorabilia (for Sheffield) and collectable plates (the kind grandmothers display for our lovely Rep). They have a little sitting area set up in the carport where they hangout, smoke, and dance together to Diamond City Radio. I need this for my mental health okay?
Shaun being Autistic is something I really want to explore. I truly forget who I first saw say this but it is not an original idea by any means. I also think the poor thing would have some level of trauma from everything so exploring that is gonna be fun! (no it will not oh my god I'm going to dredge up all my childhood issues.)
OHHHH CHRISTMAS. YULETIDE. FEAST OF ST. NICHOLAS. I find the "Seth Patrick" bit SO funny in Death Shroud so that is staying but also I feel like the feast of St. Nicholas got jokingly flipped into a celebration of Nick Valentine (Same with Valentine's Day) and people are beginning to forget the correct version. Nick tolerates it with an eye roll and a wry joke about people needing to read their history books but secretly finds the whole thing funny. Ellie has a santa suit for Nick to don during "his" holiday. Also the school children in Diamond City send Nick "Valentines" on valentines day and he displays them on his corkboard.
Music. My god the Johnny Guitar bit had me by the throat during Death Shroud. Expand those music libraries! Before you know it I'm gonna give Travis a rolling ladder attached to bookcases upon bookcases of records and holotapes. I want to hear people complain about how many Andrews Sisters records survived and God why won't Travis stop playing them!
The Flavor of Goodneighbor needs to be so complex. Like a good pasta sauce. I better be so overcome by the layers and smells and textures. Better Goodneighbor and Better Third Rail are really good starts but I'm expanding the shit out of both of them I think. I want to feel like Goodneighbor truly is dangerous to be in. Being able to cross most of the town in one sprint burst isn't cutting it Bethany Esda! Make it truly baffling how Hancock knows so much about the happenings in his town.
- 8. are about the BoS and I stand by them. You will get to meet my Lone Wanderer and learn about the hierarchies a little better. I redesigned the Orders and added one I think? I have to re-sort those notes lmao. Also the piloting thing is like MAJORLY important to me because the frequency of vertibird crashes in game pissed me off to no end.
From Death Shroud (@chadfallout76podcast THANK YOU)
Danse is just... Like That now. I can't wait to explore his character before and after Blind Betrayal especially because he will not be leaving the Brotherhood and he will still be Like That. [spoiler warning ;) for my story lol] I can't wait for the beautiful moments that will be born of it.
I actually kind of love some of the plot points in Death Shroud like the Mob Family wars? Staying 100%. Same with Ma and Boss Lombardo and some of the other families.
As is Charlie but I refuse to let him die. I got very attached to Charlie and his death was so perfect but this time he gets to stay alive dammit.
Magnolia sending Magnolia flowers with her letters? Genius
Vault-Tec Rep (David my beloved) being the saddest, wettest cat of a man imaginable when he's in Goodneighbor? Also fucking genius.
"Fish-lips" Malone being part of the same family as Skinny has me so excited for more mob family bullshit.
Ruffino's and the Black Rose is being transplanted somewhere and maybe might be near the Combat Zone. New den of sin anyone?
Obviously I'm not going to attempt to pull apart the fabric of reality in-canon but my god Death Shroud was fun <3
Some new Misc HCs
Diamond City is bigger and more populated, kind of in the same vein as the Goodneighbor HC. I haven't found a mod layout I like so I might end up redesigning it (Please kill me)
This is an old one from an ask! Hancock will help work the bar at the Third Rail occasionally. He's a notorious show off and his cocktails are mainly just straight liquor but he entertains the hell out of people when he dives over the bar to take orders and bother Whitechapel Charlie. There are major losses on nights he bartends due to the fact he forgets (sometimes purposefully) to take payment. Regulars know to put the cash in the tip jar so Whitechapel can collect it at the end of the night.
Another thing I'm keeping from an ancient ask, Danse wants kids. Badly. And the crushing blow of being sterile really fucks with him for a while. but he eventually comes to terms with it. He's also still touchy (as in he's always touching his partner) per that ask because I think that's cute.
I'm just going through old asks now lmao. Nick and Ellie dance together like the true father-daughter pair they are
I forgot who drew this but I once saw someone pair Sturges and Ellie together and that is the cutest damn thing so it stays.
MacReady got the Lone Wanderer's Grognak magazine as a gift for letting them into Little Lamplight and it's one of his prized possessions.
Macready and the Lone Wanderer's reunion is very cute my dudes.
More general slice of life stuff like fishing on the mainland and boats, more things to do in general, transportation, cool amputees, and other shit listed in this post I reblogged YEARS ago
OH Travis and Scarlett get married <3
Danny Sullivan skips town after taking the fun way down from the mayor's office and travels with some cross country caravans before coming back to work in Diamond City. YES HE LIVES!
Holy fuck i forgot I had this mod but the Institute projects the sky up on their ugly concrete dome because this mod fucks hard
Just the general vibe of raiders employing children and stringing more dead mutilated bodies about. There are mods for that and let me tell you they make the raider camps horrifying. No I will not be linking them. But they are available on Nexus should you want them.
Okay I'm changing the layout of everything apparently: Including but not limited to the Railroad HQ, The Prydwen, Vault 111, etc. Fuck game design I guess lmao. I like XFreakish's Railroad Redone and NordKitten's A Sensible Prydwen Overhaul for in game and basically plan to build off of them.
The asks: Hancock bartending, Danse wanting kids and being into physical affection, Nick and Ellie Dancing + MacReady and the LW's Grognak (same ask)
