So I've been playing around with Cāngjié…
And I thought a post like this (similar to a post on Zhùyīn done by linghxr) may be of interest to some.
Edited: 10 Sep 2023
This post has gotten a little popular lately and on scrutinizing my own post again, I've come to the conclusion that I had made some mistakes in my given character examples.
Amended now. Namely, 「唔」 and 「龍」 have now been swapped over in the examples.
「唔」 is really the “3-parts”, and 「龍」 is indeed a “2-parts” character! Amendments are reflected in orange.
What (and who) is Cāngjié?
For those who may not know, Cāngjié is another way to input 漢字/汉字 (Hànzì — Chinese characters). It is way less popular than Pinyin (or even Zhuyin) but it still has its fans, and has a few advantages over the other two.
Cāngjié is also the name of the mythical figure in Chinese legend who is said to have been the inventor of 漢字/汉字, for which Cāngjié (the input system) was named after.
Tumblr media
Would I recommend it?
Yes, if you think you have already acquired a good (enough) understanding of 漢字/汉字, and/or just like a new challenge.
(TL;DR at the end)
Why am I learning Cāngjié (and why you may like to, too)?
1. Mostly for fun.
Have long been intrigued by both Cāngjié and Zhùyīn, and since I finally mustered up the courage to tackle Zhùyīn not too long ago, I thought I'd finally give Cāngjié a try.
While learning Cāngjié does require more effort than learning Pinyin or Zhuyin, it can also be really fun! Inputting 漢字/汉字 with the Cāngjié method is almost like doing a jigsaw puzzle.
The euphoria derived from figuring out and piecing together the radicals that make up a word is something that learning Jyutping (Cantonese equivalent of Pinyin), Pinyin or Zhuyin can't quite match.
And while I know I'll never be as adept with Cāngjié — my knowledge of 漢字/汉字 is nowhere near good enough to ever use Cāngjié efficiently — as I do Jyutping or Pinyin (or to some extent, Zhuyin), it'll still be fun to use Cāngjié every once in a while!
2. Helps with thinking and typing in Chinese.
The upshot of relying too much on using Jyutping/Pinyin/Zhuyin is, I'd tend to think in Roman letters or ㄅㄆㄇㄈ before I'd even think about the actual 漢字/汉字.
But with Cāngjié, because it's based on knowing radicals and joining them together to form actual characters, it'll encourage thinking of 漢字/汉字 first, so I think that would help some with 漢字/汉字 memory retention.
Now you may be thinking, why not just you know, practise actually writing then? That is the tried and proven method to better remember 漢字/汉字 after all?
Yes, of course I can do that — and am doing so occasionally — but we live in a digital age now, and the probability and opportunity to type things out is much higher than actually writing stuff by hand.
The idea here is, more looking to think of and envision characters fully in my head, and trying to lessen over-reliance on Jyutping/Pinyin/Zhuyin.
And this is where I find Cāngjié can be useful, which leads to my next point…
3. Haunted by “What if” scenario.
What if there comes a day (however improbable) where I'm presented with only a Cāngjié keyboard to use for typing Chinese? It has happened with Zhùyīn for me!
That means, no Pinyin or Zhuyin keyboards, no Handwriting tools/touchscreens to write with fingers/mouse, no speech-to-text, and no option to copy-and-paste characters from somewhere else either! What then?
4. Able to type without knowing pronunciation, and with more accuracy.
Cāngjié is shape-based. Unlike Jyutping/Pinyin/Zhuyin, where you have to know what a character sounds like before you can type it out, with Cāngjié, you can type out (again assuming no Handwriting or other tools available) characters without needing to know how to pronounce them at all.
With shape-based typing, you'd also get more accurate hits in the first few 漢字/汉字 that show up, versus sound-based methods like Pinyin where for e.g., typing out “wan” will get you a whole list under the same sound and you may have to scroll through a whole lot to get the exact “wan” you need.
You can also type both Traditional and Simplified characters without having to toggle something or switch keyboards.
So how does one begin learning Cāngjié?
Install a Cāngjié keyboard.
Tumblr media
Duh…but of course! Heh! Gboard offers one, banded under Cantonese language input (Android user here, don't know about iPhones, sorry).
There are two versions of Cāngjié that are prevalent currently. Cāngjié 3 and Cāngjié 5. Cāngjié 5 is supposed to be an improvement over version 3 but I don't find there's much; having a slightly altered version just adds to the confusion and unnecessarily complicates matters, in fact!
If you have a choice, I'd recommend selecting Cāngjié 3 as that is more supported. Some operating systems may not be too compatible with Cāngjié 5 still, for some strange reason.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You may also come across something called “Quick” (速成) aka, “Simplified Cāngjié”.
This is simply a scaled down version of Cāngjié, it's still based on Cāngjié's formula. So you still need to know how Cāngjié works in order to use “Quick” efficiently.
You'd then need a chart like this. ↓
Tumblr media
* the 重 (Z) key doesn't really come into use. I don't really know what it's for, but it seems to be used (paired with other keystrokes) mainly to type out various punctuation marks.
There are variants out there, some having a little more, or less, radicals shown than in the above example, but I'll say the chart here is one of the more comprehensive ones I've found so far (and sufficient enough) — other charts often fail to highlight the 難 (X) key and what it corresponds to.
You don't have to memorize the chart all at once. Just always have a chart like this on hand to refer to and with enough typing practise, you'll eventually remember which key corresponds with which radicals.
Remember the rules. ↓
“1 part” character (e.g. 寫) = first 3 & last (radical).
“2 parts” character (e.g. 唔龍) = first & last, first 2 & last.
“3 parts” character (e.g. 難) = first & last, first & last, last.
Tumblr media
e.g. 寫 ↓
With radicals 宀,丿,臼 (first 3) and 灬 (last).
Corresponding keys: 十,竹,難 and 火。
寫 → 写 ↓
With radicals 冖,卜,㇆ (first 3),一 (last).
Corresponding keys:月,卜,尸 and 一。
Tumblr media
e.g. 龍 ↓
With radicals 亠,月 (first & last), 卜,コ (first 2),ヒ (last).
Corresponding keys: 卜,月,卜,尸,and 心。
龍 → 龙 ↓ (Simplified 龍 → 龙,a “1 part” character)
With radicals 丶,ナ,ヒ (first 3).
Corresponding keys: 戈,大,and 心。
Tumblr media
e.g. 難 ↓
With radicals 廿,人 (first & last),亻(first & last),土 (last).
Corresponding keys: 廿,人,人 and 土。
難 → 难 ↓
With radicals ヌ (first & last),亻(first & last),土 (last).
Corresponding keys: 水,人,and 土。
Occasionally, you may get a character that looks like a “2 parts” but is actually a “3 parts”. ↓
Tumblr media Tumblr media
e.g. 唔 ↓
With radicals 口 (first & last),一,一 (first & last),口 (last).
Corresponding keys: 口,一,一 and 口。
Or looks like a “1 part” but really a “3 parts”. ↓
Tumblr media
e.g. 奪 ↓
With radicals 大 (first & last),亻,土 (first & last),丶 (last).
Corresponding keys: 大,人,土,and 戈。
奪 → 夺 ↓(Simplified 奪 → 夺,a “1 part” character)
With radicals 大,寸 (first 3; the 丶 is the 3rd component).
Corresponding keys: 大,木,and 戈。
But these are exceptions, and don't occur that often.
And you can start practising!
You can try out this pretty good app called 『五色學倉頡』 (learning Cāngjié with 5 colours), for practise. It's on Playstore, just search for “Cangjie Dictionary” and it should show up.
You have to pay to unlock higher levels, unfortunately. ↓
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, each character comes with colour coded hints and you can opt to turn them off if you like more of a challenge. There are also hints (提示) and the chart (字根表) to refer to if you're really stuck. Also has a dictionary component (查字典) to check out the Cāngjié input for characters.
Another option would be a website called HKCards. ↓
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can use it to check the Cāngjié input for any 漢字/汉字, and there's section for practise (倉頡輸入法練習) as well. After inputting your answer with Cāngjié keys (手田水口廿卜), you can click on the “Answer” (答案) button to see how right or wrong your answers were. ↓
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are 8 characters each time, and you can just hit “Practise Again” (再做練習) to refresh for another 8 to practise with. I've yet to hit a limit.
Unfortunately, this website has lots of ads popping up. And it only supports searching in Traditional characters (Cāngjié was initially catered more for Traditional).
Or you can just try practising randomly with a Cāngjié keyboard and check for mistakes with a Cāngjié dictionary (『五色學倉頡』 app's dictionary comes in really useful here — it appears to support searching in Simplified too).
TL;DR
Cāngjié could be useful (and fun) to know if your 漢字/汉字 knowledge is already adequate, and/or you just like a new challenge.
And if watching videos is more your thing, here's a really helpful YouTube tutorial on how to use Cāngjié (has English subs)!

because apparently i fucking hate myself, i felt a compulsion to try to transcribe some of Minutetech's last stream. Here's the transcript of Minutetech getting Impeached. Idk if it's all fully accurate, these fuckers love crosstalk more than life itself.
Long post, so below cut. Or on Google Docs,
Mapicc: Minutetech and I have made a bet. If I can get 14 people to oust him publicly. He will hold a reelection.
Mapicc: Right now we have 5, Baconnwaffles, Mapicc, Princezam, um, Roshambo and Jepex. THats five. I'm now going to go down the list, unmute people and if you want to say you are ousting Minute, you can now. We'll start with Wemmbu.
Wemmbu: Hello Chat, I'd like to oust Minute.
Mapicc: Okay, what does that make, 6/14? I'll unmute you now Minute, just so you can help me keep count while we go.
Minute: hello. So you're going to force them into making a decision before I can disprove the lies in that video? Is that what we're doing here?
Mapicc: I'm pretty sure we're going down the list to oust people. you can make a response afterwards, but that's kinda defeating-
Minute: That's what I just said, that you're trying to make them make a decision before I can disprove the lies in that video or what.
Roshambo: Let's do it by votes. Do you guys want to hear Minute's response or has that been enough proof?
Bacon: Jumperwho and Pentar say yes. Thank you for your input.
Mapicc: I think I'm going to go down the list and unmute people, you can make a response video on your own time, Minute. We're not gonna sit here for 30 minutes and have a debate, that's not the purpose of this vc.
Minute: Alright, I'll make a response video and see if their answers change.
Mapicc: Okay. We'll start with Poafa. Poafa do you oust Minute?
Poafa: I believe that Minutetech is an imposter, just like among us.
Mapicc: Is that a?
Poafa: I oust Minute.
Mapicc: Okay, thank you, Jesus Christ. What is that, 6 now?
Minute: 7
Mapicc: 7/14. We'll go next with Woogie. Hello Woogie, do you oust Minute?
Woogie: I like everything you've done, but I think, without a response I have to say I oust Minute.
Mapicc: 8 out of what? 14. We'll next go with Spoke.
Minute: I have a response, it's just they're not letting me say it, so. Keep that in mind.
Roshambo: Well, if you have a good response-
Spoke: Dog, can I wait till he gives a response?
Mapicc: No.
Minute: Oh! Convenient, convenient! Convenient response from Mapicc.
Zam: You can just choose to not oust him.
Bacon: Fine fine,
Zam: What do you mean? You can just choose to not oust him, I feel like, what?
Minute: He just said can we wait, and Mapicc just yapped no.
Ro?Leo?: Zam, Zam. What if we all say like 'we're not to oust him' and Minute's like 'yeah i'm not going to give a response now' That was our once chance to like, actually get him out of office
Mapicc: Okay. Fine, what would you like to say Minute?
Zam: I thought we had until next weekend?
Minute: You have until next weekend.
Mapicc: I'm allowed to ask people to oust now. But if you would like to respond, you can make a response video.
Minute: Oh, I have a response video, don't worry.
Spoke: I can change my answer?
Ro: Wait, Aren't you going to- Let's hear your response now?
Minute: I can bring up the video, I can go through it, I can bring up old recordings, I can do all that.
Mapicc: I don't want to watch you look through recordings.
Minute: Hey, I got the time, do you have the time?
Mapicc: No. Not everybody has the time, dude.
Spoke: Okay, whip up a video, whip up a video.
Mapicc: Oh my god.
Bacon: We don't have time for him to whip up a video
Mapicc: We don't have time for him to edit a video
Minute: Shall we postpone this?
Spoke: I'm going to oust him now, but like. He can drop a video, I'll just change my answer if it's fire.
Ro: Okay, so let's keep going down the list.
Mapicc: Okay, so you oust him now, right Spoke?
Spoke: Uhuh.
Mapicc: Okay, what is that 10/14?
Minute: 8, wait what? Did we?
Bacon: I'm really glad we unmuted Minute for the counting, because he's way better at this than Mapicc.
Mapicc: Okay, so 9/14. We'll go next for 4C. 4C do you oust Minute?
4CVIT: uh, my mic was muted. This is uh, this is a really interesting discussion. Like meeting, I was not prepared for this today. Um, oh my goodness, I want to hear Minute's response, and I want to talk to Minute. But for now, I'll explain later, I will oust Minute, yes.
Mapicc: And that makes? You do the counting Minute.
Minute: I believe that's 10 now right?
Mapicc: Probably. Alright, we'll go down to Reddoons. Reddoons do you oust Minute?
Reddoons: Well, my friends are saying to oust Minute, so I'm falling to peer pressure. I'm saying oust Minute, this is definitely a gaslit, peer pressure decision, definitely no other ulterior motive. Oust MinuteTech.
Mapicc: Okay, that's 11. Planetlord, do you oust Minute?
Planet: Um, hey, so, Minute, um, you know, you're a great guy and all, I can't- You don't understand this all right now but I'm sorry, I'm going to have to say yes.
Mapicc: So that's 12/14? We'll go to Spepticle. Spepticle do you oust Minute?
Spepticle: Um, hello. I don't think I can oust Minute, yeah. I don't. Yeah, that's all I'm going to say.
Mapicc: I guess I'll unmute Pentar, and I'll unmute Jumper, you guys want to say your piece? You don't oust Minute right?
Jumper: I don't.
Pentar: Would you believe me if I say that I don't oust Minute.
Mapicc: I do believe you, I do believe you. So what are we on right now? 11/14?
Minute: 12 I think.
Mapicc: 12, okay. LeoWook, this is an interesting one, do you oust Minute, LeoWook?
LeoWook: No.
Mapicc: Ok.
LeoWook: What? “this is really interesting”
Mapicc: Okay. So we have what? 11/14 right now Minute?
Minute: 12, 12, 12! Jesus, 12!
Mapicc: Okay, 12.
Mapicc: There's got to be an easier
Zam: I am shocked how many times it was counted wrong, I'm actually in shock. It's been counted wrong so many times dude.
Mapicc: You're mean to me
Zam: Bro, lock the fuck in.
Ro: We're at 12, we're at 12.
Mapicc: Okay, we're at 12. Spoke, do you want to make an announcement for people to react to, that way they can change their thing whenever they want? And the final poll will go down
Spoke: Wanna oust Minute? Reply with a checkmark if so.
Bacon: react with a checkmark
Spoke: He will be kicked and a president will be elected. Okay this is about to be the craziest-
Mapicc: How would this have worked Minute? If I did get 14 people, would we have just hosted a reelection right now or?
Minute: It would have happened at session, and then. Depending if people change their minds
Mapicc: That's interesting.
[Segment removed by Transcriber due to talking about poop]
Mapicc: I thought it was, Once you hit 14 we host a reelection then.
Minute: I said- hold on hold on hold on
Wemmbu: That aside, that aside, that aside. In your original video Minute, you said before session.
Minute: Didn't I say by session?
Mapicc: I think you said before
Minute: I said if I get 14 people to say that before session, than the next session's policy would be reelection.
Ro: So what are we at right now? 12.
Mapicc: If you just voted to oust Minute, go to the announcement and react positively, you can take your thing off if he convinces you later. But just so we have a count for right now.
Bacon: The X doesn't do anything guys, if your wondering.
Spoke: It's for like, uh,
Bacon: It's for moral support i guess.
Spoke: It's for interactions, engagements.
Mapicc: Who are we missing that hasn't reacted yet. Oh, Zam, Ro.
Ro: Oh sorry.
Poafa: Which ones which?
Mapicc: What the fuck do you mean which ones which?
Bacon: So the checkmark is for if you want him to be ousted, and the X is for. I don't know, if you want to react with an X.
Mapicc: Hold on, we need an extra reaction for the Jepex's of the community. He can just do it later.
Ro: We can just imagine it's plus one for Jepex, right?
Mapicc: Yeah, can we do 12? It counts as 12 right now Minute?
Minute: Uh, yeah. Current count is 12.
Mapicc: Hold on. This is interesting. This is a closer number than you had expected, Minute?
Minute: I figured there was a moment where it might have gotten to this.
Mapicc: Really? You expected it to hit 11?
Zam: 12!
Minute: After you guys said your response I figured some of the votes might get to this.
Mapicc: It's 11 in the reactions.
Minute: It's 12 total though
Zam: Okay, but it's 12 total though.
Mapicc: Yes, it's 12 total, i said 11 cause the thing. What the fuck are you doing Poafa?
Zam: Does our amazing current president want to come on stage and say anything?
Leo: I think Minute should defend himself
Ro: Yeah, why can't we settle this now? You do your response now.
Minute: I can do this now, it's just that I'm eventually going to have to pull up recordings to disprove a lot of what you've done.
Spoke: There's receipts
Zam: That's okay, can you do some-
Minute: I can do a start now. So what was the first part of the video? You said, um, Foundation was some lie or whatever?
Zam: Publicity stunt. It might have not started out as one, but it did become one.
Ro: I said that you, uh. The Abyss Arc, and the Presidency Arc. The presidency Arc was planned before the Abyss, and there's a screenshot.
Minute: When I say Abyss Arc and Foundation created, you know that was like back in January right, not March where you pulled the screenshot from. How can that be possible? Did I time travel?
Ro: There's screenshots from before the abyss arc, no? When was Abyss arc?
Minute: When the Abyss was created, like January.
Jumper: January 13th.
Bacon: It was before the week of Abyss, before like the Foundation-
Ro: A better landmark would be when was Foundation created?
Minute: Back in January, we have recordings Ro, why are we being so oblivious?
Jumper: January 13th
Zam: But we've had plans for an Election Arc far before um.
Minute: It started back in March, like earliest is March.
Zam: No I said further, before January-
Minute: Well after we founded Foundation was already created and we were knee deep in our goals. Right.
Zam: I'm saying before January, are you hearing me or no?
Minute: You're saying presidency was discussed before January?
Zam: It was!
Ro: I do agree with that. I recall talking about it in an airport, and that was probably traveling over winter break.
Bacon: Let's be real here also. The Foundation was not. When the Foundation was started, Minute was not like immediately active. Minute really locked in for the most part, on the Foundation when it got to like the last month. Which is at the time when-
Minute: That's not true at all, I got active on it the day the Foundation was created. Like I have recordings of this. What is this?
Zam: Did Planet and Ro move the elder guardian on the nether roof or...
Minute: I was right there with them! Hello? Oh Clown's on.
Jumper: You know Minute and I had meetings like every other day, right? Like we had so many meetings outside
Zam: You would know Jumper, you would know.
Jumper: Yeah I would, cause I have recordings of it!
Mapicc: I have something interesting. Minute, I'd like you to go to the announcements page of the discord right now.
Minute: Okay, what's going on?
Mapicc: It's currently 12 right now, we need 14 total. If anybody else, who hasn't voted yet would like to click on the react, you may now do so.
Minute: Did we not just go over this? Why are we trying to change the subject once I started disproving things?
Ro: That's 14.
Mapicc: Click on it. I think that's 14 Minute.
Minute: Okay, so by rule, if that number doesn't change or go below 14 then we'll have a reelection
Wemmbu: Nah nah nah nah nah. That is not what you said in the video.
Ro: You said before session.
Minute: If by before session we have 14 people
Wemmbu: You said before session, it's before session
Minute: Okay wait did we not just go over this right now in vc? like people have time to change their vote hello?
Wemmbu: Yes, for the session.
Minute: What are you saying? you just said people might change their minds or not
Wemmbu: Yes, you can change people's minds for when the, the election at the session.
Mapicc: You try and get reelected
Wemmbu: So now you need to do a reelection on Saturday and you can try to win that election.
Minute: If it stays at 14 yeah.
Wemmbu: No, that was not in the original video. We will quote the video
Minute: Okay okay, so did we not just talk about in VC the number could go up or down? now it's changing now you guys magically have 14?
Mapicc: Oh my God.
Zam: Minute loves twisting narratives afterwards. This is so interesting.
Ro: Minute, listen to me, listen to me. Minute, Minute, Minute, if you're arguing that it shouldn't change then why should it change from what you said in the video?
Wemmbu: Exactly.
Minute: Okay what do you say? Okay wait hold on, I didn't hear you okay what you said-
Ro: And what you said in the video is if I get 14 votes before the session on Saturday.
Minute: Look at the number now what does that mean! What? Oh now it's 15 okay fuck.
Bacon: Okay wait, I have a question, I have a question who added those extra votes? cuz it seemed like it was pretty-
Mapicc: It seemed like it was like-
Zam: Mid Mystic one as well wow,
Mapicc: I'm curious Minute, who added those votes?
Minute: Okay so now so now okay so now you cross the threshold we're going to ignore the whole conversation we just had in vc where you said the number could go up or down?
Leo: I want to say I added my vote because I think it would be kind of cool.
Minute: Oh okay.
Clown: I'm sorry, Minute. I'm not for peace. Ever. So it's just it's just a matter of disagreeing.
Ro: Oh Minute-
Mapicc: Minute, I think we should host a re-election right now. I think you said in the video, before the session-
Minute: That's not, that's not how this thing was supposed to go.
Bacon: You know we can have reelection at the-
Wemmbu: -Saturday. But we're gonna have to have-
RO: -Fine
Mapicc: Minute are you a man of democracy like you stated in all of your pitches, all of your videos? how about we take a vote on whether we should re-elect right now?
Zam: (giggly)Oh
Wemmbu: That's a really good question.
Mapicc: -That do you think of that Minute?
Minute: Can you do a server ping Spoke?
Spoke: Yeah what am I-?
Mapicc: Spoke do a server ping.
Spoke: What am I doing? Hello-
Mapicc: Just ping everyone and be like are you down to revote right now? React yes or no.
Minute: I don't know, it's just-
Wemmbu: We get a majority vote.
Minute: -this, this does feel a little hypocritical Mapicc, I have to, to say this.
Ro: How come? How so?
Mapicc: How come?
Minute: The other- I think it was yesterday, you and I had a, you and I had a, a little chat yesterday Mapicc, you said you said the presidency that I won was unfair because I had a lot of people online that I convinced that was the good guy is this not the same thing but on your end?
Mapicc: Um what if I told you I wasn't running for president.
Minute: You aren't running?
Mapicc: I'm not running.
Ro: He's not running.
Minute: Is someone on your team running?
Mapicc: Everybody react.
Ro: No I'm not running, Zam's not running.
Zam: I'm- I have no plans of running, yeah, uh, no.
Mapicc: Who punched me? That's not cool.
Poafa?: Spepticle.
Leo: I'm gonna run for President!
Mapicc: Uhoh! LeoWook's going to run for president. If you haven't reacted go check announcements now and react.
Leo: One time on my brother's SMP I ran for president and didn't get elected so this, like this, would be like Vengeance for them.
Clown: Oh Redemption, yes.
Leo: Yeah, Redemption.
Zam: Like the LeoWook.
Leo: Yeah.
Mapicc: And, that's that's that's not- that's a ClownPierce drawing okay
Clown: ClownPierce! Sorry, I love that drawing.
Mapicc: If you haven't reacted- There's more than 13 people in the VC so either react yeah or no please. Just so we like, know everybody is like locked in. okay.
Wemmbu: Oh
Mapicc: So Minute it's hit a majority.
Minute: So be it. It's a democracy.
Leo: Oh boy, Minute's no longer President.
Ro: It's time for a reelection
Mapicc: It's time for a reelection.

I love your approach to worldbuilding and the thought and effort you put into it! (I was looking at your land-locked sea/lake on the maps and wondering if it was freshwater or salty, and then ofc you explain underneath lol) GIS must be an amazing tool for this sort of thing.
it sure is but unfortunately i can only use it to do boring maps of real places (booo). to be clear i drew those in procreate but i did load up arcGIS for the bathymetry lines so i'd know where the coast goes (roughly. i did freak it a little for the bays and headlands for some visual interest)
but yea the lough was saltwater once upon a time, with a much lower volume within that basin, but thousands of years of freshwater input from runoff, groundwater, and precipitation and so on ended up filling the basin the rest of the way with freshwater. it is still just a teensy bit more saline than your average freshwater lake but not enough to classify as brackish water. a bit like lake baikal it has its own hyperspecialised communities of animals including some porpoises that have grown weird over time due to genetic bottlenecking & drift, and exposure to ambient magic
this is the lake i'm constantly talking about in the captions of all my other posts
edit: i'll answer this one here as well just so i'm not spamming
Tumblr media
@shipfishwrites i use a fossit guide to habitats which is freely downloadable from our department of parks and wildlife, it's something i've used while doing fieldwork to identify habitats by what species i can see so i have a pretty good sense of what goes where. all of the forest "types" on the map are defined habitats in that guide. in general, woodland follows north-south and wet-dry gradients (this is REALLY broad and rough). further north, more conifers. further south, more deciduous, and more wetland trees. close to the lake, more wetland - willow-alder-ash forest on the floodplain before it turns into bog or swamp. medium-damp is wet pedunculate oak, then the drier regions are oak-ash-hazel. yew forests are scattered around and very rare.
the lakes depend on subsoil type and bedrock, so in the south we got bogs, a peat-forming wetland type which is acidic. the bedrock is sandstone and granite. so the water that runs off the land into the lake and the rivers has a lower pH because there's no alkaline soil/bedrock leaching into the water. in the north the bedrock is limestone, turns the water slightly alkaline, so the lakes are limestone marl lakes

hiii!! omg thank you so much for supporting my child 🥰 hahaha i think you’re always a snz writer even if you haven’t posted in a while!! if you’ve experienced the epic highs and lows of writing your own snzfic you know the pains and the joys 🙃 and ms ma’am even if it was only for a moment in time you went off!! (and it was wonderful)
anyways you know i always love to see your thoughts so here are my questions for you if you’d like!
🥳💌💋😎!
omg hii!!~ <3333 ofc i support it!~ it's an amazing list girl!!!~ and agahgahgh- >-< thank you!~ I did have a blast, and honestly might be trying to slip back into it here and there~
Thank you for the questions! I'll answer one, then stick the rest under a cut so I don't flood the feed with all my words~
🥳 Do you read your writing after you’ve posted it?
At the beginning I might scan/read it once to make sure everything formatted/copied over right, and there's no obvious typos, but after that I do tend to go back now and then when I want to remember what plot I used, or spellings, that kinda thing! Overall I don't usually read it in the 'what a meal' mentality, though if it's been long enough sometimes I can disassociate from it being my writing, and just enjoy it~
💌 Do you prefer to write from the perspective of the snz/sick person or the caretaker? Do you see yourself as one or the other?
I'm gonna give such a cop out answer and say both ToT but hear me out!!! I will explain in a way i hope still gives an answer!! so, for the sake of getting a full experience, i find it easier to write from the snz/sick person, since it's easier to explain how they feel and their symptom progression and such. however!!!! honestly i would always see myself in the caretaker position if i was picking, so i sometimes find that pov a lot easier to write?? feelings wise and such
💋 Do you like to get feedback midway through, or do you hoard your drafts until they're complete? / Do you typically feel comfortable sharing your wips with other people?
Okay so- I don't think... I've more than maybe twice, shared any drafts..? I don't really have people I would share it with inherently, but also I think I'd just feel so exposed ToT like, vulnerable, going here's this unfinished thing, witness my imperfections' aguagh idk- Though!! I will say, I do really appreciate input on plot and ideas and 'oh this spelling could work', at least in theory ToT again, don't really have people i've done that with, but i think as long as it feels a lot more like brainstorming together, I really enjoy it!!! but feedback/edits on a thing I'm still drafting (even my own at times-) stresses me out a bit aha~
😎 How long do you wait to post fics you’ve completed? Do you post them immediately? Do you want a few days?
Normally, when it's any sort of request, no time. If I manage to sit down and hammer it all out in one go, I'll usually edit once, read it over to make sure it flows well, then just go ahead and post it! Ones that are more for my own sake, if I finish them and are happy, I'll just post them before I can sit on it too long and lose the motivation to post or ability to see it for anything other than it's imperfections~

WIP Wednesday
Thank you both for the tag, @melisusthewee and @scribbledquillz and @shivunin (check the irony, I was editing this post and you tagged me too, and it's... On theme with yours, LOL)! :D
Ok, so... Something I jolted and I sincerely don't know if I'll ever finish, so take it as you wish. It's... gloomy and she's not in a good mental space and I kinda don't know where to go from there, any input is welcomed.
Because you see, I saw this post and could see Aisling getting outraged and marching in to just... Correct him because not on her watch. And the angsty AU came back.
Tagging: @ndostairlyrium @daggerbean @oxygenforthewicked @whimsyswastry @zenstrike @idolsgf (feel free to ignore it of course!)
The Patron Saint of the Lost Causes. (.)
Nightmares still plagued her, and it didn’t matter if she was constantly surrounded by people. People who were kind to her, people who professed friendship. Aisling Lavellan had closed her heart many years ago, and the very idea of opening up and being thrown in the gutter yet again was just not appealing anymore.
Day after day, little changed. Wake up screaming from nightmares, calm yourself down, ask Cole to get down the bed and out of her room, remind him that it’s not polite to enter rooms uninvited. Fingers touching in a practiced rhythm, meditate until sunrise. Garden, stables, breakfast and War Council. Lunch with Cullen, library with Dorian, library with Solas and Radha. Tea with nobles, dinner in the Dining Hall, back to her room to read and wait for exhaustion to catch her. Rinse and repeat.
Nothing really mattered, nothing had really mattered in a long time, she hadn’t allowed it to matter not to get hurt again. It was comfortable enough living in lukewarm, still water, nothing bad can happen if you don’t give it the chance.
But now, walking past Bonny’s stall and coming to look at the paddock, something old stirred in her. She hated it. And felt the water starting to move, breath back with the tide.
Having Fenris in the Keep cause a wave. Having talked with him after Adamant caused more. Knowing she had his heart from the start and… Their life came in between. Knowing she still had him if she wanted. The water started to move with the tide.
There he was, lean and wiry with muscle, on top of a horse, in the centre of the paddock. Horse-riding practice was free for everyone, she had insisted that everyone travelling with her, inner circle, scouts and soldiers alike should be well-acquainted with horses but… She debated whether to run back and hide in her room, avoid him, keep the water still. It would be better. It would be kinder for the both of them, not dragging at old and new wounds. Cut the bridge for good, don’t linger.
And yet, he was there.
And his legs were straight on the sides of the saddle, unnoticed by Dennet concentrated on other riders. The stirrups were too long, forcing his legs to stay perfectly straight at the side of the horse.
He always had been a terrible rider, even in the clan. He never learnt in those years, that much was clear.
And that poor horse. She couldn't stand to look a poor horse dealing with unnecessary discomfort, could he?
Once, she mocked him constantly for his scarce ability, and he mocked her lack of physical strength or naivete. Ages ago, it felt like she was a different person.
And yet, the tide came in and she was still the same person. More guarded, more scared, but… But she was also the Inquisitor, and the Inquisitor didn’t hesitate. She moved almost out of her own will, bending her back and swaying inside the paddock with a purpose, back straight and coming right to his foot. He saw her coming, she didn’t need to look to know, and if he was surprised, he didn’t say anything of it. She pushed his foot out of the stirrup, and began to work on the belt that kept it connected to the saddle. A horrible wooden one, she noticed with a snort.
“If you’re standing on the stirrups, you’ll hurt the horse and you’ll fall in the first ten minutes at best.”
She explained, pushing his foot back in the stirrup by his ankle once to try if the length was good. Better than before, but it was too short now, she didn’t really remember how much taller than her he was.
“Yes, Inquisitor.”
Fenris replied, letting her work and following her movement. She tried not to notice how comfortable it was that they still knew how to move around the other so well, that she needn’t speak for him to understand what she wanted. Beside Radha, she had to speak with everyone, those days, and some silent company felt like a blessing. A very melancholic blessing. One leg done, she turned behind the horse to reach the other.
“Shouldn’t you avoid the horse’s back?” He asked.
“Yes, if you’re a newbie.”
Aisling found his right foot already out of the stirrup. Fixing the second was quicker, the measure already known. That she still pushed to move his foot into the metal, carefully, was absolutely nothing to worry about. A small indulgence out of professionality.
“And keep your back straight, you’re not a shrimp.”
“Takes one to know one.”
She peeked up just to see his lip cracks in a smile, as he looked down and met her eyes. She could touch the melancholy in his eyes, she shared it. She shouldn’t indulge she should run right back and keep away, give the both of them time. She helped him because it was kind, and she didn’t want him to fall from horseback, she would have done the same for anyone, it was nothing special. And yet, being there brought her back to years before, to back when she was just Aisling and carefree, and they bickered as if it was second nature. It was soothing in a way, it smelled of normality, and it was almost oxymoric. She never thought things could be normal with him again.
A step back, a grin, and she packed the horse’s bottom, enough to make the horse neigh and start to run.
“Always look forward, Broody.”
She smiled as he snapped forward, cursing in Tevene as he tried to stay on top of the horse and regain control. It felt good, even if it was sad. But sadness was her constant companion, and she walked beside it like an old friend.
Maybe she could do this. Maybe she could let go.
Maybe letting down a brick of two was ok, and they could return to being friends.

I would still consider video editing my hobby and occasionally I do really enjoy it. when you edit for a long period of time and you're the only person fine tuning it, making transitions and rewatching it 90 times over and over again to input new scenes or subtitles or effects it's really easy to find that specific video boring. every time I finish a video I'm like bro? that shit is so bad... just because I would've spent at least a full week or more repeatedly LOOKING at it. which is why I often get burnt out quickly because I'm so finicky with what I want immortalized. every so often I'll go back and rewatch my videos and objectively I can say I enjoy it because I haven't seen them in a while that I can truly anticipate what I have included and what I thought was important enough to remember. I rewatched my hocks videos the other day and shat myself because I thought it was so funny, and realistically at the moment where I was continuously editing it? I probably didn't giggle even once. this is also the reason why I still put so much time and effort into whatever I post, not because I'm expecting a majority of people to watch it but because when I watch it in the future I don't wanna be like damn girl? that was SLOPPY craftsmanship. I would want to be proud of what I've released maybe years from now and look back on it with fondness rather than not

2, 7, 8, 13, 17, 27, 30, 37 and 55 for the fic writer ask game!
Thank you so much!!
Get To Know Your Fic Writer!
2, 8, and 13 I've answered previously! Here are the rest:
7. How do you choose which POV to write from?
Most of the time, it just sort of feels right. I've tried to write Rae's POV in third person here and there, but it just doesn't flow the same way it does when I write it in first person. I think on a technical level it's about the tone of the story and how internal or external the voice needs to be, but really it just depends on how the writing flows for me.
17. What do you do when writing becomes difficult? (maybe a lack of inspiration or writers block)
In the short term, I'll take my dogs for a walk. It gives me a chance away from the cognitive input, no screens, no distractions, just a chance to look at what's around me and let my mind wander. It helps me sort out tricky knots all the time!
In the longer term, I pick up a new book or two. I think of it as "recharging" my words, and diving into a good book is a great way to get the writing flowing after it's been stuck for a while.
27. What is your most and least favorite part of writing?
My favorite part is when I really fall into a scene I love, and it all just flows. Sometimes the scenes are so vivid it's like I'm watching a movie in my head, with distinct shots and camera angles and whatever else, and it's the best feeling when I'm able to match that pace getting it down on the page.
My least favorite part isn't even really about the writing itself - it's the waiting game after posting a new fic or chapter, hoping that people will see it, like it, and maybe leave me a comment or to. There's nothing more disheartening than posting something you worked really hard on and having it met with absolute radio silence, or having a friend promise to read one of your fics and then just putting it off... and off... and off. I know that sounds a little self-centered of me to say, and I don't mean it like that, I just really want people to share my excitement about the story.
30. Do you share rough drafts or do you wait until it’s all polished?
I don't usually share rough drafts because I don't really have rough drafts. I have the outline of where the fic will go, but I write and post each chapter as I go. And even in the timeline of an individual chapter, it's really just a single draft - getting the words on the page, a couple rereads and quick grammar/clarity edits, but then it's good to go.
37. How do you choose where to end a chapter?
I usually plan out what all I'm going to cover in that chapter (I outline each chapter after finishing the prior one) and find a way to wrap it up once I've met those goals. Or, if I'm struggling to find where to end it, I try to assess whether the issue is that I have too much or not enough, and either add a scene or pare down what I've written until I can find that flow again.
55. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?
Of the canon characters, my favorite will always have to be Angel (Warren Worthington III). He's so incredibly close to my heart in so many ways, and writing him is really cathartic - and also just really fun! This hasn't really been swayed at all: there are more characters I enjoy writing now, but he's been my top favorite since the beginning
Of my OCs, they're all fun in their own ways, but I think my top favorite is Quinn. She's got so much personality, her struggles echo my own in a really cathartic/comforting way, and the scenes just really flow when I write her. But that favorite bounces around a lot - depends on what I'm writing, what stage/chapter I'm at in the story, and what my friends have been reading of mine.

Help Wanted=
Genuinely-- Can someone who likes Shinra Kishitani as a character please sell me on his character. I need infectious enthusiasm, lay it on me. I struggle with how to write characters that I don't know that well and could use the input.
This is an open ended invitation. Reply, reblog, submit your thesis, small thoughts, big thoughts, headcanons, etc. Thanks.

OM! Characters & (MBTI) Personality Types
* What can I say I'm bored
* I'm doing this the same way I write fic/dialogue - so yes I'm going to take the test 11 times (+ 1 for general MC) and post the results
* It obviously won't be 100% accurate but it'll be more accurate than if I just guessed
* I'll add 3-5 directly lifted notable passages from their intro description for each character/personality that I think fit them well
* Because of this, even though the passages aren't that big, this will be LONG so feel free to just skim through the results. Though the descriptions & how well they fit the characters are interesting
* I wanted to add direct examples from canon for each passage but figured it'd be way too long then
* Quick reminder that "introverted" doesn't mean shy nor does it necessarily mean that the person doesn't like being around others. It's just that they have a lower threshold for social interaction
Edit: Disclaimer:
Yes Ik the test isn't valid and that people can't be categorised into sets like this. This was all done for fun and not to be taken seriously💀 Pls take it as seriously as if I was trying to categorise them into "what type of cookie they are"✌🏼
☆ YO! Mammon's one really said "keep this bitch away from credit cards"💀
1. Lucifer - Architect (INTJ-A)
• These personalities can be both the boldest of dreamers and the bitterest of pessimists. Architects believe that, through willpower and intelligence, they can achieve even the most challenging of goals. But they may be cynical about human nature more generally, assuming that most people are lazy, unimaginative, or simply doomed to mediocrity.
• Architects can be single-minded, with little patience for frivolity, distractions, or idle gossip. That said, it would be a mistake to stereotype these personalities as dull or humorless. Many Architects are known for their irreverent wit, and beneath their serious exteriors, they often have a sharp, delightfully sarcastic sense of humor.
• This personality type comes with a strong independent streak. Architects don’t mind acting alone, perhaps because they don’t like waiting around for others to catch up with them. They also generally feel comfortable making decisions without asking for anyone else’s input. At times, this lone-wolf behavior can come across as insensitive, as it fails to take into consideration other people’s thoughts, desires, and plans.
• This personality type is full of contradictions. Architects are imaginative yet decisive, ambitious yet private, and curious yet focused. From the outside, these contradictions may seem baffling, but they make perfect sense once you understand the inner workings of the Architect mind.
• For Architects, life is like a giant game of chess. Relying on strategy rather than chance, they contemplate the strengths and weaknesses of each move before they make it. And they never lose faith that, with enough ingenuity and insight, they can find a way to win – no matter what challenges might arise along the way.
2. Mammon - Entertainer (ESFP-T)
• Entertainers love the spotlight, and all the world’s a stage. Many famous people with the Entertainer personality type are indeed actors, but they love putting on a show for their friends too, chatting with a unique and earthy wit, soaking up attention and making every outing feel a bit like a party. Utterly social, Entertainers enjoy the simplest things, and there’s no greater joy for them than just having fun with a good group of friends.
• Though it may not always seem like it, Entertainers know that it’s not all about them – they are observant, and very sensitive to others’ emotions. People with this personality type are often the first to help someone talk out a challenging problem, happily providing emotional support and practical advice. However, if the problem is about them, Entertainers are more likely to avoid a conflict altogether than to address it head-on. Entertainers usually love a little drama and passion, but not so much when they are the focus of the criticisms it can bring.
• The biggest challenge Entertainers face is that they are often so focused on immediate pleasures that they neglect the duties and responsibilities that make those luxuries possible. Complex analysis, repetitive tasks, and matching statistics to real consequences are not easy activities for Entertainers. They’d rather rely on luck or opportunity, or simply ask for help from their extensive circle of friends.
• Entertainers recognize value and quality, which on its own is a fine trait. In combination with their tendency to be poor planners though, this can cause them to live beyond their means, and credit cards are especially dangerous. More focused on leaping at opportunities than in planning out long-term goals, Entertainers may find that their inattentiveness has made some activities unaffordable.
3. Levi - Mediator (INFP-T)
[ so I cheated on this one... When I first did this I got INTP but the description didn't fit Levi at all and it would make more sense if Levi got "Feeling" over "Thinking". He got INTP cause of all the "understanding of other peoples' emotions" questions. I think he'd understand them but his own self hatred would make his problems seem much more severe so he won't always be empathetic...but because that didn't fit I just switched it.. It's still less accurate than everyone else's but it fits better now ]
• Although they may seem quiet or unassuming, Mediators (INFPs) have vibrant, passionate inner lives. Creative and imaginative, they happily lose themselves in daydreams, inventing all sorts of stories and conversations in their minds. These personalities are known for their sensitivity – Mediators can have profound emotional responses to music, art, nature, and the people around them.
• For Mediators, an ideal relationship of any kind is one in which both people feel comfortable sharing not just their wildest hopes and dreams but also their secret fears and vulnerabilities.
• Through these imaginative landscapes, Mediators can explore their own inner nature as well as their place in the world. While this is a beautiful trait, these personalities sometimes show a tendency to daydream and fantasize rather than take action.
• People with this personality type tend to feel directionless or stuck until they connect with a sense of purpose for their lives.
4. Satan - Commander (ENTJ-A)
• Commanders are natural-born leaders. People with this personality type embody the gifts of charisma and confidence, and project authority in a way that draws crowds together behind a common goal. However, Commanders are also characterized by an often ruthless level of rationality, using their drive, determination and sharp minds to achieve whatever end they’ve set for themselves.
• If there’s anything Commanders love, it’s a good challenge, big or small, and they firmly believe that given enough time and resources, they can achieve any goal.
• At the negotiating table, be it in a corporate environment or buying a car, Commanders are dominant, relentless, and unforgiving. This isn’t because they are coldhearted or vicious per se – it’s more that Commander personalities genuinely enjoy the challenge, the battle of wits, the repartee that comes from this environment, and if the other side can’t keep up, that’s no reason for Commanders to fold on their own core tenet of ultimate victory.
• If there’s anyone Commanders respect, it’s someone who is able to stand up to them intellectually, who is able to act with a precision and quality equal to their own. Commander personalities have a particular skill in recognizing the talents of others, and this helps in both their team-building efforts (since no one, no matter how brilliant, can do everything alone), and to keep Commanders from displaying too much arrogance and condescension. However, they also have a particular skill in calling out others’ failures with a chilling degree of insensitivity, and this is where Commanders really start to run into trouble.
5. Asmo - Entrepreneur (ESTP-A)
• Entrepreneurs always have an impact on their immediate surroundings – the best way to spot them at a party is to look for the whirling eddy of people flitting about them as they move from group to group. Laughing and entertaining with a blunt and earthy humor, Entrepreneur personalities love to be the center of attention.
• Entrepreneurs are the likeliest personality type to make a lifestyle of risky behavior. They live in the moment and dive into the action – they are the eye of the storm. People with the Entrepreneur personality type enjoy drama, passion, and pleasure, not for emotional thrills, but because it’s so stimulating to their logical minds.
• Entrepreneurs have a unique skill in noticing small changes. Whether a shift in facial expression, a new clothing style, or a broken habit, people with this personality type pick up on hidden thoughts and motives where most types would be lucky to pick up anything specific at all. Entrepreneurs use these observations immediately, calling out the change and asking questions, often with little regard for sensitivity. Entrepreneurs should remember that not everyone wants their secrets and decisions broadcast.
• Entrepreneurs are full of passion and energy, complemented by a rational, if sometimes distracted, mind.
6. Beel - Defender (ISFJ-A)
• Though sensitive, Defenders have excellent analytical abilities; though reserved, they have well-developed people skills and robust social relationships; and though they are generally a conservative type, Defenders are often receptive to change and new ideas.
• Naturally social, an odd quality for Introverts, Defenders utilize excellent memories not to retain data and trivia, but to remember people, and details about their lives.
• Defender personalities are a wonderful group, rarely sitting idle while a worthy cause remains unfinished. Defenders’ ability to connect with others on an intimate level is unrivaled among Introverts, and the joy they experience in using those connections to maintain a supportive, happy family is a gift for everyone involved. They may never be truly comfortable in the spotlight, and may feel guilty taking due credit for team efforts, but if they can ensure that their efforts are recognized, Defenders are likely to feel a level of satisfaction in what they do that many other personality types can only dream of.
7. Belphie - Logician (INTP-A)
[ this one might seem farfetched but keep in mind when you take away his sin Belphie is naturally curious, incredibly smart & adventurous ]
• Logicians often lose themselves in thought – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. People with this personality type hardly ever stop thinking. From the moment they wake up, their minds buzz with ideas, questions, and insights. At times, they may even find themselves conducting full-fledged debates in their own heads.
• From the outside, Logicians may seem to live in a never-ending daydream. They have a reputation for being pensive, detached, and a bit reserved. That is, until they try to train all of their mental energy on the moment or the person at hand, which can be a bit uncomfortable for everyone.
• But it would be a mistake to think that Logicians are unfriendly or uptight. When they connect with someone who can match their mental energy, these personalities absolutely light up, leaping from one thought to another. Few things energize them like the opportunity to swap ideas or enjoy a lively debate with another curious, inquiring soul.
• Logicians could spend all day musing about ideas and possibilities – and they often do. That said, the practical, everyday work of turning those ideas into reality doesn’t always hold their interest.
8. Diavolo - Campaigner (ENFP-A)
[ I think I got "prospecting" instead of "judging" like you'd expect because despite his position Diavolo always seems to be trying to weasel his way out of work, with Lucifer & Barbatos being the ones forcing him into a schedule. So I answered the questions as if he wasn't facing that outside force ]
• Campaigners (ENFPs) are true free spirits – outgoing, openhearted, and open-minded. With their lively, upbeat approach to life, they stand out in any crowd. But even though they can be the life of the party, Campaigners don’t just care about having a good time. These personality types run deep – as does their longing for meaningful, emotional connections with other people.
• In their unique way, Campaigners can be quite introspective. They can’t help but ponder the deeper meaning and significance of life – even when they should be paying attention to something else. These personalities believe that everything – and everyone – is connected, and they live for the glimmers of insight that they can gain into these connections.
• Campaigners are proof that seeking out life’s joys and pleasures isn’t the same as being shallow. Seemingly in the blink of an eye, people with this personality type can transform from impassioned idealists to carefree figures on the dance floor.
• Even in moments of fun, Campaigners want to connect emotionally with others. Few things matter more to these personality types than having genuine, heartfelt conversations with the people they cherish. Campaigners believe that everyone deserves to express their feelings, and their empathy and warmth create spaces where even the most timid spirits can feel comfortable opening up.
9. Barbatos - Logistician (ISTJ-A)
• Logisticians don’t make many assumptions, preferring instead to analyze their surroundings, check their facts and arrive at practical courses of action. Logistician personalities are no-nonsense, and when they’ve made a decision, they will relay the facts necessary to achieve their goal, expecting others to grasp the situation immediately and take action.
• This sense of personal integrity is core to Logisticians, and goes beyond their own minds – Logistician personalities adhere to established rules and guidelines regardless of cost, reporting their own mistakes and telling the truth even when the consequences for doing so could be disastrous. To Logisticians, honesty is far more important than emotional considerations, and their blunt approach leaves others with the false impression that Logisticians are cold, or even robotic. People with this type may struggle to express emotion or affection outwardly, but the suggestion that they don’t feel, or worse have no personality at all, is deeply hurtful.
• Logisticians need to remember to take care of themselves – their stubborn dedication to stability and efficiency can compromise those goals in the long term as others lean ever-harder on them, creating an emotional strain that can go unexpressed for years, only finally coming out after it’s too late to fix.
10. Simeon - Advocate (INFJ-A)
• Advocates’ unique combination of personality traits makes them complex and quite versatile. For example, Advocates can speak with great passion and conviction, especially when standing up for their ideals. At other times, however, they may choose to be soft-spoken and understated, preferring to keep the peace rather than challenge others.
• Advocates generally strive to do what’s right – and they want to help create a world where others do the right thing as well. People with this personality type may feel called to use their strengths – including creativity, imagination, and sensitivity – to uplift others and spread compassion.
• Advocates may be reserved, but they communicate in a way that is warm and sensitive. This emotional honesty and insight can make a powerful impression on the people around them.
• At times, Advocates may focus so intently on their ideals that they don’t take care of themselves. Advocates may feel that they aren’t allowed to rest until they’ve achieved their unique vision of success, but this mindset can lead to stress and burnout. If this happens, people with this personality type may find themselves feeling uncharacteristically ill-tempered.
11. Solomon - Virtuoso (ISTP-A)
[ I wasn't sure how Solomon's work ethic would be but he seems chaotic enough when doing experiments that I figured he doesn't have a strict schedule ]
• Virtuosos love to explore with their hands and their eyes, touching and examining the world around them with cool rationalism and spirited curiosity. People with this personality type are natural Makers, moving from project to project, building the useful and the superfluous for the fun of it, and learning from their environment as they go.
• Virtuosos explore ideas through creating, troubleshooting, trial and error and first-hand experience. They enjoy having other people take an interest in their projects and sometimes don’t even mind them getting into their space. Of course, that’s on the condition that those people don’t interfere with Virtuosos’ principles and freedom, and they’ll need to be open to Virtuosos returning the interest in kind. Virtuosos enjoy lending a hand and sharing their experience, especially with the people they care about.
• Virtuosos are actually quite enigmatic. Friendly but very private, calm but suddenly spontaneous, extremely curious but unable to stay focused on formal studies, Virtuoso personalities can be a challenge to predict, even by their friends and loved ones. Virtuosos can seem very loyal and steady for a while, but they tend to build up a store of impulsive energy that explodes without warning, taking their interests in bold new directions.
• Virtuosos’ decisions stem from a sense of practical realism, and at their heart is a strong sense of direct fairness, a “do unto others” attitude, which really helps to explain many of Virtuosos’ puzzling traits. Instead of being overly cautious though, avoiding stepping on toes in order to avoid having their toes stepped on, Virtuosos are likely to go too far, accepting likewise retaliation, good or bad, as fair play.
12. MC - Protagonist (ENFJ-A)
• Thoughtful and idealistic, these personality types strive to have a positive impact on other people and the world around them. They rarely shy away from an opportunity to do the right thing, even when doing so is far from easy.
• Their passion and charisma allow them to inspire others not just in their careers but in every arena of their lives, including their relationships. Few things bring Protagonists a deeper sense of joy and fulfillment than guiding friends and loved ones to grow into their best selves.
• These personality types have an uncanny ability to pick up on people’s underlying motivations and beliefs. At times, they may not even understand how they come to grasp another person’s mind and heart so quickly. These flashes of insight can make Protagonists incredibly persuasive and inspiring communicators.
• When Protagonists care about someone, they want to help solve that person’s problems – sometimes at any cost. The good news is that many people are grateful for Protagonists’ assistance and advice. After all, there’s a reason that these personalities have a reputation for helping others improve their lives.

Summary: It's time for the next rescue mission and Sam knows exactly who he wants to get next, in spite of Ian's objections.
Word Count: Ch 7 - 896
A/N: This is *mostly* unbeta'd but I hope to have it properly edited before I post it on AO3. I'll be posting all 7 chapters on Tumblr for as long as September 1st lasts around the world and on AO3 later. The reason it's going up on Sept 1st is because it is the only day that the Sam Wilson Bingo overlaps with Samtember :-)
Chapter 7
"Well," said Boothby. "Who do you want to get next?"
Sam swung around, trying very hard not to show his disgruntlement. Fury hadn't even said thank you!
"Gimme a look at that list."
Boothby put the list up on the largest screen he had and they both bent forward to examine it. Sam chose a name almost immediately.
“Him,” he said. “I’m gonna go get him.”
“Are you sure? I’d prefer it if you brought Jane or Darcy back to help me with the Quantum Tunnel.”
“Then I’ll get them next but he can help with the rescuing, which means we’ll get people back twice as fast.”
Boothby input the coordinates and Sam climbed to the steps to the platform. Halfway up he remembered something and paused.
“Hey, could you hear me on the comms while I was out there?”
“What?” Boothby turned from the screen and blinked at him. “Oh, that. Yes, we could hear you but I don’t know why you couldn’t hear us. Lieutenant Torres is working on the problem but he suspects it might have been Hogwarts magical field interfering with the tech?” He paused for a moment. “Now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d say,” he finished.
Sam nodded. “I guess we’ll find out this time.”
“Yes, I suppose we will. Ready?”
Sam activated the suit.
“Ready.”
The floor disappeared, Sam flew, and once again landed on thick grass.
“You know, I was really hoping you weren’t gonna show up,” a familiar voice said behind him.
“Well, I did think about just leaving you here but then I thought about how much I’d miss annoying your ass,” Sam said, turning around with a relieved smile on his face.
Bucky Barnes was sitting in a garden at the front of a small hill with a tiny round door in it. He had a long pipe in one hand and what looked like a small bucket masquerading as a cup in the other. Next to him, a small table bore a plate of the biggest and most delicious sandwiches Sam had ever seen.
His stomach gurgled and he realised he hadn’t had anything to eat since leaving the charity ball.
“You look hungry,” Bucky said. “Sandwich?”
Sam practically fell over the gate in his haste to reach the food. Mouth full, he sank into the chair next to Bucky.
“Oh man, this is so good,” he said once his mouth was empty enough to form words.
“I’ll get you something to wash it down,” said Bucky, heaving himself out of the chair and squeezing in through the tiny door. Sam didn’t reply, too busy chewing on another mouthful of sandwich. By the time Bucky returned, he was onto his second.
“Here, try this.” Bucky handed Sam one of the bucket cups. It was brimming with foamy ale and Sam drank eagerly.
“It’s good, huh?”
“I’ve never tasted anything like it,” Sam declared.
“I don’t suppose I can convince you to leave me here?”
Sam drained his bucket and burped loudly. “Man, I wish I could, but we need you.”
“Are you sure about that? Can’t you just tell ‘em I was shipwrecked or something? Tell ‘em you couldn’t find me!”
“Sorry, man. No can do.” Sam put the empty bucket on the table, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees as he studied the vista in front of them. Bucky’s hidey hole overlooked a wide, shallow valley, filled with fields, trees, numerous hilly mounds - each with it’s own little round door - and several streams flowing down to join a river winding through the valley floor. There were people scattered here and there, made tiny by the distance- no, Sam realised, watching one of the figures walking along the road towards them. They were just… small.
“Buck - where are we?” he asked.
“Hobbiton,” Bucky replied, and a smoke ring floated past Sam’s head.
“Damn. First Hogwarts, then The Shire? I am having a good day.”
“You were at Hogwarts?” Bucky asked, surprise clear in his voice.
“Ahuh. Fury was a ghost. Had his head nearly chopped off.”
There was a pause.
“So… he was Nearly Headless Nick?”
“Godamnit.”
“I’m a Brandybuck here,” Bucky said. “Jimmy Brandybuck. Adopted apparently.”
Sam snorted. “Well you are a little tall for a hobbit.”
There was another pause before Sam confessed, “Kids at Hogwarts called me Professor Falcon.”
They sat in companionable silence for several minutes before Bucky spoke again.
“How long have we got?”
Sam glanced at the chronometer on the Time-Space GPS strapped to his wrist.
“About a half hour.” He turned his head to look at his friend. “How long have you been here for?”
“Not long enough. You want more ale?”
“Oh, hell yes. You got any more of those sandwiches?”
Bucky shook his head. “Nah, that was all of them, but I got a pie.”
Bucky brought out the pie and more ale, and they sat in the afternoon sun. Several hobbits passed by, all of them greeting Bucky - no, Jimmy - as they went past, and to Sam’s surprise, a couple of them also greeted him as if they knew him.
Eventually the GPS beeped it’s five minute warning. Bucky cleared all the dishes inside before rejoining Sam in the garden. Together they activated the Tech Suits and as the GPS screamed it’s warning, the ground fell away beneath their feet.

Daily Blog #15: August 22, 2021
Dollar Tree is honestly pretty fucking awesome 👌👌👌
I set my alarm for like 6:25 this morning, but it took 6 minutes for the "Horsin' Around" theme song instrumental to wake me up. I was pretty tired lol. I just dismissed it and went back to sleep.
I only went back to sleep because I knew I had another alarm set for 7:00. That got me up.
I should mention that this was still in the RV over an hour away from the house.
After I got up, I went to go get a shower, and did so successfully.
Unfortunately, I had forgotten my brush this time and had to do it afterwards after my hair had a bit of time to dry, which did make it a little more difficult lol.
I got dressed and grabbed my stuff, putting it into my car.
I made it a point to see and say "see you later" to my grandparents before I left for the flea market.
My dad insisted that I stayed to say goodbye to my mom, so I left.
I did NOT have cell service up there, as was mentioned in my previous 2 blogs of which I could only post today, so finding my way was a tiny bit difficult until I got some service to ask Google to take me to "...".
It worked and I got there.
On my drive, I listened to 1 by Simple Kid, a CD I had previously purchased at a Dollar Tree location.
I got a call from the guy at the flea market saying that I had some people there waiting for me. He asked how far away I was, to which I said "about 10 minutes." Ironically, that call made me miss my exit, as Google couldn't talk during the call, and added about 3 minutes to my arrival time lmao.
I did sell the Xbox that he said someone was interested in. I got $40 for it. I spent 27¢ on it. Pretty good return if you ask me.
I couldn't sell it with anything other than a power cord because the controller and AV cables I had been using to play it there were for my personal console. I'm just glad I can actually hook my Xbox up and stop having to drag them to the flea market along with a small library of games.
Not too long after I sold the Xbox, someone came in and asked if I wanted to see some electronics he had in his car. I went out with him. It was a pair of 3ft speakers and a Pioneer audio system with dual cassette decks (although neither of them works) and a 25 Disc CD-changer, as well as the standard AM/FM tuner. Additionally, there was a Fisher amplifier and AM/FM tuner as well as a Fisher Direct Drive turntable. He said he wanted $60 for em, but before that he casually, and probably accidentally, dropped that he was just gonna take em to the thrift store.
Big mistake.
I got em for $35 lmao. THERE GOES MOST OF MY PROFIT.
Oh well.
I tested everything. As I mentioned, the cassette decks don't work, but everything else does apart from the turntable needing a new stylus.
I posted some new photos of the shop to Facebook, and someone soon DMed me about a stereo system.
I priced everything, and it turns out I have about $300 worth of equipment from that deal, the Fisher amp and tuner being worth about $150.
The buyer will hopefully show up next weekend, for he wants to buy the Fisher stuff ($185 with the turntable), the 3ft speakers, an 8-track deck, and a Kenwood deck we've had for a week or two.
The speakers are listed for $50 (and are worth around $100-150), the Kenwood Deck for $50 as well, and the 8-track for $35. That makes it about $320 in equipment. Since he's buying so much, I'll knock it down to $270 and essentially give him the speakers or cassette deck for free lol.
Apart from that stuff, not much happened at the flea market. I sold some records, cassettes, CDs and I think 2 DVDs. One person bought a VHS tape? That money was the other guy's though. Oh well xD.
I can't say that I didn't miss my wonderful partner while on the trip. I actually brought along the stuffed animal they gave me (who's name is Greg) and snuggled with him both nights.
I was very happy to hear from them UwU.
They let me rant and I let them rant.
I honestly give them too much responsibility over me xD. I'm like, "Okay, I'm gonna do this. HOLD ME TO IT."
I know I can't hold myself to anything I personally say (this blog being the only exception apparently), but I listen to them pretty well I think 🤔. If they tell me, "No, you don't need that VCR," so long as it's not some weird specialty thing, like a worldwide VCR 🥵, I'll be like "Yeah, you rite bro."
I love you man xD. You control my craziness pretty well. I'm so thankful for you UwU.
#relationshipgoals
So part way through the flea market day, I went over to Dollar Tree to buy some snack, but ended up looking through the CDs to see if there was anything good. I took photos of about 18 CDs and flipped through them online for the remainder of the flea market day.
I deleted the photos of the ones I didn't want and kept those that I liked. Surprisingly, I ended up buying 13 CDs there, but not before dropping them on the floor like the dumbass I am.
Also, sorry for all the nerd shit I spilled on your lap earlier. No one cares about amps and tuners xD.
I'M LISTENING TO ONE OF THE DOLLAR TREE CDS RIGHT NOW THO.
I already transferred over to my online library on iBroadcast and put the disc into my CD changer, which is now holding 164 CDs.
Its max capacity is 300 discs 🥵
WHY AM I NERD
Oh well
I like being a nerd gurl
Also maybe a technosexual 👀
I get really excited over some electronics. Like. REALLY excited.
Some editing VCRs are like "Holy shit that is SEXY. Look at those goddamn VU meters 🥵. And hhhh there are like 7 inputs on this thing and individual controls for left and right audio gain, not to mention Hi-Fi S-VHS recording. Hhhhhhhhhhh please gimme 😭. Why are you so expensive?"
I uh, mean, uh, *cough* look, pretty lights.
Oh yeah, I was gonna say the album I was listening to xD. MAN I GOT SIDETRACKED.
It's 37 Everywhere by Punchline. Def give it a listen; it's pretty heccin good.
Another notable album I picked up was Page One by Steven Page. I very much like the first track, "A New Shore." It's quite catchy and he has a great voice imo.
Also at dollar tree, I bought a regular bag of Fieras and 2 bags of Fieras Sticks, which were marked down to 75¢/bag because they're expiring soon.
I honestly like the generic Dollar Tree version of Takis more than actual Takis. They're a lot more flavorful when it comes to the lime, but also hotter at the same time.
Don't get the hot nacho ones tho. Hot nacho? More like hot pile of shit.
HAH
Goteem.
They're not that good xD.
THE REGULAR ONES ARE FIRE THO
"How do you do fellow kids?"
I got home and started working on putting the CDs onto my computer, and then onto iBroadcast, but not without first adding The Music Man to my digital library, something I had neglected for a month or two. The CD had just been sitting there lol.
I also switched my digital file for "The Black Parade" to that of the uncensored CD, which I had purchased before I event started working over 2 months ago.
MAN I'M LAZY
I eventually get around to shit tho lol. I guess it's just a matter of priority.
What usually takes priority is digging through everything to find something that I forgot about but then remembered, making a mess in the process that I would then have to clean up, at least partially.
I think the album just ended. I've been writing for a while xD. I'ma start "I Made You Something" by The Island of the Misfit Toys.
I'll tell you where that album came from in a minute.
In the meantime, where was I?
I kinda lost my train of thought despite reading up to see where I was. Oh well. On I go.
I ate dinner and kept working on those CDs, eventually putting my clothes from the week into the washer.
I FORGOT TO PUT MY SHAPING UNDERWEAR IN. FUCKING HELL MAN.
I wanted to wash em for this week 😭
No tight pants for Leonna I guess qwq.
Meanwhile, the box of my CD album cases is overflowing. I need another box.
I keep all of the album artworks in a big CD folder. That's almost full.
I wanna fill my entire CD changer. That's one of my big goals in life. Idk why, but I just wanna legitimately fill the entire thing.
My clothes are in the dryer now. I don't think I have the time (or energy) to fold them tonight. I'll leave that for tomorrow morning before work.
And God. Fucking. Damnit. I start school again on Wednesday. NOT looking forward to that, and neither are my 2 coworkers. We already have low enough staff, but only the two of them working is gonna be a pain in the ass.
I'll still work Saturdays.
I need to contact my guidance counselor to get out of the gym class I signed up for. I scheduled this shit before I found out I was trans, and I don't wanna deal with the fucking locker room situation 🙄 I have far more important matters.
Okay so anyway, the album I'm listening to came from a cassette. I bought this cassette a few months ago at the flea market along with a few others. The reason I bought them? They were all newer cassette releases from the 2010's, and they're all actually pretty good music from very indie bands.
Currently getting mad at iBroadcast's compression algorithm. It's unnaturally fucking anything over -10db up. Oh well, there's not really anything I can do about it.
I have like 13GB of music on my phone btw. That's about 3.5k songs on 268 albums.
I'm kind of an audiophile, but I'm too cheap to pay for a lossless service. Oh well.
They do actually have a lossless service on iBroadcast, but once again, too cheap.
Someone just sent me a friend request who legitimately posted that BLM and the democratic party are hate groups.
BLOCK.
Goodbye ho.
I don't get that. They call the democratic party a hate group when they hate people like me, and I, being more of a democrat although not fully because the 2-party system is fucked, think nothing more of them than they're very wrong about certain things, especially, as shown, that black people, as well as asian, Indian, native, and people of all ethnicities and backgrounds, are not equal to white people.
Yeh.
Totally.
You go buddy.
Anyway, yeah, I can, and do, convert music and video from analog formats to digital files in order for me to archive and listen to whenever and wherever I please. I've actually made a bit of a business out of it, but I don't get too much work from it. At least I'm not overloading myself xD.
I honestly have so much more to say, but I should probably go to sleep soon.
A few final shoutouts to the following people and companies:
-Dollar Tree
-Steven Page
-Broken World Media
-The Island of Misfit Toys
-Simple Kid
-Punchline
-My incredible partner QwQ I love you so much. Thanks for being the best all the time. I hope I can give you the best life ever.
Anyway I suppose this is goodnight. Lmk if you want a full list of the CDs I bought today! I'll link that song by Steven Page here.
And here's a good song from Simple Kid
I really like music lol. Enjoy these pieces.
Anyway, goodnight lol.
Lots of love,
-Leonna.
