rocky aur rani thoughts
it wasn't at all what i expected actually? like I'm not sure what I expected but it wasn't that
rani chatterjee let me raid your wardrobe
they really just promoted tum kya mile and jhumka because there were like no other really memorable songs--
I sound a bit mean but I had a blast, I laughed a lot, did tear up at least once, and didn't want to pull up 2048 at any time during the film
(spoilers under the cut)
the film had some real 2011 style feminism moments mixed in with more genuine things? the interview at the start made me want to die but there were some almost - ALMOST - coherent points in there
bollywood is not the place to make statements about fat shaming etc etc but there was almost smth valid in seeing any jokes about what whatshername ate clearly coming from ...people were not supposed to like?
rocky and rani were actually quite sweet, despite the ...extraness
i think the film kind of rolled over this as rocky was supposed to be wealthy, but there's a great deal of elitism in the sort of attitude Rani and her family have towards Rocky. It makes me wonder what this film would be if he didn't ... colour coordinate his cars to his clothes and live in a replica whitehouse. like on one hand it's arguably his wealth that makes him able to be the way he is, but on the other hand, the traditional/modern divide that they were showing is typically also a class divide. there's no reason for rockys english to not be good as he is now - and nothing apart from personal taste and "traditionalism" for them to critique, even though rocky isn't actually that traditional in comparison to his family, and even if he was, they - esp at the start - didn't know that
on the other hand I don't know a lot of Bengali people or a lot of Punjabi people so it may just be like a culture shock thing they're going for. idk. i understand it, i just think it's a little bit of a miss for a genuine criticism on their laughing at him
the grandparents element was funny lmao. like what's going on THERE. but it was almost kind of sweet, too, the way they just ...liked spending time together I guess
keh diya na... bas keh diya
^ half the cinema actually echoed this line with her. icons only
the film did pretty often pit men against men and women against women. this worked! when alia or her mom were yelling at men... this worked a little bit less? idk. i think sometimes it ends up feeling a bit mouthpiecey, and some of it was weirdly phrased and ...strongly delivered, to say the least. i understand that they're both from an environment in which they feel safe voicing their opinion, but I was nonetheless going - would someone actually say that? so openly? so maybe that's on me
everything about the alias dad storyline was just chefs kiss
i do think rockys relationship w his mom and sister needed a bit of work for the big fight scene to work. it sounds weird to say since so much of the film was abt the randhawas but ranveers mom's dynamics w everyone were a bit underdone
the guy playing young granddad was so hot. hotter than the real actor actually was back then tbh
all I could think during the ranveer dance routine was how much time did it take him to learn that dbdndndjdjf but that was excellent
idk. i think in some senses the scale of the movie interfered with its effectiveness, but I don't want it to be any smaller in the ayushmann khurana sense, if that...makes sense? idk. it did feel very kjo production, and I like that about it
tum kya mileeeee,,,, tum kya mileeeee,,,, hum na rahe hummmmm,,,, tum kya mileeeeee
ranis "i am speaking" was hot though the whole of that non-confrontation made me want to yell, though maybe because it was happening in public
SPEAKING OF when she crashes her car into his in the middle of a four lane road and then they just fucking stand there and talk and kiss for 10 minutes and all the other cars just go around....lmaoooooooo
still think the more obvious solution was for them both to move out of their family homes but ok

Spoilers under the cut for those that haven’t watched season 2 of Sweet Tooth yet. I'm super late making this post because of unfortunate life events but here we go.
Season 2 was really good. I managed to have the energy to watch it upon release and it didn’t take me long to get through. I ended up finishing it only a few days into May.
It was nice to see Gus’s relationship with the other hybrids, though most of them that were there at the end of season 1 obviously were killed off and it’s odd that they forgot about all of them except for Roy. That was a shame. I can’t remember many of the surviving hybrid kids’ names, but the raccoon girl, Tommy Turtle, the bird girl, and the owl (?) girl are my favorites.
I was disappointed that Johnny was killed and I was hoping that General Abbot missed his shot and didn’t hit something vital. I was expecting Johnny to be found and actually help them against Abbot and be the one to kill him. Am I the only one who started shipping Johnny with Rani? I think they would have been a cute couple because it seemed like they maybe were starting to like one another as both he and Adi started going through their own mindset change. I wish Johnny and Rani would have ended up together.
I also started shipping Aimee with Jepperd. I was surprised that they killed her off. I was a bit disappointed, but it makes sense because her role will be Bear's now to fulfill. I was hoping that Aimee would have ended up with Jepperd, but I had a theory that the one Last Men guy lied to him about his family being dead and gave him some random people's bones and that his family was somehow still alive. I figured that Jepperd would find them alive again next season or a later season (which would be more likely), but then Netflix confirmed that Sweet Tooth was canceled after season 3 which sucks because the comics were apparently much longer and they could have made the series longer. Now I feel like Birdie and Jepperd will end up together perhaps.
Bear and Wendy's reunion was very nice. She'll do anything for her sister. Now she has the rest of the hybrids to protect and it will be interesting to see how their life unfolds with Bear. They've all been through so much and deserve happiness.
This brings me next to the Animal Army. I wish they could have gotten more screen time after Tiger had them betray Bear. They were an important organization and deserved more time to shine before they got killed off this season. I was happy that Tiger and Bear were reunited and that she could get her little redemption arc. Tiger died doing the right thing and was able to warn Bear that the Last Men were coming. I wish she could have lived longer.
Also, that teen boy Bear met when she snuck into the Last Men. I've already forgotten his name. I wonder if he survived and if we will see him next season. I feel like he could have been an important piece this season. He could have been one that could have been brainwashed and come to realize that hybrids aren't the bad ones. He could have seen the light if he would have stuck around Bear. They both could have been important to each other's character. I also started shipping them too. I wonder if we will see him next season and if we will get a reunion between them.
Season 3 is going to have a lot of shoes to fill: Gus and Jepperd's journey to find Birdie, Birdie making the cure, whatever Adi will be up to, whatever Rani is up to now that she's off on her own, Bear and the hybrid kids, and the woman who will take over as the villain for season 3. I wonder how they will get everything done in around 12 episodes. Maybe they will make a few movies?? Who knows. I can't wait to see what happens. I enjoyed this series a lot and I don't want to see it end so soon. I'm such a sucker for found family elements.

Well guys, here is Janhvi Kapoor because I was bound to post a Kapoor some day. Now, many of you might wonder why that's inevitable and I would tell you it's because if you are going to post Indian Actresses there's like a 50% she's a Kapoor at least by marriage. Which is a joke but for the uninitiated, which I assume is like 95% of my audience here, the Kapoor acting family is so big they have their own wikipedia entry. Go ahead, click and then count up how many names on that page have their own wiki page as well. If you are the sort of person who finds nepo babies frustrating in Hollywood your head is about to explode. Anyway, this is where it gets confusing, she is not part of that Kapoor family but a different Kapoor family (the originator of that Kapoor family was cousins with the originator of this Kapoor family) that still includes 11 people notable enough to have wiki entries because of their roles in the film industry. Also her mom was an actress who I saw on VHS tapes back in the 90's and for the record, also attractive. The attractive thing just comes up because it feels integral. I don't think you get far in Hollywood without looks, at least not as a star, and the same is true in India but maybe even more so. A lot of the biggest names were once Miss India. Anyway, Janhvi came up the other day cause her little sister is acting and I was talking about it and my friend jokingly said, "Well, she's not going to be successful looking like that". Which brought up their mom and also Janhvi who it was proclaimed, "Also won't be successful because she looks like a shriveled up old hag". Jokes aside, all of this lead to me going to see Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (blink and you'll fucking miss her. Alia Bhatt is in it though, who I have almost posted before and IS married into the bigger Kapoor family) which I had to cut and paste the name of cause it was never happening otherwise. The movie is of note that it was the 10th highest grossing movie in the world two weeks ago even though I am assuming those of you reading this have never heard of it. India has the largest Desporia in the world so get used to this happening more and more. I am all for it. Not all Indian cinema is for me because… duh? Not all American cinema is either. But Indian cinema is vibrant and exciting and the world is richer for it. I have watched so much French Film over the years and some of it is a miss but it also produced movies I deeply love. Other countries getting their movies to us is only a good thing, I am really excited for more Indian cinema showing in our theaters. But I also wanted to point out here is an actress with a famous name, from a famous family, in one of the biggest movies in the world and you probably haven't heard of her. That's always fascinating to me with Indian stars because like a billion people know who they are but they could walk down the street unrecognized here. Fame can be weird like that. So I wanted to share here because it's all so interesting to me plus she's ridiculously beautiful and as a side note @kat-eleven needs to know about her. Assuming she reads this, she might be straight and married to a man in California now. Today I want to fuck Janhvi Kapoor.

(Transcript under the cut)
Next (Part 2)
Scene 1 - Outside the Fosters home (28 Windslar)
Wes: There you are. Thought you might have run away already.
Haven: God, you’re clingy. I checked out a record store in Copperdale with Cassandra. Pretty fucking cool. The perfect place for a jam sesh.
Wes: Cassie, huh? You move fast.
Haven: Very funny. You know she’s dating someone, right? That Sidney Price guy.
Wes: So?
Haven: So, I’m not her type in the slightest. I might as well get used to being a lonely Windenburg farmer.
Wes: Well, then, allow me to be your fairy godmother. Got an invite to a nightclub from Wolf. Remember him? The club’s all the way in Evergreen Harbor, but he swears by it. Here, I’ll send you his text.
Haven: Got it. Dew Point? What kind of name is that?
Wes: They’re weird in the Harbor. But they’ve allegedly got good drinks, they don’t check IDs too closely, and weed’s legal there. What’s not to like?
Haven: And you’re sure it’ll be...my kind of scene? You know what I mean.
Wes: Haven, Haven, Haven. When have I ever led you astray?
Haven: Well—
Wes: On second thought, you don’t need to answer that. Wolf seems right up your alley—don’t think I’ve seen him in anything other than black outside of school. You’ll love him.
Scene 2 - Inside the Fosters home
Heather: Thanks so much for staying over, Rani. To be honest, I thought I’d be all alone on my birthday.
Rani: Alone? You’ve got 5 other teens in this house! I’m jealous, honestly.
Heather: I guess so...but I’ve only known them for a few days. Chloe’s nice, but she’s always at soccer practice or the gym.
Rani: I get it. I know we don’t know you that well, but Marissa and I had fun. And sorry she had to duck out so early—her parents might actually keel over and die if she misses a single science fair.
Heather: That’s all right. I’ll see you both in school on Monday. Have a safe trip back to Oasis Springs!
Scene 3 - Inside the Fosters home
Haven: Makeup done, hair done...I clean up pretty good!
Cassandra, on the phone: [Why am I traveling all the way to the Harbor tonight?]
Haven: Because your new BFF needs a wingwoman. Some guy named Wolf invited Wes to a club, and Wes invited me, and I don’t know anybody else there.
Cassandra: [Wolf invited you guys? He said he had work tonight! That bastard.]
Haven: You know him?
[Do I know Wolfgang Metzinger? snorts Only since he bit my arm when I wouldn’t share my chorizo back in second grade. That asshole’s usually one of my best friends.]
Cassandra: Haven: Usually.
Cassandra: [He does stupid shit sometimes. Can’t help it.]
Haven: Well, let’s hope he’s trustworthy tonight. When I go too long without a date, I shrivel up like a raisin and waste away.
Cassandra: [Haven, you’re sixteen. Dramatic much?]
Haven: Seventeen as of next week, and hardly. [pauses] All right, Wes is ready to go. I’ll be waiting for you at Dew Point, and if you want me to remain a voluptuous grape, then I’ll see you there.
Cassandra: [Never say those words in that order again.]

i said ng+ doesn’t mean anything to me, but …
i made three pairs of arisen and pawns, the plan was to switch every ng+ but i found i can’t enjoy two of the arisen i made as protagonists. it could very well be that i’m just attached to syl, yes and No. i made syl as my idea of an ideal pc for this game, an adventurous helpful little guy semi-detached from the world To Me fits right in and drives me to Play like i want. it’s silly but yeah if i make an arisen that characteristically wouldn’t be running around opening chests and killing random monsters, i will not want to run around opening chests and killing monsters bc it would bug me and make me stop which would make the game a Lot less fun to me and i get bored. it happened.
after deciding i’m not going to play with my two other arisen, it gave me the opportunity to branch out their stories in my head and i love that for them. sparrow’s journey should be different, he’s from outside the continent the game is set in and he uses magic i’d call anti-brine. his story could age badly should the map expand in the dlc, which would Suck and so he’s decidedly from a parallel world.
and so is aser, whose journey Should go differently because of his status and relationships. son of a former arisen who founded a town in the northern most of vermund would Not be treated like syl even with my initial idea of ‘his family just doesn’t know he’s alive’ and so on.
ough i could go on. but instead here’s why syl ends up with each of these guys’ pawns in ng+, because My reason of i just want to play with pawns of these inclinations isn’t enough for me. i give you, syl in a cycle limbo! not quite the cycle going forward, no ser it’s of his own, and winnie’s Will.
syl kills pathfinder, winnie died to help him, he died. not really! their souls linger, winnie had a wish. she witnessed two arisen fail before and she really really felt for their poor pawns. her will, her wish threw syl in the cycle limbo.
he’s physically in a coma post-ending (oooh corny ng+ was all a dream!), she sleeps in the rift, to wake up he must fulfill her wish. his soul mingles with the lost soul of the semi failed arisen sparrow, he wakes up in sparrow’s body and takes him down the path familiar, he meets thorne, sparrow’s reincarnation frees him from the rift. sparrow-syl doesn’t recall the dragon’s attack in melve, he recalls sparrow’s former life and failure. his success would save this world, give a pawn the missing half of their soul. or something. it’s not the same world sparrow failed to free from the cycle, mind, but it would free him and thorne from their own cycle of death and rebirth.
it repeats, aser’s body, get attached to a third pawn oh it seems like a happier ending the more he goes thro it. or something.
he walks the path a fourth time, waking up in his own body, he summons winnie, she remembers him and knows what he did. they do this together again, she promises him it would be the last time. they get their happy ending.
this is kinda shitty and hurriedly written but just enough to appease the silly part of me that Needs this elaborated upon. at the end of the day, ng+ is just me having extra fun and this isn’t canon in syl & winnie’s tale, hmm call it a branching. bye now
(ye a part of winnie was in the reincarnations of thorne and rani, which means a part of syl was too. their bestowal of spirit is from syl as much as their arisen, he’s just generous like that (winnie too). say he kind of… ascended and his will became beyond powerful. will is soul. yeah. they’re all v dear to him, very dear to me.
the two arisen don’t fail originally! they’re very capable on their own! but in a timeline i want This silliness to happen, they do and winnie & syl get their backs. thank you)

5, 35, 54, 62, 83 for dai, minah and narayani!
ty my dear! // 93 fun oc asks
5. What’s their relationship with their parents like? What about other relatives?
DAI — dai's relationship with his dad is good! they're incredibly similar and dai has always looked up to t'velle as a role model and an inspiration and a source of wisdom. it's been a little strange to come home and have that moment of realizing his dad is also just A Guy. dai's relationship with his other parent is largely nonexistent, as they were an earth djinn who used their final Wish to wish daichi into existence as a fuck-you to dai's horrible grandmother, and dai has some very complicated feelings about that—some pride, some guilt, some grief. he's been reading through musa's diary and it's bittersweet to see parts of himself reflected in someone he's never going to get to meet. beyond that, dai gets on well with his uncle, does not get on well with his grandmother (the bitch), and is fond of (if often exhausted by) his cousin lhoris. (and of course, he loves his other dad pelor so much, and historically he's gotten on well (if awkwardly) with his other other dad tempus) MINAH — minah was absolutely a daddy's girl growing up and wanted to be like him and do him proud. her family got along well, though they had their usual spats and arguments. unfortunately her parents are dead, so there's not much of a relationship anymore. (she misses them horribly) NARAYANI — rani's birth clan is gone and she never knew her parents, but she was taken in and raised by clan lavellan as a sort of collective village+child thing, and she loves—loved—them all very much. she was closest to one of the elders who was something of a grandmother to her and really took her under her wing, but she considered the entire clan her family. it wasn't their fault she grew apart, not really. she just spent so long being the thing that protected them that she forgot to be their da'ayani
35. What is the easiest way to annoy them?
DAI — insist on things being true when they aren't. the more inane and stupid the better. dai would have hated the lolz so random era of internet humor. MINAH — complain about helping with things that everyone else is doing. she doesn't mind some kvetching but there's a time and a place, y'know? also, nosiness NARAYANI — every single unthinking, unconsidered word out of a shem's mouth is annoying to her. "the elves" she's already tuning you out.
54. What is their current hairstyle? What have been some of their past hairstyles? Which was their favorite hairstyle?
DAI — currently he's got cornrows capped with little gold beads and a sorta black/gold ombre thing going on (it gets lighter at the ends). in the past he's had long locs, a buzz cut, and natural hair. when he has a minute to restyle it, he's gonna go back to locs, but shorter this time. this vibe MINAH & NARAYANI — answered!
62. Have they ever been betrayed? How did it affect their ability to trust others?
DAI — he's definitely been screwed over and is far less trusting of people than he was before the campaign, but I'm not sure he's been in a position to trust anyone enough for being turned on to feel like a betrayal. he felt a little betrayed when zaref first revealed he was a void tiefling/got them trapped in the void, but he's level-headed enough to know that wasn't actually a betrayal. MINAH — yes. as we've all seen, she's totally normal about it (girl has intense trust issues) NARAYANI — absolutely, but she's slow to take it personally. she's got plenty of other stuff going on that makes her wary of trusting others; past betrayals don't change much. (she also insists—once, firmly, when someone brings it up, and then it never comes up again—that what solas did wasn't a betrayal. it was a lot of other things, but she never felt betrayed by his actions. she is, perhaps, a little biased)
83. Can they swim? How well? Do they like to swim?
DAI — yes, mostly just enough not to drown. I think he probably learned from one of the soldiers during the rebellion (I'm not sure his dad even knows how to swim? I guess there might be underground lakes in Il'hesa but I'm not sure I'd trust them). he's ambivalent about it; the water is nice but he tends to sink like. well. like a stone. also he's died underwater twice now and that kinda puts a damper on beach days. MINAH — yes! she grew up near a river and enjoys swimming. one of the best parts of traveling with the troupe was camping by a lake or a river and getting to take a dip. NARAYANI — yes, very well. she enjoys swimming on a hot day and the freedom of moving through the water. it's a pity the south is so cold

60 Years of Doctor Who Anniversary Marathon - Hartnell 5th Review
The Empire of Glass - Novel
Tumblr media
This is a novel of two halves. Half of it is very good, and the other half is not so good. But it’s by no means bad pre-say.
Let’s start with the basic plot. The Doctor returns to the Tardis after being taken out of time by the Time Lords. Long time fans will recognize that this story takes place after the events of The Three Doctors, but that matters not. What’s important is that the Doctor returns with an invitation in his hand, with no memory of ever receiving it.
Said invitation lacks any sort of explanation but comes only with time coordinates for Venice in the year 1601 AD. The Doctor and his companions, Steven and Vicki, fear it’s a trap, but the Doctor wants to spring the trap and get to the bottom of this mystery. From there we have a wild romp through the late Italian renaissance with aliens, mistaken identities, and several historical figures.
Now let’s talk about what doesn’t work first. For starters, there are way too many plot threads going on. I wouldn’t say it’s unwieldy, it does all come together in the end, but it’s very convoluted.
As a side effect of this, the inclusion of so many important historical figures feels superfluous and forced. Yes they all have a function within the plot, but it’s nothing that couldn’t have been achieved with mostly original characters to begin with. Rather than enhance the story, they often distract instead, especially William Shakespeare’s ludicrous sub-plot.
Also, and this may just be a personal taste thing, but this really didn’t feel like a ‘missing adventure’. I don’t know what it is with Virgin Publishing and their Doctor Who books, but a lot of the stuff I’ve read from them are too try hard and edgy and would feel very out of place within the show proper. This particular book isn’t the worst offender by far, but it does take you out of the story sometimes. Especially since this is trying to mimic an actual First Doctor story, albeit one that has more sci-fi/historical mash up than was usual for him.
Finally, the characterization for the Doctor and his companions felt uneven. I was told that this was originally meant to be a Third Doctor story and I think it shows. There are definitely times when it feels like the First Doctor is a later Doctor just wearing a First Doctor mask it seems.
Vicki fares a little better, but is given little to do. However I do appreciate that the author is trying to give both her and Steven depth by exploring their respective traumas in a way that just couldn’t and wouldn’t be done on screen. However, Steven feels a little too abrasive... Yeah, I mean Steven was never the most enthusiastic companion, but I don’t remember him being this much a downer. I also don’t think the romance between him and Marlowe really worked. It feels like a scene is missing from their story, one where Steven actual recuperates Marlowe’s advances or something.
So for the good things... It’s well paced. The story trots along nicely and gives plenty of nice details. The character’s who aren’t the mains are well realized. I like that the threat isn’t an alien invasion, but an attempt to sabotage an alien peace conference. I also like that the person who successfully negotiated the peace conference was a human priest who thought he had died and gone to heaven. That was the best twist, but most of the twists were well thought out.
There’s also illustrations!!
Tumblr media
These are so rare in novels! Why? They’re a great thing to have.
However the best thing about thing about this book is Brax.
Tumblr media
For those who don’t know, Irving Braxiatel, known as Brax to his friends, is the Doctor’s brother. He’s also a rouge time lord, but unlike the Master or the Rani, he’s not really a villain. Nor is he always a good guy, but here he is trying to do the right thing and he easily charms his way into the reader’s hearts.
This is my first real encounter with the character, though I had heard of him before. He was named dropped in the Fourth Doctor story, City of Death. The only thing we knew about him was that he owned a massive library and museum. Turns out he’s kind of like the Collector from Marvel, but slightly less of a dick about it... slightly.
Anyways, the expanded universe has since took this one off mention and spun him into an important character who appears in books, audio plays, and even some spin-off cartoons!
Like I said, this is the first time I’ve come across the character, but I shall be rather pleased if he manages to show up again in the marathon. But who can say, it’s all up to the randomizer.
Tumblr media
Oh and does anyone else think this random no-named Time Lord from Terror of the Autons is Brax too?

A Sarah Jane adventures au
With Manuela as Sarah, the journalist who lost her parents and investigates the aliens that come to earth
Dimitri is luke the boy who’s a genetically engineered
Byleth is Maria but she doesn’t move away in this
Claude is Clyde the school prankster who wants to explore the world someday
Petra is rani the high school investigator who’s extremely interested in the mysterious woman and her son who lives opposite her and her family
Edelgard comes in somewhere as like a half human half alien teen who gets put on earth to destroy it
(So does the rest of the cast at some point)
Hanneman is the doctor (yes he fits the 10th doctor vibes me thinks)
Seteth is they guy Sarah Jane nearly gets married to but is a reoccurring character because Manuela kinda crushes on him afterwards and he misses her
And it’s basically just Manuela her son and his friends trying to save the world from aliens with a bit of love smooshed in with it
———-
Like imagine The Wedding Of Sarah Jane episode but it’s Setuela
Seteth is Peter who she’s been seeing for a few months and is hopelessly in love with him and he her.
Dimitri, Claude, Petra and Byleth are worried about her because she’s been lying to them more often and as Dimitri says “Nothing good ever happens when she lies to them”
So they end up following her and find out about her and seteth because Claude sees them kissing.
Manuela tells them about seteth, her and Dimitri have this talk about how she’s not gonna tell him about the alien investigator part of her life because she doesn’t wanna loose him.
Fast forward a few weeks to the wedding. turns out that Seteth made a deal with the trickster Manuela’s greatest enemy and they are now trapped in a time loop that only she can break
The others are with the doctor or Hanneman as he likes to be called and their trying to figure out how to save/help Manuela
Whilst seteth is trying to persuade Manuela to say I do and she’s trying to get him to see the truth
(I love this episode so much you have no idea I could go on for hours)
But yeah that’s the gist of the au let me know if you want more!

People can’t be fans of RHATO and pre-52 Roy and the same time because they’re so different! I–Yo yes you absolutely can. Same as you can love Adam West Batman and Dark Knight Batman. Also even with all their difference I have seen plenty of fans merge the two. It actually isn’t that hard. Especially when you consider how much real people change over their lives. Or how people can act incredibly different around different individuals.
—-
Sorry, just want to say, I’d prefer if you could send this as a an ask - replying to submissions is weird.
I think you missed my point a little. When I said they were so different, I meant that OG Roy had experiences that make the very existence of N52 Roy impossible. Lian for example. Or his Outsiders era. It screws up the timeline to a ridiculous degree - like, the existence of 4 different robins really messes with Bruce’s and Dick’s ages, but having RHATO Roy would mean OG Roy missed out on a lot of formative experiences.
Yes, you can love Adam West’s and Christian Bale’s Batmen, but that because no one’s trying to reconcile the two or say one became the other. It’s very clear that both exist in seperate universes. No one would argue that say, George Clonney’s Batman grew up into the one Christian Bale played. Movies are like elseworlds - it doesn’t make sense to say the Tom Taylor’s Dark Knights of Steel fits in with the comic verse. However, Injustice was so cool because it built on pre-existing hero characterisations with just a few differences and more extremes.
Reboots should be like the later, not the former. If a character is basically unrecognisable, why would old fans want to read about him?
As for the second part of you statement, Sure you can merge the two - if you ignore large parts of canon, any logical timeline by which to base other characters and take basically nothing from RHATO except that Roy and Kori are suddenly BFFs with Jason. And even so, it makes little to no sense that the Outlaws even formed since a good number of their storylines (especially the Kori ones) has already been done in the ntt or New Titans.
And yes, people change over the course of their lives, but what RHATO did was completely rewrite Roy and Kori, not change them. Like, Tim and Damian and others grew/changed in N52 because they were young enough that it didn’t undo large swarths of their history (or STEAL large parts in an effort to make lesser know character more important). With the Titans, N52 just doesn’t reconcile with their past selves OR Rebirth selves. Like, I’d be more honest and comfortable with my friends vs my family - I can’t change my past depending on whom I’m with.
Roy went from being an reasonable and independent, if sometimes insecure hero to being the sidekick of someone who used to be atleast 5/7 years younger than him and who died before at 15. While Kori just became a weird bimbo with very little of her old complexity. Anyone wonder why the only part of OG Kori Lobell kept was the free sex one? (The sexual harrasment allegations he admitted to made me wonder for sure).
Also, the Titans were SUCH a huge part of Roy and (especially) Kori’s history, that without them or Roy previous closer to the arrows, the series was just super flat, generic and unrecognisable. Both Roy and Kori were largely defined by their loyalty to others and their emotional bonds. Of all the people to have amnesia, it’s just …
I’m sorry, I could ramble on and on and I’m sure you don’t want to hear it. In short, I hated RHATO’S portrayal of Roy and Kori and given how it doesn’t fit with Pre-flashpoint version OR with the Rebirth version. I took the destruction of Earth 52 in Crisis on Infinite Earths to be DC’s tacit way of saying it was gone.
Here’s what RHATO Roy and Kori are more like. It’s like if you had Rani’s first two Spiderman movies and then jumped to Spiderman homecoming and then went, “no it makes sense, you’re just not understanding the genius in saying a guy who became Spiderman as a high school senior and THEN lost his uncle, all while being best friends with Harry Osborne is the same as a guy who was spiderman by his sophmore year, lost his uncle a while BEFORE that and apparently had a fatherly relationship with IRON MAN (???). See, it’s brilliant! Who gives a hoot about logic or timelines or fans of the first guy (who existed for like 60 years before that)?”

I’m not really sure what this is. I wrote it at 3am with a prompt my friend gave me.
Warning: Slight violence, mentions of pleasure houses, not proofread
Alex was walking down the streets of the lovely city he calls home. He was rushing his wife had called him and had informed him that he was late for dinner. He felt horrible, as it wasn’t the first time it had happened. As he was running he didn’t even notice the man following him, staying in the shadows.
——————————————————————
Felix couldn’t believe how easy the job was, that he almost felt bad for killing the guy. It was obvious he was in a rush, since he entered an ally way. Felix got his knives ready and threw them at the guy, two of them landing in his upper back and the other landing in his hip. Before Felix could go to retrieve his knives his head was slashed of his neck. Behind him stood his partner Rani holding her urumi, this job was hers and she was going to get her money.
——————————————————————
One second I was running to my wife the next I was on the floor, I felt sharp pains in my back, it hurt so much I could barely even move. I tried to reach for my phone but I couldn’t, I started to except that I was going to die here and my wife would think I had abandoned her. Just as I was excepting my fate I heard a voice behind me, “Let me help you”. I felt the knives being pulled from my back and then something being injected into my arm, before I passed out.
—————————————————————
Why is this man so heavy, my arms are definitely going ti fall off, thought Rani while hauling Alex’s body up the stairs. God knows how the stab wounds didn’t kill him. When she finally got to her room she put the man on her bed and went to make tea. She sat on the couch beside her bed with the tea and a book waiting for the man to awake.
——————————————————————
An hour or two later Alex woke up while groaning really loud which caught the attention of Rani who had just got up to go to the bathroom. When she came out she sat beside Felix. “Where am I?!?” Alex exclaimed. “Your at an inn that I own, you got stabbed in your back and I carried you here, and treated your injuries” Rani replied her voice remaining calm. Alex muttered a thanks and tried to move but he couldn’t. Rani explained that his wounds had paralyzed him from the neck down. Alex wanted to speak to his wife and like she was reading his mind Alex’s phone started ringing, it was an the dresser beside him. Rani looked at the phone and then at Alex, and told him the she would inform his wife about everything. Alex wanted to protest but before he could Rani had left the room.
——————————————————————
Rani didn’t like to lie, or kill but this life was better than living in a pleasure house and some people deserved to die. Men like her partner Felix deserved to die, always underestimating women and men like Alex cheating on their pregnant wives and constantly missing special days. Men who would visit pleasure houses, use children for pleasure, the mysterious woman who ran the pleasure house. In this world one of the only people that didn’t deserve to die was Nancy, she saved Rani from a life where she would die miserable to a life where she would die with knives in her hand.
Rani picked up the phone and on the other end it was Alex’s wife, Nancy, the woman she was in debt too. Rani informed Nancy about Alex, leaving out Felix from the story. She told Nancy the she would make Alex feel pain for the way he hurt woman and that was that. Rani walked back into the room a smile forcing itself on her lips, “Your wife will be here in a bit, you should get some rest” she said before turning around a walking out the door to sharpen her weapons. Nancy had told her to wait, she wanted to watch her husband perish and die.
Soon Nancy arrived, and Rani lead her to Alex’s room. Nancy and Alex spoke for a while, with both of them crying and apologizing. This went on for some time before Nancy signalled Rani to start the torture. Nancy suddenly pulled away from Alex and she smiled strangely before pulling out her knife and stabbing him in the stomach, she kept the knife in so he wouldn’t bleed out. Rani threw chili powder into his eyes, and Nancy continued to stab him. He was screaming and that sound brought joy to Nancy. After an hour of this torture they carried him outside. They lied him down on the ground and burned him. He tried to hold his breath but he couldn’t, he screamed and died. His body burned until all that was left was his ashes. No matter what anyone said, Alex deserved to die.

Kuch kuch hota hai would’ve been an excellent gay movie if Anjali was a boy called Anjal ( means heavenly messenger as per google)
Rahul and Anjal being the best basketball boy duo in college. Rahul would have college girls swooning over him and Anjal being the unruly kind who never became popular because his charm level was very low and he was awkward. Both of them managed to win all the matches of the season between them tho.
Anjal being hopelessly in love with Rahul but believes it to be wrong and never voices it, keeping his feelings buried. Doesn’t stop him from giving Rahul pining looks whenever he’s not looking.
Rahul being in love with Anjal but never realises it because you don’t have that kind of feelings for your best bro. HES JUST MY BRO, BRO.
Rahul being attracted to Tina cause she’s hot af ( Rani Mukherjee’s outfits okay ? Rani Mukherjee herself is iconic) and Tina becoming BFFs with Anjal because Anjal has no romantic interest in her (reason? One word: Rahul) and it’s nice to have a friend who’s genuinely interested in talking to her and not trying to flirt with her.
The movie progresses the way it does and Anjal goes back home and Rahul and Tina get married and name their daughter Anjali after their best friend Anjal whom they miss very much. And of course, unfortunately, Tina passed away leaving a widowed Rahul and a motherless Anjali behind.
Anjali finds her mom’s letter and she discovers the existence of her namesake and the fact that her mother knew that those dumbasses were in love with each other but the time wasn’t right.
So Anjali sets off to fulfill his mom’s final wish and organises the camp thing. Anjal is getting married to London businessman or business woman (take your pick because Aman can be used for both genders) and they’re very fond of each other but some small part of him is forever Rahul’s.
Anjal and Anjali meet at camp and Rahul soon follows and the BROS ARE UNITED. Except, you know, the being in love with each other part. Rahul has his bi awakening upon seeing Anjal at camp and seeing him interact with kids and just being his hot, adult self.
The Rain scene happens. You know that one
Rahul is in his black shirt. Anjali is in a similar red or white one. And they dance and then Aman shows up and their bubble bursts. The Anjal and Aman leave for their wedding and Rahul begins to mope.
His mom and Anjali, finally fed up with their bullshit, are like SON HE LOVES YOU AND YOU LOVE HIM. MAN UP AND GO GET HIM BECAUSE THIS IS YOUR CHANCE. So Rahul runs after him.
The wedding scene takes place line by line the way it took in the movie and Aman, being the only one with good eyesight, observational skills and common sense is like fuck this shit you both are getting married here and now and drags Anjal to the mandap.
After god knows how long ( Principal Malhotra claims 10 years and also wins the bet going on amongst the college staff because he knew how emotionally constipated they were) they confess their feelings and get married. If Dadi is seen crying discreetly into her handkerchief, it’s no ones business. Almieda fully sobs and doesn’t even bother hiding his emotions.
Aman and Anjal finally get to live their happily ever after and Anjal makes it clear to Anjali that while he loves her with all his heart and would love to be a dad to her, he is in no way trying to replace her mom and never will. Anjali hugs him and is like mom was right you are an idiot and I love you too. And the ending scene can be the newly married couple teaching their daughter how to play basketball or something

This past weekend was so awesome! For the first time, I got to go to a con for free with an Industry/Professional badge because of my own creative work online with The Cantata Pansophical! It has always been my dream to work on nerdy projects so to be rewarded with nerdy gifts in return was a dream come true! I've grown up attending cons my whole life, since before I could talk. It is a huge part of what inspired my journey as an actor so to finally earn an industry badge with my own creative work? I don't have the words. It was simply amazing.
I had so much fun hanging out with friends there and buying too much nerdy merch! I got to meet the wonderful Will Friedle and tell him how much I loved him on Critical Role. I also got to attend several awesome panels (one including my badass friend, Victoria Rani!!!). It felt like home being at a con again. I've missed going to them so much since the pandemic began. Live long and prosper, my beautiful nerds. You guys are my tribe. 🖖🤓❤️

Garden of Heathen 25- The Band is Back Together
Aussie found Gertie by Rani's bedside. Rani herself was finally showing signs of improvement, she wasn't screaming or thrashing anymore but seemed to be actually resting and healing. Gertie was another story.
She was curled up in an arm chair, looking very uncomfortable but seemed to be asleep nonetheless. Aussie noticed corkscrews of hair hanging down in her face, something Gertie always hated. She walked over and wound the lock of hair around her fingers, Gertie's blood shot eyes flickering open.
"Looks like it's time for a haircut, huh?" Aussie said with a small, apologetic smile.
Relief washed over Gertie's face as she got up and threw her arms around Aussie's shoulders, almost knocking her over.
"I missed you," Gertie cried, burying her face in Aussie's shoulder.
"I'm sorry," she said after brushing a wild curl out of her nose.
They sat in the arm chair together for hours, a tangle of legs and arms, talking till they both felt better. Gertie talked about how hard it was to care for Rani because she had no idea if she was doing anything right and she could have really used Aussie's emotional support. And Aussie apologized, explaining how she felt like every decision she made led to danger for herself and others.
"So did Gally fix you?" Gertie asked her.
"What do you mean?" Aussie chuckled, not being able to help the warm fuzzy feelings that manifested as pink cheeks.
"I told him he had to fix you or else," Gertie clarified. "So, if he's not responsible for this I have to make him pay, obviously."
Aussie laughed again, resting her head on the back of the chair.
"Well... you should let him live another day then," Aussie sighed through a smile.
"Ugh," Gertie stuck her tongue out. "You guys are gross... I'm happy for you."
"Shut up," Aussie giggled. "He told me you'd been pestering him."
"He did? I'll kill him," Gertie said it like it was no big deal and Aussie snorted.
"I don't think you will, I think you've gotten attached to him," she was telling the truth but tried to say it like she was teasing just to feel her out.
"I. Have. Not," she replied deliberately. "I just know how... enchanted he makes you and figured he was the best one for the job."
"Enchanted?!" Aussie repeated incredulously, one brow raised as high as it would go.
"Your eyes get all big and- oh, Gally," Gertie used her fingers to open her eyes farther and made her voice all breathless.
"I do not!" Aussie planted her hand over Gertie's face. "Geeeez!"
"Well, you come close. Joan says you look at him the same way you look at the dog."
Aussie's expression fell slack. "Do I?" She asked nervously.
————
Gally was pleased to spot Gertie and Aussie by a little fire that evening as he did his laps around the garden. They'd missed dinner but Gertie was hand feeding snacks to Aussie as she did the monumental task of cutting the younger girls hair.
He finished his exercise in record time and quickly cleaned himself up, happy to find them where he'd last seen them. Bright blond curls littered the grass and dirt around their little bonfire and a pitcher of juice sat in a bucket of ice.
"You're not done yet?" Gally asked as he took a seat on the log by the fire.
"Have you seen how much hair she has?" Aussie's eyebrows shot up as she grabbed a fistful for dramatic effect making Gertie yelp. "Plus it's curly, plus she has so many cowlicks it's like a herd of them got ahold of her."
Gally grinned while Gertie scowled.
"Just whack it all down like his," Gertie told her waving an arm at Gally.
"No! I like your crazy hair!" Aussie refused.
"Well, it's not like you could look any uglier," Gally smirked at her, her eyes widening at this blatant assault.
She made to stand up and come after him but Aussie held her down by the shoulders as she tried to hold in a laugh despite giving him a reprimanding glare. Gertie instead took off one of her shoes and chucked it at him. He ducked then turned to watch it tumble through the grass.
"Haha, you lost your shoe," he mocked her with a cheeky little grin as he ate some of their blueberries.
Aussie was looking at him slightly amused but mostly confused, her eyes clearly asking him what the heck he was up to. He just gave her a more genuine smile and her suspicions melted away. She continued snipping away here and there, so focused she didn't notice the two of them making faces at each other. Thinking she was done she came around and bent down to look at Gertie dead on to check, but just as she did, Gertie stuck out her tongue and blew a raspberry.
Aussie quickly jerked back as spittle hit her face.
"Oh god!" Gertie slapped her hand over her mouth as Gally cracked up laughing. "I'm sorry!"
Gertie was laughing as well as Aussie wiped her face. She couldn't be mad because the sound of Gally's laughter filling the night air was like music to her ears.
"You're done, you goob," Aussie chuckled as she put down the comb and scissors, walking over to the empty seat beside Gally.
Gertie hopped off to retrieve her shoe, the glare she gave Gally on her way there full of mischief. On her way back she tried to blow a raspberry in his face too but he held her at arms length with one hand, no matter how she tried to get around it he was just too strong, she couldn't do it. She flailed a leg at him but he caught it mid air and started to laugh at her ridiculous predicament.
"You done?" He asked through chuckles.
"Fine," she panted. "Truce."
"Ok," he let her go and she doubled over trying to catch her breath. Neither noticed Aussie's eyes ping-ponging between them.
After a few seconds she lunged for him again but he caught her by the forehead and lightly shoved her away.
"You're not going to win!" He laughed.
"Fine!" She cried before marching off. "I'm going to the showers and you better not think of pranking me!"
Gally shook his head at her, glad to see her in a better mood even if she was just as annoying as before. But now he was left alone with Aussie who was looking at him in bemusement, biting her lips.
"I told you she was giving me grief," he said, feeling a little awkward under her gaze.
"I see that," she nodded. "I missed a lot apparently."
"No, not that much," he shrugged.
"I'm glad you guys are getting along... if you can call it that."
"We get along like cats and dogs, that's what I'd call it," he chuckled.
"Are you the cat or the dog?"
"The dog, obviously, because she's so feisty," he turned to grin at her and found her softly staring at him, her small smile punctuated by her biting her bottom lip. He shyly looked away.
He picked at his thumbnail as the fire crackled, fully aware of Aussie staring at him with her head cocked to the side. He felt the heat rise to his cheeks and finally glanced over at her. She didn't say anything and she didn't look away, her eyes just roamed his face as her teeth worked on her bottom lip.
"What?" He finally asked her with a little nervous laugh.
She just silently took in each feature of his face, completely unaware that his heart was pumping to a new beat. Then she spotted something. A very unique and familiar cowlick. She reached over and brushed her fingers through his hair, it being softer than she expected. It was all clicking together now. She was about to blurt out her newly discovered theory to him when she noticed the way he was looking at her now. His gaze was intense to say the least and it froze her in her tracks. Her heart tried to escape her body when she noticed he was slowly and hesitantly moving toward her. What was he doing?!
"Here I come!" Gertie's voice called out. "My eyes better not be scarred by any mushy gushyness!"
Gally's eyes cut to the side, his lips pressed into a line as he pulled away from Aussie. She just blinked and swallowed hard.
Gertie walked up, looking at them through her fingers like they were a horror movie. Satisfied that they weren't doing anything she lowered her hands to her hips.
"It was too quiet," she squinted at them.
"We're not all as loud as you, squirt," Gally sighed heavily.
"So, are we doing another camp out?" She asked, ignoring him.
"Sure," Aussie shrugged. "What are we gonna sleep on?"
They ended up dragging Aussie's mattress down and her and Gertie shared that while they moved Joan's prized hammock over to the fire too. Moo showed up for bed time, taking up precious mattress space as they chatted and laughed till they finally fell asleep, or pretended to be asleep at least. Gally and Aussie both unknowingly laid awake thinking about that moment earlier, each wondering what the other meant to do.
When she finally nodded off, Aussie dreamed an important dream. A tall man with a strange mask was standing in front of her. She wasn't afraid, she knew him. He asked her to help his sister.
MAsterlist remember yall, comments are my creative fuel, serotonin, and dopemine. I don't care how long or short, thoughtful or simple, or if you leave a lot of them. I love it. I save them and look at them whenever I doubt myself.

When: Continued from Here Where: Star City - Ted’s Lab With: Michael @aurification
The thought of not telling Booster he could live with him didn’t even cross his mind. Booster was his best friend since they’d both been younger, dumber and far too reckless. They’d been through way to much to not have each other’s backs when they needed them. And Booster turning up with a teenaged daughter in tow (still... what the hell was with that!?) and his time tech out of whack was enough to have him stepping in to help. “Course I wouldn’t mind. I know it’s been a while but Kord Industries is doing pretty well for once.” he laughed slightly, “So I can afford to put you both up with me. My apartment’s got enough spare rooms for the both of you. But uhh, you may have to put up with a puppy, I was given him as a gift and well, I can’t turn the little guy out now.” he shrugged. “Wait, lead can hurt her like the green stuff does Sups?” he asked, gaze flicking over to Rani, “Well, I’m no biologist but It’s something to get started with huh?” He wasn’t gonna let the kid wonder around when there was a chance she could get that sick. Not if she was that important to Booster. He’d see what he could do. Teddy laughed his usual guffaw, “Yea, butterfingers. Don’t worry, I’ll fix it up.”
He looked back over to Rani when the young girl joined them again and chuckled, “Sure kiddo. You and your... Booster.” ‘Father’ still sounded damn odd, “Can have some and I’ll be sticking to a healthier option.” he tapped his chest lightly, “The old ticker’s not too great so I have to watch what I eat.” he explained, not bothering to tell her how stringent he was with his need to be healthy these days.
He gave Skeets a thumbs up, “Bet she’s missed you ya old charmer. You were the whirlwind romance of the robotic community.” He really wished he knew what they talked about though.
It was only after he’d finished chatting with the other pair he caught sight of Booster wiping his eyes, “Hey, you okay?” he asked, stepping in front of him and stretching up on his toes to get a better look at his eyes. Time travel could do weird things to the body and he always worried a little that Booster could hurt himself if something went wrong. Still, he looked alright though, his eyes were a little red, but they were still nice eyes. He’d always noticed Booster’s eyes, they stood out when he took his visor off.
He nodded, not taking a step back, “No worries, Boos. We’ll fix it and get you and Rani back to where ever you need to be. In the meantime you can catch me up on what you’ve been doing, well... what you’re allowed to tell me anyway.” he laughed again. “First things first though, c’mon.” he spread his arms, “Where’s my hug? You’ve usually picked me up and spun me around by now?” Which he’d always complain about but actually enjoyed deep down, and he’d not had a Booster Gold welcome back hug in years.
