Was tagged by @missroserose (thanks!) and BOY am I bad at reading books these days, so this kinda made me feel bad. (i'm not counting fanfics in this, even though I have several of those printed in book form)

1) The Last book I read:

"Sovande jättar", "Gudarna vaknar" and "Bara människa" (it's a triology) by Silvain Neuvel. (in English: "Sleeping Giants", Waking Gods" and "Only Human")

2) A book I recommend:

"The flat share" by Beth O'Leary for some light reading and feelgood feels. It's so cute!

3) A book that I couldn’t put down:

"The Martian" by Andy Weir. I literally got late back to work from my lunch break because I Had To Finish It.

4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):

I mean, lots of them. If I have a favorite, I will return to it like I would an old friend. To mention a few, "Grottbjörnens folk" by Jean M. Auel (English: "Clan of the cave bear") and the follow-up, "Hästarnas dal" (English: "Valley of the horses", I think) because I'm a sucker for someone just ... surviving and thriving. "Dimestore magic" and "Bitten" by Kelley Armstrong. Trilogin om Frihetskrigen (The Freedom War Triology?) by Niklas Krog. "Vingmästarens dotter" by Bertil Mårtensson. And of couse "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

5) A book on my TBR:

"Runaway Max" by Brenna Yovanoff. One of these days, I'll get to it ... at least the Billy scenes, lol

6) A book I’ve put down:

"Call Me by Your Name" by André Aciman. I didn't actually put it down because I was determined to finish it, but it was a struggle. I'm sure it is very good, but for someone who isn't into a) romance or b) sex, there just wasn't that much else for me to latch onto in that book. Not much ... plot.

7) A book on my wish list:

Gregory Crewdson, "Eveningside 2012-2022", but I've been hesitant to buy it so far because I can't rationalize spending that much on a book. But listen, he is a fantastic photographer and I've loved his work ever since I first saw a documentary about him on TV, ages ago.

8) A favorite book from childhood:

"Skattsökarna" by E. Nesbit (in English: "The Story of the Treasure Seekers"). Man I did NOT know what all those currency meant when I was a kid but it seemed FANTASTIC to have that many friends and adventures. <3

9) A book you would give to a friend:

"I'm with stupid" by Gene Weingarten and Gina Barreca. It was a fun and eye-opening book, lol (that is actually due for a re-read soon).

10) A book of Poetry or Lyrics you own:

"Complete poems" by Dorothy Parker. I have read the whole thing and I love her. I love Dorothy's poetry. So witty, so RHYMING.

11) A nonfiction book you own:

"Saxat ur Starlet" by Kristina Öhman. It has me ROLLING laughing. Starlet was a comic that I read a lot when I was a kid, and this book has taken random images from those comics and added commentary, and it is HIL-AR-IOUS.

12) What are you currently reading:

Nothing that ain't fanfics, baby.

13) What are you planning on reading next?

Book-wise? I don't know.

In the beginning, when Neil still wanted her to call him Dad, she tried to imagine it. Neil as her dad, Billy as her brother. Billy with ginger hair, mullet shining bright orange in the light of the sunset.

But there Billy was, all blond and cold. Telling her that she isn’t his sister - which is fine. He isn’t her brother either. They didn’t want this, added by accident to the picture of a family her mother was trying to paint. It’s all blurry and wrong, because she saw them through a bright pink, but the reality is never that.

Sometimes I really kind of envy you native English speakers who make writing and posting fics seem so fucking easy. With near perfect grammar and hardly any typos. Or those of you who are capable of writing & updating your fics whenever the muse hits you just right... and not like, once in six months. Actually, try two years lol.

Either one is great! This card especially is more designed with AO3 in mind, but some can be adjusted to suit tumblr as well, so I say go for it. Tumblr fics deserve love, too.

Can one comment count toward multiple squares if the fic fits more than one category?

Since the goal is for as many fics to receive comments as possible, try to comment on a different fic for each square.

Is there a time limit?

Nope! Take your time or set your own deadline, whatever works for you.

Do I have to record progress on the actual card?

Nope! If it’s easier to keep track in a different way, that’s fine. This is all very honor system, so if you say you earned a Bingo, we’ll call it a win 🎉

Some people have been tracking not just completed tasks, but the fics they read along the way, so that when they post a bingo, they can also promote the fics/authors in a little rec list. Not required, but definitely cool to see!

Can I adjust the task in a particular square to suit my comfort level?

so, i have to just take a moment and let y’all know how in absolute AWE i am because @ihni had my @bigbangharringrove fic turned into a BOOK!! a book!! 😭🤍 i still can’t wrap my head around the fact that someone would enjoy my fic so much that they’d have it printed into something they can put on a shelf and show off!

i’m beyond touched and feel so incredibly proud!! this is monumental tbh and i feel so honoured 🤍 ihni shared pics of the final product w me and i’d love to share them all w you 🥹

Billy and character - The bee's knees by Thei @ihni I absolutely LOVE this fic, like it is just truly fantastic writing. I think I read it on a monthly average I love it that much. Every time I see a newspaper I think of this fic. I love the boys in this one, older and wiser(?) but still loveable little menaces! It’s so delightfully funny I giggle myself into a mess every single time I read it. It’s just pure fun, good writing and brings me a whole lot of joy to read.

Billy being an asshole - Rattlesnake by hagraven_gf Famous singer Steve ft oblivious out of touch Billy. Just recently subscribed to this one and I’m having so much fun reading it. Fake/pretend relationship to try and cover up the mess that is Steve’s life. However at the time of reading it is verrry much teetering into something that I can feel being explosive, sexy and maybe a little bit angsty. I can’t wait! Bonus Billy in a band. BILLY IN A BAND!

AU - moonflower, mine by bigdumbbambieyes @bigdumbbambieyes Regency Era Harringrove? Yes please to all of that. This fic is so good, soo good. I remember getting little teasers on tumblr and I was so excited to finally read it so when I did my brain melted a little bit. It then went on to completely exceed my expectations and blew me away. The language and the setting and everything is so on point you get sucked right into this little world. Ft soft boys with their ‘friends’ ringlet tucked tight in his monogrammed handkerchief?!?! You are killing me with the sweet pure love that is this fic.

last year i did 'reverse trick-or-treat' where i dropped some art of billy in different halloween costumes in the asks of some mututals and blogs i followed in the billy/harringrove community. i wanted to do that sort of thing again this year, especially since there has been such an amazing increase of fandom positivity, mainly led by @intothedysphoria who we all love.

He should have known that she noticed. There is always a plate with food for him in the fridge when he comes home, late enough to be sure, they’re already asleep. 

It’s not even a plate with leftovers. It's part of the meal she cooked for them. The first time Billy saw it, he didn’t touch it. Only when she asked him if he didn’t like it, he realized it was meant for him. Not a coincidence, not a trap. Kindness on a plate, served by Joyce for him. He cried himself to sleep that night like a toddler, muffling his sobs with a pillow.

My second fanfiction binding project: Of cats and men, a stranger things fanfiction.

The wonderfully talented @ihni who writes the most amazing Harringrove stories (honestly, whenever I get an alert that a new chapter is up, my day is made) wrote this one and it’s so great! All of you who like Harringrove and would love to read a story about Billy with little kittens, should totally check it out (if you don’t already know it). It’s super cute and heartbreaking and sweet.

I had a few different ideas how I wanted the book to look, but in the end I liked this really simple design best.

I made some artworks for the dust jacket but right now I don’t really like any of them. But I drew a few of the photos mentioned in the story and put them in the book. Right now it’s only Billy and kittens, but I plan to draw Steve with kittens too.

I've wanted to commission art for @fizzigigsimmer's fic He Who Holds the Devil (Harringrove Hannibal AU of my dreams) for ages and ages and ran the idea by @ihni a couple weeks ago who proceeded to create this masterpiece as a gift to gift to Fizzi 😭 Just a whole sequence of sneaky gifting.

But just LOOK at this!!! I'm still in slack-jawed awe. STEVE SWIMMING IN BILLY-SHARK INFESTED WATERS 🤩 Thank you thank you @ihni you're amazing 💛

Read the scene below:

Hargrove holds his stare and repeats slowly, “You do process it. Things the rest of us can barely even get a sense of, right?” 

Across the table, Hargrove has started to change yet again. The light of admiration washes over him in colors of pale yellow and sweet cream, until he shimmers—like Steve is viewing him from behind the glass at the aquarium. It’s stunning.

Steve swallows hard, and it takes him a deliberate moment to blink his eyes slowly and push the vision away. An uncomfortable heat prickles in his chest, discomforted with the evidence of the other man’s admiration of something he himself can only see as flawed. He doesn’t know what to do with it. [...]

The pink tip of Hargrove’s tongue appears in the corner of his mouth as he considers Steve with that probing gaze. He swaths a slick trail over his bottom lip, dark pupils dilating. Steve looks him in the eye, just for a moment, just for a taste, and sees blue lightning crackle within their depths.  

He inhales quick and soft as swirls of blue fill the room, transforming into waves. They push at the walls, breaking the diner around him like it’s made of matchsticks, obliterating it from existence. A wave crashes over his head, and Steve barely has time to gulp in a breath before he’s thrust down into the water. 

His heart pounds heavy and fast in his chest as he fights to swim toward the surface, but his movements slow when he senses that he is not alone in the depths. Turning slowly, he sees a dark shape in the water, growing larger as it swims towards him—recognizes the graceful sway of its body before it comes fully into view. Steve goes still, the surface forgotten. 

It’s a sandbar shark, colossal in size—king of its kind. It glides towards him, turning its long powerful body as it makes a wide arc and begins to circle. The meaning is clear: somewhere in the depths of Billy Hargrove a predator lurks, and Steve is in its sights. 

He’s gone too deep. He should be fighting to get back to the surface, back to himself, but that’s not the job. Steve doesn’t fight the pull of Hargrove’s mind. He forces his muscles to relax. His heart begins to slow. He kicks his feet and delves deeper.  

As he swims down into the deep blue the shark is never far, sometimes gliding just below or above in a lazy orbit. Despite Steve’s initial fear, it seems in no hurry to harm him, and he takes advantage of their silent truce to admire the impressive length of its body and smooth bronzy skin.  

What a beauty you are.

New Ask Game for Writers 🪷

I had to do SO much research for moonflower, mine for the HGBB I did last year, but that made it so much fun to write!! It was such a healthy little challenge for me to write in the regency era as I had never done it before, but I'm really proud of it and I'm glad other people are enjoying it, too 🥹 I even made this fake book cover for it:

I've always loved the angsty self-sacrificing older sibling trope in Jane Austen's works and thought Billy would be a perfect fit for that, so that's why he's always torturing himself with his own conflicting emotions in this fic lol and I believe that Steve is the perfect gentleman for the regency era 🥹 with his fluffy hair and all of his charisma?? c'mon! he's perfect for Billy in every universe, but especially this one 🥰

I also love a slow unfolding of emotions (both when I read and write fics) so I really wanted them to have that in this, and I think I did pretty good with that! And a grand love confession is sooo needed in regency fics, and I'll admit I did stress over it more than anything else in the fic knjdfjg I spent MONTHS thinking about how to word everything, how to have Steve express himself, how Billy would react, etc. and I think I pulled it off 🥹

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE writing Max and Billy's relationship!! in this fic, I really wanted to give a sense that they have grown to love each other as siblings and that's where we meet them in the beginning, and that love they share doesn't falter even with their hardships regarding Max's autonomy and future. It was very different in comparison to them in my WIP within me, an invincible summer, where I'm building their relationship from the ground up, and it's such a rewarding thing for me to do for myself. If the Duffers didn't want to give them that chance to be real siblings, then dammit, I will!! lol

I also loved the 'voice' that regency has!! I watched a lot of movies during my research lol I wanted to get as close as I could to their speech pattern without it coming off as too much, if that makes sense. I wanted the fic to be an easy and enjoyable read but also wanted that voice! I think I did pretty good!

anyways, that was a long way of me saying that this fic was a joy to write and I think you should read it if you haven't yet!! the Harringrove fandom doesn't have a ton of regency aus but I'm glad mine is one of the few y'all can enjoy 🥹
