Jake’s pov
“So ummm…..I was told to vlog my day to day stuff. Guess to keep record of things I do and not lose my shit on this planet” Jake tells himself on camera. It has been a few hours since he woke up from his cryo sleep. His body ached, felt like a statue from not moving for 5 years.
“This is year is 2154….those fuckers lied. It's been 7 years since I left Earth for this jungle gym crap. 7 years felt like nothing. My baby girl, probably in her preteen years right now. I wonder how she is doing. I wouldn't blame her if she hates me, no scratch that. She is incapable of hate. Maybe mad, yeah. But not hate. I want this mission to be done and over with.”
Tumblr media
Jake’s pov
“First day in my avatar…gotta say, it felt fucking amazing. I was able to breathe the native air! Best part, I can run! WOOHOOO! YES! Oh man, never in my life have I felt this amazing. Though I did get carried away. When I woke up in my new body, the excitement got to me. I ran almost all over the fields, the basketball court, the botanical gardens, it felt great. Almost got in trouble but grace was there to save my ass”
“Still have to adjust to this body, grace is giving me a week to get used to it. I am not the only one though, there is a weird guy named Normal Spellman. Nerdy but otherwise cool. He is the one who studies alongside with tommy. Good pals I can only imagine. He just got his avatar too”
“I bet if my baby girl was here, she would be surprised. With everything really. Maybe a bit scared. Would enjoy it no doubt. Learn how this planet works. I cant help it. I wonder what she is doing. Is she making friends? Doing good in school? So many things. But I know the sooner I get this mission done, the sooner I get home to her”
“Gotta rest now, got a big day tomorrow, this is Jake Sully, singing out”
Tumblr media
Jake’s pov
“Colonel Quaritch, tough and kinda scary guy but he keeps people safe here. As safe as it can get on this planet. Met him in the brief meeting as a welcome home type of talk. But, weirdly enough, I admire him. He seems to know what he is doing and how to do it. Said he has a special mission for me, didn't say what yet but to expect a visit from him soon”
“I can worry about that later. Tomorrow starts a new mission. Get samples from more remote areas of the forest. Norm was given a special task. Try to make a peaceful contact with the aliens here. Na’vi is what they are called. Grace gave me a brief on them. Some important figures too. Guess they have a system of rulers here. Like the old native tribes back on Earth. My missions is to guard and make sure grace and norm get what they need”
“I will be honest, does not seem too bad. Was given the ok to shoot any possible threats. Practice with the guns, proud to say I have not lost my aim. It is getting late but I still have to do this. Does keep my mind busy, recalling the day’s events. I am starting to get into a routine”
“After shutting off the camera, I look at the picture of me and my daughter. I would stare at it for a while until my eyes drop. See this? It was the day I won a little toy for her at an arcade. She was so happy. Not often was I able to give her something new. Hopefully the paychecks are getting funded for her needs. I bet she is getting nice, brand new things”
“So many birthdays I missed. Im so sorry baby girl, but I promise, the second I go back, I will give you the biggest hug ever. Buy you all the gifts you could ever want, hell, if the pay is that good, get a better place. Maybe close to your favorite park that you like to play in. Better yet, go to the zoo like you always wanted. I know you will be much older but I dont care. You are my baby girl for life. Nothing is going to change that”
“Guess now I better log off. Big day tomorrow, this is Jake Sully, signing off”
Tumblr media
Jake’s pov
“Things didn't go right during the mission and I was split up from grace and norm. A giant weird animal, thana-something called by grace, deadly, found us. Had his eyes on me, grace told me to run so I went the opposite direction of where those to were, to not get them in the crossfire. Seriously, that animal was huge, but I guess by some miracle, a bigger animal came into view. Like in those old nature documentaries, the two giants began to fight. Either way, I made a run for cause I know it was not going to end pretty”
“I got lost along the way, had no idea where I was or how far I was from the crew. Took me sweet time though. Admiring the pretty sights that Pandora had to offer. Felt like a kid again. Everything was bright, colorful, alive. I can see why the RDA wants to use the resources here. Crazy to think that Earth was one like this. Green, healthy, breathing”
“Of course somewhere along the way I lost myself even more, lost my gun. Had to make a spear then turn it into  a torch because night came. Now night time felt like a whole different world. Everything glowed, pretty almost neon colors illuminated the plats. Some small creatures also glowed. Sad that I couldn't appreciate it enough. Got attacked”
“Freaking hyena looking animals, running in a pack. The fire helped create a distance as I ran but they were too many, though I was done for. My ass got saved by an unlikely person”
Tumblr media
Jake’s pov
“Neytiri, princess of the Omatikaya clan. Scary lady but she saved me. Called me a baby, and told me that I have a strong heart. Stuff happened and next thing you know, I am in their home base. Word passed and neytiri was tasked to train me. Teach me their ways. I am where the RDA needs me to be. It is now only a matter of time. Give the Colonel what he wants, give grace what she wants. It is a win-win situation”
“Still holding out on that little meeting Quaritch wants to have with me. Maybe it won't be that far, since now I am within the premise of the indigenous, I guess I need to collect more info”
“A lot happened so to say. I gotta rest soon. If allowed, I can bring something from here, take it with me when I get back home. Pictures seem the best answer. Or something na’vi related. My little girl knows so little of what is being told about pandora. Or knew I should say. How old is she now….? Probably a preteen. Guess I dodged a bullet. I know pre-teen years are hell. No, I shouldn't say that”
“Soon baby girl. The wait will be worth it. Like I promised. Training day begins tomorrow, so, with that, this is jake sully, signing out”
Tumblr media
Jake’s pov
“I am part of the people. I am the son of the people and child of Eywa. Passing my iknimaya, taming my ikran, everything. I am na’vi. It feels unreal, hard to accept. Tsu’tey and I are brothers, wasn't that long ago he wanted to kill me, calling me ugly, but now we are at the same level”
“They celebrated my rebirth. It was fantastic, neytiri made me dance even though I was terrible at it. The whole thing felt magical. Truly, I felt like I really belonged somewhere, being accepted. It felt nice. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, it did get better”
“Surprise surprise, I am now mated to neytiri. She took me to the tree of voices, telling me of how sacred and precious it is, being able to connect to their ancestors. It was beautiful. Neytiri was beautiful, still is. Taking my breath away, and my availability”
“I wouldn't change it for anything, she is someone I have come to love with all my heart. As cheesy as it sounds, it's true. Neytiri changed me, made me better, and I have no regrets”
Tumblr media
Jake’s pov
“They are starting to pressure us, more like me. The RDA really want the omatikaya gone, away from their home tree. Just because it houses the materials they want. It is not easy, none of it is easy. To tell them to leave, when it's been their home for thousands of years. According to Grace, I don't doubt her. This is their home, it is us who are the aliens”
“They are not going to leave, nothing is going to change their minds. Worst yet, I know quaritch will do drastic things to get what he wants. I was an idiot to follow him, to believe him. What he will do, knowing his tactics, he will shed blood and bullets. I need to warn neytiri, mo’at, tsu’tey. Can't believe this is coming out of my mouth, but I pray to Eywa, that she guides me. What can I do to make sure things don't go downhill”
“I came to make good money, to finish the mission given to me and be done with. Now, I am in a moral dilemma. I am stuck”
Tumblr media
Jake’s pov
“I am sorry. No amount of sorry’s that I say will ever be enough for anyone. Not to neytiri, not to eytukan, not to mo’at, tsu’tey grace, norm, anyone. It will never be enough. I brought this to them, it is only right that I help. War is coming, and soon. So many na’vi died when they destroyed their home tree. Many wounded, kids, infants, innocent lives”
“Grace and I did our best to warn them, tell them to leave. Tsu’tey was adamant to fight, their weapons useless against the valkyries. In an instant, all was gone. I wanted to apologize to neytiri, she was furious, telling me I am not one of those people. She is right. Before anything more could be done, those damn bastards forced me to pull out. Pushed me in a tight closure”
“Quaritch, a beast he is, heartless. Keeping me locked up yet outside of my cage he dangles the picture of my little girl. Telling me it's not too late to take his side if I ever want to go back to earth and see her again. Going on about how she will react to all of this. Her father rebelling against humanity. As much as I hate to admit…”
“He is right….I dont know if I will see her again. I hate to say….sacrifices have got to be made. I'm sorry, but I have to atone my sins. Like I said, no amount of sorry’s will be enough. Not even for my little girl, I am sorry baby girl, but daddy is not coming home”
Tumblr media
Jake’s pov
“We won. Quaritch is dead, and unfortunately, so is Grace and tsu’tey. Both sides lost many lives. Yet that is war, but we won. Humans are no more, many left, only few remained. Sworn their loyalty to the na’vi. Only they can stay. We made many sacrifices, I made many.  Many I dont regret, or will look back to. This is the beginning of a new chapter for me. There is nothing left to hold me back, not my past, not my memories.  I am at peace with what I did”
“Neytiri is with a child, I am excited, I am going to be a father. I cant wait when they arrive, I will be there, welcoming my son or daughter into a new world of peace. First born, neytiri likes to say it over and over.  She is not wrong, our first child together in a new era of peace”
“However there is still one thing left to do. A grand celebration is going to be held”
“This I look forward to, many are coming together for it. It is my birthday after all, can't miss my own party. So, one last time. This is Jake Sully, the human, signing out. For good”
Tumblr media
Third pov
A young girl looks at the last vlog of her father, Jake Sully, eyes wide as she takes in what she just saw. This was a side she never knew, nor did she think it would be hidden.
She clenches her hands into a fist tightly, gritting her teeth, her body shaking in fury. Hot tears streaming down her face, not knowing whether to cry in sadness or scream in anger. So many emotions mixed, creating a tornado in her mind.
Hearing a door open behind her, she turns to glare at the man.
“Why….” was all she could say before breaking down.
Tumblr media
Aaaaaaaaaaand that is it for this chapter of the ongoing series! This one I chose to have only jake be the main point, his vlogs. See how his mind changes, perspective and what lead to the final choice. Trust me, this will come back for future chapters. So until next time! See ya!

touya todoroki was eight when his hair began to turn white.
his father had given up on him. said there was no point in training him. not when his quirk began eating away at his body everytime he used it.
every night, you would find more, and more burns. some more severe than the others, the skin peeling and rotting in ways you didn't know was possible. and every night, you’d place your cold, cold hands on him, and heal him as best as you could.
sometimes, you wanted to stop. your quirk made you feel like you had been plunged in an ice cold bath, hands holding you down as you struggled to breath. you could feel the ice creeping into your veins, threatening to freeze you from the inside out. but you kept on pushing. for touya. for the boy who couldn't give up, even if he wanted to.
“enji went to the doctor’s today.” touya spoke, leaning against the trunk of the big oak tree. “said i cant use my quirk anymore. ‘parently i have my mom’s body or… whatever.”
you could hear the anguish in his voice. his dream, no. his father’s dream was now a lost cause. all the hours, all the blood, the sweat, the tears, down the drain in an instant. all because he lost the genetics lottery.
“what… what now?”
touya pushed away from the tree to look directly at you as he waited for his answer. the sun was beginning to set, casting an orange glow on both of you. you two never met in the daytime. afraid your parents would find out, that endeavour would find out. you were both on edge, and today’s news didn’t help at all.
“i dont know, toy’.”
"you don’t know?” touya responded in disbelief. he was angry at the situation, and angry at himself. “of course you don’t know. you don’t know anything. do you even care?”
touya’s voice was harsh, cold. he didn’t mean to hurt you, he really didn’t.
but when you’re an eight year old child who just had your dreams snapped away from you days after your birthday, it was a normal reaction. or as normal as one can be in a situation like this, anyway.
he began pacing, hands tugging at his hair with so much force you were afraid he would rip it from his scalp. touya’s hair had begun turning white in some places, and you didn't know whether it was from his mother, or from stress. you don't know which one you would have preferred.
you didn't know what to do. your parents never trained you on how to use your quirk at all. sometimes, selfishly, you wished you had a father like endeavour. a figure in your life that would help you hone your quirk the way enji did to touya. you could take it, the harsh words, and the unforgiving regime, if only it meant you could relieve the pain touya seemed to feel in every waking moment.
“i’m—” he mumbled, stopping to look at you.
touya looked like a mess. his skin was littered with burns and scars you couldn't heal all the way, his eyes bloodshot from tiredness and stress, hair messy and greasy.  his voice was soft, and if you really listened, you could hear him trembling.
“i didn’t mean that. i’m sorry.”
touya slowly walked over to your spot and sat down wordlessly. his shoulders slumped, and he brought his knees to his chest.  he didn’t say anything for a long time. the sound of cicadas surrounded the two of you, and the last of the sunlight faded away. the sky was dark, and a few stars had already begun to appear. the moon was half way dark, peeking out from behind the clouds in the night sky.
as touya rested, you slowly inched closer to him until your shoulder touched his. he didn’t flinch away, and instead slowly rested his head on your shoulder.
after a few moments, he spoke softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
“what am i going to do?”
touya was a just a kid, but sometimes you forgot that. you forgot that he was just a child, not some grown adult that could handle the pressure of the world on their shoulders like endeavour had made him out to be.
“have fun.”
touya’s head moved from your shoulder to look at you.
”have fun?” he responded in disbelief. “i can’t really have fun when my quirk— when my whole life is falling apart, can i now?”
"your whole life doesn't have to revolve around your quirk, touya."
“how is it not supposed to revolve around my quirk?”
touya sat up straighter, putting distance between the two of you. he looked at you with an incredulous look, like you had just suggested he run away with his tail between his legs.
“all i’ve ever done is train, train, and train. train and work my butt off for a quirk i never even really wanted. and now it’s all going down the drain like i’m nothing more than trash.”
touya sat back against the tree again, leaning his head back and looking up at the stars, emerging from their cocoon once more.
”this is all i’ve ever had. without my quirk, i’m nothing.”
he was bitter and resentful. at his father, for lighting this fire under him. at his mother, for giving birth to him. at himself, for not being enough.
to touya, the idea of suddenly stopping everything he knew seemed impossible. being the number one hero was the only thing on his mind since the day he was born. it was engraved into his brain, and all he knew to do.
so now that he was stripped of that, where did that leave him? what was he supposed to do? who was he, if not the less than perfect successor for his father?
“what am i gonna to do now, huh? play outside? play with others? run around like a freakin’ kid?”
“yeah, actually.. you should play with me.”
“play with you?” touya responded sceptically, raising an eyebrow at you. “what are we supposed to do? have a tea party?
the idea of playing, especially in his current state of mind, seemed like a foreign concept. you two played sometimes, yes, but touya sometimes felt like he was going through the motions, if anything. he never really found anything in playing house with you, or pretending he was a villain and you, a monster. at least thats what he told himself, anyway. he’d rather keel over and die than admit he enjoyed spending time with you.
“if you wanna.”
touya looked dumbfounded. like you had just sprouted a second head. he knew you could be a little slow sometimes, but this was too much.
“seriously? we’re like… eight. we’re too old for that. we’re basically teenagers. ‘n’ you want to spend your time playing tea party? ” he said, making a face. “when we could be doing something actually fun, like skipping rocks or something? don't you have anything else in that head of yours?”
“...we could go to the park?”
“the park?” touya repeated, staring at you, a sarcastic lilt to his voice. “why do you wanna go to the park? so we can sit and spin around on the roundabout till we fall off?”
“i mean.. no one's gonna be there. its late, so we’ll have it all to ourselves, touya.”
“that’s…” he began before stopping.  it actually sounded kind of cool. the idea of sneaking into an empty park at night with you. the idea of getting caught… excited him.
he let out a grumble, looking away. “fine. let’s go to the park.” he relented.
touya slowly got up from the ground and dusted off his pants before sticking his hands into the pockets of his hoodie.
“this better not be stupid,” he muttered as the two of you began making your way through the park.
it was late, meaning there was basically no one out except the occasional night-shift worker or the local drunkard. the only sounds to accompany you were the cars driving past, or the songs of the crickets. as the two of you walked, touya glanced over at you.
he noticed the way you walked confidently, almost with purpose. he would often catch himself stumbling as he walked, still not used to his gangly limbs. you, on the other hand, seemed to move so flawlessly. he was premature, and as a result, was shorter than fuyumi, and probably natsuo when he becomes of age. he was taller than you, sure, but that wasn't a feat by any means considering your height.
he kept his gaze on you for a few more seconds before looking away.
“hey,” he spoke suddenly, breaking the silence. “how come ya’ never play with other kids?”
it was a question that was bothering him for a while now. you never seemed to want to go hang around other kids, opting to stick by his side. touya could never really figure out why. maybe he didn't want to. he couldn't tell.
“why would i, touya,” you grinned, stretching out his name and slinging an arm around his shoulder, relishing in the way he recoiled. “when i have you?
a scoff.
“don’t say that,” he said in a deadpanned voice, but there was a light flush beginning to spread across his face.
he wasn't used to receiving praise from anyone, but when it came from you… it made him uncharacteristically embarrassed. touya didn't particularly know his emotions very well, especially not one that made him so flustered he wanted to throw up. not one that only ever seemed to show its face whenever he was around you.
“seriously, though. i’ve never seen you talk to anyone else like you do with me. how come?”
touya continued walking, casting an expectant glance in your direction. you didn't know what to say.
he had no idea why he wanted to know so badly. why the idea of you talking to other kids bothered him so much.  and he knew it was stupid. you were allowed to make other friends. hell, he was the one not letting you make friends with other people. but the thought of you talking to anyone else other than him sent a sharp pang to his chest.
he shook the thought away, forcing the feeling of possessiveness down.
after a few moments of silence, he spoke again, keeping his gaze straight ahead.
“...what makes me so special, anyway?”
“shut up, touya.”
touya let out a surprised huff of air at your response.
he stopped walking and spun around to face you so suddenly, that you nearly ran into him. there was a scowl on his face, and his eyes were narrowed.
“don’t tell me what to do,” he replied in a low tone, trying to sound intimidating the way his father seemed to be so effortlessly.
he wasn’t quite sure why. maybe it was the thought of you giving your attention to someone other him, or maybe he just wanted some sort of response from you.
he leaned closer, using his barely-there advantage of height to loom over you. he watched your face, trying to figure out what was going through that dumb head of yours.
touya’s face inches closer to yours, close enough that you could feel his warm breath fan across your face. his eyes were locked onto yours, watching intently as you began to shift uncomfortably.
your hands began to feel a lot colder than usual as your fingertips began to turn white. the warmth in your veins was quickly replaced with a chill that you were all too familiar with.
your heart was beating quick and fast. you hadn’t realised how hard it had been beating until you felt your heart thump against your chest. you were sure touya could hear it, with how close he was.
you could feel the heat rising to your cheeks as he leaned in even closer, his eyes still locked in onto yours. there was a determined look in his eyes, like he was trying to figure you out.
“whatever. i wanna go on the seesaw.”
touya’s expression soured at your nonchalant reaction. instead of the nervous stammering and stuttering he was hoping for, you had calmly responded, not giving him the slightest show that he had any sort of effect over you.
he watched as you looked away, avoiding his gaze. there was a faint redness to your cheeks, and a part of him felt satisfied at the sight of it. but there was also an undercurrent of annoyance at the idea of being dismissed like that.
he let out a scoff and backed away, putting some distance between the two of you.
“the seesaw?” touya repeated, raising an eyebrow. “what are ya, five years old?”
he wasn’t quite sure what he had been expecting you to propose, but it certainly wasn’t that. the thought of standing on a children’s toy, awkwardly swinging up and down and up again, was laughable.
you, on the other hand, seemed completely serious as you nodded. “yeah!”
he stared at you for a moment, contemplating whether or not you were messing with him. but your expression was as deadpan as always, giving no hint that you were anything but sincere.
he let out a heavy sigh, rolling his eyes as a look of resignation crossed his face. “fine. let’s go on the damn seesaw.”
you grinned, bounding over to it with way too much energy someone should have in the dead of night. touya rolled his eyes again at your excitement. he was not particularly enthusiastic about going on a child’s toy, but he begrudgingly followed you to the playground. you practically dragged him over to the brightly painted seesaw, eagerly taking a seat on one side.
he reluctantly took a seat on the opposite one, the metal frame of the seesaw creaking under his weight. he glanced over at you, a frown on his face. "this is stupid."
you, on the other hand, were having the time of your life. you bounced up and down on the other end of the seesaw, giggling as the metal frame made squeaking sounds. touya sat on the other side, arms crossed, but you could tell by the way his shoulders were squared that he was trying not to fall off without giving in and actually play.
"come on," you said, gesturing for touya to bounce as well. "it's more fun when both of us are doing it."
"having fun yet?" you called out, still bouncing up and down like a hyperactive child. the metal frame between the two of you was starting to groan in protest.
touya let out a huff. "this is dumb," he repeated. "i'd rather be doing literally anything else right now."
he continued to bounce, but his movements were more restrained than yours. the whole thing seemed so childish, especially with you gleefully giggling away on the other end.
“fine! lets go on the swings then.” you frowned, peeling yourself off the seesaw sadly and trudging over to the swingset.
touya let out a scoff, his hold on you reluctantly loosening “of course its the swings,” he said with a roll of his eyes, shifting his hands to rest on your hips. “you always wanna go on those stupid things.”
“yeah i do. they're the coolest!”
you quickly regained your composure, however, and looked back at touya with a raised eyebrow. "slides are lame. swings are where it's at. you can go up and down!"
he let out a scoff again, shoving his hands into the pockets of his hoodie. "slides are better. they're faster. there's more adrenaline. now c’mon,” he murmured, walking side by side with you, absentmindedly matching the way you walked. left, right. left, right.
touya watched you closely as you sat down, his hands resting gingerly on your shoulders until you were safely seated on the swing. he stood there for a moment, his heart skipping a beat as your hair blew softly in the wind, framing your face with a few strands of hair.
he quickly brushed the feeling aside, shaking his head as he walked around to stand behind you.
“im gonna push you now, alright?”
“‘mkay!”
touya positioned himself behind you, his hands wrapped around the chains of the swing. his heart felt like it was trying to beat out of his chest. he took a deep breath, praying silently that you didn’t notice how nervous he actually was.
“okay, on the count of three…”
he began to count down, softly at first but gaining momentum as he reached the end. on three, he pushed you gently, propelling the swing forwards.
as you began to swing, touya let out a long exhale, his breath leaving him in a shaky whisper. he stood behind you, watching as you soared through the air, a smile on your face bigger than the moon.
he couldn’t help but notice how… carefree you looked. how your hair would sometimes brush against his knuckles as he pulled you backwards. how you would throw your head back in laughter every time you reached the peak of the swing. touya pushed you again, watching as you ascended even higher this time.
the sight of you swinging back and forth, your hair blowing in the gentle breeze, made his heart flutter. touya couldn’t tear his gaze away from you, his eyes fixated on your figure as you gained momentum.
he swallowed hard, trying to steady his breathing. he didn’t know why he felt so flustered, he had been pushing you on the swings for years.
this time felt different though. maybe it was the way the moonlight shone on your skin, or the way your shoulders shook with quiet giggles.
“push me touya! higher!”
touya let out a scoff of mock annoyance, though he knew he couldn’t deny you.
“you’re such a pain in the ass,” he muttered under his breath, pushing the swing with more force.
watching you go higher and higher, your laughter filling the air, touya couldn’t help but smile to himself. he wanted to know what it was like to be up there, to see the moon, and the stars. to feel free, even for just a moment.
and touya never understood why in movies the main characters always seemed to be ‘stuck in place’. stood there, looking like an idiot as something that could have easily been prevented from happening in front of them. he was old enough to understand that it was for the plot, but he couldn't help but feel frustrated when a character wanders back into the house with a killer in it for the nth time.
but now, he was frozen, his whole body seizing as the you swung up, and up, fingers slipping from the chains and your body falling, encapsulated by nothing but the light of the moon.
time seemed to slow down at that moment. he could hear the thumping of his own heart in his ears, like a primal drum, beating in time with the seconds ticking by.
he tried to call out to you, to warn you about the impending fall, but no sound came out of his agape mouth. he could only watch, feet glued to the ground, as you came back down towards the ground at an increasingly high speed.
touya’s heart skipped a beat, his blood turning to ice as he saw you slip from the swing. he wasn’t sure what overtook him in that moment, but he felt his body moving on its own.
within seconds, he found himself darting forward, arms outstretched as he tried to catch you midair. panic surged through him like electricity, his thoughts racing a mile a minute.
touya had no time to think, no time to weigh the risks or the consequences of what he was about to do. he acted, pure instinct taking over his body.
he moved with an almost superhuman speed, his long legs covering the distance between you and him in the blink of an eye. touya felt his adrenaline spike as he stretched his arms out towards you, his eyes locked onto your falling form.
he knew, somewhere in the back of his mind, that this was a terrible idea. that he was putting himself in danger too. but in that moment, all he cared about was saving you.
time seemed to stretch on into infinity as he caught you, his arms encircling around your waist. he held you tight against his chest, the force of the impact causing him to stumble backwards.
he fell onto the ground, landing on his back with a thud. the air left his lungs in a sharp exhale, his body tense as he tried to process what had just happened.
for a moment, touya laid there, his chest heaving as he struggled to catch his breath. his arms were still wrapped around you, holding you impossibly close against him.
“....touya?” your voice was small, eyes blown wide and terrified of every little thing that went bump in the night. you were always so strong, never wavering or faltering whenever you were around him. but here, right now, there was nothing you needed more than him.
"i got you," he breathed out, his voice shaky and ragged.
he held you closer, his hold on you tightening almost possessively. touya didn't know why his heart was pounding so hard, why his whole body felt like it was on fire.
he inhaled deeply, savoring the faint scent of your hair. it was a subtle, sweet fragrance that reminded him of wildflowers and sunshine.
"you're okay. i've got you," he repeated, more for his own reassurance than yours.
he sat up slowly, the movement causing him to wince slightly. his back was definitely going to hurt later, but he didn't care about that right now. all he cared about was making sure you were alright.
touya's eyes trailed over your form, searching for any signs of injury. he lifted a hand to gently cup your chin, tilting your face upwards so he could look at you properly.
he didnt know a single thing about taking care of others. didnt know how to put on a bandage, didnt know what medicine was what. didnt know how to comfort anyone, if at all. all he knew was what he saw his mother do, time, and time again.
his gaze softened as he looked into your eyes, taking in the sight of your tear-stained face. the sight tugged at his heartstrings, but he tried his best to keep his emotions in check.
he held your chin a little tighter, his thumb gently rubbing over your skin in a comforting motions.
"you're crying.”
“shut up. no– no ‘m not.”
touya couldn't help but roll his eyes at your reaction. even in moments like these, you were as stubborn as ever.
he let out a huff of amusement, shaking his head slightly as he used his thumb to wipe away the tears from your eyes.
"yeah, yeah, whatever you say," he said in a sarcastic tone. "because your tears are definitely just sweat, right?"
you nodded, shutting your eyes tight as you willed the world to stop spinning. you didn't know how people stomached going skydiving or riding rollercoasters, and you didn't think you ever would.
touya chuckled, his hand moving from your chin to pat your head fondly.
"you're an idiot, you know that?" he teased, his voice softening at the sight of your tear-stained face.
he hated seeing you cry. more than he knew he should.
the butterflies in his stomach stirred as he continued to hold you close, his hand still tangled in your hair. he tried to shake the feeling off, reminding himself that he was just being a good friend. that's all.
but as he sat there, with you in his arms and your tears staining his shirt, he couldn't ignore the fluttering in his chest.
he sat there for a moment, his fingers gently threading through your hair as he tried to catch his breath. he knew he should make sure you were actually okay, that your little stunt didn't actually get you hurt.
but right now, all he could focus on was you. the way your eyelashes fluttered against your skin as you blinked back tears, the way your lower lip trembled ever so slightly.
it was driving him crazy.
“can… can we go home?”
touya's heart ached at the sound of your soft, shaky voice. the way you looked so small and fragile in his arms right now made his chest tighten with an unfamiliar feeling. it was nauseating. you were always so strong around him, but seeing you like this was like flipping a switch in his brain.
he gently patted your head once more, his fingers lingering on your hair for a moment, before nodding.
"yeah," he responded, his voice quiet and hoarse. "yeah, we can go home."
he’d have to sneak you through the window again. as much as he wanted your parents to check you out now, it’d be too much of a risk.
touya's mind raced with thoughts as he helped you up onto your feet, his grip never loosening from your waist.
he knew the drill by now. he would have to sneak you back into your room through your bedroom window, without getting caught by your parents. he took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart. he could do this. he'd done it several times before.
touya always walked you home after the first night. it was the least he could do, anyways. his father was cruel, but not cruel enough to not raise a gentleman.
and touya didn't mind walking you back home. in fact, there was a secret part of him that actually relished in the time alone with you. the comfortable silence, the gentle brush of your hand against his, the way the dim street lights illuminated your face.
he could pretend, even if just for a moment, that it was just the two of you in the world. no parents, no rules, no responsibilities.
it was a foolish dream, but he clung to it like a lifeline, nonetheless.

100 notes- i'll start my assessments when i get them(i have one due tomorrow which i was gonna finish now but i'm doing this apparently)

3k notes- i will actually finished the dress i started making
4k notes- i will try to get over my crush cos its ✨never gonna happen✨(she so pretty and masc tho its gonna be hard)
5k notes- (this is so far up here cos idk how to do this so im gonnna need a lot of time to figure out how) im gonna try to demolish the rumour that im gay thats going around a bit.**
6k notes- i will finish all my crochet projects and not start any new ones until im done.
**context. i go to an all girls school and theres a lot of people so its not like everyone knows everyone, even in my year(theres approx. 174 in my year alone, and theres 6 year groups at my school cos high school is 7-12 where i live) but some people know me ig cos i know a few girl who are more notable, im in the top class and i recdntly started sitting with a group that the popular girls call furries.
(theyre a pretty big group and popular girls hate them cos one or two of them are trans - ftm, ftnb etc, no mtf cos my lovely/s catholic school wouldnt let trans girls in- several of them are gay, a few of them are emo, most of them are poc's and a few of them dont have english as their first language. overall they are seen as the "weird kids" in my year)
so this rumour apparently is going around that i like a girl in my class(i absolutely do but if you havent noticed my school is hella hoomophobic and i could very well get beat) which js isnt ideal and is gonna lead to a lot of issues, especially if a lot of people start believing it so if you guys have any advice pls lmk. and its not like i can js get a fake bf and show him off cos its a GIRLS SCHOOL. if i reconnect with a friend from primary school tho we could pretend to be dating and like make a post on social media. but then kids at his school would find out and hed either have to tell them its fake(which would eventually find its way back to my school, and when i say eventually i mean immediately) or he couldnt get a girlfriend so that probs wouldnt work.
i know it sounds like im making a mountain out of a molehill but ive got years to go here and i dont want to spend all my high school years getting bullied bc even if i went to a teacher about it or smthing id have to like analyse them first and try to figure out which ones are homophobic or not.
like learning about why "being gay is a sin"(pretend im saying that really mockingly) is literally in our curriculum.
holy shit that was longer than expected.
no pressure tags: @wishiwereheather13 @loserboyfriendrjl @fracturedsunsets @chasingthemoony @stars-and-leather @starsofleo

Suffocation: Gojo Satoru x Reader
Tumblr media
Suffocation MLIST Summary: Time spent apart from Gojo means time spent with the students. That is, until your powers awaken. ps,, new chapter leaks?? we are so back!!! <3 Wc: 6, 500
The two of you, in fact, never got the chance to talk about it. You had fallen asleep on the couch, this time without him but with the students and your brother. As Gojo passed the common room on his way out, he thought about waking you to say goodbye. But you looked so peaceful leaning against the armrest, with Yuji curled beside you like a kitten.
The fact that Nobara, let alone Megumi, felt comfortable enough to do the same made Gojo's heart swell. All of them leaned against each other until it fell on you, your arms once spread wide but now curling into your chest, a peaceful smile spreading across your dream-filled face.
All he could do was pull out his phone and snap a picture, hoping he would get close enough with you to show it someday. To really make you understand that you were the missing piece in all of their lives. You would be a great mother. You would be a fantastic wife. You were everything and more.
Time did not matter; only the impact did. And what a crater you would leave behind.
What was this feeling?
Gojo allowed himself to steal one more look at you before returning to the duties he dreaded. It was convenient to be the most powerful sorcerer for once, as he deliberately teleported back to leave a present on your vanity, praying you would miss him as much as he would miss you in the next few days. Hoping you would understand.
When you woke, Gojo was already gone. And as you checked your phone later in the morning, you found his message.
Annoying ass teacher guy:> Will be back in a few days. Don't miss me too much, princess.
He imagined that since you were around the students, you would try to hide your blush as well as you could before typing back a witty reply with ease.
Yuji’s sister </3:> And if I miss you too much?
Annoying ass teacher guy:> I don't want you to be sad, but that might make what i'll do to you even more special ;)
Yuji’s sister </3:> you flirt
Annoying ass teacher guy:> check your desk
"Ugh!! Nanamiiiinnn!" Gojo sighed dramatically, flinging himself next to Nanami on the couch. It was idiotic with how anxious he was for your reply.
"What Gojo?" he grumbled, tersely flipping the page of his book.
"I won't see her for three days!" he whined. "Will she remember who I am?"
"The fact that she texted you back should be your answer," Nanami sighed, dismissing his friend's behavior as another joke. He didn't even know who Gojo was talking about, as he had already tuned out the teasing and nonchalance all morning. "Keep in mind we are here for work."
"We're done with work for the day, so you dont have an excuse to not listen to me."
Nanami put his book down, heaving a sigh. "Fine, spit it out."
A long silence passed as Gojo gathered his thoughts, deciding to start from the beginning. He didn't know if Yuji had said anything to Nanami yet about your arrival, but it didn't matter. Gojo wanted to talk about you; hell, he needed to. Just to think about something else, anything to get your face out of his mind. Talking about it had to help, right? His emotions were always bottled up, but this feeling… this one, was unlike any other.
Plus, Nanami had always been good with women. Advice shouldn't hurt, even if he was seeking it out from the person who would be harshest with him. It was needed.
And so, Gojo decided to ramble as he described your arrival, abilities, relation to Yuji, and what the two of you had already gone through in a week. The last thing he added was your beauty, which was definitely worth asseverating.
"She's all I can think about," he repined.
Nanami deadpanned. "You've only known her for a week," he said without thinking, but then really reflected on how Gojo was acting, how he talked about you, and how he said your name. There was a deep yearning, carefully covered with humor and dramatics. Had he ever seriously cared for a woman this much before? Nanami couldn't think of a time. Gojo was his usual, over-dramatic self, but Nanami noticed the differences. It was in the way Gojo moved, the slight uncertainty in his eyes, and how relieved his body language became once he finished his tangent.
Even just the description of you intrigued Nanami. Yes, it was astonishing to hear that Yuji had a sister and even more surprising to discover you had unique, undocumented cursed energy.
"You think the flowers were too much?"
"You bought a woman flowers?" Nanami's cold demeanor cracked into one of surprise. Then, he awkwardly cleared his throat to cover. "Absolutely not; flowers are a very safe choice."
"Seriously, is it that surprising?" Gojo sighed in defeat. "Why is everyone so surprised? I went on dates all the time, I know how to please a woman!"
"Not that you couldn't do it, but chose to."
That caused Gojo to fall silent. How his friend was able to read him so clearly was astonishing in itself. He was right, and that's what bothered Gojo. He had walked through life expecting never to feel this way, as he didn't have the time or energy to keep a woman by his side long enough for it to be worth it, let alone labeled. But with you, he wanted to. All he needed was for you to say yes.
Watching Gojo's eyebrows furrow, the realization spreading across his face, Nanami continued. "I know you've been with women before, but it actually seems like you deeply care for her. In the decade I've known you, I've never seen you like this."
"There's just something about her." Gojo twirled his phone between his fingers. Staring off into the distance. "I don't know what to do."
"Why wouldn't you know what to do?"
Part of Gojo was still determining whether he should allow himself to entertain the thought of you. Was this smart? Was he being fooled in a way he never thought possible? It was hard to trust, but you had never made him uneasy. Sometimes, you only need to look at a person to understand their intentions. And yours were pure.
But Gojo had been fooled before. All that distrust came flooding back as he thought of your unique ability. You somehow slipped past his infinity, and it frustrated him. He had let his guard down around you without realizing it. It was as simple as breathing when you were near. You weren't just beautiful and kind; you were also powerful. A road that could prove treacherous if he didn't play his cards right, not just for him but for everyone who relied on him, too.
"I've never felt this way before."
"And why are you making that seem like a bad thing?"
"Have you ever pictured me with a woman by my side?"
"I sure hoped and prayed that there was someone who could put you in your place."
Reluctantly, Gojo finally asked the question that mattered most. "What if I hurt her?"
"You probably will, but that's just how relationships go sometimes. Especially with a life as complicated as ours. Whether she can handle it or not, is up to her."
Gojo soaked in Nanami's words, ultimately concluding that he was worrying too much. If it was meant to be, it would. Right?
Everything eventually worked itself out, and he hoped that it could end in you being his alone. What wishful thinking.
"You know what Nanamin?" Gojo glanced over at his friend and coworker. "You're right."
And once Nanami saw that mischievous smile spread back across Gojo's face, he knew everything was back to normal. He shook his head, the slightest smile threatening to grace his lips. But Gojo knew he was hiding it when the corners of his eyes crinkled.
"Why do you look so smug?"
"I just can't believe that someone is willing to date you."
"You are so mean!" Gojo whined again, standing up from the couch and walking sluggishly to the exit as if he had been physically wounded. "I'll prove you wrong, Nanamin. Next time we meet she'll be in love with me."
And then, his phone pinged a message from you.
Y/N<3:> I love it, Satoru.
Curious, you wandered back into your room after breakfast. His message had left you operating at half capacity from the anticipation of it all. As soon as you opened the door, your eyes darted to your desk, where you found a bouquet of roses. The most beautiful bundle you'd ever seen.
There was a vase with a note attached. Picking it up with one hand, the other thumbed over the soft, ruby petals. As you finished the note, a permanent smile spread across your face for the rest of the day.
Keep the vase beautiful. As long as you're here, you won't go a week without flowers. - Satoru
One day turned into two, and you couldn't configure why it made you sad. It really shouldn't. Gojo's absence should be acceptable to you, but the longing in your chest told you otherwise.
Yuji claimed he was just on an emergency assignment and assured you it was normal. None of the students or staff seemed to bat an eye at his absence either. It allowed you to settle in without distractions and gave you more free time to befriend Yuji and the students. They trained with you, taught you what they knew, and refused to leave you alone for over an hour. In fact, they made your apartment their new hangout spot. They claimed it was cozy and smelled good, and you were too nice to refuse their company.
A gigantic beanbag had been brought in, and they were taking advantage of your Nintendo Switch games while you skimmed through a textbook peacefully on your bed. The campus library was a perfect resource, filled with specific literary curse techniques you couldn’t find elsewhere. You were learning so much, not just about jujutsu but also about yourself and your abilities. If only you could uncover the link between them all.
The sound effects of Mario Kart and the focused grunts of the students filled the room. The race ended, and Yuji sighed in defeat. “Are you sure you don’t wanna get in on this, Y/N?” he asked, head falling to the beanbag as he stared at you upside down.
“I need to study!” you chuckled. “Maybe next time?”
“Gojo should be back tonight, maybe he’ll join.” Megumi shrugged, already forcing the three of them into another tournament. You couldn’t help but perk up slightly at the mention of the white-haired sorcerer. He hadn’t told you when he’d return, and you couldn’t deny how badly you wanted to talk with him.
“But he always wins!” Yuji groaned.
“Oh?” you snorted. “So you only want me to join so you can beat me?”
Yuji snapped his head up, laughing nervously. “No I promise!”
Sticking your tongue out, your eyes returned to the textbook in your lap.
Nobara watched you closely before the match started, and your reaction to the mention of her Sensei confirmed her suspicions. Your sudden smile was also a dead giveaway.
“I bet Y/N would join if Gojo was here~” she teased, snickering to herself.
That definitely interrupted your train of thought, and you immediately became flustered. At least one person noticed something was going on.
“What makes you say that?” you squeaked, mentally smacking yourself for how obvious you sounded, cheeks already beginning to burn. There was no reason for you to be nervous about it. Yes, Gojo was their teacher… but you were an adult and had no previous affiliation with him to make it scandalous. A relationship with Gojo might only be weird if Yuji was uncomfortable. Would he be? Were you thinking way too much about it?
You were definitely jumping to conclusions. Gojo probably didn’t feel the same way about you. Gifts could only get him so far. His nickname for you and how he touched you didn’t necessarily mean he wanted what you did.
Then you remembered what he did to you before he left. And your anxiety spiked once again.
“You like him, do you not?” Nobara pried through a lighthearted laugh, even if she couldn’t understand. The thought made her want to barf. You were way too good for him. But her Sensei had his perks, and maybe, just maybe, he deserved someone like you in his life.
Fuck. You really wished Gojo was there to do the talking, to make it seem like a joke, to deflect the accusation with his ridiculous and ambiguous humor. You were so unsure about everything, but especially Gojo. You didn’t know him well enough yet, you didn’t know the students well enough to put a label on anything. “I mean…” you trailed off, trying to sound nonchalant. “What's not to like?”
Megumi facepalmed, knowing what was about to happen.
“You like-like Gojo Sensei?” Yuji asked in confusion, almost dropping the switch remote.
Your hands shot up in defense, growing frantic and flustered when all three students craned their heads to stare at you. “I dont know?”
“Oh my God,” Megumi sighed in defeat. “She does.”
“Really?” Yuji blinked multiple times, glancing at his friends and then back to you, wondering if he’d been too oblivious to realize. “Why didn’t you say anything sooner?”
“You both are so dumb sometimes.” Nobara pinched her nose. “Who do you think got her those roses on her desk?”
They all turned their heads to look at your desk, which, in fact, still displayed the flamboyant bouquet of red roses placed neatly in a glass vase. It was so obvious. Of course, Nobara would notice something like that.
“It’s not what it looks like…” you tittered, wanting to run into your closet and hide from the embarrassment of it all.
“I assumed it was just a friendly welcoming gift!” Yuji fussed in response to being called dumb.
“Red is the color of love, idiot,” Megumi sighed.
Yuji slumped further into the bean bag, releasing an even more exasperated sigh than Megumi. He wasn’t upset about it, only frustrated that he wasn’t the first to notice and ask you about it. Days passed, and nobody said a word about something so important. Gojo liked you? Like that?
“Have you kissed?” Nobara pried further, desperate to hear the gossip.
You didn’t reply, trying to hide the bashful smile that threatened to spread across your face by biting down on your lip. You did more than just kiss, but you would keep that to yourself. Even if you didn’t say anything, what you felt was displayed in your expression. Why were you so bad at lying?
Nobara threw her head back with a cackle, nudging Yuji in his side. “How do you feel Yuji? Gojo likes your sister!”
Your brother seemed to ponder for a minute longer than you hoped for, but all he did was shrug and admit, “I’m surprised,” he said, but then smiled at you with kindness and understanding in his eyes. “If that’s what you want Y/N. I’m okay with it.”
“Really?” Your mouth dropped open. “It's not weird?” you asked none of them in particular.
“I don’t think it's weird,” Megumi finally butted in. “Gojo can be a good person when he wants to be.”
“Yeah!” Yuji beamed at you, thinking it funny that you would consider his feelings in the matter. “You don’t need to worry about how I would feel. You’re my sister, but only as of recently. You deserve to be with who you want!”
What a gentle, kind, and loving soul your brother was. How could he be so sweet at such a young age? It had taken you far longer to open yourself up, to trust, and seek happiness. He made it seem easy, as if he hadn’t endured his own trauma of death and separation.
“Thanks, Yuji.” You smiled back at him, relaxing back to your previous, unbothered demeanor. “I’ll take that into consideration.”
“That’s it?” Nobara sighed. “No more details?”
“No more details.” You scrunched your face at her teasingly. “Once I figure it out, you’ll be the first to know.”
“Boooooo,” she jeered, picking up a remote and leaning back toward Yuji. “At least we have something to blackmail Gojo with now,” she whispered loud enough for you to hear.
Yuji chuckled at that, and so did Megumi. They all continued to play their game, and you went back to reading your book. You smiled as you scanned through the lines and jotted down notes about domain expansions. According to Gojo, they were a rare occurrence, but it was wise to be as prepared as possible. You remembered as much as you could about his—how awakened and alive you felt. A cursed spirit would be a different story, though. And you preferred to not think more about it just yet. You only hoped you would never be trapped in one.
About to turn another page, you felt that all too familiar rush of dread.
No…not right now. It was too soon.
A gasp left your lips, and you went rigid. Before you could even think to warn Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara of what they were about to witness, the upper portion of your body violently snapped back into the bed.
The headboard smacked against the wall loud enough to alert the students. One breath was all you could take before a sudden coldness infected every portion of your body. Then, you began to cease, all control of your body vanishing.
“Y/N?” Yuji immediately shot up from the beanbag, followed by his duo. They all rushed to your bed as if sensing the pressure in the room change. The candle you had burning blew out as Yuji scooped his hands under your head, trying his best to cradle you. “What’s wrong?”
“Is she okay?” Megumi barked, eyes wide in concern. Nobara’s eyes shot to the now-smoking candle.
A few more spasms ricocheted through your body, and you grit your teeth in an attempt to relax. All you needed to speak was a few strained sentences. Your body was so stiff, and you could feel your hands clench. Your eyes started to droop before you could stop them.
“N…Notebook…” you stuttered, trying to gesture to the only one sitting on your desk. “And quill!” you forced out. It clicked without further explaining for Megumi, and he snatched them and brought them to you.
Yuji, on the other hand, was frantic, shouting your name over and over again. Nobara was reaching for her cell phone, yelling about calling an ambulance.
“Normal!” you cried out, shaking uncontrollably. “It's normal…” You went limp in Yuji’s arms and were finally able to rush out what you needed. “Don’t call anyone–”  you strained.
It wasn’t a typical seizure; you knew it. Your body contorted in ways that looked painful and unnatural, and you knew you were scaring them. This was the first time you were losing control in front of others. Tears started gathering in the corner of your eyes from the fear of it all, from the judgment and the embarrassment.
Then, your eyes rolled into the back of your head as you ceased again. It would continue to happen until you picked up that stupid quill. You felt helpless, not just for yourself but for your poor brother, who was now about to witness just how strange you really were.
The last thing you felt was Megumi sliding the quill into your enclosed grip.
Gojo felt the shift before he opened your door, the gifts he brought back for you and the students falling to the floor as he burst through it, freezing as his eyes settled on your contorted body. You were utterly still, the only part of you moving was your hand, metal tip scribbling against the paper. The sound of it was abhorrent as if every etch foretold destruction. Invisible dread hung in the air, undoubtedly coming from whatever prophecy you were weaving.
But your eyes were what scared him. They were completely rolled back into your head, so much so that the blood vessels looked as if they were going to burst. You suddenly began to twitch violently, making Yuji gasp with concern, making Gojo rush to your side, dancing along a frantic line.
“Gojo Sensei!” Megumi turned to him with wide eyes. “What’s happening?”
“It's okay!” He approached you as if he was in a trance, and the students moved aside. He didn’t know if you were okay if this was normal or expected. You had only summarized these episodes briefly.
Once he was at your side, his knees gave out. He felt almost paralyzed, gazing at you in such apparent pain and unable to think of a way to fix it. This was an undiscovered form of cursed energy. He tried desperately to scan through his memories for one instance of something similar but came up with nothing.
“She was fine just a second ago,” Nobara muttered in shock, glancing around as if she could solve it and relieve your predicament.
“Did she say anything before?” Gojo asked, eyebrows knitting with worry.
“T-That it was normal,” Yuji said, standing behind Gojo with a worried, distraught expression, noticing how his Sensei’s eyebrows furrowed as if he, too, was at a loss for what to do. Yuji couldn’t recall a time when Gojo was confused, let alone displayed such concern.
Gojo relaxed slightly but still reached out and adjusted your pillow to support your neck. At that point, he didn’t care if his students watched him reach out and caress your cheek. He was so worried. It didn’t matter if you had warned him about something like this. The way you twitched and gasped and the tears that still poured from the corners of your eyes made him furious.
Glancing at the notebook that your quill was scratching erratically on, Gojo still found it blank even as he used his six eyes. “I saw her last prophecy. But I can't see anything yet. I think she has to finish,” he whispered, grasping your other hand to let you know he was there for you.
Faintly, your pinky finger twitched against his palm, curving around his own finger before going limp again. Then, you twitched, a loud gasp heaving from your throat.
“Something is coming,” was all you said, eyes still rolled back before you shot up into a sitting position. It seemed impossible, but you began to scratch faster as your cursed energy burst to life, almost engulfing the entire room. All-consuming was the green aura, and the surprise of it all caused Gojo to jolt back. Nobara yelped in fright.
When everyone glanced back at you, they realized the notebook was floating, so were you and the loose items around you. And now, your eyes were glowing. Your aura was so unique, so rare. It was calming when it should be everything but.
The quill left the paper and began to brush more fluidly, calmly, and peacefully into the open space around you. Trying to focus, Gojo started to understand what you were actually doing. As beautiful as it was, the Kanji began to flow together to cast a spell. An ancient one, not a prophecy.
It felt like a mirage, as if Gojo was stepping through a rainbow. Beautiful colors, your beautiful face. The depths of your soul. The parts of you he craved to know. He saw flashes of you, moments that hadn't happened yet but felt like they were meant to. Your smile, your kindness, loyalty, and trust. Love was what it was. And he had so much of it to give. He would die for you in a heartbeat; he would do anything to keep that pretty smile on your face. He imagined himself holding you, imagined how amazing it would feel to call you his wife—he saw himself getting down on one knee, that expensive ring sparkling from inside a black velvet box. With tears streaming down your face, you nodded furiously. “I love you so much, Satoru.”
“Gojo what are you doing?” Megumi’s voice interrupted his vision, tinged with panic and warning.
The promised future vanished as quickly as it came, as Gojo realized he was holding your face, and you were holding his. No, not just his face; the fingers of your left hand were curled around his blindfold, and your right hand had begun to tug at the knot. You had almost slipped past the infinity that protected his soul. And you would have done it with ease.
Surprised, Gojo tugged his head back. And at the loss of contact, you gasped. A cry left your lips as the cursed energy you released shot back inside of you, snapping your body back to the bed. The silence that followed was deafening, and all anyone could hear was the sound of their pounding hearts, trying desperately to clear their minds of the haze your aura commanded.
The students and teacher all glanced at each other with dazed expressions. Glossy eyes and opened mouths proved that all of them had seen something, not just Gojo.
“What did you see Yuji?” Gojo asked, snapping back to reality faster than them. He knew you were okay by the steadiness of your breathing but was still cautious to get too close again.
Your brother blinked, still trying to comprehend what he’d seen. It felt so genuine and authentic like it had happened before. “I was sitting next to Y/N at a large dinner table. We all were…toasting to something. I don’t know what, but I was so happy. She told me how proud she was to be my sister. There were others there too but I couldn’t see their faces. You were on the other side of her, Sensei.”
Gojo’s eyes snapped to the others, taking note of Yuji’s explanation. A different vision, but similar to his—both of their visions highlight a relationship to you.
Megumi could feel Gojo’s gaze on him, knowing he’d been asked a question, but couldn’t muster a response. He knew he looked like a deer in the headlights, sort of how Yuji and Nobara both did. But instead of being able to explain what flashed through his mind, Megumi just swallowed hard in hopes of distracting himself from the pang in his chest.
There was no way, just no way. What had he even seen? Was it the future? Was it something he wanted and didn’t even know? All he knew was that the mirage had cracked the second he called you mom. Megumi had called you mom. There were no words to describe the feeling that constricted at his throat and prevented him from speaking. What he saw was you resting under a tree, nestled between his demon dogs and reading a book. They had grown a liking to you, just as he had.
“I need them for training, mom,” Megumi called over, rolling his eyes.
“But I’m so comfy!” you whined, and the dogs snorted in agreement.
“When you’re done, please let me know.”
What did that even mean? How did that happen?  Regardless, the gaping hole of belongingness cracked open further. And as Megumi ruminated over what he’d seen, he was left even more confused.
“We were shopping for…clothes…” Nobara finally said, but stopped before finishing. She intentionally broke her Sensei's focus after noticing the turmoil and confusion in Megumi’s eyes. The unanticipated vision was confusing her, too. The two of you had been shopping for baby clothes. And as she thought harder, she realized you had a slight baby bump poking through your sundress. The floppy summer hat you wore could not conceal the happiness in your eyes as you looked at her, wondering which outfit she thought was the cutest. After she gave her advice, you replied, “You’re gonna be the best auntie ever.”
Was this a glimpse of the future? And if so, did the others have a similar premonition like hers?
Dazed, you finally opened your eyes. The overhead light blinded you, only for a moment, before you remembered where you were and who you were surrounded with. Tears slipped past your eyelids before you could stop them. There were so many emotions and questions racing through your entire body that it would be impossible to properly formulate them. You were shaking still, feeling like you were being chased out of an incredible high. A high that reached its peak and was crashing down, leaving you distraught and fatigued.
“I’m sorry!” you choked out between gasps, feeling like you were suffocating, sitting up to see all of them staring at you with apprehensive eyes. “I-I’m sorry—”
“It’s okay,” Gojo immediately rushed back to your side, grasping your failing hands and pressing them softly into your lap. “Take a deep breath. It’s okay.”
Nodding furiously with tears streaming down your face, you inhaled sharply, his touch instantly soothing you.
“Slower.” Gojo nodded. “It’s okay.”
Feeling the pounding in your ears start to fade, you swallowed, mustering a sad smile as you glanced at him. He looked so worried from what you could see on his face, and it made a peculiar hollowness reside within your thoughts, realizing you had ruined his arrival. Your surroundings were different, too. Your books and supplies were strewn across the floor, along with presents at the entrance to your room. Had Gojo brought home gifts?
“I don’t know what happened. That’s never happened before.”
Your expression of paranoia explained enough to the white-haired sorcerer. Was that look in your eyes one of guilt? What could you possibly feel guilty for? Were you afraid he wouldn't believe you?
“I believe you,” Gojo whispered, releasing his hands from covering yours. He hesitated, wanting to comfort you more, but relented. You probably needed your space anyway. There was no clear answer for what just happened, and you were nonplussed, looking to him for answers he couldn’t give you. At least, not immediately, but he would try his best.
“Are you okay, Y/N?” Yuji questioned as he crossed the room, taking the opportunity to comfort you now that Gojo backed away. “Are you hurt?”
Remaining silent as Yuji gave you a hug, Gojo watched the two of you interact, mostly Yuji fussing over you, asking over and over again if you were okay. “No, no, I’m fine.” You tried your best to smile at your brother.
“Are you sure?” Gojo pressed further, recognizing the uncertainty in your eyes. This was a shock to everyone, Gojo especially, unsure how to feel about the glimpse into his future. Was it wise for him to know something that important? His feelings for you were already passional, and he was undeniably infatuated with you. A seer with comparable powers hadn’t been born in centuries, so the validity of your visions was unknown. But, visions were more tangible and easier to understand than prophecies. Was this a promise or a hint? Could it be changed based on the choices he made?
“Do you remember what happened?” Gojo finally asked after a stretch of silence.
Shaking your head, you looked over at the notebook beside you. The energy was palpable, and it was coming from it. You pushed it across the bed and nodded at him to take it. Part of you was scared to read its contents, from the impartial images that flashed through your mind, from the inexplicability of it all and the lack of understanding. What scared you the most, though, was that you were certain. What you saw was going to happen eventually. You didn’t know when or how it would happen, but it would. None of your predictions ever failed to come true.
Scanning the words, Gojo sat down on the bed next to you. He seemed calmer than you, acting like what he witnessed was an everyday experience. Somehow, it helped settle your thoughts. If he wasn't worried, there was no reason for you to be either. The trust you were developing for him only resonated deeper.
The students huddled around Gojo, trying to peak over his shoulder for a glimpse of the cursed energy.
“Let me see it!” Yuji whined.
That managed to make you laugh through your nose.
As soon as the sky is colored green,
The chosen one will realize their blindness
Souls will clash and die, but love will blossom
Children of clans from old fight demons that seek redemption,
The day the king returns, all hope will be lost until she aw—a. A. Awake. Awaken—
Death rebirths life
You saw what you'd written, the look of bewilderment on their faces, and the deafening silence that followed. Snatching the journal from Gojo, you brought it closer to get a better look.
“What language is that?” Nobara asked with furrowed eyebrows.
“It’s sanskrit,” Gojo replied lowly, confusion lacing his tone. Something odd was definitely happening. Only the oldest spells were written in that dead language, long before humans gained a proper understanding of what jujutsu entailed. He couldn’t understand all the words, only bits and pieces, referencing the oldest spells recorded in history.
“I-I don’t understand.” Your eyes glossed over with worry. “I don’t know Sanskrit.”
“I think only a few people do,” Megumi added.
“It looks like something hijacked your prophecy.” Gojo pointed out, noticing the green color fade from your cursed energy into something black and ancient. He pointed at one symbol. “This means I create.” He moved down the line. “And this means protection.”
“A protection spell?” Nobara muttered.
This felt too familiar, and the revelation was on the tip of Gojo’s tongue. Long ago, there was a clan of witches comprised entirely of women. Remnants of their bloodline still remained, but it had been hundreds of years since they were in power. Most of their history remained undocumented, but they specialized in prophecy and ancestral magic. Gojo skimmed through his memory, trying to recall the last written prophecy from the supreme.
Gojo looked at you, and it clicked into place.
A low, sinking feeling settled in your stomach.
“I need to speak with Y/N alone,” Gojo said to the students, not leaving room for debate. His tone was so firm that they reluctantly scrambled for the exit without protest.
Yuji glanced back at you hesitantly. Concern was engraved in his expression. He mouthed, text me before shutting the door behind him. You and Gojo listened to their footsteps scurrying down the hall, and he didn’t turn toward you until he heard all of their doors click shut. The scarcity they left behind was apparent, and you were growing nervous about what he would say.
“Do you know anything about your family history?”
All you could do was shake your head.
“I had my suspicions that you were more powerful, but now I’m suspecting you’ve been chosen as a conduit. What happened during your episode is called an emergence.”
Your demeanor stiffened. “What does that mean?”
“It could mean a lot of things. There hasn’t been a seer of your potential for centuries. There’s definitely a mix of bloodlines happening, as Yuji is Sukuna’s vessel and can remain in control of his body. You on the other hand, the eldest daughter, might be a descendant of a long-defunct clan that hasn’t been in power since Sukuna’s defeat, which they helped aid in. You are clearly vulnerable when you’re recording your prophecies, and I believe the Sanskrit was one of your ancestors taking that opening. I only know that it could be a protection spell, but we should have it translated just to make sure.” He paused. "
“How do you know this?”
“It’s only a theory so far. But the gift of prophecy is yours alone. The words you wrote… Will come true, all things considered,” Gojo trailed off, losing his train of thought. He wanted to tell you what you’d shown him and that the students had clearly seen something. But he didn't move; he barely even breathed. Ruminating over how beautiful you looked in that vision almost stopped his heart. He wasn't trying to be funny or flirty. He looked just as concerned and embarrassed as you, wishing he had the answers as always. But it seemed that only more questions arose when it came to you.
Gojo’s body language seemed conflicted. Maybe you were more spot-on than you assumed.
“Won't they?” he pried.
“I hope not.” You glanced away, only remembering the words of demise, scribbled over and over again before a dead language emerged, further adding to the confusion of your connection to this life. If Gojo's prediction was correct, it would strengthen the hopeless feeling rising in your chest that your entire life was a lie. How you now looked at yourself was anything but satisfactory, unaware of the promise of a better future that Gojo glimpsed.
A gift, like he said, but also a curse that you would never wish upon another. Every day that passed made you question if foresight really was a blessing.
All Gojo could configure was how tired you looked. A lifetime of information had been dumped on you within an hour. Instead of being hard on you like he initially promised in that bar, he wanted to comfort you. But that defeated look in your eyes spoke volumes of what you really needed.
There was no rush. At least, not yet.
"Why don't you get some rest,” he whispered, standing up to peel the covers back for you. “I’ll find a translator later.”
Sighing deeply, you glanced up at him before relenting, letting him pull the covers over your body. You watched Gojo as he stacked your books on your bedside table, tidying up what had been misplaced.
A part of you wished he would stay. And perhaps he would have if you asked, but the second your head snuggled into your pillow, the world started to fade away.
"Thank you, Satoru," you whispered faintly.
"For what, princess?"
"Everything." Was all you mustered in your enervated state. You really wanted to thank him for his willingness to help you, for not abandoning you or being afraid. For taking care of your brother, for not giving up, and for making you feel butterflies in a world of darkness and despair.
Turning off the lamp on your bedside table, Gojo watched your eyes flutter shut. He leaned down and pressed a kiss against your forehead. You hummed in response, the corners of your lips upturning sleepily.
He wondered if you saw the future as he did, speculating whether or not you wished for his presence the way he did yours. Regardless, he failed to express that you could rely on him no matter what and that you would never have to suffer alone again.
That may be the most potent form of love he could provide.

oh also,,, whenever you wanna write. chap 6 steve & robin pov blurb because i am so sure steve would be going on and on about bug once she left so my soul needs that thank you <3
im kicking myself idk why i didnt include this scene in the chapter like its PERFECT for what i have planned later but ,,, for now all i can do is make it a blurb n tell people to read it lmao
enjoy <3
"it didnt matter that you were an ass. i was still... obsessed with you." robins confession hangs in the air. her back is pressed against steves as they lay on the floor, bound together. his eye stings and his nose is numb and crusted with dried blood. he isnt sure why shes telling him this.
"even though all of us losers pretend to be above it all, we still just wanna be popular. accepted. normal."
the rope around steves wrists tense. he clenches his fists and bites the inside of his swollen cheek. acceptance. he thought he had that, once. when he was sixteen with a crowd of people who wouldve done anything for his attention.
now hes eighteen and the crowds bruises still tinge his body.
"if it makes you feel any better, having those things isnt all that great. seriously." it took him a long time to learn that. to recognize that his acceptance was merely a precedence. it wasnt real friendship. he wouldnt learn this until he met you, until you taught it to him. "it just baffles me. everything that people tell you is important, everything that people say you should care about, its all just... bullshit."
bullshit. nancy taught him that, too.
"its all just bullshit, it was so obviously bullshit. i was an idiot for not realizing it sooner," steve bites the inside of is cheek again. somehow, his lips remained untouched when he was being beaten by the russians. your lips still linger on his. "you know, the only person who saw through my bullshit was y/n. one day, before we knew about monsters and russian lairs, she said that she knew i wasnt a bad person. it... it stuck with me. here she was, y/n henderson, telling me i wasnt so bad."
"and then...?" robin is almost too afraid to press him further. shes never seen him like this, vulnerable and open. she didnt know that his history with you went beyond just a summer fling.
steve nudges his head back and sighs. "i messed up. i... i hurt people. people she cared about."
robin frowns. you wouldnt forgive someone so easily for that. theres more to what steve is saying, she just cant figure out what. "she must really love you, then. if she forgave you."
"i dont know if she loves me, but i know that she believes in me. sees someone worth putting up with." he huffs, he cant believe he will never see you again. he hates that he will never be able to thank you for seeing a version of him that no one else could. "it wasnt until i messed up that i realized she saw something in me. its ironic, isnt it? but i guess you gotta mess up to figure things out, right?"
he had to mess up to realize that he loved you, too.
"i hope so. i feel like my whole life has been one big error." robin admits. its the least she could do, offer steve a piece of herself in return for what hes offered her.
an unattractive snort escapes steve. he laughs, and his shoulders shake against robins. he understands exactly what she means. "yup."
"god, i wonder how y/n does it."
"does what?"
robin pauses, worries that she might reveal too much. but its steve. if theyre going to die together, he deserves to know. he has to know. "shes always able to see the error in people and love them anyways."
steve is quiet. he lets what she said settle over him. its what he loves the most about you. how youve always managed to see the good in people, even in someone as cruel as billy. he hadnt known that robin noticed this kindness in you, too.
she seems to understand you in a way only he and jonathan do.
"you know, i wish id known you in clicks class." its a peace offering. an extension of himself to robin for caring about you the way he does. no one really seems to be able, despite how easy steve finds it to be.
"yeah?"
"really, i do. maybe you couldve helped me pass the class." he breathes out, the thought of all he couldve done differently will always haunt him. king steve is dead, but the persona is a ghost he will never be able to get rid of. "maybe instead of being here, id be with y/n on some romantic getaway. maybe you wouldve given me the courage to do what i shouldve done sooner."
robin doesnt say anything. she turns her face away, presses her cheek against the concrete surface.
"robin?"
she swallows. "yeah. yeah, maybe. you wouldnt have been stuck slinging ice cream with me like some smuck."
steve shakes his head. hes worried hes said the wrong thing. "hey, dont get me wrong. i enjoyed being your smuck. it was fun while it lasted."
bittersweetness creeps upon robins face. she smiles, though its a sad one. shes going to die with the understanding of why youve fallen so hard for steve harrington. "yeah. it was."
then the doors burst open and the russian find them.

you're just a stranger I know everything about.
Tumblr media
Content warnings; sadness lol, confrontation, crying, a few Taylor references because I am unbearable, swearing, shouting, and just general angst. (no happy ending either oops)
a/n; day 1 of the matty 35 celebration! and what better way to start it than with some teacher au angst?? I know my birthdays always have an air of melancholy, so I feel like this is appropriate. I fear this is rushed and SO bad, but eh, too late now!! anyway, enjoy! maybe? if you can?
word count; 3.5k ish
(this fic is an extension from the "don't you think of me?" universe, which you can read here.)
✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿
The text sits on your phone. Every time the screen starts to dim, you tap it to keep it illuminated, yet you don't reply. You can't. Every muscle in your body feels frozen except that one finger.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
You watched the phone dim, but the name of the contact seemed to stay just as bright, even when the light is as low as it can be, “Matty. DO NOT TEXT.” glows on your screen. The warning was added against your will after a few too many drunk almost-phone calls.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
It’s an hour later when the phone dies. You knew it was coming, watching the percentage of charge drop slowly. You got the 15% warning. Then the 5%. But still, you did the same thing until the screen finally went black.
 Tap. Tap. Tap.
You don't need the phone to be lit up to remember what the message said anyway. You’d read it a thousand times over already. You’d analysed it, broken it down, performed autopsies on every single word, each letter was scorched into your brain.
“Hey y/n, long time no talk.
I hope you got my letter, if you didn't read it, that's okay. You already know everything I said. You always knew me better than I did.
Anyway, I know this is a long shot, but it's my birthday party next week, and I just can't imagine celebrating without you there. All I can think about is my last birthday, me and you in Hawaii. I don't expect it to be like that, but I would love it if you came. Even if you just had one drink, we don't have to talk. You can wave at me across the room and stay far, far away. Treat me like I've got the plague for all I care, but just come, please.
Give an old man his birthday wish?
See you there, maybe. I hope so, anyway.
Matty x”
You want to do the same to the text that you did to his letter, burn it to a crisp. But that doesn't exactly seem feasible, considering your phone was £500, and probably not flammable. plus, you had blisters on your fingers for weeks after the letter, and you dont know if it's worth it again.
But you can't deny that the blisters were oddly comforting. Reminding you what you did every time something brushed your digits, that he was gone, and you had the power. The ball was in your court, and you intended it to stay there.
And it was there for months. But Matty ruined that by sending that message, he got the power back whether he intended to or not. And it was made even worse by him telling Charli, and her endless phone calls begging you to come.
You’re so good at telling her its not going to happpen, and every message that comes in gets a firm “no.” or just gets point-blank ignored. She begs, saying that she needs a friend there and that she'll even let you choose a few songs for George’s DJ playlist. But you stay strong, shaking your head and sighing, insisting you've moved on, that chapter of your life is closed, and you'd like to keep it that way.
So you can't help but wonder how you ended up dressed up on a Saturday night standing outside of Matty’s house, bottle of wine gripped in your shaking hands and the distinct noise of your heels clicking against the pavement as you walk towards the house you've done everything you can to forget.
✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿
As soon as you walk in, you can tell the house is different from how you left it. Obviously, the strobe lights and birthday balloons were new, but even ignoring those, the whole space felt wrong. Even more unforgiving and cold, which was impressive considering every inch was covered with people, dancing and chatting. Still, a lifeless air hung around.
Your eyes darted around, finding the places that you used to occupy. The painting you bought Matty no longer hangs on the wall, replaced by yet another award. You can't help but feel bitter when you see the poster celebrating the album full of songs about you. The spot where your mug used to sit on the counter was empty, but the dark stained ring of coffee remained, forcing you to fight a small smile. maybe he hadn't completely erased you, even if he tried.
People recognise you immediately, and they don't hide their shock well. They might think that they do, smoothly recovering from their initial surprise, but they don't. You see their wide eyes and disbelieving glances, each person acting like you're a ghost haunting the house you once lived in.
You play pretend along with them, smiling as best you can and answering all their questions.
"How's work?"
"How have you been?"
"you seen any good films lately?"
but, you both know you're dancing around the one question they really want to be answered.
why the fuck were you here?
Eventually, the people stop coming, and Charli finds you, plying you with drinks and half-slurred thanks as she begs you to stay for just 5 more minutes. You agree, only because you have yet to catch a glimpse of the birthday boy, and that made everything just bearable.
You quickly regret that decision when you see him not even a minute later, standing by George in the DJ booth smoking a cigarette and laughing in that contagious way he always did. High pitched giggles and his head thrown back.
But he doesn't see you, so it's still okay. You can hang on a few seconds more. Your chest might be tightening with every moment, but you're not suffocating yet.
However, when a tall blonde girl walks over and starts making out with him, it suddenly starts to feel like the room is on fire, and you’re choking on the invisible smoke. The burn of the flames starts to feel all too real when he pulls away from her, though, and his eyes find yours as if they're magnetised together.
The realisation falls over his face immediately, dropping his hand from around her waist and trying desperately to weave through the crowd surrounding him. You don't stay to see if he breaks through the sea of people, already rushing out as fast as you can, forcing your cup into a stranger's hand and moving as fast as your legs can take you.
✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿❀✿✿
“y/n, stop.” You hear Matty’s voice behind you as you storm out his front door, but you don't turn. It sounds muffled, like you're being pulled underwater, and someone is screaming at you to get up. But the waves keep on pulling you deeper, and his voice becomes more faint with every step you take.
Yet, as soon as the cold air fills your lungs and his skin finally touches yours, you're pulled out. You spin around as soon as his fingers graze your shoulder, acting like even his touch is painful as you wrench away.
It was finally here, the time you were dreading. The time when it was just you, him, and everything that remained unsaid.
His eyes held yours as the silence of the night surrounded you, and you couldn't help but study him like you always did. He looked different. Not better or worse, just different. The colourful lights in the house had been hiding his features.
He had more lines on his face, deeper ones on his forehead, but the ones around his mouth had lightened, his smile lines fading. You could still tell even when it was slicked back with heavy gel that more grey streaks danced through his curls.
His eyes were the same, though. Always so telling, so revealing. If you wanted to know exactly what Matty Healy was thinking, look in his eyes. They spoke more than he did. Which sounds absurd if you’d ever had a conversation with him, but you'd bet your life on it.
You almost start to soften at the sight of him, old memories flooding back. Flashes of warm sun and hot kisses, filthy sex followed by soft breakfasts in bed. But then he speaks. Why do men always do that? Just as you're thinking about saying something and trying defusing the situation, they open their stupid mouth.
“Where are you going?” he asks softly, his chest heaving as he desperately sucks in oxygen, his lungs fighting to catch up.
“Home, Matty. I shouldn't have come. I don't even know why you invited me.” You try to spin and walk away, to finally move on. But of course, Matty’s voice drags you back under once again, and the same water fills your lungs.
“stay, please. i dont know why i invited you either, but I did. I didn't expect you to come. I just-” Matty stutters as he speaks as if his brain can't catch up with his mouth, things pour out that he doesn't mean. And he knows it. It's crystal clear as soon as his wide eyes shoot open, processing what he had really just said.
He didn't expect you to come? He put you through all this and didn't think you'd show up? What was the point then? Was it just to hurt you? Did he just want to see if he could? to see if his name popping up would have the same effect it always did, make you come running to him?
Your body moves without thinking, turning to face Matty with fires burning in your eyes, "You didn't think I would come? Then why the fuck did you even invite me, Matty?! to flaunt your new girlfriend? to try and "win" the breakup? Well congratulations, you've fucking won. I'm sure that model hanging off your arm is just perfect for you.” sarcasm drips from your every word, burning Matty like acid rain.
“No! It's not like that. I don't know. I think- I think I was just scared we’d never be in the same place again. That I would love you for the rest of my life, but I’d never see you again.” his voice softens as he speaks, and you almost want to give in, to crumble at his gentle tone and warm eyes. But he can't still love you, it seems impossible when you go back and see the destruction he left behind.
“That's what a breakup is, Matty. And did you ever think about me? About what I want? I can't help but think that maybe that would've been better. If being in the same room as you means feeling like this, I don't ever want to see you again.” You spit back angrily.
Matty's nostrils flare before he speaks, and you can see the anger building inside him. It takes a lot to get Matty to shout, but you can tell with every second you're making him inch closer. And you don't know why that makes you feel so good, but if you're honest, you don't want to know.
You want to keep going, keep pushing. You want him to act like he did that night. You needed to see it again. You needed to know he couldn't ever forget the night you're forced to remember.
“y/n, I don't- I just don't know what to say to you. What do you want from me? Do you want me to say that saying goodbye to you was the hardest thing I've ever had to do? That it ripped my heart out of my chest? That it fucking destroyed me? It did. Of course it did, you always made me feel everything. Losing you was no different.” You heard the way Matty’s voice cracked the more he spoke, but you ignored it. If he wanted to pull the dagger out of your heart, it was his job to deal with the bleeding.
“It didn't feel that hard when you stopped coming home at night. Or when you were fucking screaming at me. Or even that night when you walked out the door, you made it look pretty fucking easy that night. Because that's how it was Matty, you left. So don't come to me bitching and whining that it destroyed you. It's your fault. All of this is your fault.” you feel your voice wavering, but you suck in another breath, refusing to let him see you weaken, to see that wall you built start to break down.
“I deserved a better goodbye, Matty. If the goodbye you gave me hurt, the one I deserved would have fucking killed you.” You poke Matty in the chest harshly, pushing him back on his unsteady feet.
Streetlights flicker above you, the severe light dancing across Matty’s features. As long as you can remember, this light was busted, flicking on and off at will. It used to annoy you, distract you at night when the light poured through the curtains of Matty's bedroom.
Tonight, however, you loved it. No one could hide what they were really feeling under the harsh yellow glow. It seemed to pull every emotion to the surface of your face, illuminating even the darkest parts you wanted to hide.
So it was easy to spot when anger reared its ugly head in Matty. This time, he doesn't push it back. He physically can't.
He needs you to know that it did kill him to say goodbye, and that you can see that. he needs to understand how you can’t you see that he's the shell of the man he once was as he stands here?
“I apologised to you. I know you got my letter. Thanks for the response, by the way, a great way for us to get closure for whatever the fuck this was.” venom drips from every word that falls from his lips, and you have to fight to hide the smirk brewing on your face.
Finally. Finally, he was angry. He was pissed off. This is what you needed. You need the big fight, the final breakdown. Just one more time, you tell yourself, just one more screaming match, and you can move on.
A scoff involuntarily is ripped from your chest, as if you can't believe the utter bullshit coming from the man across from you. “I'm sorry, you think you deserve a response? What would I say in it, “Oh Matty, I'm so sorry! You're so right. Please let me come over so we can fuck all night!!” I know I'm not your usual airhead type, but you have to think more of me than that”
Your voice is high and piercing as you speak, and you know it. It always was when you started to get riled up. However, in this moment, you didn't care. You just needed something to happen, for him to get just as annoyed as you've been for fucking months.
“You don't think I deserved anything, though? Not even an acknowledgement?” his incredulous eyes met yours, begging you to take everything back and say you're sorry too, that it wasn't just his fault, even if he knew that wasn't true.
“Why should I? You never acknowledged my feelings. I don't think you asked me how I felt in the last month of our relationship.” Wet tears start brewing at your lashline. You want to fight them falling. But you can't, your resolve weakening with every second he stands in front of you.
“you know, that night we broke up, I realised something. you hadn't said you loved me in weeks. I said it every morning. But you'd hum back, or nod, or hug me. But you never actually said it.” Matty tries to cut in, and you already know what he wants to say. But you don't let him, powering through his half started words and desperate eyes.
After a few shaky breaths, your words start pouring again, “You treated saying “I love you” just like how you treated saying sorry. Like it would kill you to even think it. You've still never properly apologised for how you treated me, never said it to my face. But when we were together, I found myself saying sorry thousands of times over for feeling anything. I felt guilty for being pissed off at you, like I was doing something wrong. But I had every right to be! You had become a man I didn't even recognise, and for some reason, I still loved you, even when I shouldn't have. But at the time, I didn't see that. All I saw was you hurting. And because all I do is care, I wanted to stay. To stay for you, for us. Our family.”
Seconds pass, but they feel like minutes. The harsh wind blowing between you whistling through the street. Your eyes can't be dragged away from Matty’s, tears falling freely between the two of you.
And suddenly, you don't want him to be angry any more, you don't want this all to happen. You wish you could go back, never come here. But time doesn't work like that, so you’re stuck with tears pouring down your face as you stare at the man you once thought was the love of your life.
“Do you still have feelings for me?” Matty whispers, and you could see the desperation on his face, wet eyes tracing your every feature.
In that moment, he didn't know what he wanted your answer to be.
If you said no, it would kill him. Every ember of hope smouldering inside him would be burnt out, never to be relit.
But if you said yes, he doesn't know if he can let go. If you say you still feel anything for him, he knows he’ll be looking for you in every universe until he finds the one where you stay.
“I won't ever not love you, Matty. No matter how many times I tell myself I've moved on or that my life is better without you in it. I will always love you, and that's fucking agonising.” you sniffle as you speak, and you almost want to laugh at the absurdity of it all. How did you go from screaming at each other to professing your everlasting love?
Matty wants nothing more in that moment than to start begging you to come back, telling you how you can make it work, to talk about what he would do to get you back. But he knows he shouldn't, so he doesn't.
“Annie still thinks about you all the time you know,” Matty says, and your chest hurts from the whiplash of this conversation, jumping between memories of your old life so fast its almost unbearable. But you knew Matty. He needed to jump around to stay sane, so you jumped with him.
“I know, I remember you saying in the letter that she stopped asking when I was coming back. Is that true?” your voice drops again, as if you were sharing secrets at a sleepover.
“I thought it would be easier when she stopped asking, maybe then I'd not spend every waking hour thinking of you. But when the day came, it wasn't easier. It was like watching you leave right in front of me all over again. It brought me back to walking into the house for the first time after you left, looking at the empty space and trying to figure out how to fill it. Annie was filling it by asking about you, but suddenly she wasn't, and that glaring hole in my life was back." Matty's voice breaks as he speaks, but he clears his throat and tries to ignore it.
"I realised then that I'll never not think about you. Even if no one talks about you. Even if I never see you again, I'll still think of you.” Matty sucks in a shaky breath as soon as the words stop pouring out of him. His lungs seemed like they were sticking together with every word he said, and it felt like death. But he couldn't stop the rush of words, so he let the death surround him.
“Tell her I said hi” you reply meekly, not sure what to say in response to Matty’s outpour.
“I won't” matty says, forcing a half smile and chuckle that you half-heartedly return.
Once again, the blanket of silence surrounds the two of you, enveloping you in a way that feels all too familiar. So you break it, not letting yourself fall back into old patterns.
"i just dont understand how it all happened so quickly. how did you go from a stranger to the love of my life, only then to become someone I wish was a stranger all over again?" You whisper, your shaking hands coming to cup Matty's wet cheeks as you step closer. His hands wrap around your waist instantly, pulling you in and holding you so tight it almost hurts.
Silence hangs between the two of you. But its no longer painful or awkward, stilted or angry. It was a silence of acceptance, an acknowledgement that this had to be the final goodbye. There was no erasing the past, the demons that followed the two of you couldn't be ignored. So you were done, this was it.
Eventually, you pull away, and your face hovers in front of Matty’s for a few beats too long. You want to give him a final kiss, a proper goodbye. and you swear you can almost feel his lips against yours, taste the salty tears that would fall from your eyes. You don't, though. Your hands drop from his wet cheeks, and you walk away.
Every fibre inside you wants to turn around and go back to him. It feels impossible to face the future with the person you planned to spend it with standing 10 steps behind. But you do, moving forward and trying not to mourn the life you know you can never get back.

snad how do i get back into writing
i usually just go outside and look around for a while. fall in love a little bit with how the trees are moving and the flower thats growing out of the sidewalk and the grey hue of the clouds and the way fresh air feels in my lungs. i try not to think for a while. no music no screens. just me. (i believe the pros call this a grounding exercise. i just call it me time. its more fun that way)
then i go inside and write about it or whatever else comes to mind – and i try not to make a big deal out of it. if i treat writing like a huge deal, i get discouraged when its not perfect. so i let my writing breathe and be as imperfect as it wants to be. i let it be 10 words or 10.000 words, it doesn't matter – as long as it gets to be there.
rinse and repeat until it becomes a part of your life. just like making coffee or tying your shoelaces or whatever else is a gentle part of your life. you dont even have to go outside if you dont feel like it – you can also just look out the window or look at the ceiling or look to your right or look to your left. as long as you breathe deeply and find something you can find words about, it works.
dont pressure yourself to write a lot or write for a whole hour (unless that works for you). as long as you write something – you're writing. if you need goals, start simple. write 50 words today. and if thats too easy, a 100. 200. whatever works for you!
and when you're comfortable with it, it becomes easier. you can start projects. fanfiction or short stories or a whole book – whatever feels right to you. editing and plotting can be daunting but there are many resources online to use as guides!
its cool to lose yourself in it too – i spent 4 hours the other day furiously writing because i got really inspired. but its okay to also not be inspired and write 1 word and be done for the day, thats cool too. i just wrote 'chapter 2' yesterday and browsed pinterest for an hour. its still something! and today i wrote this post! and maybe i'll do some editing! dont let lack of words bring you down – there's always another day tomorrow.
bonus: whenever i dont know what to write, i like to focus on the senses. drink tea and write about the warmth and taste of it. feel different fabrics with your fingers and describe them. write about your heartbeat, in anyway that feels right in the moment. (looking up prompts sometimes overwhelms me, so i like to look around and just find something i could write a sentence about) dont worry about it not making sense or being interesting – just let the words out. and if you want something more, look up prompts! there's always a bunch to find! i've recently been using prompts from @creativepromptsforwriting !
anyways tldr; just breathe, find something simple and find words about it. let it be imperfect (you can always edit it later if you want to). ease writing into your life. set easy goals. pat yourself on the back. focus on the senses or look up prompts. and most importantly of all – do it for you. perfection doesnt exist but you do and you have the freedom to write whatever the hell you want.
also pinterest fucking rules. go on pinterest.

You step outside into the cool, cloudy afternoon, pulling your jacket tighter around you as the breeze picks up. The sky is a blanket of gray, the kind that makes everything feel a little more subdued, a little quieter. It’s the perfect day for the library—no distractions, just the soft rustle of pages and the occasional creak of old wooden chairs.
As you walk, your thoughts drift to the research paper you need to work on. It’s not due for another week, but you know yourself well enough to start early, especially with all the other assignments piling up. The library is usually your go-to spot for this kind of thing—somewhere you can focus without the constant buzz of your phone or Callie’s persistent banter.
You cross the campus, your shoes tapping lightly against the pavement, and soon the grand, old building looms ahead. The library always had a certain charm, with its towering bookshelves and the faint smell of worn paper and ink that seems to cling to every corner. Today, though, it feels a little different, like there’s something waiting for you inside, though you can’t quite place why.
Pushing the heavy wooden door open, you’re greeted by the familiar, comforting silence. The warmth of the space wraps around you, a stark contrast to the chilly air outside. You make your way to the front desk, where the librarian—a woman in her fifties with sharp eyes but a kind smile—looks up from her computer.
“Hi,” you say quietly, not wanting to disturb the stillness. “I reserved a study room for the afternoon.”
The librarian nods, typing something into her computer. “Yes, I see it here. Room 204, just down the hall to the right.”
“Thanks,” you reply, offering a small smile as you turn toward the hallway she indicated.
As you walk, your mind starts to wander. You can’t help but think about everything you need to get done—research, notes, the first draft. But there’s also a part of you that’s relieved to have a reason to escape for a while, to lose yourself in the work and forget about everything else, even if just for a few hours.
The hallway is dimly lit, the soft glow from the overhead lights casting long shadows against the walls. Room 204 is near the end, and when you reach the door, you hesitate for just a second. There’s no real reason for it, just a strange feeling in your gut that you can’t shake. It’s probably just nerves, you tell yourself, shaking your head slightly as you reach for the door handle.
But when you push the door open, you stop dead in your tracks when you saw someone is already inside.
He’s sitting at the small table, a book open in front of him, his back to you. Dark hair falls just above his collar, and even though you can’t see his face, there’s something familiar about him. Your heart skips a beat as recognition dawns on you.
It’s him—the guy you bumped into at the park.
He hasn’t noticed you yet, too absorbed in whatever he’s reading. For a moment, you consider backing out quietly and pretending you never saw him, but you know that’s not an option. This is your reserved room, after all.
You take a deep breath, trying to steady the sudden fluttering in your chest. It’s not like you did anything wrong, and it’s not like you’re going to see him outside of this small coincidence, right? But still, something about him being here—being so close—makes you feel off-balance.
With another deep breath, you clear your throat gently to get his attention. When he turns around, his eyes meet yours, and for a split second, you think you see a flicker of recognition in them too.
“Um, I think this room was reserved…” you say, your voice coming out a little softer than you intended.
He blinks, his expression unreadable, before he nods slowly. “Is it? Sorry,” His tone is neutral, but there’s something in his gaze that feels like he’s sizing you up, trying to figure you out.
You’re not sure what to say, so you just nod, feeling awkward under his stare. “It’s fine. I just… I need to get some work done, so…”
He stands up, closing his book and tucking it under his arm. “I’ll get out of your way.”
For some reason, the thought of him leaving so abruptly makes your chest tighten. Before you can stop yourself, you blurt out, “You can stay if you want. I mean, as long as you don’t mind sharing.
He looks at you, surprised, like he wasn’t expecting that at all. For a moment, you’re worried he’s going to refuse and leave anyway, but then he just shrugs. “Alright.”
You sit at the small table, trying to focus on your notes and ignore the occasional flicker of movement from across the room. The guy has settled into the seat a few chairs down from you at the large table, his presence making the room feel just a bit smaller. The quiet hum of concentration fills the space, but your mind keeps drifting back to the bump into him at the park.
You mentally berate yourself. Why did you have to be so fucking awkward? It’s not like you did anything wrong. But the way he looked at you, the way he seemed to regard you with that detached curiosity—ugh, you wish you could rewind and handle it better.
After a while, you notice he’s glanced your way a few times, maybe sensing your quiet discomfort. You try to focus harder on your work, shuffling your papers and flipping through your textbook with renewed determination. It’s hard, though, when you keep catching his eye.
Finally, he puts down his book and clears his throat, breaking the silence. “I’m Sunghoon. I uh… I’m sorry if I’ve been a distraction,” he says, his tone softer than before. “I didn’t mean to intrude.”
You look up, caught off guard by his sudden attempt at conversation. He seems almost... tentative, like he’s trying to find the right way to approach. You manage a small, slightly awkward smile. “I’m… Ren, and it’s really okay. I mean, you’re not really distracting me. I’m just... not very good at this whole ‘sharing a study room’ thing.”
He raises an eyebrow, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. “Yeah, I get that.”
You nod, feeling a bit of the tension ease. “Actually, I owe you an apology for earlier. In the park. I kind of ran into you without paying much attention.”
Sunghoon’s eyes narrow slightly as he tries to place the memory, and then he nods slowly, as if recalling the encounter. “Oh, right. I remember. It’s fine, really. I was lost in thought myself.”
“Well, I’m sorry anyway,” you say, feeling a bit sheepish. “It was kind of a clumsy moment on my part.”
“It’s no big deal,” he replies, his tone a touch warmer now. “I guess it’s a bit of a coincidence running into you here.”
You raise an eyebrow, curious. “Do you come to this library often?”
“Not really,” he admits. “I was just looking for a quiet place to get some reading done. I didn’t think I’d end up sharing it with someone else.”
There’s a moment of silence as you both absorb this new, somewhat awkward dynamic. It’s strange, talking to him now in this confined space when you barely knew him before. But there’s something oddly comforting about it, too.
“What are you working on?” he asks, shifting slightly in his seat.
You glance at your notes, feeling a little self-conscious. “Just a research paper. Nothing too exciting.”
He huffs a small laugh through his nose. “Riveting.”
You both share a brief, understanding smile, the kind that comes from knowing exactly how tedious academic work can be. The conversation feels surprisingly easy, considering the earlier tension.
“You know,” you say, trying to make light of the situation, “if you need to, you can borrow a book or something. I’ve got a few extra on my shelf.”
Sunghoon’s eyebrows rise in mild surprise. “Thanks. I might take you up on that.”
The atmosphere in the room shifts slightly as you both settle into a more comfortable silence, the initial awkwardness melting away. For a moment, it feels like maybe this unexpected encounter isn’t so bad after all.
You go back to your work, but the room no longer feels quite as small or as suffocating. The quiet hum of the library surrounds you as you both settle into your work. The occasional shuffle of papers and the soft scratching of pens fill the room, but now it feels more like a shared experience rather than a series of isolated activities.
After a few minutes, Sunghoon shifts in his seat, glancing over at you. “What’s your paper about?”
You look up from your notes, surprised by the question but pleased to explain. “It’s about the impact of narrative structure on character development in contemporary fiction. I’m analyzing how different authors use varying narrative techniques to shape their characters and drive the story forward.”
Sunghoon nods, a slight frown of concentration on his face. “Interesting. Sounds hard.”
“It is,” you agree, feeling a bit more animated. “But it’s actually kind of fun to dive into. I love seeing how different techniques can change the reader’s perception of a character. Like, one author might use a nonlinear timeline to create suspense, while another might use multiple perspectives to deepen the character’s backstory.”
He tilts his head slightly, considering your words. “Sounds like you’re really into it.”
“Yeah, I guess I am,” you admit with a shrug. “It’s just one of those things that fascinates me. How authors can play with structure to make their stories more engaging or thought-provoking. What about you? What are you working on?”
Sunghoon’s eyes narrow slightly as he gathers his thoughts. “Literature analysis, mostly. Nothing thrilling. Trying to make sense of a few old texts for a class.”
“That sounds standard,” you say, nodding sympathetically. “Sometimes the older texts can be challenging, especially when trying to find their relevance to modern contexts. Do you find it difficult?”
He shrugs. “Sometimes. It’s tough to relate to stuff written that ago.”
You nod, understanding his struggle. “Yeah, I get that. It’s like trying to connect with a different time period’s way of thinking and values. But sometimes, it’s surprising how much those old texts can reflect on our current world.”
Sunghoon considers this, looking thoughtful. “I suppose that’s true. There’s always something to learn, even if it’s not immediately obvious.”
You smile at his insight. “Exactly. And sometimes, the connections we find are what make studying those texts worthwhile.”
A comfortable silence falls between you as you both return to your work. Every so often, you catch Sunghoon glancing up, his eyes meeting yours briefly before he goes back to his reading. It’s not uncomfortable—more like a silent acknowledgment that you’re both sharing this space in a new way.
After a while, Sunghoon speaks again, his tone casual but curious. “So, do you always come here to study, or is this a rare occurrence?”
You think about it for a moment. “I usually come here when I need to focus. There’s something about the quiet that helps me concentrate better than anywhere else. Plus, the library has this really calming atmosphere. Do you come here often?”
“Not really,” he admits. “I just needed a quiet spot today. I don’t usually spend much time here.”
You raise an eyebrow, intrigued. “Is there another place you prefer?”
He smirks slightly. “Not really. I guess I just like switching things up. Keeps it from getting too monotonous.”
You laugh softly, appreciating his perspective. “I get that. Sometimes a change of scenery can make a big difference. Though, I have to admit, the library has its own charm.”
Sunghoon’s expression softens a bit. “Yeah, I guess it does. It’s not so bad, being here with someone.”
You feel a warm flush of satisfaction at his words. “I’m glad you think so. It’s nice having some company.”
The conversation flows easily, punctuated by shared smiles and understanding nods. As you both continue working, the initial awkwardness has transformed into a subtle camaraderie. The library, with its muted tones and soft light, feels like a fitting backdrop for this unexpected connection.
Hours pass, and before you know it, the sun has begun to set outside, casting a gentle glow through the library windows. The shared silence now feels comfortable rather than tense, and the occasional exchanges between you and Sunghoon have become a pleasant part of the study session.
As the sky outside darkens, you finally close your notebook with a sigh, realizing that your study session has come to an end. You stretch your arms above your head, feeling the slight ache from sitting still for so long. Sunghoon, across the table, seems to have reached the same conclusion as he closes his book and glances over at you.
“I think that’s enough for today,” you say, your voice cutting through the comfortable silence.
He nods, offering a small smile. “Yeah, I think so too. Thanks for sharing the room with me.”
“No problem,” You reply, standing up and gathering your things. “See you around, maybe?”
You watch as he leaves, his presence lingering in the air long after the door closes behind him. It’s strange how quickly the dynamic between you shifted from awkward strangers to something almost resembling camaraderie. Shaking off the thought, you pack up your own things and head out into the now dimly lit hallway.
As you walk home, your thoughts drift to the letter you received earlier. The one from “Snow,” written in scratchy black ink. The way he described that winter night had captivated you—how the snow had fallen silently, blanketing everything in white, creating a world that was both serene and isolating. There was something poetic in the way he captured the moment, as if he was seeing the world through a lens that most people overlook.
You drop your bag by the door, letting out a tired sigh as you kick off your shoes. The familiar warmth of your apartment wraps around you, and the comforting smell of whatever Callie’s cooking wafts from the kitchen. She’s at the stove, stirring a pot, but her eyes light up when she sees you.
“Finally back, huh? How was the library?” she asks, a teasing lilt in her voice. She’s already grinning, sensing you might have something interesting to share.
You head to the kitchen, leaning against the counter. “It was... eventful, actually.”
Callie raises an eyebrow, her interest piqued. “Oh? Do tell.”
You try to keep your tone casual, but there’s no hiding the surprise in your voice. “So, remember that guy I told you about? The one I ran into at the park?”
Callie’s grin widens. “Yeah, Mr. Tall, Dark, and Broody. What about him?”
“Well, I reserved a study room at the library, right? And guess who was already in there when I walked in?”
Her eyes go wide, and she immediately stops stirring. “No fucking way. You’re kidding.”
“I’m serious,” you say, feeling a mix of disbelief and something you can’t quite place. “He was just sitting there, reading, like it was the most normal thing in the world.”
Callie puts down the spoon and gives you a knowing look. “That’s it. It’s fate. The universe is literally throwing you two together and you can't even deny it.”
You laugh, shaking your head. “Fate? Really? More like a weird coincidence. He didn’t even remember me at first.”
Callie smirks, crossing her arms. “Oh, please. A guy like that? He remembered. He’s just too cool to show it.”
You roll your eyes, but you can’t help the smile tugging at your lips. “Anyway, we ended up sharing the room. It was awkward at first, but then we actually talked a bit. He’s... different than I expected.”
“Different how?” Callie leans in, clearly invested now.
“He’s quiet,” you explain, trying to find the right words. “But not in an unfriendly way. Just... reserved. And he’s not as intimidating as he seemed at the park. We talked about our classes, and it was kind of nice.”
Callie wiggles her eyebrows. “Nice, huh? So, when’s the wedding?”
You laugh, lightly smacking her arm. “Stop. It’s not like that. It was just a study session.”
“Sure, sure,” she says, grinning like a cat, “But you know what they say: first the study session, then the joint library card.”
“Oh my God, you’re insufferable,” you groan, but you can’t help but laugh with her.
Callie picks up the spoon again, but she’s still eyeing you with that mischievous glint. “Okay, jokes aside, you have to admit it’s a little weird. Running into him twice like that? There’s something there, Ren. I’m telling you.”
You shake your head, trying to stay grounded. “It’s just a coincidence, Callie. It’s not like a stupid meet cute where he asked for my number.”
She smirks, clearly unconvinced. “Mmm-hmm. Well, coincidence or not, I say you keep an eye out for the next encounter. It’s like watching a drama, and I need the next episode.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” you say, smiling as you turn to leave the kitchen.
“Oh, wait!” Callie suddenly calls after you, her voice filled with excitement. “What about the pen pal thing? Did you get a letter back today?”
You pause, remembering the note from “Snow” in your bag. “Yeah, I did. This one--” You say as you hand her the paper, “He wrote about a snowy night, and it was really beautifully written. It felt more personal than my story about baking like a lizard, I guess.”
Callie’s eyes light up even more. “A mysterious, poetic pen pal and a broody study buddy? Ren, your life is turning into a rom-com, and I’m here for it. You have two love interests now--”
You can’t help but laugh as you head to your room. “Yeah, no. I have zero love interests and you’re completely delusional.”
Once in your room, you pull out the letter from Snow and read it again, feeling the weight of his words. There’s something about the way he describes the snowfall that resonates with you, like he’s inviting you into a moment only he could truly capture.
With Callie’s advice still in mind, you sit down at your desk and start to write your response. This time, you decide to keep it light—something more casual, to balance the seriousness of his letter.
Snow,
Honestly, I’m really impressed with your description of that night. There’s something about the way snow can transform the world into something quiet and serene… Your words really captured that feeling, and I found myself thinking about it all day.
As for me, I’ve been pretty busy with schoolwork. I’m an art student, so my days are filled with sketching, painting, and trying to figure out how to make my final project look even halfway decent. It’s a bit stressful, but I guess that’s just part of the process, right?
I’ve also been spending a lot of time with my best friend. She’s kind of a wild card—really funny, but usually at my own expense kind of way--She’s always finding ways to keep things interesting. I don’t know what I’d do without her, honestly. She keeps me grounded, especially when I’m getting too caught up in my own head. Do you have a friend like that?
Anyway, I hope you’re doing well. I’m curious to hear more about you—what you’re studying, what you like to do for fun, that sort of thing. I feel like we’re getting to know each other in this strange, anonymous way, and I have to admit, it’s not as terrible as I thought it would be.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best, Sunny
You read over the letter once more, feeling satisfied with the tone. It’s casual, friendly, and maybe a bit more revealing than your first one, but that’s okay. You want to keep this exchange light, maybe even bring a bit of normalcy into the otherwise mysterious and poetic correspondence.
Folding the letter carefully, you tuck it into an envelope and address it to “Snow.” As you seal it, you feel a strange mix of anticipation and curiosity. There’s something nice about not having to worry about a physical interaction, something calm about waiting a week to hear back.
— — — — — — — — —— — — — — — —
As Sunghoon stepped out of the library, the evening air greeted him with a cool breeze that ruffled his dark hair. He pulled his jacket tighter around him, his thoughts lingering on the girl he had just spent the last few hours with. The encounter still played in his mind, like a scene from a film he couldn’t quite figure out.
Ren. The name floated through his mind as he walked, hands in his pockets, keeping his gaze low and his steps measured. She was different from what he had expected—easier to talk to, less guarded than he had assumed. The way she had apologized for bumping into him at the park was almost... charming. It wasn’t often that he found himself in such situations, let alone with someone who could engage him in conversation without making him feel like he had to put on an act.
As he approached his apartment building, his thoughts shifted to the letter he had written earlier, the one to his mysterious pen pal, Sunny. The fact that he was even participating in this anonymous exchange still baffled him, but there was something about her letters—something that drew him in, made him want to write back. He was never one to share much about himself, but with Sunny, it felt different. Maybe it was the anonymity, or maybe it was the way she seemed to genuinely appreciate the small details he chose to reveal.
He pushed open the door to his apartment, the familiar scent of takeout hitting him as soon as he stepped inside. Jake was sprawled out on the couch, one arm thrown over his eyes as he half-heartedly flipped through channels.
“Hey, man,” Jake called out as Sunghoon shut the door behind him. “Where’ve you been? You’re usually back earlier.”
“Library,” Sunghoon replied, shrugging off his jacket and hanging it by the door. “Needed to get some work done.
Jake sat up, his interest piqued. “Library, huh? That’s not like you.”
Sunghoon hesitated for a moment before responding. “Needed to study. Remember that girl I mentioned? The one from the park?”
Jake’s eyes widened in recognition. “The one you said was too spacey to be in public?”
Sunghoon nodded, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. “Yeah. Ran into her again. Apparently she’d reserved the study room I was in and I didn’t realize. We ended up sharing it.”
Jake let out a low whistle, clearly amused. “Bro… come on…”
“Don’t start,” Sunghoon warned, rolling his eyes as he dropped onto the couch beside Jake.
Jake chuckled, nudging him playfully. “Come on, man. Twice in a row? That’s gotta mean something.”
Sunghoon leaned back, staring at the ceiling. “It doesn’t mean anything—it’s different. We go to the same school, we’re bound to see the same people.”
Jake raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Different how?”
“Just... not what I expected,” Sunghoon said, his thoughts drifting back to Ren. “She’s easy to talk to. Not like most people.”
Jake grinned. “Easy to talk to, huh? That’s high praise coming from you. So, what’d you two talk about?”
Sunghoon shrugged, trying to play it off. “School, mostly. She’s nice…an art student. We talked about our classes, what we’re working on.”
Jake’s grin widened. “Nice? Dude, you’re practically gushing. What happened to Mr. Stoic?”
“Shut up,” Sunghoon muttered, though he couldn’t help the small smile that formed on his lips. “It’s not like that. She’s just... interesting.”
“Interesting is good,” Jake said, giving him an encouraging nudge. “So, are you gonna see her again?”
Sunghoon hesitated, thinking about the letter he still needed to send back to Sunny. “I don’t know. Maybe. But there’s something else I’ve been thinking about.”
“Oh? What’s that?” Jake asked, sensing there was more on Sunghoon’s mind.
Sunghoon sighed, pulling out the letter he had received from Sunny earlier that week. “This. It’s from my pen pal. We’re supposed to be writing to each other all semester. Her name’s Sunny—at least, that’s what she calls herself in the letters.”
Jake leaned in, curiosity piqued. “Sunny? That’s cute. What’s she like?”
Sunghoon handed Jake the letter, watching as his friend’s eyes scanned the elegant cursive, the purple ink standing out against the white paper. Jake let out a low whistle as he finished reading.
“Wow, this girl can write,” Jake said, clearly impressed. “So, what’s your deal with her?”
Sunghoon leaned back, crossing his arms over his chest. “I don’t know. It’s weird, but... I like writing to her. She’s different. I don’t even know what she looks like, and maybe that’s why I like talking to her, there’s no physical interaction—I just feel like I’m getting to know her better than most people I see every day.”
Jake handed the letter back, nodding with raised brows. “Sounds like you’ve got yourself a pen pal crush, my dude.”
“It’s not a crush,” Sunghoon insisted, though the thought made his cheeks warm slightly. “It’s just... interesting. The whole anonymous thing. Makes it easier to be honest, I guess.”
Jake nodded knowingly. “Well, whatever it is, it sounds like you’ve got something good going. Maybe you’ll figure out who she is by the end of the semester.”
“Maybe,” Sunghoon mused, his thoughts drifting back to both Sunny and Ren. What were the chances that two completely different people would enter his life in such an unexpected way? And why did it feel like there was a connection he couldn’t quite grasp yet?
Jake gave him a playful shove. “Well I think it all means you have to make a move on one of them, or hell both. Shoot your shot you know? You have a connection with both of them, now’s the chance.”
“No, no—I barely know either of them,” Sunghoon sighed, shaking his head.
”Not yet, you don't,” Jake said pointing at his friend, “But that’s why you gotta star somewhere. Get to know her, show some interest. If it doesn’t work out then no harm done, right?”
Sunghoon hesitated, thinking about the easy smile Ren gave him and the way she seemed genuinely interested in what he had to say. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to get to know her or was against it, he just didn’t really know how to go about it. Making friends was harder than Jake made it seem.
”I’m not exactly…. thrilling to talk to,” Sunghoon admitted.
Jake laughed, “You don't have to be easy to talk to, bro. You just have to be yourself. You’re quiet, sure but people like to know they’re being listened to and you’re great at that. Plus the air of mystery would benefit you, she’d have interest in unpacking your broody personality. Maybe next time ask her about her art stuff. Just show a bit of interest, you know?”
Sunghoon frowned slightly, mulling over the advice, “Sure, I guess I could try that.”
”See! And you write well so maybe you can try to snag Sunny, too,” Jake nodded approvingly.
”I—“ Sunghoon looked at the purple ink on the letter he was holding, “—really like Sunny’s letters….”
Jake’s grin turned sly, “See, you’ve got options man! Maybe she’s cute too, you’ll never know. Like I said, maybe you’ll meet her one day.” Jake shrugged, looking at the TV for a moment, “You’re in a pretty sweet spot, my friend. Two girls, both of the interesting, and you get both of their attention.”
Sunghoon sighed, feeling the weight of jake’s words. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to try—he just wasn’t used to putting himself out there to meet new people like this. Maybe Jake was right though, maybe it was time to make an effort to see where things might go, whether with Sunny or with Ren.
Sunghoon bid Jake a good night, and retired to his room. He was feeling a mix of apprehension and something else—something that felt a little like excitement. He thought about that fact that he should be getting a letter soon, and what he would say in response, how he might approach Ren if he saw her again. It was new territory for him, but maybe it was time to step out of his comfort zone.
As he lay in bed, his thoughts drifted back to that snow night he wrote about to Sunny—and the way simply being around Ren in the study room made him want to talk to her. Maybe Jake was right—not that he was right often—but he could try.
Sleep came slowly, his mind filled with the image of a snow-covered night and a pair of curious eyes that seemed to see right through him.

Welcome to my throwback day contribution!
So I did a post a while back talking about what I would have done with the Fowl Twins books, and a subsequent chapter by chapter breakdown for the second book. And thus, as my throwback, I'm gonna break down what I would have done for "Deny all Charges" aka the third one.
(Just to preface, I never finished the third book. I dont know what Eoin was doing there, but I wanted no part of it)
Chapter 1
The Twins have recently turned 14. Following the trend of his character development from my version of book 2, Beckett has really come into his own, doubling down on his talent for engineering and languages, and is actively working on writing his first children's book (since he found that, with all his passion for the "Alien Pooping Boy" books, he might as well try writing all his ideas for himself). Beckett also keeps bees now, since he can talk with them, and bees are one of the only creatures that consent to their domestication by humans. Myles is as snarky as ever, but is a bit less vicious about it, since he's begun realising how hurtful some of his statements can be.
The boys are in Italy with their parents, visiting their Uncle Foxy and his boyfriend, one Giovanni Zito (because I said so). They're just discussing when Artemis will be returning from Mars when the boys get a message. The Crown of Frond they saved from the last book has been stolen from the Section 8 archives. The trail leads to Venice, so the boys head over to investigate.
They tail behind the fairy thief who they believe stole the item as they twist and turn through the city until they come to a church. Just as they get there, however, the building blows up. No one is hurt, but they can only assume their target is dead.
Chapter 2
As they're preparing to head home, Myles keeps fretting about the explosion. He goes over the security footage over and over, until he remembers that many churches have catacombs under them. He keeps researching until he comes across footage of their thief being whisked away by a boat that looks like an ACRONYM vestal.
Cut to their fairy nervously pacing around a safe house, wondering if the money was worth it- BLAM! Beckett knocks down the door. Between the two of them (and Whistle Blower, who they keep threatening to feed the fairy to) their thief confesses that he stole the crown for one Lord Teddy Bleedham-Drye. The only other information he has is that he's going to be attacking a fairy magical research lab on the Devon moors soon.
They leave him, wandering through the streets to where Lazuli parked the shuttle. Beckett wonders if Artemis will be back in time for this adventure, and how it would be fun for them to get to solve this problem together. Myles is less enthused, noting that Artemis would probably get himself killed with his lack of self preservation instincts.
Chapter 3
A few days later, Lazuli, Myles, and Beckett (with Whistle Blower in his backpack) scale the Devonshire Moors. Since the area is well known for its military training camps they deemed it best to go by foot.
Lazuli is doing rather well since the last book, discovering she was from a secret branch of the Frond royal family. She's practically been adopted by Lily Frond, since most of Lily's family isn't great and she always wanted a sister. They may only be distantly related, but its the only family Lazuli's ever had (my heart!)
The magical testing facility is disguised as a Tor (big piles of granite that jut from the moors surface). But its clearly been attacked recently, with chunks taken from the surface, revealing the buildings structure underneath.
They head inside, learning that all the scientists and engineers have been kidnapped, and one piece of tech stolen. A magic amplifier. It was originally being developed for No1, as a way for him to cast spells on mass like healing the Amazonian rainforests or large groups of people during emergencies.
As the Regrettables leave they find themselves surrounded by the British Army. They're about to be fired upon, when a bright light shines down upon them. A ship descends, and a familiar voice in their ear pieces telling them to cover their eyes. There's a brilliant flash of light, and the army men drop to the ground, dazed and mind wiped of the last hour.
The spaceship's pod descends and two people step out. Butler and Artemis.
Chapter 4
Everyone (except for Myles) is overjoyed to see Artemis. He and Butler are rushed down the Haven with the Regrettables, and tearfully reunite with their friends, before buckling down and getting to business. (yes, Artemis is most pleased to be back on earth because he gets to wear suits again. Go figure)
Myles does not appreciate being side-lined like this, being treated like a child as Artemis and the others take over the situation. (Beckett tries to point out that they are actually children, but it doesn't go well for him). Its actually Lily Frond who gives them the means to listen in on the situation, having the keys to the office connecting to the situation room.
Turns out the machine is missing one key element, a very rare crystal that draws in magical energy from its environment and stores it within itself. They decide to contact Minerva about it, but it will take a day or so, since she's still a smuggler in this story, but a more high quality smuggler (also, Artemis is Godfather to Minerva's daughter. Its so sweet). Myles convinces Beckett they need to go to Minerva themselves, for which they steal a pod and head for the surface. (They leave Lazuli behind since they want her to, you know, keep her job)
Not that Beckett doesn't like a good heist, but he's usually the impulsive of of the two. He doesn't understand where this grim determination has come from with his brother. When pressed on the subject, Myles simply points out they shouldn't be overlooked like this.
Chapter 5
They turn up in New Orleans, and Minerva is very confused, but agrees to help when the situation is explained. Turns out, she has just the rock they are looking for, and a large chunk of it at that. The Twins buy it off her (because they got that Fowl money, you know what I mean?) and decide to take it to a secure location so Teddy cant get his hands on it.
Teddy gets his hands on it. He attacks the boys as they're transporting the crystal. During his big Villain monologue, he reveals he wants to be King of England, and he will use the fairy people to do so. He does, however, accidentally mention that a certain "she" will demand her share as well.
The twins are pushed from the pod, but not before Myles accidentally manages to get hold of a baby chunk of the crystal. They fall into the Atlantic Ocean, being picked up by a fairy rescue vestal.
Chapter 6
Back at Villa Eco, the twins get scolded by their parents and Artemis. Beckett kind of accepts it, but Myles refuses to. He runs away, reflecting on how all of this has been an absolute mess, that maybe they really should have left it to Artemis and the others.
When he catches up to him, Artemis and Myles have a heart to heart. Myles admits that he used to idolise Artemis, that he thought his big brother could do anything. But then he got himself killed at the end of the Last Guardian. Worse than that, he got killed from information Myles supplied him with after being possessed. He wants to be an equal to his brother, he wants to be close to him, but he felt his death stronger than anyone else. And then, when Artemis came back, he headed off to Mars like an Interstellar hipster on a gap year trying to "find himself".
Artemis apologises, explaining that he'd lived his first life for other people for so long, being the genius, the heir, Artemis Fowl II, that he didn't really know who Artemis was away from those things. He just wanted to keep his family safe, even though he had no idea how to be anything but a stranger in said family. That he should have reflected more on how him and Beckett were affected, that he does see them as his equals, and that he's sorry.
They hug it out. Myles is crying, Artemis is crying (I'm crying!)
Chapter 7
Much like the Death Star, it turns out this magical amplifier has a very specific (plot contrived) flaw. The crystal at its heart is not only rare, but its very fragile. If shot through with the right frequency, it will shatter and explode, all the magical energy contained inside it bursting out in one shot. However, they don't know what that frequency is, since they would have to run tests on some of that specific crystal vein.
Myles is happy to announce that he has one of said crystals, but will only hand it over to the LEP if they agree to let him and Beckett help. Their parents try and argue against it, but finally (finally) realise that nothing will stop their sons if theirs something they want to do and so elect to come along and help.
They fly across to Isle of Scilly to meet up with the rest of the team. Lord Teddy's manor is a virtual fortress, guarded by the fairy scientists and engineers he had kidnapped from Devon. They're clearly being mind controlled, and they have anti shield goggles on, so there's no way they could attack the house by air.
They had, however, contacted the Hortenut Seven, through Mulch, to dig them in. While they face off against Teddy, the dwarves will disable the guards, in exchange for Artemis backing their political interests (he has quite a bit of sway with the People since his resurrection, being viewed more like a Hero than the monster he used to be).
Artemis Sr and Angeline are actually surprisingly good help navigating the halls of Childblain House (turns out Angeline used to be a cat-burglar and Tim was, you know, a former crime lord so that helps). They reach the grand hall where the machine has been set up, the crystal humming away menacingly.
They each separate into one of three teams. Team A, Myles, Fowl Sr, and Butler (who between them are lugging a large box). They will be dug around the back of the hall by Mulch through the garden. Team B, Angeline, Juliet, and Beckett move to various positions around darkened hall out of sight ready to snatch the crown at the first opportunity. And Team C, Holly and Lazuli, who are shielded in the rafters with their guns ready if something goes wrong. Foaly is also there, in spirit, or rather on tech support, using his little bug drones from the Last Guardian to keep eyes on everyone.
Taking a breath Artemis, now wearing a gloop tie and glasses, steps into the hall.
Chapter 8
Artemis tries shooting at Teddy, but misses, being tackled and chained down by fairy guards for his trouble. When Teddy comes closer to inspect the intruder, he's told that this is "Myles" come back from the future to stop him. The maddened Lord wholeheartedly believes this, and takes it as a sign of his future victory. Since, if he hadn't won, there would be no need for "Myles" to have been sent back.
The crystal is changed up. Teddy is monologuing, strolling up have the crown on his head hooked up to the machine, regal in his throne
BLAM
He's shot in the chest.
Teddy looks over, betrayed, as Sister Jeronima, or rather her corps puppeteered around by Opal's ghost emerges.
All the fairies are suddenly released from the crowns spell and try to run, only to freeze back in place as Opal puts the crown on her own head.
Of course she has a villain speech, and of course she knows its Artemis. She talks about how he's always been small and pathetic, with a mind that could once rule the world but no resolve to do so.
She gets her guards to round up all the various Fowl's, Butler's and others. She hooks herself up to the machine, ordering Holly and Lazuli to take aim at their friends.
BOOM!
The crystal explodes, the machine Myles had set up vibrating at just the right frequency to release the magic trapped inside. There's chaos, Opal trying to order her fairy minions as the humans all rush forward to get the crown. Angeline is actually the one to get Opal, punching her in the face with a war cry of "that's for what you've done to my sons!" as Whistle Blower tears Opal/Jeronima's ankles to shreds.
But not before Lazuli goes to take a shot at Artemis, with Myles pushing him out the way.
Chapter 9
Between the two of them, Holly and Lazuli manage to heal Myles, where he wakes up in his big brothers arms.
It ends with them all sitting on the beach eating ice cream, waiting for the LEP to come sort out the mess and take Opal into custody.
They give the crown to Lazuli to look after, who resolves to hide it just as her ancestor Darach wanted.
Artemis tells his brothers how truly proud he is of them, and how he hopes this is the Fowl's legacy. He called an old man by Beckett, and a simpletoon by Myles.
The end
(I have been writing since 3am and now it is 7am. Why do I do this to myself? I have no idea)

What's your process for writing a fic?
generally kind of in this order
get sudden fic idea
hastily write it down on my giant idea document
if i daydream about the fic idea frequently enough to know i want to write it someday, i flesh it out on a separate document, adding details/ideas
then I'll loosely plan the fic. basically i just need to know my beginning and end. I'll fill in the middle later
let the idea sit on the back burner for a long time until im confident enough to write it
depending on the fic, I'll either plan it in detail (sewing sentiments) or wing it until i get a decent enough storyline going and then plan the rest later (perfectly platonic unless. i didn't actually have an ending planned until like a month ago)
then I'll write the first chapter. generally i tend to write my chapters in order, but not always. with sewing sentiments, i wrote them all in order. with ppu, i wrote extremely sporadically. i just wrote chapters without a number in mind and found spots to fit them in later. like the first chapter i wrote for the story was chapter TWENTY TWO lmfao
i used to just publish my fic chapters right when they were done without having a buffer, but now i let them sit for a while. i like to go back and edit them myself since i rarely use a beta. I'll usually reread a chapter and edit 2-3 times before it's ready. then, the day i decide to post, i give it one last reread to make sure it's okay 👍🏻
i dont really have much of a process when it comes to writing fic except for just throwing some ideas on a page and trying to include them. for ppu all i had to go off of was a document full of bullet points of ideas i wanted to incorporate. for most of my fics, i kind of just jot ideas down and find somewhere to put them. if it's a more serious scene/chapter/story, then I'll write out a really detailed plan of how i want things to go. it's like an extremely rough draft
for example here was my plan document for chapters 1-24 of ppu. IT'S REALLY NOT THAT DETAILED

thank you for the ask :>

here is some nightly ahb thoughts i've been having a lot recently:
the one thing that makes me sad about being so incredibly excited about ahb is that i will never get to share my theories with people who are still reading it for the first time. like when i read it i was 100% convinced that james was going to die (up until the chapter where the mcd actually happened) because there were So Many little comments that pointed to that. and then when the heist chapter happened i saw something about it before on tiktok and i was absolutely certain james would die that very chapter and i have never been more stressed reading anything in my life. like i sat an hour later still being anxious, it was intense. and i wish i could just tell people 'look at this!! look at this metaphor or this offhanded comment james made!! i bet he dies!!' without, in some way or another, spoilering them for what's to come. so i always wait until they're done with the fic and then tell them about it, but it does make me sad that i can't share my theories and have them build their own from that while they're still reading
anyway, sending you lots of love, i hope you have a nice [insert time of day that's applicable to you when you read this] <33
awwww i love this
this is actually one of my favorite things about reading wips and why i love it so much because if u get other friends to read them or find other fandom ppl who are reading the same wips you can all sit down and scream at each other about ur theories and things together !!! but this is so so sweet to know you were so into it!!! it makes me so happy to hear!!! also so many ppl thought someone was gonna die during the actual heist i was like "pls dont be disappointed y'all!! they all live to see another day!!" a fun little silly fact from me i don't think james will ever be killed tragically in my fics ever, because i simply cannot do it,,, i just can't kill him i love him too much so i make him suffer even more by forcing him to survive haha sending you all the love!! (also hope ur having a good day night!!! <333)

The finishing of this fanfic has left me with some pretty mixed emotions. On the one hand, I dont want it to end. It's such an incredible piece of work and even though I finally committed to reading it a few weeks ago, it already feels like such a significant part of my life. On the other hand, I'm a little glad that it's over. FAR from the sense it was bad (I'll steal your liver if thats how you interpret it) but moreso in the sense that it was like a good crying session. It's something that a lot of us (or I assume a lot of us) typically want to avoid even though we know its good for us, and satisfying after the fact. It's like catharsis in a way. Endings aren't always a great feeling in the moment, but it's something that we can look back on with a fondness.
I'm so glad I found this work. I'm being completely serious when I say that this fanfic, and the other content you make, has changed my life for the better. Its helped me reconnect with that love I have for creativity after nearly a decade of not making anything even though I wanted to. It's helped pulled me out of a few ruts of depression. It's helped me realize that I'm not actually emotionally stunted (per my own conclusions) and be more willing to cry instead of burying those feelings. In the past I would just, kill these kinda thoughts before they got far because of how much I wanted to avoid crying. Much less actually writing them down, or express them to someone else. But now, I've been crying the whole time I write this, and for the first time in, I think ever, I'm okay with that. I know we don't actually know each other, but you've genuinely helped me become a better person with the things you make. Thank you so much for everything you've done Sofie. hey look! I got your name right!
But enough about me. I feel like it's getting indulgent at this point. (I've gotten dehydrated with how much ive cried writing this and from what I can tell, you cry a lot more than I do. So go drink some water first, and then) I wanna hear your thoughts. What are your thoughts and feelings about your work being finished? Do you have plans to take a break from creative endevors for a while, or are you gonna keep going? Are you going to be expanding more on this and other au's, different fanworks or move into something completely your own? Whatever the case may be, I'm excited to see what more you are going to come up with!
From the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of everyone else, Thank you for everything.
It's so surreal to have posted that final chapter. I finished the first draft almost 100 days ago exactly, and I spent a number of days after completing it kind of adrift. I'd go to my computer every morning like I had during the month prior and sit down, ready to write, only to remember that I was actually supposed to be taking a break before I made the final edits.  It didn't click in my head that I had actually done it… until a couple weeks later when it hit me like a truck that I had an entire completed manuscript sitting in my Google Docs. I think I was making myself lunch at that moment, and I had to bolt to lie down on the floor and put my legs up against the wall because I was ready to pass out at the realization.
This feels pretty similar. For me, The Present is a Gift— the main fanfic, at least— was finished in mid-January. But the process of uploading it and agonizing over what people thought of every passing update wouldn't be formally done until about 3 months later. It still hasn't clicked in my head that I won't be posting a new update once Tuesday rolls around.
On the subject of taking a break— I've actually been taking a break, at least partway! I've barely written anything after I finished TPiaG's first draft, and I haven't drawn much “serious” art, for lack of a better word, since I started my blog. I've still been making things, yes, but scattered oneshots and sketchy pieces without solid lineart are not my typical fare. I'm usually a lot more “exact” with what I make— words fail me here— I hope I'm not being too vague! I might take a brief break as I finish up the winter semester, but that would be less a break from creating and more of an “OH MY WORD I NEED TO FOCUS ON NOTHING BUT PASSING THESE COURSES” kinda thing.
TPiaG (along with its derivative AUs) is still very much a living project to me— there's a lot more stories the characters have in them, even if I struggle to envision a full-on sequel. I'm absolutely going to answer the asks relating to it that I've received over the months along with any I continue to receive, and if I get any ideas for comics or oneshots here and there, I'll make them. As for what's officially next up on the Sincerely Sofie menu, I'm planning to make a visual novel that's a lot more meaty than the last one I made. I'm not sure if it will be original or based on TPiaG— but a visual novel is the medium I'm planning on!
I'm so overwhelmed by your kindness. I truly don't have any words. This project started off as something private to help distract me from a depressive episode and to process trauma, and it's become so much more. I'm so glad it was able to help you. Catharsis was the keyword for TPiaG— I wanted it to uproot difficult emotions and help people start to heal from them, but I never dreamed it would really help anyone but myself. So to hear it was able to provide you with that is unbelievably meaningful to me.
I gave myself the goal somewhat recently to let myself cry whenever the urge strikes me. I used to go months without crying, and whenever I did shed tears, it was alone in my room while muffling the few sounds I accidentally let slip. I'm a natural crybaby, but I had schooled myself into thinking for a number of reasons that it was bad to cry— that it was selfish, or attention-seeking, or weak— so I've been trying to reclaim my teary-eyed identity. It's been difficult, but it's so freeing to let myself feel things fully. All of this is to say: let the tears fall. I've helped more people by crying than my stoicism ever did.
Thanks again. I can't properly word my gratitude, but know that it's overwhelming :,>

Chapter 6
Branch is awoken by a sudden knocking at the entrance to his bunker. Groaning he checks the time "Who knocks on someone's door at 5am?!" He asks himself. He usually gets up at around dawn but he still would have enjoyed another hour of sleeping. He is also made aware by a very sharp and sudden pain in his fingertips....pawtips? Doesn't matter but it hurts. It's almost like a sharp stabbing pain.
"I think my claws are coming in" He says to himself. It makes sense given the pain around his fingertips. First his hands changed into paws and now his claws are coming in to accommodate his newly changed paws.
Getting up he puts on his robe and heads to the entrance "What?" He says with a yawn. Ti his surprise it's Poppy and..."Why do you have a suitcase?" He asks confused.
"Well since I'm gonna be transforming and I definitely don't want the other trolls to see me until I'm done I decided I'm gonna be staying with you until it's done!" She says clapping her hands together.
"Wait what-" "Don't worry it's only gonna be a few days I already told my dad and they think I'm going to hang out with Barb to deal with some queenly stuff. If anything goes wrong we will know. I mean it's not like we are actually leaving the village?" She says. Counting to 10 mentally in his head he allows her in. 'It's too early to deal with this' Branch thinks to himself.
"I'm gonna go get dressed there is some fruit on the table if your hungry" He says heading to his room. He has a feeling he is forgetting something important but nothing is coming to mind. As he is putting on his best it hits him and he bolts to his kitchen "SUGAR! POPPY WHATEVER YOU DO DONT-"
</bCrack/b>
</bCrunch/b>
"MMMMMMPPPPPHHHHH!" Poppy screams with her mouth closed in obvious pain. "Eat anything" Branch finishes too late. Poppy looks at him confused and a bit scared as her eyes water in both pain and confusion. "Its ok Poppy this happened to me too I will help you through it" He says gently wiping away her tears and she nods.
He goes over to get a few paper towels "Now I need you to spit into this" He says handing her the paper towels and she proceeds to spit out a piece of apple and four of her teeth. "Good good now you will just need to wash out your mouth for a few minutes and the bleeding will stop" He explains to her and she nods before heading over to the bathroom and washes out her mouth.
She didn't expect that to happen! She was just wanting some breakfast. She had gotten a apple and right at the moment she bit down she could hear and feel something wrong with her mouth as she could hear Branch yell at her to not do what she just did.
It hurt.....it hurt alot. It was like when she was loosing her baby teeth only this time it actually hurts! Heading to the bathroom she proceeds to wash out her mouth for a good 5 minutes before stopping when she stopped tasting blood. Scared she opens her mouth to see that 4 of her teeth were gone just like.....oh. "So that's what happened" She says to herself as she realizes what happened to Branch the day before yesterday. Now there is a throbbing pain where her teeth were before.
She heads back out to see Branch has washed off the blood from her now useless teeth. "Uhm I didn't know what you wanted me to do with them so I just washed them off" He says awkwardly. "Itsh fine" She says noticing her lisp. "We can shave them for later we can look back at them and remember thish whole thing" She says being her usual optimistic self to which Branch chuckles at.
"So uhm yeah sorry for not telling you that would happen I kinda frogot as I just woke up" He says emberassed for forgetting something so important. "Itsh fine Branch really. It wash probably going to happen shoon anywash" She lisps. The two make their way to the couch and try to relax after their already eventful morning and it wasn't even 6am yet.
"I actually thought your teeth jusht grew. I didn't think your teeth actually fell out!" Poppy laughs and Branch only chuckles a little at her thought process. "I wish it was that simple but it wasn't. You should have seen how horrified I was. I thought something bad was happening to me but then I remembered your dad saying how we had fangs and that's when it clicked for me" He explains.
"Shpeaking of transhformationshs whatshs transhforming today" She asks curious as she has been noticing that Branch has been wringing his hands alot for some reason. "My claws are growing in. It's not exactly pleasant. It honestly hurts not as bad as the fangs but it's up there" He says examining his paws. There is the beggining of a little slit at his fingertips to where the claws will grow out of. He just hopes they are retractable.
Poppy leans over to get a closer look not noticing how red Branch is getting from the close proximity. "Oh wow your handshs are now almosht completely pawshs! Sho adorable!" She coos as she messes with his paws again not noticing just how much redder he is becoming. While yes they are dating Branch is still getting used to physical touch for having little to no physical contact for 20 years.
"I can't wait to shee what mine will look like I bet they will be sho adorable!" She says excited. "Yeah can't wait to see them. You don't have to worry as it won't hurt a bit so it's sort of a break as it's only mildly uncomfortable. Well it was for me." He explains.
Poppy then proceeds to yawn "Let me guess you didn't sleep at all last night?" Branch asks knowing his girlfriend all to well. "Nope" Poppy says rubbing her eyes. "Was it becuase you were trying to think of a excuse to stay with me until this is over?" Branch asks with a smirk. "Yep" Poppy says tiredly resting her head on Branchs shoulder much to his surprise. "Well I'm going out to forage for some supplies if you want you can rest in my bed I won't mind" He suggests and she nods sleepily. Gently he picks her up and manages to carry her to his bed. It's a bit strange though usually he has a bit of trouble carrying her,not that she is fat or anything! But now he could do so with ease. Was his muscle strength increased as well with this transformation? Becuase if so that's another good thing to come out of this.
He quietly leaves his girlfriend to sleep in peace though how she is managing to sleep through the pain of her growing fangs is a mystery to him. Shrugging to himself and deciding to not ask questions he grabs his scavenging supplies and heads out as the sun is starting to rise over the horizon. He is actually a bit excited he is wanting to see what's different with his currently transforming body.
Not even 10 minutes into his cavanging he is hit with a few things. First is the overwhelming new sounds and smells. At first it was almost too much and he had to take a minute to gather himself before going back. He knew his hearing was enhanced but also his sense of smell? That's a new one on him. It's both a good thing and a bad thing. It's good as it allows him to locate food much easier than he could before just by smelling them. Bad news is he could smell things he really wishes he couldn't such as dead animals and bad smelling plants. He has to plug his nose when he gets near one.
Another new thing is the urge to run on all fours which is something he absolutely refuses to do. Well maybe not in front of other trolls. He decides to give it a try after giving it some thought. Making sure nobody was around he lowers himself onto all 4s and to his surprise it didn't feel as weird as he thought his pawpads feel ok against the ground like they were made for this purpose and well it was true they were probably made for this. The only thing wrong is his legs they didn't feel right whenever he tried to walk. Like something was missing he has no idea what though.
Deciding to hold off on further testing he decides to get back to scavenging albeit on 2 legs this time. He manages to grab alot more valuable and rare stuff this time around due to his new enhanced senses.
Around lunchtime though he notices something about his paws that very well make him have a near panic attack. His paws were turning gray. Not the gray of what he was like before but it's close. "No no no" he whispers in horror as he continues to stare. He has to control his breathing as he can't be having a panic attack in the middle of the forest. While this transformation has been less than pleasant that isn't enough to make him grey again!
He feels fine mentally and mostly physically the pain in his fingertips says otherwise. He then remembers that King peppy did say that their ancestors colors weren't as bright or saturated as they are today so this might also just be apart of the transformation. He will keep a very VERY close eye though. The grayness seems to only be around his paws up to his wrists and doesn't seem to go past that. Keeping a close eye on his paws he gets back to scavenging.
Though around to mid afternoon his fingertips begin to hurt more and more the stabbing feeling returning tenfold with a vengeance. Hissing through his fangs he decides to head back to his bunker having found enough for today. Thankfully the grayness didn't spread at all which eases his nerves a little.
When he enters his bunker again he doesn't see Poppy anywhere and his ears twitch as he listens for her and he can hear that she is still sleeping at the moment which is good she needs to get as much sleep as she can.
As he begins to put away his finds of today the stabbing pain escalates even more and he is unable to let put a yell of pain as he holds his paws.
Poppy awakes to the sound of Branch yelling in pain. Jumping out of his bed she races to where she hears it only to see Branch holding his paws in pain. She is about to go to him when she smells it.
Blood
Going over to him and looking at his paws she notices that there is blood coming from those slits that were there this morning. She then watches in horror as black claws violently come out of the slits and they were covered in blood. "Oh my gosh Branch!" She yells in shock as he looks at his new claws in horror. He doesn't seem to respond to her as she gently guides him to the bathroom to wash off the excess blood.
He doesn't seem to react much to the cold water that was being washed over his paws he just continues to stare at them. After everything has been washed and dried she decides to guide him to the couch and he still doesn't respond to her.
'They are long' that's the only thing that's currently going through his mind as he is looking at his claws. Currently twisting and turning his paws every which way. He honestly doesn't know what he was expecting he knew he was growing claws that much was obvious,he just wasn't expecting them to be this long. They were only a few centimeters long but still!
"Branch are you ok?" He finally realizes that Poppy has been trying to talk to him. 'I'm doing just great Poppy I just had claws rip come of my fingers very painfully might I ad so yes I'm just peachy!' He sarcastically yells mentally. "I'm ok now the pains gone so that's good. Also it seems your lisp is gone" He says noticing it as he can see her fangs are about the same length as his.
"Oh really? I didn't notice but that's not important right now. I mean are you really ok? " She says knowing how her bf likes to let people think he is ok as to not burden them with his pain and handle it by himself.
"I'm one hundred percent sure I swear" He days putting up his paws. He goes back to looking at them, the claws are still out but right now it's like when he is flexing his fingers,so he tries to relax them and the claws retract into his paws and he sighs in relief in that they are retractable. This significantly decreases the chance of him accidentally scratching someone on accident.
"Well that's good I was really worried when I heard you yell" She says looking at him. He isn't the one to yell usually not in pain only when it really hurts is when he yells. "You can always come to me when you are in pain Branch I will help you out" Poppy says smiling at him.
"I know that it's just you were asleep when I got back and I know you needed your rest, and it only got that bad not long after I returned" Branch explains to her to which she just shakes her head. "Branch it doesn't matter if I'm asleep I want you to come tell me so I can help you. You shouldn't be alone for the amount of pain your going through right now" She says putting a hand on his shoulder. "I'm going to be going through this exact pain myself soon remember?" She explains to him and he already knew that. He isn't looking forward to it.
He absolutely can't stand seeing his girlfriend in pain and would try his best to lessen it or prevent it all together if he could but alas for this scenario he cant. The least he could do is be there for her. "Yeah I know and I promise I will be there for you when it gets bad just come get me and I will be there asap it doesn't matter what I'm doing I want you to tell me" He tells her because she also has a habit of not telling others when she is in pain and she just nods.
The two trolls decide to just sit with eachother in silence for a few minutes before the sound of their stomachs growling alert them that once again they haven't eaten at all today. All Branch had was a berry or 2 while out scavenging while Poppy was asleep.
"How about I make us some soup it will be easy on those growing fangs of yours" He says and Poppy nods with a smile. He heads to the kitchen and begins to get cooking while Poppy heads back to the bathroom to look in the mirror curious about her new fangs.
She opens her mouth and "Oh wow those are some sharp looking fangs that's for sure" She says surprised. It's one thing to see someone with them its a whole other thing to actually feel them in your mouth. To actually be able to feel them with your tounge and all that. They even peak out of her mouth with her overbite, which in her opinion makes her look absolutely adorable.
Tumblr media
(What her fangs look like with her overbite)
She also uses this opportunity to look at her new grown fur. The fur around her neck is considerably longer than anywhere else it was almost like a little scarf. Just like with branch there tufts of fluff around her elbows wrists ankles and knees. Though there are also long tufts around her upper arms near her neck. Feeling the fur it was so soft! It was holding a fuzzy blanket!
She is in there for a while just looking at herself making all kinds of faces in the mirror with her new fangs and messing around with her longer fur when Branch calls for dinner and her ears twitch at his voice. "Huh that's new they usually don't do that" She says a bit surpirsed. While troll ears can move they usually only react with extreme emotion or when a troll willingly moves them. They usually don't move on their own or react like this though she has noticed that Branchs ears have been doing this ever since his transformation started.
She makes her way back to the kitchen and Branch hands her a bowl of hot soup with veggies and it smells absolutely delightful though she knows Branch is a good cook. Even if she wonders how he thinks his Grandma's fluffleberrycake is good she isn't going to ask as everyone has different tastes.
The two eat their soup in relative silence and its very delicious she needs to ask Branch for the recipe later it's easy on her still growing fangs but they are close to being done as the pain is lessening by the hour. She eats 2 helpings before feeling full while Branch actually had 3 seeing as he missed breakfast and lunch. They actually managed to empty the whole pot much to their surprise.
"Wow we must have sure been hungry" Branch says a bit surprised at seeing the empty pot. "Well we both missed breakfast and lunch so this is the only thing we ate today. And don't try to deny it Branch I know you too well." She says bopping him on the nose causing him to blush. He doesn't say anything as to not give her the satisfaction even if she was right.
The two begin to change into their pajamas when a thought hits Branch. "Uhm by the way Poppy where are you going to sleep?" Branch asks his girfriend. "Oh I'm sleeping in your room. I brought my sleeping bag so don't worry" She cheerfully says not noticing Branch now resembles a tomato with how red he is.
This is actually the first time Poppy has ever slept over let alone sleep in his room! 'Ok Branch don't freak out its not like we are going to do anything' "Just curious why my room specifically?" He asks. "Oh well its just so in case something happens to one of us during the transformation and need help in caseit gets super painful" She explains as she rolls out her sleeping bag.
Yeah that makes sense to Branch. Yep totally makes sense. They both go to brush their teeth before bed and both lay down in their respective places. Poppy who is on the near the end of his bed yawns "Goodnight Branch see you in the morning" She yawns before turning over and within a few minutes he hears the familiar sound of her soft breathing.
It takes him maybe a good half hour before he can sleep knowing that Poppy is in the same room as him. He wonders what new thing is going to transform and if it's going to hurt as much as his claws.

chapter 5, page 60
first - previous - next
[image description: an sac webcomic page. the shelf crashes onto schmidt, pinning them. her mask is now fully formed, aside from the growing horns, showing the eye holes surrounded by branching tendrils that match the ones on her shoulder and hands. markings that are easier to view in the close up of her, glaring directly at the viewer, the highlights in her eyes now more like her tendril shapes rather than the wiggly lines they were before. with one hand on the counter, lewis quickly vaults over the shelf and person trapped under it, all that is seen of them is the sparking hand reaching up at him. jade worriedly grimaces downwards at schmidt, one hand on the doorframe she's facing, the one they just tried a few pages ago. end id]
so i didnt finish this page due to stomach pain on monday so it wasnt done tuesday, so i thought, okay, well, lets get it finished on wednesday after i take my bro out for a birthday movie.
and then i got back, took a 20 minute nap so id have a little energy to draw comics! and then i woke up 5-6 hours later, at 3am. 3 alarms slept through (despite being a light sleeper) and lights still on. the 5 hours sleep each day took its toll i suppose, so i went back to sleep, so heres the comic today!!!
speaking of waits for comics! its time for the annual fucking off period! also known as "taking a break" like i do in december, buts lets be honest, i will not be taking a break. like always i will just be working on other things because i cant just not draw for too long.
hopefully this means i will be working on a buffer, finally. i will for sure be working on making chapter 1 book ready! if im very lucky i will get that sorted and ready before next febuary (got a couple large cons there) but thats a very generous estimate and assuming self funded and not kickstarter, but i can do that with some savings if i only get a small amount of books because chapter 1 isnt long. wish me luck.
so yes, this is the last update until january unless i end up making a holiday drawing who knows.
until then, im also going to try and upload more art to my art blogs (@galaxia-art on tumblr and galaxiaprince on instagram) and speaking of socials, shameless self promotion for my etsy because if youre looking to buy something from outside the uk then the last days for doing that and getting it before christmas is the 4th-7th december (depending on country) (or the 18th if you're in the uk). if you dont care when it arrives then all's good whenever!
anyway, thank you all so much for reading my comic, and i hope you all have a great rest of the year!

what a day to wake up only to be fed greedily by mother pookie🩷🩷🩷
me, the whole chapter be like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cunthage >>> Delusional at its finest
The way my jaw DROP and starts wheezing uncontrollably when Bucky moans Pocket name. MAN, if it happens to me, I would he so fucking embarrassed to the point i might actually kill myself. Imagine getting railed so hard to starts but he’s fantasising someone else?? Jeremiah is so so so so so fucking DUMBBBBBB!!! Her obsession and delusion level is above and beyond.
I can’t wait for Bucky to kick her ass so hard it broke and explode. One thing though, I have a feeling Pocket might have a near death situation. (I MEAN LOOK AT HER CONDITION NOW? STAY STRONG POCKET! UR STOOPID BUCKAROO WILL SAVE U) — which is why Bucky would beg on his knees later on. ‘Pocket please, don’t leave me, I love you. Dont do this to me, baby’
EXCITING!!!!
Looking back to Jeremiah and Bucky conversation, i feel like Pocket and Bucky do need a better communication. More reassurance, sharing and self growth, etc. Both of them are similar yet so different. Both are broken people. They need to heal each other and I can’t wait so see it.
Anyways, as usual, i love u pookie🩷🩷🩷 i cant wait for the eight eleventh smut oneshots😂 i need more pocket and bucky scene!! i couldn’t get enough of them. they r my heartue😫🤍 i hope u feel better!! its absolutely fucking scorching hot here, i don’t know about yours but drink a lot of water!!! get a lot of rest!! sleep more!!!
out of topic, im replaying resident evil 8 now, lady dimitrescu is hot. rip my sleeping schedule.

Hi, Pookie!
If Delulu was a country, Jade would be their Queen.
Tumblr media
Like, it doesn't even register to her that Bucky's saying Pocket's name, and he's not trying to hide it. She's just so overjoyed at getting what she finally wanted, what she thinks she deserves, that basically a bomb could have gone off next door and she wouldn't have paid it any attention, because it didn't fit into her narrative.
Pocket's definitely taken some heavy hits and has got some internal injuries going on. Can't say what will happen to her, though-- you'll have to wait until today's chapter to find out! It's the last chapter of action, if you will, before the come-down and the epilogue. So crazy! We're almost done!
