(mgv) wilson in pre-rut and still working but it being more and more obvious to the ducklings (who are not in tune with his cycle like that freak house is, thanks) because he starts following house around more than usual, sometimes even getting physically closer to him when it's not necessary (and house lets him most of the time too. not all the time though. if he gets especially annoyed he'll snip at him and wilson backs off with his head ducked which is..... atypical pre-rut alpha behavior but also their friendship is atypical so whatever)

it's so bad sometimes they even catch wilson smiling while he pretends not to notice while house steals his wallet so he can empty out the vending machine for his favorite snacks. later when they're alone in house's office, house pulls out a couple bags of wilson's favorites he got while he was raiding the machine and tosses them over. the look on wilson's face is so dopey that house can't help but snicker and tell him to put in his notice of leave for his cycle soon because he is really swimming in it now

My thoughts on Way after three episodes can be summed up by:

He "loves" Babe so much that he's out here messing with his mind and causing him to lose races. And, if the preview is to be trusted, he learned nothing from Babe losing in this episode and is gonna keep up the mind fuckery and then he's gonna crash. He's doing all this, possibly has been for 10 years, and Babe still doesn't want him. Give it up Deelisish!

Can his future man show up like now? Can he get some dick? Cause he needs some dick and it's never gonna be from Babe. lol

Taking a break from my lil International Women's Day gifset to talk about how I have so many thoughts about this moment I'm finding it hard to articulate them...and I know its because this is the moment that holds the key to understanding Nancy as a character across the entirety of the narrative of this show.

I'm thinking about how this is one of the first moments we hear what Nancy's relationship is to the core themes of "forced conformity" that gets pulled on in season 4—and how we learn that her primary battle is between desiring more for herself and her relationships and complacency, because she doesn't want the life her mother has (which she told Jonathan the scene before this one) but also still feels comfortable in the space that middle class suburbia allots her as an attractive and intelligent young woman.

Thinking about the way it's Jonathan who pulls on this war within her, and is the one who encourages her to step outside of what is easy and into what she wants—and how a lot of the reason we see her regress in S4 is because Jonathan isn't there to challenge the "easy way" that comes naturally to her, even though its not necessarily what she desires...in much the same way her brother is influenced by Will to challenge his own sense of "what he wants."

Thinking about how, no matter how the show ends for Jancy, Nancy will never end up with Steve because he has always represented caving to "normalcy" and social order complacency—even to the point where he talks about being "normal" in much the way Finn talks about Mike trying to be, which anyone who understands the themes of the show (aka championing the outcasts & weirdos) knows is not the winning hand in Stranger Things.

Thinking about how the only reason we even had a Steve revival was to bring Nancy to her own "narrative low" we saw for every character in Season 4, where she falls back into the comfortable familiarity of Steve because its easy and familiar (much like her home life)...and about how Nancy is currently at the crux of deciding whether or not her pursuit of more for herself as a woman and her relationships is just a phase or something inherent to her.

Thinking about how Nancy is a fascinating character because she, even moreso than Mike, has every single bit of what would make it easy to cave to what is "normal" in her world—and is now being presented with the choice between leaving the "phase" of rebellion with Jonathan to get with that one-time jock who wants 6 nuggets and a Winnebago...or pushing forward with someone who its not as easy to do life with, but who embraces and challenges the part of her that wants more.

....I just. These goddamn Wheelers and their ongoing battle with the familiarity of "normalcy" (and the Byers who always ends up challenging them enough to get them out of it) are killing me. Even down to the way both of them "backslid" in S4 to hit the "you feel like you lost" feeling with the PARALLEL MONOLOGUES of love confessions...only to end up standing next to their true love interest / the one who aligns with their (correctly) fulfilled characters in the end oh be serious

Honestly though, this (what Ashe is pointing out) is exactly why I don't think GW could possibly end well. There's no "talking it over" after all the bloodshed (especially bloodshed started by them, and especially bloodshed started by them that didn't have to happen).

The way the narration leaves it "open" too at the end of GW just comes across as "it failed". It feels like... a kind of pointless story?

And I know some people might think that since Dimitri personally isn't as deeply affected by losing Matthias and so might be willing, that's still no good if his people and closest allies aren't. Rodrigue and Sylvain wouldn't be so forgiving, and I do think Dimitri would follow suit because that's his father (Rodrigue)'s closest friend and one of his own closest friends' father.

Add that to the fact that they have Sreng to deal with still (and I imagine sooner or Sylvain would figure out that Leicester had a hand in provoking Sreng to attack Faerghus) on top of losing Matthias and I imagine all the stress and aggravation wouldn't bode well for Leicester as far as Claude's thinking of things working out goes.

I just really can't see where GW goes afterward that would be "good" or works in Claude's favor at all. Maybe that was the intention and it was meant to be a route with a completely tragic ending, but apparently there are players who think it would end well and whatnot and I just can't see that happening (both from Faerghus' end and from Adrestia's end, the latter of which Claude discussed within GW itself).

If their intention was for a totally tragic ending, like yeah, I can see that... but as always the writing muddies the waters to make it sound good while something bad is happening. It keeps trying to have a positive spin on bad things as if they're just afraid to commit to a fully bad ending.

Omg imagine a bdsm au or an a/b/o au where everyone has to have a registered alpha/dominant/whatever once they turn sixteen. And Reggie's family sucks so Luke or Alex volunteer to be it for him. Cue the moments at school of them signing his permission slips, calming down a panic attack, and defending him to the principal 😍

Okay but like I have so many feels about this. Like, the boys know Reggie is super scared about this, because if you don't HAVE someone to register to, you get ASSIGNED and even though there are probably like 50 million books and teen movies about meet cutes that way in reality it is a HORROR SHOW. Like in some states at least you get paired with someone your age but you know there's creepy ones out there being like 'of course pairing this sixteen year old to a thirty year old will work out totally fine'.

So of course they reassure him that they got him, don't even worry about it. But Reggie doesn't really want to see them either rock-paper-scissorsing over who has to be his Register, or seeing them half-heartedly thumb wrestling over who 'gets' to be it but both not really wanting to win.

But on the day of, Luke challenges Alex to a goddamn sword fight for Reggie's hand, and Alex is just like, doing Alpha Posturing like: you think you can take me?

And they're causing a ruckus, duelling with Alex' drum sticks, and Reggie is nearly falling over laughing because his friends are idiots who would make a fool of themselves in public to cheer him up. But also they're both really trying to win which makes him feel a lot better.

And Bobby just sidles up like: you seriously want to be registered to either of those idiots? I can sign, too.

And Reggie nearly falls over like: wtf Bobby, we all thought you were a Beta. But shrugs and is like: yeah actually that makes sense, let's go sign up.

The shouts of betrayal when Bobby waves the little paper at the other two is eventually what gets them all detention.

So he ends up signed under Bobby until a few years later when he happily starts dating Luke and Alex. And they're able to start a relationship without the pressure of being someone's Register, and Bobby happily signs over the paperwork when Reggie feels like he's ready AND THEY ALL LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
