Thank you so much for your wonderful messages of support and for your takes. I really appreciate it! I say it all the time but it saying it again feels appropriate: we had no idea we would ever see so many people who share our point of view despite not shipping Ortho with Idia or any other character. The fact that we can have this conversation really makes me happy.

You are welcome to share more of your thoughts if you want, but unfortunately I might not be able to reply to everyone. I will do my best though.

Different anon, I think Ortho is in this nebulous situation like superboy in young justice who is physically 16 years old but chronologically 16 weeks old. I genuinely hate the uwu babying of characters. The dwarfs are all second years(so theoretically 17 at the youngest) but no one makes anything with them. But since he is still learning and doesn’t always understand people + doesn’t always get things like sarcasm, people consider it to be a proof that he is a toddler lol Who am I kidding, their reasoning doesn’t even go that far. They say “he died when he was a baby therefore he is a baby forever” and call it a day.

I feel bad for people who love Grim, I haven’t even thought about it… The Puppycat comparison is so spot-on lol

Grim is inexperienced and doesn’t know much about the world, but yes, he is one of the freshmen + just as he at times acts like a whiny brat, there are also times when he tells Ace that he should be more considerate of Deuce’s feelings, like wtf was that? That was Grim. Because Grim also isn’t a baby, he is a furry gremlin…

Indeed, Anon. I feel like people either completely ignore Ortho or see him as Idia’s appendix. I absolutely love them together, and of course I am biased towards scenarios that focus on their deep codependence, but I also really love how they get to have their own adventures, their own relationship, their own experiences separate from each other. Because they are wow, different characters, and Ortho has his own agency. He had it even before ch6, but after that he fully and officially became his own person. Being with Idia is his choice, not his only option. And just like you mentioned, he makes his own gears pretty much all the time now… even though I don’t agree that Idia making his gears has anything to do with Ortho’s agency.

I don’t even think Ortho is that optimistic. He is a little sunshine, but not even close to people like Kalim for example. Ortho even has his own cynical moments and douchy moments that people also tend to ignore. But even if he was 100% optimistic and naïve, it still would not be a valid reason to infantilise him. And you are absolutely right, people do that a lot. With Kalim too, actually, now that I think about it.

Like why do YOU want him to be younger?? I'm getting too old for this.

I don’t hate younger fans, and I know that some people might be genuinely confused; but I also believe that there are a lot of people that simply do not care about Ortho’s actual story and any arguments one could make about this case. The actual issue isn’t Ortho being a certain age, it’s a pretext, an excuse, an invitation to harass. If Ortho didn’t exist, they would still do it with other characters, and even if all the characters were adults, they would still find a reason to do so, like, for example, their appearance. There is no winning in this game, this is why factual arguments won’t work even if Ortho Shroud himself looks in the camera and says “hi, I don’t care if people ship me with my niisan, I am also in fact not 8 years old”.

I am also very glad you mentioned Ortho being his own person! I mentioned it in a previous reply, so I won’t talk about it, but yes, you are absolutely right. Ortho is a menace, and all of his disappointed “come ooon, niisan, don’t do that” moments come from his desire for Idia to have more friends, not because he genuinely cares for other people. He clearly doesn’t – hence his multiple attempts to blow up the school lol

I love it when characters just keep getting younger with every single wave of this shitstorm. Didn’t you know he is 13? How dare you post something like that about a 9 years old! He is a toddler who is only 3 months old! That’s one powerful fountain of youth right there. Antis in Kuroshitsuji fandom do that a lot, just as antis in TWST fandom.

Also yes, it was absolutely the creators’ intention. He is supposed to look like that, just like Lilia is supposed to look like that – both caused confusion in the game story with how young they look, and yet both are a big part of the cast (+ As we know, even Idia was supposed to be younger looking…). Ortho has one of the biggest amounts of cards, he is clearly a popular character, not just a lovely addition or a mascot.

The babyfication of Ortho is something I do not understand. As much as Idia made RoBro in trauma, rn I doubt he wants RoBro to remain stagnant in mind and hardware. With Ortho's ability to learn, he is practically a teenager like the rest. He displays more emotional maturity than most ppl despite his killer laser beam. Kindness, hope, and optimism are traits not limited to children. Shortness is also not limited to children. If we treat other characters by traits often shared by children, then Neige's fellow dwarf classmates are also children. What they don't count bc they are not human? Ortho is not human either. Similarly, Kalim and Silver display positive internal traits of kindness, hope, and optimism. Shortness? Well, we got Grandpa Lilia and the Napoleon complex twins Riddle and Epel. They are all teenagers (minus Lilia) and no one is babying them.

...And are we ignoring all the shit he has seen on the internet. The amount of porn (from adult sites and even the soft-core types you can even find by watching some twitch/yt streamers) that can be seen. Videos of violence, crimes, and ppl doing their best to win the Darwainism Award. Ortho could access and go through like 5 terebytes by the time I reach page two of Google.

As for the Shroudcest, they are fictional characters! You can go straight to phub and have incest type (the sheer amount of the step family porn troupe) porn being acted out by actual breathing people. Do you want to metaphorically die on this hill of ppl shipping fictional 2D characters? Are we just going to ignore you targeting this harmless ship? At least go for a larger target like Game of Thrones or House of Dragons. So much incest in those media that it has it's own fan wiki page, but you don't see ppl go for George R. R. Martin's throat for writing about characters willing or unknowingly committing incest.

It is like people reading/watching media of horror movie killers. It's something you can enjoy or have a preference for because you, as a sane person, will not become a serial killer. AND, as a productive member of society, you condemn actual, real-life serial killers. You read horror stories or watch scary movies for entertainment value not for a guide to be one. Similar logic to furries. Furries consider anthropomorphic creatures as hot, but those same furries are against beastilaity.

TL;DR: While I am not personally a fan of incest or shota type of media, I do not mind they exist (or go after creators who use FICTIONALLY characters to enhance their form of FICTIONAL media), bc they are FICTIONAL CHARACTERS from a FICTIONAL MEDIA. Stop with the performative activism. Use that effort and go after people who do it for real in real life. If you prevent/stop an actual crime from happening, I will applaud and thank you! The entire part about all those traits not being exclusive to children + about other characters having those traits but still not being babied – YES, thank you so much for that. Like I already mentioned, the game clearly plays with those tropes, and even though the characters are young-looking, they are still of high school age (other than Lilia). Ortho is weird, Ortho is different from some of the other boys, but all of them are weird in their own way, Ortho is just a robot. If we can make “not a human” excuse for the dwarves, why can’t we look at Ortho that way? And yes, Ortho absolutely knows stuff a kid wouldn’t be able to digest lol All of his difficulties come from him being an AI – he doesn’t always get sarcasm, he doesn’t fully understand why people do certain things and doesn’t understand some limitations of human’s body and mind; none of it is tied to him being childish or too innocent.

Incest in media is very popular indeed, and it’s SUPER popular in porn! You are right. If any kind of media ends up “normalising” this kind of relationship, it definitely won’t be shippers of incest. But also that won’t happen because wow, it doesn’t work that way. People love to say that fiction affects reality, and while in a way it does, it’s never a “everyone is going to start shooting people because the videogames brainwashed them” type of deal, and this is exactly what they’re doing with their arguments. It’s fear-mongering, moralism and ignoring the fact that people do in fact know how to separate fiction from reality. And the key to making sure no one is going to jump out the window because their favourite character did so isn’t in censorship, but in people learning this difference and always keeping in it mind. Ironically, that would mean that people who harass others over cartoons can’t make this separation very well because of their lack of critical consumption of media; but then again, they can’t even see (and don’t care, which makes it worse and my point stronger) how their own reckless actions seriously affect real people in real life, and I think this is a more important issue to resolve lol

Unfortunately, people who prefer performative activism very rarely end up becoming real activists, but I do hope that they will at least find some other hobby, something that doesn’t cause so much harm to both innocent people and the cause they claim to be fighting for.

I got a bit carried away there, but yeah, I totally agree with your point, and once again grateful for your understanding. There will always be media that makes you uncomfortable – and that’s the beauty of it. Creativity is a boundless ocean and no amount of bricks can contain it.

How to set up the FUN party in the sims? 🎉

Questions to ask yourself

What is the event?

Who's invited?

Is there a theme?

Where is the party located?

What's the age of the sims?

Who is this party for?

Do I have to do any CC shopping for this event?

Do I need to download a mod for this party?

Gameplay Tips:

Take advantage of the seasons calendar to set up the event. Example: party spirit tradition, sims will do autonomous interactions that show they're feeling festive. Example: Give Gifts tradition, sims will give you gifts If you want sims not to work during the event, you can click for them to not go to work that day too

Set up VFX, if that's what your party needs [RVSN mod]

Create a menu for your sims, and prepare the food a day in advance

Consider sim's lifestyles. Is a sim a vegetarian, or lactose-intolerant? Are there any kids to give them pizza? Is there a junk food lifestyle sim you want to give them something greasy?

Buffet Table [use bb.moveobjects] to get more slots available

Set up Cannons in correct placement aligned with where you want your sims to celebrate

Have a recovered copy your save, if you don't want to go through the mess of cleaning/removing build mode objects. Not only that, but sometimes, you may need to film again. If you save before the party starts, you can keep replaying the party until you get the party you want (hope this makes sense)

The baby shower event from growing together, sims give the host gifts autonomously and sims celebrate properly when the cannon is fired

Set up cannons from growing together expansion pack, in a correct placement that is aligned with where you want your sims to celebrate accordingly

MWS wedding events are perfect for events you need sims to follow your instructions such as "dance" "gather around"

Steady seat is perfect for seating arrangements

Have a photoshoot area ready, if the party needs it, so you can pose your sims. I recommend custom pose shopping in advance, but after the fact isn't bad either; just don't delete the copy of your save until you've completed that.

Place gameplay objects you need for the party around the lot. Example: If it's a birthday party and there's space, have the pirate ship "rented". You know how parents add bouncy castles and stuff for events? Think of it like that.

When it comes to arranging the table, have your sim add the placemat from parenthood around the table. Sometimes, your sim may not be able to add the placement, you can go into build mode and move the placement to the one your sim couldn't and go back into live mode and have your sim do it all over again until every spot has a placemat. If you have better-build-buy mod, you can copy the debug object yourself and place it around.

When it comes to decorating and you are having issues with slots, I recommend OMSP. It is explained in my video at 28:18♥

If you're having a dinner party, have your sim "pick up serving" for drinks and food, your sim will place the food in their inventory and you can place it yourself around the table. Perfect example to see this is Joy of Life Legacy challenge when my sim had a Winterfest dinner party (33:26)*

Don't forget to add kiss of freshness lot modifier on your lot, so food doesn't expire

Place the food over the placemat, and have their drink to their right side.

Zero's drinking mod works like placemat where your sims can place drinks around the table. There's age appropriate drinks too like juices and sodas for child/teen sims.

The Sims 4 gallery contains rooms where there's food for your sims and if you didn't have time to cook. Miss_frogstar has a bunch of rooms for your sims that contain food. It's really detailed for you.

Have a serving table, if your party is meant to have a lot of guests and food. It takes the load off you, when you don't have to worry about table slots for larger events.

Create sims you can hire for events. Think of these sims like Nurse Joy from Pokémon. You can have this sim be a townie in all your saves. Cheat their skills and hire them for events/set their outfits.

Lock them doors LMAO! Sims love to misbehave and go everywhere, so it's easier to have them be in certain areas by locking the door of the rooms you don't want them to be in.

I also recommend saving the party decorated home in your gallery, so you can just place it again in the future and remix it to how you want it

Sometimes you got to combine different events to create the atmosphere you want in your game, so don't be too hard on yourself, if you feel like it's not going how you want. We all know parties in the sims isn't perfect at all

Cousins aren't the only thing we brought to college with us, as someone also brought over this FUCKING COLD that's been ravaging the neighborhood this entire generation.

I've been tracing this thing and I'm pretty sure it originated in Claire's household where fucking Wilfred came home from work sick and he passed it to Spice, then Spice came over to visit his bum dad Sugar, passed it to the main house, then Sunset came over from school with Barth, got it from the main house and passed it to the June/Julian/Blue Meatballs/Stacy household who then passed it to Daniel's household. So basically the only unaffected house is Gunther and Melody! That's why never seeing your kids is the right call.

We spend our first night skilling as everyone this generation is a complete moron with no skill points. I had both Barth and Felina choose the psychology major as I feel they will need those skills (for vastly different reasons) given their LTW's and Barth wastes no time putting his new charisma skill point to good use!

How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?

Sims style, meaning CAS style, the Sims themselves? I'm not really sure what to say 🤣🤣🤣 My style has always been a mixture of retro and modern, and largely based on the Sims' personalities themselves. If they're premades, I have always based their outfits/makeovers on their original look, just enhance it and put my twist on them, still considering their personalities. I also look for real-life inspiration online. I guess what I can say has really changed is that I became more adventurous with using colors and patterns on their outfits, and doing more mix-and-matching. In terms of portrait presentation, it has changed, from a minimalist wall to a more appropriate, lively, colorful background.

Wow. The fight I had with EA on my gaming machine was not a fun one. Suddenly it just crapped out and made it look like Steam didn't know where my bioware games were. Anyhow. Probably solved after uninstalling, reinstalling, and updating the EA hell.

So, let's see. Finished differentiating between my Surana and Amell, got both of them full mapped out in DA Keep (and partly mapped out in the mega spreadsheet), generated end-game saves for both of them using the gibbed.savegenerator on PC. Got DA2 running my PC, created the appropriate Hawkes (mage Mari in lawful-scheming Neria Surana's world; warrior Vespertine in dumpsterfire chaos agent Keres Amell's world). Saved. Turned on the Steam Deck. Was able to access both of them and play a few minutes in on each. Whoo-HOO!

My two Hawkes are ready for yet another of many runs through that game.

Fwiw, not sure if I will ever fully replay Neria's game in DAO+DLCs because she's a competitionist character and that is a lot time. I do want to (re)play and finish Keres one of these days.

As for warrior Vespertine Hawke -- she's someone who has existed only on the sidelines while in fanfic that required a world state with Bethany alive. I have headcanon for her but have never gotten around to actually playing her game past the first couple of hours of game time. Haven't decided if I want to pre-map out her path through the quests or, alternative, just let things happen (knowing some of the rough guidelines already via existing headcanon).

SO. Given that I know the world that Neria+Mari live in (the History of Lies world), my Dragon Age Keep is all set for the Merrillquisition. May as well start there for DAI.

Meanwhile, DA2 is pretty quick to play so when I'm done with Vespertine's play through, I can make any final tweaks on my Keres+Vespertine canon in DA Keep and my epic spreadsheet before potentially replaying and completionist-finishing my Trevelyan mage (whom I initially played many years back, but left a lot of things unfinished). I really like my Trevelyan a lot and had meant to write fanfic for her but ... life. lol. Yeah.

So... all that is left is getting mods (re)installed on PC and installed (probably with a minor fight) on Steamdeck and all is good to go.

And other to do: Revive my DA sideblogs and make character pages, canon summaries, etc., because ... escapism. I need it. For reasons.

Things have certainly happened, and normally I woulda commented on yesterday being "Fallout Day", or more specifically, the date on which the Great War happened, though it isn't exactly 2077 yet. But a whole buncha family health drama happened I don't want to get into, so that dulled the week for me. And then you've got what's happening overseas as I alluded to with the last post, as well as a certain criminal who still roams free..

Ugh. I just wanna play videogames and talk about stupid nerdy stuff that only affects those into that! We live in an age of technology and social progress, yet there continues to exist those who'd drag us back into the darkness, bereft of freedom and innovation. A somehow even more fucked up dystopia where the machines steal creative jobs and the humans do the manual labor, instead of the reverse..

And on that note, stop calling it "AI" generated. It's automated theft! These are just algorithims that are assembling pieces of things they copied from others. They aren't creating it out of anything they didn't steal. Nobody taught these things how to paint, or proper techniques on artistry. And while everybody is inspired by something, if you just start lifting others' work, without permission or payment, that is unacceptable.. so why make excuses for this being ok?

I'm not saying the technology is completely without merit (unlike, say, NFTs, which are utterly pointless and fortunately, continue to fail). A good "AI" art tool could be used by an actual creator to, say, correct seams in textures on a 3D model, or to add more randomness to a repeating surface in a game. But in those cases, it's not really intelligent, is it? It's simply another thing you click in [art program of your choice], that isn't scouring the Internet to rob others of their career or even their OCs.

As for voice-based "AI", which, again, I hate the use of that term since it.. isn't.. more like a VI, really.. there's a small number of uses that aren't wrong. Remember how Stephen Russell recorded a few hundred names for Fallout 4, so that Codsworth could address the player properly? Then had to be called back to the studio for even more, and it still barely scratched the surface of common names, let alone silly ones? That's an application I can see vocal algorithims doing their work in, without impacting the career of actors; it could dynamically construct names based on player input, and respond appropriately.

This is where a computer could actually do it better, because the idea that you're going to get a human to speak tens of thousands of names, all in the correct cadence and presentation, and also store all that.. is absurd. Or using this knowledge to improve text-to-speech programs for the disabled. But when you're having the machine do their actual line readings for them in movies or games, or you're making yet another stupid Youtube video / mod that's having them say absurd or even offensive things.. yeah, no. Stop. Just stop.

Narniapocalypse: Round One, Spring, DeBateau (part two)

I just ran through about a day so I could test whether various mods were functioning. Turns out Sell from Inventory wasn't working (I suspect the problem is that I also had the Born Salesperson version in), so I made the DeBateau household a farm stand. The Institution sign STILL wasn't working, and I discovered after I quit out that I NEVER ACTUALLY INSTALLED the extra files for it, I literally just downloaded them. Finally, it became increasingly clear that Mod Ur Dig wasn't working, and I was POSITIVE I had installed it... but I never did, apparently. This is what happens when you have multiple different game setups and try to install the shiny new mods in multiple game folders at once. I seem to have installed it in a couple of old-timey gameplay folders but forgot to put it in my medieval game. Okay. That has now been corrected, and I did what I could for all the other issues.

Meanwhile, I had Justin travel to The Woods to see if he could sell the map he dug up to anybody, and when he couldn't, I let him meet some other SimCity refugee teens an go fishing for a bit. He's not attracted to Miranda Capp, but likes Jules O'Mackey!

This day was the inevitable slide into misery for everybody, as the toddlers got increasingly fussy with lower and lower hygiene, and the moment Tara used the toilet bucket and gave herself a spongebath and then went to try digging a little in the rain... she got struck by lightning. Eventually, I caved and bought a cheap washtub for the lot, just so the toddlers could be bathed. Of course, the kids who were still doing fine on hygiene immediately beelined for it. I may keep it in somebody's inventory until it is needed.

I think I'm going to allow all households to keep the $500 I gave them as emergency funds to start with, rather than setting them to $0 as would be story-appropriate, because I'm just not skilled enough and/or didn't plan in advance well enough to cope with $0 starting funds. I AM going to have the elf king demand his 40% tribute out of their entire remaining funds at the end of each round, and switch to 40% income for future rounds. If Sell from Inventory works, I may shut the farm stand back down and only allow that.

I also did a little more age correcting--the mod works, but I wanted to adjust the teens' ages since 1 Day = 1 Year has teens from age 13-22 (technically 23), and I didn't want any of the teens to be starting over age 18. The mod wanted Justin to be 20, but I made him start at age 14. He's 16 now on day/year 2. Currently, Tara is 15, Sofia is 11, Sally is 9, and Marcus and Etsu are both 4. The toddlers will be aging up in 2 more days, and so will Sofia. It does go fast with this mod, doesn't it? Luckily, I made a backup of the hood before I really got started, so if the whole thing goes way too fast, maybe I'll start over with Gestation-Base Aging installed instead!

I'm going to make another attempt at playing tomorrow, and hopefully it'll all work smoothly and I can just play.

Hey Alexis. I have to say your Darlington legacy is amazing and Zelda is the cutest and I love her story, and omg don't get me started on Antoine. I want to start the decades challenge myself, I’ve tried and failed before, but reading your story is making me want to do it. BUT, how? I’m not asking for a long detailed explanation, but more like your top 5 ways or something, you used to start it? Mods, cas-blogs, etc? And only if you got the time and of course want to share it with us/me?<3

Hello, there! Thank you so much for the kind words! And I’m incredibly glad to help. The Decades Challenge is a bit of a beast compared to other sims gameplay. It takes a little more research, effort, and organization to make it really enjoyable. So if I can push a few people deeper into historical sims life I’m happy to do so 😉

A key point before we get in resources below the cut (because prepare for paragraphs babes), how do you want to play the decades challenge? Do you want to stick to the original challenge? Do a version with more realistic aging? Just play casually for the gameplay? Have a meticulous storyline planned out (ahem 👀)?

In case it isn’t super clear, I’m not playing the decades challenge anymore. I have used it as a jumping off point for storytelling. Truly, I play the game very little. Usually I try to recreate the story posts in gameplay for myself but I do not try to achieve any of the challenge goals or gameplay rules (although I do have my own rules).

For this reason, I am not the best resource on gameplay mods. There are some mods that I’m dimly aware of that make the challenge more fun, like those by @janesimsten and this mod which I used a lot in the 1900s.

That being said, there is a lot of freedom in the the historical simblr community to craft the experience that you want. You can always try one idea and change it as you go. When I started the Darlingtons it was meant to be about 50/50 gameplay/storytelling with randomized death rolls and challenge goals. Then, I realized what I enjoyed and leaned further into that. I think this is the key to sticking with the challenge, because otherwise it’ll just feel like checking off boxes and you’ll give up sometime around 1900.

So without further ado, let’s get on down below the cut:

First and foremost, and I cannot stress this enough, start a mod organization system from day one. Playing historically requires a good deal of CC and if you don’t organize at the beginning, it gets very very difficult to sort stuff out later. This can easily make historical simming overwhelming and frankly, unenjoyable. I personally would start with a clean mods folder. Keep this separate from your regular (modern) mods as well. I have three mods folders, one for regular (modern) gameplay, one for building vanilla, and one for the Darlingtons.

For the Darlingtons, I have everything organized by mods, CAS, and then BB. Within these folders I organize by decade. That way when I enter a new decade it is easier to pull things in or out. I also have a folder on my desktop for subsequent decades CC, so if I ever find anything that isn’t easy to save on my Pinterest (more on that later), I download it then and there, and put it into the appropriate folder. Then when I hit a new decade I already have a bit of a CC collection going.

Now for finding CC, I am really not the best resource on BB stuff. I just don’t download a lot of it, and what I do is usually super specific or things that I see others using regularly. There are a couple of pieces of mainstay BB CC that I use consistently, and I’ll be glad to point you in the direction of those if you see something you’re interested in. However I don’t really have a central resource on BB they way that I do for CAS. So without further ado (because CAS is really why we’re here for historical simming, isn’t it?)….

Lookbooks, lookbooks, lookbooks. Seriously. Pixelnrd’s lookbooks we’re one of my first references, and I find them so helpful that they’re the reason I started to make my own. Just looking at a couple lookbooks can be much quicker and easier than scrolling through pages and pages of CC. But if you’re willing to go a little deeper down the rabbit hole, @twentiethcenturysims has truly made the resource to end all recourses. Their CC is categorized by decade for easy scrolling, and they also have a lookbook tag if you prefer to get your CC that way.

Now, and this is a personal one, I have used Pinterest SO much for this legacy I cannot even stress it enough. I have two boards: one for poses and one for CC. The poses one is a whole different beast, so if you ever want an answer for poses and storytelling please send one. But I’ll refrain from diving down that rabbit hole right now too.

My Pinterest CC board is organized like my mods folder, by decades. I also have a board for BB, general mod finds, hair, and (this one helps me a lot) CC that I have already downloaded so when I do lookbooks or get a WCIF, the link is already there for me.

These boards serve two purposes. Whenever I find a piece of CC that I like, I do not have to download it immediately. I save it to the appropriate decades board and it’s there, waiting for me, whenever I reach that era. This makes the hunt way easier, and also makes me SUPER excited to get to the next decade because I already have CC that I can see the characters in.

Secondly, Pinterest is an amazing resource in and of itself. Once it “learns” what you’re looking for, Pinterest will pull CC from all over the internet, including stuff that I’ve never seen in people’s lookbooks or the resources listed above. Then it’s an easy click to save this link for myself for later.

So scrolling through Pinterest then turns into a sort of inspiration board as well. This is a broader point regarding the tendency of people to quit the decades challenge: find what inspires you to do it and what makes you excited for the next decades.

For me, part of this is the storyline and seeing my characters reach the next plot that I’ve written for them. But much simpler, it’s the clothes! I’ve always been into fashion history and historical CC is actually how I found this community in the first place. So often if I’m tired out with writing or editing I’ll just go look through Pinterest for new stuff or scroll through my historical inspiration blog (which is linked in my pinned post if you’d like to check it out).

But above all, honestly, just don’t take it too seriously. Sometimes I see rather stringent calls for fashion accuracy or anachronisms but like…it’s your game. Start whenever you’d like, play however you’d like, for as long as you’d like. Hopefully this just gives you a bit of a framework for making that happen ❤️

Amporella and Allymumu need to learn better how to behave around minors. 

I really did not want to make this post, but I’ve come to the conclusion that my decision not to in the past was cowardly and I’m honestly tired of avoiding this as I have been, as well as having since lost all reason to keep quiet about it in the first place/learning new information that has made me increasingly uncomfortable with the situation. It has been on my mind near daily since some newer information became clear, and I need to talk about it. I also want to take full responsibility for not making this public sooner as I should have, as I played a part in letting this happen when I knew I should’ve spoken up back then.

To be clear, this post is not made with the intention of sending harassment toward either of these individual’s ways, nor am I trying to police who you are allowed to follow/interact with- I don’t care. As gross and damaging as I find this behavior, I honestly do not believe either of these people are predators, but I also think they need to grow the fuck up and stay away from minors until they learn how to act their age, make it clear they’ve stopped doing things like this, and apologize.

That being said, it has been almost a year, so maybe things have changed, but I haven’t seen any evidence of so, as well as a rise in generally toxic behavior and a tendency for these individuals to often interact with minors that I just find concerning given everything I know now.

As some of you may remember, in February, Allymumu and Amporella created a South Park server revolving around Kyle. They had asked for help with the creation and moderation of it, and as I was their mutual and had had many positive interactions with them before, I offered and the server was started up with me involved. This server was a mess of discussions of harassment of certain individuals in the fandom and just generally was just not moderated very well, and I found myself increasingly uncomfortable with being a part of the moderation, but I stayed on and was even involved in some of the gossip which I now do regret.

We were having a discussion one day in the server and the topic was edging NSFW in nature, and up until a point, I was a part of it. It’s also important to note that in this server, there was a NSFW section for adults only and a general section for everyone to interact, but this conversation was not in the NSFW section. At one point, Amporella sent a link to a NSFW fanfiction, and it was only at that point did I realize that we had been having this conversation in one of the main chats among minors. I cannot remember exactly how I responded, but I believe I deleted a few messages that were particularly edging NSFW territory and said that this conversation wasn’t appropriate, to which we moved to the mod chat to discuss. Here are the screenshots from this interaction:

Now, for anyone who doesn’t understand why this is wrong, an adult sending NSFW/discussing sexual topics with a child normalizes the idea to that child of having this content sent to them by adults, therefore making them more vulnerable to groomers, and overall is just a very creepy thing to do. I can understand this happening by mistake in a server, as it can be easy to forget that the little name tags around you might have a child behind that screen, but when this was pointed out, the correct measures to undo this damage were not taken and were in fact rejected- Ella and Ally (and Onix who no longer appears to be active) were not willing to do the right thing no matter what I told them, and that is what I find the most concerning and creepy- That my explanation of why this is so bad completely went over their heads as unnecessary and for what?? We had a NSFW channel that these conversations could be had in!! I cannot fathom any good reason that this needed to be discussed in a chat full of minors but that was somehow the conclusion they came to and I cannot understand why it was so important.

After I had left the server, a few members DMed me wondering why I had left. One who wishes to remain anonymous discussed the situation with me and sent me a drive of screenshots and described it to me as Ella and Ally discussing another user on tumblr negatively with minors involved in the conversation, including the nature of said user’s ships. I won’t go into detail on this nor do I have any interest in discussing the validity of the ship discourse itself, but the conversation was about them shipping incest.

When I was told this and sent the long folder of screenshots I honestly… Didn’t read it beyond skimming a few of the screenshots. I should’ve, but it just didn’t sound serious to me, as I didn’t think Ella warning minors about a user they found to be engaging with problematic things explicitly bad.

It was only recently that while discussing this whole thing with a close friend, who had I sent the screenshots to, did they read it and find that Ella had in fact been lightly pressuring one of the minors who I believe was 14 at the time to create a callout post on the individual who had been deemed problematic, as in the screenshot below:

Although they didn't directly ask the minor in question to create this callout, I think it's very clear that they were leaving that open for them to do so when they absolutely SHOULDN'T have been involving them in this deep, and I believe that the appropriate thing would've been telling the minor not to interact at all with this person. It is incredibly inappropriate to be sending a literal child to fight your battles for you, pressuring them into a situation where they must engage with this problematic material directly as well as communities engaging in such, and a situation where they may face harassment from someone who has been deemed toxic and dangerous enough to be called out at all and for what?? Because you don’t want to get your own hands dirty? I cannot stress how revolting this is.

At the time of the initial situation, for whatever reason, I thought Ella and Ally were around 18-19 and I’m not really sure exactly why I believed this? But I was, for some reason, under that impression. Onixtas was also confirmed to be fairly young, though I don’t remember their exact age. And while 18-19 year olds are still adults who should know better, I felt uncomfortable spreading this information as I did not want to ruin their image with these screenshots seeing as there are people out there who may go as far as to accuse them of being pedophiles, which I truly do not believe either of these people are, and I think it is more understandable that an 18 or 19 year old may make a stupid mistake like being too vulgar in a public chat.

That being said, I recently found out that Ella was in fact 24 when this happened, much too old for this to be understandable as being a bit irresponsible for her age! She should absolutely have known better. And honestly, I was wrong in keeping these private even considering the ages because it could still be incredibly damaging to the minors who were involved. Moreover, given that I gave them every chance in the world to understand why what they were sending was wrong, they should have stopped what they were doing right then, whether they were 18, 24 whatever. I was wrong for keeping this private and I do regret it and take full responsibility for doing so, but knowing that they were 24 made this all the more worse for me to fathom. Ella, Ally, I am begging you both to grow up and learn how to act around children. This is genuinely damaging and you need to step back from interacting so much with minors until you’ve shown that you understand why these things are wrong and aren’t going to do them again, though I find it personally really weird that you’ve made such an effort to be so surrounded by them as you are. It’s just not appropriate, and you’re way too old to be engaging this way with actual children online.

This post is not a callout with the intention of taking either of these people out or ruining their online images or to tell people that they’re bad for interacting with these users, but I’m done staying quiet about this and I want people to know because I want to be certain these things will change. I should’ve opened up about it far earlier and I hope that at the very least opening this information up will still have some effect in negating any damage caused by these people/potential future incidents that may have occurred. Hey, we’re back with this blog again! 🎉

I decided to redo this blog entirely because I honestly really did not like how the last one went. It wasn’t anything bad with the asks or the people who participated. It was mostly because of how much my characters have changed since the start of this blog. Short Description: A patrol officer for Parfeadia’s law enforcement. She hates reckless behavior and is usually in a sour mood. She’s Confetti Cookie’s older sister.

naw did yall see someone in the server sent their terra and said he was "very disabled" and when the mod thats active said that was an odd way to word it and they should probably word it differently they responded with the crying cat emoji and typing in caps lock like SORRY 😢😢 like oh my god you can't just *say that* made me so uncomfortable ffs

so i went looking for the interaction and heres the convo i found, im pretty sure some messages were deleted though

i will say this doesnt seem like a crazy interaction BUT as always i have some Thoughts

depending on the audience here some of yall might get really mad at me

the way the server treats disability has always come off as really weird to me, ive seen multiple people use autism as an excuse to be passive agressive, rude, or annoying even after being politely and explicitly told what things arent really appropriate (like some of the people who continually whine in chats about not winning raffles when its even been announced to Not Do That)

also the addition of pluralkit. thats a whole can of worms that i dont even wanna get into (but if yall wanna hear it then send me an ask lol)

this is what i mean when i talk about “the community terras cultivates,” its a huge group of tiktok-ified teens who get a very warped view of disability and talk super weirdly about things like this. and i hate to say it but a lot of them are into the social media world where they think that because they’re a little awkward or sometimes want to roleplay as their favorite characters, that means they have austism and DID

that being said, i think there is some leeway to be given, i mean we’re all weird when we’re around that age of young to mid-highschool, and theyll probably grow out of it and say wow that was super cringe

i just wish they wouldnt like, treat it as gospel when they say i have 200+ alters in a fictive heavy system, it just devalues and misleads those who actually suffer

which brings me back to the original point, the way these people talk about disability:

disabilities arent really a positive thing, to most theyre pretty negative. i cant imagine in my wildest dreams someone who has had their leg amputated going to people and treating it so flippantly as to say “yeah im suuper disabled”

disabilities are a part of life just as anything else, which means we shouldnt really have a whole party when someone draws a character in a wheelchair or with one leg. that doesnt mean you cant think “oh wow, cool, you dont see people draw that a lot” and be on your way, it just means we shouldnt treat it as some kind of brownie point celebration when a kid draws their oc and says “yeah this character has autism and schizophrenia and tourettes,” because at the end of the day, people with those disabilities in real life do not have celebrations about it, they dont meet people at a party and say “did you know i have tourettes,” they will talk about it normally as it comes up in life but its just. a part of their life.

when you make your disabled ocs, dont point at their disability and say “look how COOL this is! look how good i am for representing this!” instead, treat it the same way as if you were drawing an oc with short vs long hair. you dont make a character’s long hair the whole expression of their character, its just a part of their design (and by extension their “life”)

how do u convert toddler hair to infants? is it the same process as other ages? i cant figure it out :(

So here's my attempt at a tutorial (text-heavy, sorry in advance):

You need Sims 4 Studio and Blender version 3.3 or earlier. Put the original file in your Sims 4 Studio Mods folder. Open Sims 4 Studio.

Click "Create 3D mesh" and scroll until you find the file and click on it, and then click next. (You can shift click on the file and it will select all the swatches. You can also filter by custom content to find it easier) It will ask you to save the package so name it whatever you want and save.

Then it'll open the file. Click on the "categories" tag. Find where it says the age & gender tags and toddler should be checked. Un-check that and check infant instead and then you can click "apply to all swatches." I also scroll down to where it says age appropriate and switch that from toddler to infant. Then save. It should then show you an infant with hair floating. This is because the hair is still a toddler mesh.

Go to the mesh tab. Export the mesh. It will ask you to name it so name it something simple and save. It will then open a folder with your mesh in it. Right-click and open it with Blender. Select all the layers that start with "s4studio_mesh_" and depending on the mesh there could be several. (Click on the first one, then shift-click on the last one and it will select them all)

Then click on the "scale" button which is on the top left of the screen. Hit the "g" key, then press "z" twice. This will let you move the hair down but not any other way so it's really easy to get it in the right spot. When you have all the layers selected, you'll see colored shapes under the Sim and if you click on one and drag it, you can make the hair wider, skinnier, etc.

It does require playing around with it to see what each thing does. Once you're done, save it, then go back to Sims 4 Studio and import the mesh. Sometimes it takes a while. Once it's done, save your package again. Put the package in your Sims 4 Mods folder and done.

I hope this helps somewhat. I know it's a lot of text but I don't know how else to explain it. I had to experiment with different tutorials taking what I learned from both in order to make it work. I could try to do a short screen recording showing this if anyone wants that.

First time posting, so I hope I did this right. Sorry Yoshi if I mess it up; Tumblr has always been a scary new unknown world for me. Didn't understand how it worked back when it was new, and still don't know how it works now xD; Probably want to put a TW because of the third point.. and also apologies this is a bit long.  Anywho, First off, as has been stated a few times already by the looks of it: No one has to be comfortable with everyone. So the anon is allowed to be suspicious of whom I am and how I act. It's just human nature to be suspicious of things at times even if they seem good. The statement "To good to be true" always comes to mind. And of course, if I upset someone to much, blocking is always free~  Second, odd once again that people enjoy digging that up, but the "facts" around it are always wrong. I won't get into details because A) I'm already going to be typing out to much I think, and B) no one cares usually beyond what things look like at the surface, and I know what it looks like on the surface. I don't personally try to hide those accounts as I feel like there's nothing I need to hide, but obviously I don't link anything within FV because it'd break the TOS with how it obviously looks. I thought, though, that everything I personally ever posted was marked appropriately... If it's not, I'll have to see if I remember my login, as I haven't been many places in quite a while. That I do apologize about if that's true. And if it'd make people more comfortable if I posted my age on my profile, I don't mind adding that in. I won't post my birth date, but I'll post the year at the least. Third, I think at least for myself the reason why people "rush to my defense" is because the last time I was featured on this place, it was, bluntly, life ending levels of accusations, and those that knew me knew that wasn't true and started posting their defense. Those that knew me and talked to me later about it knew that I took it almost exactly that hard, and still think about it to this day. (I do thank Yoshi for scrubbing most of that time, as I didn't want things escalating beyond what they already had. I believe at least you were still the mod at the time here...) So my best guess is that some that know me or knew me during that time are trying to stop something like it from happening again. Aka, the age old "good intentions" sort of thing... But this is the internet; People will take any idea or ideal and run with it in whatever direction they like. Any amount of reason or logical facts won't change it. I thank those defending me, but at this point if people want to dig up old accounts across the web and fabricate things about me, they're allowed to do so. It won't ever make it fact no matter how hard they try. After living with depression for about 23 of the 35 years I've been alive; it hasn't killed me yet, and I don't plan on letting it do so any time soon. All of this, of course, only applies to my situation. Not sure about others if that really seems to be the case about people always coming to the defense of other popular/well liked users.  As an aside that's slightly linked to that, I don't usually come here unless someone I know pokes me and says that I should. I don't like how this place... "feels". Whenever I did come here back when I first learned of it and started reading, most of what I read seemed to be easily solved "issues" that people wanted to be salty about because... they wanted to be salty? Not how I enjoy my day, but not my place to tell others how they should live based off of my own ideals. There's already enough of that kinda stuff going on in my life; I don't want to come online just to ingest more of it. I probably won't be making any other posts and will continue to not read things here unless someone brings it directly to my attention. I only came here and made this post as the last thing I want is another "war" over me just because someone was uncomfortable with my vibe. I forgot if I was tagged or I just saw this and decided I was in the mood to answer questions so copied it and poked it in my drafts for some reason. Now it's being published. 1.What’s your favourite sims death?

I don't have a favorite type but I guess my favorites death of one of my sims was in an alternate timeline when Adriana Cosgrove just had a baby, was exhausted, starving and tried to make some toaster pastries and caught the kitchen on fire and I wasn't quite sure if she died from burning or starvation. That save borked so I had to back up three months before when she was alive and she avoided that fate and is now an elder, and went on to have a third child.

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match?

A healthy mix. I tend to lean more toward Alpha in Skin, Eyes, and Hairs. Clothes I can do either, furniture I tend to go for either as well.

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?

No, I make them use the gym. I downloaded those gyms for a reason. I'm going to use them damn it!

4. Do you use move objects?

Always.

5. Favorite mod?

The Sim Blender is quantifiably my favorite for how much I use it.

6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got?

Nightlife! I skipped Uni and bought NL for my sister (and also for me)

Fuck, 16 years later I probably have at least a top five that switches around every month. Let's say Amelia Calhoun (formerly Wellington) I have a ton of pictures of her sprinkled throughout this blog over the years. She's obsessed with the ocean.

Of course, when I first started out playing. Who hasn't?

None. I don't play with Traits.

Brown, I guess. EAxis hair colors I really don't like or use but if I have to it would be the brown as it doesn't stick out as much.

The shaggy male hair that was the epitome of 'cool' and 'hot' in 2005

Teen probably. Mostly for that's when their characters start really emerging for me as a player. Functionally, I think an adult is my favorite age stage.

I'm a player/sotryteller first and foremost but I get into building kicks.

I've made it before. Will probably make some again.

I'm friendly with a lot of simmers on simblr, and interact with them in other sims areas on the internet like Discord, the FB group, or Twitch and Twitter.

Sims 2 unequivocally. There is only room for 2 in my life.

Sims 2 shall have none. My next hope for a modding breakthrough is choosing seasonal casual clothing so that the game will show a sim on the lot in their seasonally appropriate casual wear. Good for places with different climates because who wants to see someone in long sleeves who lives in a temperate subhood, in the summery desert?

hey, interesting server. I'd like to ask about muses who don't have a canon age, since the rules doc mentions not being able to age up characters for post canon reasons. just want to be 101% sure about things before considering

Hey there, anon! Thank you for your interest! We do our best to make things interesting here.

As for your question, that's a tricky one without knowing anything about the muse or the work they're from, but assuming searching around doesn't yield anything, we would ask you to use you to use your best judgment based on a few factors.

The character's appearance. Does this muse look like a child or teen? Then they should probably be treated as a minor.

The character's behavior and circumstances. If they look like a child or teen, do they speak like a child and engage in childish behavior or activities? Do they play with other kids and see them as peers? Also, keep in mind that if a muse is implied to be hundreds or even thousands of years old but they look and act like a child, we would ask you to treat them and role them as a minor.

Additionally, if events in canon would indicate a range of ages that a muse could be, this should be taken into account. For example, I wrote a muse who was implied to have been born after a war that occurred 30 years prior, but based on her circumstances, mannerisms, etc., as well as the ages of some of the other characters in relation to her, I put her at the headcanon age of 25.

If you're really unsure, you can put something like "approximately" before their age. Guessing isn't a huge deal, as long as you've appropriately categorized them as a minor or an adult using your best judgment.

Sorry for the long-winded answer that basically boils down to "it depends," but it really does depend. You're more than welcome to DM us here or on Twitter if you want to talk about a specific muse and get our opinion. We hope we'll be able to work things out and see you here soon!
