"Hey Xiao?"
"You cal—!?"
Before Xiao could even finish his answer, his lips were met with the tenderness of another. And while his initial reaction from any form of close contact is to immediately recoil, the Conqueror of Demons chose not to do so from Lumine's embrace.
When their lips finally parted, he let out a gasp of disbelief from what had just occurred, and his cheeks reddened from embarrassment.
"Lumine!" he cried. "Y-You should know better by now than to allow yourself to get so close to me! L-Let alone for you to do what you just... did!"
Xiao tried to compose himself shortly after, though it was a bit of a struggle due to the way she stared him down while he did so. Once he got back to his bearings, he cleared his throat and spoke again.
"...I just don't want my karma to affect you as a consequence from this is all."

In the place where clouds mingle with earth, the air does not smell of slaughter. Yet whispers warn him, this peace will end with your departure.
You’d convinced Xiao to watch the sunrise at Mt. Aocang, bribing him with a jar of osmanthus wine so ancient its label had fossilized into the glaze—another relic that the Geo Archon had gifted you. He recalled watching, silently in the shadows, as Morax placed it in your hands with a knowing smile. “For when patience outweighs pride,” he’d said, as if foreseeing this exact moment.
Xiao had scoffed at the offer, of course, but followed—always followed, if only to ensure the cloying optimism of mortals didn’t get you killed.
For once, he was still.
No trembling from karmic aftershocks. No spear materializing mid-blink to gut phantoms. Just Xiao, cross-legged on the dew-slick grass, dawn’s first light pooling in the hollow of his throat. The sunrise bled across his face—gilding his lashes, softening the permanent furrow between his brows. You’d never seen him like this, almost human.
He looked… young. Not a bloodstained Yaksha, but a boy who might’ve once chased finches through bamboo groves.
“You’re staring,” he murmured, voice low but stripped of its usual sharpness.
“You’re not scowling,” you countered, grinning as you gestured to the empty air where his polearm typically hovered. “Should I alert the Adepti? The Conqueror of Demons, relaxing?”
He didn’t grace that with a reply, but the corner of his mouth twitched. His lungs filling with air that smelled of freedom, or was it forgiveness? His gloves creaked as he flexed his hands, not in anger, but calculation, fingers splaying like an architect measuring the weight of the world. You recognized that gesture. Cloud Retainer had once sketched Celestia’s shadow the same way, her talons precise as she muttered about ‘structural integrity’ and ‘the hubris of verticality.’
“Xiao?”
“I could build a realm with skies like this.”
You laughed, the sound too bright for the sacred hush of daybreak. “What, to hoard sunrises? You’d need a thousand jars. Maybe two.”
His gaze stayed fixed on the distant peaks on the horizon. “No jars. Just… borders. A sky that doesn’t fade.”
Something in his tone snagged your ribs. His pupils had swallowed the dawn, black as the spaces between stars.
“A realm,” you echoed, teasing half-heartedly. “Would you trap the sun itself, too?”
He turned. The morning painted his face in contradictions. Gilded one cheek, shadowed the other, as if day and night still warred over his skin. When he reached for you, it wasn’t to pull you closer or push you away, but to skim his thumb along the pulse below your ear. You were not a hallucination.
“Not the sun,” he said.
The wind stirred the leaves atop Cloud Retainer’s mountain, her absence hung palpable as a missing tooth. She’d have scolded him for such whimsy, “Foolish bird— Ahem, Conqueror of Demons, domains require foundations, not daydreams!”—but the mountain offered no chastisement today. Only silence. And in that silence, the chill returned, seeping through your robes like groundwater. Or perhaps it was the ice in your veins as you finally understood.
He hadn’t been talking about the sky.

❝𝕰𝖓𝖈𝖆𝖘𝖊𝖉 𝖎𝖓 𝕴𝖈𝖊❞ | 𝖃𝖎𝖆𝖔 𝖝 𝖄𝖆𝖐𝖘𝖍𝖆! 𝕽𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖊𝖗
Synopsis: Who would have thought that the Cryo Yaksha inferior to the Conqueror of Demons, who was thought to be dead all those years ago would suddenly be found alive encased in ice on the mountains of Dragonspine.
Pairing: Xiao x Yaksha! Reader (could be platonic)
Genre: Angst to fluff (?), hurt/comfort
Note: Just wanted to provide some general information about the reader in this fic ;)
The reader's given name is still Y/n but their Adeptus name is Glacious (Chinese: 冰川 Bīngchuān). Their constellation is Lepus Glacialis. Gender neutral as always unless specified.

Never would have thought that Xiao, the Conqueror of Demons and the Last Guardian Yaksha of Liyue is currently venturing out into the snow-capped mountain of Dragonspine in Mondstadt. You think he would be slaying or exorcising demons, defending Liyue, but no. Apparently, he seems to have some free time and decided to go there.
As his gaze is casted upon the vast land of eternal winter, Xiao decided to do a habit that is not bad but not good either, and that is eating snow. Xiao had just picked up a handful of snow and ate some of it before having to leave his activities because he sensed someone was coming.
He quickly perched on higher grounds and not long after, a group of adventurers likely from the Adventurers' Guild branch in Mondstadt rushed down the snowy mountain. He didn't think much of it since he's unfamiliar with many human customs, finding them strange, childish, or pointless.
Xiao left the mountain just seconds after making sure the group is completely out of his sight.
A few days later, Xiao can be found leaning against the railing of the upper balcony of Wangshu Inn, just self-isolating after having another karmic debt corruption episode. As he was trying to catch his breath, the wind brought a message coming from the ground floor of the inn.
"What's with the sudden call from the Adventurers' Guild in Mondstadt? And why, out of all the people in the guild, WE were chosen to go there?"
"Minsheng! We should feel proud to be chosen as the representatives of the Adventurers' Guild branch in Liyue. And you have to be confident, we were chosen because we are believed to be the best out of all the members there."
"I have to agree with Linyang there, Minsheng."
"Oh come on, Yingzhu. Not you too... I was supposed to play a few rounds of mahjong with Brother Qian later."
Three adventurers by the name of Minsheng, Linyang, and Yingzhu were discussing their sudden summoning to Mondstadt. Even though Xiao is not interested in these kinds of things, he kept listening in.
"So what's the reason we were called there? I have to make sure that this won't be a waste of my time," Minsheng asked.
"Here we go again..." Yingzhu mumbled.
"According to Katheryne, they found something on Dragonspine that required observation from the Adventurers' Guild branch in Liyue, to confirm that it belonged to Liyue. The thing they found wasn't mentioned in the report, so I don't know much about it if you wanted to ask," Linyang explained.
"Huh? How come the thing that came from Liyue is suddenly in Dragonspine? Like this thing we're talking about has legs or something to be able to move."
Xiao was thinking the exact same thing Minsheng just said. But one thing that made him curious was, what were they referring to? If it's an inanimate object, it couldn't possibly move on its own, but who would move it there? And why?
If it's a living object, what would it be? He simply couldn't think of anything. Unless, if it's a person, he may have a few people in mind. Then again, Xiao would be questioning what was the reason the person he knew went to Dragonspine. It would be an endless loop of questions.
Already intrigued, Xiao decided to be more vigilant for the next few days.
Ah, there it is. The clue that Xiao had been waiting for these past few days. A group of knights from the Knights of Favonius along with a few adventurers escorting a wagon stopping by Wangshu Inn for a break. Of course, the sight drew attention towards the group. The wagon carried something similar to a statue covered by a large piece of fabric. As much as Xiao wanted to just lift up the fabric and see the thing for himself, he probably shouldn't.
Xiao continued to listen in to the conversation coming from the ground floor through the wind.
"Ugh, Liyuean food! Cleanse me out of my misery!" Minsheng said dramatically.
"You're overreacting, Minsheng. Quit it!" Linyang scolded.
"My my, what a lively trio you guys are."
An unfamiliar voice managed to reach Xiao's ears with the help of the wind. He has memorized Minsheng, Linyang, and Yingzhu's voice (even though she doesn't talk much) but this, whose voice is this?
"This is normal, Ms. Esther. They bicker a lot, but it's not something serious," Yingzhu started talking.
"Oh, I see."
Esther, was the name of the owner of this unfamiliar voice. Okay, got it.
"Ms. Esther, can you explain the chronological order of events leading to the discovery?" Linyang asked.
"Certainly. Well, I've previously commissioned someone to place and retrieve some survey beacons so that I could research into the conditions on Dragonspine, like the climate, the environment, and so on. But until recently, I unexpectedly needed some further information for my research. So Johann over here accepted my commission. You can take it from here."
Johann? Who else is he? When Xiao noticed the front porch was quiet, his curiosity told him to go there to get a better look at his face. So without further thought, Xiao teleported to the porch below him, right beside Verr Goldet who was feeding Wei and Richie.
"Whoa there, easy you guys. Goodness, Xiao, hello. What are you up to?" she asked.
But Xiao little heeded any of her words, his attention was fixed on Johann's face. Even though he only saw him briefly, Xiao was certain that Johann was one of the adventurers he saw that day in Dragonspine.
"Yes, of course. As Ms. Esther said, I'm the adventurer who accepted the commission and brought my friends along with me to the mountain. Initially, we put the survey beacons in the places we have specified. Everything was normal until after we placed the last survey beacon and decided to head to the bottom of Starglow Cavern. At first, we didn't find anything strange and looks out of place, until one of my friends pointed out this large rock pile. Surprisingly it was very fragile, but that's when we found 'the thing'. Instead of feeling fear, we pitied the thing. I feel like they wanted to be found after all these years somehow," Johann explained.
"Hmm, this could be completely unrelated to the thing we're discussing but a man by the name of Olaf is a Springvale villager was once found in the same condition. He has been frozen for the past 300 years and he's the distant ancestor of Draff, the current head hunter for the village, and is pretty much alive and well. So it's most likely that they're still alive even though they're encased in ice who knows how long," Esther added.
"That can be taken into consideration," Linyang responded.
First "the thing", then they, what's with the change of way of calling it? Does that mean that that thing is a person? Due to unknown reasons, Xiao suddenly teleported away from Wangshu Inn.
"Xiao sure has been a lot more jumpy as of late. Is he alright?" Huai'an asked, coming over to Verr Goldet.
"I... think so, hopefully. Just now, it seemed that he was in a good mood. Not necessarily when he left just like that. Just let him be."
"Who's there? Oh... Yanfei and Ganyu. What are you two doing here?"
It's been around six days later and Xiao hasn't heard any news regarding "the thing" or person found on Dragonspine. So to get his mind off it, he decided to rest on the roof of the inn. But he was caught off guard by the two half-adeptus.
"Conqueror of Dem--... my bad, habit. Ahem, Xiao, we want to invite you to go to Jueyun Karst. There's something you need to see," Yanfei said.
"Jueyun Karst? Hmph, you know very well that I don't do any kind of recreation. Not interested," Xiao coldly replied.
"Conqueror of Demons, I implore you to go with us, we need you. Ningguang has ordered me to take you and Yanfei there," Ganyu spoke up.
"Ningguang? What does the Tianquan want from me?" he asked.
"Your testimony."
Xiao thought long and hard about Yanfei's words. His testimony, his testimony on what exactly? Xiao has witnessed many things in his life so he can't be sure to testify about what. Hoping this had something to do with yesterday's Dragonspine matter, he agreed.
"Fine... As you wish. Hold on, I'll take us there."
Appearing behind a smoke of black and teal, they arrived at Jueyun Karst. Ningguang, Esther, Johann, and the other Adepti such as Cloud Retainer and Moon Carver were already there, waiting for them. However, Mountain Shaper wasn't there as it's reluctant to leave Mt. Hulao.
"You've finally arrived, Conqueror of Demons," Moon Carver greeted.
"Ganyu and the young xiezhi as well, one's delighted to see the of both of you," Cloud Retainer said.
"Since everyone is already here, let's get the assembly started. Once again, I thank you for taking the time to be able to gather here at the realm of the Adepti. If I ever to held this meeting in the city, it trouble the Adepti and would definitely attract a lot of attention when I showed this discovery," Ningguang started.
"Hm, true. But when you speak of this discovery, what do you mean by that?" Moon Carver responded.
"These two, a researcher and an adventurer from Mondstadt can explain more about their discovery to you."
And their explanation was the same one he heard at the inn almost a week ago. So for him to listen to it again was useless and a waste of time. But since the others had never heard of it, he refrained from speaking his mind. He waited and waited until it was the right time to go straight to the point.
"Enough with the introduction, we're wasting time. Get to the point."
"Oh, o-of course, Conqueror of Demons. We just wanted to make sure you guys recognize this person, otherwise we would hit a brick wall if we were unable to identify the person. Ms. Esther, help me to remove the covering," Johann said.
Esther went to one side of the thing and Johann went to the opposite side, both of their hands holding the covering. On the count of three, two, one, the thing that Xiao was curious about was shown to him. He thought he knew what he was going to see, but he didn't, it turned out to be something beyond his imagination.
"Huh, who would have thought it would be Lieutenant General Lepus themself? How unexpected of them to be found on the mountain of Dragonspine after all these years."
Moon Carver's words has represented the reactions of most of the Adepti there, except for Yanfei who didn't seem to recognize the Adeptus in front of her.
"Why, my little tùzǐ. Where have you gone to?" Cloud Retainer said.
"Glacious..."
"Y/n..."
"Wait, how come I'm the only one who doesn't recognize them? I mean, I understand that I was born long after the war took place, but how come there is no historical record regarding Glacious anywhere?" Yanfei said.
"Yanfei, Y/n was one of the Yakshas who fought during the war. Even though they ranked below the five foremost Yakshas, their strength was almost on par with them. Regarding their historical records, I don't know much about that," Ganyu explained.
"Oh... But something that I can confirm and know is that over time their duty tainted them with karmic debts which slowly erode their souls and sanity. Huh, I wonder how Glacious must have felt during their final moments..." Yanfei said.
"Wait, this may sound crazy but I'm sure Glacious is still alive. A hunter by the name of Olaf has been found frozen for 300 years in an underground ruin because of a Cryo Regisvine, he was saved and is in fact healthy even after that incid--"
Esther tried to lighten up the mood by saying your high chance of survival, but was quickly dismissed by Xiao.
"That's absurd! Most Yakshas will eventually succumb to their karmic debts, except those who are strong enough to endure an endless amount of suffering. For I am the sole survivor of all the Yakshas who have fought in the war, I know the reality and consequences of carrying out their duties. You mortals have no right to say that Glacious is still alive even after being encased in ice for who knows how long, keep those fantasies to yourself!"
"That's enough, Conqueror of Demons!" Moon Carver exclaimed.
Everyone fell silent, and you could feel the tension between the two Adeptus. Yanfei and Ganyu were not surprised by the Yaksha's sudden outburst, they knew what Xiao had said was true.
The tension subsided as Johann expressed his relief, "Oh thank Barbatos this matter has been solved. It feels like the weight on my shoulder has been lifted, we chose the right decision to propose it to the Tianquan Ningguang and involve the Adepti. I give you my greatest gratitude."
"Don't mention it, adventurer. One too feels grateful for you bringing my little tùzǐ home," Cloud Retainer responded.
It seems that the Cloud Retainer has expressed her liking towards the adventurer, as she interacted more him. Yanfei then asked how to get you out of the ice, "Have you guys found a way to get Glacious out of the ice?"
"Before we went to Liyue, we had actually tried various ways to melt the ice but it wasn't that easy. We asked an adventurer who has a Pyro Vision to melt the ice but he ended up hurting himself. We also asked the Outrider of the Knights of Favonius but that too failed. And... with all due to respect towards the Adepti, but we also asked the Spark Knight to explode the ice..." Esther explained.
"What absolute blasphemy!" Cloud Retainer commented and was about to "squash" the two Mondstadters until Ganyu reminded her of her contract with Rex Lapis.
When hopes of getting you out of the ice was almost lost, Johann pulled something out of the backpack he was carrying.
"Oh, I just remembered! I collected a chunk of Scarlet Quartz the other day by myself and from what I know it can destroy Rimed Ice. I believe the ice confining Glacious is similar to it," he said.
"Ugh, look at him go! He even beat me to think of that method! I am really proud of you Johann! I might even appoint you as my assistant. Might as well they put you into the Intelligence Department," Esther said.
The laughter and giggle coming from the two Mondstadters managed to put a smile on Ganyu, Yanfei, even Ningguang's face. They finally found a way to free you.
Johann handed the Scarlet Quartz to Xiao and Yanfei, and with the fusion of their powers the ice that had imprisoned you melted. Xiao was the one who caught your wet, cold and limp body, holding you close so he could restore warmth to your body. Ganyu took the fabric that was previously used to cover the now melted ice and gave it to Xiao so he could cover you with it.
"You are safe now, no one will hurt you. I promise."
For the next few days, you were treated at Cloud Retainer's abode with Xiao visiting you almost every day. He would be there by your side holding your hand most of the time, helping Cloud Retainer a little bit here and there.
On the 28th day, four weeks into your coma, Xiao came to Cloud Retainer's abode as usual.
"Welcome once again, Conqueror of Demons. As much as one is delighted by your presence, one can assure you that one is more than capable of taking care of my little tùzǐ," she greeted him.
"I came here of my own free will, and I think Glacious will feel the safest with me when they wake up."
"Very well then, one has something to take care of and one entrust you to care for my little tùzǐ while one is away," Cloud Retainer said before leaving her abode.
Xiao watched as the white crane Adeptus leaves her abode, putting his attention now on you. He watched your chest rise and fall and your soft snores soothed him as he holds your hand, gently squeezing and rubbing his thumb from time to time.
You came from a similar background, Xiao was enslaved by an evil god while you were kidnapped by another evil god and had your freedom taken away. You two were freed by Rex Lapis and bestowed a name by him, could it be that you two were meant to be together?
Xiao suddenly felt movement from you and backed away hesitantly, scared of hurting you one way or another. He called you, but there was no answer. He tried calling you again, but still no answer. Until he approached and tried to call you a third time.
"Y/n...?"
"...shīxiōng..."
Finally after so long, he can hear your voice again. Not long after, your eyelids slowly opened and showed your beautiful (eye color) orbs.
"Xiao-shīxiōng..."
Xiao can't help but miss you as he immediately hugs you tightly. He didn't care if it wasn't his personality, the important thing was that his question was now answered. What thing are those adventurers referring to and where did you go on that fateful night.
After the cataclysm and the deaths of the other Yakshas, only Xiao and you were left, and it's obvious you're the next victim. As black and light blue smoke surrounded your body, Xiao held your hand tightly at that time. You were going through another karmic debts episode, and it was much worse than the previous ones. Tears were spilling out of your eyes and the sad thing was, Xiao couldn't do much to help you but be there for you and help you get through it.
"Shīxiōng... I... I can't do it anymore..."
"You can do it Y/n, you can! Did you see what happened to Indarias, Menogias, Bonanus and Bosacius? Do you want to end up like them?"
"No..."
"Then listen and do as I say. You will get through this."
After an episode that struck in broad daylight and ended in the evening, you were exhausted and Xiao took you back to Mt. Aocang.
"Go and get some rest, I'll be back tomorrow morning."
But what Xiao didn't expect the next morning was that you had disappeared without a trace.
After a few days of recovery, you and Xiao went to Liyue Harbor to gather with the other Adepti there. Ningguang had ordered the Millelith not to let anyone carelessly enter the Yujing Terrace as that was their gathering place. Ganyu, Yanfei, and Madame Ping were already there, along with a special guest.
"Oh my, if it isn't Lieutenant General Lepus themself! It's great to see you in good health."
"Madame Ping? You really look very different from the last time I saw you."
Ganyu approached you with a beautifully wrapped gift in her hand. "Please accept this gift, Y/n. This is a gift from the Tianquan, and she hopes that you will keep the gift and continues to use it," she said.
"May I open the gift right here right now?"
"If you wished to do so," Ganyu smiled at you.
Out of curiosity, you started removing the ribbon that adorned the gift, leaving you with the beautifully carved wooden box. When you opened the lid, you were greeted with a note written by Ningguang herself.
It read:
——————————————————————
Dear Y/n,
I'm glad to hear that your condition has improved. I've been looking forward to the latest news about you through Ganyu since you were brought to Cloud Retainer's abode. You may not know me but I was there on the day of your liberation. Please accept this hanfu as a token of my joy for your ever improving health. Also, when was the last time you received a new piece of clothing like this? If you ever had the time, please visit me at my Jade Chamber (it would be a plus if you wore the hanfu I gave you), and talk because I want to get to know you better.
Best regards,
Ningguang
——————————————————————
You smiled after you finished reading the letter, but your expression quickly changed when Yanfei suddenly appeared in front of you.
"Oh sorry, did I startle you? Y/n, we held this meeting to thank you for your services in protecting Liyue and thank you for your recovery. We wouldn't have gotten to this point without the sacrifices you made Please do not hold back on trying the food we prepared, I guarantee it's all delicious."
You smiled again and continued the party happily. Meanwhile, Madame Ping and a certain now consultant watched the party from a distance not too far.
"Did you see that, my lord? The once timid little rabbit you saved has become a courageous young Adeptus with great potential. Oh, how happy I am to be able to witness their growth."
"Of course, Madame Ping. I am too, happy for their growth. They have a long journey ahead of them, and it should not be rushed. With their return, now the young Adeptus of Guili Plains doesn't have to feel so lonely anymore."
[Author's Note]: It's almost 2 a.m. where I lived and I haven't slept a wink so I'mma go to sleep now, good night to me ZzzZzz...
Also, I forgot to tell you that we hit 40 followers! Eyyyyyy, thank you so much! I really don't know what to do about this mini milestone though :v

Yandere! Xiao
― 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗥 𝗢𝗙 𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗦
▸ "if you awake to a knife at your throat, if monsters dig their claws into you, if death comes knocking at your door, call out my name."
▸ xiao whipped his head as fast as he could when he heard a voice.
▸ the yaksha couldn't believe that he didn't sense the person until they whispered these words.
▸ "adeptus xiao. I will be here when you call."
▸ your figure appeared beside him
▸ "these are the words you said to my dear twin, aren't they?" you chuckled lightly soaking in the shocked expression on his face.
▸ "twin?" xiao mumbled lightly as his teal eyes widened.
▸ he blatantly stared at your figure.
▸ sure enough, he could see the similarities between you and the traveller.
▸ the same blonde hair and amber eyes, yet so different.
▸ "like what you see?"
▸ xiao soon noticed he was getting sidetracked when he heard you call him out.
▸ and he realised the difference between your personality and the traveller's personality.
▸ you grinned when he was staring at you and didn't hesitate to tease you, while the traveller would blush in embarrassment.
▸ "am i too good looking that even the great yaksha can't help but stare at me?"
▸ xiao finally snapped.
▸ "who are you?" he warily stared at your figure which was a couple of metres away.
▸ standing at the top of wangshuu inn late at night, he realised that you were too ethereal.
▸ taking advantage of the fact that xiao was distracted you closed in the distance between you.
▸ "it's not nice to ignore someone you know~" you whined lightly as a smile grew on your face when you noticed a red hue on his face.
▸ but you continued to pretend as if he wasn't blushing and leaned your face closer
▸ "besides," xiao gulped heavily when he noticed how close you were to each other to the point he could even feel your body temperature
▸ "what's wrong with me trying to assess someone who promised to protect my sibling~?" You continued
▸ "don't get too close!" xiao suddenly stepped back angrily only for you to come close to him again
▸ you grasped his chin with your hand forcing him to look at you, your abyss power stopping him from making any movement
▸ he stuttered at your close proximity, "d-don't"
▸ "don't what darling? I'm not doing anything aha~" you smirked when you noticed him go stiff
▸ ah, you definitely were enjoying this
▸ when the abyss who were tasked with keeping an eye on your sibling told you that the only living yaksha made such promising words to your sibling you grew curious
▸ "hmm..." you continued on staring at the yaksha in front of you who was trembling in nervousness
▸ sweat forming on his forehead, teal eyes glancing at you and his body pulled flush against you
▸ you slowly released the abyss power holding him back, he probably realised that too
▸ xiao was strong enough to know that you've stopped your hold over him apart from the fact that you were lightly gripping his chin
▸ yet he made no moves to get away from your grasp
▸ "not going to move? you like being in my embrace so much?" you gave him a teasing smile
▸ too mesmerized by your presence he simply gaped at you
▸ "yes"
▸ you were rather taken back although you did not show it
▸ "interesting," you muttered
▸ you pulled away from leaving xiao disappointed
▸ "then, my little puppy,"
▸ the male perked up with the use of the nickname
▸ " why don't you become mine?"
▸ and that's how you had the great yaksha as your pet
▸ xiao might be called the 'conqueror of demons' yet he let a devil like you conquer him
▸ sitting on your throne you listened to the cryo abyss mage giving you their daily reports when a hydro one burst through the door
▸ your eyes narrowed into a glare and your tone icier than the ice of the cryo archon
▸ "you dare barge in?"
▸ " your highness i apologise for the discourtesy however the yaksha has gone insane!"
▸ you got up from your throne and made way to the place where the abyss mage was leading you
▸ both the abyss mage and you disappeared in the teleporting circle leaving the throne room empty
▸ now you understood why the abyss made had called xiao insane
▸ this was the place where you and xiao had gone to for investigation, you were wearing a wig to hide your hair and different clothes
▸ yet this could not dilute your beauty and humans coveted beauty
▸ the whole place was filled with corpses of people who showed interest in you
▸ and xiao had killed them all
▸ although his face was covered by a mask, his entire body was giving off sinister energy called 'karma'
▸ "xiao"
▸ the man burning in rage soon dropped his polearm on the ground, the sinister energy disappearing and the mask gone
▸ "master [name]" he uttered and soon came closer to you
▸ you harshly tugged the leash around his neck and kicked him down on his knees and yet he took it all with a pleased look on his face
▸ you took a handful of his black and green hair and forced him to lookup
▸ "what is this mess you've created?"
▸ your face was livid with anger at someone disrupting your plan and even the abyss mage accompanying you dropped down to its knees when it heard your voice
▸ yet it seemed xiao hadn't understood the severity of the situation
▸ "they were looking at you that day, but I listened to you and didn't kill them but your plan is complete without them so i killed them!" he answered
▸ you teleported the both of you to the throne room as you say on your throne
▸ xiao handed you his leash as he sat on the carpeted floor in front of your seat
▸ "so you killed them all because they were looking at me huh?" you titled your head lightly
▸ seeing him nod an evil plan began to conjure in your mind
▸ the abyss had been planning on making a duplicate of the demon conquering yaksha in front of you for a while now
▸ you got up and tugged on his leash as he began to follow you like the loyal puppy he is
▸ opening the door xiao saw someone he recognised
▸ it was his look-alike except he had red highlights and red eyes
▸ his look-alike smirked at him when he noticed xiao's dumbfounded expression
▸ the duplicate knelt before you and left a kiss on your hand
▸ "at your service your highness"
▸ xiao summoned his weapon and attacked his duplicate without hesitation
▸ " master is mine!" xiao yelled out loudly
▸ they both fought and you did nothing to stop them, clearing enjoying the entire fight with a pleased look on your face
▸ "things are getting lively indeed~"

includes chongyun, xiao, bennett, lumine and fischl.
( or you could see this as a romantic shit genshin characters would do if you were dating. a vent??? kinda?? )
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ〔 CHONGYUN ━━ FROZEN ARDOR 〕
━━ buying that one ice lolly with two sticks and ripping them apart to share but it'd fail and you'd end up with one mutated with the top half of the other still stuck to it so you two would rock–paper–scissors for the bigger half.
━━ he would have these 'oh my god, i'm in love' revelations at night and wouldn't be able to sleep so he decides to tell you instead through a "i–know–you're–probably–sleeping–right–now–but" text and say the cheesiest, heartwarming stuff ever and might talk about your future together and how he wants to move in.
━━ catching him dazed, staring at you so you smile at him and look away first, giving him a chance to register how ethereal you are.
━━ walking side by side in a quiet street, knuckles brushing against each other as the sun dawns on your back and you see your shadows infront of you, encased in the colour of the melting sun.
━━ having a shared playlist where you two add songs that you want the other to listen to or reminds you of them.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ〔 XIAO ━━ CONQUEROR OF DEMONS 〕
━━ the classic "who did this to you?" when he finally gets you to stop hiding behind your hair and seeing the black eye you had.
━━ taking a nap on his shoulder in spring under a large tree as he reads where the wind is caressing the two of you and the sun keeps you warm but doesn't blind you.
━━ finishing a mentally taxing class and finally hearing that bell ring, you pack up and go to leave and he's stood outside the classroom door, waiting for you. when he sees you, he lets you lean on his arm as he walks you to your next class, giving you a light forehead kiss before sending you in.
━━ watching him do a normal everyday task and realising that maybe you've found the one.
━━ him sat on a table with you between his legs as you clean up his cuts on his face from getting into a fight. you're scolding him but he's too busy thinking about how much he loves you to care.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ〔 BENNETT ━━ TRAIL BY FIRE 〕
━━ getting a 'meet me at our spot' text after a long day.
━━ doing your own thing whilst singing to a song and then hearing him quietly sing along so you ditch the thing you're doing, looking up to catch his gaze and you two end up dramatically singing songs together.
━━ uneven sleeping schedules so that no matter who, you both have a period where you get admire their soft features, whether it be under the rising sun or the lull of the moon. bennett would go to sleep earlier so you get to admire him under the light of the star stickers on his ceiling and his fairy lights and he would also be the first to wake up so he gets to see you get hit with the single ray of sunset.
━━ getting a knock on the door a few minutes after you've sent him a vent text about your day and it's him, in his pyjamas with a bag of snacks that he found around his house ( some half eaten ) because he didn't want to make you wait for too long whilst you were sad.
━━ him getting excited about things that he knows you like, even if he doesn't understand much of it.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ〔 LUMINE ━━ PRINCESS OF THE ABYSS 〕
━━ matching everything; profile pictures, bios, themes.
━━ sitting at a park, on a picnic or something, and guessing the life of people who walk past, either simply things like names or ages or give them a detailed fairy like past based on their appearance.
━━ holding the other in your sleep; whether it's being in the other's embrace, having your legs tangled together or even just holding hands. just that constant reassurance that she's there for you.
━━ linking arms with her as she leans into your shoulder.
━━ calling you up at odd times in the night to tell you she can't sleep so you'd sneak out to go get chicken nuggets from mcdonalds and then have some form of an adventure at night.
━━ would tell you she's gonna be late to come over but it's cause she went to buy you flowers.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ〔 FISCHL ━━ MEIN FRÄULEIN 〕
━━ would drop everything to listen to you, if you called her whilst she was getting ready to sleep, she would forget that she was sleepy and answer your call immediately.
━━ if you're more introverted, that's fine because fischl is the best at filling in awkward silences. she can ramble about anything and everything on spot; if you feel bad and just want to hear her speak, she could talk about her day for hours and all she needs is a small reaction here and there or a question about something she said to know you really are listening and she'd keep talking.
━━ in addition to that^^, she will also lay on your chest or let you lay on hers whilst rambling if you guys were in private.
━━ arcade dates but she sucks at the crane games and you also also suck at crane games so you spend your entire wallet and time at the arcade, stood infront of the crane game until one of you grabs onto the purple bird plush and you both scream in excitement when it falls down the chute.
━━ avid anime/manga stan, will watch animes with you, read with you and will recommend. if you ask her to watch a new anime with you and she's seen it, she will pretend she hasn't so she gets to spend more time with you anyways.

"You can just call me Xiao, remember?" Xiao remarked to Yanfei. He then extended his arm out to his side as a way to gesture for them to depart.
"This way," he beckoned. The two adepti continued traveling down the gravelly path with the warm Liyue sun behind them. Xiao walked diligently beside Yanfei, making it a point to never stray too far away from her, and his piercing amber eyes analyzed the environment all around them, remaining ever vigilant for any potential points of danger as they traveled along their path.
Whenever they were close to approaching a split in the road, the Conqueror of Demons would quickly point towards the appropriate direction they needed to go, never faltering in his momentum as he did so. Indeed, the Conqueror of Demons knew the winding roads of the mountains with extreme familiarity.
As the two adepti traveled farther upward through a spiraling path on the mountain, Xiao thought back to the statement Yanfei had uttered before they departed. "Back there earlier — you had mentioned you owe me twice for something," Xiao said inquisitively. "I can understand your reasoning for the first time, but I'm afraid I do not know what you refer to for the second."
He continued his step, curious about her answer.
Yanfei watched the adepti curiously, his reaction to her words were fascinating for her. It was a rare sight to speak with the conquerer of demons, she knew from the tales of her father that he wasn't someone who searched the closeness to other beings. Maybe that was the reason why he tried to hide his reactions. Was he... Embarressed?
"It is not a shame to risk your own life for the safety of others--I would say you did honor your contract with morax itself" she said with a soft smile, since she guessed he felt embarressed to tell her.
"Aaaand I appreciate your offer- but I owe you two times-- something" sometimes her lips were faster than her brain. Trying to think of something her eyes shifted towards the sky, before she remembered him asking to get going. "Yes-Yes your lead, conquerer of demons"

Fandom: Genshin Impact
Characters Included: Xiao x reader
Warnings: None
Blurred out by tears, the world was dipped in blue and muddied by obstacles in the way. Branches stretched out their fingers, clawing their ways out and leaving scratches on the skin of your face. You were currently running -- not sure for how long or where you could eventually end up from this, but your legs wouldn’t stop moving. It hurt and you were tired. You were not fit to be running for so long, but desperation kept you on your toes.
Heart pounded against your chest and every limb attached to your body trembled uncontrollably. Then the questions began to pop into your head. Why me? What had I done for this to happen?
The footsteps from behind you grew closer and louder, causing your chest to feel suffocated, for you could not push yourself any harder. Ragged breaths left your lips and beads of sweat hung in every crevice of your body. And that was when a hand snagged you back like a prey getting caught by its predator.
The treasure hoarders caught up. And you didn’t know what they wanted with you.
“You’re making this hard on all of us, woman,” one of the treasure hoarders had said. His beady eyes landed on you and a sneer painted his lips. He was a burly man, tall and most definitely stronger than you. “Behave and you’ll find yourself a better outcome.”
You didn’t listen to him. The guy behind you was a scrawnier man, so perhaps you could luck out on it. Struggling against his hold, a searing cold suddenly made way around your wrists. You turned your head over your shoulder to find ice formed to create shackles.
Fuck. This guy had a cryo vision.
No. Widening your eyes and stepping back, you tumbled to the ground, frozen in shock. They all cackled at your clumsiness, staring at you downwardly, as if you were below them.
Whimpers crept from your throat. “Xiao! If you can hear me... Please...”
A light burst and the world burned in green. The wind howled and standing before that was the Adeptus. Dark green locks furled and amber hues glowed ominously, aimed at the poor victims -- which in this case, were the treasure hoarders. Once so confidant, they were now seemingly less confidant, but tried to put on their brave faces anyway.
I knew it. So you truly do come at her beck and call, Xiao,” the same treasure hoarder spat out. “Your weakness is so obvious by now. You’ve grown weak.”
“If I’m weak, I wonder what you are?” the Conqueror of Demons retorted coolly. “Bugs to squash beneath my feet?”
He whipped out his polearm and when the bandits hurried toward him, he easily slashed them. Dodging elegantly and summoning his power, he destroyed them all, anemo wind unwinding before you. It was violent, but he did it beautifully, keeping your attention on him at all times. At moments of these, you were forced to see the difference in his strength and in yours.
When he was done, strolling away from the bandits like a stroll out of a park, he went over to you. You were shaking madly, the fear of this day’s events striking to remind that you weren’t safe. You couldn’t defend yourself; instead, Xiao had to do it.
Droplets of tears rolled down your cheeks once more and your head drooped. “[Y/N]...” Xiao’s voice was gentle for once.
His arms hesitantly wrapped around yours in an awkward embrace. Not arguing against it, you leaned your head into his shoulder and smothered your face into his chest. Smelling like a mixture of ash and almond tofu, it was indeed him. He was warm, covering you from the cold wind blowing through the woods. Only him. The thought of danger faded into the background and your heartbeat returned to become a soothing lullaby.
“You’re okay now,” he breathed out, stroking your [e/c] locks. “You’re safe and I’m here to protect you.”
“I’m sorry,” you whispered.
“Sorry for what?” he responded angrily. “You don’t have to be sorry for anything.”
“I do. I’m a burden to you. They’re using me as leverage to get to you. I can’t even do anything to protect myself.”
“Then let them. Call my name anytime you find yourself in this type of situation. Promise me [Y/N].”
You shook your head. “You have better things to do than showing up at my bidding.”
He let go of you and his eyes narrowed. Dammit. His stubborn ways were getting to him, but the same applied to you. “Everything and anything pertaining to you is never a waste of my time. So promise me this. Promise me so I can sleep well at night.”
“Not like you sleep anyway,” you grumbled. Unfortunately, you were breaking from his determined gaze and his loving words that sent your heart racing. “Fine. I promise. On one condition. I’m paying you back with almond tofu meals.”
He tried not to look so excited, but you could tell. His irises glimmered for a second as he nodded in agreement. “Deal.”

@shortnessangel asked:
I don’t ever really ask for much honestly. I just kind of wanna make other people happy. Seeing others smile makes me smile as corny as that may sound. Spreading love is all that matters to me. Oh and bring cute too. What a coincidence. I guess today is your lucky day after all huh? That’s definitely a rare occurrence. I would okay with making us some tea if you wanted to just sit down and chat. Unless you’re busy t-though. I completely understand if that’s the case.
Xiao found himself moved by (tiny) Angel's words. In a world that can be filled with such misery and uncertainty, it was comforting knowing that there are those with hearts of gold such as the one that stood before him. He smiled and looked at the non-existent watch on his wrist.
"I can spare a few moments, little one. I would very much like that!
If it is your simple wish to merely chat with me then who am I to deny? Such kindness should be acknowledged. You must have come a long way to have found me, tell me about yourself."

Lover’s Gaze (At the World’s End)
xiao x reader fanfiction
tags: reader insert, canon-like behaviour, reader is not traveler, isekai genre, romance, angst, fluff, reader is ENTP/ENFP
read note at the end of this post!
Every beginning has an end, and every end has a new beginning. Your life ended. But breathed anew in a place you never thought would exist. Here, you are in the body of a Liyuen maiden working for an established inn that is home to a certain adeptus, Conqueror of Demons. You are a fire in the middle of a snowstorm and he is ice in the heat of the day. You are bound not to last together. How long would your unspoken love for him continue to blaze?
(The rest of the chapters will be posted on ao3!)
———
Chapter One
You are the usual happy-go-lucky kind of person. No matter what life throws at you, it will never get to you for long. You would be sad, but you would always stand up and move on. You are quick on your feet, and would rather spend the rest of your days in happiness than worry about things you can never control. But even with many distractions and fixations you get yourself into, you would always feel like something is missing. You thought maybe you just needed a partner and it would solve the unknown longingness inside you.
That was never the case.
Finally, you let out your last breath. Your life ended. Maybe you had several regrets in this lifetime. But it’s all in the past. Is heaven real? Am I going to a terrible place? What lies after this? You finally lost your senses, your consciousness, and fell into nothing but the void. You are free from the sufferings of life. You can never feel again.
Maybe this is heaven after all. You like it better this way than to feel anything at all. But you heard noises ringing in your ears. Birds chirping, children laughing, people chatting lively. You began to feel grass on your back, and the cool breeze against your skin. This feels nice.
Maybe this is heaven after all. You felt at peace, like there’s nothing to worry. “(new name)!” a childlike voice called out to you. It’s running towards you, you could feel. Was it calling you? But that wasn’t your name. Maybe it is a different person. “(new name)! Wake up now!” the child sat beside you on the grass. You slowly opened your eyes and saw the first being you see in this life. “Uncle Yanxiao is calling for you!” he said. Uncle Yanxiao? Who’s that? You sat up and eyed your surroundings. “(new name), are you alright?” the child held your hand as you observed the look of concern on his face. “I am…” you say, unsure of what just happened to you. Apparently you have been reborn into a place unalike from your previous modern world. But this isn’t so different as you would think. You got up and followed the child to an inn in the middle of vast land. As you step closer to the building, you feel as if this is where you truly belong. How come? You clearly have never been here before. Even your clothes are different from what you usually wear. But they fit so comfortably. Maybe this is how you should dress from now on. Not that there are modern shops you could buy from. You think you probably do not own money, too. You set your foot inside the building and went by the stairs down to a semi basement kitchen. You see varieties of spices and ingredients you hardly ever touched in your previous lifetime.
Maybe this is heaven after all. You smell the scent of delicious food totally unique to this world. You weren’t hungry, but the smell of good food made your stomach growl. “There you are. I’ve been looking for you!” the tall muscular man crossed his arms with a look of disappointment. You thought it would make no sense if you were to ask what world you suddenly have come to. “I apologize... I… forgot about the time.” you came up with an excuse. He heaved a deep sigh. He handed you a small plate of jelly-like tofu sprinkled with powdered almond crumbs. So delicate looking. It looks beautiful. The shape is even neatly cut and the thick jelly texture nicely coats the shape of the tofu. “Verr Goldet is not here. You bring it to him today.” he said and went back to stirring a hot pot. “Him?” you ask. Yanxiao looked back at you, “Yes, him. Don’t play dumb. I’m equally as terrified. But one of us should make the sacrifice.” you could feel him shiver a little. You remained silent. Is this for a high ranking official? A king? “Okay. I already made this! I did my part! Now go! He usually stands on the highest terrace. Lucky you if you see he isn’t there. Just place it on the small table there and leave.” he instructed. A high ranking official wouldn’t have his study on an open terrace now would he? Then who is this man referring to? How curious. You couldn’t help but feel nervous. This is your first task in this world after all. They should definitely pay you if this turns out bad. You walked up the stairs and slowly entered the terrace. Leaves scattering along the air, the cool breeze ever so peaceful, and the sight is unlike any other. You gasped in awe. You leaned forward near the railing and admired the beauty of the scenery of land. “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” a voice coming from beside you shook you a little. Where did this guy come from? But wait. You began observing the young looking man’s features. You watched his teal toned strands of hair brushing against his delicate looking face, a fierce look on his mystical coloured eyes, a purple diamond shape on his forehead, and his pinkish lips. Wow.
Is this a dream? No. Maybe this is indeed heaven. After all, how could someone so divine appear before your very eyes?
He glanced at you. You notice the distance between you two and decide to walk closer. “Best stop right where you are.” he spoke, you could feel his tone grow stricter. You stopped on your tracks and bowed your head a little. Is this a high ranking official? Or a god? Should you bow lower? “The chef asked me to deliver this to you…” you trailed off. How should you address him? “.. sir.” you continued anyway. He took the plate of your hands and placed them on a small table beside the terrace railing. “You should leave.” you looked up at him, your head still low. You could feel your face heating up at the sight of him. He screams power and is clearly stoic. How come you feel butterflies at such a man? “My karmic debt is lethal to mortals. You should never dare come close ever again.” he said with a hint of order. He turned his back on you, signalling for you to leave.
You don’t know what he means by that. Is it some kind of virus? You’ve lived through a large period of pandemic in your previous lifetime. Maybe social distancing is common here, too? No. You guessed it, maybe it has something to do with godly powers. He called you a mortal after all. Then that makes him a species different from you. You could tell by his aura alone. “Have a wonderful day, sir.” like the positive employee you are, you bowed and left the terrace with a smile on your (blushing) face. It doesn’t matter what you do from now on. If it means serving such divine looking highness in this life, then you’ve hit the best job in the world!
The adeptus was taken aback with the last words you said to him before leaving. He expected you to cower away in fear. But that was totally far from it. Instead you were smiling at him. ‘She… isn’t afraid...’ he began eating up the almond tofu the chef of the inn prepared for him as the thought of the new maiden entered his mind.
Chapter End.

The year had been good to Xiao so far; not only did it begin with lesser demons for him to deal with but he also learned to love and be loved in return, something he had always hoped to experience for himself, and one he never expected to happen to him in his lifetime. He glanced up to see his rambunctious lover in question, Hu Tao, waving to him from the balcony above where he played his song.
The Conqueror of Demons paid no mind to her comment as he could tell she was being her sarcastic self, or so he thought, plus—he didn’t think he played that bad.
“Hmph! And I suppose you could play better?” He said with a smug look worn across his face as he continued to strum his brand new Windsong Lyre™ that he had received as a gift from Venti for this year’s recent Lantern Rite.
Little did Xiao know, however, the ever cheeky green bard had purposely de-tuned the strings of his instrument beforehand.
“You know, the harmonics on this lyre are actually pretty fantasti—Hu Tao! Your ears are bleeding!” He shouted in a tone of great concern as he noticed droplets of red liquid drip off her from the balcony, feeling them splatter onto his exposed arm afterwards.
@debtofaloneyaksha (discord rp to tumblr)
"Wow, you play such lovely tunes, Xiao.~" The director comments out of nowhere. She leans against the railing of the balcony. Her attention was specifically towards the silk flower bushes down below from Wangshuu Inn.
To simple bystanders, it was hard to believe her words. The reasoning why was because a trail of blood trickled down her ears. She was trying to be nice but Xiao needs more practice with the lyre.

a #5 with Xiao please! and thank you! :)
A/N: I was super unsure of how to write this, I’ve never written for Xiao in my life but I think it turned out quite sweet in the end. I hope it meets your expectations! I do love our resident angsty boy quite a bit.
“Did it hurt?” “Are you seriously-” “When you fell down the stairs, I mean” - Xiao x GN! Reader
Xiao’s affections are… blunt, to put it lightly.
He’s neither used to showing or receiving them, nor can he quite get used to that strange fluttering in his stomach each time you flash him a smile, or stray a little too close during commissions, or stand with him in silence on the balcony, enjoying the view. He never knows what to do with his hands or his words in those moments, keeping former tucked close to his sides in case they do something stupid like reach over to you, and latter - well, he’s generally not too fantastic with kinder words, in any situation.
(Though he really does try, for you, but he’d rather suffer for another millenia by the hands of karmic fate before admitting it).
Like now.
When you’ve just taken a not-so-unsubstantial tumble down the stairs of Wangshun Inn’s kitchen, and he startles from his place at the balcony, moving before he knows it. He can’t catch you, for that even he is too late, but he’s by your side the second you hit the floor, foot having caught onto a snag in the wooden planks that sent you flying forwards.
“Oh, shit”, you groan, and it’s not long before you’re sat at that table in the corner, ice held to the forming bruises on your legs and Xiao is perched across from you, trying his hardest to look anywhere but your injuries. You’re already laughing about the incident, talking to one of your travelling companions - Kaeya, was it? How do you have the energy to keep up with so many people? - with lighthearted amusement. He doesn’t like the way he regards you, the teasing compliments that sneak their way all too comfortably into the conversation. He excuses himself with little explanation, having no hope for your appearance at your meeting spot tonight. Not with Kaeya around.
He’s evidently disproven when you’re back on the balcony as always, patiently waiting for him with a plate of tofu, though you’re putting a lot more weight on your left leg than your right. You’re staring off into the distance, humming some song, and Xiao knows he would have come running from any corner in Teyvat at the sound had he not already been perched on the rooftop.
And it’s so obvious that you’re wounded, but the question still falls from his lips before he can hold his tongue, that strange panic from earlier still not evaporated, still not assured that you’re okay, still desperate for you to notice him, because he’s sure you don’t.
“Did it hurt?”
You look up, surprise written across your expression, if at the fact that he's asking or the suddenness of him standing beside you, he can’t tell, but he knows you’ve misunderstood his intentions. That knight rubbed off on you. Your heart skips a beat and there’s disbelief in your forming grin and caution in your tone.
“Are you seriously-?”
“When you fell down the stairs, I mean”. Xiao nearly trips over his tongue to correct himself, at least that’s the way he feels, the heat in his face unlike one he’s ever felt. He’s sure he’s given himself away, sure you’re going to turn and laugh and-
Over on your side, the adeptus looks and sounds as stoic and cool as ever. Well, maybe there is the slightest pink hue tinting his cheeks, but it must be the lighting, right? Right? You couldn’t possibly hope for more, and yet...
“Yes”, you answer truthfully, deciding not to tease him, because he’s seemed awfully quiet since your fall, even more so than usual, and that’s saying something. He simply nods, staring off at the horizon, and your aching heart decides to run with the off-chance that he hadn’t suddenly taken to using blush.
“But don’t worry - falling for you was a lot less painful”.
In the end, you’ll have to forever thank that loose plank for being able to witness Xiao’s awestruck, flustered expression. Not one you get to see often from the Conqueror of Demons, you suppose. But it certainly suits him.

There were many mortal concepts Xiao was somewhat familiar with. Though he wasn’t a fan of most of them, like cooking, he could give himself a bit of credit in how much he’d learned about humans in recent times.
Making “small talk” was not one of those concepts.
The phrase was one he had not even heard of until he visited Zhongli for advice on how to speak to the Yuheng of Liyue, Keqing.
Xiao had explained to Zhongli that he wanted to commend the young Yuheng for her role in defending Liyue from the wife of Osial. Unfortunately, given his lack of familiarity with the young woman, he wasn’t quite sure how to go about it without her finding it strange for him to seek her out.
Zhongli had given him several odd looks as he explained himself and by the end of it, offered an unusual suggestion after lightly ruffling his hair with a laugh.
“If your intention is to offer her a compliment, have you considered making small talk to break the ice?”
“Small talk?” Xiao asked. “What is that?”
“Just a means by which to get the conversation going.” Zhongli explained.
“Then, what should I say for this…small talk?” Xiao asked, crossing his arms.
“Tell her something that she might not expect that will get her attention. Since you mean to compliment her, compliment something else about her first. Such as her eyes. Women enjoy hearing praises about their eyes.”
And so, Xiao decided to test this theory when he happened to see the Yuheng at Wangshu Inn. She had been conversing with Verr Goldet and, as he stood out of sight, he did notice that the Yuheng’s eyes were quite striking. Fierce. And yet alluring all the same. In the bright sun of the midday, it only seemed to make them shine a bit brighter than he remembered on the few occasions he’d been close enough to see them.
The Yuheng and Verr Goldet were turning their separate ways, and Xiao decided to move in as she was preparing to depart, teleporting behind her.
“You.”
The Yuheng turned around quickly, appearing startled.
“…Yes…Conqueror of Demons?” she asked, quickly gaining her composure. “Is something the matter?”
Perhaps he should have approached her in a different manner. In his defense, most people were used to his less-than-standard entrances and exits. He should probably do so sparingly around her.
“You…have eyes…”
The Yuheng stared at him, the eyes in question growing wide for a moment before looking at him quizzically.
“…Yes…I do.” She responded, blinking as if for good measure.
Xiao didn’t particularly anticipate how to respond to her…response. No matter, Zhongli’s advice was sure to be trustworthy.
“Considering that many eyes are often lost in battle, gouged out by their enemies in an act of rage or malice, it is fortunate for you to still have yours.”
Again, her eyes grew wide. Though, this time in a less puzzled way and more like that of passersby if they happened to catch sight of him in front of a fresh corpse.
“…Thank you…Conqueror of Demons…” she said in a quiet voice, “I’ll keep that in mind.”
The Yuheng offered a bow and sped off before Xiao even had a chance to tell her that he had more to say. His hand hung in the air, reaching for her, as she disappeared down the stairs.
Perhaps that wasn’t the proper way to make “small talk”.

Writing sample; (At least a paragraph or two)
;;~ The Waves crashed on the crescent beach. A mighty wave came over the crux, only for the captain of this to find herself washed ashore over to the City of contracts . This must have been the Great Osais doing, the legendary god that Red lapis took down in a cataclysmic battle.
but why would Osasis take upon the raging seas now, after all this this time. sighing softly the female couldn’t exactly rap her head around the fact that Osais would exactly cause this, the god had been asleep for a melaena after all. Though it wasn’t uncommon either.
Beidou planned on just docking the boat and assessing the damage against the docks, it wasn’t like she had a plan at this point. heading down to the steer board she asses one of them for a moment.
“In all of the name of Tyvat, she’s still standing at least.” A heavy sigh left her voice though as her hand leaned against the bridge of her forehead. A voice came into the clearing
Beidou noticed crew mates that was not of her own. And soon after, she heard the sound of clacking boots against the old and worn down risky boards that held the dock together in one piece still.
Walking away from the crowd for a moment as she looked to see if there was anything she could buy in order to fix the small damage the raging innocent caused. Though she heard the commotion behind her as she noticed the minlith comment out as in demands who caused this damage
“She would be mine.” Beidou the well fit Pirate called out as she walked out into the crowd taking a swig from her Flask like Bottle. And looked at the other as the eyepatch covered her other eye. “I don’t know how or why but it looks like I came to crash in for a bit.” Placing her hand to the right side of her hip she paused as the others murmured in whispers.
