the problem with adaptations is that
there's always gonna be some sort of limitations that the creators have to take into account when telling the story in a different form of media
so most of the time, some of elements that makes the original so impactful kinda... lost in translation, to say the least

The Origins of Anya's Name
*Spoilers for Mission 11*
Thanks to the CDA discord for inspiring me to write this.
As someone who shares a name with our beloved main character, I am just now realising that I have taken for granted how 'Anya' goes through several different spelling presentations in the manga. Blame the people in my life who constantly mispell it, which has densitised me to all the versions.😂
So, I know none of you asked for this little etymology lesson, but here you go anyway 🥰
Tumblr media
P1: Anya
'Anya' is the Anglicisation of both 'Anja' and 'Ania'. (It is, in my biased opinion, the best version.)
P2: Anja
Anya with a 'j' (still pronounced as a 'y') originates from Germany. On reflection, it's interesting that although SxF is set in a German-adjacent country, we never see this version.
P3: Ania
In the early chapters, many of you noticed that Anya's name was spelled "Ania" on the front of her door. This is actually not a spelling mistake, because "Ania" originates from Eastern Europe (e.g. Poland or Russia, but I lean towards Polish explanations because that is my ancestry).
The interesting thing about this version is that "Ania" is actually the diminutive of "Anna". Eastern European names tend to have a 'formal' version (the name on legal documents), and the 'diminutive' version, which is essentially a nickname that close friends or family would use.
In Polish, other examples of diminutives would be:
'Olka' for 'Aleksandra' (sound familiar?)
'Basia' for 'Barbara'
'Kasia' for 'Katarzyna'
'Joasia' for 'Joanna' (sometimes people will also use 'Asia' - pronounced 'Asha') - As a side note, this sounds a bit familiar to the previous incarnation of Anya's design, which I believe was 'Ashe'. Perhaps Endo just really like diminutives. Perhaps it's a coincidence.
I also think it's interesting that Yor carved this version first. I'm wondering if it relates somehow to Yor's background, for example if her hometown was bordering an Eastern European country, or if she knows anyone with this background.
Tumblr media
If I were use the information from Mission 11 to create a hypothesis, it would be that Anya (the character) likely originates from a Polish/Russian/Eastern European country in the SxF world. I think because Endo has used diminutives for other characters (e.g. Olka), a country like this likely exists in this world.
(I've actually HC'd this for a long time, I've just never had a chance to bring it up...)
Secondly, because the name 'Ania' is also used by friends and family, it is also possible that Anya doesn't know that her formal/legal name might actually be Anna. I would like to believe that in Anya's pre-lab life, she learned that her name is 'Anya' because the name was spoken by someone who loved her.
I'm not sure why the scientists at the lab called her 'Anya' instead of her lab number: perhaps the lab is not located in her home country, and therefore the scientists wouldn't know that the actual origin is 'Anna'. Or maybe they use her diminutive because it is a manipulative tactic to get her to comply with their demands (by appearing more 'friendly'). Who knows.
This could potentially make the reveal of her past that much more heartbreaking, as we don't know yet how she ended up in the lab.
Finally:
I've seen so many more hypotheses and theories from this chapter, so feel free to add them on! Thank you for reading and letting me share my piece.

Hello Yuurei! Hope you having a good day/night!
Is there any canon indication that Lucius is Treins familiar?
If there is, then can a dog be considered a familiar? I am confused about the animal/pet/familiar/dire beast thing in twisted.
Like, are the bats of Lilia canonically his familiars? I believe you posted that no, it wasn’t. Or it was someone else that records Twst info, I don’t remember the name tho, srry.
Where is the line between Familiar and Pet? Is it because the animal has a certain level of magic or sentience?
Because. Crows as familiars? Makes sense, they are naturally very smart and are scary in their own right. Cats? Yeah makes sense, they are natures human manipulator with their cuteness.
I am willing to bet jumping spiders can be familiars, for their size, they are pretty darn smart. And are just the Cutest!!! Jamil would be terrified if Yuu actually was a beast tamer with many familiars and send spiders to haunt him.
If you are able to respond, thank you very much. If not, it’s okay, I really don’t want to put more questions about info you so carefully craft and analyze.
Because god damn, you make GODS work along side many other blogs to translate and give your own analysis of characters that I just. (⊙_⊙)(°ロ°) ! Cant express with words.
Hello hello!! Thank you so much for this question! You are very much too kind m(_ _)m And I love your amazing ideas!
We do have canonical confirmation that Lucius is Trein's familiar!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Dog familiars might not be mentioned in the game? But they were mentioned by Yana! In a tweet from earlier this year she said,
"In the early stages of (Kalim's) character design he had a small monkey for a familiar. Other students had their own direbeasts or familiars as well, including owls, penguins, puppies, etc."
Tumblr media
And the lines between pets / familiars / direbeasts are a very interesting point!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Trein himself says that Lucius is his familiar, when Rook asks if Lucius is Trein's pet Trein says yes, and then calls himself Lucius' owner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whereas Trein seems devoted to Lucius, Lucius has been bought off at least once, intentionally hiding from Trein in a scheme with Ruggie and getting paid in tuna for his cooperation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Crowley calls Grim a familiar Grim insists he would never serve a human, so it seems the Twst interpretation of a familiar involves a degree of servitude? Perhaps Lucius participating in Animal Linguistics classes for Trein is a part of their familiar/owner arrangement? (not confirmed in game)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Riddle never directly calls Grim a familiar he does say that, without his magic, he is "naught but a pet cat" (Grim denies being anyone's pet anything).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What direbeasts are seems equally vague in the game, and most of what we know possibly comes from Idia in Book 6.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He explains that Grim is a direbeast with high blot density that has been magically fused with "some kind of animal." (In a separate scene he explains that he has heard of "ultra rare cases where (phantoms) manage to blend in with direbeasts," which seems like it may be leading to something? But maybe not!)
Overall the pet/familiar/direbeast borders seem a little blurry, and Grim has been labeled as all three at different times by different people. And that's not all!
Tumblr media
Grim is also referred to as a monster as early as the Prologue, with the characters using the English word "monster" (as can be heard in the audio), which might be connecting back to a theory related to Ortho.
Tumblr media
And in Book 6 Crowley, audibly, calls Grim a monster, but the word "direbeast" has been included as a hidden meaning. So is the game using the words "monster" and "direbeast" interchangeably? Or is this meant to be a reference to how we don't really know what Grim is yet? Or does Crowley actually know he is a direbeast, but is still calling him a monster?
Tumblr media
And another interesting point arose in the official English-language translation of the Heartlabyul manga: Grim originally calls himself "a man who will become a great mage" (in both the manga and the game), but I don't think the kanji used (男) is meant to be confirming that Grim considers himself human. The English language is more limited (man = humankind or male human), which is probably why the EN server had Grim call himself a "spellcaster," instead.
But the manga is being localized by a different company (VIZ Media) and they wrote this line as, "I am a monster who will become a great mage," in what might be the only instance of Grim choosing a label for himself (but I still need to check the rest of his in-game dialogue to be absolutely sure).
3. The "bats = Lilia's familiars" theory was not me! :> This is my first time hearing it, and while it seems entirely possible, I have not come across anything in the game to confirm or deny it yet!
Tumblr media
While Lilia's bat motifs seem to have been largely inspired by a bat-based goon of Malficent's from the animated Sleeping Beauty movie, I occasionally see conversations about why, out of all the motifs available for Yana to choose from, did she go with that one in particular?
The best explanation I have found (and this is unofficial), was: it might be a pun. In Japanese, the word for bat (コウモリ) is pronounced very similarly to 子守, which is close in meaning to "babysitting."
(Yana is a very big fan of puns and wordplay and it comes up a lot in her work, i.e., the Broom/Bloom Birthday series).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. You might be right that the difference between the three has something to do with sentience and magical ability! Idia comments on both after declaring that Grim is a direbeast, but if "pets" are at the lower end of the "sentient/magical" scale, for example, I am not sure how they differentiate between direbeasts and familiars in the Twst universe. Those who are willing to enter into servitude vs. those who are not? (This is purely conjecture)
5. I love your idea about jumping spiders! Spiders seem largely absent from the game, but they also do not really come up in too many Disney movies (I think?), so that might be why!
Thank you again for this question! I apologize for only offering more questions in response--this is all so interesting to think about!

how you feel about your current WIP
Which one, hahahahaaa...
Thanks for asking, it's always good to do a WIP audit. Let's do it as a numbered list. Only going for the multi-chapter stories here. I also have a lot of oneshots in varying states of completion.
Non Warhammer 40k stories are under the Read More.
Carrion's Heir - Technically not a WIP, but not fully uploaded yet. It would have been a better story if I hadn't had to follow a set of prompts, but that was how the challenge I wrote it for worked. Still, I love the main character and his story arc. May come back to it in the future.
Of Steel and Flesh - Started off as a quick series of campaign-inspired drabbles, but became its own thing. I kind of love it and kind of hate it sometimes. Maybe I should have just left it as a bunch of tiny vignettes. I am committed to finishing it, though. Again, I care a lot about the main characters, and I REALLY like the Dark Mechanicum sect in it.
Even in Death - MY BELOVED. MY DARLING. MY SWEET, SELF-INDULGENT DREADNOUGHT-BASED BABY. Putting this one off to finish other projects hurts so bad. I want to write the rest of this ASAP.
[Unnamed Techmarine Story] - This is about my character Bai'keti's 30 years on Mars. It's less about his training and more about what being so far from his brothers and culture is like, the difficulty of adopting a new culture, and his intense friendship with another techmarine in training from the Dragonspears chapter. I'll probably never upload this one because I'm not too familiar with what Mars in 40k is like beyond "Admech and the Void Dragon live here." Plus, it's based on my own time as an International student at a particularly weird British University. It makes me feel nostalgic for the rare good times, and also SO freaking glad I survived my time and am not there any more. Hated my Uni so much. This WIP is also on the back burner at like 12k words, will probably pick it back up in the autumn.
[Unnamed Salamander Story] - The story of Val'ten's first year in the Salamanders' 6th company. Includes a romance between him and his brander priest, but it's mostly about various missions and adventures, how he settles to life as a Salamander brother, and his attempt to grow a little garden in his downtime. This one is my most long-term wh40k project since I came up with Val'ten in 2017 for a completely different (and much worse) fic. His story has been stuck at around 60k words for months because it's on the back burner while I finish other things, but this is the story I think about in the shower, when I'm waiting in a queue, when I'm on the train. It's so important to me.
Other fandoms and Original Work
The Name Within - A leftover from my Kingdom Hearts Days. It's about Isa straightening out his head after everything that happened in KH3, and coming to terms with perhaps never functioning like a normal human after experiencing literal dehumanization at a pivotal age. I've linked it because it's on Ao3, but I wouldn't bother checking it out, it's probably not worth reading unless you really like this one particular dude. It's been missing around two paragraphs to finish for years. I should just bash those out and finish it, but it's hard to find the keen for it now.
Big Name on Campus/The Dream He Was Given - Temporary names for two fanfics based on a very old Sci-Fi manga. One is a weird fix-it-fic, the other is based on the University career of my favourite character, the chronically ill director of a medical center. I know, another university story, but I swear this one's not primarily based on my experience; rather, on watching my parents' students over the years. Decent chance I will never finish these two, there's no English-speaking audience for this comic so they're only for me. I love BNOC, though. The other, I could take or leave.
Twisted Links - Original story. After a series of international incidents and corporate takeovers, HR Agent Marley from the Pan-Martian Corporation ends up as temporary site director for a radio telescope in the Caribbean with secret instructions to ensure the Corp's permanent control of the site. Unbeknownst to Marley, local engineer and anti-colonialism activist Victor is struggling to hide a rogue Pan-Martian AI which caused a major international incident several decades before. Will Victor be able to keep the AI secret, or will Marley find out that there's a second being living inside Victor's head? Whose vision for the future of the telescope will become reality, or will the whole place shut down? The first 20k words of this story secured me a first-class Master's degree, but just as I was gearing up to write the rest, the catastrophic demise of the telescope where I grew up happened. I miss this story and want to go back to it but... Trauma...

Would it be ok to start my path to the trigun hell hole with trigun stampede? I just KNOW that this show would consume and hurt me in many ways so any advice would help. Thank you.
👀👀!! Oh yes, absolutely you can - because for many newcomers who never got the chance 20+ yrs ago, Stampede was their first introduction to the series! So you wouldn't be alone there. :3 (I grew up with the 98 anime however, so that one was my first.) Stampede's also likely the shortest time-investment too, at a speedier 12eps for the current season vs the 98 anime's longer 26eps. So you're very welcome to try that when braving your first Trigun plunge~
Just note that every iteration available (old anime, new anime, manga) is different, with regards to their own plotlines and modified characterizations, so you'll gain something new out of all of them on each watch or (re)read.
For example, Stampede draws its lore/inspiration from the completed Trimax manga (but does not follow the exact same plotline; Stampede is its own separate retelling, not a 1:1 adaptation), which was not possible when the 98 anime was made, as the manga had not been completed yet. So the 98 anime adapts the first few manga vols (along with inserting many fun/silly slower character building eps, before switching to darker/heavier content in the later half) and has its own unique anime-original lore & ending (kinda like how the first fma did it), but the themes it presents are still quite solid and universal, so it's very worth a watch too! Even though yes, some parts are noticeably dated with 90s tropes (which you can 100% safely ignore, as both Stampede & Trimax Vash are not like that), just so you're aware.
I recommend at least watching the 98 anime before tackling the harder manga though, as the manga greatly expands into territory the 98 anime could never do or show at the time, so if you go say, from the manga to 98 in reverse order, there's a chance you may not enjoy the older anime as much? (Your mileage may vary.) In my experience, I went 98 -> Trimax manga -> Stampede (basically in release order), and since Stampede is very much a love letter + passion project for both new/older fans alike to enjoy, it's full of references to spot if you're already familiar with the series. I had lots of fun catching those (ep12 alone is like AAAA!!! *____* with so many Trimax elements thrown in) So you can start with it AND rewatch Stampede a 2nd time after completing the manga too, to get the most out of it! :D (Plus, the Stampede story isn't even over yet; it was more like a deliberately planned prelude, with plenty more endgame Trimax material to possibly explore in future seasons. You'll see when you get there~)
As for the manga, it begins with 2 volumes titled Trigun, before switching genres/publications to a darker/heavier seinen retitled Trigun Maximum (abbreviated as Trimax), which continues the same story right where the other vols left off, and for many fans, is considered to be the definitive Trigun ~experience~ (that'll change your life~)
It can be a difficult read, with regards to the serious subject matter presented and even for comprehending the vaguer 'up to reader interpretation' scenes (bc you can't speed-read this; there are times you may have to pace yourself with breaks to process if needed, and bc the expressive artwork itself does much of the talking through strong vibes and impression, which requires your full attention to grasp what's happening.) And since Nightow, the author, rarely draws speech bubbles with directional tails to indicate who's talking - cues which instead are understood thru context and the characters' unique accents/speech patterns, which while obvious in Japanese, is a much harder challenge when translated into english. So if you ever feel lost/confused by what's happening with the need for clarification, there's many bookclub fans here, including the main fan translator, who'll gladly help you out!
Be prepared for much mental trauma, emotional damage, character death(s), morality/reality checks and pain and suffering abound....but it's done in a very cathartic, soulful, healing way...where you suffer and heal in the same boat along with Vash instead of leaving you permanently hurt, it may leave you coming out of it feeling quite changed and enlightened refreshed and comforted by its messages instead. :')) (I've seen plenty who consider it their comfort manga bc of this, as well.) The enduring good faith Vash has in humanity, pursuing kindness as a choice for a better future (where things are not doomed when there's always a second chance to continue), and the ability to survive and recover from almost impossible, terribly hopeless (to downright suicidal) odds are what resonate strongly with me. :'3 Again, it's an ~experience~ you just have to feel to decide for yourself how it impacts you. But for some extra reassurance, the ending is not a tragic one, but something more bittersweet leaving off on a positive note, which is most importantly, hopeful. I hope you enjoy it!
And just fyi, after personally reading and comparing both the official Darkhorse and the Overhaul fan translations, I highly recommend the Overhaul manga over the official one for a much better time (since the official tl unfortunately has many mistakes, missed line callbacks, and misplaced speech bubbles, etc leading to more confusion, so yeah!) You can find the nicely accessible Overhaul manga translation (plus it seems there's plans for an improved ver2.0 fan translation in the works), along with their online reader too, right over here~

Managed to find time to watch episode 3 of Trigun Stampede tonight and MMMM. MAN. Was not expecting them to go that hard that fast with the plot.
(long spoiler-specific thoughts for Episode 3 under the cut for those who haven’t seen it yet. Very rambly, I’m just writing out my thoughts after finishing the episode.)
So, not only introducing some members of the Gung-Ho Guns (well, down one now, thanks Knives), but also introducing Knives and how dangerous he is three episodes in?? The original manga and the 90s anime did NOT need to go that hard, but the modern one decided it did.
Not only have we established that Vash brings chaos and disaster wherever he goes as he tries to keep everyone alive, but we’ve also established the theme of the show. Whose side are you really on, Vash?
I mean, they asked that question of him three times in this episode alone, and at least once in episode 2.
This is a question Vash was asked in the manga, but maybe not in this specific wording. He can’t keep doing what he’s been doing.
Vash wants everyone to be alive and get along, right? “Peace and love” is still present in his bones, even if he hasn’t said that theme aloud yet. However, that means he bounces between helping outlaws as much as he helps the innocent townsfolk who are just trying to live their lives and not get killed by the gunmen who want to take their Plant and get rich off it.
Vash would probably say he’s on the side of humanity in his current fight against Knives, but we can see that Knives is working with humans here, EG Miner and the “doctor” with the giant mecha and the strange, somewhat familiar looking child with him. (I have to wonder if that one’s a puppet for the puppet master, or if the kid’s another Independent Plant, but I’m not seeing any of the circuitry-lines on the kid that Knives and Vash have on them, so I’m not sure. (EDIT: Just found out the kid’s actually supposed to be the Crimson Nail, which really threw me off. Now I’m wondering what else is going on with her.))
But the Gung-ho Guns have sided themselves with Knives for their own reasons, and I would not be surprised if the “doctor” is aware that Knives is planning on killing him when his part of Knives’ plan is complete. I wouldn’t put it past the crazy Independent. They have chosen their fate.
Vash drifts from town to town, rootless and side-less, playing with the line in the sand like it’s a jump rope. Knives wants him on his side, and is more than happy to prove his strength over Vash’s in order to get him to give up, break, and join his big brother on Knives’ side of his self-proclaimed war of extermination.
Vash has yet to truly plant (ha) himself on humanity’s side. He’s lonely, keeps himself distant...the man needs to create bonds and plant himself somewhere, especially despite Knives’ actions. Knives is working with humans to reach his goal for Plants, and is using humans as tools in order to achieve that. If he causes trouble for Vash in order to prove that humans can’t be trusted, that they’re parasites, then all the better.
Vash...Vash is alone. He doesn’t want to use anyone, and as a result, he’s probably pushed plenty of people away from him.
This show is going to pit him against problem after problem after problem, and with Meryl, Roberto, and (probably as of next episode) Nicholas D. Wolfwood at his side, he’s going to find himself with people who don’t want to leave him, who won’t let the typhoon of the plot push them away, and he’s going to have to come to terms with what Knives wants, and what he wants.
Vash will pick a side. He has to.
But then the question becomes...how many people are going to drop right in front of him before he breaks and decides?
As for Knives himself -- man. He looms over the manga and both anime, for different reasons.
In the manga and the 90s anime, he loomed because he was an unknown force. Because he was what kept Legato in check, and let him have free rein to torture Vash as he pleased. And then, in the manga, he loomed because we knew what his plan was, he was constantly on the horizon in that ark, calling his sisters to him, and it was only a matter of time before things came to a head against his brother.
Now?
Now Knives looms because we have seen him. We know what he’s capable of. He defends himself with his own plant powers and laughs in the face of Vash, who shoots at him with human made weapons and shoots at him wildly. Vash, who has pinpoint accuracy and good eyes, can’t land a hit on his brother because he’s terrified of Knives.
And he’s terrified of who he is, too.
My dad made a comment on it when I said that Vash has access to power the same way Knives does, but he hasn’t “unlocked his gate,” as Knives put it.
Dad: “Maybe he’s afraid of it.”
This is another part of what keeps Vash drifting in the winds. He’s refusing to acknowledge who he himself is. He’s still that scared little kid, scared of his brother, wanting to be human, more than willing to reject his past. He’s trying to cut himself away from his roots just as much as he’s trying to cut himself off emotionally from everyone around him, to keep himself distant but physically present.
Just as he has to pick a side -- against Knives and all he stands for -- Vash is going to have to pick a side with himself. And when he’s broken down and pulls himself back together...if he wants to keep himself and every human alive, he’s going to have to come to terms with who he is, just as much as which side he is on.
Otherwise, Knives will win long before this series started.

She’s so Cheeky for a Commoner Volume 2 Thoughts
I’m back, and incidentally, I’m still be doing I’m in Love with the Villainess content. For clarification, She’s so Cheeky for a Commoner is a spin-off series that follows Claire’s point of view of the many events early in the series. However, it is not a complete retelling of the series, it only retells certain key moments, while sprinkling in entirely new scenes, new characters and story arcs, as well as occasionally giving the perspectives of different characters. It does not serve as a substitute for the original light novels, and you should still read those first if you don’t want to be spoiled.
Anyway, this particular book only covers Chapters 4 through 6 from the original series, with Chapters 7 and 8 presumably being covered in Volume 3. Spoilers below.
Tumblr media
Starting off, we have the Scales of Love arc. My first point of interest was how much more conscious Claire was of Rae’s change of behaviour, and yet so oblivious to the cause.
The first big change is the conversation with Loretta and Pepi about their doubts and suspicions about Manaria. To be fair, those two didn’t become actual characters until the manga fleshed them out. Interestingly, they actually asked Rae for her opinion and took her observation into careful consideration. Turns out, Loretta also had another more personal reason why she was weary of Manaria.
Follow that up with Rae nearly dying in Claire’s arms and her going off at her precious Manaria for it. She seemed harsher here than in the anime.
It makes sense that after the “breakup” the first person to truly get a chance to console Claire without any ulterior motive would be Catherine. They are roommates after all. Also, we finally get to see what Catherine looks like. She’s so adorably and sweet, it’s all the more unacceptable that the rest of her family (who will likely be the death of her) are all complete scumbags and criminals. So Catherine manages to convince Claire to patch things up with Rae, unfortunately, while this conversation was happening, Manaria was escalating things yet again.
Personally, I think the anime did the confession best. Actually, my last post was a reblog of that scene.
Okay, so Claire is being congratulated and teased by Misha, the Princes and the minions. First interesting thing, we’re establishing the Rod is already into Rae and intends to pursue her but is letting Claire have her turn, I guess. Second interesting thing, everyone assuming it is a given that Rod will snatch Rae from Claire. To be fair, it is assumed at this point that Rod will be King, and none of them could imagine that Rae has such a fundamentally different view on marriage than the rest of them.
So now we enter that very weird stage in Rae and Claire’s relationship. They’ve finally acknowledged that Rae’s feelings are genuine and are requited, but they’re not actually together-together, yet. In Claire’s case, the issue is that all her social conditioning is telling her it is always the guy to make all the moves.
Apparently, Claire can get anxious whenever Rae acts overly familiar with anybody of the opposite gender. She knows Rae is gay, and will never fall for a man, but she doesn’t want any of them getting the wrong idea and thinking they can hit on her Rae.
Okay, so Loretta is also in love with Claire. I’m not surprised that so many characters are in love with our protagonists, but I find it somewhat comical that the canonically bi one only has other women falling for her, and it’s the lesbian who happens to also attract men. Claire is such a girl magnet, she might give even Manaria a run for her money if she really tried.
Also, unsurprisingly, Pepi has fallen for Loretta. Looks like that ship still has a chance to sail.
Dole is a master strategist and he knows Claire well. Even if Rae didn’t tell him, he would know Claire has a growing interest in anything to do with Rae. He likely acted the way he did on the trip to Euclid to intentionally make Claire feel she couldn’t stay in their summer home, and make spending the night with the Taylor’s seem all the more appealing. An underhanded and effective way for Claire to get first-hand experience on what life as a commoner is really like.
One thing the original novels didn’t touch on was what Rae Taylor was like before she met Claire. I know the manga has been exploring what BC Rae was like. My impression is she was a lot like the Pope, Clarice. A very stark contrast to how the present Rae acts, it’s no wonder the minions were so confused. It is a wonder why Misha never questioned it sooner.
I feel like this whole chapter was more for Loretta and Pepi’s development. There wasn’t much going on on Claire’s part we weren’t already aware of.
One of the more interesting developments is Pepi being tutored by Misha on using siren magic. There is no way they are proposing the idea of using a magical instrument to boost Pepi’s magic without following through. Considering the potential consequences, Pepi is not likely to use it unless Loretta is in imminent danger, and the only major conflict left is the revolution, so that’s concerning.
There were hints of it earlier, but now it is confirmed we have a human trafficking conspiracy, and of course poor Catherine’s family is in the centre of it. It doesn’t even seem like they are trying too hard to hide it so it’s only a matter of time before their house of cards crumbles. The only problem with that is just like with what happened to the Aurousseau’s, typically in this world the whole family is punished for the same crimes regardless of their involvement. If Claire were to decide to take matters into her own hands, that a-hole, Clément wouldn’t hesitate to use Catherine as a human shield, figuratively and literally.
Enter everyone’s third favourite character, who apparently can never catch a break, Lily.
And now we’ve found out that Pepi’s father is part of the aforementioned conspiracy. Which means now I have to worry about her AND Catherine, AND Loretta since her fiance that her family set her up with is also in the thick of this mess. As much as Pepi is worried about her father, I say he should go to hell with the rest of them. Pepi should worry more about herself (and her future wife).
Wait, wait, wait. If even Catherine, who is viewed as less than a pawn by her family, knows about Yu, how well kept is this secret? Could Yu’s potential reign have been any more compromised? If the royal family wasn’t already screwed by Dole’s schemes, what Rae did would have been considered a huge favour to them.
As Catherine rightly points out, Claire has yet to make her own confession, which is a huge part of why her relationship with Rae is stalling.
Hold on, did we ever establish before if Lily’s alter ego had a name? Okay, I just checked and in Lambert’s part in the previous volume, he did refer to the nasked stranger as Alter. It’s been a year since I read that and the name doesn’t appear anywhere else so I’m not surprised I forgot.
I would not be surprised if Salas was using the Achard’s human trafficking operation for his supply of test subjects. Bastard was doing all sorts of human experimentation, so he had to get his victims somehow.
It took me a moment to realise where Misha’s train of thought was going, but I will grant her it makes a lot of sense for what little she knows. I actually wouldn’t have held it against her if she turned Rae in. Rae might not have either. Claire definitely would have, though.
One thing I’m glad they addressed even if it didn’t occur to me, how does Rae cast antidote magic without a wand? She’s in prison, she shouldn’t have a wand, but apparently Dole pulled some strings on the sly. Anything for his partner-in-crime/future daughter-in-law.
As for the Misaki vision, since I finished the series, I’ve actually suspected that was TAIM’s doing, since she’s pulled similar stunts before.
And as soon as Claire returns from visiting Rae, she immediately wants to declare war on Queen Riche. Which I’d be down with. That bitch got a better ending than she deserved.
Volume 3 will probably be the last. Will Pepi and Loretta get together? Will Catherine finally be freed from her family of criminals? Will the Achard’s finally get their comeuppance? And what the hell was Claire up to during the whole revolution chapter since she ditched Rae?

My 2023 Anime Watchlist
Anime (and related media) I've watched this year
Tumblr media
Tokyo Mew Mew New Season 2 (2023)
Second (and final?) season of the Tokyo Mew Mew reboot! Always here for some good magical girls! I never finished watching the original series, so it was nice to see how the story goes. I wouldn't call it amazing, but it's a cool series. I wish they would make a third season for the A La Mode arc which came out later, but it seems they might be ending it here, Idk (I've never read the manga either)...
Subs since there's no dub.
Tumblr media
Saint Seiya: The Beginning a.k.a. Knights of the Zodiac (2023)
Live-action movie adaption. Would I watch more if they do it? Yeah. Was it good? Not really... I'm not saying it's horrible, but eh, it was weak. The absence of 3 out of 5 boys is definetely felt. I mean, I didn't expect much of it, so it's not like I was dissappointed! ^^' I'm a SS fan, so I was in to see what they cooked.
I watched it dubbed at the cinema (there wasn't a subbed session but it's fine!).
Tumblr media
One Piece: The Series Season 1 (2023)
Live-action adaption of the first arc. My first contact with the franchise! Charismatic group, the power of friendship, adventure in a new world, fun pirate crews... I loved it. Still pondering if I should get into this giant beast of an anime. It's just...So long. Never-ending. I'm sure I would like it but dear lord, is it long. Anyway. For now I'll content myself with waiting for the second season.
I alternated between dubs and subs! I think I prefer subbed but I wanted to check out the dub and it was also very good.
Tumblr media
Porco Rosso (1992)
A Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki oldie! I was keeping an eye out for the Ghibli Fest going on in the US this year and I realized this was the only movie in the list I hadn't watched yet, so. It's definetely not among my favorites, but it was a good movie. A Pig-faced bounty hunter pilot in and adventure through Italy. Needed a little more Gina thought!
Subs cause there's no dub.
Tumblr media
Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac Season 2 (2022)
Second season of the 3DCG reboot of Saint Seiya, covering the first half of the 12 Temples arc. It's definetely still way below the classic series, but the battles had quite an upgrade from season 1! Also no time spent on original characters I don't care about :) And of course it's always a pleasure to see the Gold Saints... and the scenes the classic series didn't adapt! I'm glad season 3 is coming next year!
I watched it dubbed (sadly they changed the og cast in my country, but the new one did a good job too).
Tumblr media
YashaHime: Princess Half-Demon Season 2 (2022-23)
Second (and final?) season of the Inu-Yasha spin-off sequel. Look, Yashahime has a lot of flaws, but it has its qualities too and personally I enjoyed it. Nice to travel around the feudal era in this world with familiar and new characters. I would watch more but I think that was it? Would definetely want them to make some changes... I heard the manga is different, so...food for thought!
I didn't have access to the dub when I watched s1 but this time I did! (I'm not very fond of parts of the dub, but overall it was good).
Tumblr media
Spy x Family S1 (2022) and S2 (2023)
After seeing gifs since last year I finally sit down to watch it! It's cute, it's funny, and it's cool! Spies, assassins, school, AND family shenanigans! Loved it. Bring me more. Looking forward for the upcoming movie and for the s3 announcement.
I watched most of it dubbed but the dub is a few episodes behind the subbed version so I finished season 2 in Japanese.
Tumblr media
Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning (2023)
I didn't even watch Kizuna but I heard it wasn't necessary so might as well go, specially since they actually put this movie in theaters in my country and got most of the og dub cast... Sadly I wasn't impressed by the movie. I thought it was pretty meh. Could have given more for the group to do (it was mostly about the new character). Anyway... PS: The opening sequence was LOVELY though!!! ^^
Tumblr media
Yu Yu Hakusho (1992-94)
I used to watch it back in the day, but never watched all of it until now! Good stuff. Not perfect, but it's a great series!!! Charismatic group, cool friendships, cool big bads, spirit detective shenaningans, youkai, and of course, battle tournaments!
Watched it dubbed, of course (except for the specials, since they weren't dubbed here). The series was in my watchlist for years but I guess knowing there would be "new" content is always a good push, which brings me to:
Tumblr media
Yu Yu Hakusho Season 1 (2023)
Live-action adaption of the first 2(!!) arcs. A pleasant surprise! The biggest problem here is definetely that it's too short. There's other flaws too, sure, but still! I had my doubts but turns out I really liked it, overall positive impression. I really hope they make more in the future!
I've watched it twice, once dubbed and once subbed!

could you describe us Douman's personality according to your own understanding? (i mean, with all this heels thing, he seems childish, but i love it)
oh man this is hard describing personalities is the one thing im worst at
(im taking "douman" as both his persona 1000 years ago and now)
the heels thing, I can totally understand, as a tall person whose only personality trait is being tall.
(and speaking of tall characters good god all the regularly appearing guys are so tall basically everyone is way above average height for asians)
i accidentally wrote an essay so im putting it under read more
In general
well, first of all, if i had to say in one sentence, he acts and tries to be serious but he's also not above participating in tomfoolery and being the butt of a joke (its a comedy manga after all)
Tumblr media
like here from sports day
for all that he wears a mask, he's one of the easier characters to get a read on (aka know what hes thinking) whether he's being honest or lying or tsundere
funny enough, the one moment i couldn't get a read on him at all was right after he killed seimei
actually if you'll notice, that scene had douman's face super concealed most of the time, either by the blood or his hair, or just turning his head away from us.
which wasn't the case at all for ch89, where his face was totally visible the whole time, up until he killed seimei.
funny enough x2, the character thats most IMPOSSIBLE to read is seimei. this man is INSCRUTABLE
i think it'll be useful to break down the different faces the principal shows to different people (or, "who other people think he is")
on a scale of principal to douman, there's:
principal (public persona)
principal, in private (who he is to the teachers etc)
acchan (who he is to ranmaru)
douman (who he was 1000 years ago, and who byakko etc see him as)
The Principal
the first two can be differentiated by whether the mask is totally covering his face
how much of his face is shown is also correlated with how much personal investment he has in the situation
the "who other people think he is" definition is also important. for example, for most of chapter 1, when he's interacting with haruaki, his mask totally covers his face, reflecting how haruaki's scared, and also how us as readers don't know what to make of this guy yet. but at the end of the chapter, when he's giving an extremely personal description of haruaki in front of the other teachers who he's also more familiar with, he takes the mask off.
Tumblr media
also importantly, check out the 3 whole versions of this one scene.
this is 3 whole versions of how he’s presenting himself, in one situation.
i’m inclined to believe ch1 is POV principal, ch92 is POV haruaki, and the one in yoseito what objectively happened.
he’s presenting himself as a professional, as the “principal”. to haruaki, he’s unfamiliar, and the mask is probably the most stand-out thing about him. objectively, he probably can’t help but have personal investment in all this.
Tumblr media
also, let's look at these 3 pages from ch33
you can see his thought process going from "wait, like, me personally?" to "ok gotta be grown-up and mature about this"
(also sidenote, izuna's speech bubble on that 3rd page is a tl error, it's more like "he's treating us? is there going to be a typhoon next week or something?" that kind of tone)
also of note is his mask itself, which is an Okina mask from Noh theater. the Okina play is one of the oldest plays still considered Noh theater, originating around the Nara or Heian period, from Noh theater's predecessor sarugaku. the play itself is more like a ritual or ceremony, a prayer for peace. the mask itself is the soft smile of a deity symbolising peace, bountiful harvests, and long lives. of note is the fact that the performer dons the mask onstage as part of the performance, "becoming" the god.
im sure you can see how this is quite relevant to who he is as the principal of hyakki.
Tumblr media
this exchange from ch 70 is also very interesting, because he’s showing his face this whole time. looking at it now, it’s because he’s entirely confident that haruaki would be able to pull it off from the outset. he is a gambler after all, as much as that’s played for jokes. he talks a whole lot, but it’s ultimately just to pressure haruaki into pulling it off properly. as such, his investment in this situation is entirely personal, instead of professional.
in that sense, i suppose him taking off his mask to threaten haruaki means the threat is coming from him personally, rather than him as the principal and his boss. i’m curious to know what other people’s read of this scene is, him taking off his mask is an interesting move, even if it was just for dramatics
i also wonder if the dramatic shading we see obscuring his face is also actually happening, obscuring his face from haruaki. in ch 88 little memory-aki says “that appearance, the principal?!”, the word used for appearance in japanese is almost always used for specifically clothes/figure, rather than face.
Acchan
the principal and ranmaru are especially complicated. theyre exes. theyre besties. theyre fighting. theyre kissing.
at least for a short while before the events of the main story, it seems like they didnt have much contact, considering principal had to ask ranmaru what name he was going by in ch61, when they’d already met twice (vol 4 kidnapping and ch33), he just never bothered to ask i guess.
at least in vol 4, ranmaru was actually pretty openly disdainful towards principal (probably bc he got ghosted for years)
in ranmaru’s eyes, “acchan” is probably somewhere in the middle of “principal” and “douman”, maybe even the 3rd corner of a triangle graph
on the principal’s part, it seems like he’s trying to keep ranmaru distant, at least at first. this is someone who knew him as douman, after all. every single interaction they have, he starts out with his guard totally up and as soon as he lets down his guard a little bit ranmaru gets under his skin and they fall into something like a routine. in terms of ability to get under his skin, ranmaru is basically second only to seimei.
there’s also the fact that they’re such similar people. they keep going to the same brothels/pachinko parlors, for example. this is probably also how ranmaru is so good at getting under his skin.
i think all this can be summarized by the way ranmaru calls him “acchan” and introducing himself as “ran-chan”, then principal going for the more distant “ranmaru-san” instead, because thats who ranmaru is to “the principal”, regardless of who ranmaru is to him as a person.
this all serves much the same purpose as his mask, I think. to distance himself from who he was as “douman”
Ashiya Douman
to be clear, it’s not like any of these faces are any more or less “real” or “fake”. they’re all the “real” principal
“douman” is.... complicated
even within the name “douman”, there’s a few versions:
who he is when his mask breaks
who byakko etc think he is
who he was 1000 years ago
though, it’s not like he turns into a whole different person when his mask gets broken, he just holds himself in a slightly different way, especially because he’s in front of byakko.
Tumblr media
these two pages can really be picked apart.
he first appears with his face slightly showing, because that’s who the students see him as, and who he presents himself as to the students. a familiar, reassuring face.
then when he addresses byakko the mask is totally covering his face, distancing himself. he’s desperately trying to keep up the facade for as long as possible. i’m the principal, he says, look at my cute narration box! he wasn’t getting out of this with his secrets intact and he knows it.
he tries to keep up the facade, and for good reason. byakko and the other gods have stayed the same this past 1000 years, and as much as he’s changed, he’s also stayed the same in ways
his mask getting broken especially brings the point home. he can change the way he dresses, he can change the way he talks, but his face is not just the same as it was 1000 years ago, but specifically as it was the moment he killed seimei, and that’s all he is to byakko.
Tumblr media
(and he does change the way he talks, by the way. you kinda have to hold yourself with some formality as a principal in the modern day, whereas 1000 years ago he talked in this kinda brash and vaguely disrespectful way about everything, and addressed seimei and suzaku without honorifics)
(though it could also be because of familiarity. in which case, “ranmaru-san” is like 10 steps down in familiarity from not using honorifics at all.)
as for who douman was 1000 years ago, it’s a bit hard to define because we really only get to see two scenes, and both are in relation to seimei.
i would try to define him by way of defining who seimei is to him, but because seimei is so inscrutable i don’t know how to do that.
what i do know, is that i don’t buy his spiel in ch90 at all
Tumblr media
while i do think it’s not entirely a lie, it’s also not the entire truth.
as much as he acted tsundere about it, he clearly had some respect for seimei, otherwise he would not let him get under his skin that easily.
they were clearly friends to some degree, otherwise he wouldn’t be “always so obsessed with seimei”, as ranmaru puts it.
which, i am all the more curious, who haruaki is to the principal. did he see him as seimei at one point? does he still? i wonder if there’s an intentional parallel in who amaaki is to the students, to who haruaki is to the principal and ranmaru.
Tumblr media
In Conclusion
uhhh TLDR, principal is my scrimblo, my blorbo, my meow meow, i care him a whole lot, i think hes a super fun character
hmm. im pretty bad at describing personalities. how did this turn into 1600 words
anon did this answer ur question like at all hmmm

matchup trade with @imjustabeanie
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
for jjba i match you up mikitaka hazekura!
☆ actually, you're the only reason he's still in one piece and alive since he arrived on earth. he have no idea about how should he act, despite the best intentions. he can be naive sometimes, you cannot convince me that he wouldn't be cheated by a guy who'd like to sell him a brick. in such cases you have to save him, at the same time verbally (and maybe also physically, why not?) destroying the person who wanted to take advantage of his lack of familiarity with the human world.
☆ you also quite corrupt him, not gonna lie about this. with your knowledge in languages you effectively, yet subtly, teach him swear words. he also imitates your behavior to some extent. he slowly learns to tease, when someone has a problem with him he responds sharply, not allowing himself to be belittled, but still politely, in the way he learned from you. he still doesn't get your sense of humour though.
☆ his love language is definitely quality time. for him there is nothing better than spending time with you. he loves learning as much as you do, so he wants to know everything about human culture and he'll be definitely interested in your hobbies. show him your favorite books, mangas and video games! teach him how to bake, draw some silly things with him! he loves every second with you.
☆ mikitaka is more than willing to return favors. so when you give him a gift, whatever it is, he will be overjoyed. and of course he'll do his best to repay you. and his gifts are always without any exceptions fancy and expensive and you have no idea where does he get them from. he'll just randomly give you a necklace that looks strangely similar to the jewels of some royal family, because he thought it would complement your aesthetic nicely.
☆ speaking of aesthetic, he absolutely loves your villainous look. clothes you wear makes you look so powerful. but when you wear more comfortable clothes or pj... it just hits different, okay? he just melts when he sees you like this, he thinks you look sweet. and when he sees you absolutely scary at mornings, he makes hearteyes. he feels honored and believes there is a certain intimacy to it, that you let him see you like this. even if you could literally rip out his windpipe. there is no logical explanation for this. but that's basically what love is, isn't it?
☆ he'll tell you about space as much as you want. he's over the moon to share his knowledge about his planet of origin and more. you often go on stargazing dates, laying on grass, cuddled into each other, exchanging trivias between kisses, staring into the starry space above you.
☆ he can be pessimistic and self-reproaching. so when you don't want to talk about problems he feels useless and desperately tries to prove that he can be great partner, who you can rely on in every situation. but after more time spent with you he starts to understand it's just the way you are and there in nothing wrong neither in him nor in you. he accepts and respects your wishes and won't push you.
☆ sometimes he gets jealous but he doesn't understand this feeling. because it's not that he doesn't trust you or something. it's that he is usually very calm person, so intensity of his jealousy is confusing him. but he knows perfectly well that he should mark his position in a subtle way and direct your attention towards him. subconsciously he'll put his arm around you, measuring your interlocutor with his green eyes barely concealing his reluctance. usually, after this situation happens, mikitaka brings you more of his cryptic gifts. just to make it clear that you are his.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
for tokyo revengers i match you up shuji hanma!
☆ he dislikes people other than himself. well, until you came into picture. he had to make update: he dislikes people other than you and himself. Now it’s you and him vs the world. you are partners in crime and he’s very loyal. you guys are that one goregous mean couple who can and absolutely will destroy people. you are the bane of other people’s existence.
☆ you amuse him. that's actually one of the main the reasons he sticks up with you. he likes your complex personality, your shaky moral compass. he loves when you put someone in their place, verbally or phisically, or both. you just make things interesting in his life. he loves when you debate with him and when you're coming up with interesting stuff or how much you're invested in your hobbies.
☆ hanma enjoys competing with you. you have such fun, chaotic dynamic! you are both about to be really chaotic because youre both competitive and do not back down from doing the most questionable shit ever. he feels challenged by your intelligence and sharp wit, so you end up one-upping each other, trying to outdo each other in most random terms. neither of you can stand to lose anything and it's always a competition whenever you do something together.
☆ he sometimes sparrs with you, he thinks it's great fun. he won't go easy on you, though. that would be boring. he finds your fierciness very attractive. sometimes he compliments that mischevious sparkles gleaming in eyes in the middle of the sparring. he stands out in endurance so your sparrs would last long. also his strenght is incredible so your sparrs are intense. he is highly competent in every last of his fighting movements but he can lose because of his carelessness. and you will be happy to take advantage of this fact. it's not like you'd go easy on him, or something.
☆ getting random knocks at your window whenever he decides he just has to see you. because, of course, he’d never use door like normal human being. he’ll just randomly show up at your place, because he felt like it, sometimes on ungodly hours. he likes stealing things for you. especially things complimenting your villain aesthetic, which he finds hot. after all, the best time to give gifts to you is 3 a.m., right?
☆ he enjoys your teasing a lot and of course he will tease you back. lots of, i repeat, lots of flirting. like i said, everything you do is a competition, and of course your flirting counts in. sometimes you compete over things like who will make the other person blush more or who has the worst pickup line (hanma usually wins this competition)
☆ he loves that you’re not overly clingy or jealous. he dislikes the type of partner that tries to control what he does in his free time, or is so jealous that they start making assumptions and refuse to trust him. he doesn't want to be suffocated by his partner.
☆ you guys may create chaos together, but he would always keep you safe, no matter what. he’d put his life before yours. you mean a lot to him, he’s not ready to lose you by any means. it's just... he have so much fun with you, you relieve his intense boredom. whenever you're around him, he sees life as colorful and like a circus. without you he'd sink into apathy. your company fulfills the empty hole in his desires for madness and chaos. he’ll always have your back.

gacha game anon - you have my full encouragement on going back to fgo! for some of the faults with it, the writing in Camelot (chapter 6) and onwards is amazing, and from what I know it just keeps getting better from then on. im on anastasia at the moment and it hasn't dipped in quality for me so far! it's a bit of a slog until it gets good but when it gets good it gets REALLY good. and good luck on your protoarthur rolls! i don't remember when he's on gacha but if you've got $15 to spare the guaranteed SSR is going on right now and im 80% sure he's on one of the banners that's up right now.
i haven't played granblue yet but with that endorsement i want to check it out! im always on the lookout for new gacha games, I started nikke myself recently but nothing else has much caught my eye. i completely agree though localization being trash is the number one reason I usually quit on games I think I otherwise would have loved. but I've generally heard great things about granblue and would love to try it out. if you like I will keep you updated on that!
and totally take your time on mahoyaku, when you get to it I recommend watching a video of the game, or playing it alongside if you can get your hands on it as it's jp only at the moment. i went in with no visuals and it took me a lot longer to put names to faces and stop getting everyone confused with each other haha.
enstars is a very good game but the lack of access to translations and the subpar level of quality for the English version has been really hurting it. the rhythm aspect is fun, actually, but my heart will always be with enstars basic. which has no rhythm elements, but mirrors the original idea for the game, which was an idol game where people who can't play rhythm games could still participate. unfortunately they didn't even try to give that version an english release, probably because they would have to translate a good five years worth of event stories from the previous game that are hosted on that version. which is really unfortunate because id love to read the official translations for those. and thank you for that image lol im definitely going to be saving that for future use!
I didn't mind the first few arcs in FGO, but I've read a lot of manga in my time including a lot of bad shounen and romcoms so my pain tolerance is pretty high. My brain is just like oh man time to read more fgo *burns all my AP on farming mats* . I will probably make a liveblog tag at some pt though I probably need a theme so I can just put a page up with different threads im running through since I use my pinned for my videos rn
Granblue is honestly very dear to my heart but the like "end game" cycle is very unappealing bc its super grindy - that said the story stuff [the main attraction imo] is not power-gated so you're not forced to engage with the worst aspects of the game (i.e. multiplayer/ranking called "unite and fight" or guild wars, kind of similar to how idol game card farming works). The event stories & main story are for everyone, so that's fun :' ). Also they do fun character themes, which I love - I think most people got hooked once they did What Makes The Sky Blue Parts 1-3 (it's like an epic about fighting for the fate of the world but in a more direct sense than most of the early conflicts in the story) which you can do in the event archive nowadays once you pass a certain chapter I believe. The art style might seem somewhat familiar bc the art director used to work for Square Enix
Granblue is kind of funny because just, one day they decided "yeah we will support eng" but the login stuff & lack of a localised app. It's just a web-game so they never released it in other regions, it just has full english language support - thankfully it's just like a g-mail signup process not as annoying as like doing lottery for an account like kancolle was
Mahoyaku I'll have to just login to my jp itunes acc dl it and play along or st so I know what people look like

Can you do dr stone angst?? preferrably senku x reader and the reader experiencing one-sided/unrequited love 🏃🏃 pls no happy ending i need to suffer 🏃🏃🏃 [though if you do know how to write a hanahaki au, pls do that instead] 🏃🏃🏃

"What a silly way to die. Death by flowers,” is what you thought to yourself when you first heard of the illness. “there’s no way such a thing could exist."
~ Hi anon! Thank you so much for your request! Im not very familiar with the hanahaki trope but i wanted to give it a shot - i hope it’s okay! Hopefully none of the characters are too ooc </3
P.s., yellow tulips represent one-sided love in japanese :)
warnings: death, vomiting (flowers), talk of sickness, blood, some swearing. there are no manga spoilers :)
words: over 4k holy this is long
Constructive feedback is always welcome! I’m always looking to improve!
Requests are open! (check my pinned post!)
The Hanahaki disease was vaguely mentioned in one of Ishigami Village’s 100 tales. A woman, in love with a man who didn’t love her back, had suffocated on yellow tulips that she could not stop throwing up. Nobody knew much else about the mysterious illness- no origins were stated, no cure, and there was no record of anyone in the village ever experiencing such an ailment. Maybe it was a metaphor of some kind?
‘What a silly way to die. Death by flowers,” is what you thought to yourself when you first heard of the illness. “there’s no way such a thing could exist.
But if Chrome has his sorcery, then maybe it wasn’t so improbable. Who knows how much Ishigami Village has yet to discover? Besides, the 100 tales are the reason we know so much already."
When Ruri first fell ill, some speculated she had the mysterious disease. Since they were young, people had always known that Chrome and Ruri shared a strong bond- perhaps Ruri’s feelings were strong enough to make her sick. As time went on however, Ruri never once coughed up flowers or flower petals, so the idea was eliminated.
But Ruri was still ill, and nobody knew how to cure her for good. No one was certain that the hot spring water Kohaku brought for baths had healing properties, and nobody even knew what it was that was ailing her.
That was until one day, Kohaku told you about a stranger she had brought to the village with the hot spring water for her older sister. Her ponytail was tied differently, and she was late to retrieve the hot spring water, which was very unlike her. Just who exactly was this stranger, and what were their intentions? If Kohaku trusts them enough to bring them back to the village, however, you had reasoned with yourself, maybe they weren’t all that dangerous.
The stranger was a boy your age who introduced himself as Senku, and you had eyed him with a raised brow. Chrome stood not too far behind him, running his mouth about some minerals he had in his shed, but not in the arrogant way he usually did. It was a surprise to see how outgoing your friend was with a foreigner. Chrome and Kohaku explained to you that Senku was a sorcerer- sorry, scientist- able to cure Ruri of her sickness, and upon hearing this, you were excited but reluctant to trust him.
You wanted to be cold at first. Unattached, uneasy to sway, but god did Senku make it difficult. Even when he was an asshole, you couldn’t help but hook on to his every word, enthralled with everything he had to say and offer. You’d observe him in the midst of an experiment with curiosity and stare in amazement over the incredible results he was able to produce. It seemed supernatural to you.
It didn’t take long for you to become a citizen of the Kingdom of Science, aiding your friends in creating the panacea that would help Ruri beat her sickness. After obtaining magnets with iron and gaining some help from the villagers and outsider, Gen Asagiri, it was time for the final test, with Kinro and Ginro helping to generate the electricity you worked so hard to create. You were on the roof of the shed with Senku and Chrome, waiting in anticipation.
“Y/N, does the night scare you?” Senku asked you suddenly as he concentrated his eyes on the bamboo fiber in front of him with a small frown.
“Huh? Well…sure. Everything gets all dark.” You replied, studying his face. “Why do you ask?”
“Back in my day, there was no darkness. With old man Edison’s incandescent light bulb, humanity beat back the night, conquering all twenty four hours of the day. Through the power of science, mankind defeated the darkness, and now we’re gonna do it again.” Your eyes trailed down to watch Senku bring the wires closer to the ends of the fiber. “For the first time in 3700 years, the flame of science will burn.”
The ends met, and a brilliant white light brightly illuminated your faces. You stared in awe of the artificial light, amazed by how Senku was able to make such a thing happen. You realized how loud your heart was pounding, partly because of the incredible power of science and the excitement you felt over this invention and the progress you were making with the Kingdom of Science, but mostly because of the slow smile that spread across Senku’s face, a determined glint in his eye dancing in the warm light. His smile widened when the light fizzed out and he met your eyes, and the world around you seemed to grow quiet.
Multiple windows of opportunity opened as you continued to gather materials and gain allies. It was only after Senku won the grand bout that your feelings began nagging at you.
Sitting around a fire with your friends at Senku’s celebration party, you tuned out the conversation and let your mind drift to the scientist.
You felt a strong sense of pride knowing Senku and how far he’s come in such a short amount of time, starting off as merely a stranger you and many others were weary of to becoming a leader. Your heart raced every time you watched him fall again in love with his passion, and you found yourself wanting to be near him always; to indulge in what he does, to know of every crazy concept he lived out 3700 years ago. And then you realized what was happening and started thinking very fast.
Without realizing it, you had slowly been falling in love with Senku. With his mind, his passion and persistence, his wit and cunningness. With him. And with every new hurdle you cleared with the Kingdom of Science, with every thrilling experiment and development, you fell further.
But you knew how Senku was. Romance didn’t interest him in the slightest- in fact, he was actually disgusted by the idea of being romantically involved with someone. So how the hell were you to go about this?
He was never going to return your feelings, and you had no idea if your own feelings would fade. You would never be involved with Senku in the way that you wanted to be and were horrified at the idea of him finding out about your feelings and being repulsed by you, terrified of losing the friendship you had with him. Right in the midst of your panic, you felt your chest tighten and you started coughing uncontrollably, covering your mouth with your hand. You and the others were taken aback, and you did everything you could to seize your fit.
“Y/N! Are you okay?!” Kohaku cried out and put a hand on your shoulder, while the others around you stared in concern.
“I’m…fine…” you coughed out, taking sharp inhales and moving your hands away from your face, balling them into fists. “Something just got caught…in my throat…”
“You sure you're okay?”
“Yup…! No worries!” You straightened up and gave your friend a tight-lipped smile as she reluctantly brought her hand away from you. I need to pull myself together. Senku is outrageously observant. You were grateful that he hadn’t yet joined the party and noticed the yellow flower petal you tucked away into your pocket.
After Ruri was healed and Senku became chief, the Kingdom of Science’s top priority was defeating the Tsukasa Empire, and there was no time to waste.
Only ten minutes after your incident, Senku had returned to the village, and Gen revealed that Tsukasa was planning to strike. Everything moved quickly from there.
After Hyoga and Homura’s attack on the village, the citizens were working to rebuild what was lost as well as create an invention that would give the Kingdom of Science the upper hand against the Tsukasa Empire. Senku revealed that the next painstaking project the Kingdom of Science would undergo would be to create something called a cellphone, a device that allowed one to communicate with others over long distances. You and everyone else could hardly wrap your minds around such a thing (including the modern-timer, Gen, but for different reasons). This is the kind of technology Senku’s people possessed? Was such a thing really possible?
And Senku smiled his signature smile with that determined glint in his eye, and you were reminded that this was Senku we were talking about. With his brilliance and resilience and the help of the villagers, he could absolutely pull something like that off. Your heart skipped a beat as his eyes met yours, and he nodded in sincerity upon seeing the skeptic look on your face. A cell phone, huh?
During the project, your condition didn’t get any better. You had started developing frequent pains in your chest and you couldn’t stop coughing up flower petals. It started with one or two once or twice a day, and over time increased to four or five petals up to three times a day. Luckily, you were able to sense the petals rise painfully up your throat, and it gave you enough time to make a hurried excuse to get away from the others before being thrown into a coughing fit.
Even with the pain, there was no chance in hell you were going to tell anyone about the disease. It was your fault for being so emotional, especially during such a busy period. Nobody had the time to look out for you and worry, you could make it through this on your own.
But you found that the heartache you felt over Senku only grew with time. Unfortunately, your feelings didn’t fade in the slightest, but only grew stronger and stronger. I mean how could they not? Watching him sprawled over blueprints with a slight pout, listening to him ramble about the science behind this and that- it was all so endearing. You wanted desperately to tell him how you felt and to have your feelings reciprocated, but that wasn’t an option. You could never be intimate in the way you wanted to be with Senku.
You were painfully reminded of this on days where Senku was a bit more reserved than usual. When he would retreat into the observatory or the lab for hours, or when he seemed particularly serious about the mission, avoiding  jokes and keeping conversation outside of the cell phone to a minimum. You felt like you were straying away from him, and on these days, your condition worsened and was became increasingly more difficult to hide.
Soft touches you initiated had him feigning ignorance, moving away from you and continuing his work. Questions you asked about himself were quickly shut down and maneuvered to more science talk, and you'd retreat from him after failing to be further let into his heart throwing up more and more pretty yellow petals.
-
After months of hard work, the cell phones (yes, phone(s). Can you believe Senku didn’t tell anyone that TWO were needed?) were complete. A plan was formed to send Gen, Chrome and Magma to hand off one of the phones to Taiju and Yuzuriha, Senku’s modern day friends who were spies within the Tsukasa Empire, and get them to convince other members to join the Kingdom of Science by telling an elaborate lie.
It was the evening prior to Gen, Chrome and Magma’s departure. Everyone was asleep except for you, who sat under a tree staring at the stars, coughing up more petals here and there. The hanahaki disease didn’t make it easy to sleep and on a good night, you’d only wake up once. You collected every flower petal you threw up and kept them all in small, secret pouches you had sewn into your clothing. You were miserable. Nothing you tried was helping cure this illness that, only a year ago, you were certain was fictional. You knew nothing about the sickness either, working with barely any information on how to rid yourself of this wretched sickness.
The only cure you could think of was the most straightforward one- your romantic feelings needed to be returned. The illness seemed to be connected to one-sided love, so surely if Senku returned your feelings, you would be cured, right?
But that was never going to happen. Senku hadn’t once expressed any romantic interest in you or anyone else. And if you were to tell him that the only way you could avoid death was by having your feelings returned, that’d put a massive weight on him. You couldn’t do that. You couldn’t let Senku feel like he had killed you.
You coughed again, this time a little more violently, and covered your mouth. God, you hated this.
“You sure do have quite the asty-nay cough there.” A voice sang and cut through the still air.
You quickly put your hands down and turned your head toward the owner. Only a distance away was the mentalist, a small smile dancing on his face as he approached you and took a seat at the foot of the tree beside you.
“It’s quite chilly. Wish spring would come already.”
“What are you doing out here?”
Gen chuckled and craned his neck to look at you. “Couldn’t sleep and decided to come out to get some fresh air. I have quite the role in this scheme, it’s stressful, you know?”
You rolled your eyes at his whining, continuing to gaze up at the stars.
“It must also be stressful covering up that dreadful hanahaki disease.”
Your eyes widened and you quickly whipped your head to look at him, but his gaze had left your face, now staring off into the same sky. Shit, I’m figured out. Do I play dumb?
“No point in trying to hide it from me, dear Y/N. I’ve been observing you. Your symptoms are all too familiar.” Gen sang again. Damn. It’s like he read my mind. And in a way he did. He is a mentalist after all. But how would he know of the hanahaki disease? It must’ve existed in his time.
“Yes, us modern-timers also dealt with hanahaki. Lots of lives were lost over it. It’s quite poetic, honestly. Death by flowers.” Gen commented in an airy tone. “The more pressing question is, how do you know of it? You didn’t recognize pneumonia but know of this?”
“It was briefly mentioned in one of the 100 tales. Nobody in the village had ever borne the sickness, so I assumed it wasn’t real. Well, that was until…”
The light-heartedness of the conversation quickly faded away. Gen’s face was now hard, mouth formed into a frown, and you sighed.
“Of course you would’ve been the first to get suspicious.”
“You mean dear Senku hasn’t figured you out yet? That’s surprising, but you know better than anyone that our Senku is no idiot. He’ll find out soon enough. And what do you plan to do when he confronts you?”
“He won’t. I’ll cover it up so he has no need to get suspicious and investigate me.”
Gen shrugged his shoulders and an airy smile formed on his face yet again. “I’m sure you already figured out that to cure the hanahaki disease, your beloved needs to return your feelings. But this is Senku we’re talking about, so that seems highly unlikely.”
He even knew that Senku was the person you fell for. How obvious were you? Then again, Gen is a mentalist.
“There is…another way, but it’s impossible in this stone world. You could get surgery to remove the flowers from your lungs, but that’d mean losing the feelings you have for Senku. Even if you were willing to give that up, nobody could help with the operation, certainly not me.”
“So that’s it? I’m out of options?”
Gen’s smile was sour now, and he seemed to be reflecting on something, but his train of thought was interrupted when you started coughing again, not being quick enough to cover your mouth and doubling over to throw up more yellow tulip flower petals onto the grass. Gen stared in horror. You stared in horror.
“I don’t want you to worry about me, Gen. I’ll…I’ll figure something out. I refuse to die. I can’t die. I just can’t leave my friends with that grief and guilt. Plus, they’re busy preparing for the battle against the Tsukasa Empire. I can’t distract them from our goal. I feel horrible putting this on you but please don’t tell anyone.”
Gen stared at you, very obviously having some internal conflict in his head. Eventually he sighed again and his shoulders sagged. “Don’t die, dear Y/N, or else I’ll feel partly responsible.”
-
Nothing was working.
You were convinced you had tried every healing method you could possibly think of. In the summer, you would take hot spring baths. In the winter, you wore layers. You forced yourself to eat and drink plenty (even though the disease gave you a lack of appetite), you trained on the daily (despite being tired), and you kept yourself busy. The coughing would seize for a little while though, and you found that better than being hunched over 24/7.
It had become increasingly more difficult to randomly leave and throw up flower petals though. Someone else will soon figure it out, but you couldn’t predict if that would be before or after the disease had claimed your life.
Gen helped cover for you and you appreciated it beyond belief, but soon enough, it was time for him to take on his task of delivering the cellphone to Taiju and Yuzuriha.
“Don’t start throwing up flowers while I’m gone, dear Y/N.” You also appreciated his lightheartedness throughout the whole thing. It was a bit easier to manage with the mentalist being able to cheer you up just a slight bit.
You were thankful that you and the others had Homura to focus on instead of just sitting and waiting around for the phone to be delivered the entire time, but you were also getting increasingly weaker. You definitely weren’t a prominent fighter however, so nobody was really looking to you for much assistance in the strength department. In lots of ways, things could've been worse.
Senku could’ve found out a lot faster, for example. But he didn’t, and you’ve been able to remain by his side.
In all honesty, you were scared when you first found out you had Hanahaki disease. When you coughed up that first flower petal, a million thoughts rushed into your head and you felt faint, both possibly from your coughing fit and your stress.
You were the only one to have ever endured the Hanahaki disease. Nobody else had ever experienced it, and you didn’t even believe it was real! So when you continued throwing up petals, you were sent spiralling. You were overthinking everything you knew, and while it may have been dramatic, you felt lost and scared. It made you think about your relationship with Senku as well. You feel guilty for accidentally putting this weight on him without his knowledge, for putting this weight on the entirety of Ishigami Village.
The sickness seemed to subside while working alongside Senku and Gen in convincing members of the Tsukasa Empire to join over to the Kingdom of Science, at least for a little while. You were close with Senku, and you didn’t need to grieve over anything for a little while. You could just focus on the present. You could simply be content with the little nods of affirmation he'd give you accompanied with a small smile.
If this was how you were to meet your end, you’ll be happy just to have known this incredible man.
The rest seemed like a blur after getting Ukyo to join Senku. The Kingdom of Science was starting to prepare its infiltration of the miracle cave after Chrome had returned safe from his capture, and the battle was a haze. There were many close calls, many times you thought you wouldn’t be able to uphold the agreement that no blood would be shed. You were scared you were going to lose the people you love.
But in the end, you reigned victorious. Tsukasa had teamed with Senku to take down Hyoga, and the rest of you had worked to capture Homura. As you were all making your way back to your base, you stopped to stare at the sun approaching the horizon.
“It’s hard to believe but finally...it’s over.”
A laugh you were all too familiar with. You turned around to see Senku climbing up to join you at your side. “Are you making a joke or what? That’s backwards. Right now, we’re finally getting started. We got all these people to work together with us, to build a real kingdom of science.”
You looked over at him in all his glory as the rising sun basked you both in its glow. Another chapter was beginning, another with Senku in it, another promised to be just as exciting and eventful as the last. Your heart soared.
-
Senku is upset. Obviously he’s upset, he has to kill his dying friend. You had seen the more colder and distant parts of Senku before, but you had never imagined him being so emotional, so delicate. Your heart had wings just a while ago, and now it was as if you had flown too close to the sun, getting your hopes up that everything would work itself out.
It was around this time that everyone was coming together that you were entering the final stages of your sickness. Flowers were blooming in your lungs, and it was now permanently difficult to breathe. It became near impossible to disguise your wheeze and sharp inhales, not being able to explain to the people who love and care for you that you were slowly dying.
You knew you didn’t have much time left, and you were getting panicked. You didn’t have any time to think of other possible cures, and you didn’t have the strength to pursue any projects. Were you seriously doomed?
“Maybe not, dear Y/N.” Gen. What did he mean by that? “I just so happened to find some leftover panacea while clearing out the lab,” and at that, your eyes widened as Gen held up a leaf with the drug. Of course. The cure all sulfa drug. How did you not think of this sooner?
“The thing is, I have no idea if this’ll work. I’ve never heard of a drug being able to cure hanahaki. Hell, it may even kill you immediately! But, if it’s meant to be a cure-all drug, why not give it a try?”
There was no time to waste. Gen immediately gave you the medicine to take, and you two waited anxiously to see what happened. A minute passed. Two. Five. Okay, so you weren’t dead, that was a good sign.
Hours passed, and you didnt cough up a single flower or petal. By the end of the day, you had nothing to stuff your pockets with. You had never hugged anyone harder in your life.
By morning the next day however, Gen found you in your tent limp and unmoving. His eyes widened at the scene in front of him and tears formed, rushing off to call for help and being forced to tell everyone about your condition. Tulips. Yellow tulips drenched in blood, some sticking to your face and arm, some on the ground.
The drug had gotten rid of your symptoms for a little while, but didn’t actually cure you. Neither you nor Gen were medical professionals in the slightest and had no idea how to go about using the antibiotic on the hanahaki disease. Maybe if you took it regularly, you would've lived. Maybe if you had taken it earlier. Maybe.
The feeling was bittersweet. In your last moments, you could see your life flash before your eyes, and you internally laughed at the cliché. You saw yourself grow up in the village, befriending Kohaku, Chrome, Ruri, Kaseki and Suika. You saw yourself hunched over Senku to watch him experiment with something, a smile on his face and your eyes wide with awe. You saw many memories with Senku, some of them being times where you felt like you had a chance. Times when you caught Senku staring at you, rare times where Senku showed a bit more vulnerability and talked more openly about his past. He grew just like you did, and you did it together.
You hoped he would forgive you. You hoped everyone would, because in the end, you didn’t regret loving Senku Ishigami. Hopefully in the next life, you were able to start that next chapter with him.

Do u have any good lady's isekai falls-in-love-with-a-prince-from-a-novel type webcomic recommendation? I read 2 and now im hooked
Do I EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most of these I find on Webtoon. If you join webtoon and read regularly, you'll see them suggesting more things you might like, and new stuff on the main page, and you'll discover more and more of them, too. 💖
Tumblr media
Happily Ever Afterwards - The heroine is reborn AFTER the epilogue of her fave novel, after her favorite character has been exiled from the kingdom due to the story’s events (he’s a tragic, sympathetic character).  She sets about traveling to the cold, difficult kingdom of his exile to try to convince him to marry her, so that she can give him the happiness he deserves to have after all of the sad events from the book!  This comic is SOOOOO sweet, cute, and fluffy-fluff! ☁️
-
Tumblr media
The First Night With the Duke - Starts out with a lot of comedy, but has gotten much more serious as the chapters have progressed, with some intense scenes that I haven’t been crazy about.  The heroine completely derails the plot of the novel by being born as a random, unnamed side-character who accidentally seduces the male lead, and no romance between him and the actual female lead ever even has the chance to happen. 😅
-
Tumblr media
The Matchmaking Baby Princess - The heroine is born as a tiny baby princess, who uses her super cute charm to influence the characters around her so that things turn out better for them than the way the novel goes.  This one is still fairly new, so the episodes haven’t shown a whole lot about how she derails the story yet, but, it is REALLLY CUUUUUTE!!  And has very beautiful scenes of palatial gardens and such.  Also obviously the heroine herself is not the one that the romance happens to lol.
-
Tumblr media
His Majesty's Proposal - This one is a bit similar to The First Night With the Duke, with a rando side character getting proposed to by the prince after spending a night with him.  A fun twist with this one is that the heroine is reincarnated from a crotchety old woman in her previous life, so she uses all kinds of old person slang (like calling people “whippersnappers” and stuff like that lol) and is kind of rude and grumpy lol.
-
Tumblr media
Every Rose Has a Death Flag - Pretty typical isekai where the heroine is reincarnated as the villainess and knows that all of her ends are bad ends, so she tries to remove herself from the attentions of the prince and the other main characters, but through the process ends up endearing herself to them instead.  Good stuff without any weird quirks or gimmicks. 👌
-
Tumblr media
Tricked into Becoming the Heroine's Stepmother - The protagonist is actually one of the AUTHORS of this novel, so she is familiar with exactly what will be happening to all of the characters!  She is reincarnated as a rando townsperson though, and doesn’t have much influence, until she appeals to the prince and just spills the fact that she’s the author and knows everything that’s going to happen to the princess (his daughter) in the future lol?!  And he believes her??  And employs her to his household in order to prevent any of the princess’ suffering???  Also did I mention that the princess is the most adorable little toddler ever, with fluffy hair like a chestnut? 😭😭
-
Tumblr media
The Male Lead's Girl Friend - Again, the heroine is reborn as the villainess of the story, and attempts to distance herself from the male lead as much as she can (endearing herself to him in the process).  Some of the interesting quirks here are that she ships the male and female lead SUPER HARD, and is trying everything she can to hook them up together, but they both only seem to fall for her harder with every attempt. 😄 There is also a cool school/academy setting to this one to set it apart from the others with similar plots, as well as BIG YURI VIBES between the protagonist and the female lead.
-
Tumblr media
How to Survive a Romance Fantasy - This is the most comedy-intensive of everything on this list.  In fact, it just kept getting sillier as its chapters went on, and I actually dropped it from my reading list because it wasn’t making me laugh as hard anymore as it was in the beginning.. 😅 In this one, three normal-world folks are reborn in the fantasy world, as the heroine, the prince, and the villainess, and ALL THREE of them hate it and want nothing to do with the plot, so they run away as far from the plot as they can, and are also keeping their identities as the main characters secret from one another.  It is very, very silly.
-
Non-Webtoon Webcomics
These have not been officially picked up & translated.  To read them in English, you will have to find them online where they are posted by fan translators.
Tumblr media
The Villainess is a Marionette - This is for real probably my very favorite comic on this whole list, and can you believe how beautiful the art style is???  The tone of this one is totally different from any of the others here.  The protagonist is reborn as a malicious villainess with particularly cruel endings in her future, and she sets about to avoid them by using her power, influence, and wiles to manipulate the royal intrigue happening around her.  She’s... RELATIVELY kinder than the original villainess was in the story, and several characters that were her enemies in the original story are endeared to her now, but she’s still got her claws sunk into the royal family’s shady dealings.  This is a “bad boss b*tch” kind of heroine lol, and it’s super satisfying to see her come out ahead of the other villains with her crazy 4D chess manipulations.
-
Tumblr media
Sincerely: I Became a Duke's Maid - A super snuggly, sweet, and fluffy story where the protagonist is reborn as a maid during the tragic antihero’s childhood.  He is afflicted with a painful curse, and the protagonist, knowing that only more pain is ahead for him, does her best to befriend him and make his youth a little bit lighter.
-
Tumblr media
Who Made Me A Princess - Yet again, a tragic end awaits this princess that the protagonist is reborn as in her childhood, so she uses her cute charm to change the king’s attitude toward her (he was neglectful in the original story).  Some interesting original-plot-derails happen in this one, where her innate magic power is much stronger than it’s supposed to be, and she needs the help of a magical pet creature and a very handsome wizard to sustain her life in this world.
-
Tumblr media
Seduce the Villain's Father - This one wins the award for having the most hilarious title in this list. 😆 It’s much cuter and lighter than it sounds!!  This protagonist derails the original plot by allowing herself to be kidnapped by the villain’s kingdom instead of the intended character (her sister).  She is reborn among characters the generation before the events of the novel, so the villain himself isn’t here yet - but his handsome dad is!  And if she can convince him not to marry the woman that would become the villain’s mother, then the storyline is saved!  Probably!
-
Special mention:
Tumblr media
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Roads Lead to Doom! - This anime is probably the main “reincarnated as the villainess” isekai that introduced most of us to this concept. 😅 I’ve linked to where you can watch the anime for free on Crunchyroll, but there is also a manga if you’d prefer to read it!  While there are many, many comics that use this plot hook, this is the only one that made it to anime form, so it’s like, required watching!
-
To close this long list up, all of these recs are JUST ISEKAI!!!!  If I were recommending my favorite webcomics in general, there could also be Cursed Princess Club, The Remarried Empress, The Princess’ Jewels, and Men of the Harem in this list...
There are so, so many comics with beautiful art styles featuring gorgeous princesses, it’s crazy!! 😭😭 I could for real spend my whole life reading them probably?? 👌👌  Those millions of women that read romance novels about dukes falling in love with noble women are suddenly extremely relatable.

Shigaraki smut because I’m bored
NSFW | Pairing shigaraki x female reader | degrading, oral, masturbation, restraining | Dom shiggy | Smut and some fluff (eventually)
A/N : I don’t write smut so I don’t know how good this is lol
——————————————————————————
It almost seemed like it was intentional.
When you first joined the league, you were wearing a short, black skirt along with black thigh high boots and a dark red top. You barely had any makeup on, and you had a choker that seemed too big for your neck. Your hair covered most of your face, and your blindfold covered your eyes, leaving only your mouth visible.
The way you walked didn’t help. You hips swayed with every step you took, sometimes making your skirt ride up. Your top had a deep V neck shape, revealing some of your chest.
You sat down at the bar, taking a sip of your whiskey. You originally agreed to meet with them a month ago to talk about an alliance, but your group had disbanded. Dabi convinced you to join instead.
He couldn’t help but stare. Your h/c hair covered your ears and rested on your back, curling slightly at the end. Your quirk wasn’t special, it was useful but you couldn’t do much with it either. Yet there was still something captivating him, whether it was the mystery of what was behind your blindfold, or what was under your clothes.
He stared at you, your beautiful voice filling the room as Dabi introduced you to toga and twice. He didn’t even notice you approaching him.
“So you must be Shigaraki, nice to meet you!” You said, your voice filled with excitement. Your smile seemed to make the room that much brighter.
He wanted to say something, but you were already gone, his eyes going back to staring into space.
He would catch himself coming out of his room more just to hear your voice. You never took off your blindfold around anyone except Dabi, it was a little strange to him. Out of all the people, why would you show dabi, especially when you had him. He would cherish your beautiful eyes. Hell, he hasn’t even seen them and yet he still finds himself trying to figure out what color your eyes are, getting lost in his own imagination.
Your smile seemed to brighten the room. Every time you entered a room, all eyes were on you. He couldn’t decide if he hated it or if he liked it, most likely both. Men would go up to you, asking you out, but he knew it was only to see what was under your clothes. They were all little boys in a man’s body to him.
He could’ve treated you the way you deserved, if only you weren’t so goddamn scary. Your insults were never held back. You would say what was on your mind, whether it was a compliment or something that could completely ruin one’s self esteem. Every time someone had approached you with the familiar bouquet of flowers, you would turn them down, insulting and slapping them before turning around. He couldn’t risk it, not with the way he thinks of himself. You’d only dig a deeper hole into him, it’s not like his opinion about himself was necessarily good anyway.
Group pictures sent to him by toga would always end up covered in his seed, even if it was an innocent picture of you and twice. Hell, he’d take anything he could get. Bedsheet after bedsheet would end up stained and ruined, and he’d have to wipe off his phone afterwards.
His eyes would move over everything about you. Your neck, your hips, your smile, anything was good enough for him. He’d focus on your face the most though, trying to imagine how well you’d take him. Your neck was a good one too, oh what he’d give to see the collar he had gotten on you.
——————————————————————————
His pants were getting tighter by the second it seemed. You were so close to him, he couldn’t help it. Your scent filled the air. Dabi had spilled his liquor on your shirt, allowing some of it to become transparent. He couldn’t help but look, thank god “father” was covering his face.
He quickly got up after he had memorized that scene, sprinting back to his room before locking the door and palming his erection, biting his lip as he leaned against the door. Moving his hand down to his pants, he pulled them down. Pre had already stained his clothes unfortunately, but he didn’t care about that right now.
He could hear you yelling at Dabi behind the door. Normally, he’d be terrified that you’d yell at him next, but this was a special case. He started stroking his cock, smearing pre over his lower half. His lip had started to bleed due to the pressure he put it on in an attempt to muffle his groans.
God, he couldn’t get enough. Your shirt was transparent, just enough to the point where he could see your bra. Some had gotten on your thighs, and some was on your face. He could’ve cleaned you off if you would let him, but you were to busy with Dabi to pay attention to him. Oh what he’d give to see your bra on the floor in his bedroom.
He came in his hand, his seed dripping onto the floor, earning a drawn out moan from him. The noise had stopped, and he started panicking. What if you hear him? What would you do if you did? Surely you’d humiliate him in front of everyone. Everything seemed to stop. His head was spinning, and his heart seemed to jump out of his chest.
A few minutes later, you slammed your door shut. That’s all it took for him to calm down.
——————————————————————————
After about a month, Shigaraki had warmed up to you. He let you in his room. He had a tall bookshelf in the corner, filled with mangas from multiple different anime’s on one shelf, and video games on the next. There were clothes on the floor, but you expected there to be. The only clean areas were his bed, his computer, and his couch. The rest was either covered in energy drink cans or clothes, most likely both.
He sat down on his couch, motioning for you to sit next to him. He started up a movie as you curled up into your hoodie, the room was colder than you’d expected. After about 5 minutes of shivering, you moved closer to him, curling up in his lap, trying to warm up.
What an unfortunate spot for you to be.
He tried to move you, but every time he repositioned you, you ended up back on the same spot, right on his hardening cock. You already assumed that whatever was poking you was a key or a pocket knife.
Every time you moved, your ass rubbed against his cock. He had to bite his lip to stop himself from moaning in your ear. He wasn’t complaining, but it wasn’t exactly the best thing that could happen right now. How would you react if you found out your boss had a thing for you, getting to the point where he gets hard just thinking about you? You’d call him a creep, wouldn’t you?
You only noticed when you felt something wet against you. You got out of his lap and took off your skirt to inspect the wet spot. That only made his throbbing erection worse. His cock was painfully hard, the last thing he needed was for you to humiliate him, even if it was only you two.
Looking down at him sitting on the couch, you finally noticed the tent in his pants. He couldn’t even look at you, he just sat there, waiting for you to insult him.
“I’m sorry... it just happened. I tried to move you! I swear! It’s not my fault...” he mumbled, letting his hair cover his face so he didn’t have to look at you.
Imagine the surprise on his face when you kissed him.
He wasted no time in forcing your mouth open for his tongue. Immediately, he started groping anywhere he could reach, his hands slipping under your hoodie. You tried to pull away to breathe, but he didn’t let you, holding your head in place, still trying to get a taste of you.
He pulled away, eagerly taking off your clothes, only leaving you in your underwear, before doing the same. He pulled you on his lap, biting your neck to leave proof that he was there, that he had you, even for a few minutes. His grip on you tightened, he didn’t want this to be the last time.
Your blindfold was still on, that’s the one thing he didn’t try to take off. You slowly removed it, dropping it on the floor as he picked you up and carried you to the bed. His eyes tearing up a little bit from the thought of you leaving. He didn’t even realize you took your blindfold off.
He didn’t find disgust when he looked into them, most people would have despised him, calling him a creep and a pervert. You didn’t seem to care that he was staring at you. All he found was soft, e/c eyes staring back into his. It made his heart stop, he could get lost in your eyes for hours.
He reached behind you to unclip your bra. He couldn’t believe you didn’t push him away, everyone else would have. His chuckle made your eyes glow more than they already did, a small smile appearing on your face, barely noticeable from where he was.
You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him back into a heated kiss, his hands exploring your thighs as you let him have you. He took in every scent, every sound, every movement, anything that had to do with you. He loved it, it made his heart ache thinking it would end.
He moved one of your hands to his member, his precum staining his boxers. You pulled away and kissed his jaw, squeezing his cock through his boxers, earning a yelp from him as he started thrusting his hips into your touch.
You removed his boxers, revealing his throbbing member. It definitely wasn’t small, and you weren’t sure how it’d fit. Tomura’s a fairly skinny guy, but his cock was the opposite. Long and thick, the head of it covered in his precum, already covering your hand.
He groaned as you moved your hand up and down it, his eyes closing as he threw his head back. It felt so good to have a girl touch him so intimately, especially you. He forced your head down, your lips just an inch away from the leaking head of his cock.
His breathing picked up as he pushed your head down on his cock. God, you felt good. He started thrusting into your mouth, giving you no time to adjust. It wasn’t bad, not at all, the only thing you could complain about was your jaw starting to hurt.
It didn’t take him long to finish. He pulled your head back before throwing you back against the bed. His hands found their way to your wrists, pinning them above your head. You looked so pretty with his cum on you, he couldn’t resist taking a picture!
As you tried to get comfortable, he slid his hand under your underwear, making you freeze.
“Damn, you really are a slut, aren’t you?” He said, a small chuckle following not long after as he shoved a finger inside, your whimpers only fueling him.
“It would be a shame to let you go, wouldn’t it? You’d make such a good little pet, just for me...” he said, his voice low and husky as he leaned against your ear.
Pushing two fingers into you, he rubbed your clit with his thumb, cherishing every noise you made, memorizing every moan and whine that came out of your mouth. Every little movement, every little sound, he had memorized, just in case this was the only time, in case you actually grew brain cells and realized what was going on.
He knelt down, his face eye-level with your dripping little cunt. He pulled his fingers out and licked them, cherishing your taste. Slowly, he pushed his tongue in, letting you get used to the feeling before lapping at your walls.
His hands grabbed your thighs, keeping you from closing your legs around his head as he continued his assault. With every lick, he moaned shamelessly against your clit. Your lewd noises only fueled him as he pulled you closer to him.
“C’mon little slut, I’m waiting. It’s alright, go ahead and let yourself go, I won’t complain.” He said, his smirk growing as he lowered his head again, hands gripping your thighs harder.
He licked up every drop of your cum, whether it was on his bed or on you. He got up, immediately pinning your arms as he crawled on top of you. He lowered his head to bite your neck, more proof that he was there, and proof that it had actually happened.
He pulled your hips up to meet his own, lining ha cock against your entrance as he pushed the tip in. He let you adjust to just his tip before he slammed the rest of his member into you. Your pleas for him to slow down falling on deaf ears as he pounded into your tight little cunt.
“Good girl, you’re taking me so well! I’ll break you slowly, sound good? I’m sure you’ll be fine. You were already so fucking wet for me, weren’t you? You like being held by your boss, don’t you? C’mon little slut, let me hear how good I make you feel, it’s just us!” He whispered in your ear, his pace never ceasing.
You couldn’t even speak, only managing to get one or two words out before getting cut off by your own noises. All you could do was nod, but that seemed to get the message through.
He sped up, chasing his own release as he played with your thighs, kneading the soft skin on one before moving his hand back to your hips.
“That’s it baby, just like that! You’re doing so well! It’d be a shame to stop now, but I don’t think you want me to.”
He finished with a groan, taking his cock out of your swollen cunt, letting both of your juices leak out before taking a picture. He’d have material for weeks now.
He laid down next to you, slipping on your hoodie for you before pressing his chest against your back. His arms found their way around your waist. He buried his face into the crook of your neck, leaving gentle kisses along your collarbone and up your neck.
“You won’t leave me... right?” He asked, his voice quiet and weak as he spoke, barely audible at all.
“Of course not shig! Why would you think that? Is something wrong?” You asked, your voice stained with concern. All he did in response was shake his head.
——————————————————————————
“What’s wrong with him!” You shouted, unaware that Tomura was behind the door, waiting with food he had gotten for you. “He just won’t leave me alone Toga, what’d I even do? He’s persistent, and its getting on my nerves.” You said, his heart broke into a million pieces.
This wasn’t you, it couldn’t be. It was just one of twice’s clones, it had to be! There was no way his loving girlfriend would say anything like that about him... right?
“You could just tell shig doll.” Dabi spoke up, his figure looming over yours as he moved to the door. “I’m sure he wouldn’t mind taking care of it, just one less asshat for both of you.”
“He’s busy, and every time I try to talk to him, he gets dragged away by someone. So tell me, how am I supposed to do that? He’s barely ever alone with me anyway.” You said, clearly annoyed, though it did help you to know Dabi at least thought about a solution for you. Guess he did care at least some.
Toga stood in silence as Shigaraki tried to process what he had heard. Your food was getting cold by the time he realized it wasn’t about him. Slowly, he waited for a description, but he never got one.
Instead, he followed you for the day. Waiting for this so called “asshat” to approach you. So far, everyone that had approached you had a reason, whether it was to talk about an upcoming mission or to ask about your relationship.
Just as he was leaving for a meeting, that little son of a bitch had showed up. He was being really touchy with you, grabbing you from behind and talking to you like you were old pals. It made Tomura’s blood boil.
“Y/N! We’re late, let’s go.” He shouted, just looking for some excuse to get you away from him.
The second you were within his reach, he grabbed you. Quickly biting your neck before licking the wound. He pampered you with kisses, holding you tightly against him. Your face might as well be the color red itself. He only stopped to glare at the other male, who was watching in disbelief, before going back to you.
——————————————————————————
He always had you next to him from then on, whether it was just for a quick meeting or a conversation with Re-destro. The only exception was missions, you weren’t even allowed to go anywhere outside of the base without him or one of the original league members, maybe even Re-destro or Trumpet if he was in a good mood.
There were days he’d clear his schedule just so he could stay in bed with you for an extra few hours before you woke up.
When he’d leave, there would always be a pile of his clothes on his gaming chair for you. He’d gotten you shoes to match his. He let you paint his nails once or twice before as well. He’d walk around the base with his hands on display, clearly taking pride in them, all because it was done by you. Toga would laugh with Dabi, twice would argue with himself about whether it was cute or not, and the other males would ignore it.
Every night, he’d usually come back to his room with you sleeping in his bed. On rare occasions when you couldn’t sleep, you’d curl up in his lap and sleep. He’d have to carry you back to his room from his spot in meetings, kissing your forehead before going back to reviewing mission plans.
On rare occasions that you were awake, you’d leave food on the bedside table for him in case he got back before you. Little stickers would be placed on the side of the plate, almost always left by toga or twice. You had given up on taking them off, for every time you’d remove one, another one would show up in the same spot.
The first time you had gotten your period, he freaked out. You were mad at him and he didn’t even know why! He thought he fucked up, that you’d break up with him the second you calmed down. Eventually, Toga explained it to him. She would give him small snacks for him to leave next to you. Rings, roses, necklaces, and food would be left as peace offerings. If you needed anything he’d get it, whether you asked for it or not. He did find it cute when you’d sit in the pile of clothes he had worn for the day in one of his hoodies, but you’d never let him actually put them back on.
You’d both spend hours trying out games. He bought you your own controller and wrote your name on it. The second anyone would touch it, he’d throw the nearest object at them, whether it was a chair or a pen.
You’d walk around the base in his clothes, which were clearly too big on you. Sometimes you’d even attempt to match him. You’d bandage your limbs and slip on some of his clothes in order to look like him. The only difference in clothing was your blindfold and “father”. He’ll drag you around and show you off for the whole day. Don’t complain please, it makes him happy when you act like it’s fun, even if it isn’t.
The only time either of you would take off your face covering was when you two were alone. Every time, he’d get lost in your eyes as you held his hand. Artist gloves were worn every time, just in case. He couldn’t get enough of you. Every detail, every noise, and every movement was memorized.
He was changing the whole world for you, whether he admits it or not.

I really don’t like how it turned out but it’s been in my drafts for a long time

Warning! This post contains spoilers up to chapter 170 of Tsubasa (and Chapter 71 of xxxHolic). Please skip this if you have not read that far.
Please also make no comments about what happens after that point in either manga.

SO here is the other splash image that really stuck out to me:
Tumblr media
This time not because of the Seresu arc but because of how the Infinity arc itself ends.
Here's the link to the original post the image is from if you'd like the full context, but the particular quote from that post I want to use as a reference is here:
"Syaoran also sits on the throne - which as far as I can tell, isn’t his. ... The only one ever wearing the crown they’re all wearing [on their clothes] is Sakura. Now, does it make sense that Syaoran has usurped her throne? Heck yeah! He’s stolen everything from her. He’s stolen her journey (they’re following him now, always a step behind), he’s stolen her feathers, and he’s stolen the person she’s in love with."
Where I was kind of on the right track but couldn't have possibly guessed what all the chess imagery was ultimately feeding into. Looking back now the initial liveblogs for all of these Chess-related splash images are such a big mix of different iconography, so it’s very fun reading through all my old guesses back then. I think I did a really good job of trying to decipher some of it, especially the Cinderella and Snow White imagery in Chapter 140, but the Chess was a bit trickier.
Which, like, understandable, because the chess game that was happening in the chapters was stressful as heck and did not end well, but there is a nice conclusion to it with this image which is easier to read now - especially in regards to Sakura. Because it's made very clear to the viewer that the symbol of the Queen piece is in reference to her; both in these splash images (where she wears the crown at one point, and every character wears the symbol in ways that reflect their allegiance to her) and in the plotline, where she functions as the Queen of the battles taking place. Here is another good example of the symbol being used for Sakura with it right there on her throne, and the two Syaoran's wearing the symbol in smaller ways to represent their relationship to her. But with that all in mind? I had no idea what it was really getting at with Syaoran on Sakura's throne here.
BUT NOW I DO.
If you go back to that example I just gave with Sakura sitting on her throne? It's a different throne! It still makes it very clear that she's undeniably the Queen piece, with the symbol in gold actually being a key part of the throne itself.
And the throne Syaoran sits on? It has the crown symbol as part of the decoration, but it's not representing him, it's just a small symbol to show that matches Sakura's throne. This throne is his own.
He's the King piece.
(And, important distinction; the throne is not Lava Lamp's, but our original plotline Syaoran who is now in Autopilot mode.)
This wouldn't have occurred to me the first time through because I was focused so much on what this might mean for Sakura, and how she related to everyone else, but the way the Infinity Arc ends really hammers this home. After all, Sakura is the mastermind in this arc - everything that happens is according to her plan. She's not playing chess just during the literal chess matches, but during the entire plotline, moving every character and circumstance into place to enact her final plan; to activate both Chi's at once, absorb both their feather's, and trigger Fai's curse - resulting in her pseudo (if purely physical) death. But like we see in the plotline, this isn't a loss - it's a win. It's exactly how she planned things to unfold, and it will lead her to winning the game.
Just in case anyone isn't familiar, in Chess the queen is the most powerful piece capable of the widest variety of moves - but the queen is not the endgame goal. You can lose the queen piece in any game and (besides losing a powerful piece) it's not the end of the world. You can still win the game without the queen piece. It's the King piece that's the Win/Loss condition. The King is the piece you have to keep safe at all costs, even if you lose other pieces in the process. The second the King dies, the match is over. You've lost.
And this matches exactly how Sakura played the series events. She was the Queen in control of every move, and Syaoran was the Win condition she was focused on. She foresaw Fai killing Syaoran in the future - which, for her, is the Losing Scenario. She planned everything to avoid this, and she succeeded! She lost the Queen piece (ie, her physical body) but won the ultimate goal of keeping the King safe. She won the 3D future chess game that she was playing by herself, and positioned herself in the place that would have the most benefit for the victory at the end. (Which I still haven't seen, but she was VERY confident about this having a better result than Fai killing Syaoran.)
I'm also super happy that this ties in really well with the fairy tale allusions I talked about back in Chapter 140, but in ways I wasn't aware of back then either.
I talked about Snow White and how the apple (that shows up in a lot of the splash images in Infinity) may have been referring to Sakura's tendency to sleep a lot. What I didn't realise was that Sakura was essentially about to pull the Big Brain Snow White maneuver on herself to ultimately win her chess game. While in Snow White the poison apple is a trap, here Sakura sprung the trap intentionally. Fai is the apple she bit into deliberately - she arranged it so that killed her body, breaking his own curse, and sent her to the World of Dreams (and thus, she is asleep) which also placed her in a Glass Coffin (aka The Jam Jar of Dreams - Im sorry I have no memory of what it's really called). So the Snow White metaphor is now complete.
But also Cinderella! In the image for 140 Sakura is trying on a glass slipper - so she's Cinderella figure as well. But at this point in the plot the clock hadn't struck midnight just yet - like Cinderella, Sakura knew the exact time limit she had to work with, and for her the timing had to be PRECISE. She spent all of Infinity stressed out of her mind about this plan she couldn't trust anyone else with, knowing full well that if she missed the window even slightly it would ruin absolutely everything and they would all lose. Which, funnily enough, makes Yuuko the fairy godmother, since she provided Sakura with the magic she needed to make her plan happen (via wishes). This also means that Fai stabbing her with the sword is the exact moment the clock struck twelve - and like the spell finishing, Sakura could finally drop the act and explain what she had done, even as all the magic disappeared (ie, her luck being traded away). There's even a detransformation sequence of a sort, with her body and soul going in two different directions. But either way, the Cinderella metaphor is also complete!
And with all that done the last part I want to talk about is back in the image of Syaoran on the throne. He's framed on either side with the curtains that portray the chess board, and they're tied back by chains with him in the very centre. He is visually chained to the board - which, like, of course he is. With his Autopilot programming in place he's essentially just a chess piece without any will of his own - a winning piece, for sure, but he's still being moved around without his choice. He's playing the game on auto, making the moves that will lead him to the winning gambit, but without his individual soul he has no choice but to keep playing until the game is over. The goal he's working towards isn't even his - it's Evil Wolverine's. So in the same way that everyone else was a chess piece in Sakura's strategy (if, sort of, willingly), including Sakura herself, Syaoran is a piece being moved around in Evil Wolverine's favour - though if he dies, it's game over for Sakura's side as well.
I'm unclear if Syaoran dying would be a game over scenario for Evil Wolverine, but at the very least it would end the game he is currently playing.
So, in the hyper future 3D chess game that Sakura was playing by herself she couldn't properly win the game for her side by taking out Syaoran because he's her king piece too. Syaoran is the piece at the centre of everything, and will be the key to winning the game for either side. We just have to wait and see if Sakura's gambit will pay off in the way she thinks it will.

Anime I Watched This Summer
Summer 2020 has officially come to a close. It’s fall in Animal Crossing and the trees are beginning to turn. Much like quarantine, I spent a lot of my free time watching anime when I wasn’t stressing over starting college. Now that the school year has begun, I thought it would be nice to reflect on everything I’ve watched!
These Anime were seen between 6/14 - 8/31 (my Birthday!) and are listed in chronological order.
They will be rated on a 1-10 scale; 1 meaning complete garbage, 10 meaning masterpiece. I will offer my thoughts on what I did/didn't like about each show!
1. Bakemono no Ko - 8/10
Tumblr media
This was such a great way to start out the summer! I love the dynamic between Kumatetsu and Ren. Overall its a little cliche, but it’s also very wholesome. It’s by the same studio that made Wolf Children (which I loved!). so I knew it was going to be good. My favorite aspect of this movie was its backgrounds and world building!
2. Wan Sheng Jie - 9/10
Tumblr media
Oh my gosh! I know that this is technically a donghua, but its on MAL, so it counts. This show quickly became my favorite slice of life of all time. I adore the art style and all of the characters. The comedy, plot, and design blends so well together. Everything in Wan Sheng Jie feels warm and comfy. It’s also confirmed for a second season! After seeing its cliff hanger ending, I’m so anxious for what comes next!
3. Dororo - 7/10
Tumblr media
I’ll be honest, I’m a sucker for studio MAPPA. I really liked the historical aspects of Dororo. From the outfits to the ways characters behave, its grounded in the constraints of feudal Japan. I would have given this show a higher score if it was a little more grounded in science. I feel like more time should’ve been given to the demons and antagonists of the show. Our MC was so over powered, which made the final fights of the series more lack-luster. I think its less of the anime’s fault and more because the original source material is from the 60s. That being said, I loved this show! It was cute and action packed. Though it isn’t perfect, it holds its own.
4. Bungou Stray Dogs - 5/10
Tumblr media
The concepts and action are misconstrued in Bungou Stary Dogs. This is one of those shows that I chose to watch because it was all over Tumblr. The powers themselves are cool, but I can’t understand why this series is so praised. At it’s core its predictable and basic. The fights seemed low stakes and low energy. None of the humor really felt like it belonged. It tried too hard to be something it isn’t. I don’t think I’ll watch beyond this first season.
5. Kami no Tou - 4.5/10
Tumblr media
First off, fuck Rachel, me and my homies hate Rachel. I really really had high hopes for Tower of God. It paves the way for Webtoon adaptations in the future. Its such a shame that this adaptation SUCKED. I have not read the source material, I’m going solely based on the anime. It wasn’t good? It was horrible. I hate Bam, I hate Rachel. I think all the characters expect Rak were awful. Please don’t make a season 2. Please. If you’re interesting in Tower of God, just read the webtoon.
6. Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun - 7/10
Tumblr media
Shoujo anime is my guilty pleasure. I especially liked the way Gekkan Shoujo tackled Sakura and Nozaki’s relationship. Besides just the main characters, even the side characters were enjoyable! It was a fun and creative show. My only complaint is how dense Nozaki is, but I also absolutely love that part of him.
7. Jojo no Kimyou no Bouken (Parts 1-2) - 6.5/10
Tumblr media
Jojo is not the saving grace of shounen anime. It isn’t something super revolutionary and it certainly will never be a 10/10. Part 1 was so slow and boring. Jonathan was just mediocre at best. I definitely liked Joseph a LOT more than Jonathan. Part 2 overall was much easier to watch than part 1. The fights are good, but there’s just something about Jojo that I can’t get behind. Although I’m completely bashing this series, I’m going to keep watching it. At this point, I wanna know what a stand is.
8. Clannad - 5.5/10
Tumblr media
I was expecting Clannad to be sad, but instead I got a cute, slice of life, romance. It wasn’t unenjoyable, but it was also a pretty slow-burning show. I loved watching Nagisa and Okazaki slowly fall in love with each other. It was funny at times and sad at other points. I am currently watching Clannad: After Story (which I’ve heard is heartbreaking), so I’m hoping to get some catharsis out of that.
9. Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai...  - 6/10
Tumblr media
This show is only 12 episodes, and yet it still has filler episodes for some reason? I’m a person who doesn’t typically watch isekai because the genre is so over done. However, when it’s done in a very specific way it’s really fun to watch! This show was definitely a lot of fun, it’s also cute and has so many interesting character-character interactions. The ending is painfully cliche, but I think it adds to this shows charm.
10. Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen  - 8/10
Tumblr media
I loved Love is War so much! I love their weird romantic dynamic. I love the characters, and I love the animation. It’s over the top and executes it humor masterfully. The entire show fills you with anticipation for the two main characters. Kaguya is my favorite character. Although I haven’t seen season two yet, I most certainly will! I’m so upset I hadn’t seen this show sooner.
11. Great Pretender - 8.5/10
Tumblr media
This show is so colorful and bubbly. The animation is so smooth and they are able to tackle so many different kinds of things given its plot. The whole show itself just feels like summertime. It came out not to long ago, so some people may not be familiar with it. On top of the show itself, the music is great, with a Jazzy OP and and ED that features Freddie Mercury
12. Steins;Gate 0 - 8/10
Tumblr media
I loved the original Stein;Gate so much! So it’s no surprise how much I liked the second season. It builds significantly off the first season in a sort of “off shot” OVA kind of way. The events of Steins;Gate 0 don’t actually happen, but that doesn’t stop it from being meaningful. The big “twist” was predictable and a bit of a let down, but I still enjoyed this. Granted, I’m bias.
13. Seishun Buta Yarou wa Yumemiru Shoujo no Yume wo Minai - 9.5/10
Tumblr media
I sobbed. So much. This movie was phenomenal, it was such a trip. Having watched the original series, this tore my heart apart. It gets a high score for being able to take the characters I love and creating a wonderfully emotional experience. If you haven’t seen Bunny Girl Senpai, please watch it, and then watch this movie. You won’t regret it!
14. Hotaru no Haka - 6/10
Tumblr media
Grave of the Fireflies made me stop watching anime for a while. Studio Ghibli created something grim, something that leaves the viewers feeling hollow. Its a movie about WWII from Japan’s perspective. As an American, all I could feel while watching this was immense guilt. I will say though, that some of the movies main plot could have easily been prevented if the main character had swallowed his pride. His younger sister was also my least favorite character. I get that she’s a kid and that kids are fussy, but you would think that during wartime, she’d be more understanding and at least try to eat the things she dislikes.
15. Yagate Kimi ni Naru - 9/10
Tumblr media
This was a great way to end the summer. This is more that just GL romance, its a love story. Its about growing up and learning to understand your feelings. I related to Yuu so much, which made this more emotional than I expected. It’s really unlike another romance anime I’ve seen. I hope it gets confirmed for a second season. If not, I’ll be reading the manga.
Seasonal Shows: (Things that are still airing as of 9/5/2020)
1. The God of High School  7.5/10
Tumblr media
Another thing done by studio MAPPA. Are you surprised? I absolutely love the action in GoH. The plot however, is all over the place. The story seems fragmented and hard to follow. Like Tower of God, it was poorly adapted. I’m giving it such a high score, because it’s SO much more enjoyable then Tower of God.
2. Enen no Shouboutai: Ni no Shou - 4/10
Tumblr media
My thoughts on season 2 are about the same as my thoughts on season 1. The only difference is that this season has more Jojo references. I’ve rated it lower because its so repetitive. I’m so sick of watching it, but I’ve got to see it through the bitter end.
3. Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season - 8.5/10
Tumblr media
All I’m going to say about Re:Zero is that I love it. I can’t give an accurate review of it because I’ve been hyping this season since it was announced. If you’re into non-typical isekai, watch Re:Zero, its so enjoyable!
