god I fucken love rocks somuch!!!!!!!!!! and minerals and crystals and glass and lava and magma and geological formations and mountains and hills and rocks rocks rocks!!!!!!!! yeah!!!! rocks rock hell yeah!!! wahoo!!! yipee!!! and salts and ice and snow and sand and metamorphic rocks and ignious rocks and rocks make me so fukin happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! myeah!!!! and i want more rocks to add to the collection and i want more space to show more rocks becaus the more rocks the better and rocks! also god please add more rocks in the next update and also give them to meeeeeeeeeeee also make a meteorite fall near my house so i can get it and add to the collection pleasepleasplepalspleaplspelapleplaslapelpslpaleplspaleplsp rock are so cool and some are so hot and sexy and im going to marry a rock and minrals yeah!!!!!!!!

Y'all.

There's people in my neighborhood installing fiber optic internet for schools (I think?) and they've been digging up everyone's yards. TODAY, I decided to check out three of the holes in my yard, and the following rocks were the result :3

I always find the two on the top, but in pieces. They crumble so easily! These ones are solid though, which I've never seen. I have no idea what the one on the bottom left is, so I'mma take it to the rock man so he can tell me what the hell it is. The bottom right is INTERESTING. When I was washing off the rocks in the driveway, this dude was BUBBLING. I /think/ that makes it a limestone, but it feels like a type of sandstone?? I'm not entirely sure and my rock book isn't being very helpful.

The second picture is what I believe to be a type of quartz, but I like it because it's a lil puzzle!!!! I found each piece individually, and put them together on a whim haha.

The THIRD picture… Y'all. These. Are FOSSILS. Specifically, they're baculite fossils! The area I live in is full of these dudes, because my area of my world was underwater when they were alive. So they were EVERYWHERE, just like antelope and prarie dogs are all over our area today.

Here's a bonus picture of me in one of the holes 😁 My mom wanted one of the rocks on the wall of the hole, so I got in and started hammering at it LOL. I'm squatting here, it isn't that deep.

Literally, this was the best day. I've wanted to straight up dig holes in my yard for rocks my ENTIRE life. If anyone thought I wasn't gonna take advantage of this situation... I'm so freakin happy lol. It's taking all of my self control not to explore the neighbors' holes and dirt piles.

How do different rocks taste? Which is your favorite non edible rock to put in your mouth?

Almost all rocks are edible so we can get that straight right away (with love)

I guess an important disclaimer would be that I am not a "classically trained" geologlist

However I am mentally ill, if a rock looks a certain color or type of way after I bring it how and clean it and some observations I will taste the rock

You can tell alot about a specimen if your tastes are strong enough, you can tell the difference between a calcium rich or magnesium or sulfer rich through smell after getting it wet most times but for some more common quartz they have distanct and different flavors than can help you identify the actual crystalline compounds

My brother and I got a rock advent calendar to share!!!

These are the ones I got so far. The first day I got a big sodalite. (My brother got amazonite yesterday that’s roughly the same size)

Today I got a little baby! It’s red agate I think

My favourite and largest specimen, a chunk of jasper from “Meridian”, second is my piece of the “bulwark”(gifted by my Kotallo fiance) and last one a piece of granite from the “All-Mother Mountain” 😁

I scoured the maps to match up real world locations for these and hope to add more.

I have a deeply seated love for birds that I'm not sure where it comes from!

If anyone wants to get into bird watching/identification "merlin" is an incredible app run by the Cornell lab. You can use it multiple ways, but my personal favorite is you can use it to listen to bird songs, and it will tell you what the most likely bird that is making the call!

We have a mockingbird that lives on top of our chimney they have specific calls to mockingbird but also the app will identify all the other birds that the mockingbird pretends to be.

I just think that's neat idk sorry if this wasn't interesting enough lol

I am also obsessed head over heals with the corvids of my back yard. We have ravens, crows, and scrub Jay's they loveeeeee peanuts so if you want to get into feeding local birds I would recommend it.

Also squirrels deserve love, we have been having wild bunnies in our backyard and a possum the other night.

The thing I love about rocks is holding them looking at them, smooth, rough, sharp, jagged, metamorphic, sedimentary, igneous they are all great and even the smallest pebble can tell the grandest adventure about how it was once a boulde.

I was always the kid in school who took bugs out of classrooms and would get legitimately upset if anyone killed the bug/spide/other many legged friend instead of just moving them outside.

Bugs were here before us they will be here long after, we are not the strangers to them. The sterile boxes with florescent lights are though.
