Honestly though, it must be so weird to work with some people for a few years of your life and for years, decades, later people are shipping you with your co worker.

I'm obviously all for shipping fictional characters, but this is the actors job. Where they get a paycheck. They are literally being paid to act like found family.

Like imagine you worked in an office with some people for 3 years in 2004-2007 and in 2030 people are making clips of you and how in love you look while eating lunch with Carol or saying hi as you both arrived in the parking lot.

I've seen this in pretty much every fandom I've been in. Star Trek, good omens, X men, Marvel. I do not think RDJ has any emotional attachment to Chris Evens or that Shanter really cared about and enjoyed spending time with Nimoy. I'm positive for David Tennant, Good Omens is just his next job and Michael Sheen only likes it because it made him much more well known in the acting world and it'll be easier to get his next gig. Yes Pine and Quinto look like they are actual friends outside of the movies but that is an exception.

Anyway, just my thoughts since I just saw a post of some Trek actors in I'm assuming the late 80s or 90s and people were saying 'how could he not be bi saying stuff like this'. Money, the answer is always money.

edit: OK let me address some of what is in the comments. Do actors say they are friends, sure, and if you want to take that at face value then you are right, they are friends. I personally don't think it counts if you are being paid to do so. And before anyone says anything, no not directly. But they have a whole 'image' to uphold that their income is tied to.

I don't know much about the entertainment industry and don't know why people would want that life but it's .... well, different, is the nice way to say it. My sister's career is considered part of the entertainment industry though she is behind the scenes. (And, side note, even being behind the scenes I've still found photoshopped images someone made of her in her in sexy lingerie ... )

TBF we don't talk that often but I've heard some stories (apparently Bill Nye is more then a bit of a jerk behind closed doors) She's lived in Hollywood 12 years now and there is the face people put out in the public and who they truly are. Yes, we all have a self that we hide (I'm autistic so I know all about masking) but it seems that is pushed to extremes.

I've seen her act like many people's best friends (house parties and giving favors and gifts that I question) and promoting their good name in public then she'll tell me in private some horrible things that person has done to others and how it's just how it works. She house/cat sat for a guy (and sent me views from his balcony, my god it was nice) who I think a lot of people would recognize from TV but their relationship was built on respect for each other careers.

Sure, you can tell me not to base the examples off my sisters stories and, ok fair. But I'd also want to point out - the part of RDJ buying evens a car, I did some math. He has 300 million net worth according to google. I have a salary, not net worth (or a negative one cause of student loans I guess), but it is the equivalent of me buying my co worker a $32 gift assuming the car was 150k. I met a guy who performed in Vegas shows and told me how they've had dinner with (I honestly don't remember if it was Penn or Teller) at their house with their spouses. And private chats ... doesn't really tell me much.

I'm currently seeing a bunch of clips of the main actors for the new Wicked movie saying how each other changed each others lives and it just comes off as more acting to promote the movie to me.

And even with Pine and Quinto , I only gave that one a pass because they said knew each other and got along before being in Trek and even then, eh..

Again, just how I interpret things. I know friend can mean different things to different people and a lot of what I see I don't interpret as friend, I see it as networking. I would absolutely be 'friends' with someone if it helped me make and maintain my multi millions .

Starting with the modern environment. I know, the story could work in a modern environment because of the context of the whole story and it's meaning. But I can't help but think in a more superficial way (which I KNOW they are) the portrait itself doesn't work... Internet filters, Photoshop, PLASTIC SURGERY IDK. There, problem solved. I'm just saying incoherent stuff at this point bc I want to complain about something. But going to the thing that actually matters...

Dorian's and Basil RELATIONSHIP. Who tf told them it was a good idea to make them siblings??? SIBLINGS.

They're ruining their complete relationship, Basil's whole character arc. They're changing it completely and I don't like it. His own thoughts about Sybil Vane. There was a scene in the book that broke me, where Dorian, Henry and Basil are on their way to the theater and the absolute heartbreak that was reading to Basil's thoughts alone during the whole ride, it's something I won't have. THE LOVE CONFESSION.

That is such an important piece of the story, it's indicative for Dorian that he has power over Basil. Of course, that was also changed in that weird movie back in 2009 (the only piece of cinema I've seen because I cannot find the others 😞) but at least personally I liked the kiss part, idk.

I just DON'T LIKE WHAT THEY'RE DOING

And like, 2 things came to my mind, one more possible than the other

1. They're gonna do really weird stuff

2. The most probable one, they are literally changing things so much that at this point it won't be The Picture of Dorian Gray, it will be just a random story with their names on it (except for Basil my poor baby doesn't deserve this)

And last but not least... Henry. What are they going to do with him, what are their plans? I am not really informed what the whole thing is going to be, but I don't know what's going to be with Henry. Modern environment, knowing how Henry is the minimum thing he would say and he would be absolutely BLASTED in social media, cancelled on Twitter and all /j

Or, just my thoughts I really don't know, but seeing how things are going they could change his character so much he wouldn't be Henry Wotton and would be more like Enrique Waton

I had this idea in my head for months and never got around to it. From the Laserwing villain cast, Tina is the insufferably quirky memelord one. So of course her spotify playlist was going to have Caramelldansen on the cover. Of course.

Laserwing character playlists are ongoing works in progress that I add stuff to sporadically. Not everyone has theirs yet. Some don't have their covers yet. So far we have:

Tony: Anime and video game themes, Queen, and for some reason, ska. All the hallmarks of a nerd who isn't actually into music.

Matt: 70s and 80s rock, with a sci-fi theme whenever possible, with a few more modern things peppered in when they really speak to his personality.

Josh: Emo and goth and pop punk with a lean towards bad relationship songs.

Mistaire: Basic Becky 80s tunes you can dance to, with very little further depth to be found.

Clarisse: Chaste churchgirl 90s pop with a few anime and cartoon songs peppered in. The music you'd hear on the mall speakers when you went to buy your Neopets merch from Limited Too in the year 2001.

Marjolaine: Classic goth and a little metal, with modern goth and emo mixed in if they're 'sophisticated enough' (has piano in it). She likes to hear songs about how amazing a girl is and pretend she's that girl.

Contrabrigands: One song for each of the villain kids, this was their team playlist from before I split them up into their own individual playlists.

Lance: Cynical punk and ska, with some covers of 80s songs that would be on his mom's playlist...if she had one. Songs about questioning authority, and occasionally feeding Lance's messiah complex.

Renei: Any song you'd hear accompanying a rad action scene in an 80s move. Songs you can punch bricks to. Songs for overcoming opponents to. Songs with no emotional vulnerability or time for contemplation. Karate!!!

Eli: A complex blend of light, airy, new-age relaxation and dark, plummeting violent crisis. Songs about magic, the supernatural, and general paranoia are constant. The only light that cuts through the darkness is love.

Marina: The kind of playlist that serves as a warning, don't date this girl. Unstable, troubled, constantly oscillating between the victim and the abuser, and kind of pretentious on top of it all. As many nautically-themed songs as I could keep within that mood.

Heather: Songs about stardom, fame, and beauty punctuated by screaming feminist punk. Lyrics you can photoshop onto a grungy selfie after you let your mascara run.

Zack: A political edgelord in a fine tailored suit, with a historical hyperfixation on East Germany and the Cold War. Zack feels most comfortable when you aren't sure what he actually believes.

Draco: Metal, both regular and nu, with a little anime (also metal). Hits incredible synergy with Zack somehow, because a weird number of songs on the Zack playlist have nu-metal covers.

Tina: Upbeat danceable memelord jams. The kind of insufferable shit you'd put on blast before trotting onto the convention center floor in your best cosplay and/or fursuit. Peppered with some songs I actually think suit her, which are nigh-indistinguishable from the meme songs in most cases.

Characters without playlists yet who will definitely get them at some point: Pauline, Taylor, Jenny, Sylvette

Characters who should get playlists but I have NO idea what I'm gonna put on them because this character is hard to pick for: Trieg, Victoria

These genuinely help me focus on making Laserwing, most of the time. Sometimes. When I'm not doing other things, like picking songs for the playlists.

Hey this might sound kind of stupid when talking about dick knubblers stupid robot eyes but there is an unfortunate history of disabled people's medical aids getting erased and photoshopped out of photos and fan works to see either what a disabled person would look like "normally" or because they don't like the look of them. So seeing his robot eyes photoshopped out was kind of upsetting as someone who uses medical aids. I'm not angry or accusing you of being purposefully ignorant or malicious about it just so we're clear and you don't have to respond this this. I just wanted to let you know that it can be harmful.

I want to thank you for your polite language. I can see your genuine desire to make things more comfortable for others, it's a great wish, so i will try to give you proper answer as much as my english skills allows me.

First of all - I love Dick Knubbler. I'm one step from obsession, which is good because when I'm obsessed I start to act pretty weird as if I had maniacal phase. I love everything about this ridiculous man and I love his robotics eyes, it's such a genius concept and it looks so neat. I did edits only because of my love to him, I didn't have any intentions to "fix" him or give him more proper look. He used to have eyes for such a small period of time and I wanted to fantasize about how would he look. In fact he looks better WITH robotic eyes. That's all, I didn't think about surgery he came through or if it's more or less comfortable. To me, he is just a picture on screen.

Second - I can't take care of everyone who come across my art, it's not my responsibility to filter content they might or might not see. Everything can be harmful, it's internet, its filled with so much different shit, if you just float in this dirty river you will drown in this swamp, unless you get yourself a boat and a paddle and make your own course. No one will do it for you, no one have to do it for you. Internet is magnificent,you literally can build your own world. Make yourself a safe, beloved space. And you're the only one who can do it, it's only in your power.

You can't come across everyone saying their content is harmful and expecting them to follow YOUR rules. If you come to my place saying you has a traumatic experience with cats, I will suggest to meet in different places, not close my cat in room and don't let him be anywhere while you visit me.

EVERYTHING can be harmful. Anyone can have traumatic experience about anything. O came through tough bullying in school for 11 years and every time I hear anyone has good relationship with their classmates I feel both angry and jealous. But I can't tell them not to talk about it. It's not their problems.

Now, I clearly understand your point. I don't know your story, but I maybe you come through bullying or stressful operations, maybe you had rejection from people or painful memories. And I feel sorry about that. I hope you have a good treatment and friends and family that support you and love. But I personally can't help you anyhow and I can't filter my content because of you. I make my gifs using Photoshop (but used to make them on a very old product called Serif Photoplus until a couple years ago). I was shown this tutorial on how to make them in PS and have just kind of gone from there. I recommend looking at this person's other tutorials to answer your question about capping/video quality 😉

As for Keero I actually do ship them so much. When I talk about wanting to see them make each other worse or betraying each other, it's because I'm fascinated by the journey that could potentially lead us to that point by the end of Season 2 (let’s be real, is anyone genuinely shipping this because they want to see them in a happy healthy relationship with each other? lmao)

Kyle Soller and Denise Gough describe their characters as "adolescents" or "baby villains" in the sense that they're figuring out how to make a place for themselves in the fascistic structure of the Empire. And once you get into that system, once you start rising through the ranks, once you start gaining more and more power - how much of your identity do you give away to it? How much of your humanity do you lose?

I feel like Syril and Dedra’s relationship is perfect ground to explore those questions. Because there is something intimate and very human in how similar they are and how they see each other. They share a drive and ideals that come from the same feeling of “lack” in their lives. But because they’re trying to fulfil those needs within the ruthless system of the Empire, it will ultimately cause their own destruction. If they actually do express any genuine feelings for each other, they will have to ice them out in the end. 

Also on a more base level: I ship it because all the weird tension and repression in their dynamic? Hot. It’s also just great to see two Star Wars antagonists written like this. It fills my villain enjoyer heart with joy and I’m just down for the fucked up ride regardless.

Since the both of you love photography,, I can most *definitely* imagine you two taking pictures of scenery found in the manor..

As well as *some* of the silly things that happen outside of matches.. Although,, it's more on your end than Joseph's..

However,, I must also remind you that you WILL be bombarded with questions partaining to your "equipment"..(｡･ω･｡)

Whether it'd be a modern HD camera or your smartphone,, it's safe to assume that Joseph will be VERY much curious about these "equipment" that you have brought from the "future" ((even though we call it anything *but* from the future..))

"Are you telling me that this camera of yours can capture pictures instantly??? With just a simple press of a button??? Then, does that mean you won't have to stand for long periods of time to take your picture???"

((Fun fact: the first cameras that were patented require you to stand for long periods of time to take your picture which explains why plenty of the pictures during the Victorian Era were people staying in one position like standing..))

Joseph is quite astonished when you told him one time that photos can be tweaked from your time period..

Now, on one hand,, he is amused as he sometimes *does* struggle with getting the perfect picture when the environment around him just isn't having it..

But he also can't fathom the idea of people actually editing their photos so much that sometimes,, the unedited version looks far too different than the edited version...

When I say that,, I specifically mean people who probably use photoshop just a *bit* too much..(^_^;)

Not that there is anything wrong about it as everyone knows.. After all,, sometimes we just use it solely for entertainment by making weird, abstract collages of people..

It just that Joseph prefers less edited photos as he believes that a photo can shine on it's own when it's taken skillfully..

((Another fun fact: Based from what I can gather, the French in the 1800s preferred a more natural look, which is evident by their choices in makeup like powder for the face or some simple rouge for the lips and cheeks.. Of course,, we are excluding the hair as we all know that big, elaborate wigs were all the rage in this era..))

In fact,, he might even throw a *little* shade towards photos that are super edited...(◎_◎;)

Pls tell him to calm down and not insult people who do something similar to that.. It'll only escelate and get worse in the future..

Joseph's life before the manor was already pretty gloomy, and it hasn't really improved when he got into the manor..

I don't know about you,, but I kind of picture Joseph as someone who wants to have a partner that, at the *very least*,, can stand on their own two feet.. It gives Joseph a sense of pride,, see???

In conclusion,, I personally think that you and Joseph would work wonders for each other!! Different in your personalities, but united through the same common interest of photography.. I'd say its a decent balance of "opposites attract" and "similarities attract"..

All that's left is a situation where someone insulted/bullied/harassed another person just for editing their photos a bit too much..

And when you put it like that,, wouldn't you agree that it sounds idiotic? Because in all honesty, it is..(¬_¬) After all,, those photos won't be affecting you much in the long run now,, would they??

And even if you said that you did it with good intentions, the way you acted upon these "intentions" was poorly done when it could've been handled *much* more efficiently...

So I always get silly happy at each nice comment and feedback, so thank you seriously. 

I really love love love vidding, Idk why but when smth comes out the way I wanted it’s a super addictive feeling for some reason, but many times I just looked at the final result and just threw it in the trash and started over and my god how many times SonyVegas crushed and didn’t autosave the project. a vent (feel free to ignore if it's too much!): so recently i've noticed psd makers getting anon asks on whether they're ok with people who write certain topics (mostly rpf, incest, rape, underage, the usual "problematic" topics) using their recourses. now, i don't roleplay any of these subjects on tumblr, so even if a content creator said not to use their stuff, it's not even something i need to worry about - but, and maybe this is me overthinking it, what if i, someday, write a noncon fanfic on ao3? i'm still not using their resources on the subject or writing it on tumblr, but i'd probably feel weird about it, like i'm crossing some boundary. what if a psd maker whose content i've already purchased suddenly goes "actually don't use my psds if you rp abusive relationships", which is probably the closest to what people consider "taboo themes" of the things that i roleplay. it just feels like a fine line between personal boundaries and a shitty situation for a customer - not wanting to cross boundaries but already having PAID for something previously, when no such rules existed. it's making me want to 1. block everyone i see saying this, because even though i don't personally roleplay the topics above, i don't feel SAFE around people who tell others what kind of fiction they are allowed to enjoy and 2. just quit using people's resources and spend years learning to make my own psds so i won't have to worry about this shit. it's just stressing me out, as someone who has been harrassed and bullied online for speaking against censorship. i've had literal sock accounts made just to spew targetted harrassment at me on twitter. i've been accused of being a pedo and supporting incest and this is??? literally for saying "i don't think real people should be harrassed for fictional shit", i've not even shipped underage or incest ships. both make me uncomfortable. but fuck, antis make me 1000000x more uncomfortable than people who ship these kinda ships. i digress, this got rambley, i just. do you have any advice on what to do with the potential psd situation, or am i really just overthinking it? I need you to know that I actually had to rush-scroll back up and just double check that you did submit on anon lol! I always get worried I'll miss the one person who accidentally didn't use anon, if it makes you feel any better! When someone does submit with their URL attached, I message them first to be sure they are okay with them having it posted that way/it wasn't an accident ;) That's what I would want someone to do!

Alright, so, anyhow...

I've also noticed that becoming a more common thing and it's been on my (maybe huge) list of things to look into for a bit because I really do try to make sure I'm not just noticing things in my areas of the RPC/failing to notice things that do not impact me. Since I do all my edits and graphics, it falls into the first category for me. So, thank you for moving that up the list and informing me that it really is more prevalent and not my imagination!

My take on seeing it was a combination of business logic and anxiety, not going to lie.

On the first: charging to do a psd that is just that, just a psd file being used as a template/to act as an easier version of a photoshop "action" in a way, that's 100% legal and fine. Absolutely no muddy waters there. However, charging to do things like icons, edits, etc. that include images of celebrities and stills from movies (or gifs) is quite muddy. Legally, it's not legal. It's a thing we're allowed to do and use (on most platforms) because we're not making money off of it, we're not claiming to hold rights to the images, and so on - it's ignored but illegal. Charging money for it, however, even when phrased as "for my time" (which, absolutely valid feeling), is a more serious form of illegal and potentially attention-getting. This all gets more iffy though when we add donation instead of direct commission/purchase when working with these copyrighted materials. You can ask people to donate and suggest a donation based on your time spent, and that is always what I advise people to do.

Okay, so, that preface is necessary because the thing about stipulating use-rights is that they're iffy, too, there are variables present.

Often, these same people are charging for things like icon packs as well, meaning that even if they're only charging you for a template-style psd file sans imagery they don't own, they've kind of shot themselves in the foot. Not to mention, it's exceedingly damn hypocritical to pitch a fit about someone violating your rights when you're literally using other people's copyrighted materials lmao And that does tend to occur to me, yeah, it's a consequence of attorney friends and running businesses.

The other issues with this are that usage rights have to be stated at the time of purchase and morality clause-style shit, as pertains to products, is not legally binding.

When you purchase something like a psd file, that purchase acts as a sort of contract.

Think of like...buying a photoshop brush set - the person selling it puts very simple rules as to its use, such as: non-commercial use only, brush pack cannot be resold or distributed for free, separate brushes from the pack cannot be resold or distributed for free individually. Meaning that you own the brushes you bought, but you are not legally allowed to make real-life money from anything you use them in, and you cannot send the whole pack or files individually to friends for free or charge other people for them. By buying these, you have agreed to these stipulations of use and ownership.

If the person sells psd's and you agree to what they've stated about the use (you can't use them to do commissions you make IRL money from, you can't give them away to friends, etc.), that's binding even somewhere as casual as RP Land. The exchange of real currency makes it that serious.

However, there are limits to stipulations of use! One of those things is when you agreed - this person cannot, even one literal second, later change their terms of use and retroactively hold you to them. If they were okay with you not crediting them anywhere or using them in works you will gift others or charge others something like game currency for at the time you purchased, then that's it. Tough shit for them, not you, when they decide a month later that they want credit given where the work appears, that they do not want finished products gifted, or don't want you to make even in-game currency from them.

And that absolutely would apply to the morality wank, yes.

Except that this very morality wank comes with its own issues. Reality is not tumblr. In reality, at least in most instances and countries, you can't throw in a fucking morality clause regarding the buyer, use of item, or finished product.

Think of this in this way: Chik-Fil-A starts denying chicken and waffle fries to anyone suspected of being queer. They're legally allowed to run their business (as a private business, everything does have variables) with some things that are morally objectionable that they feel morally aligns with their religious beliefs. They're not allowed to deny queer workers a job or queer customers service, however, in accordance with overarching laws.

While "being gross" online in fiction is not like, making anyone a protected status person lol this is just an extreme example to drive home the point. Legally, when it comes to items/products be they digital or physical, your rights and responsibilities as the seller don't include your moral policing.

What your right is, is to make people uncomfortable to a degree, yeah. You absolutely can do that. You can state some nasty shit about prospective buyers you don't want. For example, they should (I mean, they should just grow up and get some real concerns, but) be stating that they would not like to see their psd's used by people on this following DNI list of idiocy, and they will block those users if possible to prevent interaction and purchase. That's really it, that's what they can do and the least immature way to proceed.

On the second: none of this logic would make me feel comfortable about interacting with them and their psd's in the future once they had outed themselves as morally objectionable and dangerous to me with this nonsense. And I would still feel anxious about using things I had previously bought because once harassed...it doesn't really go away, does it? It would just give me some ease about the latter with things I'd already made. Like, I could keep using the icons I'd made with those psd's with a little bit more comfort knowing that they honestly have not a leg to stand on outside of their harassment.

I might have the tendency to respond to harassment without much upset, but that doesn't mean I want to be harassed. Especially when I am not doing anything that draws that kind of attention. Not that harassment is warranted over anything, but when I make a PSA or answer an ask that I know is likely to get their attention and piss them off? That's an acceptable risk I am knowingly taking. When I'm just going about my life as a RPer, it isn't.

So, I don't feel like you're overthinking it or being too concerned! In no way did you sign up for getting unwanted attention, and because it has happened before, of course, you're trying to insulate yourself from having it happen again. That's totally reasonable!

Now, what you could do about it...

It's another of those situations in which we're only truly capable of controlling ourselves. Everyone else is kind of a NPC.

You don't have to do anything I'm suggesting, but these are things I would do!

I would block the shit out of anyone saying these things/trying to make them stipulations, yes.

By that, I mean that I would also visit blogs they appear to interact with and they'd be blocked as well. We can all reblog something like resources or a shit post from a user we do not agree with without realizing it, but when it's frequent reblogs, direct support, and friendly vibes going on, it's safer to assume that they are aware their friend sucks. More importantly, that they do not think their friend sucks and support their views.

Even if that is not the case, do you want someone else's repeated inattention to expose you to bad actors? Nope! So, don't run the risk of paying and otherwise interacting with the one resource blog in the group that doesn't express these views/"requirements," but does involve themselves with those who do.

Try to find people selling these resources, that are not connected to the problem ones, who do not have those views. Once a trend starts, it is very hard to stop until it has run its course naturally, so, this might be difficult and take some extreme effort. You might want to consider asking like-minded friends who use psd's where they got them so you can check those users out for yourself.

If they're all the same, problem, people...

Look for users well outside of your corner of the RPC(s) who are not asking to be paid. I know it sounds wild, but there really are RPers out there who just enjoy making things for others! I can think of at least one right off on my dash. They might not be advertising for doing psd's or psd packs, but either they might be willing to do so (especially if they do not appear policing-positive) if you explain what is going on, or they could at least fill some requests for you for fully made icons and such. Hell, people who love doing this work usually know others who do as well, and anti-policing people quite reasonably stick together. They could have suggestions for someone not vile selling psd's.

Depending on what it is you want your psd's to do, I promise you that it wouldn't take you very long to learn it. I know...I know lol that's both really easy for me say when I've been doing it for over twenty years and am about to piss some people off. The latter because the most common settings on popular psd's are extremely simple shit, a lot of that is the kind of thing you're expressly told not to do in design work. Like ramping up extreme contrast, pixelating the fuck out of an image, and turning up the primary colors only. Once you get to playing with photoshop or an equivalent, you will totally see what I mean. You can accidentally make an icon look identical to something that is on trend in the RPC. If that was what you were going for? You've hit the mark, and it's just repetition and tweaking it here and there!

Once you start playing with it, too, it's actually pretty intuitive when it comes to the basic things like resizing, adjusting colors and contrast, and doing easy effects like blurs and sharpening. Frankly, playing with it is better than half the tutorials you'll find because they get unnecessarily complicated when all you want to do is crop your muse's face, overlay some color, and add a damn dotted border. Listen, like I said, I have a lot of experience...and I find many tutorials frustrating and overwhelming!

It is not just you, you're not dumb or anything. People get very comfortable with something and when they try to explain it to others, they use terms and methods that are more advanced or specific to them than they realize. That's all!

If you have friends who make their own things, ask them some very basic questions about what you want to do. They know you, so, they'll know better how to explain to you, specifically. Just keep it simple until you've had some time to experiment! Ask things like, "I want to take this image, resize it to be an icon, and add an orange tint to the image while sharpening only my muse's features...how would I do that? Easy mode?"

And! You don't even have to pay for photoshop or pirate it anymore! Photopea is as an exact copy as possible entirely located in your browser for free. It's all overwhelming at first, a real case of too many options and ways to do the same thing, but the only way it gets less overwhelming is just diving into it. Dive in, get a little frustrated, have some successes, make some awesome discoveries, it gets a bit addicting in short order. Then, the tutorials and tips are so much easier to figure out and expand on, too.

If you'd like, you can always send me a pm here and ask me. I'm happy to try to explain how to do things, zero judgment or impatience. Just an additional option if you both decide to try learning and would feel comfortable doing that. Zero judgment as well on not wanting to do either of those things!

Okay, this one is much harder than learning PS basics because it's honestly a bit terrifying...the way these people are, they're going to take issue with you no matter what you do, and in the end, if they notice you and feel like bothering you, they will. There's literally nothing you can do about it. All you can do is try to buffer yourself, stay away from them, and be aware that you are not the problem.

Like with the AO3 thing or writing what could be viewed as toxic relationships. You can never write or be interested in a single, solitary thing that they're on about (and accusing you of doing in real life when the burning Eye of Moron turns your direction), but to them, you supporting the right of other people to do so is just as bad as doing it yourself. To them, the toxic relationships not only would be problematic, they'd be problematic enough. Being uncomfortable with their policing and feeling unsafe because of it is, to them, a red flag of how problematic you are. Writing anything they've deemed objectionable (or reading or viewing it, for that matter) anywhere, doesn't have to be on this platform or RP-adjacent, doesn't have to actually utilize any of their materials, is enough.

They're absolutely including you in who shouldn't use their shit. That's part of the "logic" and methodology of policing. Everyone is problematic, so, everyone can be labeled a pedo and harassed without too many people getting up in arms about it. No one is safe, so, everyone better behave. You don't actually have to be engaging with or enjoying things like underage, non/dubcon, rape, abusive relationships, etc.

It's gross, it's bullying, it's actually a problem...and there isn't much you can do.

All that is truly up to you is making an effort to avoid them, though, this is very often unfair and likely to get more unfair as resource blogs of all sorts deal in it more. At least, in this case, you do have some small bit of actionable power - by not ever buying from them. They wouldn't be charging if they did not either need or want the money, not giving it to them is a bigger hit than things like simply unfollowing/blocking, reblogging PSA's, and so on is!

Nope, it isn't like you're denying them some extreme amount of money by yourself, but every three, five, ten dollars is felt pretty hard when you desperately need money and/or are saving for something.

I know, I mean, I personally do know, that it's impossible to "get over" bullying, Anon. I'm in no way telling you to just get over it and move on, find some great well of not caring somewhere! What I'm saying is that there is power in not giving them power. The power to make you anxious, uncomfortable, unsafe, when you have every right to be here doing your thing and are not hurting anyone. And it might seem to be a deeply contrary sort of logic, but realizing and accepting that there are people out there who irrationally dislike you for literally no reason, that you cannot infallibly escape or avoid, despite doing nothing wrong is a bit empowering. Because it puts into perspective the things you can control, and when we know what is in our control, it's easier to just enjoy our time here without constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop. If it drops, we can go put it back in the closet where it belongs.

It starts to put a positive spin on the whole, damned if I do, damned if I don't feeling, if that makes sense? I'm probably way too tired to try to be explaining this lol I'm sorry!

Anyway, again, I'm not implying you can or should do any, let alone all, of those suggestions! I just really hope that something will help you feel even a little bit more at ease. It's an unfair situation, it isn't right, and you have every reason to be uncomfortable and stressed. If I could make it happen, you better believe that every policing asshole out there would be writing heartfelt apology letters and sending donations to everyone they've upset lol but...since I can't make that happen, all I can do is say what I, personally, do, would do, or have done.

hi honey, i’d like to start off by saying i am in no way qualified to give professional advice, but i really wanna try and help. just keep this in mind okay? (i’m also always open for rants, don’t ever feel the need to apologise to me)

i don’t think it matters who you are on this earth, you could be the most confident or the shyest person but everyone at some point has had something about their body they wish they could change. nobody who is body confident is ever 100% body confident, even if they seem that way and that’s really important to remember. its also important to remember that the things you are insecure about are often things only you (as an individual) notice, not things others do. (which i know maybe doesn’t make it easier but it’s still a good starting point to get you back to the place you were before.)

in terms of the eating thing, i’m gonna go from personal experience on this piece of advice. i’m gonna say what everyone says and i know it sounds so simple, but i also know how hard it is. PLEASE EAT. please don’t deprive yourself of nutrients even if you’re not feeling hungry. my advice would be to start with something small, like a piece of fruit or snack bar or something and build it up from there. not eating is only gonna make you feel worse because you wont have the energy which doesn’t help make things better when you’re feeling down (trust me i know, it might feel okay in the moment but over time it will only make things harder). 

listen to me on this next point. IT IS NOT STUPID OR IMMATURE to feel that way. It’s perfectly natural to have moments of complete insecurity and moments of complete confidence. as silly as it seems there is usually not easy to find the middle ground when it comes to these things. there’s rarely a completely balanced feeling, and anything, even the littlest things can trigger negative feelings but also trigger positive ones. the hard part is trying to figure out what triggers each so you can avoid the negative and gain the positive. please don’t feel like it’s your fault. (sometimes, and i know it sounds weird but it can help just turning mirrors around or covering them, even for a day, also just staying off social media for a while because its infected with unrealistic images) everyone is supposed to look different, and besides, you cant photoshop a personality, which is what really counts (and you seem to be a really nice person). 

i hear what you’re saying about tom, and i’m not avoiding the topic i’m just trying to tailor my advice in order to help you first anon okay? 

all i’m going to say is this (and i can’t stress it enough!!) - relationships are built on more than just physical appearance. someone could be exactly what you think you want on paper but if you don’t connect with them in person it just won’t happen and clearly it’s just not meant to happen. relationships take time and usually (while yes physical appearance can be a starting point) lasting relationships require more than just looks. they require depth and connection. please don’t look at someone else’s gf or bf and think that to be with someone like that you have to look like they do. it’s simply not true.

Last book you read: I'm currently reading Neuromancer by William Gibson and I kinda picked it up feeling I'd dislike it, but I'm actually enjoying a lot of it so far. Could be it's because I've been engaging with a lot of classic cyberpunk-style content over the past year, but it's cool to see what pieces of media have defined a genre, and it's not nearly as hard to follow as I anticipated it to be (so far at least lol). The books I have my eyes on next are The Winners by Fredrick Bachman (as soon as the English translation comes out on 9/27!!!!!), Skinny Legs and All by Tom Robbins, and Pachinko by Min Jin Lee.

Last book you enjoyed reading: My Heart is a Chainsaw by Stephan Graham Jones. Admittedly the first half of this book is just one, long, slow setup to get things rolling, but holy fucking shit, the final half of it is awesome. I'm so glad this book's the first part of a trilogy because I desperately need more of it.

Last book you hated reading: "Hated" is a particularly strong word, but The Overstory by Richard Powers is a very, very dense book that I needed to put down for a little while because I just could not follow it at that moment. I'm going to pick it back up some day and finish it, but today is not that day lol.

I think a lot of that came with doing road trips a lot as a kid, but I usually know where I am in any given place and I am a very good backtracker.

As a PSA to those people who are so insistent and pushy that idols aren't allowed to have sex/date/be anything but straight: Fuck all of you.
