queen of comfort, she lets you do whatever you need to do. like caine i do think she would give you a handkerchief, likely one that she has made herself. hehehe cute patterns ueue.... back on track, i think she would also get mad on your behalf if someone had upset you, or something totally unfair had happened. the shared anger can either make things worse or make you feel like youre not alone; i think this would depend on a case by case basis, you know? takes you off to the side away from prying eyes so no one can see your tears... speaks in very hushed words trying to calm you down even if shes getting angry for you... as level headed as i tend to write ragatha, i think she would be a fairly empathetic person

probably the one who pushed you that far in the first place, though i think this is more likely in the beginning since hes still gauging what your limits are... you know since his whole thing is being an annoyance... so hes a little surprised when you finally blow up. it gets. really awkward. because usually people just cry or get mad, never really both. kind of just stands there before trying to defuse the situation, but hes so not used to actually having to be responsible that he kind of sucks at first. overtime, though, i think he gets better... though to be fair he knows your limits and kind of lets up on you, even more so if you guys actually romantically get together... generally very lost and tense because "oh.. wow i actually kind of feel just a little bad"

KINGER:

oh no...! are you hurt? did someone hurt you? did you hurt yourself? whats wrong? whats happening? hes immediately swarming to you as soon as your eyes start watering, and thats assuming hes not already rushing to your side as soon as he sees you just slightly getting upset... this man worries about you enough as is, but it ramps up when youre unhappy. oh course, he takes you to the pillowfort, and even lets you scream in a pillow while he watches in bewilderment and tries to decipher what happened. probably asks you straight up what happened and if youre okay, even if the second question is a little dumb and obvious, but hey... .this man is all over the place right now... lets you stay in his pillowfort as long as you need. obligatory soothing back pats only dads can muster

doesnt outwardly react much the first few seconds, at most you probably see their eyes widen. but if theres someone actively making you upset, or even unintentionally making you upset actually... i think zooble would step in and put a stop to the nonsense. very. harshly. like snappy, you know? does a little scoff before walking away with you, they seem like a scoffer

doesnt do much in terms of comfort outside of leading you to their room where you guys just chill and listen to music. theyre not oblivious enough to ask the obvious, but they do probably ask in their own way later on if youre feeling any better once some time has passed... not much comment on the tears

honestly she probably starts crying a little too, be it from shock or from being empathetic to your feelings.... maybe both... hmm... i would say she tries to stand up for you but i just know that it would fail miserably and would likely end in her being down in the dumps... unless she actually truly loses her shit and goes off on someone, akin to the "the devil shivers when a nice guys loses his temper" but instead of a redditor its some sensitive ribbon person losing their marbles. buuuuuuuuut as much as i love the visual of gangle absolutely going off on someone (cough cough jax) i just dont know if shes actually capable of it, at least not as she currently is judging by the pilot... probably tries to tug you away from the scene... lets you make vent art in her room, even leaves so you have some privacy to do so and/or lends you some of her art supplies

* Gray purposefully take the route to and from his house that passes the river even though it takes longer, just on the off chance Erza might be there

* She holds so much guilt for sending him into avatar, but everytime she tries to apologize for it the words get stuck and she cant

* Grays probably the only person Erza has ever offered a slice of her cake to, if only bc she knows he doesnt like cake and made it her personally mission to find one he does

* They are so stubborn

* Gray: You’re one of my best friends, I would do anything for you. 
Erza: I want you to eat 3 meals a day and have a decent sleep schedule.

* Their friendship is the type where they can sit in silence for hours and be completely comfortable just knowing the other is there

* Erza loves her guild, but if Gray died, if he left fairy tail, she would genuinely consider leaving as well

kageyama didnt mean for this to happen. he decided to take a different route to school. he didnt know a shortcut or two would result to him, well, falling in love. it sounds corny, and best believe thats how kageyama feels. behind the corner shop, he caught glances of you. oh, you. lighting away at a cigarette, you inhale, hand on your hip, staring mistfully at the sky. your bike is tossed to the side.

kageyama thinks you’re absolutely aborable. you shouldn’t be, with the cigarette in your hand. your skirts’ rolled up dangerously high, especially for winter. leg warmers cluth up to your ankles as you grib onto your puffer jacket to comfort yourself from the icy cold. your eyes scan the area suspiciously, then meet his. your eyes stay onto his and kageyama can’t pull his away. you’re eyes, your face, seemingly everything about you is intoxicating for him and he cant pull away.

kageyama looks away, a cute blush settling on his cheeks. you exhale, the smoke concealing your face. “oi. guy over there.” you call out, one finger motioning him over. kageyama looks around, bewildered. is she talking to me?

“m-me?” kageyama stumbles and you nod.

hinata rolls his eyes, staring at kageyama with a cunning smile playing on his lips. “what are you thinking about kageyama? hmm!” he says teasingly and kageyama blushes at the thought of you. the mysterious girl he has a crush on. wait.. crush? no no no. thats too far. he doesn’t even know your name! how is he already crushing on you? who knows if you two will ever meet again?

“you did it again kageyama. stop looking out like some actor it’s annoying.” hinata huffs. kageyama shrugs, taking a chug of water. he needs to clear his mind off you, finish off practise with a clear mind. oh boy was he wrong.

daichi’s voice echos throughout the hall. “ah yachi i was wondering when you’d come.. oh whos this?” yachi brings many of her friends to practise, being manager of course gets a bit boring without a friend to talk to while the boys play. it’s not out of the usual. but which friend she bought caught kageyama’s attention.

“ah sorry! yachi said i could come!” your sweet, melodious voice oozes of honey to kageyama, his eyes shooting to where your voice was coming from. you seem so cute in your uniform, contrasting heavily to the image he saw this morning. your eyes stray to everyone, finally setting on karasuno’s setter. kageyama swears he sees a hint of shock in your face, but it easily subsided to a knowing smile. he coughs, looking away quickly. he’s obviously red. “that’s all good! have fun.” daichi reassures the girls, walking away to sugawara.

“you know her?” kageyamas yet again reminded of hinata’s presence. “um not really. bumped into her this morning.” hinata hums, and then suddenly his face lights up. oh no. “yachi!” he calls out, motioning the girls to come over. big oh no. hinata must of seen the alarm in kageyama’s eyes as he assures his friend, “girls dont bite!” laughing to himself.

I’m curious of other’s opinions on this: out of all the suitors, who is the most believable and least believable for “Belle” to actually fall in love with? Basically, how realistic would it actually be for her to fall in love with one of them?

I based my rankings based off a mix of Belle’s personality and the actual story and how it plays out - i tried to be as least biased as i possibly could lol

My ranking would be:

1. Leon: i picked Leon as most believable because of how quickly she warmed up to him and how compatible their communication styles are. They’re honestly almost too perfect that it makes me wanna gag (sorry Leon lovers lol)

2. Keith: He comes in 2nd similarly to Leon, the nice Keith and Belle get along so well and it seems like she has a soft spot for him from the get-go. It’s believable to me also because of how his story was written and i could definitely see MC ending up with him.

3. Rio: The boy next door has to be believable. Poor Rio lol. I put him 3rd because she has to get past seeing him as a friend which is a small obstacle, but it is totally believable because theyre already super close and it would make sense.

4. Chevalier: the “true” route. I love their story, and given their personalities, i think it was very well written for both of them to compliment each other. They have just enough in common to keep the stability, but also love languages to help learned and keep the spark alive.

5. Gilbert: the “bad boy”. He is believable to me because the slow progression makes sense, and you can see how both of them compliment each other and pique their interest of the other as well. It seems like a natural progression, and it’s one that we can see coming.

6. Clavis: the class clown. One of my favorite routes 🥰. I think the dynamic between Belle and Clavis are so quirky, that it works. It makes sense once she learns more about Clavis that she would fall for him.

7. Licht: Sweet emo baby. My first love. I put him lower on the list because he’s harder to actually get to know, so the likelihood of her truly being interested in him at first is likely low, but once she finds out he’s a sweet baby - she will be smitten and will fall.

8. Sariel: Daddy issues. I actually really like his route and i genuinely believe this could happen, the only reason hes lower on the list is because i think it would be less likely that Belle would sacrifice her “professionalism” but i do still think it’s a believable story!

9. Silvio: Loveable asshole. Okay, listen - i’m sorry Silvio stans… i ranked Silvio lower because it would take a lot longer for her to warm up to him… especially the way he talks to her - and quite frankly, with all the other options around, why would she fall for him when theres so many other princes?? BUT… i do think his route is very believable for what it is and i did enjoy it personally

10. Nokto: emo playboy. Let’s be real, she would be so turned off by his bullshit, i find it hard to believe she would even think twice about wanting to get to know him. When she does, i don’t think she would want to be more than friends.

11. Luke: Baby bear. I cant picture them together because of how young he seems honestly 😣

12. Jin: Titty idiot. His route felt so wrong and weird to me… it felt forced and awkward. This just doesn’t feel like a good match and it doesn’t seem like a natural progression to me. He doesn’t have much of a personality, and they both just don’t seem to fit

13. Yves: Baby girl. I cant take him seriously as a lover when even the game suggested that Belle questioned he may be queer. (Nothing wrong with this at all, just doesnt fit the narrative they are selling). I LOVE YVES and everyone needs one in their life, but he’s not believable as a lover… and we all know why 🙃

the game begins introducing itself as a regular otome school life sim (my condolences to the fans who fell for william first sight only to find out hes not an actual love interest trust me i see u i feel u) but then WHAM BAM!! just when u thougut ur girl best friend was lookin kinda cute she gets X_x in this summon circle and you jump in to save her only to find out youre now in a royal cage surrounded by people that needa sacrifice you to save themselves from their own doom. oh and youre not in your own world anumore good luck have fun

so now here goes the different plots and paths with the love interests. the way i playrd it was as they introduced it, which was ayn aklaid lars claerence. no cael route yet which rips me apart every night. the love interests seem to have consistent values throughout most universes despite all of their diferet upbringings which i find pretty cool considering schoollife and royaltylife are two completely drastic diferent things, and also i nejoy how mc is written with more character and an amazing design to match the rest of the beautifully drawn cast

on that topic the art is GORGEOUS. i have never seen such beautiful detailed art in a game before and i assure you it will not disappoijnt. the graphics and smoothness of the game are especially a great touch. YES!! I still have full faith in Ozzy too and here's why...

If anything Marshall said had any ounce of truth to it Ozzy wouldve been moving super shifty the entire time, which he hasn't. ESPECIALLY if you're on his route and have been grafting him nonstop like I have been. Marshall said he moves from one girl to the next when he gets bored, but we already know thats not true. Even when we go to kiss him, he tells us he doesnt want to disrespect Grace - even though this man hasn't even been doing bits with her. Headcanons:

Almost everybody comments on how is it possible to have one of the most vicious goalkeeper in existence be so polite in interviews. He's so loved by people across Japan and has a really strong fanbase. And it's bcs he looks so focused and vicious in the field that most ppl cant recognized him outside of it (like how Shinsuke didnt).

Much like Kazemaru, Fubuki, Gouenji, and Kabeyama, he's also one of the few from the cast who stayed in Japan soccer leagues. All of the teams he belonged in lost the least goals in the leagues they've joined!! He's a monster goalkeeper in their eyes! (Another reason why Shinsuke didnt recognize him is bcs he doesnt believe someone as legendary as tachimukai would casually teach a goalkeeper-beginner like him.)

I genuinely think he's good at studying and has good grades in IT-related subjects and is above average in most sciences, he just chose to not go to college. He did go to a vocational school as a backup plan. In case he gets severly injured or sumthn since goalkeepers are known to retire for injuries more than the field players.

More than anything, he wants to teach goalkeeping so he has that as a consideration for his future also. He's still thinking abt in what way can he accomplish this but that time with Shinsuke did make him realize that it's something he wants to do. But maybe not right now, he thinks he needs more experience!

He gets tons of modeling offers that he keeps on declining bcs it's never been his interest. He once jokingly told Tsunami that maybe he should try it after his retirement, he didnt realize Tsunami took it seriously and he's very excited for this modeling career (Tsunami is in fact considering modeling too bcs of that joke)

He makes a lot of effort to stay connected with old friends and likes traveling a lot even if it takes time! He likes taking the scenic route too and just takes life slowly.

Some of the things he does when the league season is over are riding sleeper trains and hotel-buses!! (It's so cool that japan has those!!) Sometimes with friends or family, but he also likes going alone and making conversations with people (who most often does not recognize him at all).

He's timid as an adult still but he overcomes this by telling himself that being with people is part of the great experience of life however corny that sounds. It's one of the things he learned from being with the cast who gave him the courage to step out of his comfort zone.

Speaking of his traveling! His inagram is full of traveling pictures!! And all the food he gets to eat! He also travels outside the country and taste as many spicy food as he can. He's famous in inagram actually even if he barely has any pictures with his face in them but he's really cool with it.

He is also demiromantic ace in my heart <3

He casually enjoys surfing too (in the drama cd, he asked if tsunami can teach him how to surf to which i think he enjoyed) and competitively with tsunami (bcs tsunami makes everything a contest)

He goes trekking, mountain climbing, and skydiving with his old pals from Yokato a lot.

He goes to camping trips with the first year gang too (kabeyama, kurimatsu, kogure, haruna and they also invite shourin, shishido!!). Kogure plans these trips.

I have some more that's in my hissatsu techniques hc of him regarding how he is in the field but that's yet to be posted (bcs descriptions are so hard 😣). These are the ones that I can remember outside of that for now!

you know one thing i find extremely telling about the whole 'melvin can't say ily' thing is that neither do any of the other couples - but that doesnt really matter to them. like take lumax for example - they've never said they love each other, or said it to anyone else, and they've also broken up 6 (??) times over the course of the show. but anyone who watched season 4 came away knowing they do love each other. another example of this is jancy; i don't think they've ever explicitly said they love each other either, but they don't have to. because with both of these couples, you can visibly see it because they show it in their actions, in the way they look at each other, and the way they're constantly motivated by each other.

and so, for massachusetts institute of technology to not only not have all the above implications (they're separated every season, never have those romantic looks, their actions are almost always motivated by something else) but also have their most significant relationship plotline be that mike cant say he loves her, and that (despite them being the only couple who got an explicit love confession w mikes monologue) el also believes he doesn't love her, is very telling. because with lumax and jancy and jopper, you don't have this debate; it is taken as objective fact that (at one point or another) they love each other, because its obvious, and they dont have to spell it out to get people to realize. but moonlight on the river? whether you ship byler or not, there's still none of that objectivity. you literally don't know how they feel for each other, even though we know that if the duffers wanted to make it clear, they could and would've. and i just think it's very interesting the route they decided to take with it instead, especially in comparison with all the other romantic couples on the show rn.

Remember how Hori made us think Hakagure was the traitor and he left it as a cliffhanger only for it to be revealed that Aoyama is the real traitor? What if he makes us initially believed All for One is Izukus dad only for something else to happen?

Honestly anon, you cant really compare this two situations with each other and I will explain why. First of, hori never hinted in any kind of way that hagakure is the traitor. She NEVER acted suspicious or weird around others. She always was a cheer- and joyful young teenage girl around everyone else. Never did or said something that could be considered sus. The ONLY reason why a lot of people suspected her to be the traitor is because of her QUIRK. She is invicible, that was the only reason why people thought she is the traitor. Compare that to aoyama: from his VERY FIRST introducion in the manga something about him seemed strange. Me and a few other people like @psychomurderz startet to believe that he is the traitor LONG before the reveal happend, because at one point the hints hori gave us were just to obvious. In fact a lot of people who were certain its hagakure said: "aoyama is just to obvious. There needs to be a twist, otherwise its just bad writing or boring." And what was the result? Exactly the most obvious choice was the right one.

If a chicken looks like a chicken, makes sounds like a chicken and walks like a chicken, you can be sure IT IS in fact a chicken and not a dog!

Hori planted the hints that aoyama is the real traitor already at THE VERY BEGINNING of his story, people just claimed there needs to be a twist for a twists sake. The moment hori making it look like as if hagakure is the traitor was not so much a cliffhanger but nothing more then a red herring. It would be foolish of us to think that hori isnt aware about what his readers think or what theorys they make up. He was simply teasing hagakure as the traitor without the story showing any hints or evidences for that, because he knew most people would eat it up and revealed the real traitor right in the next chapter. Personally (and I hope that doesnt sound arrogant) I KNEW it was a bluff! Maybe its because I have already read a lot of storys and was part of many fandoms and at one point you just get when an author is serious about something and when not. I knew hagakure was a red herring, I knew severus snape was in love with lily potter since reading book 3, I knew in yashahime it was adult rin inside the tree and not kagome and so many people called me delusional and crazy. Guess who had the last laugh in all these examples 😏😉

So you see, dfo has pretty much nothing to do with hagakures fake reveal, because there are tons of hints and evidences for dfo while there was NOTHING that backed up hagakure as the traitor, except that people found her quirk fitting for a villain (poor girl) and that aoyama was to obvious. Like I already said, sometimes the most obvious choice and easiest route is the right one. Really good authors dont do twists for the sake of it, they plant the seeds throu out the whole story for readers to pick them up. Subtle enough for readers to question it, but still with enough evidence for it not comming out of the blue and people realizing that something is going on with that specific character or that specific situation.

So dfo has way more in common with the aoyama traitor reveal (and interesting enough people claimed with both theorys its to obvious to be true), because hori planted the seeds for both theorys from the very beginning. Aoyama was portraied as sus from his very first appearance in the manga and chapter 1 gave us already the first dfo hint, with introducing us to izukus quirk doctor, who a little bit later is revealed as afos minion and most trusted follower. Hori wove a connection between izuku and afo by connecting them with the same doctor.

Also garaki doesnt take everyone as his patient. He is the best quirk doctor of whole japan and only takes patients with a lot of influence and money like the todorokis. Inko and izuku dont fit that image AT ALL, except if hisashi is someone way more then just a normal business man with a normal income. An other hint we already got very early is hisashis name. The meaning of hisashis name no matter with which kanjis you write it, all fit all for one so perfectly like a fist on the eye. Hori will NOT make his readers initially believe afo is izukus father with putting (espicially if we remember how many people still deny it or say its way to obvious) so much hints in the story since chapter 1 just to make a twist for a twists sake. He is a better author then that! And now in the latest chapter even hawks realizes that something weird is going on with afo and it has nothing to do with rewind. Hawks realizes that afo doesnt trust afomura around izuku and afos silence about that matter speaks volumes. He is not worried about being rewinded to nothing, he is not worried about afomura, he doesnt even trust him. Afo is in a hurry and worried, because of izuku. Because remember izuku was never supposed to be part of that battle.

honestly i get that the yoohankim ship isnt the most popular orv ship but their dynamic is soooo desperate and tsundere and feral, its so fantastic and heartwrenching and beautiful. these three will kill for each other, die for each other, live for each other, for better or for worse, kdj and hsy don’t believe they’re anything special to anyone ever and yjh has a wet cat mentality combined with a savior complex, they are the most complicated creatures to ever interact i mean

right off the bat we learn that yjh has the ability to reset the timeline to a specific point and has done so hundreds of times, tossing away every friendship and lover and ally he's ever gained in order to keep himself from dying and maybe do it RIGHT this time, whatever that means, however many allies he can save this time. and he's turned all his choices into strategic maneuvers and tried to cut out his own empathy and worked with people he despised in an effort to find the survival route BUT THEN. BUT THEN KDJ SURPRISES HIM.

KDJ SURPRISES HIM AND HE THOUGHT HE COULD NO LONGER BE SURPRISED BUT THIS GUY HE'S NEVER EVEN MET IN ANY OF HIS HUNDREDS OF RESETS BUSTS OUT AND CHANGES EVERYTHING. because he has NEVER seen kdj in any of the other timelines and kdj KNOWS this because he's read the novelized version of every single one of yjh's attempts to reach a happy ending, and kdj is TERRIFIED by this because that means kdj has died in every other timeline before the story has even gotten the chance to really start and kdj really wants to know how this story ends dammit!!, and as yjh gets to know kdj he ALSO becomes terrified of this bc he genuinely likes kdj and he starts to get so desperate and hopeful and feral about kdj because he JUST. KEEPS. SURVIVING. and yjh DOESNT GET IT because people DONT JUST SURVIVE LIKE THAT HERE and he starts WANTING him to live and starts NEEDING HIM to live because for the first time in HUNDREDS OF YEARS and HUNDREDS OF TIMELINES something is DIFFERENT and he starts feeling the need to not just survive but actually LIVE bc he CANT reset anymore because

because he cant be sure that if he resets kdj will still BE THERE. and he NEEDS kdj to be there now, even if they aren't fighting together physically side by side he starts to trust that kdj will be on his side and help him out and help everyone ELSE out and he won't lose the people he used to care about, who he still cares about, who he started to think he COULDNT care about because they never remembered him the way he remembered them.

kdj's very existence means yjh can't take the easy emotionless way out of difficult situations whenever anything small goes wrong and he has to start living moment by moment like every other human being again. kdj makes him HUMAN again and kdj doesnt get it at first bc to him yjh is still just a character, just a fiction he's read about and obsessed over and insulted and loved, and kdj starts to see the world as a story instead of real life in the exact opposite of yjh's path to seeing the world as a life again and kdj thinks about living as ‘seeing the story through to the end’ instead of ‘surving because i dont want to die’ and in a glacier's pace kdj has to start confronting that this is real and active and now and yjh is real and a human and maybe he DOESNT know everything about him and maybe he CAN have an honest relationship with him and maybe yjh CAN surprise him and change and change the narrative and be more than the man he was written as originally

and hsy plays an integral role in these realizations bc she helps bridge kdj's real life actions pre-plot with his 'fake' story role while ALSO playing into the 'this is a story' aspect of their reality bc she ALSO read some of the novelized version of yjh's life and she ALSO tends to see people as characters and their current life as a story they need to strategize through in order to survive

but she's not as deep into that mindset as kdj and feels guilty about her actions even when she tries not to and starts getting invested in kdj as both a person and a savior even though she hates him she also respects him and thinks he's annoying and a good strategist and that he has extremely bad taste and she used to cyberbully him bc she didn’t understand his devotion and she believes he's the best chance to reach a happy ending alive and that he couldn’t possibly care about her survival as long as yjh is still alive

bc she's very aware that she won't make it long in the novel by herself let alone work WITH yjh and help him and save him and learn to appreciate yjh as a person instead of as a character she didn't like in a story she hated which has now become her LIFE which she hates and loves and wants to survive in no matter the cost even though she feels guilty every time kdj asks her to help him do something that will hurt kdj/their allies because she KNOWS he only asks her to do things he believes are strategically sound, is hurt bc she knows he only asks her bc he thinks she’s coldhearted and ruthless enough, bc he thinks she doesn’t care about him, bc she thinks kdj is right to think all these things and she trusts him even as she feels like she's burning her own bridges down trying to follow his instructions, trying to keep yjh alive, trying to keep HERSELF alive, even as she makes decisions that she knows are despicable, even as she hates that she’s doing these things and hates that she feels guilty over trying to keep herself alive. she simultaneously thinks of herself as the baddest bitch she knows while also the worst human in existence and she can't understand why kdj and yjh keep her around but at the same time like hell would she ever leave them permanently while they're still offering her their time and their affections, however strong those may be.

even when she purposefully acts against kdj he just sits her down and talks to her bc he can see how much its messed her up, how even when she thought she knew what she was doing she couldn’t predict the results and couldnt predict how badly it’d mess her up and he gets it and she just hates it, she hates how distanced kdj can act despite how much she knows he cares and how much they all care about him

yjh and hsy bond over how stupid kdj is and how they cannot maintain their lives without him and while a part of hsy is constantly terrified that yjh will kill her for being annoying or suspicious or for following a dumbass plan she also learns to trust that yjh will wait and see how things fall through and trust that she was only doing what she thought was best/what KDJ thought was best, that yjh is a lot less likely to kill people he’d written off in previous timelines now that he’s met them, learns to know that yjh recognizes there’s something about her that is similar to kdj and that kdj likes and even if he can’t understand it and it sometimes makes him angry or jealous he still respects it and respects her

And yeah yjh is described as one of the prettiest most handsome people anyone has ever seen, both by kdj in the narrative as well as verbally by other characters, and yeah people say kdj is ugly but that’s only relative to the other extremely beautiful people he’s surrounded by. And yeah a few call hsy ugly but that’s only when a character is actually upset about something she’s done and is taking it out in insults. kdj himself calls her beautiful and thinks she’s one of the smartest most annoying people in his life. she almost gets him killed and he just thinks she’s a genius. yjh doesnt seem to care much at all about physical appearances and just becomes obsessed with how these two people he’s never seen survive so long keep pushing and living and help him and keep their group alive, the man’s got competency kink like no tomorrow and never realized it until now and he doesnt know what to do or how to live if they aren’t living too. They are all supremely flawed people who started at each other’s throats and misunderstand each other consistently and repeatedly but work past it anyway with a kind of reckless devotion one can only have after seeing people at their worst and realizing you love them anyway, and if that isnt endgame post-apocalypse polyam goals i just don’t know what to tell you

i read your wip and i cant help but feel.... pity, for penclosa. for choosing to do this, choosing the most harmful, horrible path. of course. of course he is. of course Jonathan is like catnip to her- but that doesnt mean she has to do This Bullshit in another, kinder world, perhaps she decided to be less of an Absolute Bastard about things and found love and caring and respect in some other heart, and genuinely Just Did Therapy On Jonathan. at least her persona, the face she puts on, seems to be a genuinely Cool Lady. it is a shame she has chosen this most awful cruelest path because she has the power to. i pity her because i feel like she could make a Different Choice where this story has a far happier course and ending for everyone- but, of course, she didn't. and now mina is going to fucking Get Her. as she should

You hit a lot of nails on their heads, Anon.

The tragedy of 'You Didn't Have to Do This, You Could Have Been Our Friend,' hits much more truthfully and so much more sourly when it's with this cast of characters versus Miss Penclosa's original story. In, "The Parasite," we can see the foundation of her plans for Austin Gilroy almost from the outset. Even if she wasn't thinking of enslaving him from day one, she still made her move after only a week of interaction with the man, pouncing on the very first occasion when she got to mesmerize him while the two were alone.

One week. Just one week with Gilroy, in which I imagine he was only ever anything but professional with her--especially as his thoughts on her are made hideously clear even before she started tightening the mental collar. (Ick, she's over 40. Ick, she's 'deformed' for having a bad leg. Nothing like his sweet young Agatha. Never mind that he's in his thirties. But moving on.) Gilroy gave her only the barest amount of regard in that period.

But the opportunity was there. Her want was there. Her loneliness. Her power.

Why not, Helen? You have your hooks in now. You have him. Why not? You can make it real. You can make him love you. And what does a pretty young bauble of a girl like Agatha need him for anyway? She'll get another, girls like her always can. Go on, Helen. He's yours for the taking. He will love you in time, with enough prompting...

I stand by some personal theories about why she goes the route she does. Potential bleak origins come into it that I'll try to flesh out in the story, but the most important factor is what her goal is in the present. Because really, opting for coerced affection rather than literally anything else she might wring out of a victim is telling. Hypnotism is notorious in fiction for being used to carry out thefts and sundry violent dirty work and, as with Dracula and the Brides' victims, a paralytic allowance to have themselves be preyed on. But the uniquely intimate (and so uniquely dread-inducing) decision to try and puppeteer someone into being your personal paramour is special in the worst way.

Love is the highest priority in Miss Penclosa's hierarchy of needs. She wants to have a partner (puppet) who will adore her and tell her so and be as smitten with her as she (thinks she) is with him. And, as seen in "The Parasite," she also likes it when that trapped puppet-lover verbally agrees with her that his actual fiancée is dull and worthy of insult. She wants to be the only one for her beloved and wants him to disparage all others. Interesting results to come on that front with Mr. Harker. Anyway.

Now we come back to the problem of the Harkers. In the case of Austin Gilroy, her original unhappy 'beau,' we had a protagonist who wasn't exactly a prince. Loyal and loving to his Agatha, true, and suitably horrified at being forced to follow Penclosa's orders (and she does order something quite nasty as a parting shot)...but he's also a bit nasty on his own. He insults people who believe in clairvoyance or the supernatural, he's snide about Penclosa's looks in the extreme, and is generally not that great a guy to anyone but his fiancée and close friends.

But Jonathan Harker? Sweetheart supreme? Him walking into the picture is like Penclosa being starved and just now seeing she'd been scrabbling after stale crumbs this whole time when a five-tier wedding cake existed for the taking all along.

The catch is that the Harkers are far, far, far more endearing than Gilroy ever was. One of their best friends is an old professor whose guest they are at the party. They owe a debt of more than gratitude to at least two older women, Sister Agatha and the unnamed lady who gifted Jonathan her own crucifix as protection. Both of them have suffered ailments beyond mortal ken, and only escaped them by the charity and heroism of others. These are the least judgmental young people in all of England. Though both were understandably skittish about her kind of mesmerism, they were still open to her, still prepared to be outright friends.

You could have been their friend, Helen. You could have. This one weakness, this one obsession, is the only thing between you and a companionship that is natural, organic, untainted by the conditions of being a circus performer for your friend's husband and his precious study. Real friends, Helen. All of them would be.

He would be.

...But that isn't enough.

Of course it isn't. Jonathan Harker is the romantic daydream come true. He is not the man a woman settles for--he's the beloved prince every girl dreams of when she's still young enough to believe romance exists outside of books and stage plays. He's real, Helen. He's right there for the taking. And who can stop you but you?

Helen Penclosa wants what she wants. And if the means are there, if the prize she had thought all this time was only a fantasy is sitting in front of her, if this is her one chance--well. Why would she settle for mere friendship? Why feign happiness with a freely given slice when she can run off with the whole cake?

It is a tragedy in the making. Because Miss Penclosa is a woman of depth, a woman of character, a woman who is canny and witty and wise, a woman who could so easily have been a friend for life if she had just given her help and done no more. But she is also a woman whose vices are sequestered in the greedy pit of her heart. And that pit's needs come first.

So I have a question. One that links back to the scene in Season 4 during the conversation between Nancy and Steve in the Upside down during the last episode and why I'm not really a fan of how the aftermath of it is handled in some fics I've read, but this is solely based off my own opinion.

For the sake of fanon over canon (canon doesn't exist. I dont know her) Let's say theres a scenario where all of the party are together, Eddie and Max are recovering and they're all at Steve's or something like that. But if we're gonna go down more of a canon route in S5 with Nancy, Jonathan and Steve, I honestly dont think either of them will end up together. (Mainly because I have a bad feeling at least two of these three arent gonna make it out alive) but back to fanon, let's say Jonathan and Nancy have broken up but they're still learning how to be around eachother as friends just like Steve and Nancy are doing. Again, I feel like this would've been a way better way to go for their character development if Stancy were spending their time together just learning how to be around eachother again. It would've made for a much better dynamic in season 5 between the three.

Anyhow, I'm getting sidetracked. Goes without saying that Steve is easily my favourite stranger things character. However I've always had some mixed feelings when it came to Nancy, noticing on more than one occasion that while she is genuinely a good person and a complete badass who knows how to get shit done, she seems to have some problems feeling empathy for others, especially if the situation doesnt apply to her, though you could argue that Mike has the same issue when it comes to El and Will, in which he tries to understand but when he knows he cant he instead becomes frustrated and more often than not takes it out on them. Nancy definitely has this issue with Steve in season 2. During the first part of season 2 and to an extent season 1, Steve tries to offer her a distraction to her problems with guilt rather than a solution. And to an extent I believe that was how Nancy came to view Steve during season 2. A distraction instead of a solution, eventually realising this distraction was no longer helping her and taking out her frustrations on the distraction before finding a solution by going with Jonathan to find Murray for answers and realising that Jonathan was the one she wanted.

However during season 3 they seem to have a hard time understanding eachother and on top of that the two barely interact with Steve at all. Yet in season 4 Steve and Nancy are left to reconnect while Jonathan is in California, not to mention the underlying subplot that her and Jonathan are realising that much like her and Steve, they each have very different ambitions.

Nancy is very career driven and wants to make a difference in the world. Jonathan just wants to take care of his family and stay close to them following everything that has happened and is unsure if what he really wants is to spend his life following Nancy rather than being by her side. Steve on the other hand has developed a somewhat paternal bond with the party following what is implied to have been a very fundamentally lonely life. It's for this reason that it makes sense he would he happy with a simple quiet life, travelling the world with a family of his own. I'm not sure if the Duffers did this on purpose to mislead us or whether they've just forgotten what each of these characters have been through in each season but when you put all that in perspective, none of these ambitions align in the slightest. If anyone thought that the whole winnebago talk would actually become a reality in season 5, maybe in an epilogue or something like that, then people seem to not realise that Nancy wanted anything but to end up like her parents and displays little interest in anything other than protecting those she has and focusing on her career. A simple life would not be satisfying for her.

Long story short, trying to put Stancy back together romantically would not work for either characters arc, at least in my opinion. If they were able to form a strong platonic friendship by the end of season 5 then that would be the most satisfying outcome to me.

On a slightly different note I started this with a question. I see it alot in fics where people tease Steve for expressing what he wants out of life, i.e, the whole six little nuggets conversation. Honestly I found that while scene really sweet and the characters in fics rarely bring this up as a way to be mean. But I've seen in some that Nancy actually brings up what Steve told her in the upside down as a way to tease him in front of their friends. Again, it's hardly ever written with any malicious intent other than to embarrass him but even so I really dont see that being something she would ever tell anyone, even their closest friends. While I stated previously that Nancy struggles with empathy, I fully believe that she sees that moment herself as Steve being truly genuine and heartfelt with her. Point being that as much as the idea may not appeal to her, she can see would not use something like that as an excuse to bring up in conversation as a way to tease him or embarrass him by stating out loud for everyone to hear that he once dreamed they would start a family. I dont believe that Steve would repeat it to anybody else either, even Robin. That is something personal to the two of them whether Steve really knows what he wants or not and it's clear that there are alot of unspoken things regarding the past between them that I can see bringing up some tension in season 5.

Though I can't deny that I've had some angsty ideas following these thoughts. Imagine another scene like the bullshit scene in s2, only its after she finds out that Jonathan lied to her about college and maybe she gets drunk again, possibly for the first time since season 2 and when Steve tries to comfort her (maybe he found her first or she seeks him out, idk) but she reflects back on how it felt reconnecting with him in 4 and the conversation they had and drunkenly makes a move on him and is left even more confused when he rejects her and throws back in his face everything he said to her. Maybe Robin or Eddie or Jonathan overhear and jump in to seperate them before it turns into a fight. Steve feels guilty while Nancy is just even more confused about her feelings for Steve and Jonathan. Maybe it ends with them finally talking things through, Steve confesses he has feelings for someone else (I wonder who) and with a clearer head they realise it makes more sense for them to just learn to get to know eachother as friends again.

Giornos mom just abandons him after moving to italy and donatella finds him. Despite already struggling to raise one child on her own like hell is she just gonna leave this child, so giorno get adopted by her.

Girono and trish are raised side by side, trish knows about giornos stand but cant see GE and while giorno can see him he doesnt know what stands are and they believe Gold to be some kind of spirit. When thier mother gets sick Gio tries to heal her with his stand but outside of being able to alleviate her pain she is still dying.

When she dies trish and giorno are both devastated and then suddenly these strange men come to take trish away. Oh hell no. Gio insists that they have to take both of them. The gang knows Trish is the bosses daughter and they have no clue who gio is so they refuse to take him.

When they try to take trish by force. Gio reveals his stand and fights them almost killing bruno. So the relent and they take gio with them. So now trish has the body guard team plus an extremely protective brother.

(Gios personality is a bit different than canon Since he was mostly raised by donna who always loved and supported him he is a bit more social and in the beginning since he doesnt like or trust brunos team he is very aggressive towards them. (He eventually get close to them, surprisingly nara was the first to get his favor)He wanted to kill the boss since he tried to kill his sister. It true he doesnt like drug trade but he hadnt really considering the mafia route)

There’s also the whole aspect of Giorno being protective because by all means….. these people just fucking kidnapped him and his sister. He has no idea who they are, just that Trish’s dad is apparently a mafia boss and wants to meet her. Gio however thinks this is sus as fuck and no way in hell is he letting her get dragged off to meet this random guy by herself, so you bet he’s going to join Bucciarati and Trish on the island

HMMMM maybe? I mean like I pretty much like all kotone ships since I'm biased and I like her althoughhh honestly some ships I just see more on platonic side but I salute anyone that ships her with a rare pair (provided its just not something entirely weird or borderline illegal lol)

Anyway, here's pretty much my ranking and thoughts for each ships lol:

1) Shinjiham - First of all, god Atlus doesnt FUCK AROUND with his SL route and it's so out of their fucking mind for Atlus to not let the girlies write for the romances in other persona ever again cuz WHAT THE FUCK???? They really fucking cook with his and Ryoji's SL its fucking sweet yet so tragic I just cant fucking take it anymoreeee 😭😭😭 and it fucking hurts me that even when you ended up not dating him, you can clearly see just how in love he is with Kotone like fuck man it hurtss

I am just such a sucker for the broody bf x cheery gf trope but they had me in my tits when they laced it with angst it had me bawling by the end of it. I really appreciate how in femc's route we finally get to see his true character like god before P3R we really only know him as that mean looking guy with a tragic broody past and he tries to make things right before its too late but we dont also see him trying to be better other than tiny mentions of it so when he is gone we dont feel bad other but P3P hooo boyyy shits fucked me up I miss him I miss my wife and even when I get to save him, even when he finally gains the reason to survive and have meaning to live, when the person that gives him that reasoning is gone, it fucking hits me like a truck man and that truck decides to reverse and run me over again. Absolutely spectacular shipping 11/10 dont fucking do that ever again Atlus I have inherited hypertension from my dad

2) Akiham - This is actually my initial otp before I blasted and fried my brain with foolmoon content. I was actually surprised to see this side of Aki where instead of him looking like he gets thing under control and cool all the time, he is just so clueless socially and every rank of him had me go "Holy shit he's autistic he's just like me frrrrr" like I didnt expect him to have awful social cues like me hskskssksk I also love how really cute the entire rank is like this boy is 18 and never dated anyone yet he is so sweet and thoughtful I almost forgot he probably learned this from the seventeen magazine in his room lmfaoo I love them they're the most tamed yet cute pair but also bittersweet and sad thinking that he lost everyone that he loves even after he proclaimed he will protect her ugh im in painnn

3) Theoham - I love how silly the entire route is! Its fun and relaxed and oh god what is up with everyone with white hair has autism in this game??? His lines are fucking bonkers it had me in tears and I cant even believe this man also manage to make me feel things about exposing one's hand after seeing it gloved for so long. Again Atlus please let the girlies cook again for the new persona i am begging you

4) Hamugis - idk if it was Atlus intention or not to make her pan but god I love this so much! Her entire route is her adjusting to being human and gaining human emotion gradually and I just really think its so beautiful when she said she doesnt even care if Kotone's a girl or a man she will still love her (Im sure she really meant it to be platonic and she pretty much mixed romantic and platonic but also that confession at the roof doesnt help at all I genuinely think she's in love with femc) and towards the end when she cried I can hear how human she is briefly like oh god I cant believe Atlus invented yuri

5) Yukaham - they're besties and she mentioned she wants a bf before okay whatever BUT I just refuse to believe she's into men honestly and she probably just wants a bf because thats what she believes girls should be (like obsessing over boys and such) and shes a girly girl so she should like boys, right?

Im not forcing anyone my HC at all so just ignore this if you want. Im writing this because the worm in my brain tells me to do it and i am also projecting myself here but like I just like the idea of Yukari feels conflicted about her sexuality because she's a girly girl and her liking girls doesnt fit the status as a girly girl but when she meets Kotone and she is feminine and likes girls stuff too but also a tomboy and doesnt really care much about the identity of being a girly girl and finds herself enamored towards her, she admits to her one day that she's having conflicted feelings about her and the other girls she finds oddly attracted to and Kotone's probably like "You should try to kiss me and see if you feel anything about it" and AKXHEIQPAUSQPAJQL oh god the thought of Yukari not knowing she's a lesbian and struggling to accept her identity as a lesbian is just so AAAAAAA i need more Yukaham content maybe I should draw them together

6) Mitsuham - I totally understand people's vision with Mitsuham. Actually at this point, you guys can see how Kotone brings impact to everyone in the team and towards the end of the game, everyone either finds a meaning to live or finally able to open up to each other but anyway shhh lets ignore the overall grim lore of this game and just focus on Mitsuru as a person instead. I really love the idea that Kotone introduce a lot of new things to Mitsuru since despite how rich and influential she can be, due to the responsibility and burden she has to hold at a very young age, she didnt get to experience what life is as a normal teenage girl so I just love the thought of Kotone teaches her what it feels to be a normal teenage girl like and gives her a glimpse of what it feels if she wasn't a Kirijo in the first place. Again, just a HC but like I think it would be so fun of Kotone and Mitsuru just sneaks out at night after she convinces her to forget her responsibility for a moment and loiters around town until it's the dark hour and Mitsu just freaks out because she was too distracted by having fun and being distracted by her duty and she was like I cant afford being normal, not in this world and not when she bears the name of Kirijo and oh god did I accidentally turn this into angst???? ANYWAYS yes I understand Mitsuham

7) Ryoham - Okay I have to admit, as much as bittersweet and tragic their whole relationship is (like the fuck as going on in Atlus' HQ when they wrote "Please touch me. Make sure I exist." Like ????) I'm just not into Ryoji much because of a personal reason but also like I love it when people draw them in an alternate universe where they meet again like I really believe in another life, they really do would fall for each other again ;w;

8) Juntone - Honestly I just see them as platonic but I saw this one Juntone shipper on twt before and I cant stop thinking of them whenever I have to think of this pair. Like okay shh imagine if Kotone isnt dead in the end but both of them still lost Chidori and Shinji, I know they both understands the pain but like if lets say they find confort in each other and down the line they do fall in love, I just think its really beautiful. Maybe not immediately but when years later theyre reunited and open up about their grief and still having a hard time to move on, I know they would clung on to each other just to feel absolutely alright because nobody can understand the circumstances they fall into.

Anyway, that's pretty much my ranking. I really do love and understand why people would love her with other pairing like I am all game but the ones I am pretty much very obsessed with is Shinjiham and Akiham while the others are more of an afterthought to me.
