Oh.

I... I was writing a post about (the nonexistence of) mirror Jake and was thus pondering many aspects of the mirrorverse and I... I think I cracked it. And it's fucking me up. I think I know what the difference between prime and mirror is and it provides more questions than answers.

There is one glaring constant throughout (almost! we'll get to that) all official media (canon or not) that so much as goes near the mirror universe and it's actually the absence of a, well, ...species? that you don't even notice being absent at first but once you do, it's blatant and you can't unsee it.

There are no Q in the mirrorverse. When looking into possible explanations, I actually stumbled upon a highly intriguing fan theory that postulates that the mirrorverse is a control group created by the continuum (which would explain the consistent family lines and stuff SO well!) to see how humanity would fare without their intervention. This is an awesome theory (that also mashes with stuff said in Pic about how there's only one continuum across the multiverse) and I love it but I do actually have another one I'd like to propose.

The one singular reference to a mention of any Q in the mirrorverse that I could find is this short memory beta page on a Q from the mirrorverse (presumably the mirror version of our(/JLP's) Q) having been banished by Terrans "to a prison outside the known dimensions" which, not to speculate, could be interpreted as the prime universe?? (which would mean the mirrorverse is the actual "prime" universe and the Q (or at least our Q) are only in the prime universe as a means of punishment by the Terrans which would also explain why they don't seem to mess with Kelvin timeline (at least not in alpha canon) or anything else outside prime despite Pic saying they could) but regardless has very "god is dead and we have killed him" vibes that I dig. The singular source for this is the 2005 RPG source book Through a Glass, Darkly (belonging to the Decipher iteration of the Star Trek Roleplaying Game) which is specifically set in the mirror universe and, ngl, I kinda wanna play now.

So even tho Pic either states or implies (afaik it's technically said in reference to the Kelvin timeline or something (but you couldn't fucking pay me to watch enough Pic to check) but not specifically about the mirrorverse) that the Q exist in all realities and can jump between them as they wish, and even tho Through a Glass, Darkly is not even remotely canon, especially in comparison to Pic, I want to believe. The mirrorverse is Like That because the humans banished god.

(Also tho, regardless of which (if either) theory is correct, this does imply that not only have the Q not just "observed" humans but their influence on human history has been extremely positive and literally lead to stuff like the Federation even existing?? There are so many implications to the absence of the Q in the mirrorverse, I can't cope with this...)

So I've been running Fangorn's Edge repeatedly trying to pick up Arth-crus because I don't want to spend 20 Mithril on it even though I have 20 Mithril to spare because full outfits in Lalia's Market only cost 50 Mithril for hat, shoulders, shirt, gloves, boots, and sometimes pants so I'm not super eager to spend 20 on just a shirt

Anyway Arth-crus is the light armor chest. I was a little antsy about trying for it on Leonys Prime because she uses medium armor, but Isengard instances don't really check for that so I thought it would be fine. Well, I was right about one thing. Isengard instances absolutely don't check for that

I use medium armor, I'm looking for light armor, and out of the nine times I've run it so far, I have gotten exclusively heavy armor

Rock Bottom AU

A series I started in 2016, abandoned for six years because writers block, and have returned to. I'm working on rewriting the earliest bits to make them better and less cringe. I use this tag for the chapter updates, commissioned art, or just things that really remind me of the AU.

In short, it's an AU where I fixed Ryou's family, gave Seto the Millennium Rod (w/ Priest Seth in it), and made everything else ten times worse. If you like angst, whump, and dark themes, you might enjoy it. I'm going through all six Yugioh anime seasons, currently on Season Three. Please ask me about it, it's my magnum opus. 🙏 But it's over 200k words currently and not everyone's taste, and that's fine. Power of Three (fic)

My Mumbleshipping longfic (also started in 2016, same deal as Rock Bottom). Dedicated to one of my favorite rare pairs (Seto Kaiba x Duke Devlin x Ryou Bakura), it's a little bit of a sandbox and a slow-burn and a soap opera all in one, but unlike Rock Bottom, things only get slightly worse before they get better. 😜 Features a very angsty Kaiba (apparently I don't know how to write any other kind), a Duke that's got his shit together, and a Ryou that's learning to heal and just be happy. ❤️

last song: riot music dropped an absolute flop with their newest band, so i'm currently rewatching the absolutely insane 45 minute long interactive like....live? mo-cap? concert where you could like make dedications in chat and your webcam would appear in the stadium and you could volunteer to kill yourself, stuff like that, it was really campy power metal nonsense and unironically probably the most fun i had during lockdown, i can't recommend it enough (altho i suppose it might be less fun not live). it's like a guitar hero video on acid. pentakill is so weird bc it's a fake band for a game but they put a shitload of money and effort into using real and talented musicians and accidentally made 3 absolutely banger albums that actually got a bit of attention even outside of league fans. they're like gorillaz for people who want to fuck metal band mascots

last film: i finally coerced my mum into watching spirited away, but she has this stubborn knee-jerk dislike of anything animated (she's one of those boomers who call everything animated a "cartoon" in a deliberately condescending way, even tho she like persepolis, arcane, etc), she was "pleasantly surprised".

current/last read: aside from fic, i re-read venus in furs lately. it's generally a shit book but the hold it's held on me.....

currently watching: bf recent informed me he's never seen band of brothers, so it's an obligatory rewatch. unfortunately my bf is one of those people that will put on something to watch and be 100% fully unconcious rem dead to the world asleep on the couch before the title credits have finished.

currently drawing for umbrella academy, shameless and stranger things. first fandom i properly drew for was one direction but i was drawing stuff for like panic at the disco and powerpuff girls and my little pony and my chemical romance when i was like 7

tonnes lol, i’d say every 2-3 pieces i draw gets some kind of negative attention. recently there’s been an asshole in my asks accusing me of fetishising ian and mickey so thats something to look forward to every time i pose 

7. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t drawn for yet but want to?

i want to go back to shows i watched as a kid like total drama island and draw the characters in my art style, i did it with the winx club earlier this year and it was fun. i want to draw harringrove but im not mentally prepared to be like,,,sent death threats atm

yes! @mishervellous​ and i did that amazing comic together for gallacrafts and im so proud of that! also collaborated with a lot of dan and phil artists to make a calendar, a phil is not on fire poster and some general collabs for fun (if anyone wants to collab hmu bc im down)

i really want to draw drummer mickey for some reason

people i guess, maybe like details on clothes and stuff?

im so proud of this drawing even though no one really liked it, like looking at it makes me so happy

like harvey said haha i also use the same colour palette especially skin tones and hair colours also i sketch a lot of the drawings traditionally and then trace over it on photoshop

19. What inspires or motivates you to create for fandom?

myself. i would still be drawing even if no one notices it. heck i draw so much stranger things stuff only for a top of 10 people across instagram, twitter and tumblr to interact with it.

i sit at my desk and use a wacom tablet and my laptop. I have my other laptop open and im normally listening to a tv show that ive seen so i dont have to pay attention or a play through of a game or some creepy stories. sometimes i listen to music on my record player. i always spend ages looking at pose references and rage quitting when i dont draw it right the first time before coming back to it a few hours later. i draw mostly in the evenings, after dinner. sometimes i drink a hot chocolate if its late enough lol.

Intro?

Hi, I'm Hyperion, I'm starting my fifth year of an undergraduate program in physics in the fall, and applying to graduate programs this upcoming cycle! I'm autistic, and physics is my primary special interest, but I also just love science in general, scicomm, books/movies/tv/storytelling/narratives, penguins, and honestly too many other things to attempt to list. I self-describe as an infovore for a reason :) I've been doing rare event neutrino physics research for ~3? years at this point, but it's also taken me into a bunch of different cross-sectional areas, and I find all of them fascinating! If anyone knows how to make a 1x1 germanium square into a necklace pls hmu PLEASE talk to me I'm desperate but I don't often initiate interactions with people unless I've got a very specific question or statement because if any word had to be used to describe me, it's vociferous. But I do really care about listening to what other people have to say, I just sort of have no filter? (Not in a 'I'll be mean to you' way but in a I struggle to be succinct and feel like I've given enough information and context sort of way) Academia needs to be so much better than it is, and it's so sad to see the pursuit of knowledge in the state it's in If you've got any questions about physics or anything I've said or posted, asks or DMs will probably always be open? favorite genre(s):Fantasy by far, though my favorite genres generally tend to change depending on the medium. For live action shows I tend to really like gangster/crime stuff or medical shows (house, m*a*s*h, scrubs). With animated I enjoy fantasy a lot, though I'll dabble a lot in slice of life with anime. With books its basically all fantasy if I'm reading ficition

favorite music: Metal. no question. Specifically power metal but I enjoy other subgenres too. Sabaton is probably my favorite band of all time, combining two of my favorite things; metal and history

favorite series: For books its The Stormlight Archive, and I highly recommend everyone read it, don't be intimidated by its lengths and if you don't mind audiobooks I can help with that hmu. And of course Tolkien's work, that man had an almost magical talent for creating a world its insane. Anime my favorite is Gurren Lagann and its not even close. My Hero Academia, Kill la Kill, Full Metal Alchemist and Vinland Saga are also great. Live action show its M*A*S*H and that's a show everyone should watch. Favorite Manga is Akame Ga Kill and again its not even close. Videogames its the Total War series, Elder Scrolls, Dynasty Warriors (except 9) I really enjoy Borderlands 2 and the souls games as well (except 2), Witcher 3 is also amazing. Favorite movie is the lord of the rings extended edition. OH! I'm also huge into Warhammer

last series: Just got caught up on BNHA with my friends, now taking another one through Vinland Saga

last movie: Puss in Boots and the Last Wish.

currently reading: Just finished The Fall of Constantinople by Steve Runcimen. I listen to/read that once a year around this time.
