Hello

I wanted to make a little introduction post as my first post here since I know that there was quite a bit of a bot issue in the past, and possibly still is to this day, so I do want to say that I am not a bot XD

I will soon add photos to my profile, but I wanted to do this post first.

I used to be here before, I had several blogs but the most known one was probably my J-Rock blog posting mostly BUCK-TICK and Der Zibet. That old account was nyacchan-3. I also used to have a dream diary on here for those who remember. Some of you might also know me from AO3 as Nyacchan, but I have changed my name there to Nameless_Me. I might change this name again in the future and I might also change my Tumblr name cause I couldn’t really come up with anything so I picked a song title and added my fave number to it. For this new account I will be posting J-Rock again, but maybe also some random things now and then, like reblogging things I come across and like.

Also, since I left social media I left my Discord name on my AO3 profile, yet I forgot about that after a while. I recently got 3 friend invites on Discord from strangers, and since I had forgotten my name was out there I assumed they were bots and denied the requests. If it was you, I am sorry and feel free to now message me here instead.

As I said earlier, I deleted all my social media earlier this year as the constant fandom wars really got on my nerves. The Internet is not a fun place when all you see is people constantly bitching at each other. I wasn’t planning to come back until at least September 2025, but since Issay’s recent passing I have decided to come back early as the memories of him are most easily found on social media. I want to just scroll through places, come across random photos, gifs and videos of him and enjoy the amazing work he has left us with, to remember the amazing person he used to be.

I know I have been complaining a lot about fandoms and fans in the past but I want to let that go now. I left social media to calm down and to… try to become a better person. I don’t want to have anything to do with any drama, I am just here to have a good time and to share the love for my favorite artists.

I plan to post these opinions of 1 album per day starting with Der Zibet, as I have been listening to Issay’s work almost non stop since he passed away. Listening to his voice isn’t as easy as it used to be, but I just want to enjoy his amazing voice and remember how much I loved him and always will love him. I don’t want to avoid his work.

Well, I’ll be right back with my opinions. It’s nice to be back and I hope we can all behave and get along now. I guarantee I won’t be causing any trouble :)

You’re weird. I have literally never interacted with a single person on this app. After being on here now for about 10 years, never have I come across such demanding and entitled people but in these anime and K-POP fandoms. Everyone’s account is THEIR blog! Who are you to tell people how to use their blog and what for in order for them to enjoy your content?? It is not your right to try and force people out of their comfort zones for your benefit. Blocking silent readers because it bothers you literally makes no sense when they are “fans” too. All I can imagine is you acting like a tyrant child *pouting* crosses arms and stomps foot, “Hmmph! Their not interacting with and boosting my blog the way I want them to!” LOL the way it actually makes me laugh… Likes aren’t good enough for you??? If someone likes the fic that means THEY LIKE IT dummy. Silent readers are silent for a reason I don’t want anyone’s attention on me what so over. So, the least I can do to show my appreciation is through a like and if I REALLY like you I’ll follow your blog. A lot of people feel the same way everywhere on the internet not just Tumblr. It just seems to me you’re pissed because you want more attention because “I feel I work so hard on these fics!” You feel like you deserve more attention, but you won’t be getting it from us. Also, it shouldn’t matter that other people like your writings. Do you like it? Is it good enough to you? Good. Then that is all that matters. People have gotten way to needy for validation the only person’s approval you need is your own. Just admit you want more attention because with your attitude… seems like you don’t do it because you love writing… just seems like you like and wish for the attention that comes with it. Anyways, and since I do still like your writings (Not particularly your personality, thank goodness that has nothing to do with your writings.) I’ll continue to enjoy through Google!😘❤️

L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves (chars you’re neutral on are fair game, as are chars you dislike)

All right, let’s go with Kitty for this one. One aspect of her character I genuinely like is her interest in weird, gory things. I think the moment she became fascinated with Maddocks’s foot (or lack thereof) was the first time I could truly relate to her. That could have been me, 100 %, and I’m sure everyone around me reacted the way the other ghosts did when I told them about that one time I dissected mummified bat skulls under a microscope. So yeah, I love this part of Kitty's character.

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice)

1. More positivity rather than discourse. Every now and then people post about ships or characters they dislike, and I just wish rather than complaining about why there’s so much content for them, they’d use that energy to support the creators who actually make the content they want to see. There’s no better way to encourage a writer / artist / gifmaker than to leave them feedback. Which brings me to point 2.

2. More interaction with fics, art and gifsets. Likes are all well and good but it's reblogs that get works seen and comments that motivate creators to make more. Fandom thrives on interaction so I'd like to encourage everyone to reblog instead of like something and leave at least a little heart or random thought in the tags of the fic, art or gifset to let the creator know they liked it.

3. More gen fics. Granted, I don’t read many fics because I'm always afraid of other people’s ideas influencing my own writing but I get the impression that a lot of Ghosts fics focus on romance (some my own included) and I’d love to see more found family type stories that focus on friendships.

P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas)

I always struggle with inventing AUs because Coffee Shop AUs and the like don’t really do it for me. For me, an AU only works if it retains at least some of the core elements of the show, and that makes it quite difficult to come up with an AU for something like Ghosts.

But I have recently thought about the potential of a Primeval AU. If you’re unfamiliar with the show, it’s about prehistoric animals wandering into modern time through so-called anomalies. So there's dinosaurs and mammoths roaming the streets, but every now and then humans from the past appear in the present as well. And that’s where our beloved ghosts would come in:

Fanny still gets pushed out of a window by George but instead of landing on the hard ground, she falls through an anomaly and lands in a lake

after Thomas gets shot he staggers through an anomaly and survives thanks to modern medicine

the arrow that hits Pat vanishes through an anomaly before it can reach him. Pat ushers the kids into the bus before he investigates the sparkly thing and gets lost in time

Robin runs from the bear straight into modern Britain

Mary flees into an anomaly when she tries to run away from the witch hunters

Humphrey's anomaly opens below him when he comes out of his hiding place

Julian vanishes from his time while hiding in someone else's bedroom closet - half-naked, of course

Kitty probably went through an anomaly while playing hide and seek

The Captain stumbles upon an anomaly during maneuvers and checks it out (there might just be a possibility Havers does the same in Africa and the two of them to meet again in the future)

the Plague Ghosts cause quite a ruckus when they show up in modern times because, well, they’re infected with the plague. By the time Jemima arrives a few months later, safety measures for this sort of thing have been implemented

Alison and Mike still inherit Button House in this AU. When the government attempts to take the house from them because they need a place for all these misplaced people that’s far away from everywhere else, they strike a deal with them: the Coopers get to keep the house and the government pays them to let the people stay, thus enabling them to repair it

at some point, the government brings them a mammoth - a literal mammoth. Robin is over the moon. Alison and Mike are not. Fanny hopes the next animal will be a sabre-toothed cat.

Hi! I'm Joana, aka Mysty, aka a few other names depending on where you know me online! I'm a 32-year-old woman with ADHD and chronic pain, among other things, and I need help.

For almost six years I've worked at the same fast food restaurant, and even during lockdown, I got mostly full-time hours and was able to sustain myself on this job as the minimum wage in my state is higher than average and I have a sister who I live with and split bills with.

Well, back in September, I had a meltdown due to stress. Since then, I've been fighting with the store to actually cut down my hours a little so I could avoid both the extremely stressful dinner shift and being there when my ADHD medication wears off. At first I thought the store manager understood because I got the slightly shorter shifts I had requested. And then they went right back to scheduling me how they were. When I tried to talk about it, the store manager gaslit me, trying to tell me I had never said I wanted the reduced hours as my permanent schedule, even though I had a note on my phone I had written so I would be prepared with what to say when I spoke with her, timestamped for that September.

And now, because I spoke up, they've pretty much slashed both mine and my sister's hours to practically nothing. In this month of January, I've averaged between seven and thirteen hours, and my sister's been about the same. We have bills to pay! We have rent, phone, internet, groceries, everything that an adult is expected to have.

So here's where you can help me. I have a few things to present to you guys.

I think out of all characters, albedo matches your energy quite well. He likes to be alone most of the time, but doesn't despise chatting too.

I could imagine how much he would appreciate you after creating a strong bond with you. Since they're isn't that much people that enjoys being around him too long. And maybe also because he doesn't wish to hurt anyone so he pushes them away from him.

I can see that it would happen to you too at first, as you two started to talk more and get to know each other better, he would push you away and try to avoid you, assuming that its for the best. But you probably wouldn't feel nice about that and will try to convince him through that thought. After Albedo finally feels at ease about that certain feeling then it wouldn't be a problem.

Having a relationship with Albedo would be comfortable but not less amusing. He is an alchemist after all, he does a lot of experiments and he's always eager for you to join him in assisting. Maybe the two of you would even travel around teyvat to get some resources. Walking around different places, talking to him and laugh around tiny things that caught your amusement , or maybe just lying down in the field and look at flowers that somehow seems new to you in every place.

Love isn't in Albedo's best area, so he really doesn't know what to say and what to do to express his love to you. And so i assume his love language would be Acts of Service or Gift giving. Though he doesn't know what to say or do, he would try his best to learn about it. He would also gift you some of his experiment results to you, things that he thought you might like or enjoy.

Aka, I finally realized that i didn't make an intro yet, so I'll make one now. (Below the cut because I dunno how long this will get)

A little about me:

Hello! My name is Sam. However, I also commonly go by Wolf or Purple online. I am 18 years old, and I am a hobby artist. I don't really do art with the thought in mind to get big and popular with it. I would rather just make art for myself and then post it online for anyone who is willing to look at it.

I am mostly active on Toyhou.se or Discord. However, if you don't have either of those, then I am most likely to be reached on Tumblr. Here are my other socials, though, for anyone interested.

Username origin:

I came up with my username in 2020.

Purple = one of my fave colors (i have 3 fave colors, purple, brown, and black. However, purple was the one that sounded the best when trying to pronounce my whole username)

FNaF = fave game at the time (still fave franchise, though I prefer Hollow Knight as of right now)

Pasta = my favorite dish at the time (by now, it's ramen)

Nickname Origins:

Sam = is my name, not a nickname lmao

Purple = because people commonly use that for a short version of my user (who tf would wanna say/write my whole username, anytime I am mentioned in a convo, lmao)

Wolf = I can't actually remember where that nickname comes from. I just know that at some point, I always got called Wolf (mostly on Discord), so I just ran with it, i suppose. My best guess is that it happened because my fursona is a wolf.

What kind of art I'll post:

I am by heart an OC artist, meaning I draw and post mostly my own OCs, or art I made of someone else's OC(s). I rarely ever draw fanart, but who knows, maybe ya'll will catch me do some fanart (on rare occasions).

I usually draw animals (anthro and feral). However, recently, i have been attempting to draw more human/oids to better my art skilly for those as well.

I am also tempted to do little "furry-fied" versions of the Obey Me cast. (Since I can't draw humans, I might as well turn them into animals LMAO) Though I am also tempted to do re-imagines/headcanon designs for the regular humanoid cast, as an attempt to show what I headcanon/re-imagine them to look like. Can't make any big promises about that, though, as I mentioned, I ain't that great at drawing humanoids.

I may also try to draw what I imagine the Warrior Cats look like. Because why not, I love the book series.

I may attempt drawing some more complex/detailed chars (like robots or smth). However, i also aren't too great with that, so please bear with me and my (slow) learning progress. (Yes, I am a slow learner)

i was just thinking about this the other day. how some blogs are so helpful to reblog other author's works and then i was binging a new series that one of my faves wrote recently (pretty popular harry blog) and i noticed how she rarely ever reblogs anything from anyone else (and it more so occured to me because I saw this ask on the dash and was in agreement, like yes, guru is always reblogging other work).

so, i'm only coming her to also give you kudos for this as well. i don't feel like a writer should reblog if they don't want to but it just makes me feel like they never bother to read anyone else's work, again, they don't have to but there are so many talented writers here on tumblr and it amazes me when i either see an author say they don't read fic or if I never see reblogs.

anyway. not only are you one of the most talented writers on this platform you're genuinely kind to other artists on here as well and that really says something about you guru. i love a humble queen who is a master at her craft while also enjoying excellent writing by other talented writers.

WHAT??? You are way way too nice to me. I literally just enjoy reading and writing (it's why I'm here) and I know plenty of other talented writers who are reblogging on the regular too.

I'm surprised anyone noticed this to be very honest. I'm just doing my thang on tumblr and reblogging what I like. If other blogs don't want to I mean, that's their blog and they get to run it how they like.

I have seen some very popular blogs say they only read "real books" and not fic, but they write fic - and that tone is kind of snobby in my opinion. Like they're too good to read tumblr fics. Meanwhile I've read plenty of poorly written books with flat plots and characters and couldn't finish them, yet some of the best work I've ever read has been from wattpad and tumblr writers. So bragging that they only read books is not a slay in my opinion. Especially when they write fic themselves 🤣

Anyway, I'm beyond BEYOND flattered by you. I'm no master, nor am I all that but y'all are slowly inflating my ego and one day I might just believe you.

hello frankie, thank you for all the recs! I know a few songs from lucie and verivery but not the ones you recommended so I'm excited to check them out 😊 I like seventeen too although I haven't listened to all their music yet, rock with you is so catchy it's one of my fave from them!

as for me, I do like pop/rock sound too but now that I think about it I don't listen to that many kbands. I listen to a bit of everything so I love day6 (I'd recommend tick tock, shoot me, i need somebody, sweet chaos, rescue me and the entire book of us : entropy album lol) and then dreamcatcher (I saw you reblogged some yoohyeon gifs so you already know them but just to say that I saw them live for their europe tour and they were SO GOOD). I also really like btob (different sound but I'd recommend missing you, blue scene (og version and the cinema version), outsider and I'll be your man), nct (my fave unit is nct 127 and I'd recommend favorite, love on the floor, gold dust, simon says, limitless and no longer) and astro (I'd recommend crazy sexy cool, more, role play and bloom)

If you don't know them already, I think you might like kihyun's (from monsta x - another group i listen to a lot) solo work: his title tracks are called voyager and youth, also woodz's latest album (my fave are kiss of fire and chaser) and dpr ian (my faves are so beautiful, ballroom extravaganza, mood) and ring x ring by billlie

I don't really make playlists because I never really know what to make them about, I just either listen to my all liked tracks (very often on shuffle) or to one artist a time. Recently, I started playing spotify playlists a lot more (the ones based on genres or on a few artists) which I really like but I don't think I'd do a great job at making playlists for myself so that's one thing I'll let the machine do for me lol

my question for you today is: since n.flying are well known for their covers and cover medleys do you have a favourite one?

i do listen to day6 so i'm familiar with almost all the songs you mentioned! shoot me is one of my fave title tracks by them. haha and funny enough, btob was one of the main reasons why i got more familiar with kpop! i haven't listened to their newer releases yet but now that you mention them, i should. missing you really hits different 😭 i cried listening to that song a lot. nct! i'm honestly only familiar with dream's discography + limitless, so i'm excited to listen to all the other songs you mentioned! i listened to bloom by astro before and it sounds so majestic. almost like an OST. but i've yet to listen to the other two~

i've heard a lot of good things about woodz's latest album but i haven't gotten the chance to check it out yet o: i think i listened to one of his songs in passing (probably a random play after shuffling on yt music) and i loved the highkey rock vibes. kihyun, i'm familiar with (mainly because one of my friends also loves monsta x!) but i've never listened to any of his solo releases o: dpr ian is the only artist here that i don't recognize haha but thank you so much for the recommendations! 🥰 i'm excited to add more songs to my playlist

OH it's kinda funny that you ask that, because i've recently stumbled upon n.flying's cover of hakujitsu (i hope that's the right romanization of the word because i don't know how to read the jpn title 😭) and it's so good??? i feel like i've listened to that song every single day for the last two weeks. so i think that's my fave one for sure!

a very close second would've been their cover of 'ang huling el bimbo' when they performed in the philippines. this is a bit of a biased answer cause i listened to eraserheads (the og artist) growing up. i saw a fanvid and was surprised to hear that it was the first time hweseung performed with a guitar onstage! he sounded great (as per usual~) and his pronunciation was so good 🥺

but i also gotta give a shout out to their league of legends medley (i also love the fake tattoos in the mv). how about you!! do you have a favourite one~ (or a top 3 if it's hard to choose)

i love talking heads very much . and i love brian eno so very much . but if you’re going around saying that all classic rock was stolen from black musicians, then turning around & heralding tracks like “i zimbra” & specifically the “fear of music” era of talking heads like it’s a pinnacle of originality . i am going to bite you like a feral, rabies infested animal. brian eno’s favourite musician @ the time was nigerian revolutionary & afro-funk pioneer, fela kuti, & “i zimbra” is a direct lift from fela’s records such as “expensive shit,” “VIP,” & “zombie.” all of which came out several years before with some of the most blatant sources of inspiration such as fela kuti/ginger baker/africa 70’s live 1971 album came out almost a decade before talking heads release “fear of music” in 1979. brian eno even curated the 3rd fela kuti boxset not terribly long ago.

the thing that bugs me the most about this is that talking heads DO transform afro-funk into their own style on records like “remain in light” immediately after & even at times on “fear of music.” however the praise isn’t given in the same way, they’re heralded for tracks like “i zimbra” when this is in no way transformative & borderline is just a rip-off of nigerian afro-funk musicians that eno/byrne were listening to @ the time. the dreaded tina & chris duo then would all but steal the lijuada sisters’ musical style for most of their debut as the tom tom club. influence is one thing, lifting is another.

& before anyone tries to “gotcha” me, david bowie was largely inspired by these areas of music as well particularly during his berlin period & more specifically on my personal favourite, “lodger” with tracks like “red sails” & especially “african night flight” taking much inspiration from that scene. the only difference, i would argue, is that bowie used it as a tool & not a shield — just as TH would go on to do later, david mixed the afro-funk sound with influences ranging from the new york punk scene to the walker brothers’ 1977 record “nite flights.” he did something more than just lift directly from the source material.

it’s just so annoying to see all these haughty taughty posts about how classic rock is all stolen from black artists (which it is, but notice these artists are never mentioned by name) but then see new wave fanatics ignorantly turn a blind eye when their faves do the same exact thing. they just get to act all high & mighty & do nothing about it, make no effort to find out where these people might have gotten their sound from. & since most of this music was foreign, most of which from nigeria, there’s an imperialist state of mind potentially engraved in western listener’s mind that nothing good could come from there. it’s so fucking annoying & self righteous & elitist !!!!! anyways !!!! if you like talking heads’ “fear of music,” “remain in light,” & “speaking in tongues” era, vocal brian eno records, bowie’s berlin trilogy, or any art pop band from the 80’s, listen to these artists / records —-

It has been far too long since I have done one of these posts, especially considering how many amazing fics I have read between now and my last recommendation post. There are definitely fics I will miss and this is a reflection only on my memory and probably how long ago I read them. There is a plethora of truly exceptional works on tumblr, each of them requiring huge amounts of effort to be delivered to us as readers cost free so please please take the time to thank writers for fics you love, and at the very least give them a like (and a reblog, we love those too!).

Without further ado, I present fics that I adore!

First of all, a couple fanfictions from Wattpad because I have finally started reading fics from there for the first time since 2014. If you like me didn’t cross over to wattpad, I recommend you do so for these fics in particular.

Stall by @/MysteryMixtapes - a lot of people reading this list probably think this is an obvious one but I had honestly never even heard of any wattpad fics until the end of last year so there might be someone else in the same boat as me. This is nice and long, dark but also very fun and humorous at times. It is the best of both worlds in a lot of ways. You get to see dark and gritty mob!H but also some very sweet moments. The writing is outstanding, some of the absolute best that is around in fanfiction anywhere today. I don’t want to give too much away, so just believe me when I say this is a must read.

Aerial by @/peanutboyfriend - this story is simply gorgeous down to its every detail. Set in 60s Malibu, this story follows Harry and an original main character who have been thrown together as aerial performers in the circus. This book throws you into a perfectly crafted world that is simply beautiful. I often found myself wanting to step right in. It is slow burn, full of tension, twists, sickly sweet moments and also angst.

!Kinda spoilers! What these two books have in common is what I believe to be an accurate depiction of navigating a romantic relationship and the ups and downs of trying to create a healthy dynamic, and often having to get things very wrong before you get them right.

Now back to my tumblr fam! I am going to list first the user and then their fics that I recommend in particular, but I honestly recommend everything on these lovely people’s masterlists.

Aster - absolutely stunning tattoo artist!h fic, I could say so much but I don’t want to give too much away. But we start with y/n starting to make her own way in the world when she meets Harry, who is a bit of a dick to her even though she has a crush on him. The main character is so sweet in this, and it is all so beautifully written, I loved every word.

Chiaroscuro - suuuuuuuch an addictive vampire!h fic. My only qualm with this series is that it was not longer because I could honestly read about this little world forever. We start with y/n on the job hunt when she stumbles upon a live in house keeper position. Niall, who is handling the hiring for his friend, is lovely but something doesn’t seem quite right with this beautiful home or its handsome owner.

Harry hates the other camp counselors and Y/N is very optimistic - this fic was so freaking sweet, a lovely bit of protective!h, squishable reader and just a fun vibe. All of her fics are really nice and long, and build beautiful worlds which you could practically step inside.

Here is her masterlist because all her writing is fabulous, all her stories are so original, well-written and gripping. I could sit her and list ten different stories I could just cut out the middle man and send you straight to her masterlist because you won’t find a single story on there you won’t love.

You’re Someone I Just Want Around - I actually don’t have the vocabulary to express how much I am loving this story. These two lovelies are writing this gorgeous vamp!h fic together. They are serving slow burn, friends with benefits, secretly a vampire Harry with a dark past, who is, of course, in denial of his own feelings. This story is so fun, sexy and sweet, I am loving every moment and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Both these lovely authors do some of my favourite tropes and aus in their solo writings so I am just going to say check out both of their masterlists (sunflower...) and (adashof...)

Thinkin’ Bout You - holy fucking shitballs I can’t recommend this enough. This is about Florist!H who is a total freaking sweetie and has a giant crush on one of his new customers. The character creation was gorgeous, and every word painted the prettiest picture of this little world. Simply lovely, from start to finish.

Say It - sparks fly in the restaurant when Harry is assigned to show the new waitress the ropes. I adored this fic, it has that perfect blend of angst and freshly blooming romance (and also got a little bit saucy which we all love to see). Gorgeous fic, I cannot recommend it enough.

Pebbles and the Scarecrow - this fic had me absolutely squealing over how cute it was. I love halloween!harry. I love dad!harry. The two together, especially executed so well just melts my brain. This was actually unbearably cute. Co-ordinated costumes. Teacher!harry. Need I say more stop reading me talking about and go read it right now.

Fairies First - the absolute sweetest dad to be!h and pregnant!reader. Super cute and so well written, as is every fic on her masterlist. Read them all but also here are some more of my personal faves

The Thrill of the Chase - I literally read this first thing this morning when I woke up and saw it had been posted and I adore it! We have hunter!harry which is a trope I feel like you never see but based on this fic alone, I am obsessed. It’s a lowkey cottagecore vibe so if that’s what you’re into, you will love it.

Drive Me Wild - in which harry has trouble expressing emotions and reader talks too much. Okay I was so obsessed with this fic and could read a full length book of this au. Quiet!h and super chatty!yn are the cutest combination and the angst hurts so good my god. But also the fluff warms my soul.

The Mute Series - where Harry doesn’t talk and falls in love with y/n. I think I’ve read this fic at least three times. We have mute!harry, college!harry, and just overall sweet, shy lovely, Harry. This fic is gorgeous, it tugs on your heartstrings so aggressively and I just love it to pieces.

Once again, these are some of my favourite writers on tumblr, and these are simply some of my favourites of all their works and I recommend going through their whole masterlists.

welcome to my blog!

Hi all!

So, it’s been a long while since I made an updated post for my tumblr and with the pinned post feature now added I figured I should take advantage of it. So, hello! I am Mandy and this is my FFXIV-centric blog for my OC/WoL Ahlis Ildilayan that is part RP, part writing shenanigans, and part Aesthetic Reblog Central.

If you’re here because maybe you have an interest in role play, how my rp writing style normally goes, and/or you might wanna see if we’d be compatible in that regard please check out my rp tagged posts! For the record I do not do RP in game, it’s either here or on Discord. Sorry ‘bout that!

Hello! I've oredered a bullet jornel but idk how to make it so pretty

hi anon! well firstly i just wanna remind u that ‘pretty’ is 100% subjective when it comes to these things, and i have to say that i especially notice it in regards to bullet journaling - i always feel like everyone’s spreads look miles better than mine, but people seem to like my bujo posts just fine :) so what i’m trying to say is, don’t focus on how pretty your journal is, focus on the process - do what feels good, let your creativity run wild, try new things etc. i assure you you’ll start liking your spreads more and more as you go and get a hang of it :)

here’s just a couple tips you might find helpful:

discover what medium you like best - what type of pens? gel/ballpoint? maybe markers or crayons? do you enjoy adding printed photos or stickers? it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the options you see on studyblr, but remember that you don’t need fancy stationery to make ‘pretty’ spreads :) i usually just go for a black gel pen, a pastel marker for my accent color, sometimes i add some washi tape, but that’s it - i prefer a pretty minimalistic look to my spreads

draw inspiration from others’ bujos - ofc this doesn’t mean copy them completely (unless they say it’s alright if you do, most will if you ask them beforehand!), but you can find layout ideas and handwriting styles etc. by going through the #bujo or #bullet journal tag here on tumblr, you can also go on youtube (amanda rach lee is my fave bujo youtuber, her videos are lovely if you’re just starting out, as she does explain her process well) or instagram (again, amanda posts lots of doodle tutorials that you might like there). you can also see all bullet journal posts i’ve reblogged by searching ‘bujo’ on my blog.

when you first start out, i think the most important thing is to play around with different spreads and layouts so you can find what works best for you. do you prefer vertical or horizontal weekly layouts? do you enjoy making playlist spreads? maybe quote pages or memory collages? remember that your bujo can be anything you want! a practical life planner with a hint of art, an artistic outlet with zero functionality, do what you want and what you want only. don’t think you have to make a certain spread just bc loads of other people are making them in their own journals. i, for instance, have come to realise i have absolutely zero use for a year at a glance spread. it does look lovely, though :)

most importantly: try not to hold yourself to a too high standard. i know. it’s not easy, but toning down on perfectionism will free you and allow you to focus on journaling for the fun of it, l'art pour l'art and all that :) additionally, you can use a pencil to sketch your spread before going in with a pen, just so you can easily fix any spacing mistakes you might make
