It Must Never Happen in the Chair Again: The Epicenter of my Absence
Hi! Guess who's learning how to be better, after long last? I'm starting a path, and it's small, so I barely feel qualified talking about it, so I'm going to try to approach it from a place as humbly as possible whilst also still acknowledging progress.
Watch this delicate balancing act that I need to perform, and will ultimately fail to the precipice of ego.
It started with 25 push-ups, my brain works better on constraint than with true freedom. True freedom paralyzes it, because it doesn't quite understand it yet, although I hope it one day does.
The reason why I try to use the collective 'it' is that I'm partially ashamed of my mind. As I go back and examine my older pieces, I'm terrified and ashamed of the work that I've done, and then I realize that it was all building to this. There's something to be said of making the mistake and not erasing it.
It's part of my life's work, and I've had a bad habit of scrapping everything all due to the defensiveness of someone finding my work. You would think that I would be happy with someone finding my writing and even more so if they find my writing helpful, but I think I should stop for a time. Maybe I'll change things up and make this a place for my writing and here, I'll only tell stories.
Maybe it can serve as a place of better self-reflection, where I actually put some effort in and at least act like I want to be here. This cynical loathing of oneself is more draining to the listener, and it really does infect, I find. Negativity breeds more negativity, and furthermore: contempt breeds contempt, not familiarity. Familiarity breeds indifference. Indifference breeds insecurity, insecurity breeds mistrust, and mistrust breeds misplaced action.
Misplaced action breeds the worst atrocities mankind is singularly capable of.
Your pattern-recognition has picked up several times that I've used the word "breed", and now people probably think I have a thing. It was to convey the point that most would rather point out a seeming flaw in the script than to listen to the overall message.
I personally believe that as a culture, we watch too much TV, or to take the air out of the gutted metaphor, we watch TV to escape reality, but you're a bad person if you point this out. It's rude to pierce the veil, but forcing your whim upon others serves to only outline your own inability to cope with one singular objective reality.
It's as the great Matt Dillahunty puts it, although I'm paraphrasing because it's fun to do with wisdom; "I believe I am surrounded by people, and if all of the people that I perceive that I am surrounded by, agree with me, then we can all work together to investigate reality."
So in the softest way possible, I don't think I have the life experience to maintain a blog of this fashion, or at the very least, it's lost the ability to be effective as a respectable format. I'll get control of it soon, and this place will evolve into, ideally, a motivational place, where I don't lose my head to cynicism, and I can actually be a source of joy, rather than a misery-loves-company type.
I think getting my house in order will be good for me. I'm down 80 pounds so far and it's the first time I've been under 200 in nearly a decade. I've quit smoking and vaping, next will be hot showers that I quit, followed by my any other compulsive wants or addictions for, or to things.
So I'll get off of here for a little bit, I think. It would be good for me to open my window and crawl out of it to go take a walk every now and then. I always liked the idea of an apartment with a fire-escape, but up until I picked writing back up, it's become a rather punitive argument to defend my smoking habit.
Now that I don't smoke anymore, I can fantasize about being a writer on a balcony or terrace somewhere, quietly tacking away at my keys, saying "Don't look at me, look at what I made.", but for now, this will serve as a crutch to lean on for when I need to straighten my thoughts out. It's a safety-net for me, and maybe it can be for you, too. I guess that's kind-of always been the idea, but I certainly haven't been acting like it, or putting forth my old effort.
So here it is, here's the effort, here's me actively trying, to tightrope myself to a better life, being careful to never go too far in any direction, trying to be smart, reading the right books and keeping my mouth shut, and my fingers busy making up mythology, and getting better at it each day.
Come and watch me grow, if you want, other peoples' egomaniacal self-improvement stories aren't really for everyone, but you'll watch me try to beat my vanity back like a mangy dog with a stick, beating me back into the pit of devolution and cyclical behavior.
I hope to learn more lessons, soon...

So, I just finished reading the fanfiction that you recommended and now I look forward to new ones, so if you know something else to read please let me know.
I’m finally here! It took me a lot of time to find  new works to suggest - and not because I’m lacking material. I’m still following a lot of works, but I don’t want to suggest unfinished fictions, so I had to see their endings before deciding if they were good or bad. So they won’t happer now, but they can always have a place in Recommendation part 3 (that will come out when someone will ask me again in the future):
____________________________
Apologies by Fangirlwriting
This fiction is about Thomas having an abusive relationship and how it affected every Side. Janus is the only one still lucid enough to realize there’s something wrong in this relationship and we follow him in his “quest” to save all Sides - quest that will final lead to Thomas leaving his abuser.
The pace of the story is amazing, there’s this sense of “doing this before it’s too late”, all while following Janus around and rooting for him.
And some choices are GREAT. Logan isn’t locked in his room “because of the plot”, but it makes sense. Just like Virgil’s reaction when Janus talks with him. And all the Sides’ reactions are so realistic it really gives you a nice feeling.

Cold Comfort by storytellerontheside
A great story about Janus realizing what the Core Sides’ issues are, working to help them and then... well, up to you to see it. Spoiler: it broke my heart in tiny little pieces, then put them together one by one.
Some ideas are absolutely amazing and left me utterly delighted. The idea about Logan’s room is the most innovative, painful and logic you can imagine and I loved it with all my heart. The Roman chapter is great as well. And the Remus one is both adorable and oh so painful oh such good pain ow my heart.
In other words: if you want to suffer, but in a satisfying way, read this. The style is good, the ideas are good and everything is pain, but you’ll love it.

Three Minutes Less by Fangirlwriting
Oh, I definitely won’t forget this story so easily. This will probably be stuck in a corner of my mind for a long while, because I absolutely adored it.
The plot is as simple as it looks: Roman dies and a demon offers Remus the chance to come back in time to save his brother. But every time he comes back, Remus loses 30 minutes of his life.
Do you think it’s a race-against-the-clock story, with ideas and plans and how we will focus on every little detail... but no. There’s also this, but it’s first of all a psychological story. And not Roman’s, but Remus’ psychology. The thoughts, the questions he asks, his way of thinking, there’s a lot here. And a lot of regret and sadness too - and yes, there’s also the race against time. But there are also some powerful chapters and scenes. Like the mall scene (it’s so powerful, I love it) and Remus’ conversations about death and leaving something behind... wow. Just wow. That’s truly a great story.

Humility's A Sin by Ptolomeia
Awesome in everything. Plot? Awesome. Writing style? Awesome. Pace of the story? Awesome. Pain? Awesome. Solution? Awesome. Roman? A hero. (seriously, I LOVED Roman in this story. That’s probably my favourite Roman) Janus? Another hero, but also a moron. Just to give you the idea: while reading the last chapters, I was crying and laughing at the same time.
Long story short: there are problems, of course. And Roman ducks out. His decision starts a cascade effect, that leads to all Sides being involved in this  rescue mission, with a side dish of angst, more angst, the best kind of angst (especially with Patton. Ah, such perfect angst). But also King Creativity angst - and used in the best way.
It’s not like you should read this. It’s you MUST read this, because this is so good and satisfying, it’s absolutely worth the time spent.

The Other Side of the Mirror by Frejennix and Lalijinx
Techinically this isn’t a story, but a collection of one shots/short fanfictions and they’re all closed, so it technically counts as both “on work” and “finished” at the same time.
And this series is AMAZING. The concept is very simple: the Dark Sides and the Core Sides switch places. So we have Thomas with Janus, Virgil and Remus as Core Sides and he’s slowly learning about his Dark Sides.
Logan is the first one to be introduced and we’re learning to understand him, to know him better - just like Janus, Virgil and Remus are. There are a lot of hints about what will happen and it’s clear there’s a big plot planned.
The single fanfictions are very good. The writing style works, the rhythm is interesting, the characters are great. It’s a very nice way to spend some time - and a great series to follow!

Flores Facets by Whiskey_With_Patron
After The Other Side of the Mirror couldn’t left out the second important series I’m following. And this is SO. CUTE. It’s basically Sanders Sides, but from Nico’s pov. And we know his Sides. And, just like Thomas’ Sides, they’re full of issues. Of course. Especially Heart, but for a comprehensible reason. There are only four parts until now, but it’s starting to emerge a bigger plot, with possible dark sides and future names for every Side.
In addition to that, Nico isn’t just “the pretty boy”. We see him struggling with the aftermath of his last relationship, with his feelings for Thomas, with his desire to become a writer. Every shot is a nice addition to the series, it’s well written and it’s a nice way to spend some time while reading something good.

With A Door Between Them by rosesisupposes
After POF, Janus tries to talk to Roman. Simple as that.
But compared to many others stories, in which they start to profusely apologize and it’s all Good Feelings TM, here it’s... a conversation. They talk about a lot of stuff and it has a nice flow. It never sounds like it’s forced or they’s just following a script. One of the best ways to let them handle their issues.

Fitting Pieces by Haley3
Who is she? Never heard of her~
Okay, I wrote this. It’s an Intrulogical, that means there’s Remus and Remus doing Remus things. But there’s also Logan being the absolute nerd he is. And they both have amnesia, so they should find a way to get their memories back. But all they have is a tiny little dice.
If you want to give it a try, be my guest.
Or you don’t like Intrulogical and you prefer to read something about the Dark Sides being a family, with special focus on the relationship between Janus and Virgil? I have In te, Domine, speravi - In you, Lord, I have hoped that gives you an insight on them, through Janus’ memories (real and fake ones). All of this with a side dish of religious references.
I know, I’m shamelessly promoting myself.

Morbid Fascination by alicat54c
Last but not least, a great work from my beloved.
It’s an Intrulogical and you have the best of both wooorlds. Logan’s character is exactly like in the series: cold, unable to truly understand his feelings (or common slang words), yet fascinated by Remus and stubborn enough to keep hanging out with him despite everything.
Remus is amazingly creepy. His room is even creepier. Everything about him screams creepy, morbid, like a swamp monster fused with a boogey man. I loved the idea of crawling under your bed to reach Remus’ place. And I loved even more how Logan managed to demonstrate (by using the scientific method) how useful Remus is.
Special mention to Janus, because he’s also so damn creepy and I loved it so, so much.
In other words: do you like creepy stuff? Do you want to read something with huge creepy vibes, great ideas and amazing characters? This is the perfect story for you.

I MEAN IT GAVE ME CHILLS IN A GOOD WAY. and also it would be hilarious to write imo; just these 6 dudes that all look the same and just made up A Guy.
“Thomas,” Roman announces quite suddenly, with a triumphant gesture that manages to inadvertently sweep half of the script drafts off the couch in the process.
“I still can not believe we’re doing this,” Virgil says.
“Oh, you’d better believe it, Way Down Gay-destown, ‘cause I just got the perfect name for him. Thomas. That’s his name – Thomas Sanders.” Roman pauses, and wiggles his fingers a bit. “Thoughts?”
Remus perks up. “Oh, our fictional character has thots now?”
“Crawling all over him like weevils,” Virgil nods.
“I thought we were calling ourselves ‘Sides’,” says Janus.
“Guys, please,” Roman begs.
“Thomas sounds good to me,” is Patton’s opinion. “It’s nice and friendly, and also it has two syllables, like the rest of us! It kind of fits in like that.”
“It is a surprisingly apt name, especially when you take into consideration that Roman most likely did not know of the linguistic root when picking it,” Logan muses.
Remus waves a hand lazily from where he’s draped backwards over the couch, writing Transformers inflation porn on the notes app of his shitty phone. “Uh, noparoni, falsehood, all that jazz. I was watching. He went on babynames dot com and everything for this.”
“...What he said, yeah.”
“Ah, yes, babynames dot com, the internet’s premier and leading source for all accurate name derivations,” comes the dry response.
“Thomas means twin,” Roman says. “It means twin, and it’s funny because we all look identical! It’s like another layer of meaning! A fun little injoke, just for us.”
“Yes,” says Virgil, “you’re right. We need many, many deep layers of meaning and in-jokes woven into the shared identity we’re crafting as part of Roman and Remus’s wild, spur-of-the-moment internet scam.”
“How dare you,” Roman objects loudly, flailing so suddenly that he nearly falls off the couch. “This is polar opposite of a scam, we’re – we are merely taking advantage of our uncanny shared appearance to... share joy amongst the humble Youtube vlogging community! And perhaps show off. Just a little. But to say that it’s a scam – ”
“No, this is definitely a scam,” Janus says. “I mean, look at us. We’re inventing an entire person for internet clout.”
Patton looks like he’s having second thoughts about this whole thing. “I’m having second thoughts,” he says. “Like, on an ethical, moral sort of level, is any of this... really a good idea?”
“People invent other people for shittier reasons all the time, I think we’re fine,” Virgil says. “I mean, look at internet catfishes. Or every male fiction writer with a very obvious and creepy fetish. Or J.K. Rowling.”
“J.K. Rowling doesn’t exist?” Janus says. “Excellent. We won, boys.”
Roman grabs a pen and scribbles it into the notebook, next to a hasty little stickman doodle of an average-looking guy and a list of qualities and attributes and skills. “Well, all that aside, nobody seems to have an objection to this, so Thomas it is! Thomas Sanders. Thomas I’ve-Just-Realized-He-Needs-A-Middle-Name Sanders.”
“Thomas F Sanders,” Remus suggests.
“The F stands for ‘Fucking’, doesn’t it,” sighs Patton.
“Well, yeah.”
“Way to go for the low-hanging fruit, dude,” Virgil says. “Okay, put a pin in the middle name for now. Our collective brainchild has a name, so... that’s something. I guess.” He grabs the notebook from Roman and squints down at the short-ish list they have so far. “Any more character traits we wanna give this guy?”
“Intense love of Disney films,” Roman says.
“We’ve already got that; you suggested it about five times already.”
“Maybe he can play the ukulele!” Patton suggests.
Virgil nods, and starts to write it down before stopping abruptly. “Wait. Can any of us play the ukulele?”
Silence.
“He can only have traits that we already have,” Virgil reminds them. “That’s the whole idea. We’re derivatives of him.”
“Well, I’ll work on the ukulele thing,” Roman says decisively. “Put it down anyway. Anyone else?”
“He can’t cook to save his life,” Janus says.
“Catholic guilt,” Logan provides, with a little wince and a slight adjustment of his glasses. “It provides a good base for many of the plotlines we wish to include in this, I believe.”
“Give him a huge dick,” Remus says.
“Remus,” Roman growls.
“Just a humungous badonker of a penis. He beats his meat and the entire earth rumbles.”
“Remus,” Patton groans.
Remus grins. "He’s packing some real chunky meat down there. As in, his drill is a five star excavator. A proper manmade wonder. It's the kind of meal you get a prize for finishing. A bridge between two warring nations. And the girth! God had to resize the Earth so the radii wouldn't match. You can use his cast iron pelvic greatsword as a radiation shield in Chernobyl. His – "
“Remus, weren’t you listening? We’re only giving him traits that we already have,” Virgil says, looking Remus dead in the eyes. “I’m not going to let you misrepresent yourself like this.”
The room almost immediately erupts into a loud chorus of enthusiastic oohs. Quite a few people throw things at Virgil, who lets out a snort of amusement and ducks to avoid getting nailed in the eye by a stray television remote control. Remus just cackles.
“We’re going to have to tone back the dick jokes, probably,” says Janus with some regret, once everybody calms down a bit. “Don’t want to get demonetized within the first few weeks.”
“Well, Remus already broke the Youtube demonetization speedrun last week, so at least we know what not to do,” Patton says absently. “The real question is, though – who’s going to actually play this Thomas person?
“Don’t look at me,” says Janus. “I’m looking forward to getting the play the villain for once.”
Patton points at him, mock-glaring. “Hey, don’t think you’re missing out on a redemption arc just because you like the evil aesthetic!”
Janus lets out a little affronted hissing noise at that, but doesn’t actually object.
“Well, I’m not shaving my moustache for any of you fuckers, no matter how much internet clout we’re gonna get for it,” Remus declares.
A quick, meaningful glance is exchanged between the four remaining people in the room.
“Leave me out of it,” Virgil decides.
“I don’t really mind, either way,” Patton says.
“In that case, I shall arm-wrestle you for the honor of portraying our glorious, talented and entirely fictional centre of being on our upcoming Grammy-award-winning sixty-part webseries,” Roman declares, flexing dramatically.
“Which may or may not be a scam,” Logan says.
“...Look, are we doing this or what?”
“Absolutely.” Logan places down his book, and shrugs off his jacket. “I should warn you, however – I am what I believe is colloquially referred to as ‘absolutely fucking ripped’.” He breaks out into a surprisingly wicked smile. “Roman, let me be clear. I am going to be the one to portray Thomas Fucking Sanders, our beloved nonexistent media superstar culmination-of-our-collective-selves. And I am about to flat-out destroy you. Let’s go.”
There’s a beat of silence as everybody stares at Logan. The stares range from impressed to terrified to obviously horny. All of these are equally valid emotions to be feeling, because Logan is ripped, and somehow none of them have ever realized this before.
“Well, before we do that, give me five minutes to make popcorn,” says Janus. “Because I have a feeling we’re going to need it.”

Bookish - MC x Mystic Messenger
Here we are back again with a new set of headcanons, this time about a MC who loves to read!
Just a reminder, my requests are open so if you’d like to see more headcanons, just plop an idea into my inbox!! Here is a direct link!!
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Yoosung
He understands you like to read
But he also doesn’t get it
“Why is it something you do for fun? You should play LOLOL with me!”
Secretly loves to watch you though, especially when you’re really into a book
He thinks all your facial expressions are adorable
When your favorite book was made into a movie you can bet your ass that Yoosung made sure you saw it at midnight when it came out
He wouldn’t admit it but he secretly loved it
Will listen to you talk about your books because even if he has no clue what’s going on, he loves that you enjoy them
When you find a book you think he would like, you read him a chapter every night before you force him he goes to bed
Definitely helps with his LOLOL habits, even if he does miss the nights he stays up gaming
Tumblr media
Zen
Zen loves to read as well
Maybe not the same type of stuff, but he reads his scripts and likes to sit and read up on the characters he’s studying
After dinner you both curl up together on the couch, you with a book in your hand and him with his script
Will definitely read a book that you recommend since he wants to have another thing to talk to you about
In return you help him practice lines and study his characters
You both really got into this fantasy series and you went as the two main characters together for Halloween
No one knew who you were but it’s f i n e
Zen thinks your voice is so soothing so he will definitely fall asleep with his head in your lap if you read to him and play with his hair
Will save up to buy you a new series that you’ve been looking forward to (it definitely helps him cut down on his cigarette and beer purchases)
Honestly he loves sharing everything with you so no matter what you read, he will pay attention and even go so far as to google the plot (this helps a lot when there’s a character death, he’s smart he knows to plan ahead)
Tumblr media
Jaehee
She used to be an avid reader like you but ever since she became Jumin’s assistant, she hasn’t really had the time
Still keeps a book on her nightstand and always thinks about reading it
But she’s so tired when she gets the chance to crawl into bed that she can’t bring herself to open to the page she left off on
She will 100% recommend you so many books and just bring you some at random times
Jaehee stop I don’t have enough room
Let’s you blow up her phone with texts all about the current book you’re reading and when she gets around to seeing all of them, loves when you’re freaking out over a book she gave you
She likes to listen to audiobooks on her commute to work so that helps satisfy her need to read
Tumblr media
Jumin
“Oh you like books? I can have a whole library put into the penthouse just for your personal use”
“Jumin no”
He will buy you random books at random times if he sees something he thinks you will enjoy
You have a little mini library in the penthouse filled with all the books he’s gifted
He tries to get into what you’re reading and tries to understand, but he just gets so bored
Still likes listening to you talk about it though, since he likes your voice and loves to see you so excited about something
It makes his heart flutter when he gets home late and he sees you curled up on the couch with a book in your hand, Elizabeth the 3rd resting on your stomach
It’s even cuter when you fall asleep like that
Will for sure arrange for you to meet the author of your favorite series and will take many blurry pictures as you freak out
He used to like reading but now can’t find the time since he only used to read before when he couldn’t sleep (now you force him to go to bed)
Honestly bless him though he just lives to see you happy and if books help, he will do all he can to make sure you have an unlimited supply
Tumblr media
Saeyoung
Honestly he loves that you read
He likes that he can be in the same room as you and work and not have to worry about entertaining you
When he takes a break, he usually cuddles up to you and asks you about your latest book, falling asleep as you talk
You don’t mind though because he needs the rest
Will 100% unironically cosplay characters with you (bonus points if he can use his maid costume)
For your birthday he definitely went all out and made had Jaehee make a cake that was themed like your favorite book and served food that they’d eat in it
He’d also probably make you an app to play a game based on the book and then you two would play it together when he had the time
Programmed robot cat to recommend books to you when you couldn’t decide what to read next
Tries to build you a bookshelf to store all your books but he messes it up
Bless him for trying though he’s such a sweetie
Tumblr media
Jihyun
Absolutely loves to read
You two would have your own little book club
Sometimes if he finished a book that left him with strong enough feelings, he’d paint about it
You guys hung all those pictures up in your book room
Speaking of the book room
Best idea you both ever had
It’s so calming and just brings such serenity to both of you
There’s many comfy chairs and blankets and pillows
Your favorite way to end the day is snuggled up in his lap under a pile of blankets and listen to him read
His favorite thing was the same, except when you read out loud
When you guys adopted Lucy, you made sure to read to her every night until she was old enough to learn to start reading by herself
By the time she hit grade school, she was a reading machine and they had to give her harder books
The three of you took solace in sitting together in the book room, each of you reading your own book after dinner
Sweetest picture ever taken of your family was when neither you nor Jihyun were answering your phone so Zen went to check on you guys
He found all three of you curled up on a couch, each holding their own book and leaning on each other, everyone fast asleep
You love your little book nerd family
Tumblr media
Saeran
He’s not so much of a reader as he is a writer
His life experiences thus far has left him with a lot to say
And from there, some amazing stories transpired
He’d be super shy to share them at first but once he learned you loved reading, he would start asking your opinions on various scenes
When he finished his first book you both cried and celebrated together
And then of course you stayed up all night and binge read it
After he learned you loved his writing, he would literally write little stories for you all the time
Or if you couldn’t sleep, he’d hold you close and tell you something he made up on the spot
After you read his writing, everything else was ruined for you
Everything he tried to express was conveyed perfectly even if it isn’t explicitly stated and that’s something that a lot of authors struggle with
When he finally had the courage to get his first book published, he dedicated it to you aw

Writer’s block // Bill Hader x reader
Pairing: Bill Hader x reader Word count: 1984 Warnings: Smut, fingering, unprotected sex, lenguage Summary: You arrive home to find your boyfriend Bill having some trouble writing a script. Seeing that he’s unable to get anything done, you decide to help him distract himself. (a/n): This was initially going to be a fluffy imagine, but then things happened.
Tumblr media
You had been working nonstop for the last weeks. As happy as you were for getting one of the main roles in a promising new film, you were also exhausted because of all the work you suddenly had. Travelling, staying up late studying your lines, being on set all day… It surely was a rewarding job, but it took a lot of your effort and time. Regardless, you were glad that you were working in a new project. You had been having a rough time and now, you were seeing things from a more positive point of view. Surely, this job had definitely improved your mood, but it also made you realize how much you cared about the people closer to you now that you didn’t have that much time to spend with them.
And you were as glad as ever when one day you finished shooting earlier and you got the chance to go home before the sun had gone down. In fact, you had the whole afternoon to yourself, and you couldn’t be more excited about it. You were thrilled to get home and spend some quality time with Bill. Lately, you could barely see him. Mainly, because by the time you usually got home, he had fallen asleep on the couch, waiting for you and watching true crime shows. The only time you could spend together was a brief breakfast before both of you had to go to work, and as much as you cherished those breakfasts, you missed just lying around and chill with him.
Opening the door to your shared apartment, you left your things and went to your bedroom, where Bill was on his laptop, working. You showed him a big smile as he walked to you and gave you a big hug.
“What are you doing here so early?” He asked you after kissing you warmly.
“I have the rest of the day off.” The smile on your face grew bigger as you told him. “I thought maybe we could hang out or something.”
“I’d love to. But I am working on this script for Barry and I really need to get it done as soon as possible.” His words snapped you back to reality, you weren’t the only busy person in this relationship. You should have figured he would had something to work on too.
“Oh, that’s okay.” You said, not wanting to be pushy. “Maybe when you finish we can go grab a drink or something.” He smiled at you sweetly. “Is it okay if I just lie in bed for a while and take a nap? I don’t want to interrupt you.”
“Sure, it’s not a problem. Have some rest.” Bill kissed your forehead before sitting back in front of his laptop again.
Sighing, you crawled into bed and got under the sheets. You tried to sleep for a while, but seeing no success, you decided to play some silly mobile game silently as you watched your boyfriend work out of the corner of your eye. Taking a deep breathe, he rubbed his eyes with his left hand as he deleted a page and a half of what he had written. He seemed really frustrated.
“Is everything okay?” You asked, letting your phone aside and looking at him. He turned in your direction.
“Yeah, don’t worry.” Bill tried to calm you down. “I’m just having a little trouble writing this episode.”
“How long have you been in front of that screen?”
“Maybe 3 hours or so…” He sighed, obviously tired.
“Well, you need to rest.” You immediately reminded him.
“But I really need to get this done...” He groaned, stressed. You got up from bed and walked to him so you could place a hand on his cheek.
“You can’t get anything done if you keep stressing yourself like that.” Your voice was soft, trying to calm him down. “You’re having a writer’s block. Take a break, forget about the script for a while and you’ll see how you come up with something good.”
“You’re right.” He sighed, getting up and closing his laptop. “It’s just that I’m re-writing the same scene over and over and I can’t seem to get it the way I intended.”
“That’s perfectly normal.” You assured him. “Don’t keep thinking about it, just take a break, okay?” You took his face between your hands. “We can watch a movie if you want.”
Bill seemed to enjoy the idea of watching a movie together, so you headed to the living room where he selected the film as you made some popcorn. While you waited for the microwave to get your snack done, you looked in your boyfriend’s direction. He seemed a little off, as if he was still thinking about all the work that he had still left to do. You knew how professional he was and you could imagine how his mind was now rambling about his unfinished script, but you also knew that he needed to clear his mind before putting himself to work again. You were immersed on your thoughts when the microwave’s ding snapped you back to reality. After getting the popcorn out of the microwave, you walked back to the living room and sat next to him in the couch.
The movie started and the both of you tried to watch it, but you couldn’t help yourself from looking in his direction from time to time, trying to make sure he was actually taking a break and not thinking about the whole script situation. He was in fact, but he played it cool so you wouldn’t worry. As you looked at him, you realized how much you had missed spending time with him those last weeks, and remembering that you had to go back to set the next day, you decided to simply enjoy the moment. If he wasn’t going to take that break after all, maybe you would do it for him. Without saying a word, you got closer to him so you could embrace him and place your head on his shoulder, closing your eyes and taking a deep breathe. Bill looked down at you, a smile forming on his lips as he embraced you back.
To be honest, you weren’t even paying attention to the movie now. You could feel the way he was caressing your body and in that moment you didn’t care about anything other than that. As you licked your lips, you thought that maybe there were other ways to distract him. You placed a hand on his chest as you looked up at him, trying to catch his attention. When he finally looked down at you, you didn’t hesitate to close the distance left between the two of you and kiss him. He was surprised at first, but he still kissed you back, placing one of his hands in the back of your neck so he could get you even closer to him.
That kiss turned out to be a little more passionate than you first intended, but the two of you seemed to be okay with it. You weren’t the only one that had been missing moments like this one. His hands moved eagerly up and down your body, touching you through the fabric of your clothes and making your legs feel week. Feeling the familiar heat taking over your body, you sat on top of him so you could move your hips slightly against his, trying to create some friction. He started to kiss your neck as his hand slipped under your jeans and underwear so he could start fingering you.
“So wet already?” You could feel the smile on his face as he started moving his finger in and out of you. “I haven’t started yet.”
A moan came out of your throat without you being able to hold it back. Bill’s breathe against the skin of your neck was sending shivers all over your body and the way he was touching you was making you lose your mind. You placed both of your hands on his shoulders, trying to hold on to something as you felt yourself coming apart when he added another finger. Both of you knew you wouldn’t last long that way.
“Don’t you dare to cum yet.” He warned you, his voice was huskier now.
You closed your eyes shot, trying to contain yourself. How could he ask you to hold back when his fingers fucked you so good? He fastened the pace of his movements, bringing you to the edge of the orgasm. You let out a simple ‘fuck’ out of your mouth, knowing that you wouldn’t be able to keep yourself from cumming. Almost as if he could feel it too, he immediately got his fingers out of you, letting you trembling and gasping for air. Looking at you in awe, he placed both of his fingers on your lips just so he could watch you suck them clean.
“That’s my girl.” Bill encouraged you as you passed your tongue along his fingers.
With his other hand, he was already trying to undo the zipper of your jeans and pulling them off, but his eyes were on you all the time, as if he was watching a miracle happen in front of him. You helped him getting you undress, and within a few seconds, you were standing naked in front of him. He started kissing your collarbone, his hands in the lower part of your back so he could press your body against his. Your body shuddered when you felt his already hard cock pressing against you, the fabric of his pants and underwear the only thing in between.
Soon, your hands were getting him out of his clothes too as he kept kissing and licking your breasts, taking an especial interest on your very sensitive nipples. He placed the tip of his cock carefully on your entrance, teasing you and making you moan once more.
“Please.” It’s the only word that your lips could form at this point, and it was also the only word your boyfriend needed to get inside of you.
As soon as you felt him in, you let out a little cry. He let you a few moments to adjust before he started pounding into you. You looked at him as he placed his hands on your hips, guiding you as you rode him. His breathing was heavier, making you get even more turned on, and as he kissed your neck, you could feel the pleasure building up inside of you again. The feeling of him fucking you, his cock hitting all the right spots, got you trembling once more. It had been a while since the last time you had fucked, but he was definitely making up for all the lost time.
His thrusts were harder and faster every time, and you didn’t know if you would be able to take it any longer. You couldn’t hold back the moans that came out of your throat, but he loved hearing you like that, he loved knowing that it was him the one that was making you feel so goddamn good.
“You can cum now.” He whispered in your hear, his breathing as unsettled as you had ever heard it.
And as the words came out of your mouth, you finally felt yourself reach the orgasm. Your whole body shook above his as he thrusted into you a few final times, reaching his own climax too. You needed a few seconds to catch your breathe before sitting by his side on the couch, your legs still shaking slightly.
Bill embraced you once more, getting you closer to him so he could kiss your cheek lovingly.
“That was amazing, babe.” He assured you, a tired smile on his face. “I feel a lot better now.”
“I’m glad I could help.” You smirked, kissing him again.

Salty Ask list: 9. Most disliked arc? Why?, 20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?, and 27. Least shippable character? The saltier the better!!!
Thank you for the ask, anon!! 💜💜
OK, I will answer both 9 and 10 (because the most disliked arc is no. 10 😅) I have already answered some of these earlier, so I will copy/paste those, if that’s OK!
9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
For Merlin:
Agravaine. He’s just the worst. So greasy and sleazy and just, yuck. Yuck, overall. He’s not even one of those characters one can love to hate, like, for example, Uther, who is also simply the worst, but who will preoccupy you in ways you never saw coming! When it comes to Agravaine, everything about him was so thoroughly hateful, frustrating and unenjoyable, the highlight of the entire season was finally watching him go splat against the wall! The second most hated is that girlfriend of Gwaine’s at the very end that was plying him for information. That entire sequence is just so mind-numbingly infuriating, I can’t even think of it without getting angry. It almost ruined Gwaine for me entirely.
For The Untamed:
Oh, finally an easy one!! 😂😂 Wen Chao, Wang Lingjiao and Wen Zhuliu are in a tight race for the first place here and who is winning depends entirely on who I’m looking at in that precise moment! Of course, Wen Ruohan and Wen Xu can get into the hate bucket too, but they were so bland and boring, they cannot really compare. Jin Guangshan is also the worst, I can’t stand him. The only reason I hate the Wens more is that Jin Guangshan is actually a competent villain on a higher scale of villainy than the previous lot. Jin Zixun is also awful, a ridiculously unredeemable character on every front and Su She can also have an honourable mention.
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
For Merlin:
Oooh! There are so many!! But I think the ones that I rant about the most often are those related to Gwen! Everything about Gwencelot makes me rage! I dislike him and how he treated her and just do not see this epic ~love~ there, at least not on his part, yet they kept bringing him back to mess up her life over and over again.
Mind you, I am not the biggest fan of Arthur in this context either, he was a terrible boyfriend (though a somewhat better husband because Merlin picked up the slack), even though Arwen >>> Gwencelot by miles and miles. I hated how he would break up with her every five minutes over nonsense and then come crawling back. I hated how she always immediately forgave him, all grateful and relieved, and I always felt like she didn’t really have a choice because the power imbalance between them was staggering. Plus, the fact that she was the one who nursed Uther in his last months after everything he had done to her, and that Arthur had let it happen, infuriates me to no end.
My loathing for that whole cheating arc is infinite. I hate how the writers could not make up their minds about what they wanted to do with her. On the one hand, they were such cowards in their attempts to keep her ideologically pure, they had already sacrificed a lot of her quirkiness and character to suit Arthur’s needs and wants and to make him look good, so they were reluctant to have her actually cheat because it would undermine him. I don’t understand why they even had to have that entire arc if they were so afraid to go there. She was supposed to be under mind-control, and then they pointed out that the spell works by bringing suppressed emotions to the forefront! Why was that necessary? I mean, you can’t have it both ways! Either do it and own it, or just leave it alone! It would have been so easy to have her choose Lancelot and develop a proper romance there, and then to have Lancelot die, and Gwen fall in love with Arthur afterwards, as he supports her while she grieves. But, no, they had to take this cheap shot at her and humiliate her and have her cleaning pigsties just so that Arthur can angst about it for a few episodes. I am forever mad.
I also dislike the whole evil!Gwen arc (though a part of me did enjoy watching her go apeshit after quietly swallowing so much injustice throughout the entire five seasons of this show). I feel like they were intentionally undermining the character and her entire relationship with Arthur. The whole cheating nonsense so late into season 4 had already done so much damage, then they went and pulled this poorly-thought-out crap in the second half of season 5, when emotions were already running high and nobody was in the mood to be forgiving of someone trying at and almost succeeding in killing Arthur, who was so much more beloved among the viewers than her. Just imagine how much better spent that time would have been if they had... oh, I don’t know, developed Mordred more and given him a proper reason to turn against Arthur!
Ugh 😒
For The Untamed:
I dislike the whole Yanli/JZX romance. I don’t know what he’s like in the novel and the other adaptations, but he gets on my very last nerve in the drama and I never actually saw him do anything meaningful to redeem himself for all the crap he pulled and all the humiliation he piled on to her. I also don’t like the whole Yin Iron nonsense. It just doesn’t tie in properly and the plot holes and inconsistencies it leaves behind are gaping and huge (but, happily, nobody is watching this for the Yin Iron plot 😆). There had to have been better things to do there, especially since it is something that does not exist in the source material. The worst parts of the drama for me somehow always tie back to the Yin Iron.
20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?
For Merlin:
Hmmm… when it comes to the most popular ones, I think none of them, because they all get complicated and dark to some degree. But on a platonic level, when it comes to friendships, I would go with Merwen, Merlance and Merwaine. Merlin and Gwen are delightful together, but I have a hard time shipping them romantically without Arthur, there is just no path forward for me there that does not involve him too, and that tips the dynamic into something much more complicated (but still happy for all three of them because I am so not down for jealousy and competition between Merlin and Gwen, Arthur has two hands and he can damn well use them).
I also think that Lancelot’s love for Merlin was pure, but I just don’t ship it at all and think that there was never anything there except for friendship (I can see Arlance going sexual, though). The same goes for Gwaine, I think that he loved Merlin unconditionally, and as far as friendship goes, it is pure, but if I ship them sexually, then all purity goes out of the window, not just as far as the sex is concerned (because the sex they would be having would be positively filthy) but also because I just can’t imagine a universe in which Merlin does not love and desire Arthur more. The angst, the pain and the darkness are off the charts.
As for the less popular ones, I think the purest is Percival/Elyan regardless of whether you see it as romantic or platonic. There is just so much mutual love, admiration and respect between them! No angst, no lies, no triangles, no drama, just taking care of and supporting each other and living in domestic bliss.
For The Untamed:
WangXian, no contest. They fell in love as kids and continued to love each other for the rest of their lives, even beyond death. The way they love each other is so absolute and so selfless! They both respect and admire the other, they are so supportive and accepting of each other, quirks, flaws and all, and they kind of set the gold standard as far as relationships go!
27. Least shippable character?
For Merlin:
Eh... this is a tough one. I actually had to step away from this question and think about it and I didn’t come up with anything because the entire main and recurring cast is very shippable. There are, however, characters that aren’t shipped as much as they could be (Elyan, baby, you deserve better 😢), and then there are also characters that result in unsavory ships that are best left unmentioned (but because these are salty asks, I am going to mention them anyway).
The first one that came to my mind was Gaius, but he is actually very shippable because there is no rule that says you have to ship him in the canon timeline. He has a serious canon het love interest, and a crack one as well. Also, let’s not forget Uther. I’ve seen the fandom float this one as a crack ship, but it is actually very serious and plausible. There is so much complicated history there, decades of it, and definitely a deep, albeit toxic relationship that can absolutely be (and likely even was) sexual. If I was less busy and more inclined to get anon hate, I would totally be open to writing it myself.
I have seen a lot of people list Uther as an answer here, but Uther is very, very shippable! Anthony Head is handsome and charismatic, and he has so much presence as Uther, he could have chemistry with drywall if the script called for it. Again, there is no rule stating that a ship should be wholesome and happy, so let me go over the most obvious ones. When it comes to m/m ships, I already mentioned Gaius, plus I definitely felt it whenever the neighbouring kings came over to visit Camelot (my personal favourite was Lord Godwyn). Uther also has three canon het ships (why, yes, I am counting the troll), most notably Ygraine and Viivienne, and he is 100% shippable with Nimueh (though I prefer Nimueh with Ygraine). Last but not least, there is Morgana. It is squicky incest, yes, but it is also very obvious, if you have the inclination to go there. My jaw was on the floor on my first watch when he confessed that she was his actual biological daughter, because up until then, I totally thought that things would get sexual between them in canon.
Agravaine is also an obvious (I would even go as far as to say a semi-canon) ship for Morgana. Do I hate it? Yes. Do I think she slept with him to get him to deliver her Arthur’s head? Again, absolutely, yes. Even Kilgharrah is very shippable and he is a giant firebreathing lizard (obviously, laws of physics require transmorphing him into something smaller and (hopefully) human-shaped for the p0rn).
For The Untamed:
Jin Zixun and Jin Zixuan. I am forever mad Jin Zixuan (somehow) ends up having sex in canon anyway. My first thought for this was Wen Chao, but no, he is absolutely shippable. Like I said, the ship does not have to be nice, and Wen Chao is very nasty, but also very sexual (plus, there is always Wen Zhuliu).
The one character that I personally am the least inclined to ship is Wen Ning because he is so childlike and it feels like he never mentally developed into an adult.

The Strange World of Planet X
The Strange World of Planet X, also known as Cosmic Monsters, was released on a double bill with The Crawling Eye and stars Forrest Tucker of the same.  It’s got a giant spider and a deep-voiced 50’s narrator droning about the terrors of the atomic age, in a film so dry all my plants shriveled up and my contact lenses adhered to my eyeballs.
Mad Dr. Laird, with the help of his assistants Gil and Michele, is baking things in intense magnetic fields in order to rearrange the molecules and turn metal into putty – the general idea is that someday this will allow them to melt enemy planes right out from under their pilots. Would that melt the pilots, too? Gross.  At the same time and perhaps related, flying saucers are being sighted over Britain and a mysterious man named Mr. Smith is wandering around in the woods and getting worryingly chummy with local children.  After a lot of standing around and talking, Smith reveals that he is from outer space and has come to warn us that Laird’s magnetic fields are tearing apart the Earth’s ionosphere, letting in cosmic rays that will mutate humans into murderers and insects into giants!
Since my last ETNW was fairly well-paced and entertaining, the law of averages tells us that this one’s gonna be a real turd, and sure enough… remember all my griping about how Radar Secret Service was literally unwatchable, as in I could not force myself to keep looking at it?  The Strange World of Planet X is like that but with a British accent.  Most of it is just ugly gray people in ugly gray rooms, droning on about whatever at far greater length than necessary.  Everybody sounds like they’re reading their lines off cue cards, the photography was awful to begin with and the degraded print makes it really hard to tell what the hell is going on. Fuck this movie.
Tumblr media
The film’s general insufferability is made all the worse because normally giant bug movies are among my favourite types of crappy old sci fi.  What could possibly be more fun than giant grasshoppers crawling all over postcards of Chicago?  If the bug bits were fun, that would go a long way towards saving this one, but of course, they’re terrible.  It’s mostly too dark to even see the giant insects, and when we do see them, they’re nothing but close-ups of live (and sometimes dead) roaches and grasshoppers.  Only a couple of shots even attempt to composite them in with live actors and those are so dark and blurry that it frankly wasn’t worth the effort.
The other main ‘effect’ in the movie is a couple of flying saucers.  These are unidentifiable white blobs when far away, and ridiculous tinfoil models dangling from strings up close.  The pie pans in Plan 9 from Outer Space are worse… but not by much.
Tumblr media
What should be the most exciting part of the film is the battle in the woods between the soldiers and the giant bugs, but it’s mishandled in the same sort of way as the supposedly climactic fight in Invasion of the Neptune Men.  There’s no narrative or any characters we care about – just soldiers running around shooting at things.  Where are they?  How close are they to the town?  Are there civilians in peril?  We don’t know.  To be effective on screen, a battle needs a story.  The battle in Army of Darkness is about the need to protect the Necronomicon.  We can see the Deadites getting closer to the tower, as Ash pulls out more and more ridiculous secret weapons to keep them back.  The Strange World of Planet X is just random people and bugs, not even in the same shot.
There is some half-decent magnetosphere science in the movie, I guess.  The Earth’s magnetic field does protect us from the harsh radiation of outer space, although all the most harmful components of that come from the sun rather than from further afield, and such radiation can damage DNA.  This is why the ozone layer was such a big deal in the 80’s. This space radiation is much more likely to give bugs cancer than to make them grow huge, but in a movie I can handle that.  The really weird thing here is that, because they say it screens out the heaviest of the cosmic rays, they call the ionosphere the ‘heavyside layer’.  I would not have thought it possible that Cats could make less sense and yet here we are.
If you want some proper Crap Movie Science, there’s their explanation of how the monsters grew so big – mutations for size were able to pile up quickly because insects breed fast and therefore evolve fast.  I guess this makes more sense than individuals growing out of control as a result of whatever… but they appear to have applied it to a whole range of creatures regardless of their actual life cycles. Some insects do breed quickly, but quite a few of them have specific seasons and conditions for it.  This feels like a nitpick, though… I mean, by watching a giant bug movie I’ve already accepted that they can become huge so I should probably just shut up.
As an interesting note, Smith mentions that on his home planet there are giant dragonflies.  He doesn’t say how giant, though he implies they’re big enough to ride on. Firstly, man, I wanna ride a giant dragonfly!  Second, this tells us that Smith’s home planet has more oxygen in its atmosphere than Earth, because the reason insects can’t get bigger than they do is because they don’t actively breathe, but have to let oxygen diffuse into their tissues on its own (this is why there were six foot millipedes during the Carboniferous era — more oxygen in the air). The writers, sadly, do not seem to have known or cared about this, since Smith himself shows no signs of having to adjust to our atmosphere.  Missed opportunity there.
Since this is me, of course I’m gonna talk about how the movie treats women. Click the back button now. There are several female characters in The Strange World of Planet X, and while they're pretty bland they do manage to have conversations with each other about things besides men, and the honest impression I get is that the writers are trying really hard not to be assholes.  The first woman we meet is Michele, who has been assigned as Dr. Laird’s new computer operator after the previous one was electrocuted in a lab accident.  When he learns that the replacement is a woman, Laird complains about it loudly, protesting that ‘this is skilled work!’, and Gil gripes that female scientists are dour and unattractive.  Michele, of course, proves them both wrong – she is both brilliant and pretty, the latter mostly so that she can be Gil’s love interest but also at least in part to shatter the stereotype. It's thanks to movies like this setting the precedent that modern films are up to their eyeballs in hot but useless science women… but like I said, they tried.
Tumblr media
The script is actually at great pains to emphasize that Michele is intelligent, educated, and the equal of any of the men, at least where science is concerned. Unfortunately, its way of going about it is to have them praise her for every little thing she says and does, to the point where it starts to sound awfully patronizing.  They call her ‘clever girl’ like she’s six years old and it frequently comes across as their complimenting her intelligence in order to deflect when she asks awkward questions.
Naturally there’s a love triangle in this movie.  It appears only to be immediately and peacefully resolved, and Gil’s rival for Michele’s affections is dead shortly thereafter. Why fucking bother?
A tad better-treated is Jane, the little girl fascinated by arthropods (she describes them as ‘bugs’, saying all insects are bugs, but not all bugs are insects.  While entomologically incorrect, this same definition of bug was used by David Attenborough in Micro Monsters, so I’m okay with it).  One of the reasons I think the writers were earnestly trying to be feminist is because they place a girl in this role rather than a boy.  Susan Redway isn’t any better than any of the other actors, but the character was definitely written by somebody who knew what appeals to children.  I love the bit where Jane promises to show her new teacher her favourite type of beetle, delightedly informing her, “they’re horrid-looking!”
The teacher, Miss Forsyth, is another attempt to buck a stereotype. Jane complains that she hated her previous teacher, who was appalled by her interest in crawly things.  Miss Forsythe makes a good first impression by encouraging her instead.  Again, this feels like the writers really were trying.  They want to say that the right thing to do here is to support Jane’s interests and ambitions, and someday perhaps she’ll be a talented entomologist, just as Michele is a computer whiz.
Tumblr media
From a twenty-first century point of view, this makes for an odd contrast with one of the other notable features of how women are portrayed in this movie – they don’t come alone.  Adult women in The Strange World of Planet X must have a male partner, and if they don’t start out with one they will be assigned one! Michele pairs up with Gil, and Miss Forsythe accepts a date with the man who saved her from one of the mutants.  This second budding relationship has no effect on the story and indeed is never referenced again, it’s just there.  All the other women we meet are either dating or married… although now that I think of it this may be less sexist than it is a way to make a point of Dr. Laird’s single-minded obsession with his work. Everybody else, even scientists, has time to be a human being – but not him.
I should also discuss one more interesting tidbit offered by Smith. He says his people have been watching humanity and studying us basically since we invented ourselves, and they have never interfered before now.  Why now? Out of ‘enlightened self-interest’, he says – this is the closest humans have yet come to destroying ourselves, but it’s also the closest we’ve come to being a threat to our extraterrestrial observers.  One of Dr. Laird’s experiments, intended to destroy enemy planes, brought down a flying saucer instead!  The fact that Smith is willing to admit this suggests that he is extremely confident about the aliens’ ability to strike back if humanity should decided to start shooting down saucers on purpose.  The finale then bears this out… although it also left me thinking that the film could have ended very differently if only hacking had been a thing in the fifties!
So yet another instance of good ideas, unexplored and badly executed.  Also yet another black and white movie… what is that, six in a row?  Yikes.  See you in ten days, when I promise I will have something for you in colour.  It’ll be like slogging through the beginning of Season Eight and then finally arriving at The Giant Spider Invasion!

I wake before Ella as I always do. Her naked body turned away from me in sleepy splendor. The way her hip curves to her side up to the side of her breast is such a lovely view in the morning. I get up and brush my teeth before returning to wake her softly.
I graze my hand over her shape and dare to press my lips to her shoulder. That makes her stir. She turns her sleepy eyes opening them slowing as she smiles.  without saying a word she always knows what I want more than coffee every morning. She kisses my lips and I grab the back of her head with one hand keeping her here as I kiss her deeper.
Her lips on my neck do things to another part of me. As she lays sucking kisses down my torso my stomach muscles flex as another muscle is ready for her warm mouth. "Yeah, Ella. That's so good, Princess."
Her small hands always fondle my balls a great deal before she ventures a hand down my shaft to start...fuck that's new. "Ah  ah easy on the balls in your mouth, Princess. Oh damn, yeah..."
She gags as I just thrust a little into her that precious mouth. "Sorry, try again, Princess." I fucking love that choking sound. "Oh, yes...fffffuck."
She is the best and even starts the coffee before she showers. She takes an Uber leaving me with the rental car so I don't fuck the driver I guess. Maybe I should just fucking grow-up and spend my life with the women that loves me. Yeah, I don't think I'm ready yet. Maybe when we start having kids.  I'll even go to some meetings to appease her.
Sweet kisses of love before we part. Those cupcake lips make me want more time this morning but we are off to our separate jobs. Yeah, I see the camera taking pictures as I have to shift my junk in front of the apartment. Damn American photographers or paparazzi or life moment stealing trash mongers love catching an awkward moment. And I'm sure there are people that like looking at others awkward moments like we are animals in a zoo.
Steiner Studio is the other side of town. It really doesn't take me long to get there this early in the morning but I doddle and pickup another coffee at some coffee house near the studio that I heard Robert De Niro often stopped. He's not here today. It's just a place full of wanna be actors and tourists trying to bump in to him like that will make their fucking life so special.
A guard stands at the studio door where a sign said, CLOSED SET. Close set is code for secret projects or nude scenes of any kind. I guess they are going with a porn aspect of my book instead of something more philosophical. That figures. It will probably sell to the masses better. With my deal I get royalties from everything involved in the show. So the better it does at the box office the more I make.
Yes, I feel like a fucking sell out. Most people would have tried for the same deal if they got the chance. Plus I wrote the screen play and rewrote and today will probably have to write something different to get the director’s vision of my book how he wants it. The bastard doesn't care about the thought. He only cares about people being able to fuck who ever they want. And it really isn't about that. It is more fulfilling a need than an emotion.
If he gives these people fucking emotions for each other I swear I will..."Oh Hey Jake, I have the rewrites for today. You want me to stick around to rewrite on the fly if needed?"
Jake is one of the hot ass actors that just started directing. I mean I'm not really into guys usually but if I was feeling horny and he was cool I would fuck him. He was a poster boy in teen magazines in the States when he was young. When a story came out about him fucking an actress he was dating in a dressing room that was over. From what he said and what I read about, she was pretty vocal during the whole thing. There is a video on the internet that you can hear her moaning plane as day. He's a cool guy other than destroying my work.
He is a huger. I'm okay with that. I never shy away from physical contact. So he hugs me, "Hi William. Glad to see you man. Of course I want you around to see your masterpiece being filmed. I hope I don't need any more script changes at this point."
What he really means is he most definitely will need changes, so he is glad I'm down with that. "Cool, I have nothing else on my plate today other than working on my newest book but I can do that anytime."
"That's great man," He pats my back as we walk through the bar set. It gives me chills. Not the set but him patting my back. His hair is longer pulled back in a crude ponytail to keep off his face i guess. It isn't long enough for a decent manbun. "Let me introduce you to the main cast."
He takes me over to a table where I can see a blonde guy with facial scruff going over his line with a blonde that has her back towards me. She bounces her shapely leg over the other with her black heel suspended on her toes. She has the kind of legs I like. I could just crawl under the table and ease open and she would let me I bet...
"This is Rex and Randy," Jake introduced them. "Rex and Randy this is the writer of your script William Söder."
I bet she is randy. She turns and our eyes lock. Fuck it's the chick that out stayed her welcome last year, What are the fucking odds. Did she fuck Jake for the part. There is no doubt in my mind I'm going fuck her again when there is a break. "Nice to meet you Rex and..." I smile and wink at her. "Randy." She turns red which is a sure sign she wants more.
"Nice to meet you Mr. Söder." Her cheeks getting more crimson as she looks at me is fucking sexy as hell.
"You can call me William." I kept my eyes a her a few more seconds before shaking Rex's hand."You can both call me William. If you have any questions about the script feel free to ask." This gives me an excuse to be in her dressing room later. She wasn't loud as far as I remember so I shouldn't have Jake’s issue.
I sit back in a chair they marked writer. Not even my name on it. Can you believe that? I watch these actors do a basic bar pick up scene twenty times. Rex is coming off a some desperate loser who women would see and run from if they were smart. That is not how I ever pictured the guy in my book. And he is reading a fucking poetry book. He to fucking obvious he wants laid. He should be more subtle to only attract those that really just want a release.
Randy on the other hand is perfect for every take. She knows how to do this because this is what she does. This is real for her. There really shouldn't be so much dialog here. She is ready to leave with him as soon as she asks about his lame poetry book.
Great, Jake yelled cut. I can cut me another nice piece of Randy. I've never gone back for seconds before. Leaning against the wall by her dressing room door I can practically smell her excitement. She opens the door before I even knock. "Hey, you want to go over some script changes."
"Fuck more changes," she seemed more frustrated than aroused, but I can take care of...
"Mommy," a small voice squealed.
I glanced at the man holding the small child. As they walked closer, I look back to Randy who is lighting up like it is fucking Christmas morning. The man walks right over and kisses her cheek.
"What a nice surprise." I gain my composure as she introduces me. "Larry this the script writer William. He was dropping off new pages. William this is my husband Larry and our son Billy."
Shit. Before the kid buries his face in Larry's neck I saw my own eyes staring back at me. It couldn’t be. I shake Larry's hand politely as I check in his eyes. They are brown. Hers are blue. Billy looks exactly like me as a child. How the fuck.. what the fuck...
"Nice meeting you. I think you have an hour before you need to be back on set Randy. Enjoy your family time."
Fuck, fuck, fuck...

control [jeremy h. x squipped!reader] pt.6
hey gamers, remember when i was a writer?
i anticipate one more part to this fic before i wrap it up completely, and maybe i wont take four months to write this one-
warnings: none, to be honest? theres like. some angsty conversation but its not much or super heavy.
Tumblr media
The next morning, Jeremy Heere woke up to a foggy mind and new weight on his chest and side. He blinked in the light of day peeking through the blinds, drew in a deep breath, and realize this was definitely not his bedroom. At first he froze, looking to his side - where you had curled up close to him, peacefully sleeping. Then he remembered everything, all within an instant, and it was like the storm that had been brewing inside of him suddenly ceased.
Okay. Okay. This was fine. Jeremy pressed himself back into the bed, shutting his eyes - you were probably just cold, and since he was there, you just - you must have gravitated his way. It made sense. It made complete sense, actually - you were definitely still somewhat sick, so being cold made sense for you. With you curled up close to him, he couldn’t move without the risk of waking you up. So he stayed still, eyes shut as he listened to the soft sound of your breathing, acutely aware of how warm you were beside him. Why was he so... tuned into that? You were asleep. You were alive. Yet it was almost as if that was a foreign concept as he observed how warm you were, flush against his side, and how peaceful you looked when he stole a glance towards you.
So he laid back and shut his eyes, and tried to fall back asleep for a little longer and not think about the way that his arm had slightly draped over you-
Luckily, that didn’t last long. He felt you stir awake, before the weight of you on his chest was gone and he was left yearning for that little bit of warmth. He listened to you stifle a yawn.
“Shit.” Your voice was quiet. “Hey, uh, Jer?” You reached out, gently shaking him. “C’mon, dude-”
He feigned waking up as well as he could, and thankfully it seemed to fool you. “Mm?” He hummed as he looked up at you. You were bathed in the pretty sunlight of morning and that caught his attention more than it should.
“Does your dad know you’re here?” You asked.
He sat forward slowly, shifting into a more comfortable position. “I’m pretty sure he knows I’m Heere, [y/n]-”
Immediately, you jabbed him with your elbow. “That was fucking terrible, Jeremy.”
He smiled a little, the remnants of sleep having taken hold of him. He stifled a yawn, “no, uh, I didn’t - I didn’t really say anything-”
“Then... you should go home.” You froze for a moment, looking toward your bedroom door, “fuck, my parents don’t know you’re here and, uh,” you looked back at him, “they’re... gonna question why I have a guy in my room.”
He watched you crawl off of your bed, standing and stretching for a moment before heading towards your door. You held a finger up, slowly cracking your door open to peek out into the hallway, before quickly slipping through and shutting the door behind you. He stifled a yawn as he, too, climbed out of the bed with nothing but a fatigue in his bones and a weird light in his chest - and he paused as he caught sight of a Gameboy color sitting on your desk, the faded grape color having caught his eye in its contrast to your desk. He took a small step over, picking it up and pulling the game cartridge from it - and he smiled at the chubby, determined Pikachu that met him. You’d changed - that much was certain - but... there were little pieces of you still scattered about. While he never knew you to be a flower person (after all - he had caught a glimpse of dried sunflowers sitting on your desk, and a sticky note next to them to figure out where to put them that looked faded from light), or someone who... who used people, you were still you in lovely little ways that made him crack a smile and made him wonder just how many things weren’t you before? How many things exactly had been scripted out for you to follow? His stomach twisted at the thought.
Then he stumbled across your sketchbook, and did an act that he felt in his bones would be utter betrayal to you: he opened it. He hadn’t seen your art in so long, and his curiosity would have eaten him up if he hadn’t at least peeked at what you had been up to. Besides... you had to have improved, right? He knew that. He knew art was a huge part of your life and who you are, and he just-
He recognized your art. Not in the sense of it hasn’t changed, because it had drastically changed from the shitty anime style with too-pointy features and stiff poses (not that he saw anything really wrong with that - you were young, you were practicing, and even if you hadn’t improved you were in love with what you were doing). He’d seen these sketches before, posted online from an artist he followed who had actually posted not too long ago an apology for their absence. The timing was too right, the details too exact. He snapped it shut quickly the moment he heard the doorknob jiggle, turning to face you immediately as he pushed it back onto the desk behind him.
You stared at him upon opening the door, his panicked expression definitely giving him away. “Uh... you alright?”
“Yes!” Jeremy had said it too quickly, too suddenly, and you raised a brow before he continued, “I’m, uh, I’m fine - are your parents-”
“... Gone,” you said, leaving your door open as you walked towards him, “are you sure you’re alright?”
“I just. I, uh. Please don’t be mad.” Jeremy stepped aside, looking back towards your sketchbook, “I, uh, peeked.”
“You looked?” you said, more confused than angry - and he was thankful for that. “Okay?”
           “You aren’t mad?”
“I mean... you didn’t, like, destroy anything, right?” You flipped open the sketchbook, only to pause as you realized which one he had looked into - because you had been keeping two sketchbooks, one for on-the-go that was smaller and fit into your bag and another that you often left at home unless you were going on a long trip or had any other excuse to carry it with you. The one that you used for the pieces you planned, or the ones you sketched with the intent of posting them online.
“I, uh... why, uh, why didn’t you tell us?”
“Us?” You raised a brow, shutting the book as you turned away from it. “Oh. Michael. Look, Jeremy, I... considered it, but... I dunno, there’s a reason I use an alias online-”
He turned shades of red before you, averting his gaze as he understood  -mentally kicking himself for a stupid question. “That’s fine! I just - I’m, uh, surprised. You’ve... you’ve really improved, you know?”
He had caught a glimpse of your smile as you ran your fingers down the textures cover of your sketchbook. “Drawing every day does that,” you admitted with a casual shrug, before shaking your head to dismiss any further thoughts and you looked back up at him, “c’mon. I’ll walk you home.”
Tumblr media
Jeremy swore he knew too much about you.
The thought hadn’t occurred to him until one day during lunch, where you were sitting next to Michael and talking about dumb things that made you laugh - and he noticed how there was a small wrinkle in your nose when you laughed or smiled hard enough. But you laughed at the same jokes, and, fuck, was it possible to have missed someone’s laugh?
But there was Christine. He liked Christine. He knew he liked Christine. Besides - you seem so close to Rich, how are you two not dating? He was always so touchy with you, an arm around your waist casually and he knew so many facts about you.
But then again, Jeremy also knew a lot about you. He knew your favorite candy hadn’t changed (Sour Patch Kids, specifically the watermelon ones), and that you loved the peach-mango slushies from Wawa (and the lemon bars, and the sourdough melts with pepperoni). He knew you loved art so much, and he loved watching you draw and the way you furrowed your brow in frustration while paying such close attention to every little action you took whil eerasing and redrawing different parts over and over. He knew you painted your nails black without a care, and he remembered the day you had offered to paint his nails and Michael’s too (and Michael had been the one to take you up on that offer, Jeremy too nervous and flustered to say yes - how would he even explain that to his dad?).
Then there was the way you always joked alongside him. Michael was used to his lame puns and stupid jokes, usually elbowing him playfully at the first painfully bad pun before meeting the rest with a groan feigned with annoyance - but you? You laughed at him, and you made shitty puns back, and you made him smile. There was something so beautiful in your smile, and god - you were like sunshine to him. Even when you were tormented by the bullshit you’d gone through, you still had the kind of presence who lit up a room and you were still the kind of person whose presence he sort of hungrily drank in because you were so warm and loving and so, so damn nerdy that you felt like home.
And one day it was just you and him and Michael. Michael left the room, door left open as he meandered through the Heere household with expertise - and you lit up at something. And you nudged him, pointing over forwards the faded planet stickers still stuck to his bedroom door. And he smiled: you remembered them. He couldn’t believe that you would remember such a little detail like that, but... it made him feel important, in the weirdest way, and maybe he was greedy for chasing that feeling but it was so good that he was willing to accept another religion’s deadly sin if it meant he’d feel important.
And he finds himself listening to Spotify on lazy afternoons after classes, and he hears you in some songs. So he sort of smiled at that after the first few times it had happened, and made a new playlist with your name as the title - with the intention of finding some image to throw into onto it later. Michael caught him adding music to it one day, and he sorta laughed at it before nudging him.
          “So where’s my playlist, Jer?”
          Jeremy laughed it off.
And then it clicked in Michael’s mind as he looked at him, taking in the sight of the faint flush to the scrawny boy’s face as he went back to what he had been doing without much of a second thought and that stupid dreamy look in his eye that Michael had seen so many times before. “You like [y/n], don’t you?”
“What? No!” he immediately said, spinning his chair and pushing away as he looked at Michael. Then the guilt set in quick, regret pooling deep in his stomach with a nasty poison to it all. That’s when he first started to sort-of realize that you were more than a friend in his mind. But he finished your playlist that night anyway (at least - finished enough, even if he would add more tasty jams for you to enjoy at a later date) and he sent it to you.
The heart emojis you sent back made him smile.
Tumblr media
The sticky summer heat enveloped you as you took a slow, cautious step onto the front porch. Even at night, you felt as if you’d completely melt if you stayed outside for too long. But you needed this moment to yourself, to breathe and stand outside in the quiet. To pretend that Michael wasn’t snoring inside. Besides - it’d just be a few minutes. You sank down onto the porch swing that was definitely relatively new considering Michael absolutely didn’t have this a few years ago. You’d remember if he did. It swayed underneath your weight, and you shut your eyes for a moment and breathe. And it was just you.
Then the door creaked open, and you opened your eyes to see Jeremy standing halfway in the doorway, leaning out to look at you. At first he acted as if he were going to speak - but he stepped out, shutting the door behind him as he approached you.
He stopped at the edge of the swing, curling his fingers around the chain at his end. He stood there nervously, fiddling with the metal absentmindedly before he finally took in a deep breath to calm his nerves.“Are you okay?” He asked, voice quiet and laced with the dwindling remnants of sleep.
You nodded. “Yeah. I’m fine.” And you were. Tired, sure, but you were okay and you’d trade anything to just be okay forever.
Jeremy sat down next to you, absentmindedly rocking the swing back and forth. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah,” you nodded, “I just forgot how loudly Michael snores.”
He raised a brow at that. “How did you forget?”
You shrugged. “It’s been a while-”
“Yeah,” he said, “but - what’s your secret, [y/n]?” He smiled at you, “I’d do anything to forget that.”
You couldn’t help but crack a smile in return. But you didn’t respond, instead looking back out.
So Jeremy spoke again. “Can... Can I ask you something?”
“You just did,” you said without a second thought, before looking to him, “but yeah, sure.”
“You, uh, you don’t have to answer or anything, since, I, uh, I know how bad it was but...” He paused for a beat, taking in another breath to calm himself. “What was it like?”
You understood. “It’s like...” You started, pressing your lips together as you searched for the words. “It’s just a constant voice in the back of your head. Like - y’know how it feels to second guess yourself sometimes?” He nodded. You continued, “it’s - it’s sorta like that, but instead of being hard on yourself for that, you have something else making the decision to give you shit for it every fucking moment.” You wrapped your fingers around your other wrist, acutely aware of the electrical scars that now reside there, “I don’t want to go back to that.”
“I’m sorry-” He started. Then he went wide-eyed, “wait, fuck, you did this for me, right?”
“Not entirely,” you shrugged. “I mean... Rich said it’d make me cool. That people would like me, and... then, after I took it, it said it’d help make you like me.” You paused, “ugh, god, that sounds so fucking stupid when I think about it.”
“It’s not,” he said, a little too quickly, “I mean - I think it makes sense, since... I dunno, we all want to be liked, I guess?”
You blurted out your thoughts, “it wanted to... to get to you, too.” You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth for a moment. “Sorry, it - it just said you were, uh, the perfect candidate.” You forced a bitter laugh past your lips, “I wonder what the criteria for that is.” But you turned gentle, voice soft. “I, uh, I said no. You didn’t deserve... that. You deserve to be yourself, Jeremy.”
For the longest time, he was quiet. But he finally looked over at you for a moment, “what if it had been me?”
          “What?”
“What if... y’know... it had been me instead of you?”
“I... I don’t know.” You pressed your lips together into a thin, tight line as you mulled the thought over. “I don’t think we’d be sitting here right now.” Nervously, you scratched at the back of your neck. “And I think you’d be a huge dick, to be honest.”
“What!?” He turned back to you, “why?”
Your laugh was light, airy, forced. “Just a feeling.” A smile ghosted over your lips as you looked away. “You still like Christine, right?”
That caught him off guard. “Uh - yeah, I mean - I do, but - it’s, uh, it’s complicated.” He frowned.
“Oh,” you smiled, genuine this time, and turned back to him. “Another crush? That’s... actually really valid.”
“What about you?” He asked, and he ignored the hope that rose and quaked in fear inside of his chest.
You merely shrugged. “I don’t know. I... haven’t really thought about how I feel in a while. But... I think I like someone.” You paused to laugh the thought off, “god, I feel like a kid saying it like that, but...”
         And then you paused again.
“Oh my god.” You looked at Jeremy, “we’re seniors.”
In time, he wouldn’t remember the conversation exactly. He remembered the vague outline - college, majors, high school, and for a moment sex, before the air felt awkward (in... a weird way that felt good and weird at the same time, and he couldn’t exactly define why). You stood up, stretching as you turned to head back inside, and you said something to him that he didn’t remember because, if he was honest, he was lost in the way you looked in the light of the moon and stars and it made him feel like a big fucking sap. He followed you inside after a moment, laughing off the spaced-out behavior, and descended into the depth of Michael’s basement with a hope that he would get some good sleep - and if he couldn’t, he hoped at least you would. One of you should at least make it through the night with this sleeping dragon nearby.

Riverdale Season 5 Theories
So I’ve crawled out from under the rock I’ve been hiding under and discovered that there’s been some info for season 5 of Riverdale that’s been released. So far warning I’m probably going to be putting out alot of Riverdale posts, it seems my interest in the show has been reinvigorated. Seeing as some details have come out I figured I would give you my thoughts and theories on them. I did a kind of theory post previously at the end of my 4x19 review post which you can read here if you are interested and to my surprise, if these detals that have come out are accurate, then quite a few of my theories were actually on the right track. So if you would like to know my thoguhts and speculation on season 5 based on the new info then read on below the cut. Obviously there are potential spoilers for season 5.
Ok so what info has been released? Well first we had the cast calls. There were 9 (maybe 10 but I’ll get into that later) in total. Then I think it was like a day or two later we got some audition videos. There have also been a couple of little tidbits from Lili Reinhart.
I’ll start with the little tidbits from Lili. In a couple of interviews she has done we learnt two things about Riverdale. One is that the time jump is possibly going to be 7 years not 5. I personally think this is a good thing because it means that they would have had a bit of time post college to get established in their chosen careers and what not. The other thing that Lili talked about was Barchie. When asked if she had any information she could give on the future of Barchie Lili responded that she thought it was inevitable that they would have to explore the feelings that they obviously have for each other. So it does look likely that they’ll be having Barchie in a relationhsip in season 5. I’m a barchie shipper so naturally I am happy about that. I’ve said it before but I do think they need to explore those feelings whether it turns out that they are perfect together and end up as endgame or whether it ultimately doesn’t work out they need to give it a good shot because if they don’t they are going to have a hard time having a meaningful and lasting relationship with anyone because they’ll always be that what if hanging over them if that makes sense. Not sure I’ve worded that in the best way. I guess what I mean is that any relatiobship they have with other people has the potential to be ruined because of unexplored feelings flaring up anytime Barchie spend time with each other. It’s better that they give a realtionship a shot and know for sure.
Now in regards to the casting calls, the first thing I need to say is I don’t know if these casting calls are confirmed or not so we should definitely be taking them with a pinch of salt. Another reason to be cautious is that sometimes the casting calls aren’t always exactly what the role is, especially if the show runners are trying to keep some level of secrecy. For example there was a tv show I watched, Fox’s the Gifted, which was an xmen spinoff show and several cast members talked about how when the went in for their casting calls/Auditions they themselves didn’t even know who they were playing. The characters names were different on the casting call and they just gave a vague description of the characteristics of the charater. I couldn’t find all of the interviews but below is one from Amy Acker where she talks about how they were really secretive during the casting process.
Tumblr media
Now I know they are different shows but my point is the Riverdale producers could be using a similar technique and so these casting calls and videos may not be 100% accurate. Also its worth bearing in mind that even if these are accurate and they aren’t using fake names or details at all they could still change before the show airs. So we need to bare in mind that what we are seeing right now might not be in the show when it does eventually end up on tv. All of that being said here’s what my thoughts on each of the casting calls and what I think it might mean for the show going forward.
Tumblr media
So the first one is the character of Jessica who is Jughead’s girlfriend. This is one of the characters that had a casting video with it too with some potential script details. What seems to be clear from the casting description and video is that this relationship is not in the best of places. In the casting video the girldfriend is actually on the verge of moving out and talks about how Jughead cares more about the book he isn’t writing than her and she’s fed up with the debt collectors knocking on the door. I can see this going one of two ways. Either Jessica is going to be a very minor character who is only in one or two episodes where we are seeing the very end of their relationship and so Jughead arrives back in Riverdale with writers block, a huge amount of debt and a broken down relationship, It could just be a way of putting Jughead in the lowest possible place they can so that he is coming back to Riverdale very much disenfranchised and broken down. The snag in this theory is it does list her as a reurring character so unless after their entitial break up she then comes looking for Jughead or it could be that she is in flashbacks of the 7 years that has passed. I said in my predictions at the end of my 4x19 review that I believed that Jughead would be struggling to wrtie a book and would come back to Riverdale for inspiration. After seeing this casting call and video I’m even more sure of this. The question is whether he brings his girlfriend with him or not because the other option is that she isn’t a minor one episode character and that Jughead convinces her to give their relationship one last chance and to move to Riverdale with him and he makes promises that once in Riverdale things will be better, he’ll have the inspiration to finish his book and that’ll bring in some money so they’ll be able to pay off their debts and start a wonderful new life together. Of course I dont think this will work and ultimately their relationship will end. I could also see Jessica being manipulated into going against Jughead by possibly Hiram if he and Jughead have some kind of rivalry going on season 5 or if not him then whoever the big bad of the season is.
Tumblr media
Another prediction I made was that I thought Veronica would return to Riverdale engaged to a rich, ambitious man. Well according to this casting call I was half right she will return in a relationship with a rich and ambitious fellow but they won’t be engaged they’ll actually be married. Like Jughead and his girlfriend it doesn’t look like this relationship is going so well. They haven’t painted a great picture of Veronica’s husband describing him as controlling and neurotic but well are any of us really surprised that Veronica ended up married to a man that from the sounds of it is just like her father? This was another one where there was also a casting video. In it we learn that they were both involved in a plane crash and that nearly killed Veronica. The interesting thing to me was in the casting video Chad came across as seeming to generally care about Veronica. He talks about how when the plane was going down he prayed that she would be the one to survive. However there seems to be some conflict between them where Chad wants to start a family together and try to have a baby whereas Veronica doesn’t seem quite so eager to try for a baby. I did think that maybe they would go with a storyline that Veronica’s injuries from the plane crash actually resulted in her being unable to have children but that she is hiding that from her husband for what ever reason whether its because she doesn’t want to disappoint him or for another reason. Of course it could also just be that she doesn’t want kids. She also claims that Chad is using the accident as an excuse to control her, So there definitely seems to be some trouble in paradise here. To be honest I’m not as sure as I was with Jughead and Jessica that this relationship will end in season 5. While not being in a great place right now Veronica and Chad seem to have a deeper relationship. I could see this realtionship lasting possible into season 6. Though it does say that Chad’s life is in danger which makes me think it might be a case of they don’t break up but that he is killed. Then we’ll see Veronica trying to work through that loss of her husband and working through that mixture of emotions because on one hand their relationship wasn’t great but at the same time he was still her husband.
The other less likely route they might take is that they might actually give her husband a redemption arc. It’s possible that they’ll make him a character that makes really horrible decisions and behaves badly this season but then in season 6 they have him getting back on the right path and making some character growth.
Another one of my predictions was that I thought Veronica while back in Riverdale might decide to try and make Le Bonne Nuit into a franchise or that it was doing poorly and she wanted to give it another kick start. This is another that I think I might potentially be half right with. Which brings me to the next casting call.
Tumblr media
So it looks like we are going to be meeting Pop Tate’s granddaughter and that she wants to turn Pop’s into a franchise. Now correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure Veronica is the current owner of Pop’s. So it is possible that Tabitha will take her idea to Veronica and then her and Veronica will work together to turn it into a franchise. Maybe they make some deal where Tabitha can become a partner in the business if they are successful. It has listed Tabitha as a series regular so it looks like we could see quite a bit of her which I’m looking forward to she could be quite an interesting character and it looks like she has alot of ambition and drive so I could see her getting on well with Veronica.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok so this one caught me a little by surprise but gives us a pretty good idea of what is coming next for Archie. Where we left off in season 4 Archie was all set to go off to the Navy Academy where they had a highly competitive boxing program and had made it clear that he wanted to persue a boxing career. However from these casting calls it doesn’t seem like that is what is going to happen, instead it seems Archie is going to join the army. From what we can gather Archie will approach the Army recruitment table so there must be some kind of job fair at school or something. Officer Bradshaw gives Archie some information but stresses to him that it is a serious commitment. Now here’s the thing up unitl now Archie has been very fickle when it comes to deciding what he’s going to do with his life. He can never seem to focus on one goal and has trouble sticking to it when he does take an interest in something. First it was the whole music or football thing, then it was wrestling, then boxing, the youth center, the navy academy. So I think the army might be good for him because it is something he will have to stick to at least until his term of service is up. I said in my prediction post that the show had a problem with Archie as at the time the time jump was said to be 5 years and if Archie went to the naval academy then he would have to do the 4 years in college and then 5 years active service. Which means a 9 year period where he would be away from Riverdale that doesn’t fit in with the 5 year time jump. Him joining the army essentially solves this problem. Now I’m not an expert on the US Military but from what I understand most first term enlistments are 4 years of active duty and 2 years of inactive. This fits in a lot better with that time jump. Also again from what I understand the military also offer shorter terms of service from 2 years, 3 years, 4 years or 5 years. This gives alot more flexibilty for the show to explain why he’s no longer in the military and back in Riverdale. Which brings me to the next part of my speculation. Why is Archie back in Riverdale? Again going back to my prediction post I offered the possibilty that one way they could get Archie back to Riverdale is for him to be injured on duty. Again half right on this one. There will be an injured soldier but its Archie’s friend Eric, not Archie. The casting description talks about how Eric loses his leg and sustains third degree burns when fighting in the Army with Archie. This tells us that Archie was likely with Eric when he was injured. It is possible that Archie was also injured but not to the extent that Eric was. I have a theory that the storyline that they are going to take with Archie is one of survivor’s guilt I suppose you could call it. Archie has always been that character who wants to protect people and save them. So if his friend was injured then I could see Archie carrying alot of guilt that he didn’t save his friend from being injured. I also suspect whatever happens to cause the injury will likely have also killed some of their friends and comrades so he could also be feeling guilty about not being able to save them. This would explain why he becomes a firefighter. I suspect Eric gets injured in some kind of explosion and if that explosion happened inside a building then its highly posible that the building caught on fire and that caused even more death and injuries. This could be what drives Archie to become a firefighter because he resolves to never let anything like that happen to one of his friends again, because he doesn’t want to feel useless, he wants to be able to save people when they need saving and also to some extent to make up for not being able to save his friends, like he thinks if he can save as many people as possible then it’ll help make up for what he preceives as his failure in the army. Whatever happens it was clearly something very traumatic which is why I also think Archie will have PTSD. His friend might possibly have it too from the way they talk about him dealing with his own trauma and going down a dark path. But I do think they might use Eric to portray the kind of physical injuries war can cause and the effect that has on a person and use Archie to show how war can also cause mental injury and how that effects a person. If it is done well then I do think it is an important story to tell. I just hope they treat it with the respect and sensitivity it deserves which I am sure they will.
Another thing I want to touch on quickly is the casting call for a bus driver that takes Archie to the army. In the description they say that the bus driver stops so that Archie can say goodbye to his friends. I said that I thought Betty and Archie were going to have a really emotional kind of goodbye scene. I mentioned how whilst over the last season Betty had been faced with the possibilty of losing Jughead on a couple of occasions she’s never had to think about what it might be like to lose Archie. I also said I thought at what was going to be the end of season 4 a moment would come where Betty would be hit with the realisation that she and Archie are going to be going their seperate ways and might not see each other again. I think this will be that moment. I could see it happening like this. After they’ve all had the big explosive arguments after its revealed that Betty and Archie kissed they will all be angry at each other and not talking. But they realise that they can’t all go their seperate ways angry at the ones they have cared about the most over the last few years and so they all decide to make up. When Betty, Jughead and Veronica get to Archie’s house to patch things up they find out from his mother that he already left for the bus. The three of them race to the bus station to try and catch him before the bus leaves but just miss it and try running after it. This is when Archie notices them and begs the driver to stop the bus which the driver agrees to. Archie then gets off the bus and has one on one conversations with each of them, all very emotional and heartfelt. I also think that when Betty talks to him she will confess that she does have feelings for him but they’ll both agree that the time isn’t right for them right now. So then the core four all go off to their schools etc on ok terms, things are awkward but not hostile anymore. Now what I am going to suggest next could be a bit of a reach fuelled by the fact that I’m a barchie shipper but I do think its possible that after the trauma that causes Eric’s injury happens and Archie returns to Riverdale, Betty might hear that Archie isn’t doing so well and comes back to Riverdale to support him through it all.
Tumblr media
So speaking of Betty I was actually really excited when I saw the audition video for this character because it seems like Betty will be coming back to Riverdale as a FBI agent which is exactly what I predicted would happen. I said that I thought she seemed to be really interested in the FBI Juniour program and thought she might continue to persue that career path. In the casting video the FBI agent doesn’t come across that well as he is first telling Betty off and then is asking her out and getting mad when she refuses. When he asks her to dinner she says that she can’t because she is meeting friends for thai. I do wonder if the friends she is meeting are Archie and maybe Eric. It could also be that this scene takes place after everyone is back in town and she is talking about Archie, Veronica and Jughead, they could be meeting up for a catch up. The desciption says that this character is recurring which as we know the characters are going to be in Riverdale makes me assume that the FBI will also be in Riverdale. The question is were they already there when Glen and Betty have the conversation about going out to the dinner or do they arrive later and Betty was actually somewhere else and not back in Riverdale yet? It’s possible that maybe the FBI decided to set up a permanent office in Riverdale as there were so many murders and other criminal activities going on. But I don’t know I guess we’ll see. None the less Glen’s character sounds really interesting it says that he’s the one that makes tough decisions when operations go haywire so I am expecting some things to go wrong. I do get the feeling that Betty is going to be struggling to follow the procedures the FBI have in place as before she just pretty much did what she wanted when it came to investigating mysteries. Now she’s is going to have to follow rules and boundaries and I think that is going to frustrate her a lot because she’ll feel like she’s not able to help as much and I do think its going to get her in hot water with her bosses a few times. The audition tape that I saw for this character might also have a clue in it as to what the next season mystery is which links into the next casting call.
Tumblr media
Ok so not only do I think this casting call could be further evidence that Jughead is looking for inspiration for his book but as I said above it could give us a clue as too what the next Riverdale mystery is. In the script for the audition tape of Glen Scot the part of Betty starts talking about missing person cases and how she thinks they might be linked. (I’m sorry I haven’t got the videos for you, I tried looking for them again but just couldn’t find them anywhere.) But anyway in the description above it’s talking about a paranoid old man whose friends all disappeared. Now this guy thinks that it was because they were abducted by aliens. Now as wacky as Riverdale is I don’t think they are actually going to have aliens show up but you never know. I actually think there is going to be some other explaination for why these people are disappearing. What is interesting to me is the Mothman reference. For those who aren’t familiar with it the Mothman legend began in November 1966 when a gravedigger saw a mysterious winged creature that resembled a human and had glowing red eyes. Three days later in a place called Point Pleasant, two couples in a car spotted the same strange winged creature. In the next few days a further 8 sighting were reported including a report from two volunteer firefighters. This point in particular was interesting to me because we know of two firefighters (potentially volunteers) who will be in Riverdale, Archie and Eric. So my theory is that Archie and Eric are going to see some mysterious winged creature similar to that of the Mothman. The other thing that is intriguing about this legend is that many people came to believe that the Mothman was an omen of doom. This was because a year after the first sightings the town’s bridge, which was packed with cars, collapsed, killing 46 people. As time went on and the legend evolved people began to link it to other disasters including chernobyl, the mexican swine flu outbreak and the nuclear disaster of Fukushima in Japan. Because of the whole harbringer of doom part of the legend I actually think that after several of the characters see this creature some big catastrophe will happen where either alot of people die or there is a mass disappearance of some kind. Another element of the legend is that some people have also made ties between the Mothman and UFO activity which ties in with the character description where this guy is familiar with the Mothman legend and also believes aliens are responsible for his friends disappearance. I’m quite interested to see where they take this storyline if it is the one they are taking. I don’t think they will actually have supernatural creatures in the show so it is much more likely it’ll be similar to the gargoyle king where its a person that is exaggerated into a scary creature because of drugs in peoples system. They’ve spent so much time on jingle jangle and fizzle rocks that I think that its something that will continue on into season 5. I mean I’m pretty sure someone has been drugged at one point or another in pretty much every season so.
Tumblr media
Ok so this character I’m not really sure how she is going to fit into the plot. In the audition tape for Chad, Veronica’s husband, he mentions that they were on their way to Miss Marble’s vinyard when their plane went down so its likely that this character is linked to Veronica in some way. If she is linked to Veronica then she might also be linked to Hiram as well. The description doesn’t give away alot but it does paint a picture of someone who enjoys having money and I get the sense that she is willing to go to potentially shady levels to get money. The part about using her power of persuasion makes me think that she’s going to be blackmailing people because well its Riverdale and thats how you persuade someone in the Riverdale. The thought did cross my mind that she might be using her Art Appraiser job as a front for some shadier business but we won’t know until the next season comes out.
The last casting call I’m going to talk about I want to put a very large disclaimer in front of because to be perfectly honest I am pretty sure that it’s fake. But on the off chance that it is real (highly unlikely in my opinion) I figured I’d give you my thoughts on it anyway.
Tumblr media
So I saw a few people talking about this one. Alot of people seem to think that if it is real then this is Betty’s daughter. To be honest I can’t see that being a thing. And the reason why is firstly because of the part about the father being a mystery. Now if Betty had been intimate with Archie then I might think it more likely because that would cause some doubt over who the father could be Jughead or Archie. As it stands though if it was Betty’s daughter and she was concieved just before the time jump then obviously it would be Jughead’s so there’s no mystery there. The other reason why I doubt it could be Betty’s child is because they actually had a plotline where Alice found Betty’s birth control so we know that Betty is on birth control, I know that it can fail but I just don’t see them going that route with her especially as she was very vocal about how she didn’t want to be pregnant while in school like her mother and sister.
Ok so if this is real and it’s not Betty’s daughter then whose is it. It’s obviously not going to be Alice or at least is incredibly unlikely its going to be Alice. I personally think that it would be Polly. I mean it would definitely have that air of mystery about it. At the moment she is in a mental hospital but we don’t know where she’ll be at what would have been the end of season 4 or after the time jump. I could see it going the way of Polly hasn’t been in contact with anyone in the 7 years and no one had really heard from her and then all of a sudden she shows up with a child in tow and refuses to reveal who the father is. Most likely knowing Riverdale it’ll turn out to be Veronica’s husband’s and they’ll write in some strange way that Polly and Chad are connected. But like I said before I don’t believe that this is a real casting call I think its a fake made up by a fan. The main reason for this is because whilst I found these images on google image search the THS logo is for That Hashtag Show. If you go to their website you ca find reports for every single one of these casting calls apart from the Juliet Cooper one in fact I can’t find a even halfway official report of this casting call so I don’t think its legit at all.
So to wrap it up I want to finish with what I think might bring everyone back to riverdale. The time jump being 7 years actually knocks out two of my theories. First one was a school reunion but they don’t do 7 year reunions I’m fairly sure. The other theory I threw out was that they would again make a pact to meet up in 5 years and see how they are all doing. Again this one is no longer relevant because the time jump is seven. So that leaves only one of my theories which is everyone coming back for Choni’s wedding. Personally I am hoping it is this one. Anyway that is all for now. Thank you for reading.

Queen! I have come to ask another question if you don’t mind! After reading “Longest Night” I have been wanting to start writing so I can produce works as amazing as yours! The only thing is... I don’t know how to write well... For example my dialogue is boring like “Marinette said”, and when I end up writing a chapter it’s so short and fast paced. I want to produce a story like you did, long, intense, exciting! Do you have links, information, anything for a beginner writer? Much appreciated!
ME? QUEEN?? I’M HONORED!!
(I am not a professional writer, and what I say below is not gospel, but what I do in my own writing.)
Now, hold on. Boring? Let’s say simple. Which is absolutely fine. You have to start somewhere, and you only get better with practice. For me, I read a lot of older novels for examples of writing.
Tumblr talks about fancy writing. They like to say ‘don’t use said’ ‘don’t use their names over and over’. Except I totally do. If you use ‘said’ a lot, people stop reading it. It acts like a colon, like in a script. You can flavor it of course, by using ‘whispered’ and ‘shouted’ appropriately. Sometimes I just replace it with an action.
She moved closer to the door. “What did you say?”
That acts as a tag for the person talking. But you don’t have to come up with a hundred different ways to say ‘said’.
Same thing with name tags. The more you use careers, ages, hair color, anything, the more it interrupts the sentence. It’s fine to be simple and just use names. DON’T USE HAIR COLOR! I used to do it, but when I did notice that it wasn’t good writing, I started to notice it in things I was reading.  If there’s only two people talking, one male, one female, ‘he’ and ‘she’ should suffice for tags.
Every time someone new talks, tag the dialogue.
Example of what NOT to do:
The designer exasperated, “Adrien, this habit is making your grades slip.”
The blond moaned, “Dad, you just don’t understand! I’m expressing myself!”
The father articulated, “yes, but rollerderby is a waste of time, and not to mention dangerous.”
The fencer uttered, “It’s who I am, Father! It’s in my blood!”
While none of this is necessarily wrong, I find it distracting. You can mention hair color once, to let the readers know that character’s hair color. But I wouldn’t use it as a tag. Using careers or age is fine if the character is not introduced. I used that a lot in Longest Night for the henchmen in the background.
An arm linked with his and pulled him away. “Oh Chat Noir, you shouldn’t drink that. The floor is dirty…”
Grimalkin whined, and met the eyes of the stranger.
No, not a stranger. A tall man, wearing a gray and pink suit with a hat. Mr. Ramier. “Thank you for stopping those muggers, even though you’re in no condition to do so.”
Grimalkin wanted to hiss and pull away and hide, but the pigeon man had always been kind to him. Unless he was akumatized, and even then, it was a relief to be fighting him.
“Come along now, the police will be here any minute.”
Grimalkin whined again and tried to pull away, with little effort.
“Mr. Kemper wants you to hide in the back room. No doubt they’re looking for you!”
He…wanted him to hide? That was unexpected, but not unwelcome. Grimalkin followed Mr. Ramier to the back room that Mr. Kemper was gesturing to.
Up until the bolded sentence, the owner of the store Grimalkin was in was only referred to as ‘the owner’ because he didn’t have a name. After Mr. Ramier says the name out loud, the tag changes from ‘the owner’ to ‘Mr. Kemper’.
In English classes all through High School, teachers told you not to use run on sentences or incomplete sentences. But, I tend to use both. In fiction writing, a lot of the rules don’t apply. Grammar is still pretty hard and fast, but sentence structure is more loosy goosy. Run on sentences for fast paces sections that go on and on and makes you hold your breath and hold the anxiety. And incomplete sentences. To make you breathe. Focus.
Commas and periods make you breathe. Which. is. why. you. read. this. sentence. like. you. have. Asthma. Using punctuation is a must, but it’s also a handy tool for setting the tone.
I write dialogue the way I talk in real life. Incomplete sentences, pauses, and stuttering in the form of repeated words with a dash. I was recently told by a reviewer that I use ellipses (...) too much in my writing, and that it’s distracting. So, use that one to your own discretion.
Marinette said, “Adrien, I need to talk to you.
Adrien looked at her. “Sure what’s up?”
“I just wanted to let you know...I have feelings.”
“Feelings?”
“Feelings.” She confirmed, a little too firmly. “For...you.”
His eyebrows raised. “Are they...good feelings?”
Alya leaned in. “Good. Good feelings, Sunshine.”
“Okay, they’re good feelings. Would you care to clarify?”
She opened her mouth, pausing, and then, “No.”
“Marinette...” Alya gave her a look.
“Okay, yes. Alright.”
Adrien just stared at Marinette, his eyes kind. Never judging. He was her friend, wasn’t he? He cared about her. Surely, he’d never laugh at her or be offended by her being completely and utterly in love with him--
“I...I love you.” She blurted.
His eyes widened.
“I’m-I’m in love...with you. Is what I mean. I mean, anyone would love you. And even if I wasn’t in love with you, I’d still love you, you know? Even Alya loves you! Right Alya?”
Alya just rested a hand on her forehead.
“Right, so,” Marinette continued. “I’m just...just letting you-you know, know? And I hope that’s-that’s cool with you. That I’m cool with you, er, that you’re cool with me. Loving you.”
“Marinette.” Adrien said.
“Hm?” She squeaked.
“It’s more than cool. It’s amazing.”
Now, as far as pacing. That’s something you’ll have to learn as you go, because I haven’t found a hard rule for pacing. For Longest Night, I have sections that are very flowery:
Paris was a city trapped in time. The rain blurred the past from the future, the happy and the sad, the night and the day. Erik Satie tried to emulate this effect with his Gymnopedie, and the impressionist painters worked with soft edges to create an atmosphere of calming mystery.
Here, on the sidewalk somewhere in Montparnasse, Adrien and Marinette, or rather, Grimalkin and Lady Lacrima, stood in the haze, freedom and imprisonment blurring lines. They were out, Salo was dead…
But it didn’t really feel real.
This section creates an opening scene. It describes the setting and gives the audience a clear image in their mind about what it’s like. But there’s nothing actually happening. The main characters are standing still, and there’s rain. I could have easily just said:
It was raining. Grimalkin and Lady Lacrima embraced on the sidewalk. They were free, but it didn’t feel like it.
This is saying the exact same thing, only more concise and with less imagery. Now, if that wasn’t confusing enough, consider not dragging it on for too long. Leave some of it up to the imagination. If I pick up a fic, and the first three paragraphs are talking about how the light is so gently flittering into the room, I might just glaze over.
It was the perfect temperature. Not too hot, not too cold. A soft bed, cradling her as if she was fragile, and a warm blanket weighing her to the bed. A soft ambient light held back the darkness, but didn’t pierce through her lids.
Marinette tried to open her eyes, caked as they were. The light was dim, illuminating gridded ceiling titles immediately above her. It smelled faintly of chemicals, while a droning hiss carried through the air. Her neck ached, but as she tilted her head, she briefly looked around the room. No one to her left, though she did see a strange machine and a metal stand, an IV stand. A tube ran from the bag down to her arm. A door cracked open revealed a bathroom and another door on the far side of the room was closed, but silhouetted figure stood in the window.
To her right, she found the owner of the voice, her own mother, sitting in a chair by her side, hand in hers, and reading from a book. Jane Eyre, as it looked. Farther down the bed, her father sat in another chair, his hand wrapped loosely around her foot.
Behind her parents, orange light filtered through the light curtains.
A bright red blob caught her attention. Tikki laid curled up on her chest.
A moment more, allowing her brain to digest all she could see, and she realized she was in a hospital.
I took the time to really flesh out the setting in this chapter for a few reasons. A) We’ve never seen this hospital room in the TV show, so we have no visuals for what it looks like. B) I’m describing it from Marinette’s point of view. She doesn’t know what the machines are for, and she doesn’t know who the person standing in the door is. I, as the author, would know, but even though this is written in 3rd person, it’s limited.  I’m giving everyone the same knowledge that Marinette has.
I wrote a one shot that all goes very fast. It never really slows down. That’s because I never felt the need to slow things down. There’s a few sections where I really described the anxiety that Marinette was feeling, using her senses and what she was doing.
As Marinette looked across the three girls, her stomach churned with unpleasant feelings. Nerves, nausea, dread…
And idea popped into her head, speaking in a voice that sounded a lot like Tikki. But she simply waved it away with a shake of her head.
‘Please please please don’t be embarrassing and try to ruin this in a fit of jealous rage.’ Alya’s voice piped up, as the angel on the other shoulder.
She swallowed, and looked to Adrien.
He was hunched in his seat, his leg bouncing quickly. She couldn’t see his face, but his body spoke of uncontested anxiety.
Her voice crawled up her throat, resolution pumping through her veins, pounding in her ears, sweating through her palms.
This was a bad idea, a very very bad idea—
“Excuse me, Mr. Agreste?” She blurted, right as he was about to speak.
All eyes were on her, and she felt the immense pressure of it all. This was not like being Ladybug. These weren’t akumas and she had no authority in her civilian clothes.
“Yes, Miss Dupain-Cheng?”
Gabriel looked right at her, staring her down. But his tone held no judgement or impatience. Just curiosity.
“I was hoping, if it isn’t too late. May I also throw my proverbial hat in the ring?”
“You?”
“Yes. Of course, I know I wasn’t invited. So I understand if it’s a no.”
Gabriel was quiet a moment, thinking.
Adrien, however, was staring at her, mouth open, eyes wide. Utterly gobsmacked.
“Adrien, do you have any objections to having Miss Dupain-Cheng join the others in the interview?”
He breathed, his whole body relaxing in one sweep. “No, I don’t mind at all.”
Maybe it was the nerves, but Marinette could have sworn he looked relieved.
“Then I see no problem. Please bring your chair over with the others.”
“Thank you sir,” she said, humbly.
By jumping into Marinette’s head for a second, we kind of pause time. Just for a moment. Enough to make it interesting.
Wow this went on for a while. I hope it was helpful and that I didn’t come off as condescending anywhere! Happy writing!!

Blood in the Water (Sequel to Such a Softer Sin) Chapter 5
Tumblr media
(Chapter 1)
(Chapter 2)
(Chapter 3)
(Chapter 4)
I’m using both the script and the movie to help with dialogue and shit, using just the movie was proving too time-consuming. The script is so different to the movie, it's crazy. I’m taking some liberties with the timeline, the movie has me confused. St Patty's day back then was on a Wednesday, but when Rocco talks about hitting the Sin Bin to get Vincenzo, he says he's there every Wednesday, but it doesn't seem like a week goes by before they do it, I don't know. Maybe I’m missing something, either way, if the timeline seems weird, I’m being creative to be able to fit my own shit inside the canon stuff.
Mad props to fanfic writers that always write their fics canon, cause this shit is hard as fuckkk.
---------------------------------
Lila woke the next morning with a start, and her head whipped around, eyes scanning the loft for the boys in hopes they came home when she was asleep and didn't want to wake her. She was alone though, the loft felt eerie without them and her stomach lurched. Why didn't they come back? Or at least call? What if something happened? She needed to get out of the fucking loft. Maybe she should buy some new towels for when the boys got back. She got dressed in some clean jeans and a dark green shirt, slinging on her hoodie and boots and throwing her hair up in a messy high ponytail before she left.
She was almost at the store when she saw Rocco at a payphone, she blinked for a moment, he looked tense and weird, she wondered if maybe he had heard from the boys. She started to make her way over when she saw him cross the street, going into the deli. She followed after him and walked through the door, just in time to see Rocco shooting someone. Her eyes widened and she almost fell on her ass as Rocco took out another almost instantly and then came over, shooting the man behind the counter, yelling like he’d lost his damn mind. Suddenly he turned the gun on her, eyes wild as he stared at her. When he realised it was her, she saw confusion cross his face before he stuffed the gun in his jeans and grabbed her wrist, dragging her out of there.
“We gotta go! We gotta fuckin’ go!” He yelled, dragging her so fast she almost tripped a few times. She didn't have the chance to protest as he stuffed her in the passenger side of his car, getting in and pulling out with a screech.
“What the fuck Rocco?!” She yelled, looking at him like he had grown three heads. She had just witnessed her best friend fucking kill three people in broad daylight. Had everyone she knew lost their fucking minds?! He was yelling incoherently, something about being set up, and Lila was struggling to keep up with him.
“This is all your fuckin’ boys fault!” He shouted, hitting the steering wheel. He was going so fast Lila thought she might get thrown from the car.
“What?! You know?” She asked warily, she didn't know how else to take his words.
“Of course I fuckin’ know, I walked in after they took out those nine fuckin’ guys at the Plaza! Fuck!” Lila blinked at him, looking at him confused.
“Rocco, where are they?” She asked firmly, making him glance to her. He was dripping in sweat and looked like he was about to crawl out of his skin.
“They're at my place, we went back there last night and got wasted.” He muttered, eyes darting everywhere as he made a sharp turn and Lilas head almost hit the window.
“They’re with you?!” She roared, making his eyes widen as he looked at her, he just blinked not knowing what to say.
“They couldn't even fucking call me to tell me they’re alive?!” She was fucking furious and Rocco knew he’d landed them in shit.
“You know about the shit they're doin’? Some crazy ass bullshit if you ask me.” He ran a hand through his damp wild hair.
Lilas' chest was heaving, she had been so worried and they'd been at Rocco's, they knew she’d be at the loft yet they didn't even bother to call her to ease her worries. Rocco looked at her and he could see just how pissed she was.
“Shit, I didn't think you knew alright? Shit's been fuckin’ hectic. Fuck! I can't believe I just…” Lila focused on staring out the window and Rocco preceded to tell her everything he knew, from the second the boys dragged him in the Plaza with masks on, to him fucking killing the cat by accident, everything up to what led him to commit murder in the deli. She wasn't sure if he was telling her for her benefit or his, like he needed to just get it all out there to make sense of it all.
When they got to his place, he hit the brakes so hard that she yelped, he was gone in an instant, running into his house like a mad man. Lila got out, following after him slowly, still angry to fuck at the boys and she could hear Rocco yelling at them to pack their shit.
“Alright, I love this shit!” She heard Murphy yell excitedly, she would have smiled if she didn't want to throttle the shit out of him. There was more shouting and as she finally made her way to his front door, Rocco was waving his gun around as he shouted at Donna and her friend, both of them clearly high as fuck. She saw the boys stuffing things in bags and they hadn't noticed her yet, but then she looked back to Rocco as he pointed a gun at Donna's friend as he screamed at her, the woman was wailing and Lila squinted unimpressed with her best friend. He’d seriously lost his fucking shit.
“Rocco! Put it the fuck down!” She yelled, storming over and tugging his arm away.
The boys' heads snapped up hearing her voice and they stilled completely seeing her there. Rocco groaned, stuffing the gun back in his pants as he looked to Lila with a regretful sigh. When she turned back around, the boys looked at her with such guilty scared faces and she narrowed her eyes at them.
“Let's get the fuck outta here!” Rocco grumbled, pushing Lila out of the door and the boys following behind with bags. Murphy reached for her arm and she yanked it away from him, giving him such an intense look he actually recoiled.
“Lila…” Connor started, frowning at her. She just turned her back and followed Rocco who was still muttering to himself.
Connor sighed as they got to the car, looking to Rocco who still looked halfway to insane.
“Listen Roc, did anybody see ye?” Connor asked, looking to his friend concerned. Shooting up the deli in the middle of the day was hardly a good plan.
“Of course they fucking saw him! He lost his fucking shit, he pulled his gun on me!” Lila shouted, making Rocco's eyes widen and look at her guilty.
“Ye did what?!” Murphy yelled, smacking Rocco upside the head.
“Wait a fuckin’ minute, Lila was there? Ye left tegether?” Connor asked carefully, glancing from Lila to Rocco. It didn't take a rocket scientist to put the pieces together, if people saw Rocco do it and then leave with Lila, she was wanted just as much. Whether that was by the police or by the mafia themselves.
“For Christ sake Roc! Now look what ye've done!” Murphy growled, kicking the side of the car in frustration. Rocco raked a hand through his hair, tugging on it a little, looking more than guilty.
“I wouldn't have been at the deli if I hadn't woken up alone, worried about you two fuck heads. I left the loft to distract myself.” Lila glared at the twins, making sure they fucking knew they were in deep shit with her.
“Lila, look, we’re sorry alright?” Connor sighed, looking at her warily. She just scoffed bitterly.
“Yeah okay… You went off and killed a bunch of assholes, then decided to get shit faced with Rocco. You didn't even think about me, it's like I don't even exist anymore!” She sneered, fists clenching by her sides.
“O’ course we thought about ye, how can ye even say that?” Murphy frowned, getting upset as he stared at her.
“Don't fucking lie to me! If you thought about me even once, you would have used your fucking brain and called me!” She yelled, shoving Murphy hard in the chest, venting her anger out on the closest twin. He stumbled back a minute before he pushed her back with a scowl, lightly of course otherwise she would have flown backwards, but it was enough to make her growl at him.
“We had a lot o’ shit goin’ on! Doesn't mean we didn't think about ye!” He snapped, getting in her face. She didn't back down though as she glared at him.
“And whose faults that? You two chose to go out there and do what you did, all you had to do was let me know you were fucking okay.” She seethed. Connor grabbed her arm and pulled her away from Murphy as Lila continued her stare off with him.
She shook Connor off her and got in the back of the car, slamming the door behind her. The twins shared a look and sighed. They knew they'd messed up. They should have called her. There wasn't really a good enough excuse not to have called her. They were dealing with this new calling and had a lot going on with them, they just thought she would be asleep by the time they were done and they planned on checking in with her in the morning. They knew they'd fucked up, seeing how upset she was, how worried she had been, the guilt settled into their bones and they weren’t sure how to make it up to her, not when they knew they were not finished carrying out their special brand of justice. There were more people to get rid of now, and they weren't sure how Lila was going to deal with it.
Rocco got in the back with her whilst Connor took up driving, Murphy in the passenger seat with his leg up on the dash. Lila remained silent and Rocco kept looking at her like a kicked puppy.
“You know I wasn’t gonna shoot you, right?” He asked quietly, not wanting the boys to hear, they were already mad enough that he had pulled a gun on their girl.
“I know Roc, don't worry, you’re fine.” She gave him a weak smile and he relaxed, feeling better. He hadn't really expected the girl to just be there at the deli, he felt like he’d really got her knee-deep in shit now, she was associated with him after what he did.
They were on their way to Rocco's mom's house, she was out of town and it seemed like a good place to hide out for now.
“Connor, stop the car! Stop the fuckin’ car man!” Rocco exclaimed, making Lila jump a little as Connor pulled the car up. It was outside what looked to be a strip club and Lila quirked a brow at Rocco.
“Vincenzo, that fat mother fucker, Yakavetta’s right hand. He's the one who set me up. Then he went around shootin’ his mouth off, tellin’ everyone I was as good as dead. He goes in there every Wednesday night around 10:00, he jerks off to the same titty dancer. Never misses.” He spoke animatedly, eyes flitting from one brother to another. Lilas' eyes narrowed slightly, starting to see why Rocco was telling them this and not liking it one bit.
“Yeah, so?” Murphy looked back at him, quirking a brow.
“So let's kill the motherfucker! I mean, what are you guys... like that's your new thing right?!” He asked, sitting forward a little, his eyes going wild again. Lila shifted in her seat feeling fucking uncomfortable. They were talking about killing someone. A bad person yeah, but still a fucking person. When did her boys and Rocco start acting like talking about murder was just taking someone out for dinner?
Connor pulled a face and looked to his brother before back in front of him.
“Yeah...well…” He sounded hesitant, waving his hand dismissively.
“Oh, what the fuck? I mean, who makes the cut? Is there a raffle or somethin’?!” Rocco asked exasperatedly. Lila might have laughed at his reaction if it wasn't for the fact they were talking about murder.
“Well te tell ye the truth, those first ones, they just sorta fell inte our laps.” Murphy admitted as he glanced back at Rocco again, his eyes falling onto Lila. She wasn't looking at any of them and he could see she was feeling awkward about the whole thing. He felt bad for shouting at her, it had just hurt him, offended him for her to say he hadn’t thought about her, he always fucking thought about her. He reached back hesitantly, fingers brushing her knee softly, making her eyes snap to his. For a brief second, he saw his beautiful Lila, eyes full of love and adoration, but it was like she remembered she was mad at them and suddenly her eyes went cold before she looked away. He moved his hand with a sigh feeling the sting of rejection build in his chest.
“Well, what d’ya do?” Rocco asked confused, looking between the boys.
“We haven't really got a system for decidin’ who Roc, its uh…” Connor stumbled, trying to find the right words for his strangely excited friend. Rocco looked between them both getting more and more worked up, he looked like he was about to burst at the seams.
“ME! Me! I’m the guy! I know everyone! Their habits, who they hang out with, who they talk to. I got phone numbers! Addresses! I know who they’re fuckin’! I know where they live!... We could kill everyone…” He sounded so in awe of his own plan and Lila slowly turned to look at him like he was crazy. Murphy pursed his lips like he was actually thinking about it as he turned to his brother.
“So, what do ye think?” He asked seriously, making Lila roll her eyes and shake her head.
“I’m strangely comfortable with it.” Connor replied nonchalantly, making Murphy smirk as Rocco huffed a laugh.
“This is...wow...you assholes have really lost your damn minds.” Lila muttered, pressing closer to the door. She knew these guys, these guys who were more boys than men most of the time and now they were fucking killers, what world did she fucking wake up in for this shit to happen?
Connor looked at her through the rearview mirror as Murphy glanced around at her, hearing her words. They chose not to say anything, they would talk to her once they got to Rocco's mother's house, where Connor hoped to have a serious and civil conversation. They set off driving again and it didn't take too long to get there. Lila got out, avoiding the boys and following Rocco inside. She glanced around curiously before moving into the kitchen, helping herself to a glass of water because she fucking needed one.
“We need te talk.” She heard Connors serious voice behind her. She scoffed into the glass before slamming it down, turning to face him and his twin who was stood to his right.
“Stating the obvious there.” She sassed, crossing her arms over her chest. Murphy licked his lower lip, glaring at her almost and Connor heaved a sigh.
“Look, ye know we have te do this, ye know why, ye had the dream. We can’t just ignore what Gods asked us te do.” He said exasperatedly, frowning at her.
Lila looked at him with so much pain for a moment it made the boys breathless and she shook her head.
“It might have slipped your attention, but never once did I ask you not to go out there and do this, never once have I told you not to go. All I asked was that you tell me if you’re safe and you couldn't even manage that.” She stated with hurt lacing her words, looking at them both. The boys glanced to each other then, she was right. They hadn't really noticed she hadn't asked them not to do this, she hadn't tried to use their love for her to manipulate them into staying at home with her. She hadn't asked anything of them other than knowing they were okay, and that just made them feel like huge assholes. They knew if the shoe was on the other foot, and they had been worried about her like that and she had been fine all along, there would have been hell to pay. They had let her down, again.
“Look, we’re sorry alright? We should have called ye, we don't have a good reason and we can't turn back time. All we can do is just apologise.” Connor sighed regretfully as he wiped a hand over his face, looking at her imploringly.
“I get it, you didn't think about me. Because whatever this is, this new life of yours, there's no room for me in it.” She said bitterly, turning around to fill her glass up again, she was starting to feel lightheaded, this drama was too much for her.
“Don't say that.” Murphy muttered sadly, if she would have looked at him she would have seen the hurt all over his face.
“There is fuckin’ room for ye Lila, it's right beside us, as it’s always been. I'm not gonna lie te ye and tell ye things are the same, ‘cause they aren't, but yer place is still by our side. That’ll never change.” Connor said firmly, stepping forward and turning her to face them.
She couldn't look them in the eye and she focused on Connors rosary dangling in front of his chest. She knew they were good men, she knew why they were doing what they were doing, she knew it was a good thing, something that needed to be done. It was still a hard pill to swallow that the people tasked with ridding the world of such evil were her boys. She only had two options; walk away and forget about them, or stick around and just get used to their new line of work and pray they'd be okay. There was no way in hell she was going to walk away, so she needed to make peace with this. She couldn't stay angry at them forever.
“Promise me one thing.” She said softly, finally meeting his eyes before looking over his shoulder at Murphy, the darker twin with his sad eyes that made her heart ache.
“Anythin’ m’girl.” Murphy insisted almost desperately, his eyes not leaving hers.
“Don't pull that shit again. I was worried sick about you two and that's not okay. If you can't come home to me, you fucking get a hold of me somehow so I know you're fine.” She demanded firmly.
“We promise.” The boys replied without hesitation. They knew they had made a mistake. They had been selfish and they wouldn't do it again. They had made her think she had no place with them anymore and that shit wasn't acceptable. Her place was always in between them, no matter what, and they needed to show her that.

The Evolving Jane Eyre 2011 Screenplay
Tumblr media
I remember when the novel tie-in edition was released ahead of the Jane Eyre 2011 film, there was a bonus at the end of the ebook edition.  They added the screenplay of the film by Moira Buffini.  I have since tried to find my ebook copy but I think my move to a Kindle has led me to misplace it.  Fortunately there are screenplay databases online, and I found an older screenplay on this site.  Although I remember certain elements in the screenplay from the ebook bonus that is not in the version on the website, so I feel like there is yet another version floating around.
The screenplay on the IMSDb site is the 2nd draft, dated 6 March 2008.  Quite a few years for the screenplay to go through revisions, and yet the heart of the screenplay writer’s vision seems intact.  The screenplay begins with Jane leaving Thornfield and wandering the moors - such a unique approach to adapting the novel.  The 2nd draft has more of the original story than the final product, with many interesting additions and actual scenes from the novel excised.  While the 2011 film is my favorite movie adaptation (not favorite overall though when you factor in miniseries) and I love how well it tells the story in two hours, it does make me sad that they couldn’t have made this movie two and a half hours to really bring more of Jane’s story to life.
The Changes from the 2nd Draft
If you’ve seen this movie trailer, the story seemed darker, more heightened and Gothic than the final product.  (Rochester with all black eyes at the very end???!!)  The trailer even shows a glimpse of Helen Burns in front of Moor House and that thread was entirely cut from the movie. Reading this 2nd draft, it was fascinating to see the vision Moira had for the story and the intriguing ideas she had for bringing out some of the inner life of Jane.  There are quite a few smaller moments that impressed me, so I will just highlight some of them in this post.
Helen Burns: Helen has more traditional scenes in the draft than she wound up with in the final movie, but the new idea that her “ghost” visually stays with Jane and brings her solace in times of trouble is both fresh and true to Helen’s role in Jane’s life.  When Jane is first running away from Thornfield, the viewer “sees” Helen with Jane, and at some points Helen leads Jane and encourages her to keep going.  While I’m glad they cut this for the film, I think it is an interesting visual and honors Helen as Jane’s first true friend.
Visuals of Jane’s Inner World: The 2006 miniseries adaptation with Ruth Wilson was the first to show what Jane was seeing by having the viewer see her in that physical world.  That 2006 miniseries begins with young Jane in a desert, as she is looking at an image of a barren land in a book.  Moira’s draft also includes this idea and early on has Jane in the setting of the pictures she is looking at.  Later, after the interrupted wedding, you see Jane by a river as the water overflows and visually the ‘torrent pours over her.’  This would have been a powerful moment in the film, but perhaps too jarring, so I understand why it was cut.
More Reordering of the Timeline: The film begins with Jane meeting the Rivers, then shows Jane at Lowood, then at Thornfield, before winding up at the beginning again with Jane as a schoolteacher at Morton.  The 2nd draft had even more flashbacks and flash-forwards with the most notable being changing the scene between St. John and Jane in Morton (which in the films shows up after you see Jane leave Thornfield and Rochester) to when Mr. Rochester leaves to see the Ingrams.  That flash-forward to Jane and St. John’s conversation about not looking back and St. John resisting the love he feels for someone he thinks is unsuitable seems appropriate to illustrate Jane’s confused feelings after saving Mr. Rochester from the fire, but it was another great choice to move it so that it is our first jarring moment back into Jane’s current life after the emotion of her leaving Rochester.
Nightmares: The 2006 miniseries might have inspired some of Moira’s approach to this screenplay as another element from the miniseries is shown - Jane’s dreams illustrating her inner turmoil and fears. I really enjoy this foreshadowing in the book, and I loved seeing the dreams dramatized in the 2006 version.  It might have worked well in the 2011 film as well - especially if they just did this to show Jane’s inner world, and not the landscape visuals I talked about above.  In one nightmare, Helen is the one to give Jane the crying babe.  And this particular nightmare is fantastic:
INT. DUSK. THORNFIELD / THE RED ROOM.                                  Jane, aged ten, is walking along the long gallery. She          opens a door and finds herself in the Red Room.                                  She stares into the mirror, searching the pale face of her          reflection, as if trying to find an answer. A murmur seems          to come down the gaping chimney; a woman's deep sigh.          Jane's throat tightens with fear. Something moves in the          shadows behind her.                                  She scans them, her eyes full of terror. Jane knows beyond          all doubt that something is there. She hears a low laugh.          It seems to be right next to her. She tries to scream -
And this occurs just before Jane hears Mason’s cries, which would have been pretty eerie to watch.  I really love this idea.
The Flashback to Thornfield Burning:  In the film, this is not shown, unlike SO MANY adaptations of Jane Eyre which does visualize this.  I love that they honor Jane’s narrative by not showing what she was not there to witness.  But in the 2nd draft, Mrs. Fairfax is telling Jane what she thinks happened, mostly through voiceover, but what was visualized in the draft was entirely different.  Instead of Bertha sneaking away, the viewer would have seen Rochester let her out, and then watch her wander around and eventually start a fire in Thornfield.  It shows Rochester as bleak, hopeless and uncaring.  The scene ends with Rochester readying himself to jump to his death until Bertha beats him to it -
EXT. EVENING. THORNFIELD - THE LEADS.                                  Bertha is watching the rooks. Rochester goes to the edge of          the roof. Bertha looks at him. The invitation is clear.          Rochester is ready to die.                                  Bertha sees the rooks wheeling away. She runs at the edge          of the roof. Rochester sees her intention too late. He puts          out his arm to stop her.                                  For the perfect fraction of a second, Bertha flies.          Rochester sees her fall; almost falls himself - saves          himself.                                  Life reawakens in him. Behind him, he sees Grace Poole,          coughing, crawling up through the door.                                                  GRACE           Antoinetta?                                  Responsibility floods over him. He goes to her side, lifts          Grace, helps her down the stairs.                                   MRS FAIRFAX (V.O.)           He didn't leave the house until           everyone was out. Some say it was a           just judgement on him for having           her confined there all those years           but for my part, I pity him.
Wow.  If this had been filmed, I don’t know what I would have thought.  On the one hand, it’s very powerful.  On the other it’s very different from what is in the novel, and shows Rochester carelessly endangering other people, and I don’t see that as true to his character.  But this is definitely a unique take on that scene.
Screenplay Highlights
There are a few scenes in the screenplay that particularly touched me or I found highlighted a great moment.  I love this quiet moment while Jane is just settling into her life at Thornfield (Adele’s song is the one she sings to Jane to show her accomplishments.)  The fact that Mrs. Fairfax gives a gift to Jane and knows that Jane would feel overwhelmed by it so hands it to her and leaves, feels true to Mrs. Fairfax’s gentle understanding.
INT. NIGHT. THORNFIELD - MRS FAIRFAX'S PARLOUR.                                  Adele's song continues as a voiceover. Mrs Fairfax is          finishing a shawl. Jane is showing Adele pictures of little          objects that she has sketched. Adele names them in English.                                  The song ends. Jane gives Adele a sketch of herself.                                                  ADELE           Me! It is me!                                  Mrs Fairfax shakes out the finished shawl and puts it round          Jane's shoulders, departing before Jane can protest.                                                  MRS FAIRFAX           Here. For you.                                                   Jane is delighted at the kindness of the gift.
Then there is this scene, where Jane is teaching Adele, and Mrs. Fairfax comes in to take Jane’s portfolio.  There’s discomfort in Jane as her work is being exhibited without her permission.  And a nod to the careless way men disregard women’s thoughts and opinions, even from Mr. Rochester, who is the character who is most interested in Jane’s mind.
INT. DAY. THORNFIELD - THE NURSERY.                                  Jane is by the blackboard, where she is writing sums.                                                  ADELE           Tonight I will have my cadeaux.           He always bring me a cadeaux.                                  Mrs Fairfax breathlessly enters.                                                  MRS FAIRFAX           Sorry to disturb. He's asked for           your art.                                  Jane looks at her in disbelief.                                                  JANE           What for?                                                                MRS FAIRFAX           He wishes to have it.                                                  JANE           Why?                                                  MRS FAIRFAX           To show to his company, I should           think. Is this it here? Thank you.                                  Jane watches helplessly as Mrs Fairfax takes her portfolio.
When Jane visits Mrs. Reed on her sick bed, there is a unique moment added to the script.  Jane’s sees a picture of her Mother, and reconciles her childhood fears of the Red Room.  The Caird/Gordon musical has a nod to Jane’s parents in the show (prior to the Broadway iteration) and even features them briefly in the beginning.  Obviously, this is a poignant way to show the growth of the little orphan girl, and I would have loved to see this dramatized.
INT. DAY. GATESHEAD - THE RED ROOM.                                  The morning sun is pouring in. Jane goes to the bed. She          puts her hand upon it, gently, as if thanking her uncle for          all he did. She notices a picture on the wall. A miniature          of a brown-haired woman with elfin eyes.                                  Jane takes it off the wall. Bessie comes in.                                                  JANE           My mother.                                  Bessie nods. A tear rolls down Jane's face. She clasps the          picture, looking round the room.                                                  JANE (CONT'D)           Why ever was I so afraid?
As is true of most of the roles in this version of the screenplay, St. John had more lines and in this section, we see more of his compassionate, persuasive side which would have really added to his character in the film.  He is harsh and cold, but this small scene would have made the viewer understand more why Jane admired and loved him like a brother.  I feel like the writing in this scene captures what Bronte wrote very well too.
JANE           You're a good man, but you forget           the feelings of little people. We'd           better keep out of your way lest           you trample us.                                     St John's anger has faded. He is compassionate. This is far          harder to resist.                                                  ST JOHN           I wouldn't trample you. You'd           walk at my side towards God's           altar. He'd be your solace,           heaven your reward. We seek to do           the greatest work, to open           death's gates, to save souls.           Love God Jane, love God.                                  St John puts his hand on her forehead; Christlike. Jane is          falling under his power.                                   ST JOHN (CONT'D)           Give up your heart to Him. He is           love.
Final Impressions
After I finished the second draft, I have to say I admire Moira and the director and anyone involved in editing and refining the script.  Even as a purist, I am impressed at how well this second draft encapsulates the novel.  And then to have to further trim down and edit - what a difficult job!  And the final product is marvelously streamlined and an intimate portrait of Jane.  The sensational is pared back and the emotions are appropriately restrained.  In the editing process, there seemed to have been an instinct to keep the story to Jane’s perspective and to create something a little more realistic.  And I think they succeeded.
