Nanwum VII Update: 34,518
So I am well past the two-thirds mark and I'm only six days in. Yesterday I made another successful attempt to break my one-day word-count record, and I pulled it off. The new top score for me is 9383.
I think I already went over my planning for this, but I feel like I really need to capture this for future reference, so to summarize...
I took a bunch of time off work
I got as much IRL stuff done as I could in October
I'm planning writing hour-by-hour instead of day-by-day, which makes my schedules more realistic and practical.
I'm switching to some side-projects and personal writings whenever I get stuck on the main thing I'm working on, which helps maintain momentum.
Part of my plan was to schedule three attempts to break my one-day record, so that way if I fell short, I'd have another chance. But things went so well the first time, I decided to just go for the hat trick, and... yeah, so far so good. Try #3 is on Thursday, and if all goes as planned, I should hit 50k before the end of the week.
Beyond that, I have a Plan B if I crash and burn, or it makes for a nice overrun if I stay on schedule. But it's nice to put the first 34,000 words behind me no matter what happens next. In the past, I used to struggle a lot between 20 and 35k, and this year I've blown past it so quickly that it's not even a factor.
It's a little spooky, really. I'm kind of waiting for some downside to reveal itself, or I'll just collapse into a burnt-out husk at the end of this. But let's be real, I've been doing this for several years now. And when I'm not working on one of these, I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to improve my performance. Is it any mystery that this got easier for me? Maybe it won't last, but it's not a weird twist of fate that I got to this level.
I will admit that the isolation is starting to take a toll, but it's nothing I haven't dealt with before. Right, Nappa?

#nanwum vii#i really need to respond to the ao3 comments in my inbox#i kind of fell out of that.... three years ago?#your feedback is always appreciated even if i don't get around to replying#just want to throw that out there

20 Fanfic Author Questions
Thank you so much @anincompletelist and @caterpills for tagging me!! These are fun and I haven't done one in while, so :)
1. How many works on AO3?
77 !!
2. Total AO3 Word Count?
481,726
3. Top 5 fics by Kudos
but daddy, you love him
this is the first time I've felt the need to confess
we broke all the pieces (still wanna play the game)
can this be a real thing (can it?)
one single thread of gold tied me to you
4. What fandoms do you write for?
Red, White, and Royal Blue now! I have written for others in the past but I'm a hyperfixation girlie at my core so just that one :)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I haven't always, but I do now! Sometimes I get behind but I try to go through my inbox and knock some comments out at least once or twice a week.
6. Angstiest Ending?
I don't really do angsty/not happy endings - it's not in my capability, honestly? you can run (but only so far) was angsty up to VERY close to the ending but that's probably the best I can do
7. Fic with the Happiest Ending?
I ALMOST answered this with gay chicken just because they do get a... happy ending. i'm SORRY.
Probably the but daddy, you love him universe - the third installment especially is just sob-worthy happy. (although, perhaps that third installment isn't their final story, either)
8. Do you get hate?
I did get one guest comment once telling me to kill myself? But otherwise not really - I'm really grateful for it, too.
9. Do you write smut?
I do!! I didn't in previous fandoms and didn't when I started with RWRB, but I've got a few now and have a multichap coming soon that is VERY smutty. I've gotten a lot more comfortable with it and it's a nice tool to have, although works don't need smut to be good and I like choosing to do stories without it still, too.
10. Do you write crossovers?
I do not - the hyperfixation is too real.
11. Ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
A few, yeah!! it's super cool. I'm always very enthusiastically supportive of people doing this.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Not yet!! but there may be a doc that exists where someone says "okay hear me out" every five seconds
14. All time favourite ship?
excuse you
probably captain swan but don't tell firstprince i said that
15. WIPs you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
oooh. i have a handful of multichap ideas/outline docs that like, just odds are that not all of them get written. not sure which ones, but I'm sure at least one of them will wind up not working out.
16. Writing strengths?
Dialogue!! my go-to beta thinks it's because I did theater in college and took script writing classes which are dialogue heavy, but I LOVE putting dialogue together. sometimes when i'm in the process of writing, I'll do dialogue skeletons just to feel successful in writing and go back later to add exposition and fill everything out.
17. Writing Weaknesses?
other than having sort of favorite words that I tend to overuse, I think my main weakness is emotional weight in stories. I've read so many fics where I'm practically gasping for breath at the end because it's really hit me in the heart, and I just don't think my writing has that? I tend to think my best writing is when I'm being funny or cute, writing in banter and etc, and when I try to do something heavy or emotional it never feels like it's quite got the same punch to it as what I wanted.
18. Thoughts on mixed language dialogue?
Love reading it - I don't typically write it because of time and not knowing any languages other than English and American Sign Language - which isn't easy to put into a fic. I've looked up small lines before for specific purposes and checked with someone who knows the language, but it's not something I typically have the time to do right - and I am NOT going to do it wrong.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
oh my god. high school musical. don't fucking look at me.
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
Can I say a WIP that I haven't posted yet?? I'm gonna say a WIP I haven't posted yet :)
no pressure tags! @agostobuwan @bitbybitwrites @blueeyedgrlwrites @clockwrkpendrxgon @dreamtigress @everwitch-magiks @fckngyrs @firenati0n @fullsunsets @henryspearl @heysweetheart-writes @hgejfmw-hgejhsf @inexplicablymine @itsmaybitheway @jmagnabo92 @kj-bee @miharaikko @milowren29 @myheartalivewrites @ninzied @nontoxic-writes @onthewaytosomewhere @orchidscript @pinkamour1588 @porcelainmortal @priincebutt @read-and-write- @softboynick @sophie1973 @stellarmeadow @suseagull5914 @thesleepyskipper @thighzp @thinkof-england @tinyarmedtrex @wordsofhoneydew

It's been an honor...

After some thinking, I have decided that due to some personal things, I will be taking a Writing Hiatus. I don't know how long it will be, but figuring my last one was for over two years, there is a pretty good chance this one will be a couple months at the least.
All my mutuals on Tumbler, and friends on Discord, it's been an honor writing and getting to know you guys. I thought I should tag all of you so that you guys, don't worry if I stop posting. The flash fests, sprints, collab works, tag games, posts, and everything else were amazing and I had so much fun with you guys! I wasn't planning on taking this break until this morning, a lot has happened and I really need a break. But I am still going to read your works, share them, and leave comments.
Some things that I would like to point out before I stop writing:
I will not leave Tumbler, so feel free to tag me in stuff! I might not post/reblog as much as I used to, but I will still try to get on. Please know that I have a lot of posts in my queue currently, so it'll take about a week for them all to be posted.
You can still message me here on Tumbler, or on Discord. I will still be checking both of those accounts. Though I might be a bit slower for Tumbler.
I will still be a beta for your works and will continue to help you with it. I am not stopping being a beta, I'm just stopping writing. I will be taking fewer beta roles, though.
I will still be a mod for @pjo-equinox-solstice-exchange, and will still write a gift fic for the spring exchange.
I am still going to run @character-a-character-b, and all the Tumbler blog and the events that go along with it.
I will be going through my inbox soon and responding to any message I have there.
I will not be posting any of my works on AO3. I might decide to edit some of them and make them available for viewing again, but I will not be posting any new ones.
I will not be deleting any of my works. The last time I took a hiatus, I didn't delete anything, and I'm not going to this time. Yes, some of my fics were moved to collections where they cannot be viewed at this time, I was editing them but didn't have a chance to finish them.
I will not be deleting any of the requests that people have asked me for. They are so good, and I would love to write them when I am happier with writing. I am not leaving any of the Discord servers or Tumblr Communities I am a part of.
My last work as of now will be for @rynrising44 Flash Fest for @character-a-character-b. I posted a couple days ago before I decided to take a break. It will still be released as part of the event.
You can still give me asks for the writer asks game. Even if I'm not writing fanfiction, I'm still writing a novel so I don't mind talking about it! You can find them here!
I will not be taking part in any events other than, @pjo-equinox-solstice-exchange. There are a couple of events that I would like to take part in later this year, but I'm not sure if I am not going to take part in them.
I will still be approving comments on AO3. So feel free to leave them on any of the works I have posted there.
If you have any questions about this, you can always reach out to me.
I'm going to take this time to focus on my studies and the novel I am co-writing. I am going to come back to writing fanfiction, I have been since for years, but for now, I just need a break. I hope everyone can understand and I look forward to when am ready to join all of you in writing about our favorite characters.

20 Questions for Fanfic Writers
Tagged by @ollypopwrites and @razildor and I am procrastinating my negotiations analyses and 500 pp reading (whyyyyy don't do grad school, kids).
Lemme just tag @silshinobii because I cannot stop thinking about Sugar and Spores and its offshoot because it brought me Thirst Trapping!Emmrich. If @emmg or @farore05 need to procrastinate along with me, by all means.
1) How many works do you have on AO3? Ten. Fuck me.
2) What’s your AO3 word count? Aww dammit this needs math. 126,632. Granted that's been since 2013, so.
3) What are your top five fics by Kudos?-
Pater Noster, Pater Volkarin (god I really do not really like this one anymore now that I'm about to wrap up Coastline and its two sequels but eh)
Coastline Variations
The Internship
The Marriage of Volkarin and Rook
and fucking Magebane? Wowwww.
4) What fandoms do you write for? Honestly the idea of writing for anything that isn't Dragon Age terrifies the shit out of me because I genuinely don't know anything as well as I do that, so. Just DA.
5) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I am trying very hard to do so. Because I love them. I hoard them. When I am stuck I go back to them to see what people liked. But for the next two months my real life is going to be shit-tastic so I should probably schedule time to do just comments. Because I LOVE THEM.
6) What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? [laughs in The Internship] Or maybe the extremely short thing I wrote for Hellblazer but that's so short IDK.
7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? It's going to be The Marriage of Volkarin and Rook once I finish it. Because c'mon.
8) Do you get hate on fics? No but I got some weird shit in my Tumblr inbox today?
9) Do you write smut? My god, I'm trying:
I wrote a lot of SebHawke smut for a while because that's what I was hyperfixated on in the worst of a decade-long depression. (DA2 probably saved me, y'all.)
But almost everything I write for EmmRook is smut because I'm sorry, have you seen that necromancer? Andraste wept when she saw Dat Ass. But I am ... trying to be better at smut. There is some AMAZING stuff in the EmmRook ao3/tumblr space. I'm glad to be a part of it and give back by working on my smut.
10) Do you write crossovers? No but I got really stoned once and came up with the idea that a Agatha All Along and American Gods and The Sandman crossover would be hella fun. And then the writer of two of those things broke my goddamn heart.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen? No. I do see like a detail that I put in that ripples somewhere else every now and again but there is no fucking way I'm the one that started any of these, and I don't own shit, so, have at ye.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated? No, wait, that's a thing?
13) Have you ever cowritten a fic before? No but I hope I do @bankabb proud soon. Also, do brainworms from @emmg count? Because I've done a few of those.
14) What’s your all-time favorite ship? EEESH. I do not write for Hannigram, but I was there in the Flower Crown era of the fandom and it was glorious. I love it. EmmRook is quickly becoming a big favorite because the community around it has been amazing. I was there for Superwholock and I still have the scars.
I am also the current boatswain of the Emmrich/Dorian ship.
15) What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Oh, fuck me. I have something called Open Fire, which I had on the DAKM when it was still on LJ so it was in pieces everywhere. It was a DA2 AU that started with three little words: "Corporal Sebastian Vael."
I also have The Light Remains, which was going to be Sebastian coming to rescue Hawke from when she was trapped in the Fade but I genuinely don't see myself finishing it.
16) What are your writing strengths? I genuinely could not tell you. Ich habe keine Ahnung.
17) What are your writing weaknesses? Smut and long paragraphs.
18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic? Attempted, because Orlesian is basically French and it's one of my half-dozen languages (and the one I know best next to English and my ancestral tongue). I can probably try Italian. The Asian languages notsomuch.
19) First fandom you wrote for? Dragon Age, my beauty. I'm still here. Oh have we said Fuck You EA yet? Because fuck you, EA.
20) Favorite fic you’ve written? The Internship was a favorite for a good while, because I had quite a bit of experience to write from. But honestly I still love the character that has become Tara Fucking Thorne so I'll still love writing her. She talks like I do.
All my love, vic 🖤

It's about community, y'all.
I’ve found myself recently in a fandom interaction that has left me feeling very uncomfortable, and I want to talk about it.
I will not be sharing usernames or fic names, so please do not publicly mention who they are if you figure out who this is.
About a month ago, I was messaged by an account that doesn’t follow me, asking me to read their friend’s fic. The initial message was very flattering–their friend was a big fan of my work, and it would be so nice for them to get a comment from me on it. Honestly, it was such a sweet message, and I said I was busy right then, but I’d make time to read it.
When I opened the fic, it was a username that I didn’t recognize. Which is not terribly surprising, but I do recognize and notice regular commenters and people who regularly interact with me on Tumblr. (Which, by the way, is a good thing. These people all have a special place in my heart, and I love seeing their interactions.) This person also had no other fics published to AO3, and no bookmarks on their account.
I am an email hoarder, which means that every comment, kudo, and tumblr follow I get an email notification for is still stored in my email. I searched my inbox for the writer’s username, and nothing came up. I don’t mean nothing significant, I mean not one single comment, kudos, or follow from the account. I searched the account who messaged me, and got the same result. No one single comment, kudo, or follow.
The thing that may not be immediately obvious from the outside is that many writers connect with each other as well. We share fic recs, snippets, and plot bunnies. We also talk about comments that we love, fans that we enjoy seeing in our notes, and significant interactions.
Which is to say that the first thing I did was drop this fic with an explanation of what happened into the “fic recs” channel of our discord. Immediately, I find out that this is not a unique situation. Many of the writers in that discord were also approached, either by the actual writer or a friend, and asked to read it.
I messaged the account again and asked if their friend was operating under a new username because I didn’t recognize them. Which is valid and I know people change their usernames sometimes. The friend responded that they did, but that the friend wouldn’t like them sharing it. I looked into the tumblr that messaged me then, and the account had been set up one singular day before they messaged me, with nothing more than a few art reblogs on their blog.
At this point, I’m getting a really weird feeling from this, and I decide to just not respond anymore. I’m not going to call them out, but I’m also not going to engage.
Yesterday, the “friend’s” account sent me another message, asking if I’d read it and telling me again that they can give their friend’s old account name if I really want it. They also mention that their friend read through and commented on a bunch of my older fics–which they did. Between May 24 and June 1, they left 17 comments on some of the very first fics I ever wrote and published. However, the way she tells me this feels very much like a quid pro quo - I commented, now where’s yours?
I jumped back into the discords of some of my mutuals, and asked about this again. It turns out that all of us have gotten a weird vibe from them, and that this all feels like such a manipulative, creepy way to ask for exposure on your fic.
And, because I’m me and needed more information, I went back to their fic and looked through the comments and bookmarks.
There’s an ongoing discussion in many writer’s circles about interactions being lower, particularly comments, which you’ve probably seen crop up around Tumblr as well. While I don’t want to rehash this discussion here, the basic consensus is that most established writers are seeing fewer comments than ever, even when there’s a significant number of kudos.
This fic has a not insignificant number of kudos, but a surprisingly large amount of comments and bookmarks, comparatively. Enough that just seeing the stats shocked me. I looked through the comments and saw lots of well known fandom writers, as well as some otherwise blank accounts. It strikes me as very odd–especially from a new, blank account and for a one shot without chapters to build up an audience.
I jumped back in the discord and asked my mutuals about this again. Several people described really weird interactions with this individual. I heard stories about this person being really flattering when they initially reached out, vaguely complimenting the writer, then completely ghosting after the writer comments on their fics.
I’ve debated for a bit about whether to post on this or not. The entire interaction has left such a bad taste in my mouth. I’ve no doubt that the writer and their friend are the same person, and I suspect some of their comments are fabricated as well. It’s elaborate, to a weird degree, and I feel so uncomfortable by it.
The thing is, I love talking to people who have read my work. I love getting sent a fic rec. I read so little at this point just due to life and limited time that basically everything I read is something a mutual wrote or something recommended to me. I also really love the “it would mean so much to me if you read this” message, but only if it’s genuine. I have read first fics of new writers who sent me their own work, with their name attached, and asked me to.
Fandom writing is a community, and that works best when we have a little give and take. But when you’re out there manipulating interactions, building up fake flattery to only not follow through, that breaks down our community. It’s unfortunate, manipulative, and honestly, a bit creepy.
I don’t know if they just thought we (the writing community) wouldn’t notice, but we did. I’ve talked to other writers about this, and if any of my mutuals had a similar experience, I’d love to hear about it.
To my “friend” who wrote this fic, I know you’re proud of your fic, but you’re not doing yourself any favors with this behavior. I will not be reading it. I also will not be responding to you or “your friend” any further. I wish you luck, and I hope you find what you’re looking for.

do you respond to comments? why or why not?
i try my best to! but i don't always have the time or energy to respond so my replies can be... a little delayed sometimes.

definitely bleeding heart dove or oolong that i just posted today haha. something about late winter/early spring makes me want to... kill my characters i guess? i don't know.
what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
the skeleton fic. i just felt like it deserved a happy ending after all... gestures vaguely. that.
do you get hate on fics?
people yell at me in my inbox sometimes but it's mostly positive, so no. knocks on wood.

what are your writing weaknesses?
i'm not always very good at planning ahead. i like to see where the story takes me but sometimes this makes me run into walls.

Fanfic writer interview!
tagged by @ashenaura. Merci bien ! ;)
How many works do you have on AO3?
145.
Your top 5 stories by kudos/likes:
I'll Follow
Where The Heart Is
Your World
Everything and More
Brittlest
(... yup, it's all SAU and those numbers will never not shock me)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Of course. It might take me forever (my inbox is staring at me dead in the eyes), but I will respond. It means the world to me and if anyone makes the effort, they deserve a response. Easy.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I need happy endings with my angst so... yeah. I think... Yesterday I died (tomorrow's bleeding) is quite sad.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
I guess the SAU has the happiest ending. Everything And More's last chapter is literally sunshine and calmness which, yk, is needed after the whole thing.
Do you write crossovers?
I've just gotten into it! I didn't see the hype before but um that was because I never tried to mash together the right verses I think. The Arkham Horror x Black Clover crossover is very dear to me.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
*touching wood* Nope.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I've written steamy but never full smut. Well, I've written bits. But they're unpublished and I don't think I ever will publish them soooo yeah.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge, no.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Someone translated Her Most Precious Memories in Russian (Её самые драгоценные воспоминания).
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Just like crossovers, I'm just getting into it. And just like crossovers, I'm absolutely loving it.
@kalolasfantasyworld knows. We've written that Olympics Swimming one, Silver Scorching Interdimensional Slash: the Magical Medley Relay of Doom, and we're writing the most wonderful Formula for a Crush.
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
All time favorite... royai probably.
it's just the angst... it's just the sillies... it's just the war criminals... there's a dog... they're both so stupid... i love them...
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
fhjfhds all of them. If I start a wip it's that I want to see it finished (because I want to read it). Sadly, I often don't have the motivation to. The wip list is ever growing.
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and internal monologues, I think.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Besides everything syntax and grammar-related because what even is English, I'd say description, especially of action scenes. It takes me forever to even dare put down a few words and I always feel like I'm describing like a 7yo would (no shade to 7yo but surely with 20 more years on this planet I should be able to do better).
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I did it in Formula for a Crush for Vanessa and Helena because Helena typically does it so it felt normal to As long as it's one word or one expression I don't really mind. (my Italian is non-existent and my Spanish is uhhh not good so, there's that.).
In my own work, I prefer to keep it in English and italicize. Less risk to completely fumble a whole language.
(I just realized that Zora doesn't even utter one word in French in FFAC and I'm French [I dare think I can speak and write the language relatively well]. so it's less down to messing up a language than personal preferences in writing ig..? I never really thought about it.)
What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
Nothing comes to mind. Rarepair Week was a great occasion to tick some of these boxes too.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
I've had this question ten thousand times and I think I reply differently every time dhjfdjskj. It's a tough one.
Right now I'm having a lot of fun with Formula for a Crush (nah, you can't tell with how much I'm talking about it).
what even is football anyway will always be very dear to me and I'll probably say it's this one.
Blue Hours (and its sequel, I might even like the sequel more simply for the rant about the dishes) is special because I loved the concept and I experienced a bit with the narration.
Thicker Than Blood because it's a longer one and it was a really non-pressure kind of fic (I expected no one to read it so I really had fun)
Yesterday I died (tomorrow's bleeding) and posing questions to a silent universe (my very thoughts a curse) for some nice Mia angst.
Lost in a storm, It’s a big office, chief, for some nice Phoenix angst.
Tell Me About Cruelty means a lot to me.
(you might realize: I cannot choose. I'm looking at the 145 fics and I'm like. they're all special to me in some way. even those I wish I could erase from the face of the earth I'm like. I like that line, that scene, that hug. it's terrible and it's wonderful.)

20 Questions for Fic Writers
tagged by @screamlet (who I've been reading since at least 2010). Thank you!
1. How many works do you have an AO3? 48
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 711,517
3. What fandoms do you write for? 911 LS, and 911
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Long Story Short (series) - LS A home isn't always the house we live in - LS It came without ribbons! - LS Always Wear Your Invisible Crown - LS Awful quiet here since love fell asleep - 911
5. Do you respond to comments? I really try to, sometimes I think they get lost in my inbox, but I do try.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? uh, none of them? I don't think I've written anything that doesn't have a happy ending.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? hmmm, maybe It came without ribbons?, or Knave 4 (The Knave of Clubs ... swears he'll take her part). They both end in marriage proposals.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Just a few on Knave 4, which I expected and mostly ignored.
9. Do you write smut? more often than I ever imagined I would
10. Do you write crossovers? I love a good crossover. Haven't written one yet, but would enjoy it.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of. Let's keep it that way. (finger's crossed)
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? no
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yup! All the 911 stuff with @cecilyv - nothing better.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Well, I don't publish WIPs, not because I have an ethical stance on it, but because I'm usually still changing things at the beginning right up until I hit post and I don't understand how people post things as they write them. Not my process.
That being said, there's a LS kidfic that I'd like to finish some day, but every time I look at it I can't figure out where it's going.
16. What are your writing strengths? I feel like this is a thing other people need to tell me? Dialogue? Plot (apparently? or so 200,000 words of Knave-verse would like me to believe).
17. What are your writing weaknesses? brevity
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I'd like to do more of it, because I have characters I write who I think probably do think in another language, but it's not a language I speak, so I don't.
19. First fandom you wrote for? published? Lonestar. unpublished? there's a Merlin story @cecilyv and I wrote for years that is mostly not great, but has it's moments.
20. Favorite fics you've written? ooh, okay:
There were a bunch I wrote early for LS that are kind of character studies that I love - A home isn't always the house we live in (Judd), Stitched with its color (TK & 9/11), and through same of am through haves of give (Enzo)
And, I'd be lying if I didn't say Knave-verse, because I think Knave 2 and Knave 4 are the best things I've ever written - and there is just so much of me in the way TK thinks about art.
And then Baggage That Goes with Mine - because there isn't necessarily me in there, but there is a lot of my history in fandom and the huge cultural shift that I have seen happen since I started reading fic in Tommy's story. Also, I do love me a split timeline narrative.

Fanfiction Author Interview Game
thank you for the tag @moonheavens i loved snooping on your answers hehe <3
How many works do you have on AO3?
seven at the moment! that will change pretty soon...
What's your total AO3 word count?
105,014 but that's because it's counting my hidden works! (about time and my jegbb)
Your top 5 stories by kudos/likes:
archenemies (or so he thought) | if you care for me pls don't read this lmao, this was my first born and it's... yeah, please don't. (somehow this is my work with the most hits which is terrible)
Don't threaten me with a good time | the sequel of archenemies, same warning lol
When it rains | I liked how this one turned out, it's silly and lovely and it has pastries which is nice so, yeah!
Some sunny day | oh this one, this one is so soft and so sweet, the fluffiest of fluffs. it has mexican james, chilean remus, little harry and little luna <3 a day at the beach <3
light as a feather, soft as a kiss | my first drarry <3 love a good pinning and pathetic draco just as the next guy
(shout out to as warm as the calabrian sun that was one kudos away from making it to this list)
Do you respond to comments?
I do but not as often as I should, I have a lot of unanswered comments in my inbox but one of my goals for this year is to answer all of them, I love comments and I have this idea that maybe people don't comment because they see I don't answer comments that often :/
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
I wouldn't say the angstiest ending because i like happy endings but slow dancing in the dark is the angstiest fic I have, though i want to believe it's more of a hopeful ending :•) (the people who read it might disagree)
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
like i said, i like happy endings but if I have to choose, maybe some sunny day, it's has a pretty sweet ending I think!
Do you write crossovers?
not really, no!
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
nope!
Do you write smut?
I have but it's not posted yet! you can get back to me a month from now tho...
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that I know of!
Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
no but I’m waiting for my friends to shoot the shot with me…….
What's your all-time favorite ship?
drarry my beloveds <3
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
The Empire of the Sun, it was a big project of mine, one i really liked! it was a jegulus dystopian au, I had the whole idea drafted but I've seen how people treat fics and authors in this fandom, specifically with this pairing and that kinda made me. not want to continue writing it, honestly. Also it's a big ass fic so, I don't think I'll ever finish it anyway.
What are your writing strengths?
I think maybe inner dialogue, I like to ramble a lot inside my little puppet's head so, probably that. I'm kind of an oblivious self-deprecating author so I'm very Unaware of these things.
What are your writing weaknesses?
A year ago I would've said my inability to finish anything but that's not true anymore so, probably the lack of flexibility, sometimes i want something to make sense and i research and I spiral that something is not quite right when in reality this is fucking fiction and i need to calm down and remember is not that serious!! (also long ass sentences like this one... not even a comma im Insane)
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
All in, I even have dialogue in french and spanish in my fics so. I particularly appreciate it when the author leaves the translation in the notes so i know what they're talking about hehe
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
Good Omens, I have a azicrow/ineffable husband's fic in my drafts so, maybe that will see the light of day someday! also, Agatha All Along, agathario, those two tempt me to write something for them....
What's your favorite fic you've written?
About Time, Scars and the Brightest Stars, that fic is like, my baby and I'm so proud of how is coming along! can't wait for you to read it!!!
no pressure tags: @static-radio-ao3 @residentrookie @ecstarry @kaaaaaaarf @aeoneskova @rae-lune @inevitablestars @velanavis @emlovessid @itsjaywalkers and OPEN TAG!!
#it took me a lot to write this but I enjoyed it!! it was so much fun!!#tag game#loops plays a game#my fics

Writing tag game!
Thanks so much @moonlightfrogsandkisses and @caramelpenguin for tagging me <33
1.How many works do you have on AO3?
42
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
167,462
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Young Royals <3
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
...I am going to limit this to my YR fics because I don't really want to link my old 1D fic on here
Did you give yourself away again? I love her, featuring angsty jealous Simon working through getting hate and keeping it from Wilhelm.
Falling for you This was my first ever YR fic! Based on a real life story from @irenes-diary where Wille faints in the supermarket and Simon comes to the rescue
Awkward University AU with sad angsty FWB Simon/Wille where Simon wants more and Wille is sort of stringing him along
All the rules to this game I bend Written for the 'hands' prompt for Wille's month 2024, fluff where Simon and Wille deal with silly comments on the size difference between their hands together.
If you want to My most recent fic featuring frustrated pillow princess Simon and more than willing to deliver Wille.
5. Do you respond to comments?
I do, sometimes it takes me a while and I go somewhat out of order - I prefer to answer all the comments on the same fic at once, for example, rather than going through my inbox in order. If you leave me a comment I will love you forever that's the way it works <3
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably Awkward or Baby I know how to use a gun, for very different reasons
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think people were pretty happy with the ending in To hold on longer (sequel of To hold in return), however it still feels like it needs a part III. I just think there's so much love and possibility with this one.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Erm.. it has happened before, but more so for fic ideas than what I've actually written.
9. Do you write smut?
Yessssss ;;;))))
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I haven't but I wouldn't be against it!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Don't think so
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I've gotten requests but I don't know if that actually happened
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not yet...
14. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I plan to finish all my current WIPs!!! I don't know how long it will take but I love those guys and I want them to live on
15. What are your writing strengths?
I have been told I'm an atmospheric writer and I think it might be that? Like I really like to embed the way the scene looks and feels in my head into my writing. I have also been told I am a bit sick in the head with my angsty scenarios and I appreciate that feedback, it tells me I'm doing smth right :-)
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Editing, editing, editing, dialogue, continuity, and finishing WIPs. Lol.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I've done a bit of it! I think YR is fun because there are many opportunities to do so, though I do get a bit nervous that I'll get something wrong.
18. First fandom you wrote for?
One Direction
19. Favorite fic you’ve written?
This is hard. She's kind of my problem child at the moment, but probably You Kill Me.
This was fun! I think many have done this by now but just tagging some folks @allthefakepeople @andthatisnotfake @espejonight28738 @rose-and-clover @enjoythesilentworld

author interview
ty for the tags @veryinnovative & @magswrite <33
how many works do you have on ao3?
so like. 8 on spacexcowgirl, plus one hidden for the jegbigbang. but, I also orphaned a tonnn of fics, and I have another account I forgot the password to, and I think that one had like 3? idk man. final answer 8 on spacexcowgirl.
what's your total ao3 word count?
318,862
your top 5 stories by kudos/likes:
we'll be just fine (even when I lose my mind)
foolish one
skinny-dip inside your mind
mutually assured destruction
where milk and honey flow
do you respond to comments?
I feel like I used to be better at it, but now I have a ton sitting in my inbox and have just forgotten :(
what's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
hm. realistically, none of them have been that angsty. I guess we'll be just fine? like it's a happy ending, but it's not exactly the most ideal for them.
what's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
most of them. like. they're all p happy.
I guess happiest is maybe foolish one? like lightest angst overall, just end up together. I dunno.
do you write crossovers?
no <3
have you ever received hate on a fic?
I don't think so !
do you write smut?
yes <3
have you ever had a fic stolen?
mmmmmm during my x reader days, I had people repost my work without permission on other sites, but like. that's it?
have you ever had a fic translated?
nope
have you ever co-written a fic before?
never one that's been published <3 maggie and I have our abandoned prongsfoot wip & ino and I have like two lines of a social media au. unfortunately I think how sporadic my motivation is doesn't lend well to co-writing
what's your all-time favorite ship?
probably drarry <3 like truly the best ff's I've ever read have been drarry ones
what's a wip that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
ha ha. ha ha ha. so. right.
all of them?
I just have lost a lot of my motivation for jegulus, and it makes me sad bc I know how all of my wips end, and sometimes when I get drunk or hear a certain song ill be like wow. need to write wmhf/mad RN. need to finish it. and then I never do.
unfortunately, wmhf would still require a lot to finish, and I just don't foresee myself having the motivation to do so. mad is slightly more likely, bc there's rly not much left.
anyone else but you I simply don't even think about it. might even take that one down.
what are your writing strengths?
I feel like I'm good with like communicating characters internal monologue and motivations?? maybe?? like I can really drive home how they're feeling about something or why they're doing something
what are your writing weaknesses?
descriptions <3 I see no images in my head and forget others do so I'm like oops. u guys probably wanna know what the room looks like. or what this guy looks like. I should probably tell u. and then I forget <3
what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
google translate <3
what's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
I really have lost a lot of motivation for fanfic writing in general, so it hasn't even been on my mind. I have an idea for a stsg fic but im unsure id ever write it. I also have a drarry draft that probably will never see the light of day bc im not confident in it.
what's your favorite fic you've written?
probably my big bang fic? idk. I was rereading that the other day and was like wow. love this. so maybe it's recency bias.

Fanfic Interview
I'm stealing this from @sliebman10 and encourage all the other fic writers to steal it too.
How many works do you have on AO3?
18 - though one of them is currently hidden
What's your total AO3 word count?
3,039,123
Your top 5 stories by kudos/likes:
The Wolf's Tail (currently not available)
It Wouldn't Be An Adventure Without You
Dark Things Are To Be Loved in Secret
A Grim Tale
Bite and Prejudice
... So all my Harry Potter fics, basically
Do you respond to comments?
I used to, but I've switched comments off on all my fics now.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
I have a one shot for Angel the Series called Twenty Years which is quite angsty throughout or a Harry Potter one shot called Letters to No One that ends on a heartbreaking note.
For longer fics, season 3 of my AtS rewrites ends in nothing but badness and for HP I guess Nearer, My God, To Thee, because it's a Titanic wolfstar rewrite and they're both dead at the end of it.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
A lot of my works tend to be part of a series, so they don't really end so much as reach a point where the story stops being told in one fic and then gets picked up again in the next. I think my fic with the simplest most traditional happy ending is Bite and Prejudice - as that's just Pride and Prejudice and wolfstar and has the Pride and Prejudice ending.
Do you write crossovers?
So far only once (not including Buffy/Angel which are the same universe) and that was still within the Whedonverse. One Night In A Bar On Deadwood is a Buffy/Angel/Firefly crossover one shot where Spike meets River in a bar, where the crew are making a delivery.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Never anything personal to me, but I have had angry comments from people spontaneously bashing characters (who had done nothing to deserve it within the fic - just from their own preconceptions), angry comments from people who are very upset that there is some form of conflict in a fic, as they don't seem to like there being story in their stories, and one incredibly rude James stan who must have read over 150 000 words of The Wolf's Tail (in one sitting based on the time stamps) who wrote comment after comment about how I was writing my fic wrong, and how much I clearly hated James (I don't - canon James is a non-entity and I have no opinion on him and I am very fond of my James) and basically just spammed my inbox with how much they didn't like my fic because it didn't match their headcanons for the entirety of the day.
Do you write smut?
Not if I can avoid it. I prefer fade to black. If I have to write a sex scene I prefer to focus on the emotion of what is happening than the mechanics so it's still not that smutty.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes - Maybeonedayshewillbefree translated It Wouldn't Be an Adventure Without You into Chinese and Red_Yennifer translated Letters to No One into Russian. I'm still so amazed, flattered and touched that anyone liked my writing well enough to spend their time translating my work so more people can enjoy it.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No - I don't play well with others
What's your all-time favorite ship?
Mulder and Scully (I think I would die if David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson got together in real life!) But I am satisfied with what we get of them in the X Files and so have never felt any need to write about them.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I have an unpublished WIP called "I Know What You Did Last Autumn" which is a sort of horror/ghost story that starts with Snape being killed in The Prank and Sirius covering it up. I'm not sure I'll ever get around to finishing it because I have so much other HP stuff to write that I expect I will be exhausted with HP by the time I have time to write it.
Over on Buffy I have Hunger Longing Jealousy and Guilt which is a canon divergent fic where - instead of the Thanksgiving episode we get in canon - Angel gets captured by the Initiative and the scoobies and Doyle/Cordy have to team up to save him. I'd love to finish it but I won't until I drift back from the HP fandom to the Buffy one... and if I do that then I won't finish all my planned wolfstar fics.
What are your writing strengths?
I don't overthink it. What you read on Ao3 is pretty much the first draft (editing is mostly correcting typos) - I write quickly and fluently and just sort of let the words appear. I think that comes from having plotted quite extensively/ having a good idea of where I want the story to go.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Making things properly sad. I can make myself cry when I write it but when I read it back it just doesn't hit. Scary and sad - I can't do them very well.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I've used other languages - especially in It Wouldn't Be An Adventure Without You, where wolfstar travel across Europe. Usually I only use other languages when the protagonist doesn't understand what is being said, because then it doesn't matter if the reader understands it or not either. If I want the reader to know what is being said in a foreign language then I write in English but put it in italics.
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
I did consider writing a Stranger Things fic over the summer - it would have centred my beloved Steve Harrington... but I don't think I will ever write it and don't feel any pressing need to dabble in Stranger Things at the moment (this may change if Steve does not survive s5)
What's your favourite fic you've written?
I can't pick one.
Though I did just finish re-reading Dark Things Are To Be Loved in Secret and really enjoyed it.

20 questions for fic writers!
thank you @minusboy and @chrysofightme for the tag!
how many works do you have on ao3?
18 so far!
what's your total ao3 word count?
247,895. nice :)
what are your top five fics by kudos?
friend please, don't take your life away from me
2. he ain't heavy, he's my brother
3. where we're from, there's no sun
4. do you like or like like me?
5. cotton candy (of course. i'm not even surprised tbh)
what fandoms do you write for?
so far i've written for haikyuu, bsd and death note. been having a Lot of one piece thoughts so i'll be dropping a one piece fic soon. dunno how soon but. Soon.
do you respond to comments? why or why not?
i try to respond go them all, but sometimes i lose track of time and let them sit in my inbox for a good while. but i always come back to them! just a week ago i responded go a comment from three months ago lol
what's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
darling, don't you weep for sure. one of my fav fics that was so fun to write
what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
my beautiful 82k iwaoi fic, till forever falls apart
do you get hate on fics?
i get threats made by my friends in my inbox after they read something good i wrote, but it's all very /pos and feeds my ego a lot. actual hate? thankfully, no.
do you write smut?
I tried... twice. came out terrible. deleted one and orphaned another i think? i dunno i try not to think of it. okay i mean like it wasn't Bad by regular standards but when it comes to writing i set pretty high standards for myself and it didn't reach up to that level. ALSO i didn't have much fun writing it. but i plan to write some good smut that i actually enjoy writing sometime in the future. i have learnt from my mistakes time to make my blorbos fuck nasty (while trying to not make it a character study and failing)
do you write crossovers?
nope! i've read some pretty good ones but so far i haven't felt very compelled to write any fics of that kind
have you ever had a fic stolen?
my work was reposted in some other site once, does that count? i think it was more of a bot thing than a person thing
have you ever had a fic translated?
nope! but it'd be awesome to have my stuff translated as long as i get credited :)
have you ever cowritten a fic before?
yes, twice. once with my beautiful spouse ali (we are alone, and all we need) which almost killed both of us. then me, vik, ela and sai created our awful terrible no good child cotton candy. to people who are wondering, yes, there will be a second chapter, we're just taking our time with it lol
what's your all time favourite ship?
ohhhh that's a hard one. it varies wildly from time to time but i would say iwaoi will always be special to me
what's the wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
hmm i dunno i started writing this post apocalypse skk fic a while ago and it had some pretty sick scenes. it would be really great if I finished writing it, which I won't lmao
what are your writing strengths?
i like messing with formatting, if that's anything. it almost always ends up good. it's really really fun to play with words and symbolism and all that jazz. i also think i'm good with writing intense emotions and picking apart a character's psyche.
what are your writing weaknesses?
oughhh consistency. sometimes i go insane and write 10k in 3 days (been a while since I did that tho) and sometimes i drag out one chapter update for more than 6 months (sorry, navarasam. I'll come back to you i swear on my life). oh and im not great with action sequences.
thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
if you mean any other language than english, then yeah sure. love it, very fun. i haven't written any yet, but i did name and base my fic, navarasam's, theme in tamil concepts.
first fandom you wrote for?
that i posted? haikyuu. that i ever wrote? ...no, i shan't say.
favourite fic you've ever written?
oohhh that's a hard one. i love all my fics very much because i have this policy of don't like don't write. i just don't bother writing/posting something i don't adore. that being said, my death note light yagami & sayu yagami character study fic (dollhouse. oohh you wanna read this fic so bad) was SO fun to write. it also helps that it's an absolute banger. so yeah i guess you can say i had the most fun writing that one.
as for tags (no pressure ofc)- @feralshadowdemon , @justadino-ig , @mithrilwren , @softzosan , @valleykey , @itowhotypes and anyone who wants to try this out :)

Ten Questions for Writers
Thanks for the tags @shrekgogurt, @artsyunderstudy, @youarenevertooold, & @roomwithanopenfire I’m enjoying all this navel-gazing a whole bunch actually & I’ve done this before but it’s been awhile… sooo
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 169 (niiiice)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? ~950k (yikes) although some of that is Birthday Man and collabs with people from WIP fest. Don’t ask me to do the math tho; that’s mean.
3. What fandoms do you write for? I’ve written for HP, Check Please, and RWRB although right now I’m mostly a CO writer with a toe dipping into 9-1-1. I have one Captain America fic posted and some WIPs I don’t know if I’ll finish. Nobody look at that AFTG fic; it’s pure crack.
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Whoo boy do I have thoughts here. I want to be the kind of writer who replies to comments and I harbor so much guilt that I’m not; I know I miss out on opportunities to connect with readers, and I genuinely appreciate comments so much; I hoard them in my inbox like a greedy lil affirmation dragon. I write to engage and connect. So, like, I know I should but at the same time I hate forcing interactions. I like them to spawn organically. I keep my circle small because I get really emotionally overwhelmed and then I feel guilty when I can’t give people what they deserve. And I’ve also never been comfortable with compliments or gratitude, I don’t trust them. So here’s a bulk of emotional trauma no one asked for to say: I don’t reply to comments as often as I feel I should and I’m trying to release the guilt I feel about this while also recognizing that not commenting probably has a direct negative affect on my ability to meet my goal of connecting through writing and at the same time my mental health probably couldn’t withstand the pressure I would need to place on it to get to where I’m replying to comments regularly. Hi I’m a mess who’s trying to love herself and often falls short of that goal; aren’t we all?
5. Have you ever had a fic stolen? No.
6. Have you ever co-written a fic before? So many actually! I didn’t think I’d ever get to a place where I trust someone else to the level this would take but I’ve been really lucky to work with some amazing writers even if not all of those works went anywhere. I actually don’t even think I could realistically tag all the people I’ve collabed with bc I’m afraid I’ll miss someone and isn’t that amazing? Personal growth; we love to see her.
7. What’s your all-time favorite ship? Oh man. I want to just be lame and say it’s me and Mr. Face 🤣 I shipped us when no one else did. Um! Snowbaz is always going to have a special place in my heart, but I’m really leaning into Buddie right now because of age and wanting to explore people in their 30’s still figuring out their lives while battling PTSD and late-in-life sexuality realizations. For, um. Reasons.
8. What are your writing strengths? I do like my dialogue a lot; dialogue is often where I start my scenes and I develop from there. I think I’ve done a good job of honing my ability to vary action/dialogue/internality a lot. I also think I keep people engaged or maybe I just keep myself engaged which is good enough for me. Sometimes I’m funny although sadly not as much recently.
9. What are your writing weaknesses? I struggle with remembering to add in physical descriptors. (Like oh shit have I ever mentioned this character has eyes?) Logistics are a frequent source of pain. (Wait, where were their hands?) I think my plots are kind of basic and boring; I don’t come up with really vivid and detailed concepts. I use the wrong words for things. I really hate detailing out backstory. I have to reread my fics a million times to maintain character consistency. Etc.
10. First fandom you wrote for? Hey Arnold. I wish I could find those fics; I bet they suck.

Fanfic writer interview
Thank you @sotwk for tagging me! I did this back in April but I've written quite a few fics since then so let's go!
How many works do you have on AO3? 14
What's your total AO3 word count? 54,851
Your top 5 stories by kudos/likes:
I feel like this has likely not changed since last time XD
Victory in Defeat (Faramir/Éowyn)
White Blossom (Boromir & OC)
A Monster in the Shadows (Éowyn & Théoden)
The Power of Tea (Gilraen & Bilbo)
At the Death of a Friend (Galadriel & Saruman)
(The People have spoken. They want Farawyn swordfights and Boromir to be happy and alive.)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! Although I may take a while to get to it due to life in general (or I'm staring lovingly at your comment, whispering 'my preciousssss' like Gollum with the Ring, unwilling to relinquish it from my inbox, it's mine, it's mine, it came to me! ... ahem).
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
the plain sight of our destiny is the cruellest thing of all - yeah, hope and joy are not really on the menu in Sauron-era Umbar.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
The Face of Spring ... if we ignore canon (which I did while writing it, because I am deluded). This fic is basically an increasingly rapid slide into complete joy (again, don't look at the canon). Otherwise probably Victory in Defeat. (I find it kind of neat that both of these fics feature members of the House of Eorl being absolutely head-over-heels in love with their partner. Because that is the true meaning of happiness.)
Do you write crossovers?
No.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Nope.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No, although never say never. I never thought I'd write darkfic but here we are.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. And I am a control freak so I doubt it would be a good idea.
What's your all-time favorite ship?
*gestures helplessly at Farawyn* It's kind of my thing.
(Although my uncle has told me that watching Battlestar Galactica will rewire my brain in this department. Check back in a few months to see if he knows what he's talking about.)
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
A Hunger Games fic from a few years ago. I love the characters dearly but there isn't really enough plot to hold it together.
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, I think, and descriptions of emotion.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Any descriptive passages. Why can't I just project my vision into my readers' brains? Why? (Although I have been informed by @from-the-coffee-shop-in-edoras that I write disgusting grime and water-logged corpses very well :D)
I also hate outlining which is objectively bad because outlining helps so much.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Full sentences? No. The odd phrase in Sindarin/Quenya? Sure.
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
The Fall of the House of Usher. That show is still eating my brain and I need to exorcise some of my thoughts. I don't know if I'll end up posting anything or if it will be coherent enough to post but I'm gonna have a crack at it the minute all the vitamins I'm taking kick in and I have energy again.
What's your favorite fic you've written?
I love all my fics for different reasons but at the moment I'm feeling particularly proud of out of the water, cold and blue, because it was just such an experience to write and I am so, so happy with how it turned out. I really enjoyed torturing writing Tar-Míriel and Elendil and their terrible, tragic, twisted dynamic very normal lord-vassal conversation.
tagging @from-the-coffee-shop-in-edoras @aredhels @queerofthedagger @dilettantefeminist @mithrandirl @welcomingdisaster @swanmaids if you'd like to do this!

thank you @therealsaintscully for tagging me !! i always love writing tag games asjdfajsdf
how many works do you have on ao3?
on naturechild, i have 8. on my older, multi-fandom account (jamestkirk) i have 13. thennnn i have 2 orphaned ones in the star wars fandom & then on an ancient one i abandoned in 2014 i have 21. and i know i orphaned at LEAST 3 others at some point. so that's... like 44?
what’s your total word count?
141,179 on naturechild, 139,838 on jamestkirk, and then i have no idea what the password for my old one is so idk there. but at least 281,017. even though i had 21 on that super old one, they were all really short, and the orphaned ones i have are only a few thousand each. so probably around like the 290-300k mark.
what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
and oh, my heart was flawed (aziraphale/crowley)
is it a great or little thing we fought? (han/luke)
i'm not trying to write a love song (steve/bucky)
and all i ever knew (only you) (aziraphale/crowley)
the star to every wandering bark (aziraphale/crowley) (abandoned)
do you respond to comments? why/why not?
i try to !! i certainly read them all. i tend to get overwhelmed easily by responding to people, like just in general, so like any inbox i have (email, text, tumblr, discord, etc) i have a ton i haven't replied to. but i try for the first few weeks after a fic drops at least fjsdfjasdf
what's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
oh hm. well, i need you (never leave me alone) ends on an angsty note but there's the third installment planned where john survives getting shot and they wind up fine, so while the fic ends sad their arc isn't. so with that excluded, your midas touch (quentin/eliot) is probably the winner. it's just really angsty sex where they aren't together but they know they want to be together but eliot turned quentin down (like in canon for those of u who were wise enough to not watch the magicians) so it's just. smut and sadness.
what's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
uuuuh hm i tend to write a lot of like mid-canon fics i guess or angst or like fics that finish off with a Hopeful tone but not happy or sad but i guess the one that i'd say is the happiest ending is probably i'm not trying to write a love song. it's a stucky fix-it fic bc i was so mad about endgame that i had to make myself not mad by writing this, but it's essentially just. 5 times bucky "jokingly" asked steve to marry him and one time steve actually asked him. i'm gonna be so real i do not remember the plot of this at all beyond that.
do you write crossovers?
not anymore, no! i wrote some waaay back in the day on deviantart- most notably i was kicking around a star trek/beatles crossover as a kid where spock, bones, kirk, and uhura swapped places w the beatles. i don't remember where i was going with it at all, but i wrote it in a notebook at summer camp lol
have you ever received hate on a fic?
yeah lmfao most recently i had someone tell me i was ableist for not tagging a 7k fic "slow-burn" bc they didn't get to anal sex right away. mind you, they were still fucking, there just wasn't anal. and this meant i was ableist. absolutely insane comment i still think about it like weekly.
do you write smut? If so, what kind?
yeahhhhh most of my fics on naturechild are explicit. and idk i'd say usually just Porn With Feelings like i love using smut as a way to explore characters and relationships rather than just straight up being hot. which is maybe my downfall but hey i'm having fun
have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that i'm aware of!
have you ever had a fic translated?
i don't think so? i think i've been asked a few times but no
have you ever co-written a fic before?
yeah! i co-wrote a beatles fic w a friend in middle school, i co-wrote the star to every wandering bark w my ex, and i'm writing i want you, need you, i love you with @forthlin. there's ALSO in the works a thing i'm co-writing w @dykebeatles at some point that exists in our minds and is very beautiful such a beautiful world
what's your all-time favorite ship?
i truly couldn't answer this w a gun to my head this changes frequently. but my ones that keep returning are: kirk/spock(/bones), (redacted star wars ship u could all figure out w the slightest sleuthing), charles/erik, and john/paul. and then i'm also huge into mulder/scully, twelve/clara, and doctor/master, but i don't tend to read or write fics for those i just witness them on my screen and go crazy.
what's a wip that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
the star to every wandering bark will never get finished bc we broke up and then we were Planning on finishing it and he didn't get back to me lmaoooo. but also the universe for is it a great or little thing we fought? i thought was very neat and wanted to finish and then never got around to. given that it's literally 8 years old at this point i don't think i'm ever going to but i loved that little world!
what are your writing strengths?
i've been told i'm good at dialogue and i think i'm good at painting emotional pictures honestly !!
what are your writing weaknesses?
i get really bogged down sometimes and it's hard for me to know what to cut to make the action flow so it's not just chunks of rambling that take too long to move from one action/scene to the next. i'm trying to Actively work on this and get better though so ! i'm also not the strongest at smut bc again, i use it as a character study more than anything. trying to improve on that as well!
what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
like prev said, depends on how well it's done. i've seen it done really well and really poorly. regardless i definitely think you should probably try and find someone who speaks that language and not just use google translate bc oh boy.
what was the first fandom you wrote for?
fasdfasdf kim possible when i was 9...... first time i started taking fanfiction SERIOUSLY though was the beatles when i was 11
what's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
ohhhh hm. i really wanna write a mcharrison fic but they're so bittersweet to me and idk if i could do them justice. i've also only ever written one cherik fic and that's criminal, i'd love to write another one
what's your favorite fic you've written?
okay i know it's recency bias but it's between cut to chord: subliminal flash of love-making like i don't think i've ever been as proud of a fic as that one, and then i want you (every time that you're near) was just so fun to write and so adfasdf i love them
tagging: yall don't have to do this but tagging some ppl i know have published fics and may not have been tagged ! @forthlin @wronglennon @dykebeatles @sgtpeppers and anyone else that would like to do this can say i tagged them <3
