Das ist, was die Einwanderung den Steuerzahler jedes Jahr kosten würde, nämlich 54 Milliarden €uro. Eine gewaltige Summe, die jedoch im Verhältnis zum Haushaltsbeitrag der Einwanderer stehen muss. Steuer- und Nichtsteuereinnahmen, Sozialbeiträge ... So viele Cashflows, die der Studie zufolge nicht ausreichen, um die durch die Einwanderung verursachten vielfältigen Kosten auszugleichen. „Penumbra-Zone“ Konkret sind Sozialleistungen die Hauptausgaben aufgrund der regulären Migration. Von den 12,36 Milliarden, die im vergangenen Jahr für Hilfsempfänger ausgegeben wurden, macht der Anteil der Zuwanderung somit 2,97 Milliarden aus. Insgesamt belaufen sich die Sozialausgaben für legale Einwanderer auf 105,78 Milliarden €uro, während die direkten Einnahmen aus der Einwanderung 95,49 Milliarden betragen. (am i just in hearteyes with the idea of damien being a knight of the swamp, perhaps sworn to the Keep before its Lord (for some reason i have not concocted yet) slowly and inexorably falling in love with the monster? while the monster slowly falls in love with his knight? that delicious protector-royal dynamic? damien throwing himself into danger for the lord of the swamp (less and less reluctantly), arum feeling his heart *crack* watching damien take the hits for him? MAYBE. MAYBE. oh goddammit there i go again.

where is rilla? hm. well. why would damien swear to the swamp? perhaps in exchange for sanctuary for his forever-flower, sentenced to much worse than exile for the crime of witchcraft (perhaps Mira’s father is still king in this ‘verse) (damien is likely a criminal now as well- though he did not stay behind to find out. no- he fled with his Rilla rather than delivering her to 'justice' as he was ordered to do)

Rilla really thinks that swearing fealty to the first monster who does not kill them on sight is probably a bit much, but she's too exhausted from running away to complain really. OH NO I WROTE TOO MUCH AGAIN. FUCK. FUCK I NEED TO START A NEW FILE IN MY SCRIVENER. god. fucking. damn. it)

Hey, can I yell for a moment about the Second Citadel? Specifically how no one is talking about the fact that Damien is currently a knight sworn to no liege. And Arum, who he left his old duties for, is a Lord with no knights. And both of them serve a higher power that supports them being together. And Rilla, who loves them both, would be a perfect balance/witness to some sort of fealty ceremony. Tldr: Why have I not seen a single thing with Sir Damien swearing to Lord Arum??

realistically speaking, I think that would get a little weird with the power dynamics in the Rad Bouquet - at first, at least. Them all being on completely even footing is important to the functioning of the relationship, you know? I love them but there’s no way they would handle this maturely. 

BUT I can totally see a fic in which for some reason Damie has to do this - some plot contrivance of social or magical means, idk. Maybe just so other monsters will accept a human knight in the Keep? (Not that they have any right to a say over that, Arum would snap. But politics...) (It’s probably Rilla’s idea lbr, and the guys are both rushed into it.) And then further reasons, either social (politics!) or magical (magically binding oaths of fealty?!?) to keep it up, and after a fair number of shouted arguments and near-duels, sometimes even with people who don’t live in the Keep, the three of them stagger into a comfortable balance of equal power and mutual respect and love again.

...anyway, Damien would definitely be swearing fealty to Arum specifically as Lord of the Swamp of Titan’s Bloom, which is close enough as makes no difference to pledging to the Keep itself, who is, in fact, in charge here, whatever she lets her energetically grumpy lizard familiar think.

ok let’s try this again. you can tell that i don’t really think about specific characters as inspiration per se, so much as character function, from the text i need to clarify on all of them. the characters chosen may not be a straight one-to-one inspiration and may be based on inversions or subversions of certain traits, or the inspiration is pretty threadbare

also it’s a little difficult to really nail any character inspirations down with characters like biamile and teahide since a lot of their characterization was made during the development of animorphs au in collaboration with penstrokes. then again, so were sception and selainius, but they’re different, jhghjfk
