FFVII Rare Pair Week - Day 3: Favorite Things

With all that hair, there is no way they are not both really into hair care.

Sephiroth is tasked with babysitting Aerith, and people later joke that it's no wonder he went grey so young.

I know we won't get this scene until part 3, but it also appeared in a blip in The First Soldier trailer in 2021 and I still believe it's confirmation that Professor Hojo shot Professor Gast (in front of Ifalna) which is an additional layer of cruelty.

The original game cut to a black screen because one of the soldiers shot out the security camera, but in the audio these were his last words.

Gast: Ifalna! Take Aerith and run!

What would have changed if Ifalna got over her ick and adopted Sephiroth? Or didn't get over it and still adopted him?

They would have never made it to Elmyra. No need.

Sephiroth would have very gladly killed every last person in the lab if it meant maintaining a comfy nest for his new mom and sister ❤️

FFVII REBIRTH SPOILERS:

I haven't seen anybody talk about this but.

In this continuation, Cid knew Ifalna. And he clearly cared for her - looked up to her? He recounts days when he had just started out at Shinra, and met her and little Aerith. And he is so excited when he asks how Ifalna is doing - and so shocked to hear she is dead. He basically starts hangimg around the group because he wants to help Aerith, because of this

I didn't see this small change coming, but damn, it nearly made me cry to see Cid with eyes all glowing, asking "how is your Mom doing, all good?" and then see Aerith's gaze drop away.

Cid Highwind, an up-and-coming pilot, contracts for Shinra to transport a passenger from the frigid north to their headquarters. Twenty years later, he faces the memory again. ✦ 2k words, one-shot. based on rebirth dialogue, with speculation from the original game

Cid swallows and changes the subject. “Didn’t peg you much for an adventurer, miss. But you must be, eh? Else you wouldn’t be so far north.”

“Adventurer? Maybe adventurous, but no. I’m, ah, a pilgrim.”

“I see! You didn’t strike me as a priestess, either.”

That earns him a laugh. It is sudden and startling to the woman, who quickly covers her mouth out of surprise more so than modesty. She says, voice still warm with laughter, “Shiva is a friend, but she was not whom I was visiting in the north. Why do you ask?”

“Just think you’d make for a good pilot, is all. It’d save you a lot of trouble, relying on dogs like me t’get you places.”

“Hardly, Captain Highwind!”

“Cid’s fine,” he says, grinning.

“Ifalna,” she replies in kind. “And — and Aerith.”

Ifalna gestures to her daughter, who has returned to slumber. Cid salutes. “Mighty fine to make your acquaintance.”

“And yours,” Ifalna says, inclining her head.
