something i noticed is that whenever crowley and aziraphale do have physical touch it’s always ( ? ) aziraphale initiating it . it’s aziraphale who occasionally puts his hand on crowley’s chest , arm , back , whatever to guide him . it’s aziraphale resting his hand on crowley’s arm to tell him something . it’s aziraphale took crowley’s hand to dance , something crowley would have never done otherwise . but the kiss . that is the first time crowley has been the one to initiate physical contact . the first time . and as far as he knows , the last .

I LIVE FOR BOOK AZIRAPHALE AND CROWLEY

Apparently in the book, Aziraphale and Crowley are implied to be a gay couple MANY TIMES.

A girl at Warlock’s birthday party calls Aziraphale a faggot.

Anathema automatically assumes that Crowley and Aziraphale are a gay couple after Crowley says “Goodnight miss. Get in, Angel.” to Aziraphale

Also, One scene I wish would’ve been acted out as it is in the book is when they both get shot with the paintball guns. How it happens in the book is Aziraphale ends up FALLING BACKWARDS INTO A RHODODENDRON BUSH and Crowley sinks down on a statue.

Crowley believes he is bleeding YELLOW and DYING and instead of, ya know, helping Aziraphale UP AS HIS ANGEL HAS JUST SAUNTERED VAGUELY DOWNWARDS INTO A BUSH, HE JUST CHOOSES TO CRAWL INTO THE BUSH AS WELL, BELIEVING SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH BIOLOGY. Aziraphale tells Crowley it hurt and it hit him under his ribs, which he brushes off TO ASK IF ANGELS BLEED BLUE.

Aziraphale proceeds to the same self examination as Crowley.

Crowley only figures out it is PAINT when he TASTES IT. They conclude it is PAINT.

6000 years on earth, and these idiots don’t know what a paintball gun is.

the way i so personally need messy queer breakup crowley in season 3. let him mope around his sad apartment listening to sad music all disheveled in an ancient queen tshirt. let him dye his hair an awful color or get a piercing he’ll regret. let him get wasted with nina and maggie whilst he talks their ears off about each and every time he and aziraphale made eye contact. this is the queer representation i crave.

no bc this is literally the same joy as the first scene he has just matured- he’s just been affected by everything he’s gone through since. Falling, losing his sense of self, experiencing the horrors of hell and the horrors and sorrows of humanity, nearly losing the world & the material things he loves- at one point actually losing his only companion- but he’s still the same person he still loves so deeply, he still has so much joy- aziraphale just doesn’t SEE because it so often happens when Crowley is actively admiring Aziraphale’s actions or when he is doing something for him when he isn’t there to make him happy.

God, the fact that when Crowley said “You can’t leave this bookshop” he really meant “You can’t leave me.” And so when Aziraphale, who didn’t understand that was what he meant, replied with “Nothing lasts forever.” All Crowley heard was “We were never going to last forever.” Even though that was NOT what Aziraphale meant. Those two real are the gold medalists of miscommunication.

Can we talk about this?

I feel like this gets so overlooked due to the whole “Rescuing me makes him so happy” bit. But I absolutely adore how Crowley says he won’t leave Aziraphale and almost before he’s done saying this Aziraphale is already saying “I know.”

Look, our ineffable duo kind of fail at communicating well (it’s basically the whole theme of season 2 and a consistency of the series so far), but they do trust each other.

I think this is partially why Aziraphale was so shocked by Crowley not following him to heaven. There’s push and pull, but Aziraphale trusts Crowley to play a protector for him and to always come back.

Just look at their fights so far. In particular, they fight about the holy water but Crowley later shows up and saves Aziraphale from the Nazis. They fight twice about running off together during season 1 and both times Crowley comes back to see Aziraphale. They fight about what to do with Jim and Crowley storms off saying Aziraphale is on his own only to return and apologize.

But part of the problem is Aziraphale takes that trust for granted. He constantly pushes Crowleys boundaries, but returning to Heaven was a hard limit. This demon who has put his life on the line multiple times for Aziraphale because of love and trust says no and Aziraphale constantly pushes past that to get his way with the expectation that Crowley will fall in line with him again.

And I say all this to say, Crowley comforted Aziraphale saying he wouldn’t leave him and Aziraphale implicitly believed him. But when has Aziraphale done that for Crowley?

i think that we, as a society, put so much shame in rejection/not being reciprocated in your feelings that now many people see that as the worst thing in the world to ever happen, even in books. as if the lack of love is the most devastating thing you could find.

meanwhile, i think the possibly more heartbreaking thing there could ever be is reciprocated love. it’s a love that is there, the love is there, it just can’t happen. they both love each other but they can’t kiss, they can’t hold hands, they can’t say it out loud but they both know. the love is there.

“oh but x never loved y that’s why he did that!” i hate this type of accusations, x loved y and he did that anyway, the love was there, aziraphale loves crowley and he still went to heaven, the master loved the doctor and he still will never forgive him, sherlock loves john and he still hurt him, how do you cope with that? if you know that the love is there, what explanation can you find now behind those actions? i care about you and i still will hurt you and i will make bad choices and i love you and i will claw my way out of my own skin if i ever have to say that out loud.

and you still look at him, you still yearn for him and you pretend not to see the hand that lingers a bit too long on your shoulder and you pretend to adjust his tie just to catch a glimpse of his bare neck on your fingertips. i can’t, i can’t.
