30 Days of the Cornetto Trilogy Challenge || Day 21: A hot take

I don’t know how much of a hot take this is, I hope the tumblurinas would forgive me this one.

Okay so I’m saying this with all the love in my heart for Hot Fuzz alright. It’s one of my favourite movies remember this is one of my favorite movies ever. 

But anyway omg. Omg. The fucking ending is so long. The last 30 minutes are a fucking new movie. And it just keeps going. I know that is like The Point and it has great scenes and moments on it but in general... Like I love rewatching Hot Fuzz over and over but in the point where Nicholas goes full cop I’m like “ok movie done I was here for the Agatha Christie type mystery”. So it’s like yeah complaining about the action on the action movie BUT I am here for the mystery and the buddy cop and the romance alright. And I’m going to say... probably my least favourite action scenes of any Edgar Wright movie. Like I can watch non stop the ones on Sotd and god you don’t know how many times I have watched the fights on Twe to a point I could tattoo them on my heart. 

Like I usually find gun action scenes and car chases boring but Edgar Wright managed the impossible and made them great on Baby Driver. But not a fan of the ones in Hot Fuzz. And Danny fake dying I remember watching it for the first time like “please we know you aren’t gonna kill him so who are you trying to trick” but to be fair apparently some people who watched it knowing it was after SotD were like “oh shit are they going to kill Nick Frost in all of them?” SO WELP

But anyway I think it speaks a lot of my love of the movie that is one of my fave movies even when I find 1/4 of the movie a bit boring ogfhjigfojgfogf I’m sorry Hot Fuzz I know a lot of people love your actions parts so its okay. And like it couldn’t be any other way. It’s not Hot Fuzz without 30 min of crazy action. I wouldn’t change it.  

ALSO I gotta admit these parts in the end got my approval when I heard some guys saying that Nicholas going on his white horse to make Danny’s dreams come true is basically the romcom moment of winning back their LI with the Great Gesture of Love. And that’s Nicholas great gesture, pium pium shooting old people. Honestly it is very endearing when he is being the cool action hero guy for Danny, and is trying to impress him saying the cool lines he said in the past, and is very cute how at the end the “I feel like I should say something smart.” “You don’t have to say anything at all.” Because is the... hey you don’t have to be the perfect action hero for me moment you know. Anyway I love them

so i was having bubble tea earlier and i started thinking,,,,what cod characters would like it? i feel like price def wouldn’t,,simon wouldn’t mind it but he does def think its too sweet and proper tea is superior and blah blah blah (i acc don’t know im kinda divided on that like i hc him as a sweet tooth but bubble tea,,,ehhh i feel like he wouldn’t like it all that much like he’d be all grumbly about it,,, idfk

so you'll be jus chillin w the 141 on base and then say something like "boba is absolute gas shits better than normal tea" and of course, since the majority of the taskforce is british, you get absolutely fucking jumped for it. like- keep in mind, you say this price, the NUMBER ONE TEA AND BISCUTS DEFENDER, so you do end up getting toilet duty for a week with the explanation of 'uncordial behaviour.'

but after your deployment, you are the one to arrange where the 141 meet up. it's a little ritual you guys have developed to stay connected in between missions, one that makes your friendship seem a bit more real. sometimes the only thing that keeps your eyes open and heart pumping. and since you're an absolute fucking menace, you ask if you can meet around the heart of london- and then drag them all into the nearest bubble tea store you can.

price... doesn't end up liking it. takes a total of two sips, nearly chokes on the pearls, and then sets the cup down. he claims he's been around long enough to know that this- like many other foods, is probably some 'trendy millennial bullshit that'll disappear in a solid few', but that doesn't help ease the insane side eye that he gets from the cashier.

but to your surprise, ghost seems somewhat okay with it. his face doesnt really change (from what you can tell- his mouth is still hidden due to some face mask he put on), but he seems neutral, relaxed, even. he mutters something along the lines of how it isn't too bad, but it doesn't beat a cuppa- to which you chose to ignore, and how he'll probably just stick to having an earl grey in the mornings. but a few months later, you catch him at the same boba store, and you cant help but giggle to yourself.

soap fucking inhales the drink. its genuinely concerning, to say the very least. he seems to like.. unhinge his jaw like some kind of snake, and then inhales the whole drink in what you think is a millisecond. and since he's the only scotsman on the team- thinks the whole 'tea n biscuits' ritual his colleagues have is utter stupidity, so not only does he now FREQUENTLY drink boba because he likes it- he also drinks out of utter spite.

gaz is the only one with a seemingly respectable opinion about boba, unfortunately. he's had it before, multiple times- it appeals to his sweet tooth and is the occasional treat after long missions. but unlike you, gaz does not value peace, and seems to keep egging soap on in chugging unreasonable amounts of the drink. (and he doesnt mention it, as he does not want to face the same punishment as you did, but he thinks that bubble tea is sometimes, just sometimes better than his cuppa.)

Decided to just send this in directly but! I have explanations for everything so buckle in bc when i say i have brain rot about this fic I MEAN IT ITS SO GOOD

1. BI BUG CONFIRMATION. ENOUGH SAID.

2. I will never forget reading that scene from season 1 of steve driving bug home w her bike in his trunk and her all flustered about it and i dont super remember what time of day it was in the scene but in my head it was right after sunset where the sun has set but its light creates this contrast that makes everything look cool toned in comparison to whats in the light n i wanted to play w that in the coloring also im a sucker for steve n his big arms so this was almost entirely self indulgent

3. The cardigan bc i needed to. I re read that chapter constantly it gives me all the warm n fuzzies and thats good for the soul

4. The phones were both an “i need to put this in here immediately bc my brain never stops thinking about it” and a filler for blank space. The colors for each are tied to what s3 bug and what s3 are associated w in my head like you cannot tell me bug isnt soft ivory coded and steve is not light grey-blue coded in s3 it just feels right for them (plus i needed to reference the nicknames at least once my very soul craved it)

5. Dustins hat was a lil bit of a last minute thing, i was working on a bigger piece w all of this kids n their looks for season 3 but it wasnt coming out the way i wanted it to so i scrapped it but i still wanted a something in there that wasnt steve or bug related and it felt fitting to put in dustins camp know where cap both bc of his relationships w steve n bug and bc every now and then i think about how dustin felt ditched by the party at the beginning and how heartbreaking that scene was when i read it n how much i just wanted to hug the lil guy bc feeling lonely at an age like that is so devastating it made my heart hurt for him so i wanted to have a lil thing for dustin in there somewhere

6. In the show i really liked the whole bit w steve asking girls out and robin keeping score n before you wrote this scene i was curious as to how you were going to go about it and it ended up cracking me up dude i love that scene if him just being awkward and so not “king steve” suave and i needed to put down how my brain saw that scene to something visual bc it was so ugh hes such a dork i love steves himbo self

7. Follow up is the lil doodle of steve n robin running around high as hell and there was no way i wasnt going to include that somehow if i am given the chance to write the phrase “trash popcorn” and draw robin frolicking i will take it with both hands and bolt

8. Going back to the whole “steve is a desaturated light blue in s3” thing i just wanted an excuse to draw my boy being cute in my head this is when hes helping bug put away books at her job and yes the anatomy is a lil wonky but i luv him and his hair swoops and joes side profile is so very fun to draw <3

Over all come home is wonderful n amazing and i love it n ur brain is so big n full of wrinkles

the DETAILS ???? you brought the cardigan to life. its exactly how i envisioned it in my head, its BEAUTIFUL :((((( and bug being ivory and steve a blue ,,,, god you really truly nailed this i again cannot put into words how PHENOMENAL this is. the telephone lines being connected with their nicknames, steve carrying a box of books at bugs job, him driving and the setting sub (which you got EXACTLY. it was the same i envisioned in my head writing that scene), the bi colors on the lady bug like are u kidding me !!!! youre insane and i LOVE YOU !!!

steve n high robin doodle is so <333 and the steve scene at scoops with his flustered monologue in the background made me giggle so hard oh my god.

i know you dont know this, but my birthday is tomorrow and this is the best gift ive ever been given. i want to frame the doodles and put it on my bedroom wall because i am astounded and in awe of your talent and still so baffled my fic was brought to life !!!!! its mind boggling and i cannot thank you enough for this experience <333

in general magic is kind of weird there’s multiple methods to cast the same spell those being spell components, incantations, somatic (gestures). each has their merits and flaws/ u can choose to use only one/ any most people stick with 1-2

there’s all kinds of spells and people are either born with an innate specialty in it or grow up developing it; power is how strong their magic can be, control is how much of a grasp they have on their magic, the lower control is compared to power the more easy it is for someone’s magic to go out of control (aira in this AU but i’ll talk about that when i have the alkaloid one made). if someone has more control than power they’re able to do very precise things with their magic with no focus at all while others would need some focus; general populace has both equal, usually people that dont hone their skills (common villagers) stay at 1 star for both

niki’s outfit is very simple and inspired by his fs2, very versatile and such because he’s always out and about chasing after exotic creatures to add to his checklist cloak HGFSDH he learned to sew from Aira’s mom when he was little and made most of his clothes himself, his satchels, and even helps the others when they need his skills whenever hes in town. even though he clearly puts spices etc. on one side compared to his components on the other, he still mixes them up because he is silly Aka is very fluffy and has kind of wild hair like. someone we know. i wonder who bright blue eyes (also like someone we know. ) but foxes are funner to draw with just closed eyes

RInne just has his normal village clothes with like longer and some changes to make it more. fantastical???? idk im soooo bad at designing clothes lmfao but before the “fox” is out of the bag he doesn’t really shift back much except to stretch and mess around with meru so he doesnt really. get different clothes. def after the reveal he stays in that form more around niki and they do get him different clothes. idk what they would be maybe niki would make them because he gets sick of seeing both hiiro and rinne in his house wearing the same things all the time. oh yeah i havent gone over this yet but yeah hiiro does refuse to leave because rinne refuses to leave so he just. lives with them on niki’s couch LMAO. who knows. maybe he becomes a denizen of the beehive rinne also still shifts because he finds moving around as a little guy more convenient and also niki still finds that form cute and cant say no if he does the puppy eyes so it usually goes like niki: rinne-kun, no rinne: boo-hooo.. niki~kyun.... (swishes his finger and ina  poof hes aka again with round blue eyes) niki: niki: i know what you’re doing, its not going to work this time aka (rinne): whimpers niki: niki: (throws his hands in the air) oh my god fine rinne: (quickly changes back and grabs niki and cheers)

i havent gotten to kohaku’s fic yet but he’s good at stealth magic. like really good. he can make himself vanish and no one will be able to find him when he’s right next to them. think about that as you will. when aira brought him to the beehive he only had a yukata and worn down sandals and since he and aira had similar builds he just ended up getting clothes from aira for most of the time; he does have shirts that are specifically his because they all have little pockets sewn on (by niki!) for rabu-han junior but with coats pants and outerwear he and aira just share except kohaku stays away from some of aira’s more. fancy clothes ?? lmao not to his taste rabu-han junior is a little hamster familiar that he met one day and made a familiar pact agreement with. rabu-han junior usually sits in his pocket, but if need be rabu-han junior can grow MASSIVE from 3 inches to 6 feet. Big mode. in big mode he can easily carry. 4 people. lmfao. rabu-han junior also shares magic with kohaku and technically is as strong as him and from that logic. rabu-han junior is better at magic than poor rabu-han (original)

merumeru’s clothes are all from kaname except the coat the coat is tatsumi’s. no idea why himeru hasn’t thrown it away though. maybe somewhere deep in his heart he does care for tatsunn his main reason for leaving was he didnt want tatsumi to always be in pain from seeing him, the very spitting image of kaname

all of him is just like kaname except: slightly older, longer hair, hair dark grayish at the ends and its not visible much and he does do illusion magic to change it but he has cat eyes pupils kittymeru is mainly dark gray (the same color as his human hair ends) with kaname-blue highlights and the long strand, the proof that kaname was the one that conjured him and essentially put part of himself in meru

Okay I cant -- I need to say it out loud.

I am 100% sure, at this point, you are my favourite artist so far. And I have to honestly thank you for a lot of stuff so let me get to the point before my anxiety takes me back --

I came across you less than a month ago. I don't remember if I saw your art before reading your fictions (Mon Horrible Cherì was my first) or the other way around, but both inspired me so much I can't describe it properly. Art itself is my absolute weak spot. In my past years I always struggled working on that, I was never happy with my results, and mostly had drawn to pay bills than for my own happyness. In the end I hated it at the point that every line I drew was a cut on my hand instead of a moment of joy. And that was horrendous.

But then I came across your art, at some point - and I was amazed. Your style is something I wished to achieve years ago, or very similar to that at least, so I was totally into looking for more, and more, and more. I can't produce art of that quality, but for the first time I wasn't envious of another artist's ability and talent, I was just... Amazed. I felt very happy, can't say why, but your style totally fascinated me. It still do. Anytime you post something new it gives me a shot of serotonine, it makes me feel happy and inspires me to get back on my Huion and draw something too. I started to push it through everyday, and in less than a month I grew a lot. You don't know that, but you pushed me into art with a passion I didn't had since I was 16, and I turned 30 couple months ago. Now it gives me joy everytime I draw. It doesn't matter if the art I produce is no good, or if I change my style everytime (I'm trying a lot of styles right now), the only thing that matter is the way I feel when I sit here and just let my inspiration go. And I feel happy. Happy to draw. Happy to experiment. Happy to share. Somehow I don't feel ashamed of my art anymore, and I was for a long time. I improved so much in these weeks. I watched carefully almost all of your timelapses (I am in love with all of them btw) and followed your tutorials more than once. Your examples, the way you work, is just inspirational for me. I've seen someone was thankful to you for the way you use references and says people out there to do it too: I want to thank you for that too. References was a taboo until last month for me, and I was SO wrong! Those helps so much!

So, well. I am not sure I wrote this all correctly, english is not my native language (I'm italian) and I may have done some mistakes, well, I do not care. I just hope I was able to express you my gratitude for all you did for me - I had to let you know how much this means to me everyday.

Oh also: I love every part of your art, but I could stare at your linearts for days and never get bored by that. And the way you color! Don't make me start on that. I could speak for hours. Not sure you'll want that, believe me.

okay. OKAY SO. gonna give u a basic rundown. basically, i have my Gravity Falls ocs (they're the ones i talk most about so i'm assuming these are the ones you're referring to)

my 4 Main ones are laurie, jocelyn, sam, and rudy !!! (aysel is another one, but he's in a different universe. if that makes sense. i won't be talking about her here)

so basically. i'm not gonna go TOO deep into lore, but i will do a super quick recap.

laurie (ginger one) was born in canada, had to move to the States just before high school. it's super scary!!! bcs she's all alone and whatnot. BUT! then she meets some new friends!! (sam and rudy [bottom two]) trio hijinks ensue, laurie falls in love with jocelyn, even more hijinks ensue. high school finishes, and they all part ways. laurie and jocelyn go to backupsmore, sam goes to west coast tech, and rudy stays in idaho for college.

laurie and jocelyn then meet ford and fiddleford (who have been there for 2 years already), and sam and rudy do their own thing in their own schools ig.

they all graduate from their separate colleges and go off to do their own things as adults !!!

sam does astrophysics and science and NERD STUFF and becomes PRETTY famous! (she even wrote a few books!!)

rudy does comics for a living, like, drawing and writing them! it's been one of his passions Forever. so!!

and laurie and jocelyn live happily in gravity falls !!

do u ever feel like all the good work here is getting recognized lesser ? because I see amazing stuff like yours and more stuff get notes and i love it so much when the authour tries to stick to the actual character and doesn't absultely deviate from the character. i feel that the ones with more deviation from the characters get more love, because capturing the character as it is so much difficult compared to change the entire thing. i read permission and honestly it feels like Sukuna. The rest i have read dont even feel like sukuna.

my point here is that i feel like true talent isnt being recognized. your work deserves so much more attention and love for writing sukuna so much like he is. not a lot of people manage to write him like that. i honestly love you and this one other user [not gonna be revealing there name because theyr'e a follower of yours too] and that's it. you write sukuna for sukuna. i love u for that. very honestly. i love ur work all art and writing included. sorry for ranting at 5 am in ur inbox but i wanted to show my appreciation. love you .

And yes, I do feel like that. I sometimes feel like ppl who draw or write him once in a while for funsies often get more appreciation for their work than ppl who truly appreciate him and try to learn about him and understand him and all of that.

People call me „the“ Sukuna artist, yet my art (at least on twitter) barely gets interactions that exceed 1k and then I see other art that gets so much more interactions, seemingly without much effort. Repeatedly. So it feels super weird for me and on bad days, it also makes me sad to see that my art didn‘t get the appreciation that I wished for it, despite me putting 10-20 hours into one piece. (not super healthy, I know)

Putting „my title“ aside, I do love my art and writing myself and I feel like it deserves recognition and that it should be recognised more. It might sound arrogant, but I do feel like that. But it‘s difficult when you don‘t purely draw nsfw, when you don‘t have an anime art style and/or are not able to put out art constantly because you‘re also writing a long ass fanfiction on the side… Algorithms fault too I guess.

On tumblr I do get super sweet messages really often from y‘all who write long texts about how much they love Permission or my art and it really moves me. I don‘t feel the need here to check on likes or anything much, because y‘all are super vocal and I love that. It makes me feel appreciated.

And I know I shouldn‘t pay attention to likes and all, but I would lie if I said I don‘t enjoy how ppl go nuts when they consume my art and writing? Like, of course it feels great to be cherished for something you created.

So, a message like the one you wrote means a lot to me, really! It means you didn‘t just scroll across my stuff, but you took your time with it, to look at it, to read it. That is amazing and I‘m really thankful for that.

I've been studying the in-game graffiti a lot lately to try and create the most canon-accurate designs as I can (cause I'm a loser and have no creativity unless its like three in the morning) and even though I know you're not aiming for it your designs are literally the closest to "canon" ancient designs I've found. hybvendoifwensc I'm very normal about this

And now I honestly feel a bit bad because somehow all of my headcanons seem to be copying your headcanons and I feel like a jerk but your lore is SO GOOD I CAN'T HELP IT ARGH

OF COURSE ancients are some sort of evolved anemone creature. If you look closely their hair is CLEARLY NOT HAIR ITS LITERALLY TENTACLES

And that thing you just posted about the feeding tentacles?? YES. JUST. YES. one of the graffitis shows an ancient with little dots around its mouth/nose area and I had though they were some form of whiskers but little face tentacles are SO MUCH COOLER

I could seriously rant about your lore for hours it drives me crazy in the best way possible

yeah!! i feel like I made good progress in regards to the goals i made last year (better composition, stronger colors, etc. etc.)... the pieces i made this year are definitely more busier-looking than my 2021 and 2020 summaries. howeverrr theres a drop in quality from August to October tho bc I went on a trip to the Philippines with my mom and only had my ipad lol 😭 I’m not too good with procreate yet

hmm but yuh im p satisfied with the stuff I’ve made. i’m still trying to figure out my rendering style but I like where it’s going so far! esp with my november pieces (ty so much for the 1k on that souyo art btw i was so giddy drawing it and was really excited to post it 🥺so real)...

for goals, i’d like to work more on drawing complex bgs that are more urban/interior, better framing and dynamic perspective, varied color palettes, and more expressive character movement! that last one was one of my goals from last year too and while i think i did improve, it still has this stiffness i gotta hammer out. gotta keep on that anatomy study grinddd, its the only way
