Not only acting out for the puppet show but putting forth the extra effort to use different voices for the different characters (INCLUDING barking for Max the dog). This makes me feel like Jade would be really great at reading picture books to his (hypothetical) child or children!! Or even reading to a whole group of them at like a library event or something.

Buying souvenir puppets for Azul and Floyd!! And then inviting their peers to a puppet show at the Mostro Lounge to pressure Azul to fulfill a promise. That means, in just ONE, Jade has invited Malleus go TWO things: the wedding and to a puppet show at a later date. Jade’s literally breaking all kinds of records here.

Eating his portion of crab VERY conspicuously, just to subtly rub it in Grim’s face 💀

Jade knowing so much about Ultramarine City, even though he wasn’t born there. (I barely know anything about the place I was born in, so this is really impressive to me.) True, he did visit quite often to learn about and prepare for life on land, but I think it’s great that he’s consistently curious and wants to keep learning new things all of the time.

Georgina telling us more about Jade as a little kid 🥺 how he and Floyd would always be in sync when it came to mischief, even if their interests differed and they often spent time apart…

Giving a big, dramatic speech about how they should absolutely obey his every word (because the sea is so dangerous, and one wrong move could mean death)… only for him to use this as a pretense to absolve himself of suspicion when he fucks with them 💀 LIKE HE SORTA ShAMES THEM WhEN THEY QuESTION WHY HE DIDN’T CORRECT THE DiRECTION THRY WERE SiTTING TO ROW.

TRICKING RIDDLE AND MALLEUS INTO SHOUTING “Fight on, fight on!! Go, go!!” AND ALSO SING WHILE THEY ROW while having completely serious facial expressions… and getting Yuu to record all of this silliness for posterity 😭

He taught Riddle and Malleus how to row in a straight line but not how to get back… and let them row so far out that they struggle to hear his other directions from the pier.

Jade speaks Italian this event!!! It’s not full sentences, mostly just short phrases (primo piatto, secondo piatto) and words (ristorante, taverna, names of dishes, etc.) dhshwjdvkekw BUT I STILL FIND IT CHARMING, OKAY.

The way Georgina comments that Jade has gotten very good at using cutlery?? Implying he used to be so much clumsier?? Yeah, I know we all start off with no knowledge but this is significant because his twin, Floyd, just wings everything and can do so well with minimal effort sometimes. Floyd is a genius—but Jade is not. Jade has to work hard to be good at stuff, it doesn’t come naturally to him—and I think that’s really admirable.

Some of his responses to Yuu dialogue choices are cute 😭 Some standout moments: 1) if Yuu says they didn’t recognize Jade with his new hair, he says he must have Yuu get to know him better 2) if Yuu is successful at catching a crab, Jade suggests that they go after bigger game someday do you count as bigger game, Jade—, 3) if Yuu expresses hesitation to dance, Jade essentially replies with, “Not to worry, I will take the lead. No matter how bad you are [at dancing], I will support you.” STONE COLD backhanded kindness 🫣

Jade gets nostalgic seeing all the townspeople dancing in the plaza… It reminded him of when he was clumsy with his feet. Watching those mesmerizing movements gave him the motivation he needed to keep practicing walking and then eventually running. Again, another example of Jade having to work really hard to get to where he currently is!!

Georgina calling her own sons [name]-san (an honorific usually for strangers or to indicate politeness) kills me every time 😂 ShE’s WVEN MORE FORmAL ThAN JADE. I wonder if he intentionally tries to emulate her mannerisms???

Jade smiles to himself and says that this feels so exhilarating; it’s something he couldn’t ever have imagined in the past. “Thank you, everyone, for the wonderful memories.” *SLAMS HEAD INTO THE WALL* ARE YOU kliDDING ME???!!??!!!!!??????? SW Hades AU March-April Update

I'm here with another two-month joint update because at the end of April I can hardly call it a March update, and truth be told I don't think I did much for this AU in the first month of spring anyway.

I started playing Hades 2 again, and made some progress with the Omega and Boba redraw of the Warsong update wallpaper :3 The more time that passes between posting and writing this the happier I am with this piece. Who could find all the gear that Omega wears from the Batch? 👀

Which cannot exactly be said about Sabine and Ezra as well, but I finally have something to show for them!!

Next up is Satine (now that I can show a small illustration in my skethcbook for her, it should go easy - I hope), and maybe Fennec or the Armorer. And lining Axe and laying down flat colors for him and Koska as well. I'm trying to get a drawing for all the missing characters and get them to the part where only detailed shading is missing. If my hand doesn't hurt too much at least ^^;

I'm also gearing up to drawing a new Ares!Boba too, but I'm still in denial about that ^^;

I did not have a particulrly good time with these drawings, I will be very honest upfront. I had to redraw Omega two times because I tried to line that piece in CSP and for some reason faces are just not happening for me there; It hadn't go well with Echo either months ago. I don't know what's up. The tilt of my tablet or that I don't have o zoom un until all I can see are pixels?? OTL

...and then the colours fought me something awful too. Between Boba and Omega they had red, yellow, green and blue covered, and all that with Boba's white flightsuit was not fun ^^; I don't know, I just cannot deal with that many colours - so figuring out what and how I should desaturate was quite an experiment in patience for me until they looked somewhat cohesive. Thankfully the added moonlight turned out to be distracting enough that I'm pretty much warming up to it all now.

I'm afraid I will have to use actual Multiply layers for the full shading.

And Sabine. Oh Sabine.

I've struggled here, big time, and I'm still deeply unhappy with her. I experimeted a lot in my sketchbook with her pose, but any time I thought I was finally on to something as soon as I went in to fix some minor anatomy issues digitally and add some details things just fell apart.

It was the tooka that messed everything up, I'm sure of it D: ^^; I wanted something to visually tie Sabine and Ezra together, and my decision fell on the little white tooka that was in Sabine's mural too at the end of Rebels. But now Sabine's shoulder had to stand in a way that the little critter can perch on and judge from...

Honest to god I almost cried with relief when I came across Eurydice in Asphodel when I switched back to playing Hades for a bit, and realized that she has the lean and attitude in her pose that I was looking for with Sabine. So it was either the coward's way out, or to throw the entire project out the window and become a hermit in the mountains or something.

I am deeply, deeply fond of Ezra however Q^Q He was so cooperative after a few initial testing sketches, his hair is perfect, I didn't forget his scars, and I will find it in me to forgive his weird not-really-chainmail shirt, because that one I did to myself XD

I also finally got around to drawing a quick sketch for Fennec - for a hot minute I was very very tempted to pick for her a pose that's a lot closer to Widowmaker from Overwatch, but the vibes just didn't quite match. That was a very sad realization :'(

(Yes, I took the picture after Satine bled through the page in all her alcohol marker glory, yes, I regret it, and no, I cannot relably draw faces on paper. It is a real tragey. I'm in mourning.)

And just so that I cannot really sigh in relief, Leia is my next struggle. I still don't know how to make her work, and it's been months. Terrible. Horrible. Really really bad. Why am I even trying...TT^TT

So that's it for this month. It's both less and more than how it feels, and I'm also kinda losing a bit of steam - my mind is at re-drawing the entire background section for the House of Hades, so on the backburner i'm trying to cook up various background elements to fill the halls up with. Hades is such a beautifully designed game with such amazing shapes and colours, and Star Wars is such a different style especially when it comes to decorations... So there is a lot of cooking that will have to happen here. But I spent a not insignificant part of my last week (I'd been sick, I could get away with it) watching Drawfee speedpaints (they are so fun and so educational sometimes) and Jacob really popped off in one video creating a pixel art game of some sort? And ever since all I could think about is how and IF I could make my pocket Din move through my version of the Hades AU. Just a section of it. I'm itching to draw the backgrounds, but goddamn I am tired, so I just keep distracting myself from the important character art stuff with these daydreams X"D

I also very badly and incredibly distractingly want to re-draw Boba - I've drawn him so long ago, and it feels deeply unfair that I tried to puzzle out the style on him - and while Din got his upgrades bit by bit Boba just didn't. Also. Ares. Ares looks so good in his character art just sitting around like that - all casual-like - and Boba also has his trademark sprawl and... Look. I'm back to Boba being my most favourite clone, okay? I miss him. I miss drawing him. There.

Okay, rant over. Maybe this way I will be able to concentrate again XD Here's to hoping 🤞 I hope you guys are doing better with your creative projects! ❤️ See you all in May! Hopefully with something a bit more substantive and some proper links, not just wips like these ^^;

TT poor her!! they didn’t even tell her up until the moment she’s giving birth and they’re all encouraging her to push!! much to her horror, another human just came out aaa so tragically beautiful… also it’s even scarier knowing how luka can’t strain his body too much during sex so everything he’s doing to reader is agonisingly slow and torturous. this frail man being able to leave such an impact on her even tho she could just push him off but can’t because he’s a slimy, scummy lil shit is soo 💕🌟💖

And of course neither of you truly knows much about pregnancy,,, the body horror of it all when your "perfect" body starts to change to accommodate the parasite (baby) inside of you, and you're absolutely horrified because you had no idea any of this would happen. And Luka can only admire you with such a sick fascination,,, even as you struggle to understand this, you've never looked more beautiful. <3

AAAA so twisted of them to not say a word until the day you're suddenly giving birth and pushing an entire human baby out of you..... poor darling. >_< all you can do is hopelessly squeeze Luka's hand while you scream and cry and try your hardest to survive because that's what this is, right?? Life or death?? It definitely feels like it. But then this tiny human is being bundled in a blanket and handed off to you after they've snipped the umbilical cord, and wow,, both you and Luka are in such awe,,, AAAAA OTL you're drenched in sweat and there's blood between your legs, and it's all such a mess... and yet there's something precious and so fragile about this little life cradled in your arms.

Going so crazy over this omg...... the gentle non-con to the horrors of pregnancy to then gradual softness (and perhaps even trauma) after everything,,, Luka finding even more reasons to adore you,,, knowing nothing of raising a child, but you refuse to hand them over to the aliens....... ohhhh,, it's all so tragic. Or or or!!! You don't want to get too attached and then lose this child, so for the longest time you refuse to name them..... there's so much angst potential omg!!!!

OCtober 2024 day 21: community

The colour palette challenge tickled the brain worms and motivated me to experiment some more with the different art style.

So @tangomagnolija I borrowed Lamette for a bit 🫡I never finished that one goofy WIP and I don't know if I ever will but I still wanted to draw him properly at least once so I hope you like him 👉👈🥺

Once again more ramblings under the cut.

This piece was mostly to see if I could replicate previous results (yes very sciency of me I know). I used the colour palette number four from the bweirdOCtober prompts because when I tried using a different one the colours came out muddy so I scrapped my first attempt. I would say the end result turned out alright even if it's not what I orginally wanted it to look like. Thanks to @unwrathful for letting me scream at you and giving me feedback on the lighting because I was this close 🤏to just letting it rot in my gallery without posting (the vibes were so off before I messed with the lighting OTL).

In the end I would say that I succeded in replicating the art style but it's still not the final style I want. Once again I really like drawing hair this way but the facial features are a mayor pain. I might need to mix the two styles some more and do at least some proper lineart in the future.

Btw I'm not sure if this is clear but the pink is supposed to be blood, I kind of needed to improvise since I wanted to stick to the colour palette and there was no red in it lmao.

Hey, just letting you know, the reason shopify is being broken is because cloudflare is down. (I only know this because @mayakern was doing a drop today but was having issues with shopify too and that's what she mentioned was messed up in her latest update about it.)

Yep :[ I was head down workin' hard on getting everthing finished up for today's drop, so now that I'm out of the guts of Shopify I see that the weird stuff I was encountering is just part of a huge widespread outage. Hopefully they can fix it somewhat soon OTL

Okay so now I'm thinking about rack focus and gpose and I just want to talk about it in regards to vanilla gposing. I've never been trained in filmmaking or anything so this is not expert advice but I enjoy absorbing cinematography tips and tricks as a very passive hobby so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway, rack focus is explained in this video:

or if you don't have the time/attention span to watch the video it's when you shift focus from one subject to another usually to draw attention to or emphasize a connection between the subjects your focusing between. It's used all the time in film and is an effective way to "show, not tell".

I've used it in some of my own gpose sets before like between these two shots:

These shots were used to illustrate how this character had just stepped outside to see the night sky for the first time in their lives. Could I have just used the single shot of them looking at the sky? Sure I could've and it would've been fine, but to shift focus is to allow the viewer to dwell on it just a bit longer to absorb the information and emotional intent behind the shots.

But of course, that wasn't done using vanilla gpose tools but you can achieve a similar effect with vanilla gpose tools! It's available right here:

I took these shots using vanilla gpose tools (with the exception of my gameplay shader which doesn't have any DoF settings on):

In the first one you of course see the chocobo in the foreground before switching to focusing on my character in the background. These might be good shots to set a scene. Catboy at the chocobo farm, what he gonna do next?

Of course these were just really quick snaps I grabbed to try to illustrate how you can apply rack focus in gpose, so I'm sure with actual time and some messing about in your settings with various sliders and such, you could come up with something much more polished and nice than what I managed in 5 minutes. OTL

And even if you don't use it for rack focus specifically, I encourage people to play around with the Depth of Field sliders! Go nuts! You can easily take some really dynamic single shots with combinations of gpose settings and actions.

Edit to add this bit of important information from @candycryptids: If DOF is not doing anything in GPose for you, check your graphics settings under system. There’s a box at the veeeery bottom that will disable DoF for EVERYTHING. Make sure it’s ticked.

I'm actually a big fan of Starfox Adventure. Think it's litteraly because I played it 100 times with my sister when we we're kids tho... Had no idea how hated/ divisive it was bwahahaa

I thought it was nice they tried something new with the franchise

I live for Zelda, so having a weirdass Starfox X Zelda crossover game was like the dream. I also love the OG rail shooter N64 ofc, that's litteraly PEAK Starfox

so rly i am just a fan of Starfox no matter in what kind of genre of game they'd throw him in. I was down for any entry, so I thought the serie was going great, until I read hoe downhill the sales were going...

Gotta agree with lots of critics, where it would have been awesome if the story mode was longer. Kinda wished they'd have kept the Starfox Adventure graphic style tho. i always thought they looked so cool, edgy and badass in that artsyle

to me, that Fox McCloud model looks the prettiest imo, like a teenager crush almsot LMAOOO

Although, the classic N64 stays the best imo

It's so messed up tho when I heard the whole thing about how Dinosaur Planet being it's own thing?! Then they kinda just slapped Starfox on it...

It's really disappointing but also fuuuuuuuucck i grew with that game, so i'm also super attached to it
