I think people underestimate Milluki and Illumi's relationship; I mean he was Illumi first brother, they grew up closer in age than everyone and he is an adult as well!
Illumi would probably go to him to talk about his feelings & what should he do has well as trust each other!
I love to think that Illumi probably would have been so taken with love with his first baby brother! He would think that Chubby baby Millu is extremely adorable and must be (over)protected!!
Illumi was definitely part of the reason why Milluki is more spoiled rotten then the others 👀

Illumi HCs I feel No One Else Has
Tumblr media
(btw why does it look like he's about to put in work on a bi- nvm 💀)
Illumi is deffo either a genius or really good at hiding the fact that he has zero thoughts behind his eyes-
has a rock hyper fixation (istg he's a literal penguin give him a pebble and he'll be satisfied)
when he's in a silly goofy mood, he's in a silly goofy mood and there's no limit to the number of shenanigans he'll get into
He's definitely pulled some of the wildest pranks you've ever seen when he feels like it
He's a biter. That's it, he will definitely nibble on you when cuddling (and will bite at random times simply bc he could).
Will sit in your lap when he wants your full attention.
Has no gauge of his strength bc he's always around strong mfs
Therefore, him getting his licks back are horrendous-
Ass or boobs? Thighs. He's a thigh man for sure (but yeah ass too lol)
Will and has used common phrases you say to relate more to you so expect random slang terms
Is a fashion icon with zero filter so expect heavy criticism "There's no way you'll be seen with me looking like... whatever that is." "You tacky little shit- Go change immediately." "I've never wanted to kms, but your outfits are making me reconsider..."
Has a potty mouth and has definitely called both Hisoka and Chrollo "bitch", "fuck boy", and "hoe" on several occasions
Is the perfect driver but prefers to drive like a bat outta hell for the aesthetic (also bc he and the speed limit don't see eye to eye)
Will sometimes grin and release a little bloodlust to spook you
Is very babygirl and girly pop but hates it when you call him either of those.
When he's away on longer missions, he'll horde gifts he's bought for you to have unboxing days when he gets back
Keeps his nails long bc he likes the look (manipulates them to be shorter for... extracurricular activities 😉)
Color coordinates your outfits when y'all go out so everyone knows you're with him
Not big on PDA but won't let you out of his grip when behind closed doors
Is INCREDIBLY touched starved and has to have a hand on you when you nap together (mostly your chest and crotch idk why idk idk idk)
Remember when I said he was an ass man? And when I said he doesn't know his strength? Yeah, he'll smack your ass and damn near send you flying AND THE MF FINDS YOUR PAIN FUNNY
Most definitely a sadist. End of discussion.
Has broken several beds of yours during extracurricular activities.
Favorite petnames for you: wife, my love, liege, little thing.
Favorite petnames from you: pretty boy, lover boy, doll, honey.
Often when you think he's staring he's actually thinking about the most random shit known to mankind-

i firmly believe that illumi is not deserving of a redemption: not only because what hes done thus far is beyond redemption, but i also believe it would not make sense for his character.
i also feel as though it wouldnt make sense for killuas character either. killuas whole journey throughout the story is centered around self worth, and to have him outright forgive illumi, one of if not the biggest motivator as to why said worth was absent to begin with, would flush all of killuas personal growth down the drain.
yes illumi was most likely abused himself if not more than his siblings, but abuse is abuse. he had the choice of breaking the cycle but chose not to. killua did. i feel that redeeming illumi would be a huge punch in the face to actual abuse victims, and i dont think a message like that would be good to portray.
just like how i think silva and kikyo shouldnt be redeemed either, considering that theyre most likely the main driving forces as to why the family dynamics are so fucked up. and even if in his eyes, why illumi does the things he does isnt classified as abuse but more so benefiting the family and kil, its still abuse at the end of the day, and this only further proves how warped his perspective and perception of how and why he does what he does and has done is. the dude’s too far gone.
instead i think they should expand more into not only his backstory but his emotions and outlook on the world, such as his relationships with his family, most predominantly killua, and even with hisoka. for example, (minor bojack horseman spoiler up ahead) the way bjhm treated beatrice and her backstory: they portrayed it in such a way where they werent excusing her actions, but as a way of explaining why she was the way she was and how she became the person that she was, while also sharing a tender moment between her and bojack before she passed (which is in reference to the nursing home btw not the icu LOL).
i feel like if we were to get an illumi arc (togashi i am on my knees) they should go down that route instead of a full blown redemption. because not only does illumi not deserve that, killua doesnt either. he does not need someone like that in his life whether illu has changed or not. because the damage has already been done.

okay 2 questions....
do you think its more likely that illumi kills hisoka or hisoka kills illumi and how do you think it will go down?
what would you WANT to happen with one of their actual deaths?
You're not really going to like my answer here because it completely negates both questions.
I don't think either of them will die or kill each other.
I think it's natural to think so considering the current setting of the arc and what was revealed and their characters, but how I see it, their relationship has proven to be very nonsituational. As in, they aren't really hanging out and helping each other just because they happen to need each other here and there. They hang out and help each other because they unironically see each other as friends.
Illumi had no reason to help Hisoka out in the hunter exam, yet he did anyways. And they stayed together most of the time. Illumi had no reason to help Hisoka out during the yorknew dilemma, yet he did anyways. It's not even in his area of work to just disguise as people for a few hours before leaving. He's an assassin. Hisoka didn't have to help Illumi out during the election arc, Illumi was more than capable of finishing this entire mission alone. And yet he did anyways.
Goes without saying that Hisoka constantly calls Illumi his friend behind his back and also did so in front of him, and Illumi made no move to correct him.
So I can't really imagine, with all this said and done, that they'd actually have a reason to hunt and kill each other on the black whale. I understand the doubts with the stuff Illumi said in their marriage chapter but im still much more inclined to believe theyre working together against the troupe, as that would make much more sense. They've done nothing but work together against everyone in the entire anime and both Illumi and Kalluto worked against the troupe with Hisoka in yorknew after all.
I also feel like this is a general Hisoka misconception but-- Hisoka doesn't want to die. I feel like people think he hired Illumi to "hunt him down" because he wants Illumi to actually kill him and I have to disagree. Yes, it does speak volumes about what Hisoka thinks of Illumi, as in he truly is capable of killing him because theyre equals. But does Hisoka actually want Illumi to kill him right now? Negative.
Some people even say Hisoka has always wanted to go out in a huge fight or whatever-- I genuinely have no idea where tf they get that from lol. Hisoka brought himself back to life for a reason. He wants to live. He never planned on dying against Chrollo. He never ever plans on dying against people he fights. If Illumi and Hisoka were to ever truly fight, Hisoka would never let Illumi kill him without giving it his all. He WILL fight for his life.
And the same goes for Illumi. Illumi doesn't want to die and has no reason to want to actually die by Hisoka's hand. He has duties and responsibilities as a Zoldyck eldest and he's not going to throw it away in the name of... twisted love? lol
And I think lots of people find all of this hard to believe because theyre very used to villains getting bad endings or getting "what they deserve" in anime which is completely fair but let me, no, ALLOW ME to point you to one of my favorite villain groups in hxh that had a good ending despite being complete pieces of shit that would've deserved worse than death.
Genthru and the bomber team.
Genuine shitty people that scammed lied massacred people. They only cared about each other a lot but saw everyone else around them as lower than useless scum. They would've deserved to be left for dead. And yet, what happened? They were healed and they lived. They went on with their lives. Togashi could've very much made Gon just kill genthru to show how powerful he is and his sense of justice blablabla but that just isn't what the anime is about. Everyone in hxh is morally grey. At the end of the day Gon, Killua, and Bisky just wanted the cards from genthru and his friends and moved on.
A lot of people fail to realize this when it also comes to Hisoka and Illumi. They can just get a good ending like that. Do they deserve it? No. Does it matter whether they deserve it or not? Nope! This is hunter x hunter. And as far as I see it, its an anime about the power of platonic and romantic love. And Hisoillu are a specific type of love that is going to get a happy ending despite not even remotely deserving it. We got the meruem and komugi sad love ending. And we're getting the gay version of it except theyre unredeemable and horrible and they still get to be happy. Those are my thoughts.
Also in general I just genuinely cannot see Togashi continuing the anime without his favorite babygirl Hisoka being alive. Like even when he killed him off he revived him like 2 pages later in the same chapter he can't stand the idea of even letting his death marinate for a single chapter lmfaoooooooooo

HxH jumpscare. Anyways I think the reason why Hisoka and Illumi's dynamic is so phenomenal is that Illumi is a person who's pretending not to be and Hisoka is something pretending to be a person. Hisoka is consciously putting in the effort to perform while Illumi is consciously putting in the effort NOT to

"ENGAGEMENT RING" WAS NOT SOME WAYWARD TRANSLATION BUT AN ACTUAL LINE IN THE JP MANGA?????? I always thought the reason some translations said, "engagement (ring)," where others used, "prenup," for Illumi and Hisoka's contract was because it was one translator's whim to cause chaos???? Like. It could be read as either of those, but was not necessarily the whole definition.
Tumblr media
(x)
But no, I've input the kanji into every translator I could find and they all said roughly the same thing—prenuptial contract. Meanwhile, the furigana (AKA the reading aid consisting of smaller kana printed either above or next to kanji or other characters to indicate their pronunciation), spelled out engagement ring.
I know this might be old news to some but I was today years old when I found out it was so literal????? Togashi really spelled it out in a way ensures we can't misunderstand yet somehow the implications still fly over a few people's heads???????
Idk about y'all but if I was an assassin born and raised on the ideology that an assassin does not need friends and some powerful magician mf just dallies around, telling every person he fights that he's my friend—I'd have killed him by now. I wouldn't trust him with my family secrets. I wouldn't do him any favors.
Or if I was a power-hungry fighter always striving to grow stronger, who grew up in the literal slums and betrays people left and right, I wouldn't put my trust on this pretty assassin either. Even if it's all just manipulations in the end, I wouldn't have any reason to call him, and only him, a friend. I wouldn't give him many, if not all, of my earthly possessions if I were to pass away—even if he isn't the one to kill me.
That's the thing about the contract too, Illumi gets his, "engagement ring," regardless of who kills Hisoka. Illumi's insured, whatever the outcome of this fight may be, so long as Hisoka dies. The funny thing about prenups is it could also be treated as a will of sorts—should one person die, I think it's more commonplace for prenups to include that all valuable assets be given to the widow by default??
Hisoka really did not need to do that, in order to hire Illumi???? Does this mean Hisoka knows and accepts the inevitability of his death on the Black Whale??? Or did his touch with death after fighting Chrollo open his eyes to the fact that he still needed a beneficiary, someone to take his belongings when he dies???? Either way, it's telling that he chose Illumi, of all people, to uphold this extremely important contract...
Anyways. Whether you wanna acknowledge it or not, Hisoka and Illumi have grown to become a pair in the Hunter X Hunter universe, have become the most unlikely, if not terrifying, friends and while the, "engagement ring," or the, "prenup," may not be explicitly romantic, the connotations and the possibilities are still there.
In conclusion, these insane mfs are gay and married, good for them!! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

cw: dark content. stalking. murder. toxic/yandere behavior. pregnancy mention.
a/n: it’s been a while since I wrote for Illumi damn.
The longer the man in your direct path attempts to hold your attention, the faster he careens to an untimely death. Of course, the young man before you is none the wiser, barely noticing the nervous tap in your foot as he continues to chat you up to the best of his ability. If he knew what were good for him, he’d move out of your way, but usually men of this sort don’t - not the type of man who’d put out his cigarette and corner you on your way out of a convenience store in the dead of night, engaging you in conversation you are not interested in.
“All I’m saying is that it’s dangerous out there, and perhaps you should consider letting me accompany you home,” he finishes his proposition. The smile on his face is sleazy, but just that is not enough to warrant death. He leans over, eyes running up and down your form as though you’re not shrouded in an oversized hoodie and baggy sweatpants that reveal very little about your shape or condition.
The calm demeanor on your face does not betray the fact that your heart is starting to pick up in pace. From the moment he started talking, you’ve been counting in time with an internal stopwatch. You’re close to 2 minutes, perhaps 3. You’re surprised he’s still breathing.
After all, you have a shadow.
A mean one. Well, mean is not the word for it, but rather, cruel. One with little respect for human life. The shadow takes many forms. You’re not sure which one it’ll be today. But greater than 2 minutes have passed, enough for your shadow to realize this conversation is unnecessary and unwarranted. Disrespectful, even.
You smile politely, which the man returns, scratching his chin as though he’s appraising a fine jewel. What about a smile says yes, I will go home with you? Is it the slight nervous expression that accompanies it, as harmless-appearing girls often adopt when telling - no, pleading - to members of the opposite sex to leave them alone? The one that betrays vulnerability, particularly when so few people are watching?
Even if you said no, there’s nothing to stop him from following you.
“I’m not interested,” you nod pleasantly. It is right to pay respects to the dead. You attempt to move past him, and he shifts to mirror you, obstructing your path yet again, and the dance begins.
“Come on, babe-” he begins to whine, and you close your eyes.
3... 2... 1...
There’s the sound of whistling - something - that cuts through the air. A high-pitched sound. You wonder how it’ll happen this time. Your body tenses.
There’s a sound he makes that is like pure shock made audible.
Your eyes snap open and the man still stands, leaning slightly over you, but his mouth is wide open, a quivering ‘O’. His eyes are widened to match. Glassy and faded.
And then he begins to fall over. You swallow hard and take a step back, and he collapses into a heap, face down. There’s something sharp, and geometric sticking out of the back of his skull.
A glistening card. Black. A credit card.
You curse under your breath. From how deep the card is lodged, you are certain the man is dead, and you squat to his level, watching him closer to see the lack of chest rise.
He’s no longer breathing.
“Goddammit, Illumi,” you murmur under your breath. There’s a pounding in your temples that immediately begins, somewhere between fear and irritation.
You stare out into the darkness, the approximate direction from which the makeshift weapon must have come. It takes a moment for your eyes to focus.
You expect a butler, again tasked to follow you around mercilessly as it’s been for the past few months ever since you... told him the truth. Your body, constantly doubled, has not felt like your own since. And of course, this isn’t the first, nor will it be the last, body to crumple in front of you in this way.
“Is this really necessary?!” you call out into the darkness as you get to your feet. If it were the first time someone had died in your presence, your blood would not have warmed back up to normal so quickly, but this is becoming a common occurrence that you have started to react less and less. Humans adapt to anything.
“Of course it is.”
You blink a few times in succession. Illumi himself approaches quickly, running a hand through his hair in that nonchalant way of his and you find yourself frozen stiff and still, the same way a deer would be in headlights. You didn’t expect him to be around personally this time. Not at this time of night, when it is easier for him to work.
Illumi takes his time, giving you a quick once over and then bends over ever so slightly to retrieve his weapon. There’s a somewhat sickening wet sound as the credit card slides out of brain and bone.
He hands it to you.
“I told you not to spend your own money,” he reminds you, voice light as though he hasn’t just killed someone.
You want to scream at him, but instead settle for a scoff, your arms folding over your chest. He raises his eyebrows ever so slightly, hand still outstretched as though he is confused.
“Are you refusing my funds?” he asks. Before you can answer, he exclaims, “Oh!” as nonchalantly as remembering a funny story he heard and would like to share, and then wipes the bloody card on the front of his pants, before handing it back to you.
“Where are my manners?” he says, stepping over the body to get closer to you. “It’s quite disgusting, I’ve forgotten about your sensitivity to these things.”
Your stomach twists and he takes your arm by the wrist, putting the card in the palm of your hand whether you like it or not.
“I don’t need your money,” you hiss at him.
“You don’t but you’ll have it,” he replies, unbothered. The small plastic bag you carried is quickly recovered by him and his free hand grips yours tightly.
“I’ve told you time and time again not to leave home at night.”
You hate the way he says, “home.” It is not his home, or your shared home, it is your apartment that he enters and leaves as he pleases.
You start walking. It’s cold and so is his hand, and you’d like to be somewhere safer, well rather, warmer, as soon as possible.
“I ran out of ice cream.”
“You could have asked me.”
You would turn to him and give him an awful look, but that would only encourage him further. His hand around yours is not comforting but it is steady and secure.
“You’ve learned from Hisoka,” you finally settle on saying moments later. It’s a bland, observational statement but it attempts to make conversation. You’ve been walking for a moment, and it is quiet. You never know what he’s thinking after he’s ended a life. Speaking casually would make the idea less horrifying.
“Have I?” He continues to stare straight ahead, as though he’s scanning the surroundings, as if he isn’t the danger.
You don’t know what to say to that.
You round the block to your apartment. Illumi’s hand does not release yours until he leaves you in front of your door, unlocking it himself and pushing you inside. You wonder why he’s not coming in but decide it’s not worth asking.
“I won’t be back tonight,” he lets you know, then lets out a sigh. “Unless you ask.”
Why would you ask? You think but rather you nod in understanding. His eyes slide from your face to your belly.
“Stay away from tuna,” he reminds you. You remember the convenience store sushi in your bag, right next to the tub of ice cream, and are sheepish.
“Okay.”
There’s no use arguing with him.
“If there are any more incidents, I’m taking you to the manor.”
You nod again. Unintentionally, your hand slips under your sweatshirt and t-shirt to your stomach, caressing the skin. You are not showing yet, but you wonder if Illumi sees anything else in you but the developing child in your womb.
Illumi offers the ghost of a smile, and it unsettles you but you have to admit some of it also brings warmth to your cheeks. You wonder how you ended up like this, and you wonder about the future.
He turns to leave.
“Call if you need me,” he repeats.
And he disappears.

I've been thinking of Illumi, like his siblings are mostly compliant except Killua but the way Killua rebels is through his actions yk. So, Illumi with a fem!Zoldyck younger sibling reader who's similar to Killua when it comes to talent but you fight him with your words and sass 💅💅💅
Probably inherited it from Zeno, but since Kikyo probably believes in ladylike etiquette, that snark turned into sass. Also from the internet content shown to you by Milluki.
-Imagine Illumi telling you about the assassins can't have friends and you told him to stop projecting his insecurities of being lonely into you because it's not cute.
-Illumi telling you that he's off to kill someone and you just looked at him up and down before saying "In that outfit?" (While you absolutely slay bc of the Zoldyck money).
I can see a sibling like that getting along very well with Killua since neither of them take Illumi’s bullshit, probably even joining each other to rebel against Illumi to annoy him.
