Note
In my head, you’re a Magnus Archives blog. I mean, I know you obviously listen to other things, but In my mind it’s things like Welcome to Nightvale, Malevolent, Hello from the Hallowoods, The Sheridan Tapes, things like that, horror and supernatural.
So I had to do a double-take when I saw a Dungeons and Daddies post from you, I really didn’t know you listened to it. Then I see you reblog a Fawx and Stallion post, and now I’m just wondering how many podcasts you’ve listened to that I’ve also listened to.
Hahaha yes this blog has been mainly for tma stuff for years now, I still feel like I'm new to the fandom but honestly I've been here through a lot of it since the beginning of season 5
Buuuuut in the past few months I've stopped going into the tma tag regularly and been feeling a little detached from it, at least as opposed to before. My listen to tmagp has been way less interactive and I hardly reblog content anymore (which is something I like doing but because of various bad experiences on the internet recently I have yet to recover from I feel safer posting my own original posts rather than reblogging)
And that freed up a space in my mind to realize I've actually been listening to a lot of podcasts besides tma and it's honestly a shame not to talk about them more with others
I do listen to a lot of horror fantasy supernatural and science fiction podcasts! I also love a lot of dnd and ttrpg podcasts, I also love everything dropout and wish I could get into critical role but it's so big I don't think I'll manage it
I put under the cut a (quite long) list of the podcasts I have listened to and/or have notifications turned on
Anyone following me, you're welcome to send me an ask about one of them if you like them as well or want to hear about them!
I also put a list of podcasts on my to listen to list. Feel free to drop a recommendation for which them to listen to first!

audio drama thingy: "What’s the first audio drama you ever listened to?", "What’s your favourite completed show?" and "What’s a role you heard an actor you know in, but almost didn’t recognise them?"
Oh, thank you so much!
First audio drama: The first podcast I ever listened to was The Adventure Zone, which isn't an audio drama but was definitely what got me into listening to things. The first actual audio drama I listened to was the Penumbra Podcast, but I don't listen to it anymore.
You may be surprised the answer isn't WTNV, so I have to make my dark confession: I have never listened to WTNV. I tried the first few episodes when it first came out, but I was in high school and didn't have a smart phone (unthinkable now haha) so I couldn't listen on my commute and wasn't (and still am not) good at just sitting and listening to things without something to do with my hands. I really should though because I'm 100% sure I'll love it.
Very, very technically, you could count Cabin Pressure as the first audio drama like thing I listened to, but that was so long ago lol.
Favorite completed show: I had to think about this a lot before answering. I think, top to bottom, my favorite is Wolf 359. I know, that's an obvious answer, but it's just so good. I love how the story is paced and the plot beats and how the characters feel and breathe. Zach Velenti and Michaela Swee especially give phenomenal performances. Runner up is The Magnus Archives, of course, which has higher highs than Wolf 359 for me but also lower lows.
Role I heard and actor in but almost didn't recognize them: Jordan Cobb as Valiance Johnson in Greater Boston! The episode she was introduced in I was so distracted the entire bike ride home because I just knew I heard her voice before but couldn't place it. I later looked it up and I recognized her as Jackie Williams in The Amelia Project. I think Amelia was either on hiatus or I hadn't listened in a bit so I didn't recognize her at the time. She's absolutely phenomenal in both roles.

Here, Have Some Characters!
We're just gonna finally go ahead with our fun little bracket! We've got 23 characters, so the one character (Glenn Close) who got multiple nominations will get to skip round 1, and the finals will be a three way poll. I'm still determining how random to go for pairings, since there's a wide range of source material, but I'll have those out soon! For now, here are our competitors:
Annie (Skullgirls)
Brightheart (Warrior Cats)
Captain Typho (Star Wars)
Dark Choco Cookie (Cookie Run)
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu (Danganronpa)
Glenn Close (Dungeons & Daddies)
Hero of Shade (Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess)
Hua Cheng (Tian Guan Ci Fu)
Juno Steel (The Penumbra Podcast)
Laura Kearney (The Quarry)
Lila Bard (Shades of Magic trilogy)
Magnus Hammersmith I (Metalocalypse)
Merle Highchurch (The Adventure Zone - Balance)
Mr. Fischoeder (Bob's Burgers)
Odin (Norse mythology)
Qifrey (Witch Hat Atelier)
Rose Wilson (DC Comics)
Roy Mustang (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop)
Tengen Uzui (Demon Slayer/Kimestu no Yaiba)
The One-Eyed, One-Horned, Flying Purple People Eater (song by Sheb Wooley)
Tyson (Percy Jackson & The Olympians)
Zuko (Avatar The Last Airbender)
Thanks for finding this and sending some people in! Like I said, I'm just trying to find a good balance between random and not pitting obscure characters against ones from giant well known things right off the bat, but hopefully I'll sort that out and have a bracket soon, then the fun can begin! :)

matters of the heart
“Sir Caroline, I must ask your advice in an important matter.”
“You don’t have to call me ‘Sir’ anymore, Angelo. We’ve been over this.”
“Excuse me, Caroline. Now, this important matter—“
“Is this about Ale? Because, and I cannot stress this enough, I do not want to hear anything about your love life, Angelo.”
Angelo has to admit that this is not the way he had hoped the conversation to go. He feels himself deflate a little as he looks at Caroline’s disapproving face.
“But S—Caroline, I wouldn’t know who else to ask! Usually my best friend and former rival would be my first choice, but he’s not available at the moment.”
Caroline looks at him for a moment then sighs, lowering her head into her hands for a heartbeat before looking up at him again.
“Fine. Just this once. Next time you can just write Damien a letter.”
 “Yes, Sir—I mean. Yes, Caroline.”
 Caroline starts massaging her temple.
“So. Spit it out. What is it?”
“I almost can’t believe that I am saying this—truly, I think it is the first time I understand my friend Damien. I must speak my heart—“
 “Oh, for the love of—“
“You are married to Miss Quanyii, are you not, Caroline?”
“Yes, I am. What does that have to do with anything?”
“So you must be well-versed in matters of the heart! How did you court your wife? I admit, I have never attempted this before and I have no idea how to go about courting a man—“
“And why should it be different than courting a woman, Angelo?”
Angelo pauses for a second. It was brought to his attention many times now that the distinctions between men and women he has learned about all his life might not actually be as accurate as many people make them out to be. Truly, Caroline is the best example. And now he has met Ale and Miss Quanyii, who is sometimes not Miss Quanyii but Mr Quanyii.
 Angelo considers Caroline’s words.
“So you’re saying I should court Ale in the exact same way I would court a woman”, he says.
 Caroline rolls her eyes.
“I do not see how gender has anything to do with this, Angelo. The way you court a person depends on the person. Not all women care for flowers and candles and love letters. I have no idea what Ale would prefer as courting; maybe he doesn’t want to be courted at all.”
“Like Sir Talfryn, yes. I have learned about this. You are correct, Caroline and I am glad to have asked you. I shall speak to Ale about this to make sure that I am not overstepping any boundaries! I thank you for your wisdom! Hophophophophophop.”
 *
Angelo is not afraid of anything.
He’s not afraid of pain or fighting or dying or even things as complicated as numbers even though he is not very good at them. But when he finds Ale sitting next to Olala, showing her how to start a campfire with her little hands, something tightens in Angelo’s chest and all he can do is stare.
Ale is beautiful. Dark skin, long hair, big eyes and long lashes, a soft smile as he tells little Olala that she’s doing well.
Angelo feels his stomach drop; a sensation that is very similar to falling and his heart beats so rapidly in his chest that he has trouble breathing for a moment.
Maybe he should have rehearsed this. Maybe it would be better if little Olala was not there with Ale. Maybe he was hasty when he concluded that speaking directly to Ale would be the best course of action. A warrior’s approach. Head on. The same way he always approaches difficulties.
Ale looks up when he notices Angelo and he flashes him a grin that makes Angelo’s insides squirm around like very lively snakes. Saints, if he starts using more metaphors for how Ale makes him feel he might turn into Damien before he knows it.
“Hey schoolboy, what can we do for you?”
Angelo isn’t sure why it makes him feel warm and tingly when Ale calls him ‘schoolboy’, but it absolutely does.
 He clears his throat.
 “I was about to—hm. Well.”
Angelo wishes Damien were here so he could tell him how to find the right words for this. Damien has such a knack for language and beautiful words, while Angelo—well. Angelo has never in his life understood one poem that Damien showed to him.
“We’re making fire, Sir Angelo! I made a small flame, all without magic! Look!”, Olala proclaims excitedly and waves at the little wisp of smoke her efforts have conjured.
“Very good, Olala. I—uh. I must take my leave.”
And for the first time in his life, Sir Angelo The Strong turns around and flees.
 *
 “Aw, Angelo, what is it?”
Angelo looks up as Quanyii appears out of nowhere right beside him.
“I am afraid that I have become a coward, Miss Quanyii”, he says as he looks down at his big hands.
“I highly doubt that, sweetie. Is this about our beautiful vigilante boy?”, Quanyii wants to know as she scoots closer to Angelo, her colorful hair surrounding her head like a cloud.
“Yes. I have spoken to Si—to Caroline about this and she gave me important insight on the matter of courting rituals.”
“She did?”, Quanyii asks, sounding surprised.
“Yes. She explained that courting is not a matter of gender but of the individual’s personality. She also pointed out that Ale might have no interest in romantic relationships which I had not considered before.”
Quanyii puts her index finger to her lips and taps them thoughtfully.
“Yes, yes, such wisdom. But have you considered asking me about this? Romance is a magical thing after all and sweetheart, I’m a witch! Caroline doesn’t know one itsy-bitsy thing about romance, let me tell you that”, Quanyii says and pouts a little.
 Angelo raises his head.
“So you would help me in this quest to court Ale?”, he asks. The grin that spreads on Quanyii’s face makes Angelo pause. This might not be a good idea.
“Oh, sweetie, don’t you worry your silly little head. I will give you one tip for free because we have become such good friends during those past few weeks! I know a little secret and that is that Ale does like romance!”
Angelo feels his face light up with a smile as relief courses through his entire body. He feels like he could do a hundred push-ups right here and now. Maybe even lift Porthos. Or the whole, fallen tree he’s sitting on.
“Why thank you, Miss Quanyii, that is most helpful!”
He grabs both of her hands and shakes them as Quanyii giggles.
“You are so very welcome, Angelo. For every other piece of help I’m going to require a little bit of payment. A witch has to make do, you know.”
Angelo doesn’t really understand but he nods anyway and gets up from the fallen tree trunk.
“I do not believe that I will need further assistance, now that the issue of romantic attraction has been resolved! Sir Angelo The Strong is back on his feet! Ha ha! Hophophophophophop.”
“Good luck, brave knight!”, Quanyii calls after him as Angelo runs back towards the camp.
 *
Now that Angelo knows that Ale is not generally opposed to romance the path seems clear. That is, at least until Angelo arrives back at the place where Ale and Olala made their little fire before.
The two of them are still there, but both of them are asleep. Ale is sitting with his back against a tree, his legs spread, and Olala has curled up between his legs, her tail gently snoring. Caroline sits by the fire and sharpens her blade.
She looks up as Angelo enters the clearing.
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost, Angelo”, she says as Angelo stares at Ale’s sleeping form. His long lashes are feathered out on his cheeks and for a second Angelo imagines to brush his fingers over Ale’s cheek and give him a kiss.
The thought immediately sends his heart into another gallop that would make Porthos proud and Angelo swallows heavily.
“I cannot report any ghost sightings at this point, Sir—I mean. Caroline.”
Angelo notices how Caroline’s eyes narrow as she looks him up and down and since Caroline has stated that she has no interest to know anything about Angelo’s love life he tries very hard to respect her wishes and to not look at Ale as if he’s the most beautiful thing that Angelo has ever seen.
 Which he very definitely is.
“Oh for fuck’s sake, sit down, you oaf”, Caroline snaps and Angelo, still as an automatic response to her authoritative voice, walks over to the fire and sits down next to her.
“Did you talk to Quanyii?”, she wants to know.
“Yes. She cleared up a question I had and I thought it would make things easier, but as it turns out, it did not.”
“I wouldn’t make any deals with her, witches are fickle and cunning creatures.”
 “Babe, you’re being so mean!”
“Oh, shut it. You know it’s true.”
“Yes, but when you say it like that it’s mean, mean, mean!”
Angelo watches them bicker for a while before his eyes drift back over to Ale and Olala. Ale’s hand is resting on Olala’s back and Angelo looks at it for a while. Ale’s hand is much smaller than his and Angelo wonders what it would feel like to hold it. It must be rough from all the sword-fighting, much like Angelo’s hand.
Maybe Ale doesn’t have any interest in holding Angelo’s hand. Maybe Ale doesn’t like men.
“What is it now, Angelo”, Caroline asks with an expression on her face that says she might regret asking.
“I forgot to consider another important thing regarding this whole courting business”, Angelo says and looks at Caroline. Quanyii seems to have vanished into thin air—something Angelo has seen happening multiple times during those last few weeks.
 “Which is?”
“You made me aware of the possibility of Ale being averse to romantic relationships, but I forgot to consider whether or not Ale would be opposed to romantic relationships to men. I only ever knew one man who liked another man. Lizard. Does it count as a man if it is a lizard? I certainly don’t know. My point stands, though.”
Caroline sighs deeply and cards through her short her.
“It seems highly unlike you to ask all these questions instead of simply acting, Angelo”, she says and looks at him with a stern gaze.
 Angelo sighs.
“Yes, I know. I am afraid I have found my most lethal opponent yet! Matters of the heart! No monster could ever best me in combat, but my own heart is betraying me.”
Caroline puts her blade to the side and leans forward, her elbows resting on her knees as she looks at Angelo with her piercing eyes.
“Just talk to him. It’s that easy. No one can ever truly know another person’s heart or thoughts unless they speak them out loud.”
“Unless you’re a witch”, comes a disembodied sing-song from somewhere above them.
“Unless you’re a witch in which case you should stay out of people’s heads”, Caroline barks up the tree and looks back at Angelo.
“I cannot believe that I should turn into a coward for something as simple as talking. It seems highly ridiculous.”
 Caroline shrugs.
“Emotions are hard. And I... understand your hesitance. But you should not let your feelings rule over your rational thoughts.”
“That is a very Caroline thing to say, Sir Caroline.”
 “Stop calling me ‘Sir’ already!”
 “Certainly, Sir Caroline.”
 “Ugh.”
 *
“Ale, can I ask you a personal question?”
“You can ask anything you want, schoolboy. I can decide whether or not I want to answer.”
“Oh—yes. That is very reasonable. Thank you. Uh—“
“Sir knight, are you alright? Did you get sunburnt? Sir Caroline says it is important to not stay outside in the sun for too long!”
“I am not sunburnt, little Olala.”
“Ask your question, schoolboy. Is this about gender again?”
“Uh—no. Not—huh. I suppose it is! But not in the way you think!”
 “Well then, shoot.”
“This is more about the genders of others, I suppose! A potential paramour, one might say! I have a friend who has a fiancée but who is also involved with a man. Lizard. Male lizard? I am not entirely certain about the lizard’s gender and I was told not to assume. Anyway. What I wanted to ask—“
“You want to know if I like lizards?”
 “No, that’s not—“
“I was joking, schoolboy. Calm down. You want to know what kind of people I’m attracted to.”
 “Yes.”
“I don’t much care about gender, but it doesn’t happen often that I’m attracted to people. Either romantically or sexually.”
 “Oh.”
“I just don’t fall in love easily. And I don’t find many people hot.”
 “Hm.”
 “Any more questions?”
“Yes, but I am afraid they would be borderline offensive and highly invasive.”
“Well then. Let’s keep it at that, schoolboy.”
 *
“Sir knight, are you feeling okay?”
 “Yes, little Olala.”
“It’s just that you are usually very loud but you have been very quiet for a while. I recently learned about heatstrokes and it sounds awful and I hope you don’t have a heatstroke, Sir knight.”
“I don’t think I have anything of the kind, Olala.”
Olala sits down next to Angelo. He’s leaning against Porthos who’s lying down and nibbling on some grass. Ale and Caroline are investigating something and since Angelo is not the best at clues he offered to stay behind to guard their belongings and also Olala.
“Most adults do not like to tell children why they’re sad. But if you wanted to, I would certainly listen.”
“That’s very kind of you, Olala. Have you ever liked someone?”
“Of course! I like so many people!”
“Ah, yes. Hm. And were you ever scared to tell any of these people that you like them?”
“No, Sir knight. I grew up in the Garden of Graves and we tended to the dead and my sisters always taught me that it is important to speak your heart while the people you love are alive, for you never know when they might die and then you can’t tell them anymore.”
 “That is... very wise, Olala.”
“Thank you, Sir knight! My sisters taught me a great many things and I am honored to pass their wisdom on to others.”
Angelo looks down at Olala’s small form and ruffles her hair.
“I will take it to heart!”, he promises.
 *
“Hey, Angelo. Can I talk to you for a moment?”
They make camp by a river and Caroline takes Olala for a bath. Angelo turns around to look at Ale, who tied his long braids into a top knot. He’s wearing a white tunic that is a little too big for him and allows Angelo a view of Ale’s collarbone.
Angelo tries very hard not to stare because he refuses to be disrespectful any more than he already was when they first met.
 “Of course, Ale.”
Ale looks at him. Angelo would never trust himself to read people’s behavior—that has never been his forté. But he could swear that Ale looks almost a bit nervous; something that Angelo hasn’t seen on him so far.
“So, remember that talk we had? About how I might like lizards or not?”, Ale begins and Angelo winces a little.
“It was poorly worded and I apologize—“
“It’s fine, Angelo. That’s not what this is about. But... you remember what I said. About not being attracted to people often?”
 “Yes. I remember.”
“Why did you want to know that?”
Angelo takes a deep breath and scratches the back of his head.
“I—uh. Well”, he starts, then doesn’t know how to continue. He remembers the talks he had with Caroline and Olala and straightens his back. Sir Angelo the Strong will not back down from a challenge. Any challenge!
“I would like to court you, Ale.”
Ale blinks. Once, twice, three times.
He opens his mouth, then closes it again.
 “You—what?”
“Courting. I would like to court you. Woo you. Win you over. In the romantic sense. But I was not sure if that was something that would make you uncomfortable, so I tried to figure out if you might be opposed against courtship. By men. Or anyone.”
Ale takes two steps towards him and Angelo has the great need to spread his arms and pull Ale close to him, but he doesn’t. He’s asking for permission and he will not ruin this by overstepping boundaries.
A slight chuckle pulls him back to reality and he sees Ale’s eyes twinkle, the corners of his lips turned upwards.
“Are you asking me on a date, schoolboy?”, Ale asks. His playful smile is doing things to Angelo he can’t describe because he is not Damien. But man, he almost feels the need to write a poem about that smile. That is how badly smitten he is with this wonderful, splendid man standing in front of him.
“I suppose so! Ale, will you allow me to take you on a date?”
Ale takes another step and raises his hand to softly flip one finger against Angelo’s forehead.
 “I thought you’d never ask.”

Second citadel and hmmm (spins wheel) pirate au?
hmmmmmmmmmm
the easy answer would be Arum as a pirate captain but if everyone is pirates i’m actually thinking a Very Cool Sea Monster who still lives in his mom-Keep, but like, she’s a rad coral structure now
Damien insists on calling him a siren. no one else seems affected by this ‘siren’
Marc: “I thought sirens were supposed to be, like, beautiful or something.”
Damien: *nearly bites his own tongue off because he almost just said out loud that the sea lizard is beautiful actually*
Talfryn is the most highly skilled navigator in the whole fuckin world, he could aim the ship right in a magically constructed fogbank meant to confuse (and has)
Damien……… singin’ sea shanties…………… leadin’ everyone in song, making the crew feel unified………..
Arum still kidnapped Rilla that one time, for sure. He also still let her go. she can low-key breathe underwater now and…. no one knows what’s up with that
there is a creature out there. the waters are not safe- the waters were never safe, but now ships drift back empty of crew but replete with evidence of conflict. there is never any damage to the ships, never evidence of attack from the outside. the crews are destroying themselves, their centers do not hold, and pirate!99 needs to find a way to stop it
[send me an au and i’ll give you 5+ headcanons about it]

Raise your hand if you've ever: A: been so traumatized by the events of your podcast that you listen to the soul shattering event repeatedly (if not the entire episode). B: replay old episodes to cope, only to further traumatize yourself. C: put off listening to a new episode because your soul has not had enough time to recover from the last one, or cannot handle the impending hell storm. D: physically stopped everything while trying to come to terms with what just happened. or E: all of the above

Hello, can I get a ship? I just wanted to say off the bat that I use he/him pronouns and for the most part identify as a guy, so idk if that changes weather or not I'm elegable for this, but ig I'll shoot my shot anyways. I'm 5'1, a cancer, I love folk music, my favorite color is green especially a good sage green or dark royal green, I love shows like what we do in the shadows, criminal minds and american horror story, my favorite song atm is Sugar in a Bowl by Of Monsters and Men or Rich Girl by Hall & Oats but it changes a lot, I also really love King And Lionheart by Of Monsters and Men, I love DND and fantasy and writing for stuff like that, I also like auto drama podcasts like The Penumbra Podcast and The Two Princes, I also like a good dnd podcast here and there like The Adventure Zone, I can play the ukulele, my friends are my favorite thing in the whole world, I'm ok the chubbier side and have a fashion since that's kinda folky bit changes between masculine and feminine a lot, I had add and have been wondering if Ihave autism as well, idk what else to put so yeah I hope that's enough, thank you! 💖
Of course you can!! Absolutely all are welcome on this blog! Thank you so much for submitting!
❤: you sound like such a fun person! What We Do In The Shadows is one of the funniest shows i've seen, and i dont know anyone else who watches it so lets be friends? You seem like you have such a great imagination and creative soul! The fact that you cherish your friends so much is so so sweet, i feel like you are the kind of person that makes people feel special and loved, and we need more people like you in the world!
Ship: Josh 💎
Tumblr media
Because: i can just see that he would match your love for fantasy and imagination! Like how cute would it be to start a new DND campaign with him! He'd definitely be the one to get really excited and jump around when you kill a powerful monster! I think he would really appreciate your taste in music, and would love your fashion sense because i could see that you two would compliment each others style so well because he also dresses kinda folky! I can just imagine you playing the ukulele and him looking at you dotingly at how adorable his person is then he'll end up singing along with his head in your lap while you're strumming the notes of all the songs you know! In short, he's obsessed with you
Scenario:
You're lying on the couch, watching Criminal Minds
it's at the juicy bit where they finally uncover the perpetrator
when Josh comes bouncing in through the front door, completely distracting you from the reveal you've been waiting a whole half hour for
"Guess what i saw that made me think of you" he'd say as he walks in front of the TV
he pulls out a beautiful black wide brimmed hat with feathers on the side tied tight with a leather band from a paper shopping bag
you stand up and take the hat from him, trying it on in the mirror
he stands beside you with his finger nail between his teeth
he really wants you to like it. he saw it in a shop window and knew that you needed to have it, it was yours before he even bought it
you did love it, it sat perfectly and framed your face like artwork
you had mentioned a few weeks before that the one you always wear was getting old and torn, and you were so touched that he remembered all these days later
you grabbed his hand that was still hovering around his mouth and tell him how much you love it
his eyes beam with happiness and a big smile spreads across his face.
he cups your cheeks and brings you in for a kiss
"oh i almost forgot!"
he goes back to the bag that he left on the floor and pulls out a duplicate of the hat he bought you
"i bought myself one too, so we can be matching"
you immediately blush.
he's so adorable
you finish your day with a few more episodes of Criminal Minds with Josh beside you critiquing the film work
you laugh to yourself
you wouldn't want it any other way
Thank you for all the support! I hope you liked it!

🕹What have I NOT done while listening to podcasts? The list would be shorter! I've cleand the couse, done the dishes, temporized subtitles, showered, traveled on bus, train, car, on foot, gone hiking. I've knited and crotcheted! This is my current podcast-listening production:
Tumblr media
H 🏝 Ok, a month. My phone battery won't last a month! but let's say it does. Hm, some actual play I've never listened to before, like... The Adventure Zone, that should keep me bussy for a few days, if only bc of the lenght of the episodes! Then, Monstrous Agonies, because It keeps me calm like nobody's business. And then Welcome to Night Vale. Becuse maybe then I'd be able to catch up to the latest one. (Did you guys see the thing with Khoshekh?? O_o)
🎙uuuuuuu, yeah, Noah Simes. No question. He just has that that tilt to his voice and by the time I catch myself I'm grining and ready to do mischief. Then again H.R Owen has also such a lovely lovely voice as the presenter and babey the range is just outstanding! Not to mention the many many things done beside voice acting. And Ben Meredith and Tim Meredith... Look, if you are going to make me choose just one I'll say Noah, but I won't be happy about getting just one.
🐧 Ha! Timeout for Rudyard Funn! I have not listened yet to the latest season, but I wanted to put him in timeout through the lasts seasons, and he doesn't strike me as the kind of person who changes much. He is just that kind of comedy character who makes me actually stop the player and go hide my head in a bucket to calm down.
📎I have listened to a few of them more than 3 times; most of the time to try and translate them. Penumbra Podcast comes to mind, the first episode, I tried to make video subtitles with colours for each character. So that one I played, and played and played, ad nauseam. I'd still take it with me to a desert island though. I can't get tired of it.

in no particular order whatsoever, I present you some good queer media: ((very minor spoilers for some things))
- black sails! it's a series, 4 seasons, 30 something episodes total, I haven't watched it yet but someone just recommend it to me and it sounds amazing. they're pirates, it's got a lot of queer characters, characters of color, and it deals (really fucking well, from what I heard) with topics of racism, misogyny, cissexism, poverty and how all of these relate and how systems oppress marginalized people and a bunch of other stuff. there's also at least two different poly relationships (a triad and a V). also it's got legit really fucking good writing, like legit legit good.
- the penumbra podcast!! I have listened to this one and it's a fucking masterpiece. it's got two main storylines; the first one (Junoverse) is a noir detective type but it's in Mars in the future (with a non-binary he/him bisexual lady as a main character and it deals (really well) with a lot of mental health issues, mainly depression) and it turns into space pirates in the third season and I think there's only one canon cis/straight person in the whole thing everyone else is queer and the other main storyline (Second Citadel) is more classic fantasy knights and monsters with a lot of questions of morality and "what's really a monster" and a poly relationship (and scaley monsterfuckers) and honestly a lot of queer characters
- Welcome To Night Vale!! I feel like this would be right up your street, honestly. it's a podcast, it follows a radio show from this town, Night Vale, where a lot of really weird supernatural shit happens, and the radio host, Cecil telling us (the town) about what's up. it's really fun and weird, it's not scary at all if that's a concern, it's very explicitly queer (in the very first episode Cecil falls in love with a man and tells the whole town about it) and it depicts a very healthy gay couple and great character development and it's honestly really fun, you get to know a lot of the townfolk and their stories and it's great
- The Adventure Zone! it's an actual play podcast, the McElroy brothers (you may know them?) and their dad play d&d. they just finished their third campaign and are starting the 4th one this week I think. the first campaign is by far my favourite. it starts kinda rough, they're playing dnd for the first time and the story and characters are pretty weak, but by the third or fourth arc you can tell how much they've learnt in the process. the fourth arc is where the story starts picking up and by the end (there's 69 (ha) episodes divided into 8 or 9 arcs) you'll be sobbing your eyes out for the last ten episodes. it's classic dnd fantasy stuff with at least three explicitly queer relationships (one of the main characters is gay and in a relationship) and w at least one explicitly trans character. it was their first time, they tried and did fairly well tbh. the second campaign is shorter, settled in modern real life Kepler, West Virginia where basically cryptids are real and the main three kill monsters in a monster of the week type of thing. (one of the main three is bi and in a queer relationship, there's one nb they/them character). and the third campaign just finished, it's real fun too, three college students of a heroes and villains school, in a (fantasy) world where heroes and villains are like A Thing and The System sucks and the message is basically to overthrow capitalism lmao
I swear I consume more media than just podcast but rn I just can't think of any...
also not exactly queer media but:
- Phineas and Ferb, it's a classic, you probably watched it on TV as a kid (I did) but it merits a rewatch
- Gravity Falls, same thing, I'm still not over how fucking good this show is
- Steve Universe, I know things got heated up in the fandom at some point but I ignored the fuck out of everyone and enjoyed it anyways because it's good
- how to train your dragon, they're all good okay, they are, watch them again
- Big Mouth. you're like 15 right? you can watch big mouth, I highly recommend it, it's really good. it's for some queer characters but they're even the main focus of some episodes/storylines, but it doesn't even matter, the whole series is just really good.
- Megamind, it's probably better than you remember
- also, you're into star trek right? have you watched discovery? I haven't watched s3 yet but it's good
I went completely off the rails halfway through this but still, hope you check out some new thing!! (and if you do post about it, I wanna know) (also can you guess who I am? I feel like it's kinda obvious sjsksk)
- j
Thank you!!! I really like WTNV, and I've been meaning to watch/listen to those other ones! And I never actually watched Phineas and Ferb, but I've heard it's good. Gravity Falls and Steven Universe are both on my list! And I hella hyperfixated on HTTYD in sixth grade. Megamind is amazing!!!!! And I sadly can't watch Disco cuz I don't have Paramount+, but I wish I could!
And surprisingly I can't guess who you are but that's probably due to me being a dumbass who can't really tell typing styles apart

Hello I love your penumbra art and I showed some to my friend who finally started listening to Juno Steel and she said that she's been enjoying penumbra fanart but keeps on seeing fantastic Peter designs and then having to ask where his pockets are. This is not at all a criticism I just needed to share the thought because now I'm wondering too
OKAY THAT IS A GREAT QUESTION so here’s a trio of highly unlikely options for your consideration (put into fic format by someone who has little to no experience writing fic and is, to be completely honest, miles outside of their comfort zone):
nureyev’s pockets contain a - for the lack of a better word - pocket dimension
“You’re full of shit, Steel,” Vespa says. “If you wanna brag about sticking your hands down the thief’s pants, go find someone else to do it to.”
And really, Juno has been at the business end of Vespa’s blade before, but twice in one morning is probably a new record. He bristles. “Okay, first of all, would it really kill you to not wave your knife at me every single time we’re in a room together? Can’t we have one conversation where this doesn’t happen?”
“You started it! You got your finger all up in my face!”
“Yeah, well, my finger doesn’t have a long and celebrated history of gutting people when-”
“Keep it civil, sweethearts,” Buddy says from the other side from their makeshift recreation room, where she and Jet are playing a game Juno has never heard of involving a set of oddly shaped dice, some old Uno cards, and, inexplicably, a pineapple. Vespa moves to sheathe the knife, but makes a whole show out of doing it without averting her icy stare for even a split second. Juno has to suppress the fleeting urge to do something petty and potentially life-threatening, like sticking out his tongue at her.
“Second of all,” he continues, his voice only slightly lowered, “you asked! You asked me about Ransom’s - about his pocket situation, I’m just telling you what I know. And for the record, I never said anything about anyone’s pants. Or where I’m sticking my hands. Or, you know, whatever. Shut up.”
Vespa still hasn’t broken eye contact. “No, Steel,” she says, “I asked you how the thief managed to get an entire cupboard worth of Ming dynasty porcelain off of Titan and onto our ship. What you’re telling me is that he has magical mega pockets that are bigger on the inside, which isn’t a thing.”
“That’s what I used to think about teleportation, and mind reading, but here we are.” The truth is that the porcelain thing is a mystery to Juno as well. He has asked Nureyev, of course, but all he got in response was a that’s for me to know and for you to figure out, isn’t it, detective, which is more than a little annoying. “All I’m saying is that it could be an option. Don’t rule it out just yet.”
“I’ll believe it when I see it,” Vespa says. “Ask him to pull, I don’t know, a live rabbit out of his breast pocket, and maybe I’ll buy into it.”
Juno has to roll his eye at that, and immediatey realizes he’s lost their little staring match. Not that it matters - the odds were stacked against him from the get-go anyway, with Vespa having a whole extra eye to look pissed off with. “Fine, whatever. But just for the record - have you seen a rabbit lately? Because I can guarantee you those things won’t go down or come out of anyone’s pocket willingly, regardless of pocket size.”
It might be a trick of the light, but for a brief moment, he thinks he sees the corner of Vespa’s mouth quirk up just a little.
a strategy once used by juno himself: Just Put It In Your Mouth! it’s mother nature’s built-in pocket!
“Uh oh,” Nureyev says once Rita has successfully hacked the giant metal door to slam shut behind them and they’ve skidded to a halt. He tentatively presses a hand to his throat.
“What- are you-“ Juno wheezes from where he’s doubled over, "Are you okay? They didn’t hit you, right?”
Nureyev makes a dismissive fluttery motion with his free hand. “Nothing of the sort.”
Juno squints at him, giving him a once-over, and seems to sag with relief once he sees Nureyev is not actively bleeding. It’s a little bit endearing, Nureyev thinks. “Okay, whew, good,” he says. “So then - what’s the ‘uh oh’ for? We got the blueprints, we-”
“Let’s say,” Nureyev interrupts him, “hypothetically speaking, that there was some ancient and priceless treasure in the vault we took the blueprints from.”
“That’s not really a hypothetical,” Juno says. “There was enough old Earth monarchy junk in there to bedazzle the entire Carte Blanche with.”
"Right. And now let’s say, once again purely hypothetically,” Nureyev continues, “that someone with only the noblest of intentions noticed the Koh-I-Noor diamond among that treasure, and that that someone decided to free it from the monstrously tacky diadem contraption it was stuck onto, because it’s a waste for something like that to be gathering dust in a vault.”
“You know,” Juno says warily, “I’m not sure I like where this is going.”
“The problem is that this outfit, while very stealthy, does not provide a great amount of secure pocket space, so i had to improvise.”
“Oh no,” Juno says.
“So I put it in my mouth, but then the guards arrived and while we were running I-”
“Oh no,” Juno repeats, a little louder this time. “Ransom, you - did you eat the Koh-I-Noor?”
“I accidentally swallowed the Koh-I-Noor, there’s a difference-”
“You ate it. You- Ransom, who would even-”
“Who would even what, Juno” Nureyev interrupts him, “There’s this old saying, something about a pot and a kettle, I believe.”
Juno’s comms crackle to life. “RIGHT,” Rita chirps loudly, “I know the both of you are very busy talkin’ about who ate a conifer and why - and i’m not judgin’, mista Ransom, you eat your greens however you wanna! That’s what my mom told me that time I dipped my green beans in marshmallow fluff - which I wouldn’t recommend, by the way, at least not with the beans, it was a WHOLE mess. Maybe with some broccoli, though, or baby carrots, or - anyway, what I was gonna say is they’re about to crack this door open, so I’m just thinkin’, maybe now isn’t the best time for this conversation?”
“He didn’t eat a conifer, Rita, it’s - actually, don’t worry about it,” Juno says. “Let’s get moving. I’m sure Vespa can figure something out to make you hurl the thing up again. But for the record, Ransom, don’t expect me to ever let you hear the end of this.”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Nureyev replies. Juno grins a little, crooked and pretty, and Nureyev’s stomach almost somersaults enough to throw the stupid diamond out.
and lastly - why use your own pockets when you can use someone else’s?
“Nureyev,” Juno says against his neck, “can I ask you something?”
They’ve folded themselves onto Nureyev’s cot, neither of them up for more than just lazing around. Nureyev has been trying to study some floor plans for the last twenty minutes, but if he’s being honest with himself, he has no idea what building, owned by what person, built on which planet in whatever system he’s been looking at. He’s mostly been lost in thought, only grounded by the weight and warmth of Juno pressed against his side. He had thought the lady asleep until now.
It’s a little ridiculous, the effect his own name being spoken by Juno Steel has on him. He’s fairly sure that with Juno this close, he should be able to feel the shiver it sends down his spine, pick up on the stutter in his pulse. It’s okay if he does, he tries to tell himself, it’s okay, it’s only Juno - but at the same time Juno is infinitely, immeasurably more than 'only Juno’ to him.
“Of course,” he replies. “Anything, anytime.”
Juno hums. “Earlier, when we got back from the media bigwig backstabbing competition-”
“It was an award show, dear Juno.”
“I said what I said. Anyway, when we got back, there was something in my pocket that I definitely didn’t put there myself.”
Oh.
“A flash drive,” Juno continues, “that had the name ’M. Valderrama’ engraved into it. And a crazy amount of plastic rhinestones glued to it, but that’s not the point. I didn’t wanna risk it containing a virus and blowing up the ship, so I didn’t plug it into anything. But I did do my research, so I know Mignon Valderrama was at the backstabbing- I mean, the award show, and is the acclaimed director of titles such as ’The Notebook Part 44: This Time They’re All Ancient Mercurians’, the entire ’Ultra Magma Tsunami’ franchise, and the upcoming-”
“The upcoming blockbuster ’Cerebral Cephalopods: Rise of the Mathematician Octopi’,” Nureyev finishes.
Juno shifts against him. "Yeah, that’s the one. Didn’t know you were a fan.”
“Oh, I’m not,” Nureyev replies airily.
“Still,” Juno says, propping himself up on an elbow. “I have to wonder. How and why did mx. Valderrama’s flash drive, rhinestones and all, end up in my pocket?”
“Hmm. Would you believe me if I told you mx. Valderrama tripped, and the drive flew out of their pocket and into yours?”
Juno shakes his head. “C'mon, Nureyev.”
And for a moment, he hesitates. It’s not the best of stories. There’s no real noble, for-the-greater-good, Robin Hood-esque reason for him stealing the drive. He didn’t do it for the challenge, either - Valderrama might as well have presented it to him on a silver platter. Sure, he could make something up, spin a tale, make it sound big and impressive and sensible. But despite the alarm bells going off in his mind, he also thinks it might not be so bad to tell the truth, to bare his throat to Juno just a little. Of course, his own voice echoes, anything, anytime.
He sighs. “I might not be a fan, but I believe your secretary is. She’s been talking about those Magma Tsunami movies for days. They are horrible, by the way - she made me sit through two of them and I can’t believe I’m never getting those four hours of my life back. Valderrama should be liable for damages to my psyche. The drive, as you probably guessed, contains what I’m pretty sure is the final cut for whatever that octopus movie is supposed to be, so I snatched it up for her. My dress didn’t have any pockets, so I slipped it into one of yours. I must have forgotten to slip it out again.”
Juno frowns. “Wait - Rita? Did she ask you to? Because at this point i’m pretty sure she could hack into the studio’s servers in a heartbeat, and rip the whole thing-”
“She didn’t ask,” Nureyev says. “It was kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing. But she wouldn’t have been able to get her hands on this by hacking. Valderrama is famously paranoid about leaks. All of their works-in-progress are stored on only a handful of physical drives until the day of release. One of the drives goes into a vault with a nightmarishly difficult analogue lock, one goes to the executive producer, and Valderrama keeps one of them on their person at all times. I saw my chance, so I took it.”
“Huh,” Juno says, “that's… that’s kind of sweet of you, actually.” He prods Nureyev in the chest with a finger. “And very illegal, and you shouldn’t do it again. But still. That's… yeah. That’s sweet. She’s gonna be over the moon.”
That’s what he’d been hoping for. He smiles, shrugging a little. “We’re space pirates, Juno. Most of what we do is illegal. We got into the award party illegally, and for illegal reasons. Valderramma will make their billions with or without that drive. It’s just-” he sighs again, raking a hand through his hair. “Rita is very important to you, which - which makes her very important to me. She’s been there for you all these years, and she’s never been anything but kind to me either. I’m not trying to buy her friendship or her appreciation, I suppose I just… think she deserves something nice, especially if that something is within arm’s reach anyway. Even if that something is a movie about hyperintelligent squids taking over Mars’ moons.” He lets his head fall back into the pillows. “I know that might sound a little foolish.”
Juno leans into him a little more, cupping Nureyev’s jaw in his warm hand, looking a little bit puzzled and a lot fond. “I’m pretty sure you already know that I love your particular brand of foolish,” he says after a second.
And before Nureyev has the chance to think about what that means for too long, Juno is kissing him, wiping any semblance of thought from his mind.

So you seriously don’t know what podcast to listen to next? On tumblr? Alright…
Buckle up bc this is the storytelling fiction-podcast Megapost. These are all fiction podcasts that are not Talkshows or dnd podcasts, but storydriven. Some i have listened to, some I havent. Most, if not all of these, you can probably find on YouTube or Podbean.
DONE: (7)
These are podcasts that i have finished or caught up with as of March 2020. I can’t speak for newer seasons, but I’ll try to give an impression of them:
Welcome to Nightvale
(a classic and many people’s hook into podcasts. Tells the story of a strange desert town through local radio. Complete with all kind of LGBT+ representation, a gay canon main character, absolute weirdness and a lovably terrible antagonist, this still running podcast is an absolute must-try)
The Penumbra Podcast, Juno Steel Plotline
(The story of a genderfluid depressed detective on mars and his dangerous dance with a mysterious master thief, told in a beautifully sound-designed ongoing podcast.)
The Magnus Archives
(This still-running podcast starts relatively slowly but really takes off after the first season, telling one short horror story per episode and building a intricate metaplot about an asexual archivist with big dumbass energy and his assistants)
Wolf 359
(A walking pop culture refrence, a mom-friend boss, a crazy russian scientist and a glitchy AI live and work in a space station about 7 light years from earth. Besides a plant monster, mutiny and betrayal, this finished podcast also has a well-rounded and memorable cast that you’ll be sure to love)
Eos 10
(Dr Ryan Dalias is transferred to Eos 10 as part of the medical team, which formerly had been led by a drunk misanthrope and a nurse with a very particular skillset. While trying to deal with a hypochondriac royal, an abnormal Christmas tree and a terrorist, this rather lighthearted podcast has its genuine moments)
Gay Future
(a more or less sarcastic podcast based on the fanatic homophobic ideas of Mike Pence, this short podcast is set in a dystopian future in which everyone is gay and makes fun of YA books, heteronomy and a bunch of other stuff along the way)
Alice isn’t dead
(an extremely atmospheric podcast from the same people that made nightvale which follows an anxious truck driver looking for her wife. A lot of American Gothic, excellent atmosphere and genuinely heartfelt comments on love, humanity and freedom make this a true experience)
ARCHIVE 81
(For those of you that loved Nightvale and TMA but wished they were both a little weirder, comes Archive 81. What i can only describe as the american version of The Magnus Archives, Archive 81 is a interesting horror podcast following several plotlines including but not limited to an archivist, a man mostly made out of radio, a dark ritual and a man made out of static.)
IN PROGRESS: (7)
Podcasts that i am currently listening to/catching up on and thus can already reccomend, but not fully comment on.
Within the Wires
(one story per season, the first being subliminal messages being told through relaxation tapes)
The Bright Sessions
(the recordings of therapy sessions for supernaturally talented humans)
Kingfalls AM
(the Radiostation of Kingfalls, a weird little town in america)
The White Vault
(a rescue team is sent to a remote outpost in the arctic)
The Habitat
(a team of trainees is sent to live isolated in a simulation of a space station. Not fictional, real life recordings)
Start with this
(a podcast about making podcasts)
TO DO:
