I watched Starship Troopers tonight.

#personal #dumb #my art #immediately after finishing i was pumped to watch some analysis vids on it #cuz i heard a lot of the drama about the original author being a pro military fascist and the director going “fuck that” and making a satir #scrolling through youtube search results was not promising. lots of male film buffs i would Not trust even on a first glance.#“The Critical Drinker” (pfp of a bearded man drinking alcohol) lol.#and then I saw cinemawins did a video on it and was like oh nice i haven't seen his stuff in a while but he's a pretty leftist creator #scrolled through the comments #second panel face #this sucks i'm outta here.#just leagues and leagues and leagues of anime pfps and right leaning people dogpiling on him for “not understanding what fascism is”#idk it's pretty alien and weird to me watching this movie and going “wow yeah that was pretty obvious huh” like literally the from opening #to the teacher preaching militance and only giving voting rights to “those who serve their nation first and earn it”#and then seeing droves of people online going #WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? It's not anti-fascist and even if it was it's #the director's fault for desecrating heinlein's incredible sci-fi epic vision. ermm media literacy is dead.

As I begin my umpteenth rewatch of fullmetal alchemist brotherhood I am once again reminded about how amazing it is that this show actually exists in the form that it does like can you imagine if a show like fmab was released today an almost 100% faithful adaptation of the source material not squeezed into 8 or 10 or 12 episode blocks so it can fit a season but given just the right amount of episodes needed to tell the complete story start to end

#fullmetal alchemist #fma #fmab #and i know some people do have issues with the beginning #as they speed it up #and took out some stuff #as theyd already adapted it in the og anime #but i am not one of those people #mostly bc i like the og anime #i think its worth a watch if you haven't already #but yeah just thinking like outside of how amazing the story of fma is #the way it was adapted #even after it was already adapted once #and people liked the og anime at the time #but they still went we can do better #fullmetal alchemsit brotherhood

The urge to watch W*A*L*T*E*R and rewrite it so that Radar becomes a Zoo Keeper instead of a cop. I've read the plot summary of the pilot and a review and I have thoughts.

My hatred for cops aside, I just physically cant see him being a police officer?? Hes too big hearted and soft.

Let him be a clerk for a zoo while hes studying to be a proper keeper. You can keep the part about him not being able to be a farmer cause he cant bring himself to sell the animals that's fine. Let him be a zoo keeper!! Please please please he'd love it I'm sure!

Recently the dungeon meshi craze hit my friend group and they were all really surprised when I said I was reading the manga instead of watching the anime so now I'm curious:

this is really a testament to the fact that you don't actually have to change much of your appearance, general mannerisms or accent to perfectly embody completely opposing characters

#this is what you call range #he looks nearly the same #but it's still really hard to imagine it's the same person #10th doctor #kilgrave #doctor who #jessica jones #david tennant #he's an acting chameleon FFS #he actually is though #I mean even if you haven't watched either you can see the pure joy in one face and the pure evil in the other #on a side note i love how they just gave him a suit and combed his hair but kilgrave is still the most terrifying marvel villain #no CGI no special effects no over the top displays of power needed #and basically gave the doctor just sticky up hair #and that was enough to embody a 900 year old alien #who was very animated and also perfectly embodies how otherworldly the character was while still having character depth and relatability #thank you for coming to my TED talk guys
