Of the units, I think Zool has the most real world idol music, with Trigger coming in second. I7 is straight up anime music (but I love it)

This feels like an ask challenge now! I have to get a good grade in ask game, something that is both...so on and so forth lol

Nanase Riku:

I love him and Iori's monster/handler dynamic because it just feels like yet another example of what makes i7 so good, the human intensity of all the characters and their relationships. Plus that they were so spot-on with Riku even in real life, re: the shrimp chips, the tea boxes, etc. He's got the power, and Iori can see the fallout coming even while his star is not yet going supernova.

Kujo Takamasa:

Mostly my headcanons have to do with Zero: the Musical and how that whole process went. Did Zero have these songs written after the fact or during the stages when the songs are sung in his story? Was he planning on having a musical of his life, or was that all Kujo's doing, some unacknowledged attempt to get Zero back and lay his own demons to rest finally? Did Kujo save these songs, gut out Zero's place in his search and hide the songs from Haruki, or did Haruki leave them to him in that will in a gesture of "you're the last of us"?

I should go re-read Part 5 again.

Kujo/Yotsuba Aya:

She's a tragedy, but I do love the scene where Tsumugi almost runs her over as she's trying to get to Tamaki once she hears she's sick. So much happens to her that just breaks your heart.

Rokuya Nagi:

That conversation at the riverside barbecue in First Beat is still something I look forward to in rewatches, because it impressed me so much when I first saw it. Of course, he surprises them over and over again throughout the series but that was the first layer peeled back on the assumptions we all make with characters like him, with an accent and a love for anime, who else could he be but the joke character who's clueless and air-headed?

Izumi Mitsuki:

My boiiiiii!! My i7 favorite from the group, his arc was the one that hit the hardest for me and the characterization of him from others as not being especially talented but he tries really hard being his best quality got me right in the heart. The people who make the party go round, who smooth the rails of conversation so everyone joins in and gets along have an unsung job, until someone doesn't do it and then you notice all the awkwardness and the stilted words. I remember Iori put it well somewhere that Mitsuki makes the show go smoothly from the production side, whereas others make the show feel smooth from the audience side. Or something like that, but it was really insightful.

I didn't manage to nail his exact shade on this bingo sheet, but I also love his peachy color.

So the neat thing about Idolish7 music videos I'm finding is that a lot of them are given to other animation studios that might not normally be involved with I7 (the TV anime is all done by studio Troyca, but since it's a game franchise first with an emphasis on CD and music sales, they include a fun little music video bonus on the deluxe edition of the CDs.)

Happy Anniversary, IDOLiSH7!

Alright! A bunch of stuff got announced to celebrate the series' 8th anniversary today, so lets break down the most important things regarding our favorite group, TRIGGER!

You've probably heard this stuff already but hey. I do what I want and I'm making this post anyway.

First up, let's get all the smaller 8th Anniversary stuff out of the way! Plenty of stuff has been changed and announced to help bring the series into its latest era, and all of it is very exciting!

Special Anniversary visuals by the series' main character designers have been shared and released!

... Also I feel like it's worth noting that Arina-sensei has made it clear that we've reached TRIGGER's numbers in terms of anniversaries, and that reflects in her art. Meaning, maybe it'll reflect in other things too...?!

The game is hosting weekly free 11-pulls which bring back Heavenly Visitor, Wish Voyage, Kiseki, Music in Your Thoughts, and Light Future cards! On top of that, there's a log-in bonus for nanakores and 80 Stellar Stones in total!

The game has been refreshed with a few new features like notifications on screen when you get a message from an idol/manager, more idol storage, and even special voice lines that play before a live, after an auto live finishes, and if you manage to full-combo the song. The "hey, there's an event going on" home screen line has been replaced, too, thank fuck.

A new Namjatown collab has been announced that covers the idol in glowy clothing!

The official website has been completely overhauled including brand-new bios for the idols!

Now, onto the really fun stuff...

Shuffle Units are back!!

As part of the yearly anniversary story, we're finally getting Shuffle Units including Re:vale and ZOOL! As of Producer Letter 26, it's been confirmed that these units will be themed and have special songs for each, but the themes haven't been shared yet! We may have to read the two-part story to find out!

Part 1 will release September 5th, and Part 2 will release September 15th! It won't be voiced, though. Voice acting will come at a later date.

Kuji Memorial Video & Cards!

What's likely the most surprising thing of all for the anniversary is that it's big surprise looks back on all of the dramas IDOLiSH7's cast have starred in over the last seven years - down to releasing an animated memorial video that covers everything from La Danse Macabre to the Last Dimension musical! There's a lot of shots of TRIGGER to spot, so if you haven't seen it yet, go watch it! It's pure emotional eye candy!

On top of that, the yearly revival gacha deals with it, too, featuring special UR cards that focus on specific scenes from Mechanical Lullaby, i7 Police, Hoshimeguri (now known in English as The Stargazer?), Karatoga, La Danse Macabre, Mission (Yamato's movie from Part 3), and BLAST! (Part 5 drama)

The best part is all the old cards, including the same kujis shown here, are in these pulls, too! Best of luck if you try to bring them home!

Producer Letter #26 Takeaways

As is tradition with i7 anniversaries, there's a new Producer Letter that goes over what the current and future plans for the series are that has a few interesting tidbits fans should be aware of! I'll break it down, but if you can, I suggest reading it in your own time.

The team is still figuring out what exactly comes "beyond the period" in terms of the story, so no updates on that just yet.

They're wanting to do another 16 person live, but they're trying to book a "difficult venue" so many fans can see it. Some fans believe this to be a hint that they're trying to book the Tokyo Dome. 😱 But 16 person live isn't an impossibility!

They've implies that they're working out international distribution and screening for the recent movie Beyond the Period! So sit tight if you haven't gotten a hold of it for yourself yet!

That's about it! Pretty damn big anniversary, isn't it?! Let's enjoy it to the fullest and keep supporting TRIGGER and their friends!!

Does i7 actually have music? I know they're idols but I've never seen you mention any songs or units. (Sorry if this comes across as rude/mean, I'm just not sure how else to phrase this).

If they do, what's your favorite unit, music wise?

No no dont worry. Yeah im a guy who's usually more interested in stories than music, but they do very much have songs, and it's all on spotify if you want to listen. Some of the screenshots from yesterday are actually from official lyric videos (the hand holding, ioriku dancing, and the sherlock clock tower photos). My favorite songs are from my favorite group character and story wise too, so, Re:vale. Taiyo no Esperanza (seeing it in the anime after it having been my favorite i7 song for so long was a cultural reset. Especially because of what they did with the performance...no spoilers tho no spoilers), Silver Sky, Dis One, TO MY DEAREST!!!! Pretty much the entire Re:al Axis album. I havent listened to every i7 song tho i admit, i tend to focus on Re:vale the most. Look how beautiful the lyrics videos are though!. Idolish7 Trigger Zool and Re:vale (my fav video. How surprising, i know)

Other groups' songs i also like are Wonder Light, Imperial Chain, Never lose, my rule. Ah im so bad at remembering songs sorry. TENN'S COVER OF DIS ONE...that one's really good.

IDOLISH7 Part 6 Thoughts

Since i finish reading idolish7 part 6. I would like to write my thoughts on my overall thought of part 6 as a whole

Continue from ending of part 5. We saw that Zero Musical by TRIGGER was a big success and Sosuke was able to scout TRIGGER back under Yaotome production. I am happy for TRIGGER going through everything from back in Part3 going back to where they belong once again.

Kujou asking Tenn and Alya to go back to where they come back from. Which was quite irresponsible of him. I always thought that once Kujou time was stop down there ever since Zero disappear, Similar to Yuki back then when he thought he had lost Banri. However, Yuki had Momo to bring him out of that world unlike Kujou who never had anyone and Tenn and Alya weren’t able to help to let him let go of the ghost call ‘Zero’ back then.

Thankfully due to the Zero Musical. Kujou was able to feel the time he, Haruki and Zero felt back then and he had came to acknowledge and let go of that persistence and that was something he had been living on since Zero disappeared. I really love how this part was written about Zero and how Tenn immediately lecture Kujou that he had change his live and not to run away from his responsibility.

I also love how I mange to see Tamaki inner conflict. Tamaki had really grown alot. He had learn to so much considerate of his team mate and especially his partner Sougo. He and Sougo had really bonded so much since they first started as Mezzo that it brings me to tear.

Tamaki is now lost seeing that everyone had a purpose even Sougo found what he wanted to do as a composer. He however had no goal at all. I am glad that he manage to find a purpose in composing dance step for IDOLISH7 and feel so proud of him.

Zool had even come a longer way. I love how the Zool member bonded. I always knew Torao parent must have devoid him of any passion of doing anything due to always rejecting whenever he said he wanted to do something. However, i never expected it scarred Torao so deep that he wasn’t hesitant to even speak up of what he actually wanted to do those whom he cared about and him not being able to speak about it naturally to the other Zool member shown how much he had grown closer to them seeing them as a family.

Also, It warm that it bring a smile on my face seeing how Zool member Touma Minami was there to comfort Torao and their interaction with Ryou. They were all grateful to Ryou for bringing them together.

Seeing their speech at BORW, tears me up a little looking back at how i read everything since part 1. How everyone come so far gone through so many together.

The performance was wonderful as well. I was thinking it might be a draw since every group did well. I was surprise when i7 won, though sad for other group.  I am happy for i7 seeing how far they have come since part 1. I would cried if I was their manager and watching them since the start singing on the road side to where they are today. To be honest everyone was was a winner to me at BORW. 

It was a nice wrap up for the milestone. The staff aligning it with New year count down makes me feel like I was actually watching BORW live and counting down with them. 

Overall, I enjoy Part 6 the warm laughter and everything that i brought me watching i7, Zool bond and how Re:Vale was such great Senpai always brought me a smile.

About Idolish7... (If you are a fan of this anime, you better not read this because you won't like it) 🙃

I've given Idolish7 a second chance because on the internet, it's been getting a lot of hype, saying that it's not the typical idol anime, that it's not what it looks like, they compare it to Oshi no Ko, blah blah blah so I said to myself "Why not? Maybe this way I'll put aside my disgust for idol shows 🤷🏼‍♀️"

I mean, to be honest I love TsukiPro/Uta 💕 so how bad Idolish7 can be?

Well, I'm on S2 E7 and so far I can say that the whole anime is It's like running on a hamster wheel, always the same. These people, Idolish7, are like a toxic couple, they don't stop fighting and making up and the worst thing is that it's always for the same thing, they do not evolve or anything, they always end up upset for the same reasons over and over again 🤦🏼‍♀️

Of all the songs I've listened to, I still don't like even one, but I expected that, I don't like idol music, Tsukiuta/Pro is like a miracle, the exception to the rule in my case 😂 (Well, I admit that I also like Utapri's songs and I find them good 🤔 so there are 2 exceptions to the rule).

But the worst of all in my opinion and for the moment, are Tamaki and Riku, they need a couple of well given slaps 😒.

Tamaki behaves like a spoiled kindergarten kid, I mean, there's a limit to how egotistical one can be, don't you realize that you cause problems to the rest with such an unprofessional attitude? It's your job buddy! There are things you can and can't do and Riku… Ah Riku, this guy lives in his yuppie world, his idealism/happiness borders on the absurd, he looks like an abandoned puppy all the time "Tenn-ni doesn't recognize me" boy, snap out of it and leave your brother alone already 🙄 Is it that his character can't do anything that doesn't revolve around Kujo Tenn?

They just exhaust me, I swear to god all I7 members exhaust me.

Luckily for everyone there are 2 more groups 🙏🏻 I haven't seen too much of RE:Vale yet, so I can't give my opinion, but thank goodness, I thank heavens that Trigger exists because otherwise I would have shot myself by now because of how annoying Starish 2.0 are 😩

…Back at it after so long…(I can’t help it though – Crunchyroll, per month, is about double the local Funimation sublicensor’s fees, and for much less content that’s worth my money to boot!)

I’ve always thought Momo was like Sasara (HypMic), so seeing him anguished hurts me in the kokoro too…

I know Banri was involved with Re:vale somehow…this must be it.

…Male idols are also popular among men? Is this why there are 8 (!!!) idol anime in winter 2021 alone…? (Also, that’s why HypMic became popular? Multidemographic appeal crossed over with obvious merchandising opportunities?)

It’s kind of scary how Momo stepped the formality towards Yuki like that (to -san).

I guess in his heart Momo still reveres Yuki, some way or another.

The rakugo curtain really sold the moment that they (current Re:vale) were acting like an old married couple.

…I see. The elder Kujo is entrusting his dream to Tenn, so that’s why he banned Aya from seeing Tamaki. However, it’s hard to know what to feel when Aya speaks in the vaguest terms possible.

I think that was a special ending for only this episode. I don’t know what its name is, but I guess I might recognise it on Spotify one day.

Considering the ‘rona is getting worse outside our very windows as we speak (type?), I think it’s correct to be concerned about your future right now.

Looking at these narrow streets reminds me of going to eat hotpot at the end of my Japan trip…only Japanese streets look like that, I think. Hong Kong’s streets are more crowded than that and America likes their suburbia.

Of course, when you say hajimemashite (nice to meet you), someone’s gotta say it back, hence the reply.

Considering there are people all over the world watching the Idolish7 anime, I would say you are telling the world about I7, Riku.

Nagi’s stupid accent is generally what he’s best remembered for (for me), so seeing him speak normally, and do a press conference on top of that, is…impressive.

I think the “it’s overflowing!” is referring to the hype in the “room”.

I feel like “he has a dark side” describes both Tenn and Kujo-san.

I feel like Tenn is basically Ramuda, give or take actual pink hair…guys in musical groups with pre-existing angst that they become the “centre” of. The fact Fling Posse have Saito Soma and so do Trigger strengthens the connection.

I would watch the heck out of a musical like that! Make it come true, Idolish7! (Also, today is I7 day! I’m not much of an I7 fan outside the anime, but…that’s cool!)

[About the project as a whole]

◆About group anniversaries

Up until now, group anniversaries have been as follows: TRIGGER on September 18th, Re:vale on April 15th, and ŹOOĻ on August 31st.

July 7th is the anniversary day of the IDOLiSH7 project as a whole, so we thought we should set a proper anniversary day for the group IDOLiSH7.

After all, June 10th was the day that we introduced everyone to IDOLiSH7 for the first time [1], so from this year, IDOLiSH7’s anniversary will be on June 10th!

This year will be the first time to celebrate IDOLiSH7’s anniversary, so we would like you to celebrate as much as you want with a lot of excitement! We would be happy if you could remember that June 10th is IDOLiSH7’s anniversary.

15. What WIP are you taking into next year with you?

In terms of ao3 WIP status, that would have to be A Study in Myriads! I'd wanted to upload all my kaishin fics that I'd amassed over the years on here into a neatly organized collection, I'd even counted all of them so I could have an accurate chapter number to keep track, but alas. One goal for 2024 will be actually migrating all those vignettes to ao3 so I won't lose them all if tumblr burns down.

In terms of real WIPs, I have a gakuryuu body-swap au, a coda fic for that first year of Trigger's formation before the i7 story actually starts, and a Hidden Region gakuryuu au to work on in the future.

20. Which work of yours have you reread the most?

Might be a recency effect but I think it's I want us to change each other's lives! Specifically the second chapter, the Houseki no kuni/Steven Universe/Pacific Rim fusion au. I just rewatched Pacific Rim with my family and I got hit with a need to read. It's such a specific combination of works that I'm not sure anyone else would either want to read it or have all the background knowledge necessary to piece together what I want the imagery to be, so it's also the most self-indulgent piece I've written too. But it does scratch a very specific itch for me, with the different combinations of 3p Trigger in battle and the perfect coincidence in them actually having a song called Diamond Fusion and the uniforms could be like military uniforms and the hangar spaces and everything, I just thought it was such great inspiration.

28. Favorite work you wrote this year?

Oof that's a hard question, I wrote a lot of gakuryuu and I love them in all variations and combinations! But I'll pick Their Own Legacy because I really like the space in canon-compliance that it occupies and it made me realize that Trigger really is the musical group of the series, and what the implications of that are. My one regret is that I wrote it for the i7 bang before BTP came out and I put Tenn as the one composing the music when it turns out Gaku is the one taking on that mantle, so now I feel the need to write a fic with Gaku composing to make up for that mistake.
