Kiri is done
Context: Spider has an Avatar that he leaves with the Sullys over night.
It was morning. They had just woken up. And Kiri was already done with her numb nutt brother.
"You know he won't wake sooner from this", she said with a barely contained eye roll.
"Jupp", Lo'ak answered without looking up.
He just kept poking his finger at Spider's face. Lo'ak still had sleep written all over his features but even in this state he found the energy to be a pain in the ass.
"Then why do you keep doing it?", Kiri asked, growing more and more annoyed by the second.
She didn't have breakfast yet and her brother was physically assaulting her best friend. She had the right to be cranky.
Lo'ak looked up at her, saying nothing. Just staring with sleepy eyes, cocking his head mockingly and continuously poking Spider's cheek, waiting for her reaction.
Lo'ak was getting on her nerves and he knew it.
"Okay, just stop it", she hissed, swatting his hand away.
For a moment her brother just sat there, staring at her with a bored expression. But Kiri knew the challenge was on.
She watched his hands intently, ready to block them, should they reach out again.
The sleep was slowly fading from Lo'ak's face now, his ears flicking slightly and a grin tugging at his lips.
So, now they sat there, each on one side of Spider's dislinked Avatar, watching one another cautiously.
Lo'ak moved a finger, causing her to flinch and hiss in frustration as she realized he was just provoking her.
"Could you not?", their father's voice appeared from where he was sitting at the fire place. "We didn't even have breakfast yet."
"Tell that to Lo'ak", Kiri said, fighting the hiss inside her voice.
"Not doing anything", Lo'ak defended himself, his voice still thick with sleep around the edges.
"You're never not doing anything", their dad retorted in his grumpy morning voice. "You two just keep it down until I leave for today's strategic meeting."
Kiri could hear a low hiss coming out of his direction and when she looked up, she found her mum glaring at her dad.
The man's eyebrows lifted at that, his ears slightly flattening against his skull.
"Also, don't get on your mother's nerves", he quickly added.
...
Kiri only listened with one ear, too distracted by her little brother constantly peeking back over his shoulder to catch a look at 'sleeping' Spider. Lo'ak tried to be subtle but he pretty much turned to look after every bite of food.
And Spider still didn't believe her when she told him that Lo'ak was totally smitten with him. Even though it couldn't be more obvious.
Kiri had been watching them blush and giggle around each other, for ages now.
She was done. She really was more than done.
This unresolved tention between the two boys was killing her, because she was a constant victim of it.
They were a trio. They've always been. So, Kiri got hit with all the bad flirting, all the weird pauses and all the hilarious oblivion of those two numb nutts.
So, she had been more than relieved when Spider had asked for her help. Because it meant that at least one of them was finally doing something about this ridiculous crush.
It had been fun to watch in the beginning but Kiri really didn't know how much more of this she could take, before simply smashing their faces into one anothers.
That was actually her plan B, if Spider's 'idea' wouldn't work out. And she wouldn't hesitate should it come this far.
...
"My face feels kinda itchy", Spider said behind her. "Did somebody pinch my nose?"
"I tried to protect you", Kiri said without even turning her back. "Lo'ak just couldn't keep his sticky hands off you."
"Not sticky", Lo'ak hissed. "And it's what you get for not showing up on time."
"Sorry", Spider said, his voice playful.
Kiri knew that tone. Closing her eyes, she braced herself for the second hand embarrassment.
"Didn't know that my presence was this essential to you."
Akward silnece. They hadn't even made it through breakfast this time.
Kiri made a chocking sound, causing Tuk and Neteyam to laugh. Their dad forcing down a grin and their mum looking almost as done as Kiri felt.
She sensed movement next to her as Lo'ak returned to his place at the fire place, glaring her down.
"You're the worst", he muttered under his breath.
"Coming from you, I take it as a compliment", Kiri retorted, unimpressed.
Lo'ak hissed at her, Kiri hissing back.
"Behave!"
They both stopped, looking their mother's way.
"Sorry", Lo'ak muttered, looking down at his feet.
Kiri suppressed a snicker when she noticed her brother was pouting.
Spider sat down next to Kiri, grabing some more food. He was smiling at her, seemingly pleased with himself.
Kiri just gave another roll of her eyes, taking another bite.
"Hey Spider", their dad said in his grumpy monring voice.
"Hm?"
"How about, next time you take your human body on a walk here, you bring some coffee."
Spider snickered around his food. "Of course, Sir."
...
Some parts of my Lo'ak/Spider fic. I have more but it's not anywhere near done yet.
Most important points: Neteyam has the time of his life watching Kiri suffer of second hand embarrassment. She (not so silently) hates him for it. But they're teaming up to get the love struck idiots together. Neytiri has one of her rare bad mornings and Jake is terrified. Lo'ak and Spider have heart eyes for one another but are both too oblivious to notice. Tuk is being the annoying, careless child she deserves to be. And Jake craves coffee. Really, all the man wants is coffee.
(I could put the fic description here, but I fear the idea could get stolen. There's more to it, I promise. I think it could be like a two shot.)
Oh! And the Sullys never left their home. Quarritch? Who is Quarritch?
... What do ya think? You up for more?
Hope you have an awesome day!✨✨✨
