i don't have them for everyone as that would be a lot of names and i've devoted most of that energy to making up hogwarts students, but i have. far more of them than would ever be necessary for this story! bolded the given names i know i made up, entirely possible some of the other ones are fanon. also bolded the dark families. Supernova Family Tree

I got a comment on Supernova, asking for a family tree. it turns out that creating a family tree on a computer is a lot harder than I thought it would be! Also, I went back and forth on ages, so forgive me if the dates don't perfectly line up with canon (I had to change them around for some obvious points, like Pollux and Cygnus becoming fathers at 13 based on JKR's tree).

Hogwarts Years For Various Characters

So, I'm getting a lot of mixed opinions on who went to Hogwarts when. Like all (and I do mean all) the adult characters going to Hogwarts with the Marauders, etc. So, I decided to do some extensive investigative work based on where the characters are in the books and what JKR said about them and their ages. If there's no information, I just looked up the actors who played them, and their ages at the time the movie was released (and when the movie is set). And yes, I will be including Hogwarts Mystery characters. Deal with it.

A few more notes, I find it extremely unlikely that half the OG Order of the Phoenix was made up of newly graduated Hogwarts students. Frank and Alice Longbottom have already made names for themselves as famous aurors by 1981, and it takes 3 years of training to become an auror. Same with Dorcas Meadows (I don't think she was an auror, but she was badass enough to be killed by Voldy personally).

As for Marlene McKinnon, Emmeline Vance, Amelia Bones, Hestia Jones, and Dedulus Diggle...

If Marlene was Lily's best friend and Sirius' lover (or even ex-lover), wouldn't Lily be more emotional about her death and say something like "I'm so sorry about Marlene. I know how much she meant to you."? And wouldn't she have mentioned her by name? "Marlene and her family" instead of "the McKinnons"?

If Emmeline Vance, Hestia Jones, and Dedulus Diggle were friends with Lily and James, wouldn't they (or Remus or Sirius) mention that to Harry? You would think that with all these "friends" of Harry's parents, going to Grimmauld Place would be like "coming home" to him.

Amelia Bones is described as having "grey hair" in OOTP, and the actress who portrayed her was 57 when Deathly Hallows part 1 was released, so she's almost 20 years older than the Marauders.

Ronald Bilius “Ron” Greengrass (née Weasley) (b. 1 March 1980), is a English pure-blood wizard, the sixth and youngest son of Arthur and Molly Weasley (née Prewett). He is the younger brother of William, Charles, Percy, Fred and George, and the elder brother of Ginny. Along with his siblings, he was raised at the Burrow, on the outskirts of Ottery St. Catchpole, Devon.

Ron began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1991 and was sorted into Slytherin House, the first in centuries for both of his parents’ respective families. This resulted in a protracted deterioration of his relationship with his immediate family. He quickly became friends with Tracey Davis, the duo bonding over being the outcasts of their year. Later, the two would befriend cousins Daphne Greengrass and Theodore Nott. Together, the quartet would traverse many adventures together.

After being coerced into taking the Dark Mark, Ron found himself at the forefront of numerous battles and skirmishes in the Second Wizarding War. Some battles included the Attack on Greengrass Manor (1996), Attack on the Bones Family Home (1996), Skirmish at Owler Tor (1997) and the Battle of the Seven Potters (1997). Ron was named prefect in his fifth year at Hogwarts, alongside then girlfriend Daphne Greengrass. 

He skipped his last two years of school to go on the run after being disowned by his family for having the dark mark. He would eventually seek refuge with his great-great aunt Muriel Prewett, who to prove his loyalty to his family, amputated his own arm that had the dark mark. Later, Emmeline Vance—who was rescued by Ron at the Skirmish at Owler Tor—inducted Ron alongside the Greengrass sisters, Muriel Prewett, Percy Weasley, Audrey Honywood, Amelia Bones, Tracey Davis and Theodore Nott into the Order of the Phoenix as secret members.

After they both turned 18 years of age, Ron and Daphne got married on 20 March 1998, in hopes that they could share their love completely should they not survive the war. The wedding was a small affair located at the Prewett Family Home, officiated by his brother Percy and attended by the hidden members of the order. Due to Ron’s thoughts on his disownment, he took Daphne’s name, becoming Ronald Greengrass.

Operating as secret order members, Ron, Daphne, Tracey and Theodore helped escort numerous muggleborn families, squibs and other persecuted folk to seek refuge in magical and non-magical France. He alongside with the order fought in the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998, during which he lost relatives and friends including Astoria Greengrass, Tabby the House Elf, Theodore Nott, Tracey Davis and Emmeline Vance. With Astoria’s death devastating Ron immensely.

For a period of time, Ron was believed to be dead by the public and his family—due to his unknown escape of a blasting curse that Bellatrix Lestrange shot at him—until he was revealed to be alive by Molly Weasley’s Charmed Clock that indicated that he had been moved to St. Mungo’s Hospital to recuperate from his injuries sustained at the Battle of Hogwarts.

After the war, Ron remained in St. Mungo’s for almost three months to recover. He had lost an eye, and had chunks of his left leg that were blasted away from his duel with Bellatrix. Ron reconciled with his family during his time in recovery and was welcomed back into the family. Following his release from St. Mungo’s, he was soon arrested by aurors for being a suspected Death Eater and was sent to Azkaban pending his trial. He was later released after his trial revealed him innocent—thanks to witness accounts by Amelia Bones and memories from Daphne and Percy.

Due to Muriel’s death, in her will, Ron was named the Prewett heir and the legal guardian of his second cousin Mafalda Prewett, whilst she stayed in Britain—Something Ron had come to enjoy. Ron would eventually move into the Prewett Family home with Daphne. He would later take his old Chess mentor’s place as the Mentor and Sponsor of the Hogwarts Chess Club. He would later join his wife in maintaining her family’s Real Estate business. He would also serve a year working as a temporary Professor of Potions at Hogwarts. He and Daphne would later have two children named Astoria II and Nico Greengrass. He was also named the Godfather to his nephew Garett Weasley, his brother’s Fred Weasley’s and Hermione Granger’s eldest child.

Lelouch Black-Lamperouge

Family situation

He was born on December 5, 1969 in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England, son of the pureblood wizard of the prestigious House of Black, Eridanus Nigellus Black, and his wife, Marion Black-Lamperouge, a pureblood witch of French origin. Who, without wishing to renounce her surname, asked that it be preserved along with her husband's surname.

His father, Eridanus, is the only son of the eldest daughter of Arcturus Black III, Lucretia Black, and her husband Ignatius Black, née Prewett, who due to his family's situation had to renounce his surname and take that of his wife to marry her.

Although Lucretia's younger brother, Orion Black, was the one who was originally going to become Lord Black and pass the title on to his own children. The birth of Eridanus on April 4, 1950, nine years before the eldest of Orion's children, Siriurs in 1959, added to the fact that Lucretia was older than Orion, caused the family magic to recognize Eridanus as the Black Heir. This situation soured the relationship between Lucretia and Orion, in part because she refused to abandon her neutral stance on the issue of blood supremacy.

Due to the situation between his mother and his uncle, and his grandfather's favoritism, Eridanus grew up under a lot of pressure as the future head of the family and developed a great need for perfectionism, at the same time great insecurities and a shy and fragile personality, which he learned to hide beneath an expressionless face and a very abrasive character.

His insecurities worsened when due to a close Ravenclaw friend, he came into contact with the Muggle world and became fascinated by it, which increased his conflicting thoughts and fear that he would be burned from the family tapestry if anyone in his family found out.

Shortly after graduating, fearful of which path to take, Eridanus met Marion Lamperouge while secretly watching a Muggle film. She, who moved to England to work in the ministry, quickly recognized him as the Black Heir and quickly decided to befriend him, finding him very entertaining. Eridanus mistook it for a blackmail attempt, but unexpectedly, their subsequent friendship deepened so much that they eventually got married and are still a happy marriage.

Marion Lamperouge is a French witch from a very old pureblood family, the prestigious Blanquefort.

Marion's grandfather is the current head of the family, Robert Blanquefort, who was Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards during 1920 to 1927, and her grandmother, Robert's beloved wife, is Ghislaine, a veela.

While her mother, Victoire Blanquefort, was the youngest daughter of Robert and Ghislaine, her father was Charles Lamperouge, a half-blood wizard who became involved in dark magic and this ultimately led to his and his wife's deaths, as well as that of Victoire's older sister, Félicie, and her husband.

Charles' origin was quite curious. Ten years older than his wife, who became pregnant at age 16 and later brought them into marriage, Charles was the son of Marcel Lamperouge, an orphaned Muggle-born, who lived in France during his early childhood and part of his adolescence, but he ended up moving to England after being expelled for practicing dark magic with classmates, including the Cruciatus spell. He hid all his actions at Hogwarts, where he met Ravenel Gaunt, who would become his wife.

In Britain, Ominis Gaunt would be born in 1875 to Morten Gaunt (older brother of Noctua Gaunt) and Berthilda Yaxley, and would be the younger brother of Marvolo Gaunt, which would make him the uncle of Morfin and Merope Gaunt and great-uncle of Tom Riddle Jr. In 1894, at the age of 19, working as a janitor at the Leaky Cauldron, Omnis would meet by pure luck the gentle and pleasant Columbia Potter, daughter of Herbert and Winona Potter (née Longbottom), with whom he would fall in love and whom he would marry.

Together they would have Ravenel Gaunt, the future wife of Marcel Lamperouge. Which makes Marion's maternal grandmother, and therefore her and her son Lelouch, maternal line descendants of Salazar Slytherin. As proof, Ravenel, his son Charles, his granddaughter Marion and his great-grandson Lelouch are Parselmouths.

Ironically, the birth of Charles (and Marion and Lelouch) would not have occurred in the original timeline. Ominis Gaunt, blind and destitute, was destined to die at age 25, and his meeting with Columbia Potter was planned and manipulated by A.A., as she was a loving and understanding soul who had enough wealth to help Ominis. Likewise, the last name of Marcel, who was abandoned in an orphanage originally was also not Lamperouge and was also changed by them. This entire situation (and Lelouch's status as a Slytherin descendant) was solely created because A.A. They wanted fun, even going so far as to plant the names of Charles, Victoire and Marion in the thoughts of their respective parents as a mockery of Lelouch and his family, based on the names of Charles, Victor and Marianne. At least they weren't cruel enough to suggest names similar to Nunnally and Rollo.

The same thing happened on her paternal side of the family, as originally, Lucretia was sterile and unable to have children, so A.A. He secretly arranged her body to lead to the birth of Eridanus.

BIOGRAPHY:

The day Celeste was born a blizzard had taken over the ground around the estate. Miles upon miles of nothing but purest snow. Howling winds were filling the halls the night the witch came into the world as the child of Leda and Ignatius Travers, uniting the Yaxleys and Travers. Much like the blizzard that been raging and roaring the night she was born, Celeste grew up with a storm inside her; an iciness that would take years upon years to melt only to be replaced by a pride unlike any other. With her parents - her family - making sure that she was raised on their values, there was no room left for the young witch to doubt their words. And surely that’s what she became; a proud creature with ideals and views that left no mercy in her path unless earned. 

The letter came and the hat had no issue sorting the girl into Slytherin. It was with pride that she joined her friends and future companions at the Slytherin table. The dungeon was to become her home soon enough. It was the place she’d grow, an ice queen in her own right at times yet oh so very warm and protective toward those she considered dear to her. Some of those friendships were surely made to last for a lifetime and beyond. 

Celeste was a believer in the purity preached by the Death Eaters and although not carrying the mark, she became a supporter of the cause already during her years at Hogwarts. Many of her years there were spent surrounded by those to eventually carry the mark. Celeste was going to find a way to support the cause; to help them stand their ground in a world filled with people she had no desire seeing around. 

Soon after graduation the young woman began working for the ministry, landing a job with the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and from there on, moving on to become an interrogator for the Wizengamot. It became her sole focus and for a while she chose the life of a hardworking individual over the idea of getting married. Her parents attempted many a time to get her to agree with any of the candidates chosen and yet the young woman felt there was something bigger coming her way. Only the right person would do and so far none of them had been what Celeste had aspired to see in a companion of sorts. If this was to be a union of the benefit for all families involved, it had to be perfect. And so work became her focus, making a name for herself; an interrogator and socialite in her own right. 

It was years later, through her uncle, that Celeste got the chance to rise far above her ranks despite her age. At only twenty three, upon her uncle being voted into the office of minister of magic, the young witch was granted the position of secondary interrogator, only having to answer to her uncle, the head of the department as well as the head of the Wizengamot himself. It was a perfect opportunity to use in order to support the cause.

there's a really funny thing that i had never seen anyone talking about, and it's how some really random characters from harry potter are related. and how it's all because of blacks. phineas nigellus to be exact. 

phineas had 4 sons and one of them was arcturus II. he married lysandra yaxley, who's most likely an aunt to corban yaxley (death eater who imperiused pius thicknesse and head of dmle in dh). they had three daughters (the original black sisters lol) - callidora, cedrella and charis.

callidora married harfang longbottom. she was born in 1915. there is a possibility of her being neville's great-grandmother, but the timeline would be a little bit tight (frank was born somewhere in the 60s, probably around marauders, so his father would have to be around 1935). it is indeed possible, but she could also be just neville's aunt. if the first option is correct, then neville is blood related to blacks, if not then he's distantly related through marriage.

next daughter is cedrella who was disowned for marrying a blood traitor septimus weasley (which is an interesting thing i also want to discuss). and yes, she's the mother of arthur and his siblings. which makes a possibility of neville and ron being actual cousins. 

the last one is charis black who married caspar crouch. looking at the timeline (she was born in 1919) and the fact that she's stated to have one son and two daughters, most likely barty crouch senior is her son. which makes barty crouch jnr her grandson.

so, arthur and corban are cousins, barty and arthur are cousins and there's 50% chance barty cruciatused his own cousin and 50% chance for his distant relative. and the same chances go for bellatrix cruciatusing frank. and bella and barty are cousins too. and arthur fought his cousin's husband.

also, ernie macmillan is blood related to sirius and regulus black - their grandmother is melania macmillan, most likely ernie's aunt.

and marcus flint, millicent bulstrode, vincent crabbe are all cousins to draco. ursula flint is phineas' wife. that makes marcus related to most of blacks. ursula's son cygnus II married violetta bulstrode, making millicent related to blacks. violetta's son pollux married irma crabbe, making vincent related to blacks. and pollux's granddaughter narcissa married lucius malfoy making draco related to blacks. so yeah, draco watched his cousin's death). and it makes three of them distantly related through marriage.

arthur and molly are interesting case. arthur's mom is black. we know that molly is prewett, but prewetts are related to blacks - ignatius prewett married lucretia black (orion's sister). ignatius is also percy's second name. they are either cousins or just related through marriage as lucretia and ignatius could be molly's uncle and aunt.

and i think this fandom has serious problem with understanding the difference between being blood related and related through marriage. being blood related is when two people have one the same ancestor. the example is draco and ron (and any of weasleys sibling) - phineas nigellus is great great-grandfather of ron and great great great-grandfather of draco. they come from the same person. being related through marriage is when aunt/uncle/cousin marries someone else's aunt/uncle/cousin. it does not make you related to them as you aren't related to your aunt's husband or whatever. for example: draco and harry. dorea black is pollux black's sister (draco's great-grandfather). he is blood related to her but he isn't blood related to her husband charlus potter. same for harry; charlus is either fleamont's cousin or brother. he is blood related to him but he isn't blood related to dorea. it's really funny because in real life no one cares about that and those people usually meet only at the wedding. but in wizarding world apparently is an important thing. "all wizarding families are related" does not mean they are all blood related, they are not everyone's actual cousins. they are all distantly related through marriage, they do not share any percentage of dna. so no, hinny and drarry are not cousins. 

it's really funny because if you all care so much that drarry and hinny are related, then can we talk about the fact that harry is related to salazar slytherin the same way?

harry is a descendant of ignotus peverell. his brother cadmus is an ancestor of voldemort, making our two enemies cousins. it also makes harry blood related (very distantly but still) to merope, morfin, marvolo. also, isolt sayre (founder of ilvermorny) is also harry's cousin - her mother is rionach gaunt. but gaunts were originally only slytherin's descendants, they at some point married peverells (but i'm sure it was still before isolt was born), so it does make harry (and rest of the potters) distantly related through marriage to salazar slytherin.

and i find it hilarious.

The Prewetts and the Blacks

We know that pretty much all pureblood families are related. But obviously some are more closely related than others. How exactly are the Prewett and Black families related.

The short answer is, they aren’t that closely related.

The only Black to marry into the Prewett family, that we know of, is Lucretia Black. Lucretia was born in 1925 to Arcturus Black III and Melania Macmillan and was the older sister of Orion Black. At some point, she married Ignatius Prewett. We can safely assume that Ignatius and Lucretia were not the parents of Molly, Fabian, and Gideon since Molly and Sirius are only cousins by marriage, and any children that Lucretia had would be Sirius’ first cousin by blood.

So there actually aren’t any Blacks that were related by blood to the Prewetts. Ignatius Prewett is related to several Blacks, by marriage. If he and Lucretia had children, then they would have been related to the Black family by blood.

So where does the “cousins by marriage” come from? The answer, of course, is Arthur. I always found it odd Sirius specified that he was Molly’s cousin by marriage when he is more closely related to Arthur, but whatever.

Arthur is the third son of Septimus Weasley and Cedrella Black. Cedrella was the middle daughter of Arcturus Black II and Lysandra Yaxley. She was born sometime between 1915 and 1919, and was disowned when she married Septimus. Cedrella was a first cousin of Arcturus III. Arcutus was the grandfather of Sirius and Regulas. Therefore, Cedrella was Sirius’ first cousin twice removed, making her sons Sirius’ second cousins once removed.

And that’s how the Prewetts and the Blacks (and the Weasleys) are related.

Of course, Molly could have been both a first cousin and a second cousin once removed of Sirius, but I assume he would have called her his cousin if that were the case, as it’s a closer relation. Sirius’ grandparents were first cousins, making them both his first cousins twice removed, but he wouldn’t have gone around referring to them as that.

Supernova Family Tree

I got a comment on Supernova asking for a family tree. I couldn't include everyone, but this is a good start for the central characters of the story. In this AU, the timeline changes where I swap Andromeda for Alphard. I messed around with some of the other birth dates for the Black family tree, esp. Cygnus and Pollux.

Please note that I had to change quite a few dates - JKR is bad at math (among other things) - and I had to shift around a lot of the older Black generations, because the Black Family Tree in the HP Lexicon shows Pollux and Cygnus both having their children when they're 13 years old. My dates are reflected to change both the AU and having more reasonable birthdays for people to become parents. I'll draw or make a proper family tree sometime - the best I've got is scribbles on a piece of paper! These dates can be found in the notes for chapter 2.

The Second Wizarding War was over and 12 Grimmuald Place was once again an empty shell.

When Harry and company returned to the house Walburga Black's portrait was on the floor the frame cracked and her face from the neck down had completely been "blacked out." It was as if she had clawed out her own face.

No sound came from the former matriarch of the Noble and Most Ancient House Black.  It was a eerie and ghastly sight.

"Didn't Sirius say a permanent sticking charm was placed on it?" Ron pointed.

Hermione turned the painting on the back and examined it.

"Let's get it out of here" said Harry.

"Agreed."

Ginny traced outlining of the frame. "Something feels different about the house."

She looked at the family tapestry and there was a letter on the table next to it.

Weeks earlier....

Several cloaked hooded figures stood in the entrance way of 12 Grimmauld Place.

Walburga Black's portrait screams and sobs echoed throughout the house. The house-elf Kreacher was no where in sight to comfort his mistress.

Portraits came from the near and far corners of Grimmuald Place. Whispers soon reached paintings of family members that were elsewhere in Britain.

She continued to bawl, clawing and tearing at her face.

"Hush girl! These are the consequences of your depraved actions!"

Phineas Nigellus Black bellowed. The former patriarch of the Black family held expression of contempt and disgust at his great-granddaughter.

Walburga's grandfather Pollux, father Cygnus II, youngest brother Cygnus III, and cousin/husband Orion stared in horror.

Walburga's mother Irma Crabbe and cousin Charis Black rushed to restrain her.

Phoebe and Elladora Black began to laugh hysterically and wail as well.

Her younger brother Alphard and cousin/sister-in-law Lucretia Black never took their eyes off her.

Melania Macmillan swept up her grandsons Sirius and Regulus in her arms, Ignatius Prewett shielded them from their mother's sight. A faint smile graced Melania lips.

Walburga's grandmother Violetta Bulstrode and great-grandmother Ursula held no emotion.

Magenta Tripe, Arcturus III, Lycoris, and Sirius II, and Dorea Black looked at her with contempt.

Walburga's sister in-law Druella Rosier gathered her own children. Narcissa hugged Andromeda tight silently crying into her. The eldest, Bellatrix broke free and ran towards Phoebe and Elladora laughing.

Lysandra Yaxley and Herbert Burke covered their ears, Belvina and Arcturus Black ll closed their eyes and turned away.

Hesper Gamp, Ella Max, Harfang Longbottom, Licorus, Callidora, and Regulus II Black shook their heads in commiseration.

Cedrella, Marius and Phineas Il began to sing.

" The stars shine brightest, boldly and beautifully bathed in a pure sky."

"House of Back has long forgotten themselves and became voids of misery and contrite."

The cloaked figure stepped forward and hit their fist against the wall.

Walburga's portrait fell flat on the floor with a simple thud.

"Enough out of you. Shut up."

Misapinoa Blishwick (née Black) portrait looked at the mysterious figures.

"Is that you dear niece?"

The person in question removed their hood.

It was revealed to be Iola Black. One of the earliest members of their family. The daughter of Cygnus I and Ella Max.

The youngest sibling of Sirius I, Phineas Nigellus, and Elladora Black.

In 1870 she had been blasted of the family tapestry by her older sister Elladora for marrying a muggle of African descent known as Bob Hitchens. Iola's husband was the only Muggle to ever step foot into the house.

"It is aunt Misa."

At her unveiling her sister Elladora screeched.

Phineas did you know she was here!?" Elladora's eyes bulged.

Her brother Phineas Nigellus inhaled deeply, and nodded towards Iola in acknowledgement, but remained silent to Ella's questions.

Iola's eldest brother Sirius looked at her curiously, smiled and gave a small wave. He had passed away at the age of eight before Iola was born. He was the first in the family to be named after the Dog Star.

She stood before the portraits of her relatives. Many gawked in bewilderment. Iola Black - now Iola Hitchens was very much alive and well.

"When I left the this place was in shambles now it's worse off. What a pity. "She feigned a look of hurt."

Ursula Black laughed. "Your sense of humor never failed to impress me. Nice to see you again Iola."

"Likewise," Iola winked at her former sister-in-law.

"Momma did you really you live here as a child?" Another person took off their hood.

" It wasn't his drab looking but yes once upon a time."

Misapinoa and her husband Jimbo greeted them warmly.

"Oh where are my manners. Aunt Misa, Uncle Jimbo, Ursula these are my children."

"Eridanus, Tucana, Vega, Pavo, and Alcyone.

"And this is my granddaughter Taygeta Zavijava one of my many grandchildren. I assume You've met her already Phineas?"

Phineas Nigellus slowly nodded. At Hogwarts his grand-niece used an alias. Known as "Tracey Davis" a student in Slytherin House.

The former patriarch of House Black and headmaster of Hogwarts cleared his throat.

"I'm a glad to see you survived the battle." The battle he was referring to was Battle of Hogwarts which had taken place weeks earlier.

"I bet you are." Taygeta rolled her eyes and stuck out her tongue at her grand-uncle.

Phineas II, Sirius III, Lycoris, and Alphard sniggered.

Iola eldest's brother Sirius motion toward his youngest sister.

"Iola?"

"Yes?"

"Your children are metamorphagi like Lexi, Eddy and I?

Metamorphagi were wix who could morph at will. It was an inheritable trait among members of of the House of Black.

Lexi and Eddy were the siblings Alexia Walkin and Eduardus Limette Black.

Eduardus was the first and earliest member to be blasted of the family tapestry by his elder sister Phoebe.

Alexia and Eduardus stepped forward alongside Sirius I.

"Ah yes! Pavo and Alcyone are."

Elladora moved into the painting with Irma who quickly stepped aside. The latter was currently studying her daughter's portrait that laid on the floor.

She sneered and pointed a sharp finger at Iola.

"I knew you would eventually come groveling back. Elladora cackled. 

'Shameful Blood Traitors usually are full regrets" Phoebe chimed in.

"Have they gone mad?"

"Enough Phoebe it is over!" Licorus bellowed.

Aunt Ella!" Belvina huffed.

"God's don't you tire of ranting?"

Phineas Nigellus turned his back.

"What gives you the right to decide who is shameful? All of this started because you could not accept the inevitable Phoebe?" Alexia stood firm.

Misapinoa clicked her tongue.

Phineas Nigellus turned his back.

Eduardus strided across and grabbed Phoebe hand.

"Let go of me you filth blood traitor!"

"Let go traitor!"

"Let go Eduardus!

"She began to sob hysterically ."Let go Eddy"

"Phoebe stop."

Iola followed suit and calmly walked up to her older sister’s portrait.

Elladora whimpered and shrank back.

“Ella, I am free. Free of this elitist, hereditary bigoted institution. You and Phineas upheld and clung to it for decades and it has left this family as an empty void.” A true black hole."

Iola gently touch the scorched marks of the Black Family’s tapestry. “Regrets? My only regret is that the younger generations of this family suffered for it.”

eastern squad offices, before scotland mission, @ignatiusyaxley​

It was hard to describe just how it felt after walking into the downright gloomy offices of MACUSA’s Central Squad, and seeing among the cloud of strange faces one that wasn’t so strange at all. Ignatius Yaxley, she couldn’t help the small bark of laughter that escaped her as her eyes fell on his familiar features. She’d heard the rumors of course, who hadn’t really. That Ignatius Yaxley, son and heir to the infamous Corban Yaxley, had run off, completely shirking his duties as a proper pureblood boy, to do merlin knows what. Just what happened to him and where he went to came with its own set of rumors. There was the story his father told, that he’d gone missing on a case, but no one believed that one. Then some said he’d left to go form his own little Death Eater clan across the ocean- that one Miranda knew was a lie. Others said he’d met some pretty little thing, with whom he’d quite properly knocked up- and left for greener pastures to raise the little tyke. That almost sounded just as bizarre as the first, but perhaps more Ignatius. Or at least the Ignatius she’d known once upon a time.

None of that probably mattered much now though. Whatever happened to Ignatius after he left home, was no more her business than what had happened to her. Both of them were victims of circumstance, and were going to have to find a way to navigate around one another. Especially after she receives her first case that morning, his name neatly typed above her’s. It was about a squid in some lake that everyone was surprised about for some reason- was that not normal for lakes? Hogwarts had one after all, and surely if it was a problem they’d have removed it from the place that housed hundreds of young school children. 

No matter though, it was her first case, and she was going to damn well solve the thing. Not without the proper outfit though, of course. Apparating back to her small apartment in Port Steward, she lays out a small collection of outfits, she planned on changing in and out of for the occasion. The first is an utterly adorable white jumpsuit, which she charmed to look more naval in aesthetic. The little brass buttons bore the squid they were out to find, and her stilettos were charmed to keep her feet dry, no matter how mucky the shores of Lake Super (or whatever it’s name was) were. The hat is more just for fun, an old thing she’d kept from Bertie’s yacht, but felt appropriate for the occasion. 

When she’s back at the office, she struts over to Ignatius’s desk, and plops herself onto it as she grins down at him. “Why hello, darling,” she smirks, as she crosses one leg over the other, making a little home for herself on his desk, “fancy seeing you around here, I must say.” 

“Not to worry though, your little secret is safe with me.”

He had considered not even going into work. One day off didn’t feel fair, when he and Cass had been put through so much for a week, and then ended things even worse off than it had all started. Hell, once he had gotten out of the hospital, had made it back home, hugged Emerson and Tide, once Tide has filled him in on the news, he had genuinely just considered never going back to work ever again. Maybe move to Canada or something with Emmy, dropping Yaxley entirely, finally, maybe living like a muggle family, like his father had assumed he would’ve been doing anyway. But that would just be more cowardice, and he couldn’t stand the thought of giving the world one more thing to prove that he was just that, a coward.

So Ignatius comes in late, hoping maybe he’d be a little better prepared for it all, despite the ache in his bones, and in his head that just wouldn’t go away. And, of course, he’s not. He hasn’t been able to sleep since getting back, even with Emmy clingy, cuddling up next to him, and he hasn’t been able to wrap his head around Judith Eames asking him to do this, and then refusing to be honest, when it all comes out. Paranoia makes him wonder if she planned all of it, the ambush, planned not to have any of them come back, paranoia makes him wonder if he’s reading into it all.

And that’s without worrying about himself. Because there’s no defense here, if Eames is going to keep saying she didn’t do this. Where the fuck does that leave him? He’d joked with Marleigh about MACUSA needing to pay for therapy, but now he’s wondering if they’ll pay for legal defense, or if Eden can still do pro bono work even if they’re disbarred. He walks into the office, doesn’t even make it to his bloody desk, before an unfamiliar ginger comes towards him.

“Let me guess, I’m in big trouble, and you’ve got a few questions for me.”
