doesn't matter how aroace I am, I have accepted that a relationship is beneficial in many ways and there's certain things that you can't expect friends to cover and they can't fill. but I have zero interest in looking for a partner in traditional ways that requires small talk/flirting/dates/etc. so that makes me realize i'll most likely not trick someone into partnering with me lmao

the internet seems to call this kind of thing "queer platonic relationship" (did I remember it right?) and you just need to find another sroace person to do it with. but either way, there's no textbook to study for how to get that and where to find these people. it seems harder than the puzzle that is regular dating tbh.

what to share hmmmmm. their love square is very messy, mhm mhm. when the story begins, hotguy and cuteguy have already been working together for about a year, so they know each other pretty well! though grian and scar haven't met once.

they're kind of living in two separate worlds. scar is in the world of the elite because of his parents, where as grian is middle class. they have met once before, long before hotguy and cuteguy existed, though grian doesn't remember it. scar does. because it was the day he fell in love with grian <3

it was something small, but it was a moment that was everything to scar. he was having a rough day, one of the ones where it felt like everything was out to get him. he happened to walk past the barge just as grian was leaving, a bag of extra pastries in hand. they bumped into one another, and grian, seeing how pouty scar was, decided to hand him the bag, telling him it looked like he needed it.

and scar was... so touched. so touched in fact, that he 100% fell for the stranger giving him a bag of pastries. he tried to find him the next day, but grian wasn't there (aka scar visited the bakery when grian happened to be out on break, only meeting joel and jimmy instead). scar never really connects the dots that grian is the owner of the bakery.

not until the story begins, at least! because the universe throws our heroes back together in the form of a party. one that grian's bakery is hired to cater. and grian knows all about the goodtimes family, he can't stand how stuck up they are. and naturally, he assumes the same of scar. he's forced to cater this party, runs into scar, and scar is so happy to finally know the name of the mysterious but benevolent pastry boy he met :D

and the flipside, with hotguy and cuteguy... grian definitely wasn't expecting to ever met hotguy. not in person at least. it happens by chance, with the two of them running into each other quite a bit. they're chasing down the same villains, and even looking into the same problem.

grian has... a lot of expectations of hotguy built up in his mind, since he's watched interviews and clips on the web. it's a "never meet your heroes" moment, really. because hotguy is the exact opposite of what grian expects him to be. he can quite goofy and clumsy, especially in battle. and they don't work well together at all at first. grian has to break down the expectations he has for the hero, which happens the more time they spend together.

there's almost this one sided rivalry going on, when they first start working together. because grian has these expectations, and a need to prove himself. oh and y'know. he's also crushing on the guy. majorly. it's bad. it's a mess. they work through it, become really good partners. grian's feelings only worsen. except hotguy doesn't see him as anything more than a friend, a teammate. rip buddy </3

but I think my favorite side of this lil love square is grian and hotguy, purely because they're goofy little guys with crushes on each other and thinking about the two of them interacting in Any capacity is really cute.

do you have any recommendations for resources re: tarot

okay so actually i have advice. don't read the literal meanings of the cards. like it can be helpful to know the intended meanings, the astrology, the numberology, and symbolism but ultimately a reading will be more accurate if you understand the tarot in your own personal way. a lot of practitioners recommend making your own personalized deck to start to understand this concept better (like, printing out a photo of a butterfly and taping it to the death card to represent death bc that symbolism hits better for you).

for example, the knight of swords was a card i associated with an ex of mine. now whenever it shows up in a reading, i can either interpret it as its literal meaning or as having something to do with the romantic partner of the person im reading. but that will ultimately depend on the message of the readings, which is up to you to interpret.

also some people use spreads. i personally find spreads pointless. you don't need them to be able to read. don't memorize them. the position of the card on the table means nothing unless it DOES mean something. but that's up to you to FEEL not formulate. so don't use spreads. unless, like, you personally vibe with them. i'm not a cop or your mom so you do you.

in terms of resources, don't bother with books unless you're looking for general history stuff or some scammer's take on the "the soul's feminine and powerful journey of the tarot" or whatever. here's what you're going to look up:

-the history of the specific deck you're using, who created it and for what reason

-occult symbology and associations

-alchemical symbology and associations

-basic classic art symbology (ie what poses mean, etc)

-astrology in general and astrology in its relationship to the tarot

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY

-meanings of each suite

-numberology (but like numberology specific to tarot. you can take into account actual numberology but tarot has its own numberology. googling 'tarot numberology' should work)

those last two are literally just what tarot is and it's usually universal across any type of deck. for example, take five of rods. rods = fire = knowledge. five = conflict. the five of rods' literal meaning in traditional practice is either a conflict or fun challenge. so conflicts are caused by differing opinions or thoughts OR conflicts can be seen as fun brain challenges. so five of rods literally means what rods and five represent together.

finally, a note on reversals - don't read them when first starting out. reversals don't mean the opposite of the upright card a lot of the time and you'll just get confused when trying to remember them all. just read the cards like normal and then eventually start to understand what the reversals mean TO YOU.

also those pick a card tiktoks never work bc its all based on algorithm. find some on youtube though (like the hour long ones) and just listen to those readings even if you don't think their advice applies for you. hearing someone else's take on interpreted tarot can be pretty beneficial in seeing how you view it.

also practice tarot with friends when you can, it's fun. make them learn tarot too so you get readings sometime as well.

Kevin walked down the side walk, a leash in his hand as he smiled at the dog getting herself tangled. He was attempting to untie her while walking and ended up bumping into someone. "I'm so sorry." He immediately apologized but quickly wanted to take it back.

"Never mind, fuck you." "Wow, what a warm welcome, eight." "Five, what do you want?" "You." "Bit forward." "Doomsday is coming and I found everyone but you and here you are so I need you to come with me." "Doomsday?" "Yes. We have very few days to stop it." Five looks Kevin over once, noticing the golden puppy sniffing his shoe, before his eyes caught his hand. "Excuse me, where is it?" "What?" "It. Where is it?" He follow his gaze and huffed. A few stores down, he panicked a bit when he heard a familiar voice. "I-It was nice to see you, Five, but I...I have to go." "What happened to wherever, whenever?" Kevin stopped in his tracks. Luther asked but Kevin was already running out of the store with Five following the the banister. "Kev, I need you to tell me that you'll be here on time." "I...I will." "Will you?"

They had a stare down, it felt like an eternity but it was only a minute before Kevin just looked away from Five before walking out. "So, Uh, real quick, What was that all about?" Five turns back to Luther, masking the feeling of betrayal of his partner with a stern look. "Don't know and don't want to get into it just yet, right now, we're on the clock." He says as he heads off to collect his other siblings.

(Season 3 now, in the car while Klaus went to find his mom)

"Why do you still have that?" Kevin said absentmindedly in the front seat while Five lounged in the back looking at a map. "What do you mean?" "The ring, dipshit." Kevin snapped. "Why do you still have the ring?" Five stares at the map for a minute before putting it down and sitting up to lean on the front seat. "Assumed you still didn't want it after..." He trails off, still not looking at Five, even when he got out and moved to the front seat with Kevin.

"I saw it. When we ran into each other and Daniel came out of the shop, I saw it." "What?" "Heartbreak. Emotion. Other than anger or neutrality, I've never seen emotion in you, not even as a kid. I felt something in me break when I saw raw pain in your eyes. I didn't...I didn't mean to fall for someone else...I was in the sixties alone, I thought all of you were gone. Daniel found me outside a liquor store with his mom...I didn't know where I could go, I was a teenage forty-eight year old in the sixties, His mom was the sweetest and took me in when she saw my state." Kevin laughs lightly. "She probably thought I was concussed or something but-" "You were outside a liquor store. You were drunk." "As a fucking skunk." The two of them laughed.

Kevin finally looked up at Five for the first time in...who knows how long. "Five..." Kevin said softly as he hesitantly placed his hand on the side of Five's face, wipe away a stray tear. "Hey, it's okay." Five then slid over from the driver side to the passenger side and threw himself at Kevin who wrapped his arms around him tightly. He rubbed his back, muttering nothings into his ear as he held him close.

For the first time, Five felt panicked. He didn't mean for all of this to happen, he just wanted to save his family from the apocalypse, he just wanted to save the word and look where they are now. In an alternate version of their timeline where their academy doesn't exist.

Kevin felt Five hold him tighter, felt his hands grip his hoodie and the heavy intakes of air that did nothing but make his head hurt. "Woah, hey, Five." Kevin frantically pulled back from him, making him look Kevin in the eye. "Five, Hun, it's okay." He gets a small sob and a head shake in return. "I just wanted to save the world, Kev. I just-" He covers his face with his hands, his breathing not getting any calmer as the seconds pass by and Kevin starts tearing up at Five's distress, he's never seen Five so broken before.

He gently takes Five's hands into his own, gently holding them as Five tried to look away from Kevin. "Hey, No, look at me." He says calmly, leaning forward a bit in an attempt to catch his eye. Five slowly looks over to Kevin but keeps his gaze down. "You don't have to look at me...just tilt your head up, look near me..." He mutters and the other does so, he expected gentle words and guidance out of this panic attack but instead Kevin leaned forward, connecting his lips to Five's, simply to just distract him, not that he missed it, and it works. Five gasps at the suddenness, immediately leaning into the other, for once letting his mind relax for a moment.

They don't notice the energy wave until it's coming back at them and they pull apart, looking around to notice that the cows are gone. "That's not good..." Five mutters and Kevin pouts. "Do we have to? Kissing is better..." Five sighs, looking at Kevin with a gentle eye before getting out of the car. "Son of a bitch." Kevin mutters before smiling at Five's laugh. "Got better things to do but I guess figuring this out needs done first." Kevin's expression lightens up as he puts his arm on the open window and peaks his head out to look at Five. idk if your willing to say anything about this but i’m very curious about your opinion. what if y/n (in the blood and fire series) didn’t kill anyone because she couldn’t take it? would they kill her or banish her from the tribe or maybeee she’d leave everyone and go back to her tribe (i’m a poc so we have tribes in our culture lol) because it’s better than being stuck somewhere you don’t belong hmmmmm🤔

Hey Anon, sorry I didn't answer this immediately.

I don't think they would kill her (or at least Masaru, Katsuki and Eijiro wouldn't let them kill her). I think she would just be sort of "stepped away" from. Like people wouldn't take her seriously as the mate to the Chief of Dragons and the Barbarian Chief, either. So obviously being isolated is a terrible feeling so I personally think she would step away out of her own choice.

She would decide that she just can't live in a place that doesn't want her. She would most probably tell Eijiro and Katsuki this. Now at first I think Katsuki would try everything to make you stay and so would Eijiro but I don't think they would succeed.

She would leave but I don't think she would go back to her village. Realistically speaking, the village knows by now where she went and who she went with (We have villages in my culture and sort of tribes but their hard to explain here. Point of the matter is her home/birthplace). So its most probably that she would be living alone somewhere off of dragon island since dragon island is most probably more dangerous living on alone than on the mainland.

Eventually, after realizing how much of a fuck-up the two of them are, Katsuki and Eijiro would make the tough decision of probably leaving their tribes to go be with you. Of course this is a very serious crime in Barbarian and Dragon culture since community is everything and choosing an "outsider" over the community is like a knife to the chest. And when they find you, God, they are just happy to know you are alive and well. Now at first you are probably thinking "Now hold on a second... something aint right." And you probably encourage them to go back.

But that's the thing about Katsuki and Eijiro. They are thick headed himbos who don't know what they are doing and are love sick 90% of the time. They love you above all else. So if it means loosing their titles? Their families? Yah it sucks like shit but at the end of it, it's not your fault or their fault. They just want to be with you and others can't accept that.

Most probably...

You would all end up in a small house in unclaimed land, near a mountain most probably (Kirishima likes mountains- reminds him of home). You would have your own little garden and livestock with you too. Living a sweet life not too far away from a village if you need anything, and your killer partners- now turned probably bounty hunters (you can't change their blood thirst mindset after all) will probably adorn you with everything imaginable.

I mean they still have their hoard. Dragons hoard could make you rich till the third generation.

I think, if in all honesty, the idea of having kids scares him a bit at first. I think he's the type to say he doesn't want them, they're a distraction and he's not interested in what he calls 'brats' running around, but part of me feels like that comes from two things, and that is a) an awareness that there are many irresponsible parents out there and too many kids without parents too, and he is self aware enough to know (in his head) to believe that he can't be the type of parent that a child might need. Plus he likes the fast life and the concept of being a father terrifies him when he is very much a danger - or at least his lifestyle is. Besides, why give up what he likes? The cars, the danger of his lifestyle.

However I think the second reason he might be averse to kids at the start might have something to do with his own upbringing, or rather lack of. I have always hc'd him as the child of a mother who left him (this is something I minorly explored in my Coin Lockers fic here- it's a concept I absolutely adore thinking about and if you do get time please do go read Coin Locker Babies by Ryu Murakami which is where I originally got the idea from) but to me, his aversion to kids might come from both of these reasons. I feel like he tells himself often that he doesn't need 'any of that shit' partly because it's just easier than to admit he holds resentment that he assumes he shouldn't. He has virtually no ties to anyone or anything- to me this has always been evident in him hanging out with Kisaki despite him not being so nice to him all the time, a willingness to let himself be used for what he can offer if it means experiencing something- being kept around for usefulness because it is better than being left. Of course this is just my own thoughts, and lmao I do have a reallllyyyy particular version of Shuji in my head. He plagues me daily lol.

I feel like this changes once he meets someone he loves though.I think it would take LONNNGG time for him to warm to the idea of family and if i'm honest I think the whole kids thing would come as an accident rather than something him and his partner talked about, I don't think he would plan something like that at all. And I do think it would freak him the hell out to find out his partner was pregnant, scare the daylights out of him to actually be responsible for a whole 'nother human. BuT, I think he'd actually make a good father, and I think his willingness to try is why. He's aware that he's a danger, that there's tonnes he has to learn and honestly, there are habits he's not going to change and many mistakes he's going to make- but I also think he has the tenacity to keep attempting to do things. I think he makes conscious efforts to be gentler even though he's so rough around the edges especially with his partner. He's learned how to be softer and a bit more attentive, being observant by nature definitely helps here but there's also a lot you have to teach him about both partnership and parenthood. But he tries and tries, and that's the best thing about him. But don't ever tell him he's softened up a bit or he'll just deny it. Cutie pie.

Plus the idea of him with kids and as a dilf makes me want to eat my own arm lol so there's that too.

Gloss: Gloss has trouble dealing with anger. He doesn't understand it because he's a naturally docile and passive person. It's one of the few emotions that he doesn't express. If someone is yelling at him he will just stand there and not know what he is supposed to do. On the flip side, if, and only if, he becomes mildly angry, he'll probably combust because he doesn't know how to express it properly.

Brett: Brett also has trouble dealing with anger, but for the complete opposite reason. He has trouble containing his anger and finding healthy outlets for it. He's easily angered or frustrated, and he's not afraid to show it. He's not one to get physical with his anger towards another person, however, the one time he did was a fight between him and Tungst. His bark is definitely worse than his bite, but he will bite when provoked.

Gloss: To be honest, Gloss has never thought about children. It's just not something that's been on his radar. If his partner ever approached him about having children, he would definitely consider it. However, he would be deathly afraid to ever be left alone with them. Gloss is a very smart man, and he knows that children need to be watched at all times. With his spacey and laid back demeanor, he's afraid that he'll forget about the children and they'll get hurt. He'd need a babysitter if his partner wasn't around to watch the kids. Also, since this is Gloss we're talking about, you bet he will pull out his sketchbook and draw his kids every chance he gets.

Brett: Oddly enough, Brett is actually afraid of children and he has no idea why. Deep down inside, he definitely wants one, but he can never wrap his head around the logistics of it, especially considering the type of relationship he's in. It's hard to be a brat-tamer when he has a kid hanging off his leg. I think he's afraid of losing part of his identity and the dynamics of the relationship. He can't just get up at a restaurant to teach his brat a lesson, and leave the kid in the booth alone... I think he would have a mid-life crisis if his partner said they were pregnant. He would be attentive to them, but also afraid to touch them.

one: what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are? going to skip past the obvious like my parents and say american girl dolls (got me into history, made me major in it in college and got me to get my MA in public history, so all my career stuff has been tied back to them hahaha), joining my livejournal/dreamwidth roleplaying communities which kept me writing a lot and getting involved in fandom stuff (this is how I met @heystovepipeboys!) and generally growing up as and staying a big nerd about a lot of stuff, which shapes pretty much everything about me all the time lol.

three: 3 films you could watch for the rest of your life and not get bored of? hmmmmm tough call bc I don't think my usual answers for favorite movies necessarily fit this (jaws is usually what I say is my fave, but I don't ever really put it right back on after watching it), so the ones I tend to be like okay let's put it right back on as soon as the credits roll are princess mononoke, what we do in the shadows, and captain america: the winter soldier. honorable mentions to star trek '09 and x-men: first class which I watched about a hundred thousand times in college whenever I wanted to put something on while writing.

twelve: what’s some good advice you want to share? don't settle for a partner who doesn't or barely tolerates your hobbies and interests. there are so many people in my doll collector groups who talk about spouses/partners who actively hate their collections or shame them for having them, and honestly life is too short for that. I was told for years as a kid/teen/young adult that I'd never find someone who liked disney/comic books/collecting toys/star trek/pokémon/history as much as I did, so I'd have to get used to the idea of getting rid of all my stuff when I got married, but my wife is super supportive of my interests and actively participates in 90% of them. she even collected dolls before she met me! your partner doesn't have to be involved with everything you do, but they should respect your interests and you should respect theirs!

I'm gonna go with two here - one wolfstar and one Jily.

Wolfstar - I think probably the only person who will remember this now is @squintclover who was probably the only person who read both chapters before I deleted it (lol, sorry for the random tag. The plot was this: Sirius and Remus, complete strangers, meet at a club and share a magical first kiss. Idiots that they are don't exchange names or numbers and cannot find each other again. Meanwhile, James (Sirius's bestie) and Lily (Remus's bestie) met at the same club on the same night and are in the process of falling in love. Remus and Sirius don't want to meet their bestie's new partner's gay best friend ("not every gay guy needs set up with every other gay guy" and "I might still find him again!") and it's a frustrating experience of them *just* missing each other. Until.... they don't.

Jily: Voldy wins AU, but wins the first war before the Marauders even come of age. It's got Handmaid's Tale vibes with Lily who never went to Hogwarts, and there's a prophecy that the muggleborn with red hair is the one who has the ability to save the wizarding world, if she chooses.

As far as why... eh. It wasn't the right time, I think. I still want to. There's a lot of things about both stories that I love.

TALKING ABOUT THIS FIC!!! :] big ole ramble down below lol

(i use the word "partner" a lot here but just know i am not referring to strictly romantic relationships lol)

OHHH GOD. relationship writing advice HMM HMMMMM. it really is very complex bc there are SO many different types of relationships that can be written about ghfdgjh so advice definitely varies!!! i think something helpful that i've learned is that unless you are purposefully examining power dynamics it always helps to view both sides as fully realised characters. very very rarely do you want to have a character who is solely there to agree with their second half and have no personality or history outside of this. i see this happen a LOT with romantic pairings but it's also an important note for platonic pairings as well!! ESPECIALLY if the main focus of the story is on this specific pairing-- it shouldnt feel like one person is a human being while the other is a cardboard cutout whose only purpose is to be there for their partner. again there ARE a few exceptions to this and how it is portrayed but its the main rule i like to stick to!! :]

if i feel like ive written a character who is solely there for their partner something immediate i go to is giving both characters something that separates them!! most of the time this includes fleshing out a backstory thats different from their partner, that might influence the way they see things within the narrative. give them a different hobby, maybe a different friend group! give them a different perspective on the events that are unfolding, a different way of coping that might not be beneficial to their partner!! and remember that it is OKAY for them to not agree on everything!!!! do not be frightened into thinking you need every single relationship in your story to be perfect and unproblematic and completely agreeable, especially for longer narratives that call for conflict

OH AND IN REGARDS TO FANFICTION... piece of advice i try to follow is donttttt try to mold characters into entirely different people just so they can stay happy and agreeable with their partner lol. if theres tension theres tension!! if theyre petty then theyre petty!!!!! even if there isnt conflict and youre writing fluff, you dont have to erase their personalities just to fit them together as a happy couple! sometimes the challenge in writing comes from finding what happiness means for that specific character/pairing, and that may be very different from the typical idea of romance/happiness!!

AND NOW ON TO MAKOTO AND MIU first of all. i am so sorry for making you read paragraphs upon paragraphs of me just rambling nonsense at you GHFDKGSH BUT I APPRECIATE IT!!! and second of all this technicallllyyyy is advice i guess but its WAY more specific now!!! lol

anyways when it comes to writing their relationship most of their dynamic is based off of their differences! opddmh miu is brash and loud, and even though she is trying more and more to filter what she says she still speaks before she thinks and grows restless very easily. opddmh makoto on the other hand cant afford to be brash and loud and thinks quite a lot before he says anything, and is lot visibly calmer. so its fun examining how their differences are able to influence the other throughout the fic!!!! miu NEEDED that calming influence considering the state she was in when makoto found her, i quite frankly have no idea where the hell she would be now if makoto hadnt been so patient and understanding ghfdksghkf. makoto on the other hand is a man chained down by responsibility, so much so that his life has become extremely dull in his eyes just because of how repetitive it has started to become. miu is a serious change to this and offers him some kind of purpose while also reminding him of not only how SCARED he was as a teenager first exiting the simulator but also how unrestrained he had been before the years went by. theres a balance there!!!

but at the same time, there ARE some similarities. theyre both a bit paranoid, and even if miu is more willing to be vocal about her distaste theyre both scared of danganronpa as a company. they also both strive for some kind of peace, even if they have different versions of it-- makoto wishes to be unburdened by the weight of responsibility and his Ultimate Hope persona while miu wishes for stability in her relationships with others, even if she just isnt the best at it. its why i like writing small moments such as the two of them just sitting in the car and chatting or the most recent moment where theyre not talking at all but are still comfortable in each others company-- they dont explicitly tell the other that theyre super happy and at peace but they both subconsciously understand :)

Even though I am still in a state of bittersweet-sad feels over watching the end of Persona 5 Royal last night, the current gaming roster for upcoming months (and we are sllllow, so months usually means the whole damn year or more) features:

1. CD Projekt Red extravaganza

2. Stardew Valley 1.5 vs 1.6 in cozy play mode

3. "Find all the things I never saw before" on-and-off playthrough of Disco Elysium

So, in short, we still aren't up to 2024 (other than the SDV 1.6 release happening tomorrow) bc ... free time? Where do I find more of it? (Can video games be sold with time off on my calendar so I have time to play them??)

Partner has never played Witcher 3 so that is the MAIN EVENT on the big screen TV on evenings when we are both free (not often tbh, but when it occurs, big screen gaming sometimes happens).

I have been ITCHING to replay CP2077 with all of the new content from last year, autumn, so this week I need to figure out how to share saves between Steam and the Playstation 5, if that is at all possible. If not, hmmmmm. Bc partner wants to see all of the new content and a full playthrough too.

Stardew Valley (1.5 release) on my iPad (disaster farmer) continues as a cozy activity, plus when 1.6 drops tomorrow on Steam I'll be restarting my Highly Goal Driven Organized Farmer's game, since she's only in mid-summer of year 1 right now anyhow.

Disco Elysium continues on and off via my steamdeck -- restarted that game a few weeks ago and playing a talking-tie Harry with a lot of WooWooZanyTimes vibes. Purposefully trying to see content that I never saw during my initial playthrough.

And.... various indie games as I see fit, tbd. Especially if they are short and time-constrained.

Strangely, FF7 part 2 is just going to need to wait for a while.

Still looking for time to properly play BG3. I have too many partially completed Act 1 variants of the same character and so little desire to replay all of the parts of Act 1 I have already played so might put that on ice until it once again feels fresh.
