Hi!! I’ve been loving your writing so far! And I agree, there’s not enough Ruggie love! mayhaps we can get a Ruggie x fem!reader is like Mitsuri Kanroji from demon slayer? Like she’s all happy and touchy and he’s just really flustered by everything she does (not sure if you’re comfortable talking about body types because Mitsrui is very curvy, so if you want to pls do!) the ending is up to you, just make it super fluffy
🩷
Hi 🩷-san!
I'm so glad you've been enjoying my writing so far!! Thank you! >w<
I'm so sorry this took so long! I'll be honest....I've only seen the 1st season of demon slayer. Shame on me! I need to continue watching it lol
Not sure if this is true to Mitsuri's character, but I tried my best. 🫶 It's one of the reasons this took so long 😆
TW: Guy being rude and pushy. Reader has a curvy body.
Tumblr media
"Here! I got this for you. Make sure you stay hydrated!"
"I had some extra sandwiches that I packed for you. Here~"
"Oh. Your hair is a bit of a mess. Let me fix it for you."
Ruggie just sat on a bunch with his hands in his lap with a deep blush on his face. His ears were flat against his head as he felt you run your hand through his hair. Outside of the physical affection, it also didn't help that your rather busty chest was right in front of his face! He didn't know where to look!!
He wasn't sure why you started to dote and pamper him, but all Ruggie knew was he didn't know how to handle it. The hyena had to always fend for himself. To find his own food and to help provide for his family and friends back home. This sudden onslaught of attention left him feeling at a loss.
Not that it was a bad feeling or anything. Being treated with kindness by a beautiful and sexy woman was surprisingly....nice. More so than he would have thought, considering how females were back in the Sunset Savanna.
"There we go." You said after removing your hand from his hair. "You really need to learn to take better care of yourself, Ruggie."
Ruggie just nodded his head before glancing away from you with his face still red. "Y-yeah." Even the tone you used with him was so sweet and caring! His heart was having a hard time handling it! Clearing his throat, the hyena stood up as he gave you a small smile. "Got class coming up soon, so I'll catch you later."
"Okay. I have some time after classes today if you want to go out together? I heard they have a new flavor of donut." You said with a smile as you noticed his ear twitch at the mention of his favorite food.
"I'll meet you by the statues of the sevens after class." Ruggie said with a smile before he headed off to class.
As you watched him leave, you turned to head towards your own class. You have always admired Ruggie's tenacity, and despite what people thought of him, you liked him, and other people's opinions weren't going to change what you saw.
After the day came to an end, you stood by the statues of the great seven as you waited on Ruggie. A short while later, he came running up to you before the both of you headed off into town.
"You seem to be enjoying yourself." You said with a laugh as you watched Ruggie happily munch away on a couple of donuts he was holding.
"Of course. You can't go wrong with a good donut." He replied with a grin. "Wait here. I'll go grab us something to drink." He said before heading off towards a small stall that was selling drinks.
As you waited for Ruggie to return, you were suddenly addressed by some random stranger.
"Here there, beautiful." The man said grin as his eyes moved up and down your body. "How about we go get something to eat? I'll show you a good time."
Instantly, an annoyed look crossed your face as you made no effort to hide it. "I'm with someone." You said, hoping they would get the point that you had no interest.
"Come on, baby. Don't be like that. We can have some fun together." The strange said as he moved closer to you. The look he was giving you made you feel sick. It was a look you've gotten before and one you hated. The look like you were just some kind of object or plaything. It wasn't like you were aware of your body or looks, but you also didn't see any reason to be ashamed either. It's annoying people like this guy who needed to learn boundaries.
Just as the stranger started to  reach out towards you, you took a step back but stopped when you noticed he seemed to be struggling.
""W-what...the....?" The man grunted as his body shook lightly before he turned around and started to walked towards a large fountain that was nearby. As he reached the edge, you watched as he man suddenly threw himself into the fountain as water splashed up.
With surprise writen all over your face you suddenly heard a voice as someone walked past you towards the man who suddenly gasped as he emerged from thr water in the fountain.
"The lady said she wasn't interested." Ruggie said as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Hope the water here helped to cool you down a bit."
"You bastard! What did you do to me?!" The man yelled as he pulled himself out of the fountain.
"Not that it's any of your business, but you should consider yourself lucky that all I did was make you to a bath. If you want to see what I'm really capable of, then by all means, continue to make an ass out of yourself. I don't mind at all. Shyeheehee." He said with a grin as he waited for the man's next move.
Unsure of this hyena power and the whispers coming from the crowd that was form, the man just huffed before he turned around and left.
"Damn jerk." Ruggie whispered under his breath. While he was waiting in line for the drinks, he happened to glance over and noticed some guy getting a bit too close to you and how uncomfortable you looked. In that moment, Ruggie felt his skin crawl at the sight, and before he knew it, he had already activated his signature spell on the guy. No one messed with you like that!
As he turned around to check on you, Ruggie let out a small "oof" when a body came colliding into his. Stumbling back a bit, he glanced down to see you with your face hidden against his chest and your arms wrapped around him in a hug.
Feeling his face grow hot again, Ruggie just kept his arms up as he wasn't sure what to do. "A-are you okay?" He asked as he blushed heavily at the feeling of your body pushed up against his.
"Thank you..." You muttered against Ruggie's chest before she slowly glanced up at him. "I always feel safe with you."
Ruggie froze as he felt like he had been just shot through the heart as you looked up at him with your large eyes and the light blush that dusted your cheeks. Ahhhh! He really was becoming weak when it came to you.
Relaxing a bit, Ruggle slowly returns the hug before he places his hand against the back of your head. "You don't have to worry when you're with me." He said without thinking, and almost immediately, he wanted to slap himself. Since when did he become so corny!? You, on the other hand, just smiled as you pushed yourself up closer to Ruggie's face.
Once close enough, you placed a gentle kiss against his cheek before smiling. "As thank you for being my knight, I'll treat you out to some dinner."
Feeling like his heart was going to explode from his chest, Ruggie cleared his throat before he took your hand in his. "Let's just enjoy the rest of our date."
At the word date, you felt your eyes widen at the fact that he said it first and the fact that you had been debating on how to officially as him out. Feeling an overwhelming sense of happiness, you wrapped yourself around Ruggie's arm before smiling. "Mm!" You really couldn't have asked for anyone better to be with.

The Great BNHA Review: Characters or Check Lists?
Oh Characters...
The bread and butter to all stories.
The thing that gets a story from Point A to Point B, the thing that allows us to connect with the story and helps it feel alive. You can pretty much make any character for your story, from the gentle and kindhearted to the more rough around the edges... to making them likable or unlikable. There are many ways to write a character and how they can make your story come to life.
And by bringing this up you know where this is headed... that BNHA utterly failed at expanding their characters into being people we're supposed to care about.
I could make a long fucking list of how BNHA failed every single one of it's characters it introduced but to keep that from happening, I'm just going to either list certain characters or just group them together since some of them share one common thing that's holding them back from being good.
Starting off with!
Shota Aizawa:
He was supposed to a hardass with a hidden heart of gold for his students, but what he ENDED up as was a walking hypocrite who hated Izuku for no other than he was associated with All Might and couldn't control his quirk... and then CONTINUED to give Izuku a hard time and labeled him as the "problem child" like... I don't even have the energy to get mad here, I'm saving THAT for another time in this review.
Oh and then there's him holding up this ridiculously high standard for his students to reach or else he fails them... which is exactly what happened when he failed Sero in the finals but allowed Bakugou to pass for doing the same.
Which again his hypocrisy gets in the way of that!
And not once does he ever get called out or punished for his blantant abuse in power and instead gets complimented and praised for his methods as if he's the next Einstein.
Fucking end me.
The Todoroki Family:
Oh how Hori totally fucked you guys over in the end... Natsu I'd give a pass since he ended on a more believable note, but sadly I can't say the same for Rei and Fuyumi.
As they were never allowed to think bad of the guy that made their lives hell and were instead to jump on the forgiveness train and take Endeavor's side so they can be a "Happy family" again. Which... no, that's literally stockholm syndrome.
Class 1-A:
... (Sighs)
Oh my babies... oh my favorites... look how that monster Hori ruined you all...
He tried to have this found family dynamic for them all, only for it all to fall apart since... you know, they barely interacted at all and got any screentime.
And it also didn't help that Hori had all of them as bystanders to Izuku's suffering, make fun of his interests, and follow Bakugou when he led them to beat him into coming back. So it really doesn't work when you have these things on your mind and fails to convince you that they give a shit about Izuku and his wellbeing.
And the worst part is that they ALL look like they have stories waiting to be told, but we don't get any of that. At most they're only used to fight against the minions while the Cash Cow Triplets fight the big hero.
Every Female Character in this Series:
Oh boy what even is there to talk about? Since they barely have any personality of their own and are only made to be fanservice for the pervs that likes watching anime girls in bikinis. They definitely deserves much better and to be in a story that'll treat them with respect and dignity.
ESPECIALLY to those like Hagakure and Miruko.
All Might:
Oh All Might, how the story did you dirty.
If there's anyone in this story that I feel sorry for the most (That isn't Izuku) It's All Might.
All because of how he started off at the beginning, people clung to the idea that he's a quirkest asshole who Izuku needs to steer clear from... even though he's literally the one to save Izuku from literally living in misery.
All Might deserves to be an actual mentor and father figure for Izuku, not fucking Aizawa who openly expressed his hatred for the boy.
The League of Villains:
I already made a post on how the narrative did them dirty and I don't feel like repeating myself, so I'm just gonna leave a link here while adding this.
What was even the point of building them up to be forgiven by their foils if they were just gonna die in the end? It was all just a big time waster.
And of course, we can't talk about characters and how the author failed them without talking about...
Izuku Midoriya:
Oh Izuku... the most tragic and wasted main character I've ever seen in an anime series.
He started off so strong only to get worse as the series went on. He should've been the shining definition of what a hero SHOULD be! He should've been the one to realize how fucked their world was and strive to change it for the better and to prevent others like him from suffering like he did.
But... we didn't get any of that.
We don't get acknowledgment of his past, we don't get him rising from his pain and become something more. Instead we get a watered down version of him at the beginning who has NO reaction or introspection to anything whatsoever, not to the world they live in, to the way things are handled, and even to him losing OFA.
For some odd fucking reason, Izuku is never allowed to grow out "I'm worthless" mindset or realization that everyone in his life has failed him in one way or another. He just praises it all like the fanboy he is and just stays where he is.
And then there's the fact that he just flat out refuses to ever acknowledge his past in any meaningful way, as whenever he DOES bring it up, he talks about his past self as if he's a different person from him. To which I can kinda see how this could be symbolic of something... But it just doesn't work as it only makes him look horrible for forgetting his roots and just wanting to fit in with the other people with quirks. To which it somewhat feels like "Fuck the quirkless they're useless so why even focus on them?"
He's a hollow version of the idea of his character, just blankly reacting to things in front of him and praising Bakugou for being the best thing to come around. He honestly deserves better and deserves to be with a writer that won't bully him and give him the depth and development he needs.
Now who else am I missing...?
...
Oh yeah!
Katsuki Bakugou is still trash.
Look forward to the next part.
(Roundabout starts playing)

Outed Secret Affair
Tumblr media
Characters: Kelly Lord, Original Female Character (Liliana), Lord Family
Summary: Kelly joins his family in Spain and introduce his secret wife to them.
Word count: 1000+
Warnings: curses and the casual family dynamic
A/N: this is my formal invitation for you all to start writing about this show and my favorite flamboyant cause like, we’re dry on that:’)
Credits: photos from Pinterest, editing app is picsart
——————————————————————————
The arrived at Costa Del Sol, she felt his heartbeat go faster with every move he made closer to the big mansion in which his family resided in for the time being, she knew how terribly they treated him, how they thought of him to be nothing but a screw up, even with everything that he did for the family.
She held his hand "it will be alright love" she said softly as she gave his hand the gentlest squeeze "I don't think I want to return to them, let's just go back to south London while we still can" he replied, looking at her with pleading eyes "Kelly! They are in time of grief, they need you to be by their side, once all is done, we can return to our little love nest in south London" she replied, he took a minute to himself then nodded, leading the way inside, his hand not leaving hers.
"Kelly! My sweet darling" Mint Ma was the first to greet the middle son, followed by the rest of their family members, soon the whole Lord family gathered around him, she smiled, and to think he was terrified of this, he caught up with everyone then walked to her side "everyone, I would like to introduce my... better half, Liliana Lord" you waved a hello, they remained quiet for a moment, taking the information in "your better half? when did that happen?" the blond sibling said, she assumed it was Len, Leonard or something like that "it's... it's been happening for a while" Kelly replied nervously.
"Fucking hell!" his father shouted in disbelief "you mush? You've been sneaking around with this bitch?" his father demanded "dad, please-" Kelly said softly, his gained confidence all seemed to disappear, Gene laughed then walked to his brother, patting his shoulder "good for you!" he said, he was the first to welcome the poor woman and shake her hand "welcome to the family, you'll find us quite odd" he warned, she nodded "oh I've heard stories, I shall be fine" Liliana replied.
Kelly excused himself, taking the poor woman with him and retreated upstairs to find an empty room for them to rest, holding her hand while their luggage was in his free hand "I- I'm sorry about them" he mumbled once the two of them were alone, she smiled and caressed his cheek softly "don't worry about it love, I can handle them as long as you don't let them affect you so badly" she warned, he nodded.
The family had a second bomb dropping on them, Eddy, Cindy's son's arrival with the two of them, they focused more on him than on the stranger woman, which gave her a sense of relief.
Kelly ended up going on a mission with his brother, Gene as soon as he got some rest, she didn't see him for the rest of the day, while Liliana remained with Cindy and Mint Ma, they had about a thousand of questions about you, which was only fair, a strange woman walking into their lives out of the sudden and announces that she is married to one of the boys for a while.
Liliana only saw him again at night when he returned to their temporary love nest, he seemed quite upset, she frowned "what happened?" she asked immediately, she was already in her nightwear, preparing to sleep "let's just go back, right now" he whispered "he- he fucking shushed me in front of people!" his tone became louder "and that twat! He- they don't need me Lil, they think of me as a joke!" he sat on the bed, his voice cracking at the last part.
Liliana stood right in front of him and leaned down "and what do you think of you? Are you a joke?" he looked at her surprised by the question "I-" he opened his mouth to speak, she felt his hesitation so she offered him the best comforting smile there is "no, I don't" he whispered "then I believe you, they don't know you enough to judge you anyways" she assured him, embracing him in a tight hug "I'll show them all" he whispered again "how about you think less of them and more of you? You don't owe them anything, you don't have to show them anything"
He wasn't convinced, she knew from the look on his face "have you eaten anything?" she asked, he shook his head a no, she pulled away and put on her robe "how about... you take off that shirt of yours and relax for a minute while I bring you something to eat? Perhaps throw in some fancy booze to celebrate our first night in Costa Del Sol?" he nodded at her suggestion almost immediately.
She giggled and placed a single kiss on his forehead then walked downstairs, she headed towards the kitchen, Mint Ma was there, enjoying a glass of whiskey and some smoke "is Kelly alright?" she nodded "why wouldn't he be?" Liliana asked, the woman didn't bother looking at the other who was preparing a tray for the two of them "you seem like a sweet lass, I admit that I was shocked when I learned of someone like yourself, settling for someone like my boy" she said, grabbing Liliana's attention "but be careful, my boy... he is a sweetheart but he is not always right in the head" she added, warningly.
"I know, I've seen it all, there's nothing I haven't seen before, nothing that I can't handle, however, thank you for telling me" she said as she held the tray, it had a bottle of champagne, two glasses and leftovers "I hope you are right, I'd hate for something bad to happen to you" Mint Ma added.
Liliana found her words unsettling, she's been with him for years, if he was to hurt her, it would've happened by now "good night Mint Ma" she said before heading upstairs.
Kelly noticed the look on her face, as if she just saw a ghost, he adjusted his sitting position to be more alerted "is everything alright dove?" she nodded "it is nothing" she immediately placed a smile on her face, closing the door behind as she approached him "did someone say something to you?" she nodded "it doesn't matter love, I promise" he wanted to protest but his priorities was her at the moment "I'll make it right, I'll show them-", "don't, show me instead, show me that we can have a fun night together"

idk man i just really think that if u genuinely believe that fic authors are required to care about characters they dont care about and make content for characters or ships they dont care about just to prove theyre not secretly misogynists uh. i dont think you actually care about how theyre actually treating real women. because you seem to be using solely the characters they choose to write self-indulgent free fanworks about as the metric to define that instead of, yknow. anything else they do. or at least youre putting a whole lot of emphasis on it
also theres quite a few lesbians ive met who actually dont write men. some even genderbend, whether thru a cis-swap where theyre now AFAB cis women or thru trans headcanons or whatever, canonically male characters so they dont have to write about men. theyre a minority in most animanga and other mainstream fandoms ive seen but as i am not in every fandom nor am i privy to the inner workings of every fandom idk how like, rare those ppl actually are compared to authors who exclusively or mostly write abt men
also like. not sorry for this one, but as a nonbinary trans man who is not a woman even a little bit and refuses to be seen as one or associate myself with womanhood because i am not a woman, it is specifically irritating to me to be told this, because i tend to write most about the characters i project on to or see myself reflected in, and, unsurprisingly, 99% of those characters are men, or can be read as men or are men at least some of the time, or more masculine in presentation
jasper from SU has always been my favorite gem and i didn't get invested in the series until she showed up, for example, and i heavily project onto her and see my experiences in her, despite her being considered woman-aligned, which i have no problem with and am actually glad about because there's not a whole lot of very masculine/butch women in mainstream media to start with, though i wish the show had been more sympathetic with her considering she's literally an abuse victim but i digress
but i often don't write for female or fem-presenting canon characters, or focus many of my fics on them, because in order for me to really get attached to a pre-existing character not of my own creation in a series, i need to be able to see some aspect of myself in them, or they need to have something that makes me interested in their story and draws me towards them. but seeing myself reflected in a character who is a woman or identifies mostly or often as a woman is dysphoria-inducing for me. that's why most of the female characters i write for are my own OCs, because i created them, which means a little piece of me goes into them, which means i'm able to have that connection i often lack with canon characters. i also tend to make the most content for characters i feel attracted towards, who are always men because i'm gay lmao
like i'm not misogynistic or a misogynist. i don't hate women. it's just that between my writing process and the canon characters my brain gets attached to, when i write fic, i write about the canon characters i care about the most, who most often tend to be men because i'm mostly in fandoms of male character-dominated series where the women are either uninteresting, poorly written, or extremely minor, or all three in the worst case scenario. and since i do this for fun, i'm not gonna waste my time writing something i'm not 100% passionate about just because there's a lack of f/f and women-centric content like
that's a problem! but it's a problem that can be just as easily fixed by the people who are demanding more content themselves if they, yknow, actually made some. which a lot of them don't

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by: @gneebee
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
41! Holy crap. I think there's a few I haven't cross-posted from ff.net
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
150,223
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The Walking Dead, Doctor Who, Merlin, The Cleaning Lady, DragonBall Z, Stargate Sg-1, Harry Potter, Leverage, Arrow, Firefly, NCIS.
Honorable mentions (fandoms I have in wip but never published): Circle of Magic series, CSI, House MD, The 100, The Big Bang Theory, X-men (the movie), Once Upon a Time, Baby Daddy
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Your Scent Lingers in the Air
you might think I'm crazy, the way I've been cravin'
Steps on a Path
Boredom Leads to Trouble
One More Miracle
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try! I love and appreciate comments. So used to ff.net where you didn't reply to comments. And I feel weird to keep commenting "thanks" all the time.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't like to write angsty endings. "No Redemption" is probably the only one.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
It's most of them. I always want a happy ending.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I don't think so. I did get some because I shipped  a couple where people couldn't get over the factor that the female character grew up. Sure she was 12 years old in Season 1, but by season 10? There's references of her in college.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yep! Fluffy, spicy…I don't know what other kinds there are? M/F
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Not really, but I started to writing a Walking Dead/Stargate SG-1.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I hope not!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I'm aware of.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
That's impossible to answer.
15. What’s a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Steps on a Path…I love this story, but I'm just not into DBZ much anymore.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I feel like I'm true to character when I write. And I try to research things all the time.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing a story. I'm so sorry WIPs. Plot bunnies bite me all the time.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I've done it. Usually it's google translate or something that's used within the fandom. Lately, I just skip the translation and use italics with a note to indicate something being spoken in another language so the readers won't need to scroll to find the translations or I don't butcher the language.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Shit…that was 20+ years ago. I think it was probably Sailor Moon. Possibly DragonBall Z.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
One of my favorites…it's almost 10k of a WIP that I haven't even published yet. Angsty time loop Doctor Who fix where I make the Doctor and Donna relieve a certain day over and over again until he can "fix" the thing that went wrong.
But one of my faves that's publish is: you might think I'm crazy, the way I've been cravin'
Tagging: anyone and everyone one.
@whovianlili @wendydarlingfics @piper1016 @deerdens @courtneyshortney82 @dammithawke @mindynichole @im-immortal @fairybellworld

one of my friends didn't know what ygo sevens was so they asked me to horribly explain the main (or more common) characters to them
SO IMA TYPE IT UP HERE (it's kinda long also I do swear a lot so you've been warned)
Ygo Se7ens (horribly summarized)
First we have our protag, lil 11-yr old hacker midget that's also an engineer. 11-yr old midget has many friends, such as boy who loves dragons and talks to cards also really wants to be king someday. We also have student council president guy who's also a Japanese ninja samurai guy who's also a rapper. Or a dj, whatever way you see it i guess. Then there's guitar lady who's most likely a lesbian and makes blue and pink curry that explodes. Then the cousin of guitar lesbian is gay homophobic celebrity boy. As in holy fuck make up your mind ya little shit. Gay homophobic celebrity boy is the vocalist in the rock band that's literally just his and his cousin's names squashed together. Other members in the band are gay guy that needs to find a better boyfriend and guy who's name is legit "look behind you." Not joking. Gay guy that needs to get a better boyfriend has a crush on gay homophobic celebrity boy. Toxic yaoi mmmmmmmmm scrumptious. Then our favorite identity crisis boy, "look behind you," is literally the best i mean just look at him (the original thing was on paper and there was a drawing) he's probably nonbinary and maybe knows Latin and Japanese, you can fight me on this. Likes urban legends. Then we have the children presidents. Oldest one, speedy boi, drives a car. Very colors of aro. Second oldest, ocean boi talks to dolphins+other sea creatures and can play the ukulele. Lovely first middle child, female autistic baseball gigachad. Likes fire. Second middle child, kendo guy (big stick) beat the shit out of 25+ people with said big stick. Youngest (i think) child is queer (very queer) catboy who likes puppets and can make them too. Called our favorite 11-yr old hacker midget cute. Those bitches are gay. Good for them. EHEM. then there's chameleon boy! He's shy, and was befriended by dragon boy! Chameleon boy is so nic- wait a minute he's actually the last child president???? Turns out, chameleon boy is actually chameleon boy that got his memories sealed away until they came back and he started wiping everyone's memories. Then there's a nice little girl- wait no she's actually 37. Wears a sign that says "I am an adult," to bars and gets called a little girl all the time. Then there's providence programmer guy he has glasses, a god complex and his best friend is a sentient robotic massage chair. How lovely. Then we have lesbian lady, she gets called princess and she has a forklift (I'm sorry don't kill me Asana) named R6. R6 can talk. Okay well only lesbian lady understands R6 but that's besides the point. R6 is one of the best in the show because he roasted gay homophobic celebrity boy and simultaneously traumatized him but he deserves it. Then there's angry lady. Everything about her is strong, even her eyebrows. Especially her eyebrows. Lesbian lady and angry lady are lesbians for each other. Then there's bitch guy. Bitch guy is 6" 9 I'm not even joking I wish I was. Bitch guy gave gay homophobic celebrity boy ✨trust issues✨ when he was a child by not giving him a playing card. That led to gay homophobic celebrity boy blackmailing his cousin, lesbian guitar lady, so she could spy on 11-yr old hacker midget, dragon boy who talks to cards, and student council president/dj/ninja. 11-yr old hacker midget was actually the one that got the playing card.
And that's where where I stopped writing
I'll update this later when I have more of Ygo Se7ens (Horribly Summarized)

Ruby sent me numbers from the choose violence meme, so here we go!
1 - the character everyone gets wrong - Shen Jiu (Scum Villain's Self-Saving System) 7 - what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them? - hate is a strong word but I have mentioned: John Childermass and the Gentleman with the Thistledown Hair (Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell) 22 - your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores - this one is from Mo Dao Zu Shi (the novel)
Full discussion under the cut.
the character everyone gets wrong
Shen Jiu from Scum Villain's Self-Saving System. CAVEAT: You are allowed to write him anyway you like, let him fall into whatever character slot you that pleases your id. I'm not a cop, you do you. I too have even written some SJ fic that I didn't think was in canon character (the Golden Concubine one). But. If you want to be true to the character as he is written in the novel. He is not gay. Sorry. He hates men. Hairy chests make him want to vomit. He's more than a straight guy, he's like a male lesbian. Yue Qingyuan is his soulmate? Maybe, sure, if you want. Yue Qingyuan is such a big simp that Shen Jiu learned to trust him, like he doesn't trust anyone else, and then he sucker-punched that trust right out of him by appearing to have dumped him to pursue personal success. Shen Jiu is an abused, traumatized alley cat, too proud and too fragile to let anyone close. Whenever he's tried to extend a hand to make a connection with another man, such as asking Yue Qingyuan to explain, or protecting Liu Qingge in a fight, those men were unable to respond the right way*, and he immediately retreated back with all spikes out. He has to be the strongest, but he can't. He needs to be in control, but he isn't, even of his own anger and fear. The only time he can rest is in the arms of a woman, or when getting to spoil and protect an innocent girl, someone who is not trying to take his place. Also they're soft and they smell good. And I just think that's valid.
You know how many fics there are with Shen Jiu/female character on AO3? Last time I checked it was two, I think it must be three by now. Honestly, just let Shen Jiu like girls. It's fine.
*Their inability to respond correctly may be part of the critique of toxic masculinity that is a major theme of SVSSS, which is why I quite enjoy the idea that an AU where Shen Yuan meets Shen Jiu, this could change, because while SY certainly has piles of toxic masculinity, he has proven through the narrative to at least be able to respond differently. Shang Qinghua might have done it too, and he tried, but didn't have the power to push through his System and circumstances. That scene in the carriage where he tried to save Shen Jiu is one of my favourite SQH moments, it made me feel for both of them. It still doesn't mean I think canon-compliant SJ would sleep with either of those gross boys.
what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
Hate is a strong word, but I went from feeling vaguely positive about John Childermass, the holder of the braincell in Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, to feeling vaguely negative just because the fandom is so much about this one character that I feel like all other characters get pushed aside. I get that to some people it's specifically the Childermass fandom and they wouldn't be here except for Childermass, but… hey.
In the same fandom, I went from being entertainingly creeped out by the Gentleman with the Thistledown Hair to not wanting to read any fic with him in it at all, because I worry that the fic will treat Gentleman/Stephen Black as somehow romantic or desirable and, again, I don't want to judge, but that creeps me out in a way that is no longer entertaining.
your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
In MDZS the book, aka The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, there is a scene in the extras where Wangxian are enjoying their honeymoon and overhear gossip at the inn where they talk about Nie Huaisang's recent political ascent, and Wei Wuxian muses briefly about how they might not be so happy with him for long, and then decides it's none of his business and he just wants to start living his life now. This is, to me, KEY to the whole story.
In The Untamed, the TV version, Lan Wangji is said to be ascending to the position of chief cultivator, and I am sure this is because on television, they wanted to say: Look, Wen Ruohan was evil, Jin Guangshan was evil, Jin Guangyao was evil--but now a good man will be Chief Cultivator and so everything will be fine!
The book, the author, is saying: It is not possible to be the leader and be a good person. It is not possible for those in control to be benevolent, because power will always fall in the hands of those who are willing to commit atrocities to gain it.
Nie Huaisang is my close second favourite character, I'm not bashing, but he is cunning and ruthless and was willing to let a lot of people die to get his revenge. Jin Guangyao was cunning and ruthless and was willing to let a lot of people die to get consequence and still wicked tongues. Jin Guangshan… You get the picture. In the book, the Wen aren't living on a volcano making zombies for fun like cartoon villains, they have a prosperous city and seem to be generally okay kinda leaders until they started overreaching with the outposts. That's all. Greed, the ambition for revenge and to attain material goods and earthly power, leads inevitably to evil. The only way to a happy ending is to refuse to participate.
You couldn't have that on TV, because it would imply the government may not be on your side. 🤫
MDZS fandom is wide, I am sure I am not the only person to discuss this aspect, but maybe it just seems so momentous to me that I am surprised I haven't yet seen more talk about it.

poly rafe and topper. beach sex?

You're not exactly someone that likes the idea of public sex.
Okay, ignore the day at the cinema. That's different, you were too horny that day.
You just don't like the idea of being surrounded by people when you're doing the nasty.
Just... no.
So, when Rafe told you about wanting to have sex at the beach at least once in his life, you were more than spectacle about it.
Topper seemed fine with it and even excited to do it, so it really put all the pressure on you
Yet, even though you felt the need to give them an answer, both of them didn't push you to do anything, like they never do.
So, it was sort of forgotten.
Rafe had presented that idea around winter, so nobody really was thinking about doing anything during way too low temperatures and risk having hypothermia.
Yet, the idea came back to your head when the days started to get warmer.
You were just being driven to school by Rafe, sharing the passenger's seat with Topper when you decided to ask:
"When you say that you want to have beach sex... Do you mean anywhere on the beach, or somewhere more private?"
Rafe swears to God that he almost crashed right there on that second, but he was able to get full control of the car again a second later.
You were scolded by both of them between your embarrassed yet panicked giggles, as they said things such as:
"You can't say things like that while I'm driving!"
"We could've crashed!"
You ended up all getting to school before you even got your answer, but you also weren't scared of talking about it in a parking lot.
"So...?"
"So what?"
"You didn't answer my question."
With an arm over your shoulders as you held Top's hand, Rafe leaned in a bit to keep his voice low.
"I like the thrill of getting caught, not the actual getting caught."
"So, the second option?"
"Why? Are you considering it?"
Oh, the smile Rafe gave you as Topper asked that question.
"Maybe." You shrugged.
Both of the guys shared a look and soon you three reached the doors of the school. Exactly when you all had to go your separate ways.
After sharing kisses due to not being able to see each other until lunch, Rafe smacked your ass as you walked away while saying loudly.
"Think very well about it!"
Oh, and you did.
That day, you could not, for the life of you, concentrate in class. All you did was think about it a bit too much. You were fidgety on your chair. Legs crossed to try and control yourself.
All you could think about was every single thing you three could do at the beach. Even though the sand doesn't sound that comfortable, the idea of being taken by your two boyfriends over it made everything sound even too good to be possible.
All of that while Rafe and Topper only shared smiles between mutual classes as if to say 'it's about to happen' with just a look.
By lunch, you felt awful. You had to fight your own mind the whole day to try and focus on your classes, yet at the same time think about your needs and wants.
You sat, like every day, with the boys before actually eating just to have some sort of communication. Rafe had taken your favorite seat, so you took a seat over one of his legs instead.
Some of your friends were also at the table, and you were able to greet them sweetly to the best of your ability.
You honestly felt like you were going insane.
Rafe noticed how much you were moving over his leg or how less you were eating. Yet, he didn't say anything.
At that same hour, you made your decision.
You are going to have god damn sex on the beach.
Happy with your decision, you went on with your day. Letting the idea of future possible actions marinate in your head.
Only after classes, when you were standing by Rafe's truck, you decided to say it out loud.
"I've made my decision."
You three were getting in the truck as you said it, so that made Rafe stop from hopping into the driver's seat and Topper from the backseat.
"What did you say?"
You sat in silence, a little smile appearing on your face as you did it, and the two guys jumped in, slamming their doors in excitement.
"I've made my decision." You repeated.
"And..." Rafe said.
"And..." You add suspense, making the two boys look at you with more widened eyes. "I think I would be open to trying it."
Rafe and Topper felt like shouting in celebration on that same second. God, even do a cartwheel if that was needed. They were so excited.
But they played it cool.
"Okay..." Rafe had mumbled at you while nodding slowly, "Good to know."
If you hadn't known him for so long, you would've thought he wasn't interested in it anymore, but he's a faker by heart.
"When are we going to do it?" You asked, eyeing the gloomy sky over the car.
The boys put their excitement behind them and the three of you decide to do it whenever OBX stops having bipolar weather and actually gets warmer. Putting everyone's comfort and safety first.
And until then, you three had to suffer simply with the idea in your minds.
"Suffer" as in your relationship's way to do so, aka having sex like any other day but with another ideal location in mind.
The wait is not as bad as you thought it would be. OBX might have serious problems in having stable weather changes, but when summer approaches, it comes at full speed with very overwhelming temperatures.
That also means: everyone starts going to the beach after school and tourons emerge out of nowhere.
So, yeah. With now clear skies and hot sun under your heads, all you have to worry about now is: where in the heck are you three even going to find a spot to have sex?
Quite an interesting activity, to be quite honest.
You go to the beach with your friends, you look at the trees not too far and tilt in your head, and ask yourself mentally: "Maybe?"
Rafe goes fishing with his dad, stops at someone's port to go get extra supplies, and sees the bushes that meet the sides of the house of his father's friend, which has a beach as their backyard. "Could be possible."
Topper goes out to have dinner with his family in the restaurant with a view to the sea and eyes the huge rock that blocks anyone's view at the other side of it. "Interesting."
It took you weeks to even go forward with it.
And today just seems to be the day.
Your large group of friends had planned a whole Saturday at the beach.
Begins as the sun rises, meets its middle around the bonfire, and ends on the next morning, head throbbing and with nausea due to being hungover.
It's a smaller beach, one that usually only Kooks hang out in - even though some tourons find their way in... something that isn't all that well received - so everything is pretty calm.
At the beginning of the day, when you first got to the beach, you didn't really think it would happen. It just felt too impossible after so many days of planning.
But nobody controls their thoughts after passing a few joints all-around a group of people.
With everyone more relaxed and calm, the evening seemed to go even better than you had expected.
But, that calmness also means that you stop worrying about a lot of things.
Things that have been worrying you for weeks.
You were talking to your friends, the sun was beginning to set, and your full-on attention was on Rafe and Topper in the distance. They had been in the water with some other people, they were laughing and having fun.
But, gosh, when they walked out of the water you felt like you were about to go insane.
Both of them with their shorts pretty low on their hips, dripping with water, skin glowing with the sun... Yeah, you went feral mode.
In your defense, you tried to play it cool in the first 15 minutes. Laughed as they ran after you and your dry-self with open arms and probably with freezing skin due to the water.
But, right after Topper caught you, hugged you, and even put you down, you looked at each other and it was almost as if he could read your mind.
"Where?"
You tilt your head over to your side and Topper looks over. Whatever direction you signed at.
It has at least 4 small storage cabins and the usual sight of thick bushes and trees that blocks any eyes of your friends from looking at what's behind them.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
You nod with a smile and he looks over at Rafe, who's staring at you confused as all hell.
"I'll go check it out. Talk to him." Topper tells you and you nod.
He lets go of you and you turn all the way back to Rafe. He gives you one of his usual sweet smiles and you give him a kiss.
"Do those bushes look comfortable to you?"
With a chuckle at how weird the question is, Rafe looks in the direction Topper disappeared to and his eyes widen.
"No way."
"Yes way." You nod.
You two are able to join Topper with not even a minute later and you were containing yourself from jumping around them in excitement.
Finally, the day that has been in your mind for so long has finally come.
You three stand in the, hopefully, completely hidden place and eyed what's around you. Just to check if you're about to get spooked midway through.
The tingling at your core has been getting worse and the fact that you're holding onto Rafe's hand is just making it worse.
"I think we're good." Topper says after doing a little walk around.
The boys share a look before looking down at you and you try not to crumble at their intense stare.
Topper's hands are the first ones to touch you. They touch your back softly while pulling you closer to him and you're the one to make your lips meet.
Rafe stands beside you as you do it, and eyes your body up and down, almost as if trying to decide where to start.
Topper's sweetness does a big contrast to Rafe's roughness, yet it's something you'll never get tired of.
Rafe carefully undoes the tie at the back of your neck, letting it gracefully fall off your chest and exposing your boobs to the breeze.
You pull away from the kiss and Rafe undoes the second tie in your back, letting your bikini top fall onto the ground.
His hands come up to hold your chin and head up to look at him, one of them wraps around your neck and tugs you closer to him.
Topper starts littering kisses on your shoulder and you almost whimper to try and finally kiss Rafe.
He smiles at your desperate stare and gives you a peck. You whine and he tightens his hold onto your neck, making it a tiny bit harder to breathe in.
Topper's hands hold onto the sides of your second part of the bikini and Rafe turns you to him as Topper starts pulling them down, slowly.
Way too slowly for your sanity.
Your hands rest onto Rafe's stomach as if to steady yourself and soon you feel Topper stand behind you.
With a hold on your hips, Topper makes you lean back into him and his hand soon finds your front.
Rafe reconnects your lips, yet this time, the kiss is almost rough enough to bruise. You moan against his lips, making your hands hold onto his sides with your nails as his continue squeeze your poor neck.
You let out a moan as you feel Topper's hand cup your pussy. He lays another kiss on your shoulder and soon he starts moving his fingers.
Rafe pulls away and you sigh, trying to look down at Topper's hand while Rafe still holds your head steady.
Almost as if to annoy you, Rafe looks down at where you can't and smiles widely. You whine at both Topper's slow touch and Rafe's teasing and that makes Rafe's darkened eyes go back to you.
"Who gets to fuck her?"
That shouldn't have made you moan, but you're too far gone in your world of bliss to even care.
"You go." Rafe tells Topper.
Topper lets go of you suddenly and Rafe gives you another peck on the lips.
"You wanna ride Topper, baby?" He asks against your lips.
You nod with the best of your ability and he smiles again.
"Get on it, then."
You hold onto Rafe's wrist and pull your head back slightly away from his grip. Almost hesitatingly.
Your eyes fall on Topper and he has just taken a seat on the ground and is taking his shorts off.
You straddle his lap before the shorts can even go down his upper thighs and he smiles at your eagerness.
Before starting, you lean down to give him a quick kiss and he gives your hips a squeeze.
Rafe stands beside the two of you, still with his shorts on, and you look up at him. He gives you a reassuring nod and you look back down at Topper.
With one hand, you hold onto Topper's hard cock and hold it at your entrance.
Your warmth and wetness are able to make Topper let out a moan. And as you slowly sink to meet his hips with yours, Rafe has to put his hand over your mouth.
Yes, you're well hidden but people can still hear you.
You stop moving as you sit over Topper's lap and Rafe takes out his hand over your mouth. You're breathing heavy already and you lean in to have a hand over Topper's stomach.
The boys wait patiently and as soon as you feel ready, your hips start to move and Rafe makes you hold yourself back up.
Topper throws his head back as you start moving up and down and your hand reaches the top of Rafe's shorts. You tug on them and his dick springs free, making you smile at him.
He studies you seriously as you carefully take ahold of his cock and his intense stare almost makes your movements on top of Topper slow down submissively.
Topper sits up to hold you closer to him and your fist finally closes around Rafe's cock.
His tip is leaking and your thumb carefully swipes over it to collect all of his precum. His mouth opens ever so slightly as you take your thumb over to your lips and offer him a grin while sucking on it.
Rafe takes ahold of the back of your head yet he doesn't push you to do anything. You lean in, on your own, and wrap your hand back up around the base of his dick.
He throws his head back in pleasure as you take his tip onto your mouth and that's when you realize that you have stopped moving over Topper.
And he's not even bothered by it. He lays kisses on your neck as you take Rafe deeper and deeper into your mouth, right in front of his eyes, and all while your pussy pulsates around him.
He sucks onto some of the sensitive skin on your neck and gives you slight bites as you continue to pull your head in closer to Rafe.
Rafe, even though he still has a hold on the back of your head, still lets you move at your own pace, but he looks away at the sight of you sitting still.
"Don't stop riding Topper, baby, come on." He tells you.
You follow his words and restart moving up and down, letting your body rise and fall back onto Topper's lap.
He lets out little whimpers close to your ear that honestly drives you even more insane.
You pull Rafe out of your mouth, letting your hand start doing the movements around him as you try to concentrate on keeping yourself steady and hold back your moans from Topper's dick inside of you.
"Fuck, you feel so good." Topper whimpers into your ear.
You bring your mouth back to Rafe and look up at him through your lashes. He meets your gaze and you give him a little nod.
At your sign, Rafe starts pushing your mouth towards him slowly. You hollow your cheeks and relax your throat, letting him do his thing.
Topper wraps both of his arms around your torso, forcing yourself to sit more harshly over him and you moan around Rafe.
He smiles after the sensation of the vibrations of your voice and he starts moving your head faster and more roughly.
You are not even doing anything. Topper has taken full control over your movements by the hold he has on you, and Rafe is fucking your mouth.
The pleasure that has been building up at the bottom of your tummy has doubled just with the thought of what's happening.
You can still hear people's voices in the distance, as well as their laughter.
The sand is a bit harsh on your knees and the sound of the sea, not too far from you, is enough to make reawake and understand what type of situation you three are in.
Yet the sudden thought of anyone coming to look for you just gives your head the little extra thought to send you overboard.
Rafe's eyes are closed, his movements only slow down whenever you gag over how forcefully he's hitting the back of your throat, and Topper is moaning close to your ear.
You grip onto Topper's hair as you feel close to reaching your peak and he pulls away to look at you.
"You can let go, princess." He whispers at you. "Don't worry about it."
Rafe reopens his eyes at his words and pulls your mouth away from him. He takes a look at you and you look down at where your body meets with Topper's.
Your clit continuously grazes over his pelvis and you feel getting closer and closer to your orgasm.
And you're squeezing him so tight that it's also starting to bring him over the edge.
Your muffled moans over Rafe's hand again, the way you're clinging onto his hair, the way your boobs are right by his face, bouncing with your body, the sounds of your wet pussy slapping against his him... He knows that he's close.
Rafe watches the two of you with his darkened eyes and right as you try and reopen your eyes from your building-up orgasm, your eyes meet his and you finally reach it.
Your moans get louder but Rafe's hand is just enough to muffle them enough and Topper accelerates slightly, riding out your orgasm and bringing his closer.
Your eyes never leave Rafe as you breathe heavily and his hand is tight over your mouth.
Topper's hold on you tightens and you drift your eyes over to him. Rafe uncovers your mouth and you bring Topper into a kiss. You muffle his moans with it and right as you do it, you feel the ropes of his cum coating your inner walls.
You pull away and he breathes heavily against your lips, looking at you with half-closed eyes, lost in the moment.
Rafe's hand, the one that has been sitting on the back of your head, moves, and pets your hair comfortingly.
You look up at him and your heart tightens at the fact that he hasn't even come yet and he's being all careful and soft with you. Very unlike him during these sorts of situations.
"Do you want me to ride you?"
Rafe considers saying 'no' due to you looking too tired, but your pulling onto his hand tells him otherwise.
"Sit." You tell him.
You lift from Topper's lap as Rafe sits down and you quickly straddle him. Your hands cup his face, seeing the soft look he has, and give him a kiss.
You slide him inside of you, not letting even one drop of Topper's cum drip off you, and you let your pussy adjust to his bigger size before starting to move.
Your mouth had already made Rafe get close to his peak, with all your moans and how far he was able to take you. But your pussy, god, Rafe already feels like he's falling apart.
You move at a rhythm similar to the one you were doing with Topper and you can already Rafe twitch inside of you.
"Come inside of me, please." You sigh in Rafe's ear.
He squeezes onto your waist, but not to hold you steady, if anything, it just to encourage you into moving further.
You bring him into a kiss just like Topper and then you feel him come. His face almost creates a frown and he holds onto you closer to him.
You slow down your movements as you feel his muscles spasm very, very slightly at the overstimulation under you.
Your sweaty chests are attached to one another and you close your eyes for a second as you feel him relax against you.
After a few seconds, you give him a peck on the lips and look over at Topper while Rafe rests his head onto your shoulder, feeling out of breath.
"Does this complete your wish?" Topper asks Rafe playfully.
He raises his head from your shoulder and looks at him.
"We can always go further whenever they all pass out." He answers while pointing at your friend group in the distance.
"What? Around the fire?" You ask.
"I heard having sex in the water is like in the pool." Topper lifts his eyebrows as he speaks.
Rafe looks at you in question and you can't help but laugh.
"You two are unbelievable."

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, Idk if my autism is really getting in the way of understanding this or if I'm just stupid but regarding your women-writing-MLM-discourse... Is it okay to write/read characters that are a gender/sexuality you're not?
I'm a bi woman and I've got tons of different characters of different genders and sexualities. Tbh most of my characters are bi and when engaging with other peoples shows/art/etc. 99% of the time I headcanon their characters as bi.
But I DO have a few gay and lesbian characters, and a lot of same sex couples. In one story there's 2 straight couples, 1 lesbian couple, and I think 2 or 3 gay couples (I'm still deciding things)
Some of those characters have faced issues due to their sexualities, being abused by parents, being excluded from their community, etc. but other than that it's just... Part of them I guess. Like, it's a big part of their past but during the present it doesn't matter at all and it's just sort of like "Yeah he's dating the other guy. Anyways moving on."
Is that okay? Idk for me writing/reading stuff with gay characters is more "I'm bi with a preference for men. I love these two male characters and they're both attractive to me so I'd love to see/read them fuck. But also I love to see/read stuff with them and my favorite female character because she's also hot."
So for me it's less "omg they're hot boiz touching each others pee pees I love those yaoi gayz" and more "I don't care about their sexuality or gender they're hot and I want to see them fuck"
Reading an article on Forbes about fetishization of POC and it says "Fetishization can be thought of as the act of making someone an object of sexual desire based on some aspect of their identity." But for me I don't care about their sexuality, just THEM. Obviously their sexuality is a part of them but for me it's not really that important and it's more of that I find them as a person attractive.
So is that still fetishization? Idk I feel like it would be WORSE if I got rid of all of my gay/lesbian characters and just stuck to same-sex couples because then my stories would have 0 representation for anyone who's not exactly like me.
I need you to understand how frustrating it is for you to ask me for validation about wanting to keep writing and reading MLM porn as a bi woman when the justification you use is literally the "You aren't black to me, I don't see color" logic of it. If their sexualities actually didn't matter to you, then why does it matter if MLM say "People like you doing this is deeply fucked up and harming us"? Their/Our sexuality wouldn't matter to you, so you'd feel no issue about no longer partaking in deeply fucked up shit and harming us.
So to answer this as kindly as I can: Yes, it is fetishization on a definitive level, and the mixture of trying to justify it with the guilt trip cop out of "Well should I just abandon all my OCs that aren't bi women and never write anything else ever then?" and the "Well I don't ACTUALLY care about their sexualities, so it's okay for me to keep doing this right, because it does actually matter to me?"
is very irritating at the least of it.

Scrolling through your blog and reading abt your thoughts in regards to dean and Sam and their ability or inability to sdjust to a life outside hunting/interact and bond with people outside that life.
I like to theorize that a lot deans issues with that stem from his the fact that all the shit that's so common in hunters as coping mechanisms and/or personality traits (the violence, the bottling up of emotions, lashing out, black and white world view etc) simply isn't sustainable in a 'normal' life.
Because it's much more stationary. Because the consequences of your actions will catch up to you. Not as an apocalypse, which you can fight by way of more violence and more bottled up emotion, where you have a distinct 'enemy'.
Instead consequences will manifest for example as a failing relationship, with a partner, a child whatever. People in general eventually not putting up with your harmful habits anymore. And this is something that can only ever be 'fought' by actively improving yourself.
I think the show could have done very interesting things with this, especially in later seasons as Dean got more and more extreme. But characteristically, it didn't.
The closest thing it ever did was in school days. Now, I love that episode for the reasons every Sam inclined person does but I also really love its characterization of dean. And how even as a kid his adoption of all of John's (hunters in general) habits/coping mechanisms severely hindered him in forming any kinds of relationships where he could be held accountable for his actions. (I don't think he can really be blamed for that yet. He was a kid after all. And John was his father.) And he only had to stay there for I think a bit over a month?
I of course love every single instance of any female character putting dean in his place but the one in school days is one of my favorites. Because she reads him so accurately and it's such small stakes but you can see how this would develop into adulthood so well!)
Uh anyway. Everything comes back to deans (and the shows and to a lesser degree every other characters) inability to hold dean accountable. Bc the boys didn't have a childhood where accountability for the way they treated other people was a thing. They ditched whatever place they were at before anything could catch up.
Sam of course spends a lot of time in the show holding himself accountable and pointedly improving himself. Which is why he functions outside of hunting in multiple instances.
The truth about a 'normal' life is that it's meant to exists in stability and peace. And those things require introspection and work. And, of course not as simply as that, but people can leave. And they can hold you accountable. Not just practically but emotionally.
It's much more difficult to bring yourself to hold someone accountable for their violent outbursts when you know they've been tortured in hell, been tortured into torturing, than it would be in a normal situation.
I think subconsciously dean is constantly relying on how many reasons the hunting life gives him to behave the way he does. And uses that to bind people to him who have difficulty holding him accountable. Especially Sam.
But seriously what the fuck am I doing. I'm so sorry. I love everything you write so you get any essay completely unrelated to any of it.
<3
I find this really interesting actually! Because I think you’re right, that a lot of Dean’s commitment to (and terror of anything but) hunting is a need to maintain the socially impermissible ways he maintains his identity. This encompasses a lot of things, some of them benign and others less so, but Dean’s built himself on this strange combination of both sharply conforming to certain societal ideals, and taking pride in how off the norm he actually is. Like, he’s built himself of a movie version of the ~cool outsider type~.
I will say that I think s6 explores this relationship a little bit more, with Dean and Lisa’s relationship. And that of course ends disastrously, with Dean’s inability to completely protect (and control) Lisa and Ben making him decide to take matters into his own hands, in the hunting world: he takes their memories. This is an egregious violation, of course, and on a certain level Dean knows it—but what gives Dean what he sees as his right to do this is the intersection with his world. It’s because hunting has touched Lisa and Ben that Dean feels justified in exercising an authority he’s used to having in this sphere of his life.
Furthermore, Dean even eschews community within hunting itself. He and Sam are isolationist first by habit, then by necessity, then by a mixture of both. Even though Dean gets along well with plenty of individual hunters and conducts himself well in gatherings like eg 12.06, he’s fundamentally drawn towards the small, the close, the intimate: one on ones rather than large groups, which he distrusts. It’s Sam and Mary rather than Dean who organized and gravitated towards the Apocaworld group, for instance. It’s visible in 14.10, too.
It’s not that Dean isn’t a good leader, or that he doesn’t do well in leadership positions—it’s that he strongly prefers the insular model he’s used to. And that he strongly prefers the hierarchical role he finds himself taking in that model! Like you say, the people close to Dean, who know his history and his reasons for behaving the way he does, generally aren’t going to call him out.

Why not another Kairi-related one? My girl gets too much hate, and it irritates me that some people who claim to dislike her spend so much time trying to diminish anything she has done in the series. Do I think that Kairi was done a bit dirty during the first saga. Yeah, I think the writers could've written her in more, but the more I think about it. I realized that being left behind is a huge part of the doubts this character has. That she feels so far behind Sora and Riku, and that she was used as a tool by some during the first saga, didn't help ease her concerns. However, that doesn't make Kairi a bad character, quite the opposite. Her having these kinds of feelings is understandable, especially when you look at her overall character. I feel like they really are setting her up to develop more in this second saga.
Do I think some fans need to understand that not all characters need to fight all the time to be strong. Yeah, and I also think the whole being biased towards their favorite makes some feel threatened anytime Kairi is even close to Sora or Riku. I'm not saying all fans are like this of course, but I've seen some theories that legit try and make Kairi seem like a wedge between the two. Like, stop that. You can have your favorites, but bashing the female character isn't a good look. I said what I said and stand by it. You can want better for characters and talk about things the writers could've improved on, but this whole shipping war in the fandom needs to stop. I love all ships within the Destiny trio but that's not the thing that I love about this series. It just feels like some fans like to pick on Kairi a lot for ship-related reasons. They don’t come out and say that but it’s kind of obvious when they try and take things Kairi has done and make it seem like it was Riku. These two care about each other and it isn’t some contest to see who cares for Sora more. This goes for both sides..seen stuff related to Riku that just makes me go. Why do you think this boy hates women? He doesn’t...some takes I swear. I'm not forcing anyone to like her character. At the end of the day, you can have your views but just don't force those on others.
Like I just hate that anytime Kairi fans get excited for stuff related to this character that there are those select few of fans that always have to try and say we're deluding ourselves. I hate when people use that word deluding since real people actually deal with stuff related to illusions. It's just irradiating to want to talk about this character but some people just really want to try any means make fans of Kairi be quiet. I'm sorry but no one is going make me stop loving this character. I care about her just as much as Sora and Riku. End of Story. Some people’s favorites wouldn’t still even be here if she wasn’t around. Biggest example, she helped keep Sora alive after the darkness tide defeated them the first time. Her powers as a princess of heart and overall belief in the other allowed him to retain a form. Enough to gather his original form again and save everyone else. So yeah, she helped out a lot more than people give her credit for and this is just one example. I could write a whole essay about this character.

750 Followers Celebration - Q&A
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for supporting me through this journey! You guys don't know how much this means to me. Every single one of you is amazing.
Below the cut are my answers to the questions that you all submitted.
Q: Do you think Jay is going to become Sergeant this season? A: There has been a lot of debate over this question because of the past few seasons and all of the "Easter eggs", like the sergeant exam poster hanging in the background of the show. In my opinion, I do not believe Jay will become Sergeant. Yet. I think it won't be until the beginning of next season because, if this is a possible storyline, I would expect that the producers and writers would make the finale of season 9 about Voight stepping down/getting promoted, etc.
Q: Did Chicago Justice deserve more episodes? A: I'm sort of split with this question. I loved the fact that there was a big episode involving Kevin, and they always included people from Med, Fire, and PD in some of the episodes. However, the whole plot of the episodes was kind of slow because it wasn't like they were police officers and could go out and chase suspects and arrest people and what not. Their job was just to gather the evidence and then present it in court. I think for many, the show fell flat because there wasn't much action, and part of me does agree with that, but the whole idea of the show itself was kind of cool.
Q: What would make you stop watching each Chicago show? A: This is a tough question because I've only ever dropped one show that I can think of, and it was only because the plotline got really dumb. Maybe if some major characters died in each show I'd stop watching it? But then again, I love the One Chicago universe so much that I don't think even that would stop me from watching. So yeah. I really don't know.
Q: Do you believe in magic? A: As much as I would love for magic to be real, I don't believe it is. But I feel like everyone thinks that way. Cause lets be honest, Harry Potter and Disney make magic look so cool. However, we all know deep down somewhere that it's almost impossible for certain things to be real, and magic just so happens to be one of them.
Q: Are you superstitious? A: I'm not the most superstitious person out there, but I do somewhat follow a few superstitions. Whenever I find a penny on the ground with heads facing up, I pick it up because I believe I'll get good luck. Doing the whole "fingers crossed" thing is something I do a lot. I believe you shouldn't open an umbrella in the house or else you'll receive bad luck. Broken mirrors are bad omens. Those are the top 4 I believe in, but other than that, I'm not really too superstitious.
Q: Is your perception of yourself similar or the same to how others perceive you? A: I mean, I would hope so. I appreciate my level of smarts, and whenever my friends acknowledge them or compliment me on them it makes my day. However, with that, people think that I'm always only doing things to boost my intelligence. For example, I love to read. So whenever I say that I didn't do much over the weekend, people always assume that I read a bunch, when I really didn't. Or that I always study for tests or do homework like a week before it's do. That is not the case. But for the most part, I believe my perception of myself is the same as how other people perceive me.
Q: Who is your favorite couple on each One Chicago show? A: Okay, so for Med, there aren't really any couples at the moment besides Maggie and Ben, whom I love but they aren't my favorite, so I'm gonna pick a past couple. When I first started Med, Manstead was my prime ship, so I'll choose them. Will had been pining after Natalie for so long so I was glad when they finally got together. For Fire, it's gotta be Kelly and Stella. They were literally made for each other, and they support each other with everything. Also, they are so cute together and all of Firehouse 51 ships them as well! And for PD, while I do love Burzek, Upstead is my favorite ship at the moment. I've seen the connection between Hailey and Jay since season 5. You don't understand how angry I was in season 7 when Hailey was so close to confessing her feelings. So season 8 made me very happy when Jay and Hailey finally got together.
Q: Jay and Lindsey or Jay and Hailey? A: I respect everyone's opinions on this matter, so hopefully you all respect mine. I thought that Erin was almost toxic in a way for Jay. She continuously broke his heart when all he wanted to do was help him. But what really does it for me is that she left Chicago without telling him goodbye. Hailey, on the other hand, has pushed Jay to seek out help when he needed it, like when she recommended he take seeing a therapist seriously to help with his PTSD, and she is always there for him, no matter what. That's why I believe Hailey and Jay are the better pairing.
Q: Which character death got to you the most? A: There have been too many sad deaths in the One Chicago world. But if I had to pick one, I've gotta go with Otis on Chicago Fire. Otis was always one of my favorite characters, even way back when I watched Fire with my dad when it was first coming out. He was witty and funny, and his friendship with Cruz was everything. So, when I watched the episode where he died, I was full on balling. I had to pause the episode for 10 minutes because I couldn't stop.
Q: Who is your favorite character on each show and why? A: I'm gonna do favorite male and female character because I've got too many favorites from each show. On Med, my favorites are Will and Natalie. Will has been my favorite since day one, and I like that he will go out of his way to help patients, even if it means he could get in serious trouble. Natalie, even though she's not in the show, always pushes for the best of care for her patients, and whenever she dealt with kids it was always the sweetest thing. On Fire, I like Kelly and Sylvie. Kelly is so headstrong and driven, and he will do anything to protect the other members of Squad 3. Sylvie is such a hard worker and you can tell she is passionate about her job. I feel so bad that she's had to go through so many partners. On PD I love Jay and Hailey. Jay has not always been my favorite male character. Back when I watched the show for the first time, I adored Adam. However, I love that Jay has such good morals and is always pushing to do the right thing even when Voight disagreed. Now, it took a few episodes for me to warm up to Hailey, but after seeing her be so badass, it was hard not to like her.
Q: Where do you get inspiration for your stories?/How do you get inspiration when there's not a request? A: This question is always hard to answer because I really don't know. Most of the time I'm fulfilling requests sent in by you guys and I just write what comes to the top of my mind. If there are requests that are not requested and I come up with them on my own, chances are I saw the plot somewhere else, like in a book or show or movie, and I just tweaked it a bit to fit the One Chicago universe. Either that happens, or while I'm trying to fall asleep, I make up random scenarios in my head, and if I find one that I really like, I'll make a note of it on my phone so I don't forget it, and then I'll write about it.
Q: Do you think Brett and Casey are endgame? Why or why not? A: I'm gonna go with yes on this one. Now, Brettsey is not one of my top ships in the universe. However, they are cute together, and I've been expecting them to get together for a while. The two of them, even when Gabby was around, had a great relationship and always cared for each other. Plus, Matt jumped out of a firetruck to go help Sylvie when the ambulance flipped. He was willing to risk an injury just to make sure she was okay. And now that they are officially together in Chicago Fire, you can see that they really love and care for each other.
Q: What inspired you to start writing? A: I always seem to get this question whenever I do a q&a, but that's okay because I don't mind talking about it. I first got into stuff like this as a reader. Basically, I went on to Wattpad and Tumblr to read other people's stories. I had no intention of creating my own. And then, one day, I started imagining myself in some of the fandoms I was apart of, and I thought, "If I'm imagining myself in these fandoms, chances are others are too," and I began creating stories that followed the plots of movies and shows exactly, just adding Y/n in it. However, that got tiring after a while because I wasn't able to have much freedom because I was following a set script, and that's when I remembered I had a Tumblr account I never used. So, I revamped my account just a little bit and started posting story ideas I had that I couldn't post on Wattpad because either they didn't fit with the stories or they were for someone I didn't write for on Wattpad. And now, here we are. For anyone interested, I've posted this before but I'll post it again, my Wattpad handle is @Writer_Reader05.
Q: Jay or Will Halstead? A: I'm sorry, but I really can't choose between the two of them. I love them both so much. Will and Jay are two of my favorite characters in the whole One Chicago universe. While they do have some qualities that I'm not the fondest of, at the end of the day, I adore the both of them, and I could never choose between them.
Q: Who would you rather date: Jay or Will Halstead? A: Why do you guys do this to me? I love them both so much! But, if I have to choose, I'm gonna pick Jay. The only reason is because I like the characters in PD more than Med, so if I'm dating Jay, chances are I'm friends with Hailey and Adam and all of Intelligence. Will is just as awesome as Jay though and I feel like sometimes people sleep on that.
Q: Which of the requested fics you’ve written is your favorite? A: I think I'm gonna have to go with a Jay Halstead x reader I wrote titled Two Becomes Three. Something about the plot just makes me smile. And to think of Jay being a father......So yeah, while I have so many amazing requested fics thanks to you all, that one has to be one of my favorites.
Q: What’s your favorite series you’ve written so far? A: I love all of the series I have written. Something about creating a whole story that's more than just one part is always fun. If I have to pick one series, I'm gonna pick On the Loose. It was the first series I wrote on Tumblr and the plot of it is something I'm really proud of. However, From the Big Apple to the Windy City, Identity Loss, and Difference of Opinion are all amazing! The first two are finished series and the last one still has a few chapters left to go. Go check them out if you haven't already.
Q: What's your favorite imagine you've come up with and why? A: I don't have a lot of fics that are solely my ideas. Most of my stories have plots that were sent in by you all. However, if I had to pick a favorite out of my stories, it'd be Back Home for Christmas, a Halstead Sister fic I released when I was somewhat new to the platform. Something about writing sibling fics always makes me happy because I get to express the familial side to the characters.
Q: If you had to be roommates with 5 of your mutuals/fellow writers, who would you pick and why? A: I love all of my fellow writers/mutuals so much! I know how much work we put into whatever we post, and most of us are very active on this site. As for who I would pick to be my roommates, I'd choose @hereforhalstead @fighterkimburgess @halsteadlover @resanoona @sylviebrettsey because I feel like we'd all have great conversations, mainly over One Chicago. And every Wednesday night we'd all watch the episodes live together and experience them as a group and then freak out over what happened..........Now watch me fantasize about this all day.
Q: Do you listen to music when you write? A: It depends. On some days when I plan that I'm gonna write, then yes, I do put on some music. When there are days that I have a few minutes to spare, I don't put on music just because I'm only writing for a few minutes and I don't want to waste time. But mostly when I'm writing I do play music in the background.
Q: Do you know how your fics/stories end before you finish writing it? A: This is a really interesting question. The answer is no, I do not know how I'm gonna end a fic before I finish writing it. The only story I had a set ending for was my series On the Loose, but that one wasn't even fully planned out until I got a chapter or two in. Obviously, if I get a request that includes a set ending, like two characters get together or something like that, then I know what the ending will be. Otherwise, I have no clue.
Q: Have you ever met someone who had a very similar personality to your own? Did you get along? A: You know, I can't say that I have. Everyone is different in their own way, and that's what makes us all unique. I would imagine if I did meet someone with a similar personality we'd get along because we'd basically be a carbon copy of each other, but who knows. Maybe our similar personalities would cause us to clash.
Q: Do you hold yourself to higher standards than you hold others? A: Not really. I know myself more than anyone else so I know what my limits are and when I've reached them. With people, on the other hand, I always feel like they can be doing more with themselves and their lives. So I do not hold myself to higher standards than others.
Thank you to all of you who sent in questions! I never thought I'd reach 750 followers on this platform. The only reason I have is all thanks to you wonderful people out there!

Why I (Want to) Love Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure
Salutations random people on the internet who most likely won’t read this. I am an Ordinary Schmuck. I write stories and reviews and draw comics and cartoons.
When I heard Disney was making an animated series based on Tangled, acting as a continuation from the original movie, my initial thought was, "Why?"
Sure, Disney is infamous for its unnecessary sequels of the story after happily ever after, with the many, many, many failures that follow suit. Even then, though, most of these continuations were movies that kind of have the potential to tell more of a story. But what more could be said about Tangled? Sorry to spoil a movie that's over ten years old at this point, but by the end of it: Rapunzel lost her golden hair, was reunited with her parents, fell in love, and lived happily ever after. Her losing the golden hair is the most essential part of that list because how can you do a series based on a Disney princess when her most iconic feature is gone? Then I found out that the series forced a way for her hair to come back, and my new initial thought became, "Oh man. This is gonna suck, isn't it?"
Despite the hesitation, I decided to give it a chance anyway. After all, I've been pleasantly surprised before. Things like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, and even The Owl House (yes, really), were shows (and a movie) that I didn't think would be that special. Only to find myself enjoying nearly every minute. So after watching Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, I can certainly say I was surprised...but it was entirely for the wrong reasons.
And to explain how requires spoilers. So if you haven't checked the series out yet, I highly suggest you do it to form your own opinion. Just keep in mind that it's a bit of a mess, but it can be an enjoyable mess...sometimes...let me explain.
WHAT I LIKED
The Animation/Art Style: The series swapping from 3D to 2D might have been the most brilliant decision anyone could have ever made with this series. Usually, when an animated movie gets turned into a show, the most noticeable downgrade is always the animation. Whether it’s not as detailed or not as fluid, it's always subjective that the movie is better animated than the series. But by switching up the styles, the contrast becomes objective instead. 2D and 3D animation each have their pros and cons, so deciding which one is better is nothing more than a matter of opinion. So by changing the style, Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure avoids getting complaints of being a downgrade from the original movie. It also helps that the art style of the series is really unique.
The best way to describe how the show looks is that it's like a coloring book brought to life. At times, everything looks like it was drawn and colored in with crayons, which sounds like an insult, but in actuality, it's one of the best features of the series. As much as I love most animated shows nowadays, I will admit, they all look a little too similar at times. Then here comes Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, which tries to incorporate a whole new style that successfully sets it apart from most shows.
As for the animation itself, it's really well-made! It's remarkably expressive when required, while the movements are really fluid during the correct scenes. Sure the fighting can be a little floaty during some action set pieces (yes, those exist here), but the dialogue and comedic moments are really where the series shines with its animation. I may have problems with the series as a whole, but I give credit where credit is due for the perfectly executed effort that I see in every episode in terms of animation.
Rapunzel and Eugene’s relationship: This was not something I was expecting to enjoy from the series. In the movie, Rapunzel and Eugene were fine. They were the typical Disney couple that worked off of each other enough that it was always entertaining, even if it was unbelievable that they fell deeply in love with each other after, like, two days. They weren't bad, but they weren't anything to go crazy over.
But the writers for the series said, "You know what, let's make these two adorable in nearly every scene they're in." And they are!
Even though I don't believe in their relationship in the movie, I fully believe it here. Both characters have a large amount of faith in one another on top of having endless love for their partner. Like how Eugene knew Rapunzel would be fine when taking out an airship or how Rapunzel couldn't bring herself to say a bad thing about Eugene when making Cassandra a sparring dummy of him. It's legitimately pleasant to watch, to the point where I put Rapunzel and Eugene in my top ten list of favorite fictional couples. They're that good to me, and it's one of the reasons why I don't jump on the bandwagon of shipping the two main female characters together. I'm all for LGBTQA+ representation, but give Cassandra her own girlfriend. Rapunzel's taken, and most of my enjoyment of this show comes from her and her man. So, you know, keep things as they are.
Cassandra (Seasons One and Two): Seeing how I've already mentioned her, let's talk about Cassandra, shall we? Because when making a series based on a movie that had only four prominent characters, with two of them being comedic animal sidekicks, you're going to need to introduce more members to the main cast to write more potential stories. And Cassandra, in Seasons One and Two (I'll get to Season Three), is a worthy addition. She acts as a strict straight man (I know the irony) who interacts well with Rapunzel and clashes perfectly with Eugene on occasion. She was passably entertaining in Season One and developed amazingly in Season Two. Her growing frustrations with Rapunzel's actions lead to a slow build-up that made her betrayal heartbreaking but somewhat understandable. And as for the results in that betrayal...yeah, I'll get into that later. For now, I'll just say that Cassandra was a pleasant addition to the main cast, especially when she was a part of the main trio, and she's yet another good surprise that the writers supplied for the series.
The Songs: The songs are...not going to be for everyone. Most of them are passable yet kind of generic, while others sound like they belong on Disney Junior (Looking at you, "Bigger Than That"). But when Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure makes a hit, MAN, it is a home run. Numbers like "Ready As I'll Ever Be" and "Nothing Left to Lose" are sung phenomenally, orchestrated well, and are songs I can listen to on repeat multiple times. And "Waiting in the Wings" is not only something I consider to be the best song in the series, but it's also something I'd place as high up on Disney's best due to how f**king incredible it is. "Waiting in the Wings" is a powerful ballad that manages to be both tragic yet inspiring on top of how well it sums up Cassandra as a character. The writers may not always be on top of their game when it comes to music, but songs like these prove that they know how to earn that Disney name.
And that’s all I have for the likes...Oh boy. That’s not a good thing is it?
WHAT I DISLIKED
It Peaked at Season One: It did. It really did.
Season One felt like the writers had a grip on what type of show they wanted: A slice-of-life series with Rapunzel dealing with the issues of her kingdom with a meager threat of these black rocks growing in the background. It was all cute and well-balanced for the most part, but that all disappears in Season Two. Because now it's sort of about this adventure, but because Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure set itself as a slice-of-life series, there need to be these small-scale stories that intertwine the grand narrative being told. The issue is that the story comes to a grinding halt one too many times as fans are forced to sit through these filler episodes that, while not all of them are bad, still feel like a distraction. And by Season Three, the series does feel more focused while having some slice-of-life episodes added to the ongoing story instead of distracting us from it. But the writing isn't as strong, there are several plot holes in the narrative (how did Rapunzel's sunstone get into her dress?), and there is way too much time going back and forth on Cassandra's morality. They claim that she's a villain while arguing that there might still be some good in her, and they continue this train of thought for nine episodes when it really could have been settled in two. For me, it's a bad sign for a series when the first season is the best one. Because if it's all downhill from there, what's the point of even watching?
It Tries to be Epic: This might have been the worst decision the writers could have made.
Now, here's the thing: I don't mind grand epic tales of adventure and battles against demons. If anything, I'm all for them...when it's appropriate and fits with the tone of the series.
Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure suffers a similar problem Frozen II has, in which the writers felt like a big, life-threatening adventure was the perfect continuation of a meager, personal story about the relationships of characters. It isn't. If anything, it's completely missing the mark about what the original story was about. And sure, sometimes writers can succeed in telling personal stories through grand adventures. Just look at The Owl House and parts of Amphibia. But with those shows, it's established within the first few episodes that action and peril will be a series staple. With Tangled, while there was some action and peril, it's all very subdued compared to how high the stakes got raised in later episodes in the show. Especially in the series finale.
And, I mean, c'mon. You're making Rapunzel an action hero?
Judy Hopps? Yes.
Moana? Maybe.
Raya? Most definitely.
But Rapunzel? The character who’s all about optimism and seeing the best of others. That's the character you're going to morph into a hero that fights against an evil demon laid dormant for years? Did you even watch the original movie? Yeah, sorry, but I just don't buy it.
If you want to tell an epic story that gets the blood pumping for fans addicted to adventure, go for it! See where the wind takes you. But make sure to set that tone as early as possible while also making sure that it fits with the characters. If not, the end result is a series that feels like it's trying to be something it’s not.
Eugene is Kind of an Idiot at Times: It should be noted that Movie-Eugene and Series-Eugene are practically two different characters. In the film, Eugene was more or less the straight man, as he often questions the wackiness in the world around him and keeping Rapunzel grounded in reality. For the series, most of that personality got transferred to Cassandra. Thus making Eugene's new role in the series act as the egotistical imbecile. Sure, he had those moments in the film, but not as frequently, and it really pains me when the writers really lean hard into a minor aspect of his personality. Sometimes there are moments when Eugene acts like his original self. But it's all small scenes that are spread apart with entire episodes where he has half a brain cell. I'm sure some people didn't mind this change to the character, but as someone who adores the movie version of Eugene, I can't help but feel disappointed.
The Villains are the Worst: Now, I don't mean the one-off villains that show up, cause some chaos for a bit, and disappear at the end of the episode. Those are characters with fun personalities, occasionally cool designs, and do their job as villains of the week. It doesn't matter if their motivations are laughably simple, as their purpose is to be enjoyable characters above anything else. So I actually enjoy those villains...it's the ones that act as season-long antagonists that really grind my gears.
The purpose behind these types of foes is to build up how evil they are throughout the season. The issue is that the writers try to give these characters, or at least two of them, a point. To be fair, this can work. Just look at Killmonger from Black Panther and sometimes Karli Morgenthau from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. You understand and probably even sympathize with the logic and reasoning these characters have. It's just that their actions couldn't be farther from what you would do. The problem with Varian and Cassandra is that they have the motivation, but it's not written suitably for the story.
Cassandra is a whole can of worms I'll get to in a minute, but Varian is someone I can easily discuss for a brief time. Because while I can comprehend his pain for having his father frozen in yellow rock, I don't think turning evil is the best decision to go with that character. Because A. Everything is his fault. He blames Rapunzel for not helping him, but even if she didn't have a crisis to deal with, there was nothing she could have done to stop it. His frustrations are not only unjustified, but given the fact that this wouldn't have happened if he listened to his father in the first place, it feels like him becoming evil is too drastic of a turn. And B. Varian worked much better as a supporting character rather than a primary antagonist. He was just this hopeful, if not a clumsy scientist who wanted to prove himself, who causes minor catastrophes due to not thinking ahead. Turning a character like Varian into a villain is a bit of a misstep because if the guy acts hilariously incompetent as a good guy, it makes little sense to have him be intelligent and ten steps ahead of Rapunzel when being evil. If he were to become more serious and careful when helping the rest of the main cast, I'd consider that character progression done properly. But becoming a villain is just an overreaction.
However, none of that compares with my issues with the main antagonist of the series: Zhan Tiri. This goes back to my problems with the series making itself too epic. Because if Zhan Tiri existed in any other show, I probably wouldn't have any problem with her. She's built up well throughout all three seasons and is kind of threatening at times. But she doesn't belong in a series based on a movie that dealt with a small, personal issue where it wasn't even the character who killed the villain in the end. It was her love interest and animal sidekick. Even if Zhan Tiri works well as a character, the fact that it doesn't feel like she belongs in the show makes her too distracting to enjoy. And that's why these villains suck. If not poorly written, they don't belong in a series that should focus on small-scale issues. And if you can functionally write an antagonist that appears for only one episode but flounder with ones that show up in several, well, that's just embarrassing.
Cassandra (Season 3): OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH BOY, do I have some words to express with this character. Like with Movie-Eugene and Series-Eugene, Cassandra from Seasons One and Two is frustratingly different from the psychotic IDIOT from Season Three. Basically, just take the issues I have with Varian, multiply them by ten, add them with some bafflingly stupid decisions, and you still wouldn't get how much Season Three-Cassandra frustrates me!
First off, her motivation...what the f**k were the writers thinking? The big reason why Cassandra betrays Rapunzel and motivates all of her misdeeds was that Cassandra's mother was Mother Gothal...EXPLAIN THAT LOGIC TO ME?! Because Cassandra should know what type of woman Mother Gothal was. She should know what Mother Gothal did to Rapunzel in the first eighteen years of her life. So how is Cassandra being abandoned by Gothal the central motivator to cut ties with Rapunzel, who is probably an even bigger victim in this scenario!? Seriously, Rapunzel was cut off from the rest of the world and treated as an unknowing prisoner because she was beneficial to Gothal. Cassandra was adopted into a household with mutual love and got to actually live her life. In no way does it make sense for her to be angry at Rapunzel.
Nor does it make sense that the writers try to play it off as a good thing in the song "Crossing the Line!" Sure, it sounds nice, but thematically, it gives across the opposite feelings that the audience should have. Because if Cassandra cutting ties with Rapunzel is meant to be tragic and awful, why is the music suggesting it's the best possible thing that's ever happened for the character? If you like the song, fine, but even you have to admit that it's thematic nonsense.
But, sure. Cassandra's evil now, and she considers it a good thing. Whatever. I'll take it as long as it leads to good stories...but here's the thing: In the penultimate episode before the three-part series finale, Cassandra asks a question. A question I would have never expected her to ask, despite everything that has happened in the last season. A question that was so baffling, I had to legitimately pause the episode to process the fact that she asked something so stupid. Because Cassandra, the character who is intelligent and grounded in reality, asked, "Am I the bad guy?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was honestly shocked to find out she was shocked! How, in the flying, everlasting, cock-a-doodle-doodling F**K does a person like her not pick up that maybe, just maybe, she isn't the hero in this story!? Call me crazy, but endangering the lives of people you once called friends and family, dressing in black, AND HAVING A GIANT EVIL-LOOKING TOWER MADE OUT OF F**KING SPIKES aren't qualities I would give to a hero!
If Cassandra was like Thanos, a character so wrapped up in his ego that he can't even notice how evil he is, I would understand. But she doesn't have an ego. Anger, yes. But for the most part, her personality is based on having logic and reasoning. So turning her into a villain and having her unaware that she's a villain is an act of lunacy that I am incapable of understanding. I don't know who's idea this was, but whoever is to blame...you've got issues.
>Sighs<...This series isn't good, is it?
IN CONCLUSION
I like the animation and some of the characters...but that's not enough. Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure is a mess of a show that tries to do too much for a story that should have so little. Meaning that it's a D+ for me. I want to enjoy it and give it a higher grade, especially with how much I hear people praise this series. And if you do enjoy it, all the power to you. Your opinions are valid, even if I highly disagree with them. Because for me, this is a show that I won't get myself tangled up in again in the future.

Hiiiii.🙈
Just came here to say that I love your Songs About Toxic People so much.❤️ I've been obsessed about the Bonten Executives ever since I caught up with the manga and it's just so sad how we don't have enough content about them yet.🤧
I love all the Bonten Executives and my favorites are Sanzu and the Haitanis.🥺🤧💕
It's funny because I don't even know how that happened and I didn't notice it right away but the next thing I know I'm simping after the three of them so hard and for days my mind has been filled with nothing but thoughts of them ever since. Oh, the struggle. (😂)
The lack of content about them almost turned me into a fanfic writer right then and there (🤣) because I seriously wanted to read something about an OC who's also the only female executive in Bonten and I almost wrote it down myself, I swear.😆 I have never written something before in my life. Never. That's why I am soooo glad to find Songs About Toxic People. You have no idea how you saved me from the thirst I've been having ever since I got introduced to Bonten!Sanzu and Bonten!Haitanis and how you silenced the raging thoughts in my head about them if only for a little while, may God help me.
Now. About your absolutely beautiful and wonderfully written fic. Let me just say that I love everything about it.✨ The characterization, the little details about OC, their interactions, the dialogue, everything, is chef's kiss in my opinion. English is not my first language and (I'm guessing your's isn't as well? If I'm wrong, please ignore this but if I'm right then) I admire how beautiful your narration is. The words you use and the way you can create an image in your readers' minds using your descriptions is amazing.❤️
Your "show, don't tell" skills in writing is very beautiful, very admirable, and it's also my most favorite part of your story. I love it very much, seriously. That skill is the one thing I lack that made me give up in being able to write something of my own.😌 I realized that when it comes to writing, there are so many factors to remember and consider in order to make it interesting and engaging for your readers. Worldbuilding, character development, pacing, to name a few. But the hardest for me to master is the one thing you're so amazingly good at. And I admire you for that. That's why whenever I come across a writer like you with such excellent "show, don't tell" skills, I always make sure to make my appreciation shown. ❤️
Another thing I love about your story is the OC.😭 God, I love her so much. She is everything I've wanted to see in a fic that involves the Bonten Executives. She's a badass, she's feisty, and she perfectly fits right in with the other characters. I could just cry with how perfect she is in my opinion and you made that happen.😭❤️ I'm very satisfied with her character and I want to thank you again because I just know that if I did followed up on my need to write my own fic despite my inexperience, I just know that I'll end up disappointing myself and possibly even hate the plot idea because I was not able to meet my own expectations so thank you, thank you, thank you.❤️
She is amazing. You are amazing. Your whole fic is super amazing. I am glad and relieved that I don't have to write my own because yours already exists and it's so perfect.🤧
A female Bonten Executive, and the only female one at that.🥺🤧😭 I am so incredibly happy that the idea is finally out there and someone finally wrote it and that someone is also such a good writer. 🙌🏼
Kudos to you and I hope I can do more than just read and then say thanks. I believe you deserve more than that because I've been looking for this exact content you made and I've been looking for days. And now that I found one, even just the one, I'm relieved because it's already perfect on its own.😌
It's possible that it would take a long time for other writers to write something like this: a female OC that involves the Bonten Executives, my favorite flavor.🤧 It makes me sad, but no matter. I don't mind if I have to reread Songs About Toxic People again and again and again like how Sanzu takes drugs I'M SORRY for a long while because it's enough to satisfy my hunger and my thirst for the time being.❤️
Wow. This got super long. My bad. 😅 I did not mean for this to happen. I hope you don't mind this long ass appreciation message. I love leaving this kind of messages to writers like you.😊
Anyways, yeah. I just came here to tell you that. I hope you're having an amazing day and that you're safe wherever you are. Please take care of yourself. I'm looking forward to more of your works and what you can come up with. I am super excited! 😁
Best of luck and God bless.

helloooo :”( this one took me a quite a while to answer because i just couldn’t stop gushing whenever i’d open my inbox huhuhu but you have no idea how much this truly means to me and i wish i can write better words at explaining how this made me feel. <3
first of all, your obsession with the bonten executives is COMPLETELY understandable i’m literally on the same boat as you my friend hahaha with sanzu being my main guy <3 they’re just so hot and dangerous but i also think there’s something kinda funny with all those guys being together LMAO (especially sanzu and the haitanis…add in a dead-eyed manjiro omg..)
just like you i am quite sad about the lack of content on them hahahaha it’s the main reason why i started writing about them in the first place, actually! (also because i'm just obsessed with sanzu) but that was more at the beginning when i still mostly relied on ao3, and then i got more active on tumblr and now literally everyday there’s new fics about them and that makes me extremely happy 🥺 i always did think that the bonten executive OC would make for such a nice flavor so i just latched on to the idea, and i also wanted to keep it a little more casual because i’m not the best with dark themes hahaha but it also helps me imagine the bonten execs in friendlier, more human, more everyday settings—a very fun exercise when you can’t stop thinking about them!
i am beyond happy knowing that you’re enjoying my fic to the point of sending me this lengthy message (whose length i don’t mind at all!!!) 😭 painting a picture with words is one of my favorite things ever when it comes to writing and i just…tear up when people enjoy my descriptions and the interactions and the little details huhuhuhu you have no idea. i didn’t even know i was doing a ‘show, don’t tell’ manner of writing until you pointed it out, so i gotta thank you for this cause it made me think more about how i write (in a good way!), so thank you, i super appreciate it.
i also hope you do get to write if ever you wanna! manifest the things you’d like to see in the world—something like that! hahahaha but also yeah, it can be fun and the possibilities are endless and it’s fanfiction so you can always do you <3
again, this really just made my day and i’ve saved it to my notes to read for when i’m feeling meh hahaha. i gotta say in advance tho that my updates might not come as regularly as before cus (1) life and also (2) need ken wakui to reveal more about my favorite bad boy sanzu LOL so we get to know him better.
and here’s to hoping more people write about oc’s that are bonten execs! so you’d get to have your share of this genre of bonten fic! hehehe you deserve it <3
THANK YOU SO MUCH, i hope you’ll have a nice day too 🥺 and take caaaaare. MWAH.
ps. oh yes, you’re right! english is not my first language hahaha.

The shout out was SO cute. I cannot tell you how honoured I am that you mentioned me 💕
Sutton was also my fav character from the show, and when it came to the choices they made with her... well, let's just say that I have questions but even more so I have complaints
Girl, I'm so relieved to find out the reference wasn't in this one. I went full clown swiftie looking for clues that aren't there with this one. New Year like the song??? Them facetiming because "a tiny screen's the only place I see you now"??? Benji was previously mentioned but maybe I didn't pay enough attention then??? I even read the chapter twice because the first time I did so was late and I figured maybe it passed over my head eventhough I'm a radar for all things related to her. I'm already excited about the next chapter, but knowing the reference is going to be there will be an extra treat for me. You don't have to, but I cannot explain how much it means that you go out of your way to include it. That's so lovely of you 💕💕💕
Her lyrics do fit Penelope so well. The thing about Mr. Perfectly Fine is that I can't listen to it or even read the name of the song without remembering Sophie Turner's insta story. That's when I snort. Even when you associated it in the fic with the incident, I was still amused. Blessed be female friendships
I love mutual pining and angst, as long as there's a happy ending. I'm not suffering in vain. Possibly the only fic that I've read that ends in tragedy, was the one you wrote about Colin being too late. It made me feel things, mostly sad ones. Even at that, I thought you did a great job at exploring the plot, that could have been a possible outcome if someone else would have courted her. I think I've read it like three times? But then i go and revist fluffy fics to make myself feel better. You know, for self care purposes
Your efforts not only show, but they also pay off. The fic is so enjoyable and it's very impressive how you manage to pack a whole plot on short text messages. I love it so much. As for rereading your fics, the thing is, they bring me comfort, WCBCR especially. Polin, in case it wasn't obvious, is my fav couple of the books and your fic is what I would have liked the book to be like. I mentioned it in a previous ask, that for me it just makes more sense than the original story (no disrespec to JQ). I go through all the emotions when I read it and aren't we all in need of that? I'm truly thankful that you continously decide to share your talent with us ordinary mortals, we are not worthy 💕💕💕
Now, on today's episode of me projecting my life on your fics, I also picked up crochet and am watching reruns, just that in my case is of Teen Wolf. The only thing I'm lacking is a cute guy to be in love with me. I'm cool with that though, we're still in a pandemic and I don't want people to get near me
AND YESSS! WHAT? IS? SHE? PLAYING? AT? This is the chaos era, but I'll enjoy it as long as she keeps giving us stuff. Between her releases and your updates, the serotonin won't stop coming my way
[I COMPLETELY FORGOT TO SAY I DID CATCH THE LIZZIE MCGUIRE REFERENCE. YOUR FICS ARE WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF (I had to, you know I had to)]
- YOU ARE SO CUTE. These messages give me life and you're just the best
- yeah Sutton and Richard were so good that they just decided to make up problems for them and just... fixed it without actually fixing anything it was rude
- no I'm so sorry you had the stress of going through it again!! I even read through it because I was like "wait what was the reference I put in there" cause I wrote my tags so long ago 💀this certain reference is from one of my favorite TS songs and it's such a Polin song and I know you won't miss it!
- Sophie Turner posting a screenshot of Mr. Perfectly Fine was iconic. Miss queen is iconic for that and I love any woman who clowns her husband
- I can't believe that the only fic without a happy ending you've read is mine AND that you've read it multiple times... Like oh my god that's so overwhelmingly heartwarming. I actually love that story and don't mind at all when people don't want to read it (hence why I was so clear in the tags), but knowing people like it even despite the ending is so wnejfnasjkdfnskfd
- STOP you're honestly so kind I'm basically crying while reading your message. I wrote WCBCR so completely on a whim and that the fact that it became 100k is maddening and even more maddening is that people use it as their comfort fic. ACK I constantly am going between missing writing it and being so relieved that it's done
- no literally re: Penelope spending her life in quarantine is literally just what I did. I watched Love Island and learned how to crochet. However, I too was lacking a cute male (and a cat 😭)
- she's actually crazy and being a stan is so tiring and I'm not even one of the ones that deciphers her codes
- OH THE LIZZIE MCGUIRE REF. I actually went to Italy 2 years ago and basically word-for-word copied the Instagram caption from my own post 🤪ANYWAY ILY FOR CATCHING THAT
