umbrella academy characters as music on my playlist of my favorite classical pieces
luther: Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Op. 68 “Pastoral”: II. Szene am Bach: (Andante molto mosso) - Ludwig Van Beethoven (performed by Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique with John Eliot Gardiner as the conductor)
fits season three luther the best
this is the lightest movement of the symphony, which i think fits in with him falling in love with sloane and working on growing through his childhood trauma
the last phrase of the piece is viewed as two birds taking flight. that’s literally him and sloane.
diego: Träumerei (Kinderderszenen, Op. 15) - Gemafrei - Robert Schumann (performed by Ronny Matthes)
also fits season three diego best
this is from a collection of schumann writing pieces that highlight his life (this one is from his dreaming during childhood)
he now has a child (in stan and in his and lila’s biological child) and is essentially dreaming of all the ways he’s going to do better at raising his kid than his dad did for him
allison: Piano Sonata No. 3 in A Minor, Op. 28 - Sergei Prokofiev (performed by Matti Raekallio)
this is a piano sonata that doesn’t have actual movements separating it into chunks, just a vibe difference throughout different parts of it
the most technically demanding of prokofiev piano sonatas and he said it was “pretty, interesting, and practical” (which fits allison pretty well)
klaus: Otello, Act 4: “Ave Maria” (Desdemona) - Guiseppe Verdi (performed by Cristina Gallardo-Domas, Maurizio Barbacini, and Das Münchner Rundfunkorchester)
desdemona’s last moments on stage before getting murdered by her husband, and she’s essentially saying “i love this man with my whole heart and i need to prove that to him before something drastic happens”
klaus is very much so the same due to his whole “i love dave with my whole heart and i need to prove that to him before he dies in a war that uselessly killed a shit ton of people”
they’re also both characters that are unapologetically in love
five: String Quartet No. 8 in C Minor, Op. 110: 1. Largo - Dmitri Shostakovich (performed by the Borodin Quartet)
if the second movement is five in seasons one and two, the first movement is five in season three
he’s pissed off with the world around him, yet he’s stuck with this bone deep tiredness that he can’t get rid of
he just wants all the difficulties in his life to fade away so he can go back to living as close to a normal life as he can
ben: Act 3: LII. Juliet’s Death - Sergei Prokofiev (performed by the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra with Vasily Petrenko as the conductor)
ben is dead in season one and two, but the audience knows that he’s still capable of interacting with others due to klaus’s powers, and the audience knows juliet isn’t actually dead, but romeo thinks she is
this movement is one of the most heart-wrenching in all of classical music
the movement that follows is juliet’s actual death, ending on an even sadder note that this movement began with (similar to ben fucking dying again)
viktor: Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, Op. 36: I. Andante sostenuto - Moderato con anima - Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (performed by San Francisco Orchestra with Michael Tilson Thomas as the conductor)
it’s believed that tchaikovsky composed this when he was pissed off at the world for his inability to be openly queer and he just ended up being tired of everything
follows viktor’s storyline of coming into your true identity and trying to find a sense of confidence with it
lila: Piano Trio in G Major, L. 5: III. Andante espressivo - Claude Debussy (performed by Bertrand Chamayou)
very little is known about the history of the piece (which fits lila)
there’s a lot of emotion present with a lot of vibrato present in the stringed instruments, giving an additional sense of longing
the climax of the piece is very accented, giving it a sense of almost sadness and keeping that longing present

General Information about Harrison / Meet the Muse
WRITER'S NOTE: Once again, we're back at it making more characters, and adding to lore, with the creation of Sloane formerly known as Claire Daniels, I had to revamp her adopted brother, formerly known as Axel Daniels! Originally I had no idea what I wanted to do with "Axel" so he was simply removed to focus on the Atlas'. I feel like I got to a good point with everyone's stories so I wanted to introduce the Blackwood Siblings. TOPIC:  Asking better questions for better problem solving, Innovation and Effective Leadership.
This topic is about how well we can create an environment to produce questions that will help to solve a problem. We live in a dynamic world where there is advancing technology and therefore we have to create queries for better innovations.
Today I am learning these main things about this topic.
1.       Listening to people and their questions.
2.       Observing people and existing technology.
3.       Asking questions for better innovations.
This is research done by Hal Grehersen. He is a senior lecturer in leadership and innovation at MIT’s Sloan school of management.
I will be going into this research for a better understanding of how we need questions in order to create a better solution to a problem. In this research, we learn that questions are important for every successful venture. Learning people and how they make decisions. Leaders of companies or CEO’s have to be able to accommodate problems and not run away from them. Jeff Bezoz and Amazon, He has built one of the biggest market places in the world and he has managed to do so because of his approach towards finding questions and providing a solution towards that problem. Catalytic questions that are talked about and behind every breakthrough, there is a better question.  https://zlib.pub/book/questions-are-the-answer-a-breakthrough-approach-to-your-most-vexing-problems-at-work-and-in-life-158cmnhsu3ro
Download the book from the above link.
First of all, we have to listen in order to dissolve barriers and create solutions. A good question helps us to frame a problem. Great questions have to be solid and have to relate to the surrounding environment where the problem originates from. In all aspect of our life, questions have the unique ability to reveal fresh perspectives and inspire healthy behavior changes. They can help others to open new paths for advancement.
We have to make sure that we are asking the right questions and prompting for a better question. We need to understand the reason why we are creating a product, why this product, what are we solving?
Digital transformation has evolved and there are now advanced technologies and this involves different ways of innovating. Creating space for a question that leads to insight that will provide positive impacts. The power of questions is their ability to reveal opportunities and yield breaking through ideas. We all need answers for structuring our innovations and the best way to increase your chances of getting better answers is by improving your questioning skills. We need to create a condition where questions will come from, creating a group of people or a team to create the questions and accommodating all kinds of questions that are received. There are different types of questions and while some are motivating and instructive, others are downright toxic. Good questions always give great innovation and creativity.
It's wise to always provide a forum for productive questioning. We have to interact with employees and always receive questions, encourage innovators to always ask questions in order for a better way to create better technology for solving a problem. Entrepreneurs with a creative mindset also enjoy imagining how things may be different. The best technique to encourage unique thinking is for people to ask themselves.
Hal also mentions that many of the creative businesspeople remembered the precise inquiries they were making when they first got the idea for a new venture. For instance, Michael Dell explained that the inspiration behind the creation of Dell Computer came from his desire to understand why a computer cost five times as much as the sum of its parts. When he disassembled computers, he noticed that $600 worth of parts went for $3,000 on the open market. He came up with the business strategy that has helped Dell become a major player in the sector with that "Why should it cost so much?" thought in mind.
(Questions are the answers. Author; Hal Gregersen).
Listening, Observing and asking are the most important things about creation and innovation. Sustainable creativity and this involves long term thinking or creating a solution for a long term. We have to think of the future challenges and create questions about a challenge in the future. The most significant technological advancements of our time have been influenced by the strong choices made by great leaders. Strong leadership skills are a requirement for leadership, which must be taken into consideration. Innovative leaders are good at asking questions and they never run away from them either.

okay ! so first step in my revamp is establishing what muses i’m going to be writing ! first and foremost, i’m doing myself a favor and NOT really having primary, secondary muses, etc. muses are weird. sometimes they’re loud, sometimes they’re not. i’m going to write who is loud and when muses go quiet, i sometimes might not write them for a while. i apologize if that happens to be someone you want to interact with. PLEASE know that i love and adore you and i will reply as soon as they wake up again. i’m always happy to plot aus so if you want to do that with someone who is awake, let me know !
i’ll be making a more fancy muse page and stuff, but until i have the spoons to do that, i’ll be posting A LIST under the cut. i’ve almost definitely forgotten at least one muse so if you followed me for someone and they aren’t on here, know that i probably still intend to write them and just forgot. feel free to ask. i will also write certain muses on a request only/private basis so that also works, though mostly for partners i know really well !

so without further ado, here is my current working muse list ( in alphabetical order ):

This is gonna be another long post so...yeah. Do with that what you will.
A List of My Top Ten Favorite Movies (So Far) And Why (In No Particular Order)
#1: Juno
Released: December 5, 2007
Cast: Elliot Page, Michael Cera, Jason Bateman, Jennifer Garner, J.K. Simmons
Tumblr media
The rest of these aren't in order but this is my favorite movie. I've literally only watched it twice but I absolutely love it. It is so beautifully written, the cast is amazing. Every character is amazing and amazingly written. Juno is the perfect main character and is so likeable. And the soundtrack!? Perfection. Honestly, I just love everything about this movie. Literally everything.
#2: Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood
Released: July 26, 2019
Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Dakota Fanning
Tumblr media
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie, only because it took so long for it to get to the final scene. I don't want to call it boring, but for lack of a better word...it was boring. There were hints about what was going on throughout the entire movie and it builds and builds and builds and then we have this insane final scene. What's even better about it is that it's based on something that happened in real life, it just has two characters thrown in, making it never happen. It's such an interesting movie and waiting for it to sort of get to the point is worth it.
#3: Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Released: June 11, 1986
Cast: Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara, Jennifer Gray, Jeffrey Jones
Tumblr media
A classic. This movie is so quotable and so fun even though the concept is, really, pretty simple. Cameron is one of my favorite movie characters ever. I love Matthew Broderick. Sloane is gorgeous. It's just a really fun movie and one of my go to's for every mood.
#4: Signs
Released: July 29, 2002
Cast: Mel Gibson, Joaquin Phoenix, Rory Culkin, Abigail Breslin, Cherry Jones
Tumblr media
This movie is so creepy, mostly because I believe that aliens exist so it isn't like a regular horror/thriller movie because I feel like this is so real. But this movie is so good. The cast, including the kids, is phenomenal. (Yes, unfortunately, even Mel Gibson.) It plays around with so many questions: are aliens real? What if they were? What if signs are real? What if there aren't signs, only coincidences? I'm a fan of M. Night Shyamalan and this is my favorite of his films.
#5: Stranger Than Fiction
Released: November 10, 2006
Cast: Will Ferrell, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Emma Thompson, Dustin Hoffman
Tumblr media
I literally bawl my eyes out every time I watch this. Oh my gosh. So let's start with the fact that this is a more serious role than Will Ferrell usually does, and I love when actors that often just star in comedies pull a, "Hey, I can do this, too!" Harold is such a compelling character, you're just rooting for him the whole time. Every character's interactions with each other are amazing. It's such a sweet story and I really love it a lot.
#6: This is Where I Leave You
Released: September 19, 2014
Cast: Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Adam Driver, Corey Stoll, Rose Byrne
Tumblr media
I just watched this recently and I instantly loved it. I talk about casts a lot but this one is absolutely star-studded and it works so well. It tackles the mourning process well and all of the character's interactions are great. I especially love Rose Byrne but I also just really like Rose Byrne in everything I've seen her in.
#7: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Released: December 25, 2013
Cast: Ben Stiller, Kristen Wiig, Sean Penn, Adam Scott, Patton Oswalt
Tumblr media
I was obsessed with this movie in junior high! I watched it all the time and it still holds up. I love the whimsical fantasy it has to it from time to time and Walter's compelling search for the last photo. This movie is ridiculous sometimes and it knows it and it owns it.
#8: The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Released: September 21, 2012
Cast: Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, Mae Whitman, Paul Rudd
Tumblr media
I read the book and, while the movie isn't completely accurate, it holds up better than most book to movie adaptations. I absolutely love Charlie. Don't get me wrong, Sam is great, Patrick is lovely, but Charlie is amazing, mostly because I relate to him so much in so many ways. The soundtrack to this movie is great, also, and the tunnel scenes are just *chef's kiss* Such a brilliant book and movie.
#9: The Truman Show
Released: June 5, 1998
Cast: Jim Carrey, Laura Linney, Ed Harris, Natascha McElhone
Tumblr media
Another example of a comedian playing a more serious role. Throughout this whole movie, you're just waiting for Truman to find out the truth, for his life to change because the more you watch it, the more you come to love this character. Or, I guess, person. You want the best for him, you want him to break free from this literal cage. It's captivating and angering because this lovable character's entire life is a lie. It's such a brilliant film and I feel like it should get more attention.
#10: Alice in Wonderland
Released: March 5, 2010
Cast: Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter
Tumblr media
Where do I start...this movie is so weird. Which is kind of the point and that's why I love it. The main character doesn't even know what's going on sometimes. Once you figure out what's going on, this movie is just really fun. Kind of. I don't know how to describe this movie, I really don't. But I just love it a lot. There's a dragon and castles and weird creatures and talking animals. Everyone does an excellent job, especially Johnny Depp. I would kill for the Mad Hatter. It's such a weird movie and I can't put my finger on why I love it so much, but I do. I also really like Tim Burton.
Honorable Mentions:
Jojo Rabbit
Crazy Stupid Love
Spider-Man: Homecoming
The Shawshank Redemption
Coraline
Again, if you made it this far, thanks for reading. And, again, 11/10 would recommend all of these, including the honorable mentions.

top five chonces books 💛
screams 😂
1 - high school story + class act - i don't think i need to explain it further than "i am in love with michael harrison and ajay bhandari". look, it's a fun, light-hearted, no high stakes book (the most intense thing being the whole isa chase in book 2) i have a deep love for the app "high school story" (and hollywood u, still kinda salty that got turned into rcd but anyways) it's just fun. my theatre children are close to my heart lol
2 - the royal romance series - don't get me wrong, i'm aware they're milking this cow for all it's worth, but my god, i love liam x mc. maybe it's because i've poured so much time and effort into them, but ugh, love them. and then there's the whole friend group (olivia ily) and how they interact with one another feels believable. sure, i wish that they'd stop making each book practically the same with "mc and co. go around to the different kingdoms to woo them over, have a ball and then have a cliffhanger ending" (trr3 withstanding) and i wish that liam would use his backbone more but it's still near and dear to me
3 - a very scandalous proposal - look. i had vip, and i spent most of that time replaying old books/catching up on books that were coming out bc i couldn't be bothered to play them. but then i played the vip books and i wished i had played them earlier (hot couture not so much but eh) simon/ava x mc are adorable and real. it's not a sudden infatuation with mc and their progression feels natural (the end of chapter 1 excluded lol) + the fact that he hears mc out after the scandal breaks instead of just dismissing her? love that
4 - perfect match - damien nazario 🥺 honestly didn't think i'd like this series as much as i did. i only originally started playing it bc my friend chloe wanted someone to talk about it with, and i loved it. i thought that bc hayden was meant to be mc's literal perfect match, i was gonna dislike him bc i thought he'd be so forced and become annoying, but they worked, so well. and then damien was an option, and i was 100% ready to drop hayden (fjsjs sorry ily) and then sloane! the fact that it's a healthy poly book bumped it up a bit too lol but they all work well together and ugh nadia and steve 🥺🥺🥺
5 - ms. match - ...yes, another vip book, but the romance/tension between jack/jaqueline and mc? give me more of that. the "forbidden love" aspect of it? more pls (you're thrown into a matchmaker job + the competition for ceo and you're not allowed to date coworkers) yes, i'm aware i sound like a broken record, but the romance between these two is so goooooood 🥺 the big fight and make up had me 🥺 they're so good with each other. the sarcasm and banter? ugh so goooood

The Mosley Review: LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special
Tumblr media
In 1978, a famous piece of Star Wars media was released to the world and would be known for its historic failure. It is truly the weirdest and worst tv special ever created for a franchise. Its so bad that even the franchise creator, George Lucas, dismissed it from all canon and refuses acknowledge its very existence. Throughout the Star Wars fandom it became a joke if one day they'll make another holiday special and possibly make the events of the 1978 original canon. Well leave it to Lego to make that dream come true with a fun and hilarious special. I loved the many sight gags and inside jokes, but the special was at its funniest when it poke fun at itself about things that fans either love, hate or thought was ridiculous. I loved the story of this one and it was cool to see the time jumps throughout each era of the saga. Honestly, if they wanted to remake all of the Skywalker Saga films into Lego versions, I would love it.
Tumblr media
The voice cast all did an excellent job and had great comedic moments. Helen Sadler was great as Rey. She captured her genuine curiosity and had fun with her adventurous nature. Omar Miller was great and energetic as Finn. I liked that they addressed Finn's character progression for a bit and showed his interest in becoming a Jedi. Jake Green was fun as a more emotional and happier version of Poe Dameron. Kelly Marie Tran returns as Rose Tico and she was great for the moments she gets. Billy Dee Williams once again returns as our favorite smooth leader and Anthony Daniels is always great as C-3PO with his classic moments of freaking out. Tom Kane was excellent as Yoda and Qui-Gon Jin. He gets to be in a hilarious scene with James Arnold Taylor reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi. It is always great to hear Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker and when he is with Taylor's Obi-Wan, its always magical for the Clone Wars fan in use all.
Tumblr media
The villains in the special were just as fun as the heroes and I loved all the fight scenes. Trevor Duvall voices Emperor Palpatine and I loved his delight and dismay once the future started to effect his present. It was fun to see him plot out a dastardly plan to rule the galaxy forever. Matthew Wood hilariously voiced Kylo Ren and his interaction with the Palpatine was great and his joy to see Darth Vader was funny. The one that really stole the special was Matt Sloan as Darth Vader. He has an epic duel with Rey as they fight through all of the star wars eras and beyond. Some say that heroes are boring and villains are more fun and in this case, they were.
Tumblr media
The score by Michael Kramer was excellent and brought joy throughout the special. The special was visually stunning and the animation and detail in the environments was so crisps. The franchise has had its amazing moments and alot of terrible moments and I loved that this actually acknowledges and pocks fun at itself for them. Some jabs are subtle and the rest are very intentional. If you haven't seen the 1978 original holiday special and you really want to, you can find it somewhere on youtube, but I would honestly just avoid it. This was a fantastic, fun, joyful and hilarious adventure and I highly recommend it to any Star Wars fan or anyone looking for a taste of holiday cheer. It is now streaming on Disney+. Let me know what you thought about the special or my review in the comments below. Thanks for reading and Happy Life Day!

Movie: Blumhouse's Fantasy Island (2020)
⭐⭐⭐☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ | 3 / 10
Welcome to the Blumhouse's Fantasy Island review!
What you're going to enjoy in here is my deepest, fullest, and honest opinion regarding the last year's thriller movie.
Straight to the point, as a fan of both thiller and horror movie, I regard this movie as the one I choose when I-want-some-thriller-but-I'm-currently-not-in-a-serious-mode. I can feel the dissapointment if I was indeed in a serious mode because I would definitely said this Fantasy Island movie was a waste of my time. Not to mention it's 1 hour 48 minutes long.
But since I was just chillin' and had nothing to do, this was okay.
Let me tell you why.
I don't mind the "fantasy" in it and I actually like the basic plot this movie offers about this Mr. Rouke and the horror-thriller-adventure of his 5 intended guests. When I first noticed there was going to be a new thriller movie with players whom I quite familiar with, I was pretty excited. Then I saw some reviews, mostly not very good, which made me kinda put aside Fantasy Island on watch lists. Later on I decided to just enjoy the story, maybe it's not as bad as some people said.
As I mentioned before, fantasy is fine with me and it actually has a very great potential, but how they deliver it is what bothers me. Or just not my preference.
Adventure? absolutely.
Fantasy? don't even ask.
Action? well, it's there.
Thriller? a little bit shy and looks PG 13 but it's still there.
Horror? hard to say, there are some supernatural things but definitely not scary.
The level of seriousness in this movie is so light. It somehow reminds me of Scooby-Doo's thriller adventure vibe, exaggeratingly, with little more daring scenes.
Tumblr media
If Mr. Rouke's mysterious profile or charisma is directed to be more like Willy Wonka, the surreal atmosphere definitely feels like my old cartoon show. Although Jeff Wadlow probably didn't intend to create that kind of vibe. Nonetheless, I still think Michael Peña doesn't fit the role for Mr. Rouke. Unexpectedly, his acting was too stiff, just like both Brax (played by Jimmy O. Yang) and JD (played by Ryan Hansen). The Weaver brothers even have some cringy interactions.
Tumblr media
In some thriller movies, usually there are this typical formation of characters. Like in Fantasy Island; there are Brax and JD as the funny guys, Sloane (played by Portia Doubleday) as the damsel in distress, Patrick (played by Austin Stowell) as the brave one with some certain combat or survival skill. But the most cheesy role for me is the wiser or one who supprisingly knows a lot.
Like this guy, Damon (played by Michael Rooker).
Tumblr media
A.k.a the outsider hero who has a major role in connecting the strings between problem and solution. Usually die in the middle sacrificing him/herself.
But then cheesy or not, it always goes back to preference.
Talk about the twist, I like it. Just need more convincing and less cheesy encounter in the back of the story. Again, the twist scene still feels like the twist in scooby-doo.
If you guys like a more light fantasy thriller movie, I think Fantasy Island would be an okay choice. It gives a new atmosphere of thiller story and a fun cinematography with its' colorful beach theme. Then regarding the story, aren't you agree that the feeling of gaining our deepest fantasy into a reality is quite overwhelming, imagine consciously role-playing our own dreams.

Francie Calfo
Male Characters:
Sark
Jack Bristow
Arvin Sloane
Dixon
Marshall
Kendall
Michael Vaughn
Zoran Sokolov
Will Tippin

Other Notes:
While it’s good to see Dixon object to Sark now working with SD-6, I really wish he’d pointed out that Sark had worked for the same people who’d broken into their HQ last season.
The SD-6 mission at the start of the episode feels as if it were from an entirely different show, what with it involving an actual extended conversation with someone who is actually not very nice, who then just goes on with his day.
Lena Olin’s pronunciation of the word “sabotage” is distressingly sexy.
Will is doing his best, and is not getting enough appreciation from the C.I.A. :(
(At least Vaughn is there for him.)
All of the interactions between the Bristows are gold, but I’m particularly fond of Jack’s “your motherhood is a biological fact with no substantive value in Sydney’s life,” which is kind of rich for this series.
We know the People’s Revolutionary Front is made out of true believers because nobody in the group actually ever audience-tested that name.
This woman only appears for five seconds, but I want to know everything about her.
Tumblr media
After building towards it all season, we finally get all three members of the Spy Family together on the field, and it is great.  More next post.

I’m really surprised and quite shocked today. I’m new to the fandom and Tumblr and since I’ve joined this place, I’ve seen a little bit of negativity here and there but it wasn’t something that made me feel like “get the hell out of here”. But going through the NCIS tag today made me feel like that. And it hurts.
Why are people acting the world ends? Why are people ranting, complaining and demanding the show to end? I love NCIS, I love Ziva and I’m one of the many Tiva shippers and while I also would have prefered to see Ziva and Tony reuniting on screen, preferably with Tali, I don’t understand how people can actually act like they did/do in the tags.
There have been times when I was upset with a certain storyline or anything, I get that we all sometimes deal with emotions that have a very wide range from happieness to sadness and so on. And I think it’s okay if we feel those emotions for fictional characters but to go as far as some have done since 17x11 aired?
Going through the tag and reading certain things is really not healthy. I’ve seen people who are not into Tiva say that we shippers are obsessed and entitled. Until today, I never understood why anyone would say those things about Tiva shippers. Now I do. While I understand the wish for our favorite characters to be happy, I don’t think it’s something we are owed. We all know from real life that not everyone gets a happy ending or justice. And NCIS is a show that is mostly fictional, it also deals with a lot of real life issues (terrorists for example) and we shouldn’t forget about it.
But we do know that Ziva has her happy ending. She is free of her past and the dangers that sent her into hiding. She can finally go home to her man and daughter. I would have prefered to see their reunion on screen but this time, there is nothing that stops Tony and Ziva from getting together, there is nothing that stops Ziva being the mother to Tali she wants to be. Without the danger of her past coming back. So in the end, the happy ending did happen. And that is what the return of Ziva was about. Ziva had the team and Gibbs to help her deal with the dangers while Tony took Tali into hiding and made sure she’s okay. Because Tali is the most important person to Ziva, she’s her everything and Ziva risked her own life to make sure Tali would be safe. Always.
Now they are together. And we know that Senior is coming back this season. I get that Michael is busy with his schedule for Bull and his family and Robert might be having other projects or engagements so neither of them had the time for an appearance in 17x11. But we know they all have their happy ending.
Also, NCIS really is an ensamble show. True, some characters get more storylines and screentime than others but Ziva - in the 17th season - is a guest star. Her first 3 episodes this season were heavily about her and most of the main characters had to take the back seat. Which is in all honesty not fair. Neither to the actors, the characters nor their fans. It was absolutely okay that this episode was not all about Ziva.
How many people were complaining we didn’t get to see Ziva interacting with Sloane, for example? How we didn’t get enough scenes of Ziva with this or that character. We finally got that in this episode. We also got to see Ziva struggleing with her emotions and fears. She got to say goodbye to her old team and the new people that have come to mean a lot to her, too.
I guess I’m just trying to wrap my head around all this negativity when we have actually been given and blessed with a lot this season in regards to Ziva.
It bothers me that other NCIS fans think of Tiva fans as entitled, obsessed and demanding and I hope they know that not every Tiva fan is like that.
Every character and pairings has their fans and there isn’t a single character or ship that is more important that the others. One look through the tags told me what this fandom is missing: respect! Respect for the writers, actors, crew, producers, characters and the fandom.

a multi-muse survey
tagged by @weryourlegacy @sinceatwistoffaith @curveofthe-earth
name of your favorite muse: Michaela Hayes (Lea Michele) will always be the closest to my heart. I have been playing her for 10 years through so many different rps. I just never get sick of playing her story out and I determined to until she gets a happy ending.
name of your very first muse: Logan Dugray (Chad Michael Murray) I kind of started with a few honestly on the same day but he was the one that I felt I had a real grasp on. He was a sweet guy that really wasn’t prepared for how harsh the world was.
name of your meanest muse: Carson Porter (Seb Stan). He can be charming and fun but past catching him at a party he is just cruel. He’ll say anything to get a reaction or make himself feel above others.
name of your nicest muse: Roxanne Woodruff (Shantel VanSanten) She is genuine in every interaction. Completely empathetic and naive to a lot of things or people. She just always wants to leave someone feeling better than when they first started talking.
name of your most troubled muse: Atticus Hirt (Barry Sloane). He has a very dark beginning that he had no part in but has haunted him his whole life. A child born from rape, he has carried a guilt that he doesn’t deserve but uses his work to try and fix. His heart really does care about people but he can only show that with his job and refuses to get the mental health help that he needs. He fixates on things he can’t solve until it consumes him.
character you have the most muse for atm: I always have the most muse for Rae Thorne (Lucy Hale) and Flynn O’Malley (Grant Gustin) just because they are just so the opposite of me. Both bold in their own way and basically have the talents that I want haha. I feel like their complications are very much real, but don’t necessarily stem from something big and tragic, well at least Rae’s. They don’t always see their selfishness in what they do. Every choice they make is pretty much the opposite of what comes natural to me so it’s just fun to play that out.
two of your muses that would never get along: Alex March (Rachel Bilson) and everyone? Haha. No I would definitely say her and Billy Danes Jr. (Michael B. Jordan) they both have a lot of untapped anger inside them but they handle interactions so much alike that they would just bud heads way too often that conversation would barely be capable of happening.
two of your muses that could be best friends: Hope Donovan (Tamera Mowry-Housley) and Cobie Brigance (Hilarie Burton). Would just be a lot of eating, gossiping, and karaoke nights.
two of your muses that would make a cute couple: Noah Carter (John Krasinski) and Michaela Hayes (Lea Michele). They’d make such a sweet little family. And she’d finally have that love and security that she always wanted, and he would have the warm close family he never had.
two of your muses that are most similar: Cooper Wheatley (Jared Padalecki) and Bradley Jordan (KJ Apa). They both were much more mature before most guys their ages due to the things they went through that forced them to grow up faster than they should of had to. Both the quiet strong type. Both had to let go of their dream and settle for something else.
name of the muse you’d be best friends with irl: Dani Bradford (Olivia Wilde). It would be nothing but sarcasm, country music, and sports. Though I’d love to hang with James Leahly (Shenae Grimes) cause she is just a goof and cheerful, and loves movies and walks.
name of the muse you’d probably hate irl: Gosh so many... Sterling Welles (Evan Roderick) comes to mind first. He is so entitled and aware of it but basks in it more than anything. And Landon Keats (Jesse Williams) while he has his reasons he’s just a grump all the time and doesn’t hold back his pessimistic views.
a faceclaim you’ve been eager to use: There are like 80 new ones every week, so currently I have been really wanting to use... Keith Powers, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel, and Matthew Goode. Then I just have all the old muses I want to use again.
Everyone has basically been tagged that I interact with so I’ve got no one.

TNG: “Unification I”
Tumblr media
Starfleet intelligence has obtained an image of Ambassador Spock on the planet Romulus, implying that he may have defected to the Romulan Empire.  Captain Picard and Lt. Commander Data undertake a dangerous secret mission, posing as Romulans, to locate Spock and determine his true motives.  Meanwhile the rest of the Enterprise crew investigates debris from the Vulcan spacecraft T’Pau found amid the wreckage of a crashed Ferengi ship.
As I remember it, this episode was part of a grand celebration of Star Trek’s 25th anniversary--while Leonard Nimoy visited Star Trek: The Next Generation as (a remarkably well-preserved) Spock, Michael Dorn interacted with the cast of the original series as Lieutenant Worf’s grandfather in Star Trek VI.  (In the conclusion to this episode, Spock even alludes to events from Star Trek VI for maximum synergy.)  There was a marathon of Star Trek reruns one weekend and a TV documentary on the history of the franchise.  This was all a big deal to me at the time, since I’d only gotten into this stuff a little over a year earlier, and I was eager to consume all the Star Trek lore I could get my hands on.  So I found it especially tragic when I learned shortly before this episode aired that Gene Roddenberry’s had died.
Today I know that Roddenberry had long since been removed from authority over Star Trek: The Next Generation (and he’d been politicked away from the movie series well before that), because his futurist vision was increasingly at odds with good storytelling.  But his name was still all over the show (and the movies), so in 1991 I just assumed he was overseeing every aspect of his creation until the day he died, like Walt Disney or Jim Henson.  I don’t remember worrying that the franchise would fall into decline without his leadership.  But it felt cruel to me that he didn’t live to see the “crossover” between “Unification” and Star Trek VI come to fruition.
Since the cliffhanger of this two-parter is that you only get to see Spock for a couple of seconds at the end of part one, this episode busies itself showing Picard preparing for the mission to Romulus.  This ought to be an incredibly risky operation--if they’re caught, it could plunge the whole quadrant into war--but everyone just acts like the worst that could happen is Picard and Data could be executed.  Then again, considering how easily Picard and Data waltz into town eating soup, maybe this sort of thing happens all the time.  Maybe Earth and Romulus each have a dozen of the other’s spies running around at any given time.
Years after this episode, we’ll be introduced to Section 31, a secret intelligence agency that flaunts interstellar law to do the dirty work that Starfleet can’t, in order to safeguard the Federation.  I can’t fault this episode for failing to anticipate that premise.  Still, in retrospect Picard’s mission is clearly a job for Section 31’s “men in black.”  I would imagine somebody like Luther Sloane is furious that one of the most famous humans in the galaxy has stuck his nose into such a delicate affair, and he’s running around in fake rubber ears, and he roped the Klingons into this for crying out loud, and he waited until he was on the planet to tell his idiot android to stop calling him “Captain.”
The whole subplot about the T’Pau always baffles me.  It comes together in the second part so I’ll try to summarize my confusion later.  But for now let me just point out that the Enterprise has chunks of the T’Pau’s navigational deflector, which had been taken off the T’Pau to install on the USS Tripoli, but now both ships are missing.  We never really find out how the deflector ended up in that Ferengi shipwreck, or what happened to the Tripoli.  I’m especially confused how anyone trying to steal the T’Pau or the Tripoli could have gotten very far without a navigational deflector, which seems like a pretty important component.

so to me, one of the hallmarks of a good piece of media is people willingly thinking about the characters after it’s over.
obviously, this isn’t like, a 100% success rate kind of thing. there are objectively good, enjoyable pieces of media out there that have no “fandom” type presence on the internet, because, while it exhibited great worldbuilding/storytelling/framing/what have you, it just wasn’t made up of the kinds of characters that people latch on to; the joke about avatar (2009) having less than 100 fics on ao3 despite being the best selling movie of all time for a solid decade is well known because of this phenomenon exactly. amazing cgi, solid plot, but at the end of the day, not that many people cared about jake sully. even still, i think this character-imprinting thing has an important, often overlooked role in intrinsically endearing people to movies that, outside of this factor, might be easily forgettable or even outright disliked.
case in point: my movie of the day/week/month (how often do i post on this blog, anyway?)....
that’s right, lads, today i’m going to talk about the lost boys.
if you’ve seen the lost boys, you’ll probably know that it’s not like, objectively, a masterpiece. in fact, if i were feeling particularly uncharitable, it would be easy for me to describe it as a fairly straightforward, low-budget horror b-movie, with a aesop-heavy and simplistic plot and a penchant for cheesy special effects, saved only by its rockin’ soundtrack.
...but i won’t.
i won’t, because using that description would leave out a detail i think it’s completely unfair of me not to touch on: the characters. i love them!! i was hooked from just about the very start of the movie by david’s creepy, affably evil leadership style, sam’s dorky little brother-ness, and michael’s 3cool5school airs. each of the characters, down to the frog brothers (named edgar and allan after the esteemed mr. poe, which really tickled me), the other lost boys, grandpa, lucy, and max, have their own distinct quirkiness that makes them memorable and draws me to want to explore more of their world, more of their stories.
not enough to watch the infamous direct-to-dvd sequels, of course, but you get what i’m saying.
there’s an old tip in writing that says something along the lines of “good characters can save a bad plot, but a good plot can’t save bad characters,” and that pretty much sums up my thoughts exactly on this movie. like, the plot itself is pretty much the message ‘peer pressure is bad’ wrapped up in some ugly monster makeup; not exactly cult classic material. however, like i’ve said, the characters and the fact that we get genuine, endearing interactions between them outside of just furthering the plot save it from the dumpster fire and, together, put together a story greater than the sum of its parts. no, it’s not a fuckin’ cinematic masterpiece by any stretch of the words, but it’s a fun movie, and there’s a reason i’ve watched it four times in the past three days, you know?
(a good chunk of that reason was me slowly losing my grip on my sanity as i frantically put in the dvd over and over again, desperately trying to make myself attracted to kiefer sutherland so i could enjoy the movie to the fullest extent of my ability. i’m proud to announce a perfect success rate, and a slightly degraded sense of taste in men, reflecting the completion of that goal.
if you too want to find something to lust after beyond his objectively ugly as sin face, trust me when i say it’s all in the voice. mmmmm)
my favorite thing that the lost boys did was the exploration of different types of friendship and familial bonds. that’s the most striking thing about the movie for me; not only are the characters individuals whom i would like to explore, their interactions with each other are touching and worth exploring in their own right. there’s definitely something about some stories that drives people to write fanfiction (or is that just me? ha ha), and imo, the lost boys totally has it. in fact, while the fandom is sitting pretty at 600+ fics on ao3 (take that, avatar), i was honestly sort of surprised there weren’t more, exploring all the interesting ‘what if’s’ the film presented, and expounding on the bonds that we got to see the effects of in the limited screentime we had.
what i liked about those bonds was that there were such a multitude of them. there were quite a few platonic bonds making up the crux of the movie (being, in my opinion, much more interesting than the main romantic bond which was explored through star and michael, although isn’t that kind of always the case in these 80′s teen movies? i can’t think of a single designated couple i was actually invested in except for veronica sawyer and jason dean... ferris bueller and sloane peterson, maybe? but i also feel like those two were making a cameron sandwich, so idk if it counts lol), but the way they were treated was cool in that they were unique: we got to see two different kinds of sibling bonds, with michael and sam emerson joking around in an easy, teasing way that totally screamed “wow, this movie was written by someone who actually has a brother” to me (isn’t it sad that some people have clearly never so much as seen a set of siblings in their life, judging by the way they write them?) while edgar and allan frog seem to take themselves more seriously, like a pair of army buddies, we got to see the pack-like bond of the lost boys and the (mostly) good-natured way they hazed michael into their group before things went to shit with them, we got to see star (and some of the lost boys, if you pay attention) being protective and maternal around laddie, and we got to see the uneasy alliance turned nerdy friendship between the frogs and sam. there are also three parent-child bonds that get explored, between lucy and her father (it’s a pretty sweet take on the kindhearted grown child taking care of senile-ish father thing) and lucy and her boys, each of which she has a distinct relationship with: sam is the baby, while michael she seems to level with and trust more, even after he starts getting into trouble and acting up.
then of course there are two (three, if you count the widow johnson/grandpa emerson subplot, which.... i totally do) romantic relationships: star and michael falling in a sort of love-at-first-sight passionate relationship that soon dooms mikey and eventually saves star, while lucy tries her best to get back into the dating game with max, who is nefarious, of course, but also a little bit sad. remember what i said about what-ifs? i would love to see a fic exploring what might have happened had max’s plan worked out after all, but i guess that’s neither here nor there.
not to be a blatant slash shipper jumping on any two male characters who move or anything, but i think possibly the most important/influential relationship in the whole thing was that between david and michael; michael, obviously, got drawn into the lost boys’ circle by his insta-attraction to star, but he sticks around because of david. he pretty much ignores star once they get to the cliff that night, his attention focused on david because he’s there, and he’s intense, and michael is kind of a dumb bi bitch totally captivated. he drinks max’s blood at david’s taunting, and in direct opposition to star’s advice. there’s a lot i could say on this subject but tbh i’m running out of steam, so that might be a thing for a whole different post.
basically, there are a lot of cool interactions in this movie, and i think a lot of film makers could take note of that. even critically acclaimed, award winning movies being made in today’s world tend to fail to hit that special note, that character-imprintation which makes the audience not only stay engaged to the end, but also to care. not every movie needs that, of course; not everything can launch a darkhorse fandom the way the lost boys has, and honestly, not everything should... unless it’s trying to cater to my interests, in which case, well.
if all movies were made to cater to my interests, i would have the time of my fucking life, but it’d probably be dark days for the rest of y’all.
thinking about it now, the lack of that element is kind of what makes me wary of the horror genre in the first place; i find so many of those movies just boring as all hell, because they’re too into the “scaring” thing without any of the “caring” thing. people, if we don’t care about the characters we’re watching, then who the fuck gives a shit if they get devoured by shitsucking vampires, anyway? finding the lost boys, a “horror” (i guess i use the term loosely) movie which relied heavily on those character interactions was honestly a godsend, because THIS is what i want to see more of. going down that line of thought, i think it’s honestly a shame and a half that the sequels which joel schumacher planned never got to see the light of day (and, of course, that we were instead left with the tribe, which for the life of me i refuse to fucking watch). the interactions between the lost boys could have been the most interesting part of the movie, if only they had been spotlighted a bit more. that would have been the case in the proposed prequel, the beginning, which would see the boys start out before they became vampires at all. reading about the script for that is honestly sending me, tbh. we could have seen that, and what we got instead were “sequels” that focused mainly on the frogs, when they connected to the original movie at all? where’s the fucking justice?
whatever. that’s the one thing about this franchise i never could stomach; all the damn frog brothers.
(till next time!)
