Got my first shrimp goby pair last week and this is my impression of them so far.

#Art #Fish #Fishblr #Fish art #My art #The fish is fine btw just a coward #Though I do think he might have gotten a small concussion from his two escape attempts #Jumped out of the tank literally at one in the morning and then an hour later at two in the morning it was a miracle I was awake during this #I have since covered the food holes in the lid with heavy objects #It gave me a heart attack on day two cuz I thought it was dead #I even poked it with a stick and it didn’t react at all #Luckily I left it in there and it was up and going about six hours later and has since been behaving normally #It is eating tho which is a good sign #Tested my paremetres and there’s nothing wrong with the water so ╮(╯_╰)╭#Shrimp is delightful to watch #She explores the tank a lot and is super cute #Idk what the sex of the fish is but I’m pretty confident that the shrimp is a girl #Has snapped once and I was unprepared for how loud they actually are in person #The fish cuddles the shrimp with its tail and they’re super cute #They gave me a stress for a few days but everything’s stable now so #10/10 aquarium pets #Aquarium stuff

start of a sapphic YA duology set in 1920s Harlem, in a world where reapers (vampires) are the result of horrific human experimentation

follows a reluctant heir to a powerful reaper-hunting family, who has just returned from paris

and her childhood best friend who she hasn’t seen since she was turned and almost killed her five years ago

in the wake of a string of murders, they’re forced to work together to find out how they’re linked, and investigate rumours of a cure

#this ravenous fate #aroaessidhe 2024 reads #sapphic books #I thought this was pretty decent! I thought the concept of the origin of vampires and how it discussed Black oppression and #treatment of vampires; and discussions of class privilege etc was interesting.#The main characters and their dynamic was great! I liked the friendships (though they fell off a bit…) and some of the family dynamics too.#I found the plot and pacing a bit all over the place though.#And I’m not sure how much is the writing and how much is the narration but I didn’t LOVE the writing.#The narrator doesn’t pause between POV switches which made it hard to keep track of sometimes.#I found a lot of the adults (/antagonists) a bit too cartoonishly evil? Though that might also be due to the narration -#eg after a whole scene of her dad yelling at her his voice is described as ‘steady & calm’ & I was like oh…..so not at all how that was act #It might have come across a bit more subtle and nuanced without such dramatic acting.#some of the lore was a little silly (like they age til they’re 25 then stop aging….ok sure)#but also sometimes with vampires the point is to lean into those aspects haha!#it reminds me of these violent delights - like obviously the enemy exes solving a supernatual murder in 1920s -#but also writing wise (both good and bad)#I think if you just want a good YA urban fantasy enemies to lovers with Black lesbians? if you wanted first kill to be a bit better?#then yeah check it out!

The obnoxious thing is that because Star Wars has a very open canon, because there are undisclosed animated projects probably in works and will probably be more in the future, and because things can be picked up at any time there are ways to salvage that finale and pay things off that are very satisfying and very Star Wars, so I’m sitting here like…pspspspspsps Lucasfilm…you can still save this….

#the bad batch #CX-2 and the pod that kept turning him into this #had to ‘die’#so Tech could start putting himself back together and live again #is VERY Star Wars #very ‘from a certain point of view’#and very ‘Vader betrayed and murdered your father’#and honestly if they turn things around and pull something like that off #I will be delighted and FURIOUS at the same time #I’d love it but also OH MY GOD #do I trust the creative team right now?#of course not #I just think they’re better at their jobs than this #anyway ignore me #I’m in this weird place of being deeply hurt and disappointed but also having hope

I love Germany. My boss fixed me this lethal but beautiful cocktail called a Hugo and we both got drunk together. I don’t think I said anything incriminating or embarrassing . Except for when I privately told a female coworker later that it’s the first day of my period so my plans when I get home are to put my feet up.
