i had typed this out longer and more eloquent but my phone froze and deleted it, so i'll just be frank. it is okay for you, as a transmasc or masculine person, to look for an older male role model to look up to. it is ok to draw inspiration from personal, and unknown, masculine figure(s) you can relate to and wish to be like as a man. it's ok to realize and recognize there is no such thing as a perfect man. because there isn't. just like there's no such thing as a perfect woman.

you are not betraying anyone by being yourself. you are not betraying your past self, by embracing who you are, even if in the past you've been traumatized and hurt by men. you are not a bad person for at one point not liking men or yourself as a man. you are not a bad person for being taught not to trust men by the men AND women in your family and BELIEVING IT STRONGLY. for seeing the cruel things that have happened to you and others at the hands of some men, you of course became angry, untrusting and cautious.

but you still have to realize not any of this pain will go away by labelling an entire group, an entire gender, even yourself, as "bad" or "evil". for you've seen what can happen if a boy isn't raised to behave this way as a man. you've seen men who work super hard and ones that have great morals. you've met great men and read about them. and just like any other cis boy, you have a right to find a male role model to look up to. even if it's at a later age then other men, you still have a right to experience it.

it's not wrong to want to experience it, whether you wish to dress, act, talk or do etc. behaving like said role model, OR NOT, is YOUR choice. and at the end of the day, your own personal definition of manhood and personality should always SHINE FIRST. always. so just know, you have a right as a man to now have a hero, like you would've as a young boy. we started our manhood journey late in life, so of course, we're just searching around for what masculinity means in this world when it involves us. and that's alright.

I believe the writers made a significant mistake in turning Alicent and Criston’s relationship into something physical in season two. In season one, their bond was built on courtly devotion, loyalty, and mutual respect—something far more complex and emotionally resonant than a physical relationship. By taking it in a physical direction, the writers diminished what could have been a profound and meaningful dynamic.

Courtly love, in medieval literature, often contains a romantic or even erotic element—the knight is handsome, the maiden fair. Yet, the degree of physical intimacy varies across tales. Some involve consummation and adultery, while others describe a love that is pure and spiritual, focused on admiration, loyalty, and service. When we look at Criston Cole and Alicent Hightower, their dynamic in season one leans far more toward the latter—a deep, almost spiritual loyalty rather than a physical romance. Two key factors make this clear:

Firstly, Ser Criston’s life was nearly destroyed by his previous physical intimacy with Rhaenyra. He would have faced severe punishment, likely being gelded and sent to the Wall, as happened to Ser Lucamore, another white cloak who broke his vows. Criston is so tormented by this breach of his sacred oath that he even attempts suicide, saved only by Alicent’s intervention. His fear of the consequences and his shame show how much physical intimacy cost him, and it seems unlikely that he would risk it again—especially with someone as important as the Queen.

Secondly, Alicent’s own experiences with intimacy are likely tainted by duty rather than passion. Her marriage to Viserys was more about fulfilling her role as queen and bearing legitimate heirs. Viserys was much older and physically deteriorating, a “living corpse,” and it’s doubtful that Alicent ever truly loved him. While she may have had affection for him as the father of her children, their relationship was never about love—it was about duty. Viserys himself never stopped loving Aemma, and their marriage was more of an obligation than a romance. Alicent is also deeply invested in her faith, praying regularly and adhering to her religious values. Given her personal history and beliefs, it seems unlikely that she would engage in fornication, particularly with someone who had sworn an oath to the gods, like Criston. Her faith, her past experiences, and Criston’s own trauma make it improbable that their relationship would turn physical.

One moment in season one epitomises this sense of chivalric, courtly devotion. In episode 9, Alicent says to Criston: "I trust again to you, Ser Criston, and to your loyalty. Everything you feel for me... as your queen." This line perfectly encapsulates the emotional tension between them—it’s a relationship based on loyalty, duty, and perhaps even admiration, but not physical desire.

So, why did the writers make the choice to turn this relationship physical in season two? It seems that the only reason for pushing a physical relationship between Alicent and Criston was to draw a parallel between her and Rhaenyra. However, this parallel doesn’t hold up. Alicent and Rhaenyra are fundamentally different. Alicent fulfilled her duties as a wife and queen, giving Viserys legitimate heirs. Rhaenyra, by contrast, defied the expectations placed on her as a royal woman and engaged in affairs that complicated her claim to the throne. The attempt to equate their situations through a physical relationship between Alicent and Criston falls flat, as it undermines the depth and complexity of both characters.

In conclusion, In season one, the bond between Alicent and Criston was built on something far more profound than physical desire. It was rooted in loyalty, admiration, and the chivalric ideal of a knight serving his queen (the queen that saved and forgave him). A physical relationship cheapened that connection, when keeping it as courtly devotion would have been far more powerful and in line with both characters' experiences and values. The first season laid the groundwork for a relationship built on duty and honour, and that should have remained the foundation of their bond.

i just went snooping for my meta on this specific situation since i've written about it before, and predictably i can't find my own post 🥲 but the tl;dr version of what i wrote is that no, i don't believe jin guangyao would have killed jin ling, and i don't think jin ling was actually in any serious danger from jin guangyao at any point. in danger from the broader situation they were all in? sure, absolutely. but no, jin guangyao would never have harmed jin ling physically.

that does not mean he isn't absolutely shattering jin ling's understanding of their relationship in this moment, or that it isn't a devastating betrayal of his trust by his xiao-shushu, who has always loved and cared for him. but the text of the novel makes it quite clear that jin guangyao is exerting an immense amount of control to ensure the guqin string does not even draw blood when he is holding it to jin ling's neck. and while cql made the absurd decision to have jin ling bleeding and choking from the pressure on his neck from the string (i'm still mad about that tbh), we also see the moment jin guangyao lets go of the string and then quickly shoves jin ling to safety as soon as wen-possessed-by-baxia bursts into the temple and starts to lunge for jin ling.

basically, no, jin guangyao would not have killed jin ling.

Soundwave was known to be very shy whenever he'd suddenly fall in love with someone.

Even back in the pits...

It was the same cycle.

And as always, he needed help this time. With Shockwave...

"/I don't need help./" Soundwave protested.

Both Megatron and Illusion were pushing him to Shockwave's lab, ignoring his complaints.

"Soundwave, every time you have a crush, you always back out and not interact with them. I expected you to be much braver than this." Megatron said.

"《And you literally have a breakdown whenever some other older bots got what you wanted, and this time, we're helping your hopeless aft》" Illusion types the code onto the panel.

As soon as the door opens, the door immediately closes.

Both turned to Soundwave.

"Soundwave." Megatron warned.

"/I'm not talking to him!/" He yelled.

Megatron rubbed his temples as Illusion sighed.

"《It's not so hard! It's fucking Shockwave! He's like- the most nonemotional guy in the face of Cybertron. If he doesn't like you, he'd be straightforward about it》"

Soundwave slumped as she said that.

Megatron hits her helm.

"Don't listen to her. I'm sure he likes you. Trust me, he talks about you a lot." Megatron said.

Soundwave looked torwards the door, feeling a small twinge of hope settke in his spark.

"/Alright, I'll do it. Wish me luck/" With that, he turned around and entered the lab.

"《Can we kill Shockwave if he rejects him?》" Illusion asked her brother.

Megatron shook his helm.

Soundwave entered the lab, seeing all sorts of experiments around. He then noticed Shockwave working on something.

He quietly strolls forward.

"/Shockwave./"

He turned around.

"Soundwave. I believe you have something to tell me." He spoke.

Soundwave's visor brightens as he said that.

"/Shockwave: knows why I'm here?/"

Shockwave nodded.

"I got an alert someone trying to enter my lab. I accessed the cameras outside and hears your conversation with our lord and weapon specialist."

Soundwave gulps.

"/what does Shockwave think...?/" He asked, bracing himself for the answer.

"I must say, I did not expect one of my superior officers to reciprocate my own feelings." He said.

Shockwave took his servo, lovking theirs together.

"I would like to get to know you more." Shockwave's finials moved eagerly.

"/Soundwave: looking forward to it/" He squeezed his servo.

Both siblings were trying to listen in on their conversation, which was hard.

"《Think he actually did it?》" She asked.

Megatron shrugged.

"Well- he's not running out like usual. Maybe he did it." Megatron said.

"《Good for him.》" She said.

"....Illusion."

"《What?》"

"Get off my shoulders."

Sorry, I really can't keep quiet about this because this series has been my brainrot for the past couple months and this is pretty..;; hehe.. depending on how it plays out, it will determine how I'll feel about this entire work completely. So bear with me for the next few weeks!

There are a few panels that really stand out in terms of expressions that really bug me, this guy could be acting. Putting the rest in the read-more, I'm vagueposting but still, I feel it's better manners to do so.. I'm sorry for being unable to keep to myself. I hope you understand though, I've been drawing something for this series almost every single day!

There are a few really genuine-looking ones and those.. could be interpreted as him being concerned over Aqua, it's not really my wishful thinking because he's actually persuading his son to think of things he must live for, regardless of what thoughts and intent he has behind it. He DOES want Aqua to live, and when Aqua says he'd give up on that, he has the exact same face he had when he fell in despair in the movie arc (when Ai said she'd leave him/when Airi gaslit him). I think that expression IS real. And he's really shocked when Aqua.. yeah, does what he does. So I don't think he likes the idea of Aqua dying.

I've been looking at this character a lot, and came to a conclusion that his smiles are masks. I've mentioned this a few times in my earlier analyses regarding him and in one post, I wrote:

That smile he floats is consistent through the entire time he's shown in the story and the only times it breaks is when it has to do with Ai and when she sees him through. And it starts to break the moment he sees her talking about him. Every expression he makes when he sees Ai in the video are his true feelings. His smiles, on the other hand, are his coping mechanism and are all masks.

so I actually feel this is the case this time too, the author wouldn't have made this guy a genius actor who's TAUGHT Ai to act for nothing... The whole chapter starts out with his expression being expressionless, then forming a smile, just before he starts saying everything onwards. And by doing this, he IS actually talking to his son to forget about killing him and go on living his own life while sounding pretty evil...

but that means we can't believe the god or whatever she says either, so that's why I don't know. She was wrong about Ryosuke and "a middle school boy" having gone to the hospital once if Kamiki never went and it was really Nino, but would she be TOTALLY off in this case? I have no idea. That's what makes it confusing for me and have a lot less hope on how things will unveil, but the expression cues do say something... if it weren't for her, I'd say he's acting.. but the things she mentions about him are just too...that of a third-rate villain and it's so nonredeemable. If that is right, the whole idea of Ai having wanted to help him is sort of thrown out the window. They DIDN'T need to make her say that... it was so WISE of her to leave a guy like him, and all her visions of him were wrong, you know?

So I'm just.. wondering how much we need to trust the crow.

I thought I could trust her, but how much does she actually know?;

Or maybe it IS true that Kamiki's done some hideous things the way she's depicted it, and yet he doesn't want his SON to be the same way.

If there's one thing I can pick up from this chapter that's going to be released... it'd be that Kamiki doesn't want Aqua to die. He thinks there's many reasons for Aqua to go on living. If you pay careful attention to his speech, that's what he's actually talking about... he actually looked a little relieved when Aqua agrees he has a lot to live for and that breaks when Aqua still refuses.

Yeah.. I think.. I'll stick around a bit more actually. The part that REALLY bothers me is what Tsukuyomi says, if that's really true.. ehh.....it's a huge let-down for me I don't like that. It's not a very good way to use this character. It's really dumb and I don't think it works but if the author says so; okay?? but I won't feel the need to collect the physical volumes any further if that's true. That's just me though.
