Maybe this is a hot take as a Vax’ildan stan

but i truly don’t want him to come back and here’s why.

1) I think it’s lazy writing. Vax’s story ended years ago there’s no need to bring him back to a story or world that he’s not apart of anymore.

2) Vax was brought back numerous of times and this was his final moment, the whole crew cried hours he had a huge speech and now that’s gonna be pointless and a waste of energy that even happened if you bring him back.

3) I want him to be with Keyleth but what good is that going to do? Let her have happiness for a few years and then take it all away from her again? She’s going to out live him anyway, he’s going to die again and she’s going to be miserable again. She needs to grow and move on now .

4) Vax won’t be the same Vax’ildan he’s been through hell slaving for the raven queen and he’s not going to be emotionally okay for the real world, real people all over again. So more added Hell for Vax , Vex and Keyleth ! (tho i enjoy angst so.) Vax is going to revisit a world that moved without him, his twin is no longer his twin, everyone’s older and different.

Idk i just think Vax should stay dead and if Matt really brings him back after everything just so he can be with an NPC then that’s lazy writing 🤷🏽‍♀️ unless Liam gonna play him in the next campaign leave that GUY DEAD!!! Bringing him back makes his death scene less emotionally impactful.

9. Do you believe in ghosts? This isn’t about writing I just wanna know

so ghosts and god are kinda in the same realm for me. i've never had any paranormal experiences or anything, so i've never had like. hardcore proof that ghosts exist besides people i know sharing anecdotes. and i'm kinda an evidence-based believer of things so ghosts are like "it'd be cool if they existed, but jury's still out" for me

17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.

oh god so many WIPs to choose from. i'll start general and say if i Want something to happen in my fic, there's a 95% chance i'll find a way to make it fit, or i'll adapt it just enough to be recognizable as my initial idea, but able to fit into the story.

for a specific wip: i'll choose halcyon! people have probably heard me mentioning this fic a bit here and there, but it's basically my vexleth fake dating/destination wedding au. there's lots of random minutiae in that fic like the intricacies of academia (before i got into social work i wanted to be a professor), and then now that i'm In social work i would love to show some of what vax does (as, in the fic, he works at a children's shelter? i believe i have in my notes, i've adapted it a few times) as a reflection of what i do on the daily (i'm typing this from work rn lmfao). the lore of the whole fic is that vex was dating saundor but broke up with him after he started escalating in some abusive behaviors. saundor was supposed to be vex's date to vax and gilmore's destination wedding to the bay of gifts, and everything was booked already as the wedding is like Soon, so now they just have an empty spot on this trip. gilmore and vax asked vex to cover saundor's portion since he was no longer going, but vex, because she's cheap, ends up saying she needs a girlfriend.

i won't say more bc spoilers and audrie might kill me, but that fic will... it'll happen eventually. i have plans.

22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?

i used to be a pantser, if you'd believe, but in my second year of college i got really into outlining my papers in advance of writing them and it kinda transferred over into my creative writing!

depending on the fic i have a few different modes that are ever-evolving. for example, gravity's outline looked like this:

so in F you can see the actions and description happening in the scene, followed by 1-4 which is the dialogue, and then a) is the inner monologue.

for rites, though, i kind of just went into a fugue state and bullet pointed almost 70 scenes in order of how i wanted them to happen and then split these scenes into the 13 chapters we know and love. see this part of my messy outline of the scene bullets:

and then when i put them in the chapter outline, i would highlight completely written scenes in green, and then mark how many words they were for comparison:

so those are just two examples!

28. Who is the most delightful character you’ve ever written? Why?

delightful? in my fics i really enjoy writing the twins. vax has always been one of my fav characters, and once i got more into vexleth i found that vex is super fun to write as well! i love their emotional nuance, each of them, how vax has his goofiness and vex has her flirtiness and how both of these things are easily traceable back through their backstories.

The requests was that after the Vox Machina characters broke up with the S/O, the S/O left.

An angsty amount of time later(months or years depending on your tea)the team is going dungeon diving because they were hired to kill a demon in the dungeon. Problem is is that the demon took control over the S/O by using their feelings of betrayal and sadness.

Now they have to fight their S/O as the demon, using the S/O's body, says all the thoughts and feelings the S/O had(from their joy at finding "the perfect gift" to their feelings of betrayal)from their break up to their becoming a meat puppet.

Preferably with hurt/comfort at the end some how but if you can't then I can handle angst.

And having to resend actually helped me make this request better, so silver lining!

We love to see the silver linings in dumb situations (seriously Tumblr leave my ask box alone pls and thank you). But I'm glad to write this for you!!

Part 1

Percy

Honestly he’s so sick of dealing with demons so there’s definitely some dry humor coming from him about sending them all back to hell.

Maintains a neutral tone when he gets to the demon room and sees you there. There’s quite a bit that crosses his mind, but he prefers to listen instead of speaking.

Can’t help but let out a laugh when the demon mentioned all the heartbreak and betrayal that you went through due to him. You’re the one that tried to bring back his dead family!

Percy doesn’t show any mercy to the demon, if he has to attack you in the process then he’ll just use shots that won’t kill but will cause you to fall prone or something to keep you out of the way of the attack.

After the fight, Percy is just letting out a huge sigh when he approaches you. He’d say something like, “I’ve made my share of deals with demons and they didn’t end well.” just as a way to start a conversation with you. 

He’ll talk but there’s still a lot of tender feelings on both sides so it’s iffy with how things will go.

Scanlan

Goofing around like usual in the back of the group. Playing his instruments and making “your mom” jokes at enemies in the dungeon. Not being serious for a second.

Then the group approached the last room where the demon was going to be. Stepping in, he wasn’t expecting to see his old S/O there. 

He was hesitant when he did see you, not sure why you would be here of all places. That is until the demon began laughing about the new “pawn” that it picked up.

Definitely didn’t know what to think when he had to fight you. Especially when the demon practically narrated the whole ending of the relationship that he had with you and how betrayed you felt. 

When the demon is defeated, Scanlan would jokingly scold you for going and trying to make friends with a demon. He would then just take a large sigh and ask if you wanted to actually talk, because after what happened, a talk is long overdue.

The relationship might not be completely repaired, but communicating is a step in the right direction.

Vax

Probably became more broody than he already is over the years. He hardly lets others close and when he did, he pushed you away instead of talking. So he does have guilt. Communicating just isn’t his strong point.

So taking on a demon was a perfect way to relieve some stress. At least let him get out his anger. Or that was his plan until he saw you.

His guilt increased more when he saw you there and listened to the demon spouting words about how betrayed you were and how excited you were for Vax to be happy with your “gift”. 

Vax hardly listened to the demon’s gloating before he threw his first dagger. He just wanted to get this asshole gone. It’s the least he can do to make things up to you.

He’ll go to you after the fight and ask if you’re alright. He knows that things weren’t great when you left. But he asks if you’d be willing to just talk to him. Or at the very least, hear him out. 

Vex

Vex is tired and what better way to help than just getting money for retail therapy. Fighting demons is the perfect solution and so she is happily doing this request.

She does her usual thing of shoot first, ask questions later up until she sees you. 

She’s confused as to why you’re there and wants to ask questions but she knows she’s fighting a demon and is afraid of it being a trap.

Well she was kind of right when the demon begins monologuing from somewhere. Vex hardly listens as she doesn’t care about the demon’s words, she wants to talk to you. 

The demon is easily dealt with and she goes over to you, giving you some healing in case you need it. She’s going to 20 questions you with what actually happened for you to be in this situation.

Does feel bad when you state the demon was telling the truth about you being betrayed. So Vex tells you that she felt the same. Might as well get your emotions out of the way.

It’ll be a very emotion heavy talk and will probably make Vex even more tired. But the talk needs to happen so she will have it.

How about a Vox Machina one where the reader is generally the go to comfort person of the group? Maybe it's emotional or physical comfort, but everyone eventually has laid their head on their lap, stomach, shoulder, or leg. Just general caduceus vibes coming from the reader! She could even be a firbolg or tabaxi.

I think everyone needs a Caduceus in their life...

Idk if this turned out well, fingers crossed it did, idk I feel a little out of practice

Pike

She was the first to warm up to you, you both being similar in wanting to help and protect the party though Pike couldn’t always stick around. When she is around the two of you usually like spending some time together with her sitting in your lap while you help fix up her hair, carefully combing your hands though her white locks a few hair ties in hand.

"Sometimes I envy you." She says out of the blue one day, you let out a soft hum of acknowledgment and let her continue. "You get to be there for them, helping everyone while I run off to fulfil my duties to Sarenrae. There’s so much I have to do and figure out but I also so badly want to help, it just… it can be a lot sometimes." She lets out a soft sigh. You pause in your actions and think about her words for a moment.

"Do you dislike it?" You question.

"What? No, of course not. I have great faith in the path put before me." You chuckle lightly at her defensiveness.

"Then why envy me? Just because you aren’t always here with us doesn’t mean you're not helping. As far as I can see we all have our roles to play in the grand scheme of things. Sure, there are things I can do which you might not, but there are also things that only you can achieve that I certainly could never do. I could never replace you and what you mean to everyone, and I'd never want to." You finally resume your actions, finishing up with fixing her hair into neat little buns. "I hope your hair is to your liking." You quickly add handing over a mirror. She takes it and looks herself over before placing the mirror back down, looking up at you with a smile and giving you a hug.

"It’s perfect. Thank you, for everything… I really needed that talk. We should do this more often." You look down at her and return the smile and hug with a soft purr.

"It'd be my pleasure."

Keyleth

She had a charming awkwardness to her or at least that’s what you'd call it but even so you always welcomed any conversation with her no matter how strange they may be sometimes. Evenings seemed to be the time you’d have these conversations the most, taking in the cool air and overall unwinding from a long day. Today brought in something different when your ears flit around to catch the faint sound of footfalls making there way over to your location, turning to see Keyleth halt in her steps, you give her a kind smile.

"Care to join me, there’s plenty of room." You scoot over slightly and pat the ground next to you, accepting the offer she shuffles over and sits down. Neither of you say anything at first, just watching as the stars awaken and twinkle in the sky accompanied by crickets chirping their nightly sonata making for a serene atmosphere. You look over at Keyleth seeing a saddened expression drawn on her face, a slight gloss over her eyes. "Troubled?" You ask with a quiet voice.

"I uhh, I guess." She sighs, you move closer to her and she automatically leans her head against your shoulder, being mindful of the antlers.

"Care to talk about it?" You throw an arm around her shoulder and give her a few gentle back rubs. She takes a second and lets out a some puffs of air, you could feel her body tremble a little.

"What if I’m not cut out for this." She finally says. You turn your head slightly to look at her and she stares back a second before looking away again and continuing. "Becoming headmaster of the Air Ashari I mean." Doubt weighed heavily in her voice.

"You are a strong individual with a stubborn yet admirable determination when you set your heart and mind to something, perhaps not every plan works out in the end but you always have the interest of others in mind. Traits like that are well needed for a good leader." You reassure. She shifts in her position to wipe away any tears that were starting to fall with her arm.

"I just- I don’t know if I can really do this, my mother never returned and I’m not like my father." Before she can continue you turn your body and get a firm grip on her shoulders making her pause and finally look at you.

"Keyleth," the sudden firmness in your voice surprised her. "You're right, you are not your father nor are you your mother, the only person you can be is yourself and that is what makes you great. That’s what we all love about you, all of us here with you love you because you’re no one else but yourself. Stubborn, quirky awkwardness and all." When you finish your little speech you take a moment to let your words sink in for her. She stares at you stunned, the tears start trailing down her face again as it all sets in and she quickly embraces you with a soft sob, you return the gesture giving her a chance to let out all she’d been holding back.

"I never wanted this." She breaths, hiccuping through her words a little, sounding more muffled from leaning into your shoulder. You get the feeling she didn’t intend for that to be said aloud when she speaks again, more clearly this time. "You say it like that’ll make this easy."

"I know it won’t be, it’s a long, rough road ahead but you have to remember we’re all here for you every step of the way." You stay in the hug for a few minutes you soothingly comb your fingers through her hair until Keyleth finally lets go, signalling you to do the same.

"I think I feel a little better now. Did you still want to talk about something else?" She asks almost nervously making you chuckle softly.

"Of course, it’s always a pleasure to talk with you."

Vex

It took a while before Vex eventually started to warm up to you and give you her trust, not that you were surprised by this, but your calming presents brought in an ease where she could let down her guard without having to worry about being questioned for it, usually joining you while you meditated. You were always fine in letting her use you as a sort of backrest while she tried to come back down from whatever problems she may be going through, hearing her heavy breaths slowly start to calm into steady ones. What usually happens is she’d press her weight against your back, head resting between your shoulder blades with a light thud, you always take a quick peek over your shoulder to see her in a rather tense state, she shifts her gaze at you and you give her a warm smile before returning to your meditation. The silence brings a solace to the atmosphere, never feeling awkward between the two of you, only her heavy breaths being heard as you patiently wait for when or if she was ready to talk, gently wrapping your tail around her waist as support but not trapping her in place.

Most of the time you've well finished your needed meditation but even still decide not to move, just acting as support for your friend. Finally she shifts over making you remove your tail and giving you a chance to stretch your muscles a little. This time she comes around and sits herself in front of you, her eyes showing the broken girl deep down that wanted to say something her voice didn’t want to comply to speaking aloud, the both of you just sharing in a silent conversation by watching the other. You could see so much running though those eyes of someone who grew up with so little, in return you show gentle patience and kind reassurance. You’re surprised by the sudden feeling of her weight on you again, leaning against your shoulder for comfort. She’s never really been this vulnerable with you before, or at the very least didn’t show it often but you weren’t going to say anything about it, instead placing a hand on her back and giving a few pats before keeping it there. Sure not single word had been uttered the entire time but sometimes you don’t need words to express your thoughts.

"I-… Thank you." She says slowly, finally breaking the silence. You remove your hand and stand up properly, giving a small nod and smile.

"It was my pleasure."

Vax

It was a little surprising to you how much quicker Vax was to warm up to and trust you compared to his sister, your calm presents and well understanding of life and death really helping ease his nerves when he traded his life for his sisters to the Raven Queen. The two of you would have talks on rooftops often as a way to hold such deep conversations away from the others.

"I made the right choice, didn’t I?" It was a bit of an odd conversation starter, coming out of nowhere but you were used to that by this point.

"You saved your sisters life and didn’t you say before that you feel you may have finally found your purpose, if I were in your place I would’ve done the same." You say looking over at him, his eyes trained on the horizon for a moment before meeting yours.

"You’d do the same? But you already have a place and purpose in the world." He seemed surprised by your quick resolve, you shake your head with a small hum.

"Let me ask you something. If you only had one year to left to live what would you do? Would you sit on the thought and let it fester into fear and sorrow? Or would you make the most of every moment you've got, leaving your mark on the world with no regrets." He sits back a bit more, thinking over your question.

"Well of course I'd want to make the most of everything and leave with no regrets."

"Precisely, the choices we made are in the past now so we need to make the most of what we have here and now because everything will eventually come to an end, it’s what we do with our remaining time that really counts."

"You make a very compelling point… It’s very late, care to grab a drink?" You hold back a laugh at the sudden change in subject but nod.

"Of course, always a pleasure."

Grog

There really isn’t much to say about Grog, he's like a soft teddy bear deep down if you’re good friends with him and that’s about all there is to it. Though he does enjoy a nice hug from time to time from the "little kitty" as he liked to call you and you weren’t one to complain, so long as he isn’t accidentally crunching you with his immense strength. As for conversations, well there aren’t many and if there is they certainly aren’t anything thought provoking, again not that you’d complain. You liked his simplicity and needs for hugs whenever he wanted one, it's quite a pleasure to just spend time in one another’s company.

(I know this one's shorter but it’s Grog what else can one expect.)

Percy

Often quiet and giving a cold shoulder is what you came to accept from Percy for a while, you could easily tell the man had been through a lot in the past and still suffered from it in the present. However one odd encounter really changed that, finally letting him open up to you and strengthen the bond you shared…

Castle Whitestone, finally free from the Briarwoods grasp, could be a little tricky to navigate if you didn’t know what you were doing, which you didn't but you were following a sound you’d heard, letting your ears flit this way and that to see if you could pick up the sound again. This leads you to stumble upon an old and seemingly forgotten storage room. Letting the curious nature in you take hold you enter the dusty room seeing Percy of all people had also found his way here before you and was staring at something. Getting a closer look, you see that it’s an old portrait of his family, a bit torn in places but still well enough intact. Percy raises his hand and places it on the painting then balls his hand into a fist, looking ready to punch something, his gaze then suddenly shifts and meets with yours. The both of you just stare at each other in a tense feeling silence.

"I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt anything. I’ll just take my leave." You give a slight bow of your head and prepare to turn and leave, stopping when you feel a light grip on your wrist. Turning to face him again you can see that Percy himself wasn’t sure why he just stopped you, his expression too had completely changed from the stone faced man you knew to a broken boy who never got to truly mourn his family. There was only one thing you could think of doing to help as you silently offer your shoulder for him feeling slightly shocked when he actually accepts it, releasing his grip on your wrist to embrace you in this rare moment of solitude and vulnerability between the two of you. Retuning the embrace you stay in place for as long as he needed, letting a more comfortable silence now ease into the room.

"I see why everyone’s easily grown quite comfortable in you’re presents." He finally says with a small chuckle and releasing his grip on you.

"Call it a blessing or curse if you wish but I’m always happy to help." You subtly try and joke, giving a closed-eye smile and unconsciously let out a small purr.

"Perhaps I misjudged you in the past, like everyone else, I do hope we can look past that and start again properly." He sounded hopeful and you were happy to oblige.

"It would be my pleasure."

Scanlan

Always the ever comical one, Scanlan never really felt the need to share much about his personal life openly to anyone but that didn’t mean it wasn’t there. You knew this full well but didn’t feel the need to pressure him into admitting anything, you didn’t have to seeing as he sorta did it to himself unintentionally when he decided to splay himself onto your lap much to your own confusion. Oh well, at least he was still wearing pants this time.

"You know you keep staring at me like you know something." He starts, using his arms to act as a headrest.

"I’m sorry, I didn’t realize. I don’t mean to cause you any discomfort." You apologize before refocusing on the book in your hands. Silence washes in, he stays laying across your lap the entire time before the quiet gets to be too much for him.

"If you really do have something to say, just say it already!" He sounded irritated making you look away from your book once more to stare at him. "See, that’s what I mean! You look like you have something to say so say it and get it over with!" You remain silent and his expression shifts to slight regret. "Uhh… did you have something to say?" He finally questions. You let out a quiet sigh.

"Well that depends," you pause a second and he stares up at you expectantly. "Was there something you wanted to hear?"

"Wait, what?" He shakes his head in confusion before continuing. "No, of course not. I don’t need to hear anything because everything’s just fine. That's it! That’s all it is and that’s all it’ll be. Nobody really cares, I’m just the funny man who plays songs and makes jokes. Why should anyone ask about him or who his mother was before they were killed in front of him by damn goblins! Why would they, it doesn’t matter that’s not why I’m here! It doesn’t matter!… I… I don’t matter." You listen in silence as he goes on, letting his true feelings out alongside some tears, but you listened to all of it until he finally ran out of words letting out small puffs of air.

"What was your mother's name?" He jumps in surprise, somehow having forgotten he was still sitting in your lap and stares up at you, seeing your calm patient eyes stare back.

"Ummm, heh." He gives a halfhearted chuckle while wiping away some tears. "Juniper. Her name was Juniper."

"She sounds like she was a lovely woman, I am terribly sorry for your lose." You place a hand over your heart, bowing your head slightly as a sign of respect.

"She was." He stares off a little before looking back at you with a slightly nervous expression. "So uhhh, you’re not planning on sharing this conversation with anyone else… are you?" You give a light shake of your head.

"Not unless you want me to."

"No no, absolutely not." He jumps in quickly, you give a nod in understanding. "Anyways, I for one have had enough of whatever that was… but uhhh, thank you… for being the first to listen." He gives almost a sigh of relief when he says this, like a large weight had finally been lifted.

"It's my pleasure."

6.If you could move somewhere else, would you? Yes. I'd move to either New York or Sweden. I don’t know. Part of me says yes. But part of me says no..b/c even though Texas has it’s faults (a LOT of them), I cannot imagine living anywhere else long-term..

7. Ever been kissed under fireworks? HAHA. Yeah right. I've never even been kissed! Still nope. I have been kissed though. He just didn’t kiss me under the fireworks the one NYE we spent together...

8. Which of your friends lives closest to you? Um, I think R, but D might also. D is accross Stasney from me and R is a couple blocks down (I don’t talk to these people much anymore & I’m not going to share their names on Tumblr) Uh. I think Maybe Raven? B/c they’re the only one who lives in the same city still. But, Sarah might technically be closer distance wise? Hold on. Ok, yeah, Sarah’s closer, even though she doesn’t live in this city anymore.

9. Do you believe exes can be friends? It all depends on the situation.(I totally stold M's answer but it's true) (I don’t talk to this person anymore & I’m not gonna share their name on Tumblr) I mean, yeah. Two of my best friends are each others exes and they’re still friends. I haven’t stayed friend with my ex, but, uh, he ghosted me so? Lol.

10. How do you feel about Dr. Pepper? I love it. I still love it. Lol.

11. When was the last time you cried really hard? I can't remember. I don't think it was that long ago, I had a light cry on Saturday, but I don't remember the last time I cried really hard. When we got back from our trip in July. Had a full on breakdown that night. Overheated all weekend. Overwhelmed. Anxiety. It was not a very good vacation..I cry a lot though.

13. Who was the last person you took a picture of? Umm, either myself, or one of my family members. Aside from myself. I think my dad, on his phone, b/c there was a cicada on his shoulder and he wanted to ask the family group chat if he could keep it. Lol. I take a LOT of pictures of cats though. Lol.

I say this as a Fjorester shipper who is 100% ambivalent about W*dojest — I genuinely am, I’m not trying to pull some fake fandom credentials for credit — but your post about Liam was needlessly antagonist, and really not fair

Liam has done nothing disrespectful to Fjord or Jester, or to Laura and Travis. He has never tried to take a Fjorester moment and make it about Caleb — even when he saw them cuddle for the first time and acknowledged it, the Fjorester moment was already over and it was fine, it was fair game for Liam to say that (WJ shippers, on the other hand, are *constantly* making Fjorester moments about Caleb, but I’m not talking about them) Caleb has never once implied that Fjord and Jester shouldn’t be in a relationship together, and neither has Liam. And Liam has confirmed that he had no intention of having Caleb pursue Jester romantically, so it’s not like there’s a secret plan for Caleb to break up Fjord and Jester. And really, Liam was so excited and proud of Travis in episode 118! He meta-teased them in episode 119! Liam is happy and approves of Fjorester.

Yeah, it’s easy for Liam, speaking for Caleb, to gush about my Beauyasha! It’s easy for Caleb to be happy for them. His feelings for Jester (which themselves are not disrespectful in anyway — Jester treats Caleb with kindness and love and consideration, because she treats all of her friends that way, and Caleb is/has been deprived of that kind of attention — it’s not some weak excuse made by Liam to create dramatic tension to say that Caleb has developed feelings for Jester) and even his arguable attraction to Fjord make things more difficult. And that’s totally fair.

And unlike Beauyasha, Liam had no reason to describe his feelings about Fjorester on Talks Machina! The Beauyasha date already happened, and it was a lovely and grand moment — while Caleb had yet to talk to either Fjord or Jester about their relationship, so Liam has no reason to go in depth about his feelings for his friend’s fake relationship on Talks. It would be much more impactful to address it in character, during the game, and as far as I’m concerned, that discussion will happen. So long as there are no surprising perma-deaths that make that discussion impossible, Liam probably wants Caleb to talk to one or both of them about it. We have been inundated with emotional conversations lately, we’ll have a dozen more before they fight the Tombtakers, and it will be fair game for Liam to talk about it as much as anyone wants him to on Talks after that.

I know that there are people who hate Liam no matter what he does, and take all of his choices in bad faith. I’m not one of them, I love Liam, but you might be one of those fans — idk you, I just saw your post in the fjorester tag and thought, wow, that’s not at all the interpretation I made at all. Your post might have just been your form of venting, and you almost certainly weren’t expecting an anon to write an essay in your asks, so feel free to delete this without any guilt. But I feel like your post really missed the mark and implies that Liam isn’t a supportive friend or player at the table, and imposes fan-created ship drama onto the players

I wrote a long post replying to all the things you mentioned because I disagree with most of them, but I decided that I don't wanna add to the discourse today because I know we won't change each other's mind.

So just the most important points:

- I'm not a Liam hater, although I'm not surprised you said this because since the campaign started every time someone tries to criticize Liam or Caleb, people try to discredit them as just mindless haters that complain about everything they do.

I like Liam as a person, I like him in every other CR content, I liked Vax as a character and the twins were my favorite part of vox machina. I just don't like his playstyle when it comes to romance (since C1) and I was never a big fan of Caleb (since way before wj was even a possibility)

- Second, the thing that bothers me is not the ship itself. But the fact he made a point to show Caleb acknowledging fjorester (aka Jester's choice when it comes to her romantic relationships), but still didn't change the way Caleb behaves with her. That moment would've been the perfect way to close this chapter in Caleb's story in a meaningful way.

I know feelings don't simply disappear, but is it really necessary to bring them up all the time now? I mean, just look at Pikelan in C1, Scanlan never stopped loving Pike, but when he realized things needed to change, he stopped bringing it up all the time and focused on other important things for his story. 

I know both ships are completely different, but you can understand what I mean. If Caleb is aware he needs to move on, than why bring it up all the time? Or at least have him *talk* to someone (not fjord or jester because I think this would be even worse) about it instead of just narrating everything in an unnecessary way, have it be a way to show growth instead of being a weird guy in a corner staring at an unaware woman. 

- Finally, I don't think Liam is doing this in bad faith, maybe he's not even aware. Media spent decades showing these type of stories. How many movies and tv shows do we see where a guy showing affection for an unavailable woman is portrait as the highlight of romance? I'm not surprised one of them thinks this too and chose to include it in his character story.

My only comfort is knowing Critical Role is not a scripted show, otherwise we know how this would end.

I just wish people respected a woman's choice to pursue romance with whoever she wants and realized that a grown ass man pinning for his friend for a year while fully aware she doesn't feel the same is not romantic.

Do you have a opinion on Nott (96) episode? (Idk why I phased it as if I am asking you opinion of a really fancy meal but I have and I am gonna send it anyway) (Thank you for you blog, it is amazing)

I really loved the conversation she had with Caleb. I think it reminded me a lot of CR1 when Vax would have these kind of talks with Vex. It made me sad, felt bittersweet. I think her making a point to disagree with Caleb and say that for her, physical appearance WAS important, was a good step. It spoke with a lot of us too, I’m sure. I get where Caleb is coming from, and I definitely agree with it as it pertains to myself, but I think for especially my other trans friends it is important to remember that its more complicated than just “its what’s inside.” Often, because of how society treats you, but a bunch of internalized stuff too. Nott’s certainly got both those things in spades.

Awwww nope. Okay, here’s… here’s where I gotta get some personal weirdness on, let’s see if I can get through without somebody thinking I hate Nott (because I don’t!) Putting the rest of this under the cut cuz it gets long.

I think I’m going to be very disappointed if Nott doesn’t go back home to Yeza and Luc. I think I’m going to feel kind of “i told you so,” about it. I think that I will judge her for it and I think I’m gonna be avoiding talking about her for quite awhile if she doesn’t. I already am, currently, judging her for not being there now - even as a goblin. Even with the issues with appearance. Nott reminds me of my biological mom, though, and nothing is gonna change that. 

That being said - there is a small part of me, the part that relates entirely to Caleb (which, actually, is a rather big part of me), that will be very sad if she she doesn’t stay. I understand what it’s like to have a Person, the safe one, the oldest one - and I also understand what it’s like when that Person doesn’t prioritize you the same way you do them. Not for any fault of Nott’s! Because again - see above. My personal biases regarding my family are BEGGING her to go back to them. But that doesn’t change Caleb’s situation. But who knows? Maybe now is the perfect time - maybe he’s built enough of a safe haven with the m9 that her leaving won’t be so traumatic. 

Now - speaking a little bit more to the future and to a lot of Nott meta I’ve seen recently …. I don’t want her to stay with her family if all she’s going to be doing is wishing she was away. But to stay away from them, on the off-chance that she might end up hating it there? That is what I find distasteful. If it was just Yeza, I probably would understand more. But instead she’s got a KID. She’s constantly reminding the M9 that she’s got A KID. But she doesn’t really act like it, she just talks about it. She feels sorry for herself, but it doesn’t seem to me like she feels sorry for Luc. And yes, she probably feels like being a goblin would be scary to him, or unfair to him, and fair enough - that’s some esteem issues. But if she doesn’t go back when she’s a halfling again, at least to face up to her issues and have a real conversation with her family about them? Bruh. 

I mean, you know, its REAL. Nott is an amazing character because its SO REAL. It’s the most real, for a lot of us with absent parents, or parents who gave us up, or parents who are just kind of selfish. Like, it makes TOTAL sense. Nobody is perfect and everybody’s got issues - Nott’s issues just hit some corners of my life that make me not wanna be constantly praising her or her choices. :) But I’m very much still invested in her story and where it goes. I just don’t know that I’m a good person to ask if people are interested in sympathetic understanding, if that makes sense.

How I feel about this character:  I love him!!  Admittedly he’s not my FAVORITE of VM but it just goes to show how much I like the VM kids that I love him so much.  The boy’s ridiculous

My unpopular opinion about this character:  I still feel a little bitter about his death.  I know most people have gotten over it but there’s something about it that still just feels WRONG, idk... It felt incomplete to me.  Which I get it, that’s death.  He’s lucky he even got the time that he did and I’m not mad at the Raven Queen herself (or the cast), but like... why can’t I be angry at death?  That shouldn’t have been the end of his life, fuck it.  He deserved more time, as do we all.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:  I mean... of course I wish he’d lived.  I know everyone was big hopeful about Scanlan’s wish (or Percy doing the contract, or Grog pulling the Fate card) but tbh I was sorta hoping for Pike to do Divine Intervention and then basically have Sarenrae and the Raven Queen basically have a conference/debate it out lol. It’d have been interesting because the Raven Queen was the goddess that Vax hadn’t chosen but had accepted and grew into... But Sarenrae was who he was about to chose which would have been interesting.  Maybe ending up with a Persephone ending, where Vax is with the Raven Queen in winter and with VM in summer?  Idk but Divine Intervention had been my big hope going into the finale tbh.  Honestly if anyone has a fic with that (the Divine Intervention part), let me know!!

Far away, there’s a magical kingdom called Asclepius. There, people live long and comfortable lives due to the amount of medical care. They are guided by King Vax and his loyal advisor, the bee fairy Screen. Screen ends his sentences in -scre, and he is responsible for using divination to try and keep Asclepius safe. However, Screen is getting old, and he’s training an apprentice, the dog fairy Preven.

When the Rotovir League attacks, Preven is tasked with finding the four destined members of Yes! Dress Medicate Pretty Cure. In addition to their standard forms, they each have three power boosts they can use (but only for a short time, and only one at a time): bandage (more magical stamina), needle (emphasis on defensive magic), and scalpel (emphasis on offensive magic). All of them can use healing magic. First, however, they need to find a way to keep the Rotovir League from sinking their claws in too deeply on Earth, and also battle the warusu they keep sending. (Warusu literally translates to Aggravate, but it’s also me making a portmanteau of the Japanese translation of the phrase “bad virus”, aka warui uirusu.)

Our leader is Ayako Satō, aka Cure Pediatric. She wants to go to medical school and become a pediatrician. Everyone who knows her says that Ayako is very helpful and studious, and everyone who’s known her since she was a child will say that it’s wonderful that she’s grown into such a kind and disciplined young woman. In reality, she’s a bit of a stepford smiler, and she’s wanted to go to med school because she blames herself for her sister’s death when they were both rather young. 

Ayako is definitely going to become the dark magical girl of the season, and it’ll be up to Preven and the other cures to save her. Instead of black, she’s going to wear a really bright red because surgeons wear cool colors for relief for their eyes from flesh tones. In the mean time, she’s got some cool attacks involving stickers and lollipops.

In blue we have Mieko Okabe, aka Cure Neurologist. She’s claustrophobic and isn’t fond of sports, but she loves video games and often will use video game terms in battle. Her powers allow her to use illusions. When Ayako is taken over by the Rotovir League and becomes a warusu, Mieko ends up leading the team.

In green we have Yūki Masumoto, aka Cure Anesthetic. Her powers allow her to use a sort of venom. It takes her a while to start using her needle and scalpel forms, because she found them scary, but when she does use them she’s incredibly powerful. Even though she’s a bit of a crybaby, she’s also very happy-go-lucky; the smiles she has are real. Yūki is a bit of a daydreamer, and she wants to write comic books. She ends up collaborating with Mieko on video games, with Mieko doing the code and Yūki taking care of the story.

Finally, in purple we have Kirika Kawaguchi, aka Cure Plastic. Due to a car crash when she was little, Kirika has a wheelchair. It flies in combat as well as helps her with the fact that her powers center around building, and she will not gain the ability to walk at the end of the series unlike a certain show I won’t mention here. She wants to run a line of fashionable prosthetics and wheelchair accessories. I’ll admit, I was tempted to call her Cure Prosthetic or Cure Bioengineer, but the first feels patronizing and the latter doesn’t really fit with the theme.

Also, I ended up designing Cure Pediatrics’s standard outfit.

Yes, she has four heart shaped buns. All the girls have the mask and the same lab coat vest and skirt. However, the lab vest and skirt change slightly for the bandage, needle, and scalpel forms. In addition, the girls each have different sleeves, gloves, shoes, and symbols. Their transformation pens are kept in their left pocket. In their right pocket are three (bandage, needle, and scalpel) charms they must touch to their pens to use.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Nonners! I was super concerned about their voices and all sorts of things, so I’m really glad to hear you liked it! And thank you for this excellent question! For those who are confused, this is a question about my fic gently in the cold dark earth.

Answer under the cut because I like to ramble and also maybe it could spoil something??? idk, probably not.

First off, Vex and Vax are still relatively “new” to town. They haven’t lived there since forever, only like...four years. And the only one they know of VM is basically Percy. Whose family is more alive than not, relatively speaking, and who runs the town. Percy, and his family, are basically Jekyll and Hydes. And if that’s not a thing I’m making it a thing. Naturally he gets a little, well, smoky and shooty when he goes Hyde-y.

Vax wasn’t always a vampire, obviously, and before he was turned, he and Vex were totally normal humans. After, obviously, Vex started to look into things, and that’s a lot of why they moved into the town. She’s learning how to be a witch, because she wants to help her brother, and so she’s learning from Allura in town. 

Keyleth, Grog, Pike and Scanlan are all from the town (or at least transplanted there so long ago that memory fades) but have each been off doing their own thing for a while! Originally Grog wasn’t anything either, and he went on an adventure with Pike (who is divine, naturally) and they ran into some werewolves and well. 

So then Pike called Keyleth because most werewolves do lose themselves and hurt themselves or their friends and end up with a shortened lifespan and having to be put down. Obviously Keyleth was able to come up with something that worked, though they’re still working some of the kinks out of it! (It’s not so bad, but having to play fetch with him for five days around the full moon is just exhausting, Keyleth and Pike would both like a break.) 

Scanlan refuses to tell anyone what he is, other than spectacular, but Keyleth knows. She’s not telling because he manages to win a favor from her and she’s bound not to tell. (But I can tell you, right? You won’t tell any of the others?) Scanlan is a Trickster God, and ridiculously powerful as long as he’s doing it for the lulz. 

Keyleth is actually the oldest of all of them, which is probably why Pike called her for help, and she may or may not have had a hand in founding the town. 

Um, probably more than you were looking for there! Anyways, thank you so much for the ask! I always love rambling about headcanons! (As long as I don’t lose the will to live from tumblr eating it too often!)

2)      Gender? like all my other ocs bc i’m very self indulgent, he is a trans guy!

3)      Romantic/Sexual Orientation? vax can think boys are cute, but he’s never been a very romantically active person. he doesn’t lack a capacity for affection, he’s just always... busy with other stuff? it’s not something he thinks about often. if he’s buzzy around someone it’s probably bc he adores their cybernetics/etc work

7)      Any disabilities? hokay this is a Vax Secret but he has some sort of muscular and/or skeletal disorder i need to research into/get specifics on but the general idea is that he can get very weak and achey and have trouble moving sometimes! he deals with this via another Vax Secret i might talk about sometime

8)      Is there a meaning to their name? in asuran ?? idk i dont think their names have meanings, but irl its a shortened asurafied version of ‘vaccine’ bc i thought it sounded cool

Odd Question but he’s very shaped by his childhood experiences studying his father’s work and looking up to his dad and he’s very defined by his innate drive to bulldoze towards goals he has and wants to research... he’s a very stubborn and determined person who’s very much an agent For Himself

10)   What do they want to be when they grow up/what do they want to do with their lives? he is Growed Up but he really wants to keep chasing revolutions in prosthetics/augments/cybernetics.. he wants to help people in ways they couldn’t otherwise be helped (atypical inquest huh)

What are they like and how do they act with their child(ren)? yes one parent, a single dad! ppl who’ve been watchin my hell rp server stuff will know his name is akka and he’s one of the top prosthetics smiths in the industry and was very private about his work but had a very cutting edge philosophy towards artificial parts and lead some really revolutionary work... dr. akka is a very kind and patient man with a good soul who is a tad weary from the world but he loved his son very much! he and vax had a great bond and vax was always eager to learn about his dad’s life work and his dad was always eager to teach him.. akka is an overall pretty amazing man, it’s a shame he joined the inquest for some reason and now we don’t know his current whereabouts......

12)   Do they have siblings? How do they interact with them? If not, do they wish they had siblings? he technically has a sibling! maybe more? but he’s never met them... vax is perfectly pleased with being an only child, we’ll have to see how he reacts if he ever meets this one. it’s actually a character y’all are already familiar with.......

13)   Extended family? Do they see them often? nope and nope

14)   Do they like where they live? (Is it a safe place?) vax essentially lives out of his workshop within the sigma-5 prime division laboratory space which is Not a safe place no....... but he loves it... he technically has an apartment somewhere in soren draa that is as much of a junk pile as his workshop whoops (vax is very much a ‘i know where everything is in this chaos. don’t move it’ person...)

15)   Where do they live? Are they wealthy? Poor? Middle-Class? i semi-answered this above but he has enough funding via the inquest to do his research projects as well as have a place for himself! i wouldn’t call him upper class probably just kinda middle ish, he keeps himself afloat alright

16)   Do they have a lot of expectations/pressure on them from family to do great? despite vax’s attachment to akka’s work and vice versa, akka is a very chill guy who never expected vax to live up to it or anything like that.. he just thought it was great vax had the interest in it

17)   Do they have pets? alas, no.... if he did i could see him owning smth more atypical like a ferret and fuck i kinda like that idea now i’ll have to meditate on it

18)   Who do they look up to the most/are the closest to in their family? take one guess

21)   Best Friend(s)? alas vax is... very very much a lone wolf! this section is gonna be hard to answer and i’m probably gonna have to cross out some stuff because vax purposefully doesn’t really get close to anyone and he’s exceedingly unperturbed about this.. i meant it when i said he’s very self-driven! he’s not ultra egotistic and he doesn’t hate other people, nor is he unempathetic (i’d say he has a good degree of empathy actually), he’s just kind of... uninterested? he won’t hate you or be nasty to you for no reason, he’s just not interested in befriending/being around you as an aspect of his life

22)   Who was their first friend? probably some of the other progeny tried to befriend him in precollege he he was Smart which is Cool but they quickly learned that vax’s idea of friendship is he will give you a quick synopsis of what he’s currently on and then go silent as he continues to work on it

23)   What is their friend group like? there are a lot of inquest underlings who try to suck up to him because he’s their boss and also a shining star virtuoso with his work................. vax remains oblivious and unpeturbed

24)   Do they have a love/hate relationship with any of them? yes. specifically plex. who is his best tech ops drone but plex is a... sort of pushy person wrt trying to Befriend vax and he has a very obvious crush on vax and vax is mostly oblivious to it but sometimes feels weird about plex’s sudden ‘random’ bursts of being super buddy-buddy with him. in plex’s defense a bit, plex doesn’t know how to interact with people either

25)   Do they consider any of their friends to be like siblings?

26)   Have they ever hurt a friend or lost one? he’s probably unintentionally driven off people by coming across as super cold... i think he feels bad if he accidentally upsets people with his demeanor but he’s not quite sure what to do about it bc he doesn’t really want to upset people but he also doesn’t want to force himself to be MegaFriendly anyway esp considering his trials with social interaction are kind of a hardwired brain thing (he’s got like... vague assorted ADHD-autistic spectrum traits)

31)   What grade are they in? If they aren’t in school, how come? he has graduated college! he was top of the class his year at dynamics

Bad one? i’m sure he’s had a Variety of teachers but most of his teachers probably liked him a good bit since he’s smart and yknow, Asura Be Like That... i’m sure he’s conversely had a few who butted heads with him over his philosophy on cybernetics because he has a much more open ended approach that’s a bit focused on the idea that prosthetics are body parts and people with prosthetics are Whole People not People With Additional Bits Slapped On/In and he’s very ginger with prosthetics/augments he handles and treats them like they’re the same as fleshy body parts and deserve the same delicate care despite being metal, and overall he has more of a focus on the actual people he’s working with i think, and i can see some more hardass/uptight teachers in particular not liking this because it’s kinda unasuran to more traditionalist types to have such a.. humane view on work rather than being enthused solely with your numbers and research results

33)   Do/Did they listen to their teachers or are/where they goofing off a lot? vax is very headstrong and if you have useful advice then its useful advice but if you dont then fuck off and let him do his work how he’s determined to do it... he doesn’t goof off but he has no respect for authority if authority gives bad commentary

34)   Are/Where they a good student grade wise? top marks except for in classes where he was abrasive with the teachers who’s work ethics clashed with his but what can you do

35)   Do/Did they need extra help? nope... he probably ended up tutoring a few people actually (which probably was due to a nudge from a teacher and not.. vax’s sole volition of wanting to tutor people)

Divorced? i already kinda answered this but he’s not partic romantically involved... however i think if he found someone he was In Sync With and who understood his mannerisms then he’d be very content with them... i think he would need a stable easygoing relationship based on shared interests and just casually fitting together and supporting each other rather than anything passionately heated or overly focused on traditional displays of affection

42)   What is their favorite hobby? Do they keep it a secret? he’s a big nerd who collects various prosthetics/augment models and he absolutely doesn’t keep it a secret...................... 75% of the RP i’m in with him rn has been him geeking out over augs. the other 25% was me describing the facility.

43)   If they could have one thing in life, what would it be? i think he’s more overall focused on the idea of a continuous stream of improvement over a few static goals? he’s constantly laying out new traintracks in front of himself to steam ahead on... he’d like to be happy and successful at what he does, ultimately, and really attain super advanced inventions

44)   Do they work? If so, what is it? If not, are they looking for one or even want one? despite everything i’ve said here about him being a good empathetic guy, he is Inquest........ the inquest funds his research he does at their labs and they pay him for being the sigma-five supervisor

45)   Do they use social media? i can’t see him using social media much tbh... he might be into podcasts and asuran youtube a bit

46)   Have they ever been in the hospital? due to his strength issues and some stuff that happened as a very small child he has been quite a bit yes

47)   Do they believe in the supernatural, that there is more than the eye can see? this is a weird question in the context of gw2 which has canon ghosts whoops.. im gonna interpret it as ‘are they superstitious’... vax isnt superstitious and i think he’d be very brave facing questionably supernatural forces but in a sort of logical way uh... he would Not be the first to die in a horror movie.... he’s a skeptic of non-scientific magic things with i think some lingering internal paranoia.. he’s a very logical person

48)   What do they do when they get angry, stressed, or upset? broods in private probably....... depending on what he’s heated about he might go sit by himself for awhile or he’s gonna take his anger out while working on a project

49)   Would they consider themselves as a good person, bad person, or morally grey? i think he tries to be a good person but he’s skeptical of that Status a lot and worries over it a good bit... again, typical inquest!

50)   Does this OC have any part of you in them? (I.e, personality traits, similar background, etc) all of my ocs have parts of me in them to some degree, i think vax carries some things related to my disabilities, interpersonal and moralistic struggles, and the nerdy passion over my special interests

Ramblings #2: TAZ ending and Wheel of Time and Critical Role

i’m like really nervous about the TAZ ending because I really really don’t want it to end. i know the show won’t be over, they’ll be doing some new game or something like that after the Balance Arc is over, but i really don’t want THB’s story to end. weirdly enough, it feels a bit similar to Wheel of Time ending. when i finished it, WoT had been over for a little while and technically it had already ended and i was just finishing it, but it’s been like 3~4 months since i finished it and i’m still really emotional about it. it’ll be different with TAZ, since i’ll be having the ending alongside all the other fans and WoT holds a very different place in my heart than TAZ does (it took me like years to get through WoT and some parts of it were a slog but the parts that were good were great (it’s weird compairing it to TAZ on that level because TAZ doesn’t have very many ‘bad’ parts and pretty much every moment is baller) and it was 14 books long and occupies a whole shelf on my bookshelf but it feels very impactful to me, more than just a good piece of entertainment and it’s great that i’m affected by that at my age (19) because you always hearabout the books people read as kids being the ones that influence who they are, and also as soon as i finished it i found a bunch of great heavy/power metal songs that sound kinda like fantasy ballads or tavern songs, and also it’s over over. like, the theme of cycles and rebirth run throughout the series and each book started with the same line and it’s is so so so fucking sad to me that it ended with them saying that it’s completely done and while the cycle will continue and the wheel of time will turn, we’re not gonna see any more. and at least the TV show that hopefully will eventually come out, whether it’s good or bad, will it least help slake my hunger for any more Wheel of Time content) and this long parentheses made me lose track of the sentence but i essentially want, after the Balance Arc is over, some great heavy metal songs or tavern songs about it. 

Also, Critical Role! man, i still really like it, but the most recent episode was really fucking boring. and i thought VM’s story would have been over like 10 episodes ago uggghh. like, the characters are fine, but it feels like they’re retreading the same old ground over and over again. and everyone gets upset over a character death, but they’re never gonna die! they have always come back! and i know there’s reasons for that and the actors don’t want to let go over their favorite characters that they’ve played for years, but it makes for bad storytelling. the only moment that came close was Scanlan’s departure. IDK if it’s just Sam Riegel’s comedic genius, but Scanlan and Tary have been some of the best things in Critical Role to me recently. It might be because they were sort of new situatuons, with a departure more shocking and heartbreaking than a death, and the introduction of a new character, which changes up the group dynamic and we get to see his development and backstory firsthand rather than just hearing about it. VM has been really...unrelatable for a while (though that might just be most of the other D&D shows/campaigns feature more murder-hobo style characters rather than like actual heroes) since they started off at a high level and have only gotten higher and started off also as big well known heroes and have only gotten more popular and heroic. no offense to Liam or Vax fans, but i think he’s probably my least favorite character. my favorites are probably Scanlan and Grog, though that might be cause they tend to be more comic relief. I wasn’t a huge fan of Grog originally, because the low-intelligence barbarian feels a bit overdone, but he’s grown on me, especially after the Battle Royale where he beat pretty much everyone. I know a lot of these problems aren’t really anyones fault and are just the result of playing D&D in front of an audience (for example, them going through Elysium was really boring to me the descriptions seemed to go very long but that was necessary more for the players than for the audience) and can’t be helped, but I just really wanted to vent. I still love it, though it has been kind of preempted by TAZ at the moment

I’m dreading the TAZ finale but the Critical Role finale can’t come soon enough. I am really looking forward to their new campaign, with new characters we get to witness from the beginning, in terms of group dynamic, power level, social status, and backstory, and to see the players show off some different styles of  roleplaying and acting. On a side note, I really love half-elves but CR almost has too many half-elves. In the new campaign, I’d like to see more tieflings, dragonborn, and maybe some dwarves. And more class diversity! I know a lot of them have multiclassed, and Scanlan is a good caster, but they really need a proper spellcaster. And maybe they could try out some of the Unearthed Arcana stuff, like they did with Tary’s Artificer class. The current CR campaign feels stuck in the same ol’ same ol’ , and I feel their are a lot more possibilities in the new campaign. 

I really just fear being as emotionally hurt by the TAZ ending as I was by the WoT ending. WoT had a very happy ending, with pretty much everyone surviving (with a few very sad exceptions) and the protagonist even cheating death, but most of the sadness comes from having to leave this amazing world I eventually grew to love over the course of 14 books and not getting to see what happens next. I would have preferred to see a book set in the same world but 100 or so years in the future (like Alloy of Law but not like Legend of Korra (I couldn’t watch LoK because while we get to see the world ATLA characters made, it hurt to see some of them alive and in it while others aren’t. In Alloy of Law it’s different cause pretty much all the characters from the previous books are either dead and figures of legend and revered or are gods/demi-gods and involved in the mysteries of the Cosmere.))and just sort of see the tale of a new Dragon and see what world the WoT characters left for us. Becuase it’s whole thing is that it’s not supposed to end and the Wheel of Time will always be turning and the Light will always be fighting against the Shadow and it’s somehow both very fitting and antithetical at the same time to have an ending like that. Also I imagine that some of the WoT characters would now be Heroes of the Horn as well. The TAZ ending will also sting, even though the “show” will continue, the Balance Arc will be over and they’ll be moving on to new games. While I may not exactly miss the world of TAZ I will really miss the characters and their story. Now it might have an epilogue with a “And the all lived happily ever after” moment (which I would work for the nature and story of TAZ but for other works I would prefer an ending that fits and is thematically coherent with the rest of the narrative than one that is just “happy”, like you wouldn’t expect Game of Thrones to have a happy ending but I’ll be satisfied as long as it fits with the rest of the series) that might kind of help with the metaphorical pain. And i kind of betting that they will probably have something like that, given the nature of the show, their characters who they’re very invested, and their fanbase. actually now sort of talking it out i’m less nervous about the TAZ ending than I was when i started the post and it probably won’t hurt as much as the WoT ending and at least we’ll be getting more content afterwards.

Chronicles of Exandria: The Legend of Vox Machina II

I did this for the first volume, so I bought this artbook right away just to do it again. <3 My Winter’s Crest gift to all the critters.

The art. Once again I cannot overstate the stunning artwork of the critter community. I know some fans balk at the price, but all the artists are paid to have their art in the book - and I think the big price tag is well worth artist getting some compensation for their work (do correct me if I’m wrong). I won’t be sharing any photos of of the art, but most of it is available online already.

Excerpt of the Foreward:

Vox Machina was only able to scry on Scanlan once, as seen in the episode Jugs and Rods, but some time after Scanlan warded himself against arcane sight.

The Mantle of the Tempest is described as “eternal autumn leaves.”

Usually the Cobalt Soul has problems researching historical figures for whom there is little written word about...... With Taryon they had the opposite problem: there was too much! lmao. And 90% of it is believed to be embellished or flat out lies.

Nicknames that Taryon gave himself and were never used by anyone ever: “The Winsome Winner of Wildemount,” “Talented Tary,” “Golden-Maned Guardian of Good,” and “The Vindicator.”

Uvenda, the gnome in Vesrah, is still alive!! She’s stepped down as leader now and is the tale-teller of Vesrah.

The Ashari call the kraken that VM fought for Keyleth’s Aremente “Ulugrah the Requisite.”

Uvenda claims that Ulugrah, upon learning that the creatures it had trounced were legendary heroes (I’m assuming they mean Vox Machina), it boasts about it’s victory against them to anyone who will listen any who come to its lair in the Plane of Water.

Tova went by different epithets including: “The Bear,” “Little Half-Ear,” “The Bloody-Handed,” and “The Skin Changer.” After surviving the Hells thanks to Vax’s ring of invisibility, she gained the name “The Unseen Death.”  Little else can be verified about Tova, but none of her friends she went to with Dis survived.

Grey Hunt Lore

Lord Wolf de Rolo and Lady Melanie van Musel de Rolo were the leaders of the 4th reign of Whitestone. It was a political marriage and Melanie was particularly unhappy. She had a garden filled with flora and fauna from her home in Wildemont. The garden is now known as the Widow’s Garden and many of the plants were poisons that she used to slowly assassinate Lord Wolf with.  

After being injured in the Great Whitestone Fire, he couldn’t recover because of the poison and he died leaving Melanie the ruler. She decided to redraw the lines of the city walls, pushing into the Parchwood Timberlands which didn’t go well. Construction was plagued by accidents, animal attacks, and phantoms were reported (such as of Lord Wolf) - though the construction of a Temple of the Dawnfather went unhindered.  

Lady Melanie’s cousin was Ivan van Musel, a cleric, and he declared that Melanie had pissed off the Dawnfather by expanding without showing reverence. Ivan went into the forest after much mediation and was later found battered but alive atop a felled Direwolf.  Ivan had a vision in which the Lawbearer agreed to the expansion no further than where Ivan had felled the Direwolf and that from here on, a citizen of Whitestone must venture into the Parchwood when called to do so and be tested. 

Melanie created the title Grand Master of the Grey Hunt, the third ruling house of Whitestone, for Ivan.  The third house has since forth been in change of the Grey Hunt and managing the city’s relationship with the world beyond the city walls.

Whitestone became a thriving metropolis during VM’s year off - in part because of Allura keeping it safe during Thordak’s reign while everywhere else was ravaged.

Though Tary could be called a fool, a braggart, a coward... in the moment he stood against his father’s selfishness and bigotry and forgave and reconciled with him is described as being more valiant than slaying.

JB Trickfoot continued to work in Whitestone’s library and it’s thanks to many of her notes that the Cobalt Soul has as much as they do on Vox Machina.

“Uh, yes, the very first thing I remember about meeting Vox Machina was when the red-haired lady jumped off a mountain.  It was grisly.  But what I’ll remember forever is what happened afterward.  The coin that Lady Vex’ahlia used, the glow of light, the power.  It brought her back to life.  They really were like gods.”

Taryon’s autobiography’s dedication:  “This book is dedicated to Lawrence.  But it is for my family.”

Taryon thinks his father was actually proud of Tary’s Darrington Brigade.

Tary never liked his father, but after returning home Tary began to love him.

Mariya, Tary’s mom, was part of the Brigade and took care of the injured warriors.

Maryanne, Tary’s sister, became the driving force behind the Darrington Fund charity and even gave up her home for those less fortunate than herself.  When she called Tary “brother” it was no longer an insult.

Tary is most proud that his mother finally has a united family, one to be proud of.

Kaylie Shorthalt talks a bit about Lionel - says he was a goofy son of a bitch. He kept talking to her about ducks though.  He once tried to show her his house, but he just took her to an oasis in the middle of desert that was full of ducks.

The Cobalt Soul doesn’t like to spread rumors but they do have theories of Lionel’s Marquesian mallard heritage.

Aes Adan, aka the Meat Man, rise to power coincided with the disappearance of several low to mid level criminals.

A scholar once went to visit Scanlan to interview him to see if the rumors were true that Scanlan had been the Meat Man.  The Scribe returned, unable to remember anything from his visit.  In his notebook were only crude drawings of ducks.  Scanlan still using that Modify Memory...

The fucking Cobalt Soul knows that Scanlan sacrificed the 9th level spell he was saving for Vax to stop Vecna from leaving.  It’s history folks.

For the folks out there who love the Briarwoods’ love for each other, some of an excerpt of Delilah’s journal:  “No matter the cost, my love, I will do it.  I care not how many must die, or how grave the sins must be that I commit.  I broke the world once for you, Sylas.  I shall do it again, and again, and again, for you.  For us.  Forever.”

Vecna envied the Raven Queen, as her followers did so not just because they feared her, but because they loved and respected her too.

Vecna threatened the assembled protectors of Vasselheim, saying that it would be the perfect place for ambush, but that’s no fun when there are many less-protected loved ones.  People he threatened include Earthbreaker Groon’s daughter (Desir), Vord’s family, J’mon’s concubines, all of Whitestone and particularly Cassandra.  And Young Velora Vessar, “playing alone in her room.”

Kaylie went to school at the Alabaster Lyceum in Emon on Scanlan’s dime.

Pike and Scanlan had a lengthy courtship.

Tary’s book The Daring Trials and Tribulations of Ser Taryon Darrington contained an accurate account of his time with Vox Machina, even if nothing else is accurate.

Grog helped Earthbreaker Groon restore the Temple to the Stormlord while staying Vasselheim, defending his title in the Crucible.

The final, actual words of the book that aren’t a dedication or part of an image:  “And as the story is told: ‘Everyday that raven comes to visit.’” ;’(

There is a stunning four page fold-out page of Percy’s clock tower. I cannot emphasize enough how lovely it is.  The end of it dedicates it to Vex and is quoted with, “I couldn’t have asked for a better dream.”

On the other side of the fold-out are some... sketches of Percy’s notes? It seems that Diplomacy is now powered up by Cabal’s Ruin.
