What's going on with Nemona's wrist?

this is mostly just me putting down all my thoughts about this hc I have. Below the cut bc it's long as usual but read on if ur interested in like. orthopedics

I think Nemona has fatigue and some kind of wrist Issue because 1. She implies she has decreased motor function in that arm (can't throw pokeballs well, supports her arm with her other hand during battles) 2. She wears a brace 3. She gets winded easily / needs to catch her breath more than other characters / hates stairs So that got me wondering what the cause could be. I work in an orthopedic office and my shifts are 12 hours so sometimes when it's slow and I'm bored this is what my mind wanders to

Option 1: It's carpal tunnel and she's out of shape This is the most obvious answer since carpal tunnel is a repetitive stress injury and she's wearing a brace that looks almost identical to irl braces for that problem. Throwing pokeballs over and over, especially incorrectly, would be the most likely cause of an asymmetrical injury like that, and is actually reasonable for someone of her age and activity level. The winded thing is just because she's out of shape and has no underlying cause. Or maybe she just has some kinda chronic pain / fatigue disorder. That's not my department idk

Option 2: Oligoarticular JIA (juvenile idiopathic arthritis) This very long name is just describing chronic joint swelling in children that affects less than 5 joints. It's an autoimmune disease, and actually not that uncommon all things considered. It causes stiffness and pain, which would explain the stamina issues and motor skill issues. Plus, the constant flexion and extension of the knees from staircases certainly would explain her distaste for them in particular. That shit hurts. Occasionally people will use a brace for JIA-- it's highly unlikely her wrist would be the worst considering the typical presentation patterns (it usually affects bigger joints first like the knees) but hey. It's possible! This condition also affects young girls more often than other groups so. Math checks out

Option 3: Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hypermobility type) Figured I would include this bc I've seen a few people hc this and wanted to give it a fair shot myself. This is a heritable connective tissue disorder that causes hypermobile joints, chronic pain, fatigue, and a whole host of other things. Specifically tho, this disorder used to be called EDS type III and is now considered part of the Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders, but that's a can of worms for a post that's not this one. While the symptoms do match, and honestly quite well (a brace for stabilization makes perfect sense and the fatigue symptoms feel pretty on the nose) the disease usually causes very stretchy skin and vascular issues that she doesn't seem to have so I'm a tad on the fence

Option 4: Cervical spinal stenosis Despite this being the first thing that came to mind for me (since I see it a lot in the office) I'm now less convinced this would be the case. This disorder is basically a narrowing of the spinal canal that pinches the nerves in the neck. It can cause pain, weakness, numbing, and pain that radiates down the body. If most of the compression was on the C4 and C5 nerve I can see it affecting one arm / wrist especially rough (since the pain is typically bilateral but asymmetrical) but also this occurring in people under the age of 50 is SUPER rare so eh. It's possible it was congenital or caused by an injury but I wouldn't bet on it. As for the stamina issues, the neurological issues caused by the compression would likely be the cause of that, especially radiating down the back and legs. Felt worth it to include even if I'm not 100% convinced

I'm saying "options" here bc these symptoms are super vague and there's like 80 billion things that could cause it, I'm just racking my brain for different possibilities. If anyone has other hcs for the underlying causes of Her Whole Deal lmk I'm curious

Tamaki is a very shy person. We know this. We've seen how he acts in public. He hides behind Mirio and asks Mirio to do all the talking and stuff. He's the same way with you.

He obviously is a cuddlebug. He's just too shy to admit it. He will start getting more comfortable the further into the relationship you get.

He gets nervous when out in public with you. Not that he's ashamed of liking boys. He's just afraid about the stares when you guys hold hands or when you give him a peck on the cheek all the :O faces he gets. He will put his head on your shoulder and just lay there until you reach where you're going. But he loves you and doesn't want to be with anyone else, but he could definitely go without all the stares.

If you find out what's making Tamaki so nervous, you will throw hands. Like things along the lines of: "What are you staring at? Have you never seen 2 boys love each other? We're not circus animals. Look the other way, Karen." He'll be thankful but with also be petrified.

Not that this has any backup, but I feel like he's extremely artistic. He loves to paint, specifically, oil painting. It is one of the hardest media's to use, and he is AMAZING at it. He loves getting praise for the paintings he...paints. and of course, when he shows you, you give so much love and praise, and for what he's created, he gets a little overwhelmed, and then you have to calm him down while mildly panicking.

Tamaki has some sensory issues. He doesn't like loud noises, which is the one that you can see in the show. Doesn't like fireworks or loud music or anything. So, there are no parties for Amajiki.

This boy loves taking baths, and I mean LOVES. Bath bombs are probably his favorite thing ever. His favorites are soft purple ones and the ones that smell like caramel and vanilla.

With the HC above this one, his favorite place to go is bath and body works or the candle section in Walmart. He definitely had like 50 candles. His dorm must smell amazing.

Tamaki has a fear of insects, but he loves butterflies and bees. My guy hates centipedes (same bro) and crickets. Or practically anything that jumps. Will runaway screaming if he sees a praying mantis. NEVER let this man around a spider he won't even be able to run away he'll pass the fuck out.

His favorite time of day is dusk and nighttime. He loves watching the sunset and mapping constellations he's great at astronomy. Bonus points if you're there. ^^

I have officially watched all of rosado's supports and some of them in Japanese, and it is incredible how they just didn't translate some parts? I need a transcript to confirm, but I'm pretty sure rosado uses 中性 to describe his townsfolk... that means gender neutral, literally the kanji for medium/middle + sex/gender

he also specifically mentions cutesy men and cool women, confirming people from his village are not just cute but in general showcase different types of beauty, regardless of gender (and yes! he also says the "regardless of gender" part in Japanese too! I love him sm)

So, I saw on Twitter today that some Eddie Munson self-insert girlie had made some post (that was thankfully poorly received) about how they see Eddie in regards to his relationship with women, his type, and how he would treat them, and fellas, I've gotta say, it was NOT okay. Just...50 shades of disturbing.

Now, before I move on, I just wanna say, you're obviously free to hc whatever you like with whatever character(s) you like, but imo, there comes a time when a hc is so far off the rails from what/who a character is, that you're basically just creating an oc, and uh, this was definitely one of those times.

Essentially, the post insinuated that Eddie would not date/fuck fat girls (coming from a fat girl, I don't see this preference as being inherently problematic) but the post went so far as to say that Eddie has a "magic number" and would "force girls to weigh themselves for him" before taking them out, and "if they're over that number, he's done," and would never be seen associating with a girl who wasn't skinny unless he "pitied them."

I'm sorry... what? Tell me you have NO CLUE who Eddie Munson is without telling me, you have no clue who Eddie Munson is! 😂👎

Eddie, the safe-haven for the socially ostracized, who canonically hangs out with and uplifts those who don't fit society's rigid molds, is 100% not judging people (friend or partner) for their appearance, and he certainly isn't going to abuse them by shaming them for their weight or humiliating them by forcing them to 'weigh in' to have a chance at dating him.

On top of this, if we're factoring "Flight of Icarus" into the mix...Eddie is canonically willing to move Heaven and Earth to keep anyone he vibes with, trusts, and opens up to in his tiny circle, especially if they throw him the slightest scraps of affection or approval. He even talks about how two typically pretty girls he hooked up with in the past used him for story fodder ("to tell their friends what sleeping with The Freak was like") but none have ever genuinely been interested in him; he doesn't have the luxury of being super picky, even if that was his characterization.

Eddie is shown to have serious issues with self-confidence, self-worth, believing that he's worthy of love, and generally struggling with how he wants to be perceived and in some ways accepted. I genuinely believe that as far as romance goes? Eddie doesn't have a set-in-stone type. He's willing to give anyone a chance if they seem genuinely interested in him and aren't on the Hawkins bandwagon, placing judgement on him because of his father.

His entire story revolves at its core around being loved and figuring out how best to love himself. After losing his beloved mother, and subsequently being left with a parent who, at best, always puts him second, and at worst, actively puts him in danger to achieve his own ends...you're telling me that this love-starved kid is picky enough that he's not gonna be seen with a girl over an imagined number, or, that he's going to go out of his way to plant those same seeds of self-loathing in someone else?

I'm sorry, that take REALLY just bothered me. Eddie is a sweet, charismatic, passionate weirdo who loves fiercely, and actively doesn't want others to know what it's like to feel unloved or publicly judged. This is why we love him. If you only like him for his appearance, cool, but maybe do a few seconds worth of insight to his character before penning these gross hcs about him.

Whoever penned that hc, I genuinely hope you get the help you need, because it's obvious that it comes from a place of deep insecurity and self-loathe. Have faith in the idea that Eddie would love you just for being your most genuine self.❤️

Hi I hope you don’t mind me asking. I’ve been wanting to write Ethan x MC fics. But I feel like I don’t see Ethan in the “conventional” way people here in the fandom do. I know everyone writes their own version of him but honestly I’m kind of scare people would reject my stories if I don’t write him as lovey dovey as the rest. Idk why but I have a fascination for book 1 Ethan with just a few twists.

Do you think making friends is more important to have engagement on fics? I’ve seen people in the fandom RB fics that are different from their own HC, but only from people they’re friends with. If it’s something different & it’s coming from someone they don’t like or talk to, it gets rejected or ignored. I really hope this doesn’t offend anyone. And I know there’s a few people (you included) who are on both sides of the border (with more known and liked creators & those who aren’t) and RB a variety of fics.

Thanks for feeling comfortable enough to reach out to me about this. Unfortunately, I don't have a crystal ball, so I can't say what will happen. But I can share my personal experience and what I've observed in my time here, and hope it helps you. Then, I'll offer you my advice (which you can take or leave). 😊

There is a more "popular" version of Ethan in the fandom, and it is a romanticized version. This is not right or wrong, nor good or bad. It just is. No one dictates that it must be this way, but there are more readers that seem to want that content. These are just facts. I can attest to that because I write different versions of Ethan and, by and large, the mushy Ethan is always the most engaged with.

Personally, I think it's because people want escapism - hell - I do, too, at times. But keep in mind if your version falls outside of that (especially if it is drastically different), you may not get tons of engagement - especially with numbers so low today. And that's not an attack - it's not a judgment - it's just that's not what the majority of people are here for. People attack from both sides. Trust me, I know. My first fanfics on Tumblr were my original OH alternate ending and Delaying the Inevitable. You cannot get more sugary and sweet than the former, and the latter has sweet moments, but it is an angsty roller-coaster of emotions. The first is perfect, Ethan, and the second is very broken, Ethan, who does some really hurtful things to MC, to his father, and to others.

I've gotten anon hate for both versions. Yes, I've gotten hate for mushy Ethan, too - mocked terribly for it, actually. Have I gotten more hate for the DTI version? Yes. Absolutely - but see point #1. I believe it's just a numbers game. Yet, with that said, DTI stands in a class by itself compared to anything else I've written. I've never seen that loyalty, that excitement, and that level of interest. So, obviously, not everyone hates it. Friends and support on Tumblr can go hand in hand, but they don't always - and in my opinion - they shouldn't. Let's say you meet someone here. You have similar personalities, like the same music; you just click and become friends. But you have totally different writing styles/approaches to fanfic. Should you both be required to read a ton of fics that aren't your thing just because your friend wrote them? No. Does that mean you don't like each other and can't be friends? No. Does it always work that way? No. Are there friend groups that will RB everything someone in the group posts? Sure. Is that good? I mean, that's each person's personal opinion. I am in the camp of, no, it's not good. Why? From a writer's perspective, I don't want a bunch of empty notes. If I have 10 notes from people who are TRULY enthusiastic about my work, who I truly brought something to, it beats having 50 notes from people who skimmed my work, don't really care for it, and aren't giving me honest feedback. But that's just me. From a reader's perspective, I don't think people should be forced to read things they don't particularly care for just because they're friends. We read for enjoyment, right? I can be friends with someone and not necessarily love their style of writing. I can not be very fond of someone and think their work is spectacular. Work should be judged on taste and merit, IMO. I know it doesn't always work that way here, but that's my approach. You have to determine what's most important to you. If notes are the most important, then write what people want. But I think that gets pretty empty pretty quick. Writing is personal. Do I wish the works that were most important to me and brought me the most personal fulfillment got the most notes? Sure. And sometimes, they do. But often, they don't. I'm still going to write them. To me, it's not about a popularity contest. And if there is anyone who will stop being your friend because they disagree with your version of Ethan (or anything else), sweetheart, they're not your friend to begin with, and you're not losing a blessed thing if they walk away. My advice to you? WRITE WHAT YOU WANT TO WRITE. It will make you happiest, and I assure you, it will be your best work. DON'T MAKE NOTES YOUR GOAL. Notes are fickle. I don't know if you saw my post-Sunday, but I have had people outright tell me they have not RB me because I was getting too many notes or I was too new and had to pay my dues. I have seen people who RB just because they're friends, and I have seen people who will NOT RB just because they're not. It's a fucking game here (a stupid one), and it's gotten worse as the fandom dwindles. But that game impacts the number of notes any creator gets. If you tie your self-worth as a person or as a writer to number of notes, you're setting yourself up to be hurt needlessly. Make your own fulfillment the goal. Don't be mad if what you imagine/write isn't the most popular. We can't tell other people what to like or read. But does it make you happy? Are you proud? Do you have at least one other person excited about it with you? Then you're golden, in my opinion.

NOW ONE WORD OF ADVICE FOR EVERYONE...

I recommend one weekend when you're free. Take the list from @openheartfanfics. Or if you're not in OH's fandom, take the list from @choicesficwriterscreations. And read every single fic. Why? You are likely to find something you like that you would not have otherwise. If you don't, don't do it again - but give it a shot. Oh, and while you're there? Give each writer a ❤️. Show them love and support for taking the time to write and then sharing it with us. I know this is long (dude, it's me lol), but I think this is very important. Possible idea for a rewrite of Trip's character arc

Aight so I've been thinking about this for a while. I think we can ALL agree that Trip was a pretty mishandled character (If the rumors of him joining Journey are true, I dearly hope they'll do justice to him and give him the arc he deserves) but I can't help but love this trainwreck of a man. So a while ago, while writing a very VERY long essay on Best Wishes and all the way it could be improved on (mfw it's 50 pages long ha ha...), I wrote a lengthy part about Trip analysing his character. It's not exactly interesting, however I did propose at the end of it a hc of what could have been interesting. I do like the Alder storyline (even though it needed to be more fleshed out like being introduced earlier in the story, having Trip maybe quote Alder, explaining WHY he clung onto those words...) but if you want an alternative, here you go!

Ash has been in so many different leagues and the last one he was in was incredible, people deemed impossible to defeat Tobias' Darkrai since no gym leader were able to do it! It was a big feat and we know for a fact that leagues are broadcasted in all regions. Knowing Trip, he wouldn't want to go into his Pokemon journey without knowing the league experience (in canon he probably deemed unnecessary to watch other leagues than Unova which might explain why he never saw Ash)

So what if Trip when he first met Ash, recognized him and actually was impressed by him instead of giving him an attitude? He'd be fanboying just as much, maybe saying a few things iconic about his different battles and maybe show some pictures from the one time he travelled to Sinnoh and watched the battle against Paul and Tobias live. He could mention some niche things like Ash's victory at the Orange League or in the Battle Frontier. Ash would be very flustered by that. A bit like with Alder, he could be asking to have a battle but Ash would refuse after seeing that Pikachu wasn't exactly in good health. Trip would be disappointed but maybe understanding about it. He’d still act happy to see Ash whenever they ran into each other.

His admiration for him would chip little by little as he begins to make a name for himself and see that Ash can really act like a fool at times which was not the picture of greatness he painted of him and they have an ultimate face down in the League where Ash would finally defeat him and he sees Ash with his true strength at play in a battle he actually takes seriously, that Ash is just a normal person like any other who doesn’t act any different just because of his fame. I would even dare to say that his contempt for Ash would get higher and higher, then, they'd fight in semi finals and Trip, who had seen all of his fights would actually be able to predict some of his special techniques like that spin he did with his Infernape! But then, Ash, backed into a corner, with only one pokemon left, would turn things around! A new strategy there and a full trust for his pokemon. Maybe it's even Sceptile who fought Darkrai so masterfully that is the sole pokemon standing against Trip's. That was the moment Trip had been waiting for. To see that strength in action, this determination, this fire in his eyes he can glimpse across the battlefield. For the first time ever, he is overwhelmed with happiness at the prospect of losing. They walk towards one another and when they shake hands, for the first time since the beginning, he smiles at Ash letting a genuine compliment slip out.

When out and about to leave, Trip turns around asking gingerly for one more thing: a picture of the two of them to immortalize this moment. Of course knowing the show, everyone else would want to be in there even though Trip only wanted them two but, he finds that he doesn't care. Pictures are a big thing for Trip, it is his way of remembering his journey and it is now the end. He leaves and thanks Ash for everything even though Ash has no idea what he's talking about. He might not have won the league but he won something better: friendship. (heaves)

With this very similar plot but extended on more episodes, you build up the character of Trip and Ash by making them both more interesting in their dynamic. Is it a perfect storyline? No. Honestly it would need more side stories to even be considered remotely interesting. But I like to think about that since it offers a more gradual character development. I haven't seen the series in ages (read by that 10 years) so I would be incapable of talking about specific small plot points where Trip could have been there to improve the scene. In this retelling at least, the heroworship breaking is more gradual than in the Alder episode. We really start with an overly friendly Trip which I think can be an interesting change of pace.

Anywho, of course that's only a small retelling idea I had in mind a while back but I don't think I'll ever find the courage to write about it in length so hi, 'tis now in the public domain for every Trip fans to enjoy.

saw a post abt found family on my dash and it instantly unlocked Thoughts™ so i'm gonna ramble under a read more. thoughts will be both discussion of points brought up in the post and my own thoughts unrelated to it.

(i should also note that i don't hate the post, i do think it brings up some good points, but i don't think i fully see eye to eye with it and reblogging it would feel disingenuous to my own feelings. also i don't think it would be fair to op to reblog it JUST to make counterpoints and observations in the tags. i'm not even sure if all my thoughts would fit in the tag + character limit.)

i'm not trying to defend the western status quo of what a family is here, but if you say family, then lots of people are going to think about a nuclear family first and categorise characters accordingly. that's just how many societies teach shit to people. not saying it's good, but it is how it is. and i doubt that that's going to change anytime soon.

on that note, of COURSE people who sees characters having a parent/child or sibling dynamic are going to get defensive when someone else ships them. that's kind of just common sense??? hell, it's not the exact same but i get weird seeing certain characters shipped if i hc them as aro hard enough. i don't tell people to stop having their own headcanons, though, that's just weird.

although i do think op brings up a good point with their specification of unrelated mature adults, like people get into relationships others many years older/younger than them irl heaps and as long as they're both mature then that's fine. eg a 30 y/o and a 50 y/o getting together is fine.

also i do think that claiming it would be incestuous when the characters are unrelated is going a bit far. and i'm sure op's seen it happen, i can feel it in my bones.

i've never really, truly understood the hype around found family as a concept? and as bizarre as it may sound, i think it's because i have a stable, loving family (and probably the autism as well but mainly the stable family).

i've never even understood the hype around nuclear families. not in a "this is what you should aim for in life" way in this context, but in a "having a family is the greatest and you should love your family" way. like, to me, a family is just either 1; the people you're related to and you kinda just hang out with them i guess, or 2; the people you really really like and care about and you hang out with them.

so when you go to found family, which is meant to reject traditional family roles, i simply?? cannot compute how it's a family??? like a family, to me in my mind, at bare minimum, is siblings. if there aren't even siblings then wouldn't it just be a really close friend group at that point??? and i know this is a case of letting people label their relationships however they want and i should really just shut up and keep my nose out of other peoples' business, but i simply. cannot understand. and maybe it's just past midnight but i don't think i ever will. and i do feel like i'm missing out on something by not understanding why found family is so important to people. why it's so important to my friends.

starting on the positive because there were things i did like in the episode

sam's storyline was definitely the strongest of the two in this ep and i liked pretty much everything he did.

the opening aerial fight! was! so! cool! seeing batroc again was a nice nod to tws too and an interesting parallel to steve's lumerian star fight. i loved seeing his quick tactical thing, seeing how he fights, and the way he utilises the wings even in close quarters.

sam speaks arabic!

sam fixes redwing! (validation of a hc of mine that he's good with robotics. maybe that's a widely held fandom one as well? idk)

i instantly found torres to be really endearing and i'm looking forward to seeing more of him throughout the series. the relationship between him and sam has a lot of potential.

the manipulation of the government and general set up for sam's storyline felt strong. good basis for a story and pertinent to the current political landscape.

sam's speech as he handed over the shield was well written and gave me the same kind of vibes as the 'the price of freedom is high' speech. they could be quite nicely paralleled side by side.

sam's family! look, i'm a sucker for domestic moments for our faves so the entire sequence where we got this insight into sam's past, his relationship with his sister, and where he's come from was brilliant. i like sarah a lot and seeing her frustration with her brother for trying to come in and fix things when he's been gone for so long felt really realistic. i felt for her a lot. because you can tell there's so much there bubbling under the surface, a mix of love and resentment and frustration that was palpable as they talked about what to do with their parents' house/boat/business. so, give me all of the sarah wilson moments pls n thnx.

seeing the consequences of the snap (hi, i am refusing to call it the fucking blip. marvel, my god, get better names for shit.) idk how in depth they're really going to go into it all but at least they attempted something here with the scenes at the bank.

bucky's nightmare sequence as the winter soldier. it was such a brilliant reminder about how terrifying tws actually is. he's silent and ominous and THAT MUSIC. his presence is legitimately unsettling from the moment you see him. (but he runs around like a bull in a china shop which does make me 🤔 when i remember he's supposed to be a g h o s t s t o r y. idk. not exactly stealth and shadow work. but that doesn't look cool on screen so 🤷🏻‍♀️)

and on that note, vindication of my 'they sleep on the floor after coming back' headcanon. literally had raymond holt screaming in my head the second i saw bucky wake up on his living room floor. does my heart break for him? yes. was i smug about being right? also yes.

leah seems cool. could she actually be telepathic??? since she hit every single one of bucky's boats while they played battleships? i would like to see it. 😂 there's def more to her character than meets the eye since she's slated to be in all six episodes.

bucky having one (1) old man friend even if the reason behind it was heartbreaking.

so, yeah. these things i genuinely liked.

things i didn't like

the therapy scene. i genuinely hated it. there's a different between a no nonsense therapist and someone being deliberately antagonistic and that definitely erred on the side of the latter imo. she tells him to 'get over it' and mocks him for not reaching out and meeting people. media in general doesn't do a good job of depicting therapy so this is just yet another poor offering into the canon. i'm tired. i want healthy depictions of therapy already. it's supposed to be a supportive environment ffs.

plus she kept calling him james 🤮 genuinely wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be a bad guy plant. which i think is a cliche at this point? 🤔

bucky's new look. which i know we've seen before now but i've not offered my unsolicited opinion on it. it's just sebastian stan in an ugly leather jacket. it's generic male lead#346. it's broification. someone said they made him look like brock rumlow and now i can't unsee it. 😭 rip to bucky with the good hair. i'd have loved to see him with some curls tbh. or a wave that kind of calls back to his pre-war days. anyway. i digress. character design is 0/10.

would have been nice to see him cut his hair as a marker of him starting a new chapter and coming into his own personhood.

rhodey's disability was just? glossed over? no visible assistive tech at all?

the date. just the fact it was there at all. it was heavy handed and not subtle and we know why they put that in there within the first 10 minutes of bucky's screen time. that's all i'm going to say about it. if you follow me, you know where i stand. we don't need poorly written romance. get it in the bin.

there was no acknowledgement of bucky's relationship with steve. if there was a memorial to be had then bucky should have been there. maybe these will come later but i'm not holding my breath.

is steve dead? i assumed that the party line was that young steve died in the battle and no-one knew about old steve . but did they actually kill steve off-screen? what a kick in the teeth if that's the case. let me just cut open a wound for them to pour the salt straight into, shall i?

things i'm mostly neutral on

john walker. he looks like a cop and his wink at the camera gave me the creeps but i'm interested to see how that pans out. i hope sam beats 50 shades of star spangled shit out of him.

the flag smashers. premise of a world without borders is interesting and a believable concept given what's happened in universe. there's a lot of scope there i think. that said, the name is dumb.

right. i think that covers everything for now. my expectations going in were really low, i won't lie. before the premiere i tried to stay away from the trailers and tv spots and the hype in general so i was pleasantly surprised at how much i enjoyed certain aspects of the show.

in conclusion, some good, some bad, some ugly and i will be cherry picking my favourite nuggets for fic at a later point. also, i'm still a skrull!Steve truther. real steve is chilling with some wakandan goats 😌💖✨

I always appreciate support for my aro spec Eggman headcanon, it's a special comfort hc for me. He really does give off a lot of aro vibes to me and I've always loved how he's a 50+ year old with no romantic partner and how he's totally content with that. It's great to find something relatable with my favorite character when romance is pushed onto us so often in real life and with characters in media. It's really refreshing.

I do wish that aro hcs were more common with a wide variety of characters. Anyone can be aro, even those in relationships! There are no limits and I wish more people would explore that, instead of thinking it's unlikely, 'boring', or refrain in case it's seen as pushing stereotypes. Like how people say I shouldn't hc the bad guy as aro but only hcing the 'innocent and pure' ones as aro is no better, there should be a range! It doesn't discourage me and only makes me want to embrace my Eggman aro hc even more 💜💕

5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be?

I have no fucking idea.

I feel like TKC's characters are all very interconnected, and if you rid them of, at the very least, one other character, you rid them of a good part of what constitutes their character (and especially their arcs). Morgan's story can't be understood isolated from her parents and her siblings, for example. And don't even get me started on the characters in a symbiotic relationship.

However, had I to choose a character to make famous, I would say either Areusa or Cal, though for different reasons, and my answers would change depending on what I want to make them famous for.

I'd like to make Cal famous by virtue of she being a character that's like me in a lot of ways. I don't think I've seen many characters who are like Cal (I can think of Katniss? But then again I read THG a long time ago and can't remember if I actually saw myself in her) even if people talk about there being a lot of MCs that are 'not like other girls'. Idk, I just like tomboyish straight characters ig.

However, I genuinely think Areusa is an important character in the sense that I think her morals are on point. There's a lot of pessimism in her way of thinking (for what she's had to endure), yes, but she's just a good character, and probably the woman I'd like to be, in a way. Areusa isn't swayed by any type of ideology nor rhetoric: she thinks critically and criticises every side equally. She doesn't side with groups, but with certain ideas she finds beneficial, and is indifferent to demagogues's arguments. Also, she's very caring even if she doesn't look/act like it (I have a scene planned, and she'll be *very* important when it comes to Atalanta's character development). Areusa is just a good person, and I'm not saying I don't have any other good characters, but if I had to make a character famous based on what they stand for and the means through which they stand for their ideals, then I would 100% pick Areusa.

I feel like Cal and me would be really good friends since she's very similar to myself, but I'd also love to have Oliver as a friend or Hunter. I also feel like I would love to meet Dario because he's *intelligent* and *eloquent* and his mother because the amount of times I've imagined her criticising the Spanish government are uncountable and I would pay to see that irl. Also, one of Aaron's sisters (of whom I've said nothing beyond the Kirkhams's introduction post) is very like me in the sense that I also based her off me in a way.

So I guess I'd like to meet any of the characters above: Cal and Aaron's sister because they're much like me; Oliver, Hunter, and Dario because *yes*; and Areusa because that woman needs to be in charge of life.

I have this HC that a guy once confessed his feelings for him and Arash, being straight, couldn't reciprocate his feelings but he still became this guy's friend super fast and practically threw a party when he got a boyfriend. Idk if this speaks of Arash's cinnamon roll-ness, but to me Arash = too good to exist (unfortunately...)

So, I'm fucking worried about Charlie and Camille because I don't want to fuck up their characters lol. Especially Charlie. I've come to the conclusion that I'll probably write a sort-of-but-not-really book about Charlie/Arash/Sohrab because *something* will happen, and that's when I'll try to introduce Charlie's gender, and, really, I don't want to fuck it up in any way, but for some reason I have this fear telling me I will (not like the Danish girl, mind you, because that went beyond common sense).

Like, I remember you said it wasn't the place for a cis person to write a genderqueer person's journey with identity, and while Charlie's book *will not* revolve around that because TKC is not about that, her character arc somewhat will? And since then whenever I think of Charlie and remember that I think fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck--

Also, this is pity, but I know I can always consult you for general guidance, but I don't know how much to do it without spoiling it to you nor being annoyed lol

anon i don't think op is trying to guilt trip you or anything, i think they're more or less stating an actual point that readers have been rebloging and liking posts less and less while demanding more content, which is a big reason as to why a lot of writers have been leaving. instead of thinking of it as a personal attack, you should take the feelings of a lot of writers on here into consideration and try to understand them.

I understand op wanting to distinguish between different types of posts but I don’t think I completely agree with not including prompts/headcanons/drabbles in the x reader tag. Those posts ARE x reader...unless op is saying that the only posts that should be in the x reader tag should be fics but also I've been tagging all of the aforementioned as x reader for years and I've seen them being tagged as so by others for years so I don't quite understand where this idea came from that it shouldn't be. i think there’s more of an issue in ppl mass spamming different character tags on their posts than i think there’s a problem in ppl tagging their nonfics as x reader. i get it means less exposure, but you also can’t really force people to read one’s long fic either whether or not it stays at the top of the tags for long...

but also i think my perspective is pretty much limited as to what the fandom’s general consensus on what tagging should be bc i don’t interact with fandom as much, but the lack of interaction (and yeah i think it’s more of a lack of interaction rather than exposure that’s the problem tbh they’re related but not necessarily correlated) that a lot of long fics receive is a problem and warrants a discussion or two.

I think another reason as to why i’m kinda confused is because I thought 'imagines' and 'x reader' are pretty much synonymous when it comes to tagging reader inserts on tumblr. it’s been so long since i’ve been actively searching for fics in the tags but op could might be referring to the one or two sentence "imagine your favorite character..." blurbs that i've seen floating around here or there. also i've also seen prompts turned into fully fleshed out fics, and headcanons have always been in the x reader tag too so?? 😭 maybe my idea of drabbles/prompts/hcs are different from other people’s who knows

I understand op’s point that a lot of ppl have capitalized on so called ‘short fics’ most of which utilize the following formula: short, usually headcanon-like, and nsfw to gather as much as notes as possible but those are STILL x readers unless op and the fandom want to redefine the entire established x reader tagging system? granted, it’s a good idea but it’s also an idea that not everyone is going to adhere to. just look at how much DC in the tags are unproperly tagged

honestly, i think it’s an injustice that a couple of sentences can get 4K notes while one of the most stunning long fics I've ever read gets maybe 50 but I feel like at this point no amount of complaining and venting is ever going to spur people into reblogging and liking, or even reading the fic. this isn’t me saying that writers don’t deserve to be upset that something they put their heart and soul into isn't getting notes, i just think there’s a fundamental problem with the way ppl interact with fics and take them for granted in general. i’m just resigned atp to cringing every time I see my couple hundred nsfw get more notes any other thing ive written rip

also to me a reader insert has always been a character in of itself. like there is absolutely no way to make a reader so vague so the many people reading it can imagine themselves as the reader. literally just no way. i think the in the end the goal with any reader insert is that your readers can project onto and connect with the mc whether that be their worries or insecurities or joy, etc. i think one of the benefits of writing a reader insert is that it’s more flexible. instead of projecting onto and making a canon character OOC to write them in a ship, you can just write a x reader or even an OC. i personally have never envisioned myself as a reader. to me, the reader is just another character. that’s why ultimately, i believe that everything and anything written in the second person format is a reader insert. that’s the conclusion i came to after spending my time on quizilla, quotev, and lunaescence anyway lolllllll it’s also why i prefer named mc’s when reading reader inserts tbh. i dislike (y/n) because i don’t like inserting my name into anything. i just replace it with some some generic name instead

i definitely rambled in this one, it’s just interesting to see everyone’s perspective on fandom and tagging culture. long fics really do deserve attention and exposure. some ppl write 40k+ words!! for free!!! make sure you let your favorite writers know you appreciate their hard work!! even a few words in the askbox can make their day and it doesn’t even take long. i feel like that’s the least ppl can do!!!

I annoyed you all with questions about my writing and now I wanted to let you know about the results (if anybody is interested).

18 people were nice enough to answer, and while that doesn't seem much as a number, I was really blown away by that. Imagine 18 people in a room with you, talking about your writing. That's crazy. 

Thank you all so much for the help! It gave me a good perspective on what to do in the future. And to the people who worried about their answers - please don't. You all helped me a lot. Just the fact that you filled out the form was a lot of motivation for me. ❤🧡💜

Overall people enjoy both sfw and nsfw stuff, especially a combination of both. That's great, because I write that way anyhow.

Most people voted for me to write one shots (anything up to 10k words). Drabbles (100 words), ficlets (under 1k) and multi chapter long fics (10k+ words) got about the same amount of votes, but overall fewer than one shots.

I asked how often I should post and regular HCs/ficlets, occasional one shots and updates on longer fics all got pretty much the same amount of votes. Aside from that, most people just encouraged me to write when I feel like it and don't put pressure on myself. I thought that was really sweet. I can feel the creative freedom 😄

Most people prefer ship fics, and male and gn reader got a few more votes than female reader. I figure that's because I try my best to write more male reader stuff, so it makes sense that my readers would rather read that. There are also quite a few people who don't prefer either, and just read everything. More creative freedom right there 🥳

When I asked which characters I should write about, most people mentioned Arthur, followed by Charles and John, Javier, Sean, Lenny and Eagle Flies. Tilly and Mary Beth were mentioned a few times, but more often there was a wish for ALL the camp ladies. I'll try my best to work with that 🤗

When I asked for ships that I should write for, the top answer was charthur, followed by morston and reader fics with various characters. Also pairs like Arthur/Mary Beth, Arthur/Micah, Sean/Karen or basically just any rare pairs. You know me, that's music to my ears 😁 

(Sidenote: Due to quite an amount of hate coming my way when I wrote Charles, I stayed far away from writing him in any combination, especially charthur. Seeing how much people are asking for it gave me a bit of a nudge, though, so I might give it another go.)

I asked people if they wanted to get tagged to see my fics and 50% said "no" while the other 50% split up in "yes" and "only for specific fics." That means I won't make an official "tag list," but if anybody wants me to tag/dm them when I post certain content, I'd be happy to do so. Just let me know!

In the end, I asked people if there was anything else they wanted to tell me, and pretty much everybody used the chance to say something nice about my writing and that I should write what gives me joy. I was really touched by that 😭🥺 Thank you so much for being kind! Now whenever I feel stuck or bad about my writing, I can go back to that and find new motivation. That means a lot! 💜🧡❤
