Hi, Helluva Boss fandom, lemme explain! I mainly hang around the HPMA (Harry Potter Magic Awakened) tag, and this character is my OC Jordan Budd, whom I play as in the game!

I barely even post in other tags, but let's say House of Asmodeus slapped me across the face today and I knew I wanted to draw an outfit inspired from our beautiful embodiment of lust...

Hello, guys, beginner artist here! I recently started playing HPMA & I loved it so much, especially the art! So I wanted to try making a ref sheet for my character lol!

Evie is energetic, enthusiastic, & friendly. Her curiosity & imaginative nature makes her eager to experience & try out new things & share them with her friends. She is always up for an adventure often dragging her friends along for a fun ride! She tends to get easily distracted (which is probably why she has unfinished projects & either forgets about it or promises to finish it later. p.s. she probably never gets back to it lol ) She's willing to break the rules in order to gain an advantage or to keep her friends safe.

Some extra info on Evie

Her favorite color is blue.

Favorite sweets are Chocolate Frogs & Sugar Quills. Least fav are Bertie Botts.

She's a decent photographer, snapping pics of mostly her friends & nature. She either gives them to Lottie for her art or puts them in her photo album.

Loves creatures very much! Can't choose between unicorns or dragons as her most fav. When in CoMC class, she likes to talk to the creatures affectionately.

She sometimes carries a small bag filled with owl treats for her pet Barn Owl companion, Eglantine.

If she could, she would bring Pancake, her pet corgi bestie, along to Hogwarts with her. She often misses her floofy baby. :')

She has a stuffed dragon named Blaze which she keeps in her dorm. Acts as a sense of comfort to her.

So y’all know the classic edge trope of “my blade cannot be sheathed until it has tasted blood”? What if a magic sword that has that requirement, except it’s sort of inverted. A sword that, instead of being inhabited by an evil spirit which once awakened cannot be lulled back to sleep except by blood sacrifice, was inhabited by a benevolent spirit who would not allow the sword to be drawn unless bloodshed were the only possible solution. A sword whose power could never be misused because it would only allow itself to be used in situations where it was justified. What about a Paladin who spends their entire journey fighting with a sheathed sword, incapacitating but never killing or maiming. The party believes that the Paladin has taken an oath of no killing, until they face the big villain. And it is in that moment, and that moment alone, that the sword will allow itself to be drawn.

Oh my G-d I saw someone on tiktok talk about how too many internet leftists think a revolution is just "Marxist isekai."

But, honestly, kinda true. Too many of y'all seem to think the revolution will just magically transport you into a perfect fantasy world where we'll just be able to dismantle capitalism, racial, gender, ability, religious, and sexual hierarchies, and build a classless society free of oppression. and the millions of fascists and capitalists will just idk either go with it or poof disappear!

Too many of y'all don't realize we're a fringe of a fringe. We - socialists, communists, anarchists, general leftists - are at most 3-5% of the US population, probably less. We would be crushed in a revolution. If not by the state, then by people loyal to capital (or just out right fascists).

Some of y'all seem to think there's this proletarian beast waiting to be awakened that will unite the working class. We can't even get over 10% of US workers to join a damn union! Most of them hate us! They would take up arms against us! Y'all live in a fucking fantasy world!

I don't advocate for a revolution anymore because I know it'll end poorly. Either we're beaten by the most powerful military on Earth or we are usurped by fascist or capitalist forces which are far more popular.

Even More Dead Boy Detectives Fic Recs

I've discovered some amazing new authors since my last post! And writers I've already recced have published more great stories So here's another fic rec post!

Who? You mean your teammate in the Codependency World Cup? (series) by RoseGanymede95

I couldn't chose! They're all great! Basically a series of Edwin and Charles through the years and on cases pre-show. It scratches that adjusting-to-being-dead/newly-escaped-from-Hell itch and the authors writing is magic! It also fleshes out a really interesting conflict in the payneland dynamic: Charles' drive to protect Edwin at all costs clashing with Edwin's guilt over putting Charles at risk/depriving him of some ideal afterlife. Parts one and four also introduces Constantine/Johanna and part three revolves around an absolutely gut-wrenching temporary break-up. 😢

In Hell I'll Be in Good Company by laylabinx

Charles rescuing Edwin from Hell does not go smoothly. Just. Bucketloads of Trauma for both of them. And for you, the Reader. It's so good though!

Vampire Edwin AU! It's great because it combines the (homo)eroticism of vampiric feeding with Charles' whole bisexual crisis and post-confession Edwin worrying about making Charles uncomfortable. Also Charles is some kind of demigod/immortal agent of divine vengeance which is an AMAZING detail and I desperately want to see some fanart!

The same author's ongoing story to the pain is also excellent though very angsty (cw temporary character death). I'm anxiously waiting for an update!

This is an amnesia fic and the most recent in an established relationship series. The first two installments feature the boys getting together and navigating their new relationship, so pulling the old 'character A forgets their whole romantic relationship with character B' trope hits especially hard! The whole series is lovely, but I am WEAK for temporary-amnesia.

Charles falls first, Edwin falls harder. This is an AU of the author's excellent Charles' bisexual awakening fic, which I also highly recommend. It has lovely OCs and Charles having a sweet little friendship/romance with the boy he saved in canon, which actually makes his death a whole lot more tragic.

The agency attempt to help a living lesbian couple deal with a haunting. Meanwhile, Charles struggles through his bisexual (re)awakening. With bonus past (living) Charles no-homo-ing himself to the nth degree. Pure of heart, dumb of ass, indeed.

Vengeful Spirit Edwin AU! Has some interesting ghost lore and Edwin being convinced his touch is painful to Charles (love that trope!). Also features some of the author's adorable/hilarious fanart at the end.

The boys and Crystal accidentally summon an alternate universe version of Charles. He's very... handsy. Charles being jealous of himself is objectively hilarious and it looks like it could be heading towards throuple territory. Possibly even a foursome, if alternate Edwin figures out parallel universe travel. Which he probably will.

Still a Better Lovestory by Vamillepudding

Hanahaki disease! Charles is on the case but Edwin's being weirdly uncooperative about his own curse. I loved the worldbuilding (there's a whole sisterhood of washerwomen!) and the angst, plus the writing is excellent.

The author has also written Eternal Sunshine, in which Edwin is cursed to feel no love of any kind. It makes for an interesting character study, contrasting cursed Edwin, his public reserve and his actual personality.

there are many things to discuss but both sides do in fact only care about the visuals and thats the gag of it all

are characters with the power of regeneration inherently ableist?

Hi, I don't think I would go as far as to say that they inherently are, but the execution of it often leaves a lot to be desired.

In my opinion there's nothing wrong with the classic “insta-heals up a bloody wound they got in a fight” or whatever because that doesn't have to do much with actual disability. But what I think sucks is all these “this character acquired [real permanent disability] and now their life sucks - fear not! they will get Cured!” and then the quadriplegic character is no longer quadriplegic, “yay”. This is disability erasure in a very direct way and treats very real disabilities as plot points and tragedy material, not as something that's, IDK, real that real people live with.

It's especially grating when the character only gets/discovers their regeneration powers after they become disabled. It's so painfully cheap as a plot device, “they became totally DeafBlind in an accident, but then their powers awakened and they magically regained their senses the same week!!!” - who is this even for, and what's the point? This kind of backstory adds absolutely nothing. “We made this character disabled and so sad but sike! they are now abled and so happy!” why even bother?

A lot of these plotlines with disability and regeneration in the mix are just cure stories, and that's kind of their whole thing. The disability isn't something that they have, it's something that they had in Dark Times (and entered the Good Times after getting cured) or that happens to them suddenly and an “oof, thank lord I can just conveniently regenerate my disability or otherwise my life would be nothing but suffering!” follows.

As a disabled writer, it just annoys me how unoriginal and disability-erasing they get for no reason. One could write a character who regenerates from something that would otherwise be lethal and becomes disabled as a result (and see that as a good thing), but that would require thinking that being disabled is better than being dead, and it seems like most fantasy writers aren't ready for such a revolutionary thought.

There's also the thing where generally stories with these kinds of characters don't have anyone who's actually disabled in them, so the closest to a disability representation one gets is a guy who regrows his legs instead of becoming an amputee and regenerates his sight after becoming blind. Which is just. Eh.

This is my Personal One-Disabled-Guy Opinion on this, and I'm sure a lot of disabled people feel otherwise and/or don't feel any way at all about characters with regenerative powers : )

Okay, I know this is something pretty minute, but I really love the fact Lottie's father's name is Ambrose, which means immortal and he is a butterfly animagus, butterflies often symbolizing rebirth. Like, I know it's common for HP characters to have names that have a certain level of symbolism behind them (although tbh some names are REALLY questionable at best and offensive at worst, so we don't talk about those cases) but can't help but appreciate that detail
