Speaking of things that absolutely say something about me culturally, I can't believe they're making such a big deal out of getting into a barfight. It's not like EVERYONE HERE MUST ENTER INTO ONE BARFIGHT BEFORE THEY RECEIVE VOTING RIGHTS, but it's not super uncommon to meet up with someone who got into a scuffle once or twice in a bar. I've been in a couple, I know my dad was, my deeply beloved grandfather was such a fucking tough that he joined the Navy so he didn't go to prison ahaha, it's just, especially for the working class here, not that shocking.

I swear I always forget that Wilson is just an oncologist. I'm watching s1 e4, and after one of the babies died, Cameron doesn't want to go tell the parents because earlier, she hadn't told them everything and had gotten their hopes up. So the baby dies, and House tells her to go talk to the parents, and she argues with him, and as he's walking out the door and leaving, he turns to Wilson and goes, "Make sure she does her job."
Wilson is an oncologist, he shouldn't have even been there, and yet House just throws half of his parenting responsibilities on him LMAO

the best supernatural episodes
according to an autistic person with a special interest and the ability to make a list.
if youre really serious about supernatural spoilers then maybe stay away :)
None of the season one episodes made in on the list but I will give an honorable mention to S1 E2 Wendigo.
S2 E11 Playthings - A classic, creepy girls in a creepy hotel. Special call out to Sam getting SLOPPY
S2 E16 Roadkill - There's a ghost haunting the highway. the Boys help the spirit move on. This is an early example of monster empathy
S2 E18 Hollywood Babylon - Dean loves hollywood. I love dean. this episode makes me kick my feet like a little girl and i will not defend myself.
S2 EP 20 What Was Shall Never Be - all I have in my notes for this one is "Dean Djinn Dream" which was enough for me to remember the episode and get misty eyes. This is SEASON 2 my son will never know peace.
S3 E5 Bedtime Stories -I had to check the wiki on this one, I think i liked it cause it referenced classic fairytales
S3 Ep11 Mystery Spot - "HEAT OF THE MOMENT" RISE AND SHINE SAMMY!
S3 E13 Ghostfacers! - Im a Facer through and through
S3 E16 No Rest for the Wicked - S3 finale and the Boys are facing consequences! Classic Dean, Sam and Bobby episode.
S4 E1 Lazerus Rising - First Cas Episode. That handprint makes me feel things.
S4 E6 Yellow Fever - What if Dean had anxiety (The Eye of the Tiger blooper is also at the end of the episode which gives it bonus points.
S4 E17 Wishful Thinking - Make a wish? was it for your teddy bear to be diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder? Well thats what youre getting!
S4 E17 It's a Terrible Life - Sam ~ the sales rep. Dean ~ middle management.
S4 E18 The Monster at the End of the Book - There are books about Sam and Dean?! Written by this guy who loves self insert character? Surely the entire show isn't about to take a tone shift?
S5 E3 Free to be You and Me - Sam and Dean are fighting again, but this time Dean has a new heavenly boy toy to play with instead. (Cas has no rizz yet it's actually a little painful to watch)
S5 E5 Fallen Idol - Okay the Wax People episode is on here for one reason and one reason only. Paris Hilton.
S5 E7 The Curious Case of Dean Winchester - Old man Dean and old man Bobby. This is also the episode for HH Husk kinnies.
S5 E8 Changing Channels - Dr Sexy MD is that you?!
S5 E9 The Real Ghostbuster - *in a grizzly voice* "I'm Dean Winchester, this is my brother Sam. Have you experienced anything strange?" "Dude that was so good! Now we can go solve the puzzle" "Man you're breaking the immersion!"
S5 E10 Abandon All Hope - This is here for Crowley's first appearance and not because the end will make you cry.
S5 E12 Swap Meat - "uh... its Audi Nos". Freaky Friday starring Sam Winchester! An angsty teen and April Kepner from Grey/Sloan Memorial Hospital.
S5 E16 Dark Side of the Moon - The Boys lives flash before their eyes. Dean is pissed forever about Sams.
S5 E19 Hammer of the Gods - this is for all my pagans out there!
S6 E4 A Weekend at Bobby's - What do you think this episodes about idjit.
S6 E15 The French Mistake -  “For whatever reason, our life is a TV show.” “Why?” “I don't know.” “No, seriously. Why? Why would anybody want to watch our lives?”
S7 E4 Defending your Life - consequences? for fucking people over? how about you stand trial.
S7 E20 The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo - The self insert character made for us :) Luv u 4ever Charlie XD
S8 E4 Bitten - found footage will always scare. this one reminds me that this show started as a psuedo horror.
S8 E8 hunteri heroci - Cas tries his hand at being a hunter
S8 E12 As Time Goes By - FINALLY THEY ARE CARVING TRAPS INTO BULLETS
S8 E17 Goodbye Stranger - verbatim here are my notes for this episode "Cas chooses Dean, but the way he handles Meg... Fuck Naomi"
S8 E18 Clip Show - If you only want to watch just one episode of Supernatural this should be it. It's not actually a clip show, theres a broment, bonding time with favorite characters and crazy plots that only supernatural could get away with.
S9 E5 Dog Dean Afternoon - Dean is finally a dog person
S9 E11 First Born - Another bro fight leads to shipping <3 SamxCas + DeanxCrowley <3
S9 E15 #thinman - the slender episode feat. GHOSTFACERS. You come away from this episode thinking "supernatural is so fucking gay why wont the boys kiss"
S9 E21 King of the Damned - my favorite crowley era change my mind. Also the way the Boys interrogate an angel is so funny
S10 E5 Fan Fiction - I would unironically fuck w a supernatural musical and if helluva/hazbin taught me anything the rest of you would too
S10 E6 Ask Jeeves - The Clue episode. (Pay attention to the improvised weapons Dean chooses. It brings me joy)
S10 E9 The Things we Left Behind - Cas is suffering a midlife crisis and his besties are there to help him repair his relationship with his daughter. Funnily enough, Crowley is also getting some family bonding in.
Okay, I'm all caught up on my list. Should I have stayed up late transcribing this with an 8am class tommarow?
Probably not but it did bring me great joy. Tell me your favorite episode! I'll continue to add to my list as I continue my rewatch :)

What could have been: sympathizing with Ed in season 2
I've talked before about how much I love Ed and all his complexity. I've written more fanfic about him and Izzy than any other characters, in my entire history of fandom. And unlike many people, I wasn't unprepared for the dark direction his arc took in season 2; I wanted him to commit MORE atrocities, and I happily made comparisons between him and another one of my favorite characters, Hannibal Lector.
But one of the key things I wanted after he committed atrocities was for him to feel bad about it. And I thought we'd see that! After all, S1 Ed was so tormented about killing his dad (who was abusive and violent towards) him that he never killed (directly) again! He was so broken up about trying to kill Stede in s1e6 that he ended up crying in a bathtub. Just like he cried in the window sill after committing all the kraken horrors in s1e10. It seemed like this was a guy scared of his own inner darkness, convinced he was a monster, who would go around saying things like "I'm not a good person" and "You were always going to realize who I am."
And so even when s2 went darker than anyone expected—when he cut off more of Izzy's toes, and shot him in the leg, and made crewmen fight to the death for experiencing love, and sailed the entire ship into a storm to murder-suicide his crew—I was still ready to accept all that moral ambiguity and give him a hug afterwards. Because of course, I figured that after Ed was brought out of that dark place and those suicidal urges, he would feel horrible remorse. How could he not?
I was looking forward to seeing him break down crying, convinced he was an irredeemable, unforgivable monster. (Which of course, would make it all the more touching when people inevitably did forgive him, and when he did redeem himself). Maybe Ed would even go too far with trying to atone, like in Mercy, one of my favorite post-s1 fics. Probably, I figured, Ed's quest for redemption would be one of the main themes in the second half of season 2.
So it was strange to watch e4, when Ed looked nothing but annoyed at everyone for chaining him up and banishing him, and then he went to hang out with his old friends like he'd done nothing wrong. When after the crew unanimously voted him out, Stede brought him back to the ship literally that same evening, and Ed saw no problem with that. Okay... maybe he's still processing?
Then e5 came, and that episode was about Ed's redemption. Yay! Except... Ed didn't seem to care? Other people made him wear the bag and the bell. He asked how long it'd take people to get over it, guessing "like a day." He gave an influencer-esque non-apology to the crew. He said "I took a man's leg" rather than calling Izzy by name. He literally doesn't remember the circumstances of pushing Lucius off the boat. He does ultimately give a real apology to Fang—for tormenting him years ago, rather than anything from his actual kraken era. I love e5 for the Izzy+Stede dynamic, but watching Ed be an unrepentant asshole here is painful. There is nothing about this that convinces me Ed wouldn't slide right back to being evil if Stede were to leave again.
And the thing is, it didn't have to be like this! We could have gotten Ed breaking down crying with guilt like in s1e6, and it would have made him much more sympathetic—not to mention the fact that Ed really is just an adorable cryer. Alternatively, we could have had some real deep diving about why Ed never apologizes (is he afraid of seeming weak?) or why he's so uncaring about others' pain (has he seen too many friends die over the years, to the point of going numb?)
By episode 6, it seems like most characters have moved on. Stede says something about Ed turning poison into positivity, which feels completely unearned. He pays for the party—but he'd previously tried to make the crew throw their cut of the loot into the ocean. He makes some attempts to best Ned and protect Stede, but Stede ends up saving the crew instead—from a pirate who only showed up in the first place because Ed was intentionally trying to piss him off. Ed is sad that Stede kills someone, and this would be a great time to again make Ed sympathetic! To have him talk about how he doesn't want that for Stede, because his own violence has weighed on him so deeply. But nope.
E6 does see Ed actually apologize to Izzy—and he's terrible at it. He's just like, "Sorry about your leg," makes no eye contact, and flees immediately afterwards. We do see some hints that this shitty apology isn't really indicative of Ed's true feelings, given how he has those flashbacks to the scenes of hurting Izzy seemingly haunting him; but it's very brief. It would be a great time to address Ed's horrific tendency towards conflict-aversion and avoiding awkward conversations in relationships—the same tendency that made s1 Ed never inform Izzy that the plan to kill Stede and the Revenge crew had changed. This would be another great opportunity to help us sympathize with Ed again—to have us see how it's not that he doesn't want to communicate these things, it's that these conversations are terribly stressful and anxiety-inducing for him. But nah, why would OFMD need to include those things for Ed?
E7 happens, and still nothing. If anything, there was a great opportunity for Ed to at least show himself to be a kind person to Stede—maybe nobly stepping in to save the day, even though he's annoyed that Stede's getting all this attention now. You know, like Stede did for him back in s1e5, when the situation was reversed. But nope, Ed runs off to be a fisherman, not having learned any of the earlier season's lessons about whims. He only stops being a fisherman because he's bad at it.
I was still hoping for something big in e8–some huge selfless, gesture that Ed would do to cover for all of his inability to do the little gestures. Ed is good at grand gestures! Swimming back to the ship after he left, then taking the Act of Grace in s1 was HUGE. Very selfless, very sweet! He could have done something like that for Izzy, Lucius, and the traumatized crew. Some kind of heroic gesture to help others more than himself. But nope. In some sense, Izzy dying is one of the greatest indications of Ed's wasted potential, because we narratively had a great opportunity for Ed to be able to save someone... but he didn't.
(Admittedly, Ed is not a complete dick here—he helps Izzy when he's limping, he says some genuinely apologetic stuff when Izzy's dying, and he finally gives Izzy his attention and care. But then after the funeral, he's still like "Well, that's that.")
It's so frustrating. It's not that I don't want to like Ed, or that I don't want to sympathize with him. I really, REALLY do! I don't even need Ed to successfully do anything to earn forgiveness! I'd take Ed trying and failing. I'd take him wanting to try, but being so convinced of his monstrousness that he never makes the attempt. But give me something. Anything other than the unexamined apathy that he has so much of the time.
The thing is, s2 lost the ability for Ed's mistreatment of people to be just another "of course he's violent, he's a pirate" quirk. They were pretty explicit about how abusive Ed was (Jim's comment in e1, the joke in e4 people assumed Ed had hit Stede) and how much he traumatized people (Lucius and the whole crew very clearly have PTSD in episodes 4 and 5). This is serious stuff, which he did to other main characters, which is going to make a lot of viewers look at him pretty harshly.
And that's manageable—Hannibal Lector managed to be most textbook-abusive asshole in the world, committing atrocities and generally being unrepentant left and right, and viewers STILL found him lovable and sympathetic. You can do that! But you need to:
a. make it clear that anyone with the relevant information calls them out for being awful, even multiple episodes later
b. make it clear that they care deeply and genuinely about their wronged loved ones
c. make them willing to actually make REAL sacrifices
I watched so many people start to dislike or outright hate Ed in season 2. It made me really sad. But I couldn't blame them for feeling that way. For all that Ed is supposedly one of the two protagonists in OFMD—a character whose mistakes should be the most understandable, whose mental state should be the most resonant—the show seemed to entirely drop the ball on writing him as such.

good omens mascot here, livestream in less than an hour, any warnings?
Hello maggots, so the livestream is in... around 45 min from the time I'm writing this. If you guys have any warnings, now's the time. Do I need tissues. It is S1 E4, 5 and 6. Do I need emotional support fruit. I will bring an orange like last time, but I want to be CERTAIN.
ISTG IF Y'ALL ARE LIKE OH ASMI IT'LL BE FINE MATE and then I end up sobbing over Crowley's hair there will be MURDER on this site.
See you lovelies there, watch my descent into further madness.
Here's the link to the post with the details:

I finally got around to watching The Boys (I know, I know, late to the party). I'm only on S1 E4 but it's already making me crave dark!Peter/Spider-Man. Look at him! He could be so egotistical and cocky and morally corrupted if put in the right hands!
Tumblr media
I want darkness! I want hardcore smut! I want people to question my sanity with what I'm reading!
The only dark Peter fics I've read are either from @liz-allyn or @mrshipsmcgee.
Anyone got anymore??? Anything??

ok but the more i think about it the more i believe that the deck is stacked against good omens s3, plot-wise, and a LOT of it is s2's fault...assuming that the show will come out of the pause with a new showrunner, i'm wishing them the best of luck...bc they're DEFINITELY gonna need it...
the big one that hangs over everything else for me is that *s2 e4 confirms that human souls get tortured in hell for eternity, rather than just milling around or slowly dissipating or whatever.* and it gets glossed over in the show, the people who we see get threatened with this are legitimately evil and before long we're back to watching aziraphale and crowley flirt over wine, so it's easy to not think seriously about it...however i for one will *always* believe that infinite punishment for a finite life is horrifying and that the writers absolutely did not think through the implications of this. aziraphale is hanging onto a shop full of stories written by people who died and are now in neverending pain (which could be an interesting concept if they actually addressed that part of his guilt, i assume he just barely manages to convince himself that anyone who deserves it will be saved in the rapture, but they Didn't Really Address It)....crowley is now directly implicated in sending people to that pain (i assume that's part of what he's drinking to forget but they Didn't Really Address That either). i don't know how they are supposed to fix this...but if they don't COMPLETELY address and overhaul this system in s3 it will overshadow ANY possible happy ending in my mind. WHAT IS THE POINT OF STOPPING THE SECOND COMING IF SO MANY HUMAN SOULS ARE STUCK IN HELL AND THE REST ARE IN WHATEVER BORING RESTRICTIVE THING HEAVEN'S COME UP WITH?!?! hot take but maybe we Would be better off just destroying the world at that point, so no new humans can be born and doomed to suffer eternally? and that is DEFINITELY NOT SOMETHING YOU WANT YOUR AUDIENCE TO BE THINKING IN A COMEDY WHERE THERE'S VERY LITTLE CHANCE OF ACTUALLY DESTROYING THE WORLD!!! if you want me to laugh and happily watch you save the world, then saving the world needs to be a good thing...
also, s2 shows god talking directly to job, and it's...really scary, even though it's played for laughs? it's much easier to tell a story where the world is under an absent god who just reads the footnotes and laughs ineffably out of anyone's earshot, as She is in s1, than a god who is outright mocking and unable to be reasoned with....it's gonna be Really Hard to write a happy ending with This version of god. either She just has to not show up at all anymore, or She will need to be reasoned with (which seems hard to do, given Job), or She will need to be fought....do any of our protagonists have the power to kill God? Would that even make for good tv or a satisfying ending?
the more i think about it the more immature "they're not talking" seems...when the whole world is at stake and they love each other so much...
finally, s2 gives all these hints about crowley having been very powerful as an angel...possibly even an archangel...feel free to disagree with me on this, but I *personally* could not care less about who he used to be. it doesn't impress me at all, i'd prefer to keep it a mystery, and if anything crowley having lots of power (and aziraphale being promoted) takes away from their characters bc he and aziraphale were always supposed to be just middle managers who have more in common with each other than their bosses, a la cold war spies...I don't think Pratchett believed that might makes right and I don't want crowley and aziraphale to just wave their hands and stop armageddon pt 2 with an 8 billion lazarii miracle, even if it is a mIrAcLe oF LoVe........But s2 just Kept On Prodding with those incredibly obvious hints, so now it'll be weird if Crowley's past and power *doesn't* become central to the resolution of s3...the best I can hope for is some sort of schrodinger's archangel...i'm predicting that we'll get the confirmation that crowley Was an archangel but hoping that it won't affect the plot in any real way...
please note that i am NOT saying this with any bad intentions. despite the gaping plotholes i am a huge fan of the show and characters, and i really hope that s3 will come back with someone kind and capable and thoughtful! it's just like...how will they get out of this one, yknow?

My media this week (5-11 May 2024)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
another absolutely unhinged episode from this crew. i love them all so much.
📚 STUFF I READ 📚
🙂 Lessons in Exposing a Deadly Alias (Cambridge Fellows Mysteries) (Charlie Cochrane) - this series is now the equivalent of watching criminal minds or some other long-running procedural: it's certainly not for the plot/mystery but for the characters who are family. I do love that as the series has gone on their friends & family have taken on a more active role in the investigations. that said, I think I might be done with this series; it took me forever to get thru this bc I wasn't remotely motivated to get back to it.
🥰 No One Likes Us But We Don't Care (Rainne) - 45K, modern Steve/prewar Bucky - an accidental interdimensional swap drops a 1940s Bucky into the present - he & Steve figure out what that means for them (3rd in a series)
😍 Spectred Isle (Green Men #1) (KJ Charles, author; Ruairi Carter, narrator) - [reread] very old world supernatural shenanigans in 1920s England - truly sad that there won't be any more in this universe because it's sooooo good and so rich but forever grateful we at least got this marvelous (and complete) story
🥰 it's good to see you back in a bar band, baby (LiarsandThieves22) - 139K, Steddie modern musician AU - absolutely adored this! enemies-to-friends-to lovers speedrun, understandable & character appropriate mutual pining, fantastic supporting characterizations - it had it all!
😍 You Should Be So Lucky (Cat Sebastian, author; Joel Leslie, narrator) - baseball player Eddie & newspaper writer Mark are both dealing with some devastating life events. They find each other and some solace and healing. This book, like We Could Be So Good, is absolutely incredible. It knocked my socks off and healed my heart. It almost made me like baseball! I'm just going to quote from a review written by kiki124 in the Romance Salon server because she is great with words and captured it exactly: "I was just blown away by the writing and the ways Sebastian drew these two utterly believable and interesting characters, plus all the side characters, plus the literary notes, plus the queer history plus the New York history. I think that what I love the best about these books is that the story doesn't end when the characters fall in love--there's a whole second half of the book to come as the relationship has room to breathe and grow and work out kinks. Literally everyone who has a heart and a brain should read these books."
💖💖 +115K of shorter fic so shout out to these I really loved 💖💖
the Steve Rogers problem (relenafanel) - MCU: stucky AU, 36K - "Bucky doesn't consider his Steve Rogers problem as a problem so much as the solution he hadn't realized he was hoping for to help him through the transition from the Bucky Barnes he'd been before his accident to the new, shiny version of himself. No, the problem isn't with Captain America and The Howling Commandos fandom. The problem is the amount of porn Bucky managed to write and draw about Captain America before finding out that he's less than one degree of separation away from Steve Rogers. 'Less than' as in he's sitting across the table from him."
📺 STUFF I WATCHED 📺

First of all, I want to thank @tommyxgrace-always, @lady-of-the-english, @nat111love, @peak color, @thesoldiersminute, @peakysgrace, @tommygrace, @korinthya, @peakyv for the huge number of posts and GIFs filled with love, respect and admiration for my favorite characters Tommy and Grace.
I just recently watched PB and fell under the spell of this couple in s1. I was looking forward to their meeting in s2 and was just shocked by Grace's death in e2s3. I even stopped watching the series for a while because it seemed pointless to me without her (I think we girls watch it more with romantic overtones). But after a while I decided to finish watching it anyway in order to understand what was being filmed there for another 3 seasons.  What I saw in the sequel s3 (especially e3 and e4 with Tatiana) hurt me, it was very insulting for Grace and her memory, and in general for their love, which seemed so pure to me, despite all the circumstances. I'm not talking about the strange idea of sex in front of icons, but apparently it's something symbolic again. But then after s4,5,6, where Tommy's grief, sadness and longing for her are the red thread, I somehow tried to understand him and forgive him for these terrible episodes in s3.
I had a lot of questions about certain points in the show and all your articles helped me find most of the answers, and even more than I expected, for example, about symbols and parallels that I initially did not notice in the series.
I also want to note that it was here that I found solace and like-minded people, because when I started reading reviews on other resources on the Internet, I saw such a stream of hatred for Grace that I was in a big stupor, it began to seem to me that I was watching a completely different series and did not understand anything at all about the story of this couple and the heroine. To be honest, without the intrigue between these two, I would not have watched the second season and would hardly have watched the first season at all. For me, the priority is still the love storyline.
in general, thanks to all of you, I really hope that in the future film SK will show at least a little of the life of their couple in New York, in the form of memories.

it's not on the same day. the first day they have class, the presentation and simon and wille hook. then the next day when they wake up wille tells him that they have the day off, simon tells him that linda is picking him up at 10 in the morning. they had a sleepover. it's clear when you watch the episodes.
Okay so, let me clear up the time line of Ep 5-6 and why I think it all happened on the same day.
The day starts off with Simon telling Wille that he's going to the police and they also have a presentation and Wille goes to his room and gets sick.
The reason why people think they are different days is because Wille/Edvin's costume changes with no explanation! I don't know if it's a mistake or something but his undershirt changes in the same exact scene. Look at the undershirt when Simon tells him he's going to the police:
Tumblr media
Cue to him coming to his room moments after:
Tumblr media
See? His undershirt literally changed from a button-down to a T-Shirt! I think it's some sort of a mixup because they don't shoot the scenes in chronological order so this must be a mistake in following the costume.
Also in the presentation scene, Felice and Sara are wearing the same clothes as what they are wearing in the August confrontation scene:
Tumblr media
(Sorry this was the best shot I had of Sara's clothing)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Look at Felice's undershirt, she just put a jacket on)
Like, what is the chance that 4 people are repeating the same clothing the next day??
And I think that all the scenes that were shot in Wille's room in Ep 5-6 were shot on different days as the outdoor scenes(which again makes sense because TV shows never film things in order, it's just the standard procedure).
Like when he's practicing his speech in his room after Simon left in Ep 6, he's still wearing the gray T-Shirt:
Tumblr media
But when he gets August's text and leaves for the Palace, his undershirt changes to the outdoor button-down again:
Tumblr media
And when Wille and Simon were making out in Ep 5 it was still morning(or atleast day) and when he left in Ep 6 it was still day as well! Like, if all the other things would have happened the next day, it's highly unlikely to me that Simon would spend atleast 12-13 hours in Wille's room(not that I'm complaining, though). Even in S1 E4 and E5 too, Wilmon's hookup lasted for barely 3-4 hours because they hooked up in the early morning and then they both leave after the breakfast time, which is like 8 am or something. So it's highly plausible that the same thing happened this time around as well.
I can be wrong, but I'm like 99% percent sure that story-wise it was the same day.

House Episode Master List
Here is my recommended house episodes my credentials are that I have watched house 3 times and the episodes that I remember are worth it and the ones I don't after 3 times must be bad. If you are really bored you can watch them all; you can play spot the celebrity. I was going to describe them all but that's pretty spoiler-y so I will not......
Season 1
S1.E1 - Pilot Classic. You can see how baby Wilson is in the beginning.
I actually don't remember season 1 too much. You can just watch the whole season to get a sense of the house cast. I don't care much for the Volger subplot; he's just House's villian.
If you want to speed run it: S1.E5 / S1.E8 / S1.E10
S1.E21 - Three Stories Fun episode
Season 2
S2.E1 - Acceptance Gotta watch the first episode of every season I guess
S2.E5 - Daddy's Boy I admit I don't remember this episode but some House backstory for you.
S2.E6 - Spin Making you watch an episode for a crumb of Hilson
S2. E7 - Hunting Gaydar
(I skipped a lot of episodes; House has a arc with his ex and I don't care. There may be some Hilson sprinkled in)
S2.E14 - Sex Kills Hilson at the end
S2.E15 - Clueless Hilson
S2.E16 - Safe Oh good more Hilson
S2.E17 - All In Fun episode where they play poker
S2.E18 - Sleeping Dogs Lie Ok this episodes kinda funny at the end
S2.E19 - House vs. God Cute Hilson moment also some Wilson lore
If you want to find out why I hate Foreman feel free to watch S2.E20 & S2.E21
S2.E22 - Forever Sure. This episode could be hilson if you squint.
Season 3
S3.E1 - Meaning First episode of the season babyyyy
S3.E2 - Cane and Able
S3.E4 - Lines in the Sand
S3.E5 - Fools for Love

Season 4
S4.E1 - Alone
S4.E2 - The Right Stuff
S4.E3 - 97 Seconds House does a little game show type of game to hire a new team; if you like it keep watching if you find it boring go ahead and skip. Olivia Wilde is in them and she's hot so I find them fun.
S4.E4 - Guardian Angels
S4.E5 - Mirror Mirror Hilson; don't blink or you'll miss it.
S4.E8 - You Don't Want to Know I will make you watch this episode for the tiniest bit of Hilson

S5.E18 - Here Kitty
S5.E19 - Locked In

S6.E12 - Remorse
S6.E15 - Private Lives Hey its that girl. Also she's just like me fr fr
S6.E16 - Black Hole Hilson
S6.E17 - Lockdown Thirteen gets along with the gays
S6.E18 - Knight Fall Thirteen is the best because House doesn't hit on her and simply goes to her for Wilson troubles.
S6.E20 - The Choice House and Wilson might be gay but this show is still h*m*ph*bic
S6.E21 - Baggage
Season 7
House and Cuddy date and it's awful and boring and makes no sense. You may watch the first few episodes if you wish but this show cannot write straight romance to save its life.
S7.E3 - Unwritten
S7.E5 - Unplanned Parenthood
S7.E12 - You Must Remember This
S7.E17 - Fall from Grace
S7.E18 - The Dig
S7.E21 - The Fix
Season 8
I do not care for season 8.
S8.E2 - Transplant Hilson
S8.E9 - Better Half The one hilson scene is so. much.
S8.E16 - Gut Check House and Wilson are in it.
S8.E17 - We Need the Eggs
S8E18 - Body & Soul
The rest of the episodes are Hilson so finish them up!

jt (finally) watches warrior nun - s1 e4
So I’m going to be very deliberate in focusing just on Beatrice because there’s a lot of things that just … don’t make sense with my experience in the military so I’m just not going to comment on them. (The only thing I’ll say is that outdoor training area in ep 3 is ridiculous: you would never have folks training next to a shooting range, much less behind the targets - regardless of if the guns are not loaded that's just incredibly unsafe jfc)
Anyway. Focusing on Beatrice.
The interesting thing with my understanding of Beatrice here are the unusual risks she takes in this episode, namely the “conversation” outside of Arq-Tech and continuing the mission solo. What we’ve seen of her so far has been very controlled, strategic - this episode seemed so out of character that I really wanted to pause and understand why this was happening.
And the thing I remembered was that line from Lucia in s2 ep2: “You’re a mystery, a labyrinth: walls within walls. And in the center: a fire, burning to be free.” Lucia means this flirtatiously but I think it's still relevant to Beatrice's anger. In season 2 (again, still just going by gifs and clips and fanvids), we see Beatrice’s anger simmering just under the surface, erupting at certain times. But her anger is on clear display in this episode - but I think here, and perhaps many of the other times we see her angry as well, it’s driven by fear.
Let’s take the “conversation” outside of Arq-Tech - I’m using scare quotes here because it’s really a warning shot, both to Lilith and the other sisters. Because we have to remember: They’ve got a whole team with them, and they’re in the middle of a mission when they start talking. Beatrice knows this - in fact, when she says, "Still, we're taking a risk here: We could expose our sect. And for what?" she even turns to the unnamed sister to her left after addressing Camila (the sister even nods):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So she’s aware of her audience, aware also of her reputation as a senior member of the OCS, a leader. The thing is, she’s not acting very leader-like here. She’s vocal about her disdain for Duretti’s agenda, which you don’t do as a leader because that sows distrust and rumor and overall reduction of effectiveness. She also calls out Lilith herself, another senior member, airing out her business in front of the others - which can cause drama of folks choosing sides.
Lastly, this is in the middle of a mission - sure, the "action" hasn’t started, but they’re on site so the mission has begun. You don’t start shit like that during a mission - what if things had escalated? The whole mission would’ve been compromised, and the very thing that Beatrice is afraid of would have come true.
And what is Beatrice afraid of? I don’t think it’s merely change - it's that the change of agenda threatens the OCS. I'm willing to bet that her fear is that the OCS, one thing - the only thing - that she has, will be taken away from her. At this point in her arc, Beatrice only sees her value as a sister warrior - it’s only during s2 that that starts to change, resulting in her leaving in the s2 finale.
Here though, she’s trying to hold on as tightly as she can to what she has. And I think that’s why she does that questionable action of dismissing Camila to go back to Cat’s Cradle with the rest of the sister warriors. On my initial watch, I was very confused: they had a whole squad go out to Arq-Tech, and Beatrice basically goes, “nah I’ll just do it myself”???? Like, were the other sister warriors just there for decoration? Leaving would have been the safer choice, the smarter, more prudent choice.
But she doesn’t choose to leave. And she knows the danger - she acknowledges it when she takes that moment to pray, “You make known to me the path of life.” But you know what’s interesting? Psalm chapter 16, where that line is from, starts like this: Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” The things that stand out to me are “refuge” - which we know is how Beatrice sees the OCS - and “I have no good apart from you.”
And if you’ve been following along in my other write ups, you know where I’m going: This is yet another moment of Beatrice devaluing herself. Beatrice choosing to stay, to continue the mission - a mission that she doesn’t even believe in - is all because she sees herself as expendable. That if everything goes south and she gets caught or worse, at least it won’t be one of the other sister warriors, at least they will be safe.
Which makes that hallway fight all the more charged. Losing is not an option for her - and as cheesy as the “faith is my business” line is, it really is what drives her here. “If God wants me to live, He’ll let me survive this” is how I’d read this fight scene (though again, as I mention in my episode 5 rewrite, I wish the fight scenes actually had a narrative).
There’s some interesting choices during the fight, of which I’ll just call out three. First, there’s the use of that shoulder lock near the beginning (0:39 in this clip). I’ve trained in different martial arts and I’m quite small (smaller than Ava/Alba lol), and the thing I love about shoulder locks is that it gives you so much leverage over someone, even when they’re bigger. The thing is, though, there is no margin for error: as the smaller person, you have to use your whole body just to control the bigger dude’s arm. There’s a lot of commitment necessary, which, again, is fitting for Beatrice.
Second, there’s a couple moments when Beatrice does a little pose with her hands down:
Tumblr media
I’m aware it’s probably for the badass factor and a moment of breathing room for the fight, but what’s kinda odd is that she’s not in a fight stance at all. It’s kind of arrogant, actually, to stand with your hands down in front of your opponent like that. Which to me reads a bit like intimidation, like, “you sure you still want to do this?” This is Beatrice purely in fight mode and it's terrifying.
Third, is the moment when she uses one of the guards as a shield:
Tumblr media
What’s interesting about a move like this is that it can be seen as cowardly, using a human shield. Yes, she’s doing what she needs to in order to survive, but the fact that Beatrice would do something as “low” as allowing another human get hurt on her behalf is kind of chilling.
There’s some other moments that are nice, like the precision and efficiency of Beatrice’s strikes and the use of the staff to control space once guns are introduced, but maybe later I’ll compare this with the “you all stand between me and Ava” fight once I get to s2.
Anyway, altogether fascinating, how they’ve quietly crafted Beatrice’s character here in s1. I’ll likely combine my thoughts for episodes 5 and 6 since Beatrice doesn't feature much in those episodes, and I'm also still pondering my rewrite of episode 6 (because woof, that was a pain to get through). Really excited for episode 7 though! As always, thanks for reading along lmk if you have thoughts or anything.

Update: I can officially say that link click has beaten me up. its thrown me into a wall. this is one of the series that has actively beaten me up while watching it.
Cried like four more times too thanks to season 2
Physically gasped and my jaw dropped like multiple times had to take more breaks. I think my older sister has seen me cover my sobbing mess of a face in my pillow a concerning amount of times LMAO
Im not gonna say any specific spoilers because my sister is still watching it and she follows my account but shes on s1 e4 so I'm about to have a great time watching her reactions
this series has changed my braincells
